'Louis Tomlinson has proven he's not just an ex-boyband star, he's a rocker'
Some know him as 'that guy from One Direction', others, including myself know him as arguably one of South Yorkshire's finest exports but Louis Tomlinson is only getting better, writes Daniel Bird

Daniel Bird Assistant Showbiz Editor 17:31, 12 Nov 2023
Louis Tomlinson may only have two solo albums but he's proving to be one of the artists people should keep an eye on.
Having burst onto the music scene in 2010 as one-fifth of One Direction – a band created by Nicole Scherzinger on The X Factor after all five members were rejected, he's proven he's not just an ex-boyband singer. While singers from bands tend to keep a low profile and venture into other industries after a split, Louis is on a one-way ticket to becoming a mega-star in his own right.
Known for never losing his Doncaster accent and humour, the 31-year-old is currently embarking on his Faith In The Future World Tour, performing to thousands of die-hard fans every night – which he deserves credit for.
Although he may have come from one of the biggest bands of all time, the cheeky chap isn't afraid of getting up close and personal with fans – much to the dismay of his security who leap into action when he jumps off stage and runs to the barricade to see fans. In recent weeks, Louis has seen his expensive vests ripped off him, with fans even going as far as tickling him.
This, however, hasn't stopped him from putting on an incredible show. Despite only releasing two studio albums as a soloist (his second topping the Official UK Charts), he's pushing himself to the limits and playing arenas across the world. Most recently, he performed to around 21,000 fans at Manchester's AO Arena on November 11.
Walking onto the stage may be daunting for some, but Tomlinson showed no signs of fear as he opened with The Greatest – ironically, perhaps the greatest opening track. Throughout the night, he performed hits including Kill My Mind but also paying tribute to his One Direction days, belting out Drag Me Down and Where Do Broken Hearts Go. But since his pop days, Tomlinson has edged towards a more EDM and synth sound before finding his comfort in rockier tracks. He'd previously stated he'd taken inspiration from the likes of Sam Fender, Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys and Manchester legends, Oasis.
Image: Mirrorpix/Daniel Bird
Nowadays, fans can expect the odd pop hit but also enjoy punk rock as well as indie pop and soft rock.
However, despite being in the business for almost 14 years, Louis remained grounded and acknowledged that Manchester was the start of his career. Between songs, he recalled his first audition for The X Factor in front of Simon Cowell, Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, being in the city. He told fans: "This is where I did my very first audition, so to be back here on my own it definitely feels full circle and I couldn't have done that without you.

Starfield Radio Stations (a collection of Spotify playlists)
Sooo I got super bored yesterday and made 11 (yes, eleven) Spotify playlists for radio stations I made up for the Starfield universe. There's a huge mix of genres, so I thought maybe some of you guys might like to listen too. I've aimed for around 50 tracks each but total lengths vary a little. You can also click here to see all the tracklists.
Red Rock Radio - "martian radio for all your heavy listening needs" - perfect for dogfights and shootouts. Heavy, rhythmic, lots of classic and contemporary hard rock. Probably something the Red Devils would listen to, and a personal favourite of mine.
Space-DST Radio - "classical rock to ease you through the spacelanes" - recently taken up space-trucking? Got you covered. Road-trip bangers and dad-rock in this one.
Asteroid FM - "ambient tracks for when you're lost in space" - think lots of instrumental mountain banjo and some psychedelic rock themes. Some vocal tracks but not many, very mellow in general.
Atlantic FM - "feel-good indie for drowning out the corporate drones" - what it says on the tin really. New Atlantis vibes - up-beat, jazzy, designed to make you feel better.
Radio Cheyenne - "music to awaken your inner space cowboy" - Akila City vibes at their finest. Country, blues and soft rock, very frontier-esque.
RADIONEON - "electronica for those neon-lit nights" - upbeat synth and punchy drums to vibe/dance/astral project/kill bad guys to. Some indie and some more mainstream tracks in here.
RADIONEON ASTRAL FM - "entrancing electronic beats" - made to fit with the air of the Astral Lounge, lots of trancey EDM and house.
Stargazer Radio - "melancholy music found in someone's ancestor's collection" - for when you just need to drift through space and ponder life's troubles. Sad vibes, with modern and old stuff.
Planet Pop! - "a mix of popular music from old earth" - only stuff released before Y2K here, contains lots of 80s in this one.
Planet Pop! 2K - "pop music from after the turn of the millennium" - a mix of dance and classic pop tracks released after Y2K. Tried to keep it space-themed but got carried away lol.
FM Voyager - "moog-ish music to drift in space to" - think 60s space music, and then multiply by 200. Not as many tracks on this one, probably the weirdest out of the lot.
Please let me know what you think!!
I've been so excited to share this I'd love to know if you have any favourites!

Divine Ritual
Pedro Pantheon Submission: Dieter Bravo as the god Dionysus
Event created by @beskarandblasters (we miss you❤️)
Words: 800+
Warnings: heavy drug use, sexually explicit, 18+ adults only
Masterlist
Hours after the sun dipped below the horizon, the EDM festival is in full swing. A thumping bass reverberates so loud that it travels through the ground and up into bones. The night sky is illuminated with a kaleidoscope of neon lights, lasers, and the glow of fire from stage pyrotechnics. Towering LED screens display pulsating visuals across the field, captivating audiences.
Everywhere Dionysus looks, men, women, gays, and theys are adorned with glittering accessories and futuristic outfits. Some wear body paint that glows under the strobing lights while their bodies move in sync with the music emitting from the stages.
He looks over the festival grounds in awe; it is his favorite time of year. As the god of festivity, fertility, insanity, and ecstasy, the vibes and energy of EDM festivals were kin to rituals devoted to powering him and the universe with energy.
These rituals have always existed throughout history in one form or another, but this current version is his favorite, much less gory than ritualistic sacrifices.
Dionysus shifts into his favorite mortal identity, Dieter Bravo, to walk amongst the humans and join their merriment.
With a deep breath, he drinks in the atmosphere. The air is thick with the scent of sweat and euphoria, punctuated with bursts of fog and smoke that emanate from the stages where DJs perform.
Underneath it all, there's a current of energy, wild with lust and ecstasy, that he inhales and has him tingling with power. The mortals feel it, too, but differently; the atmosphere heightens their frenzy of pleasure and excitement.
Dieter walks through the crowds. To his left, he notices a girl puking in the bushes with a friend holding her hair. He chuckles and murmurs, “Been there, done that.”
He continues basking in the glory of it all. This year, he distributed new strains of all his favorite creations. Ecstasy to induce trippy, lustful, and energizing effects, a new mushroom variant with delightful hallucinogenic qualities, and weed from the finest marijuana harvest he’s ever had that calms the mind like no other.
Looking around, he can see his mortals enjoying those creations to full effect, evident in their blown-out pupils, sexually charged dancing, and giggles galore.
His garden of fun on Mount Olympus grows it all. He’s the father of all party drugs, hallucinogens, stimulants, and even downers.
Once, Aphrodite even approached him, and together, they created a little blue pill that the mortals love, Viagra, he thinks they named it. It increased procreation, lust, and desire and rocketed Aphrodite into power, the likes of which she’d never seen.
He prides himself on creating the purest products with the finest effects. His product is even safe for mortals; only when it falls into the hands of evil bastards on earth is It defiled by dangerous additives and ruins all the fun or has adverse effects. He usually curses those individuals with bad trips, so don’t piss him off, or youll regret it.
It’s a win-win situation for him and the mortals at such festivals. He provides them with gifts to heighten their experiences, and in turn, he’s powered by the energy it emits into the universe.
Tonight, he tucks a pill into his own mouth as he strolls along to meet up with the threesome of individuals he’d planned to see. Ducking into the tent, he meets the eyes of 2 incredibly sexy women and a fine specimen of a man.
“Dieter,” one of the girls screams, getting up from her place beside the bong to greet him with a hug around his shoulders.
“Hey, doll,” he greets her, a nice substitute for the name he can't remember.
The other woman, already topless and aside from the glittery nipple patches she wears, takes a long hit and blows smoke out the corner of her mouth.
The man, Julien, who he remembers from a previous sexual encounter, pats the area beside him, beckoning him to come closer and take a seat.
Dieter obliges.
By now, the haze of the drug washes over him, filling him with insatiable lust and amusement.
What feels like seconds later, he can’t be sure because his trip is messing with his time perception; the four of them are naked and engaging in debauchery.
Julien, a golden-skinned Adonis, has shed his clothes and stands with his cock out, begging to be licked.
The woman who greeted him with a hug, a little blue-haired harlot with eyes of sapphire, bounces on Dieter's cock, crossed-eyed with pleasure and dripping from her cunt. Woman number two, a purple-haired vixen, rides Dieter's face, gyrating on his tongue and dripping into his mouth while she moans in pleasure above and takes Julien's cock into her mouth.
The four of them fuck late into the night, high on a collection of drugs and lust. The chaotic, euphoric energy feeds into Dieter's power like in times before when mortals would sacrifice food and wine for him in his temples, only now it's their bodies they offer him.
And as he spills his divine seed into their loins, they spill their energy into the universe for him to consume.
Next week, he goes to Bonnaroo and can’t wait to do it all again.

100 SLEEPING PRINCES & THE KINGDOM OF DREAMS
EDMOND CHARACTER CARD #2
━
Edmond's brown eyes were swimming with uncertainty.
EDMOND : Emma, promise me something. You mustn't go to the market alone anymore.
EMMA : O-Okay. I promise.
Perhaps I should have asked questions before I agreed, but hearing his stern and serious voice I did so on instinct. I had never heard him talk in such a manner.
EDMOND : Good. Now that that's settled, we can return to our plans.
In an instant he went from somber and anxious back to his typical smiling self.
EDMOND : If you ever need to go back to the market, I will escort you. Now, the tea.
With a wave of his hand, the servant had swiftly moved across the room to pull out a chair for me.
EMMA : Thank you.
EDMOND : Here, have a taste. This is the finest tea in the land. It was prepared especially for you. And it will go splendidly with the cookies you brought today.
The smile he flashed me was soft and gentle. It warmed my heart every time I saw it. Turning his attention to the tea, he poured a cup, placing it on the table in front of me.
EDMOND : Here. Please do enjoy.
EMMA : Thank you so much. It smells wonderful!
The two of us drank tea and chatted until the sun set.
-
EDMOND : Did you know that apart from Dajeelberg, there are other countries known for their tea? Each country excels in producing its own unique type.
EDMOND : However, it must be said, that the tea from our country is undoubtedly the best.
Though, it was said in a half-joking manner, I could tell he was very proud of the tea from Dajeelberg. We continued to chat for a couple more hours, losing track of time.
At that moment...
MINISTER : Pardon me, Your Highness, about the matter from before...
A robust man approached us.
EDMOND : Minister...As you can see, I am in the middle of a conversation. Can it not wait?
MINISTER : I apologize...We can discuss it later tonight.
The minister's gaze drifted to the table where the white flower was still resting. His brow furrowed at the sight of it.
MINISTER : Huh? What's this flower doing here?
EDMOND : ......
MINISTER : Prince Edmond, you must refrain from venturing into the impoverished area of the city.
(The impoverished area...?)
EDMOND : I know, Minister. It's not a big deal. You may take your leave.
The minister lowered his head in shame and exited the banquet hall.
EMMA : May I ask...What's going on...?
EDMOND : Well, that's...
With a soft sigh, his smile fell once more and he silently lowered his head. A dark shadow fell across his handsome features, and then...
EDMOND : This country has a poverty-stricken district. The boy who gave you that flower is likely from that district. Because that particular type of flower only blossoms there.
(That boy is from the poverty-stricken district...)
EDMOND : It wasn't always this way. Initially, the district was constructed as a new residential area.
EMMA : I see...
EDMOND : The country turned a blind eye on it as it slowly fell into poverty. They did nothing to help the starving and homeless people there. They said, serious redevelopment would require a significant budget and it wasn't worth it.
EDMOND : I have been utterly useless in helping those people.
The pained expression on Edmond's face made me feel uneasy. I could tell that he was hurting for those people, as I was for that young boy.
EMMA : Is there something you want to do to help them?
EDMOND : Well...I...
(Edmond...?)
His head fell into his hands. He was hiding his face from me and fighting back tears. I felt that I pushed further he would break. So instead, I reached out to gently grab his hand.
EDMOND : ...I'm sorry. Can we not discuss such heavy topics?
Edmond managed a forced smile.
EMMA : .........
EDMOND : C'mon, don't give me that serious look!
He gave a squeeze of my hand and his smile stretched.
EDMOND : Aren't you enjoying the tea party?
EMMA : Yes. It's wonderful.
In response to his forced smile, I conjured one of my own.
Then...
Edmond blushed slightly.
EDMOND : As long as you're happy, then I'm happy. Since you came all this way to visit, I want you to enjoy it to the fullest.
Edmond continued to be attentive to me the rest of the evening. But... "I have been utterly useless." The pained expression he had when he said those words weighed heavy on my heart.

I'm only five very many days late to this, but I was tagged by the fab @firemanseb to put my liked songs on shuffle, and post the first ten that come up. Let's go ...
Computer Graphics - Disasteradio (I don't even know what genre this is - retro 80's synth dance maybe?)
Many a Time - Pete Shelley (I bloody love The Buzzcocks, and while Pete Shelley alone isn't quite as good, his voice is still ... ! Plus, his lyrics: "I'm quite concerned though that this is all happening to me")
Paradise - Great Good Fine Ok, Before You Exit (Chipper and upbeat and a tiny bit twee, but hey)
Shallow Water - Cha Wa (Mardi Gras Indian funk from NOLA. What I wouldn't give for a beignet right now)
Lady Grinning Soul - David Bowie (Bowie. Bowie! My heart. I don't have words)
Turn It Up - TV Noise (EDM banger)
Mis'ry and the Blues - Jack Teagarden (some classic jazz/blues)
Wait and See - Shihad (NZ hard rock. I think The General Electric is their finest album)
Rocky - ATEEZ (K-Pop the way I like it: big, bold, bouncy)
I Hate Guns (Live at Rippon 2004) - Minuit (NZ electronica that's just. so. good. Ruth's voice is gorgeous, and they've been the soundtrack to a good chunk of my life)
I'm gonna leave this as an open tag to anyone who'd like to do it, because this trip down memory lane was so lovely, and I heartily recommend it!
#this has been a glorious way to start the day#thanks for the tag friend!#sorry i'm so late to it#tag game#music

The Ride (NSFW)
Request: Hello lovely, can I request a Eddie Brock smut, where Eddie and reader and some friends are out exploring the night life when it's time to go home, Eddie's bike gives up and the other guys can't find a cab that late so we're all stuffed into one car so we have to adjust and ladies have to sit on laps and it's all funn, music's loud, jokes. And then the reader feels Eddie's erection underneath her. P.S Eddie always had hots for the reader but never told her...
Take it from there <3
Warnings: NSFW Smut below cut, 18+ readers only, please
The flashing lights and pounding music echoed through the walls of the club as you were standing in the parking lot. Your friend, Eddie Brock hopped on his bike and tried to start it, but nothing was happening. In the meantime, the guys tried to call a taxi but with it being a Saturday night in San Francisco, the wait would be far too long.
"Man, I really don't want to call an Uber. They're gonna be like $200 tonight or some crap." Jason huffed. Eddie shrugged.
"I gotta call someone to tow my bike so I can get it fixed tomorrow. Besides, an Uber might be fun with all of us. We're already riled up so it can add more to this already crazy ass night!"
"Yeah!!" you chimed in, pressing down your skirt. "I just wanna get home and change and have some bath bombs!"
"Ooooh, nakey time, huh?" Eddie joked. You flipped him off, smirking, and the others all laughed.
"Please!" Sarah, one of the other friends added in. "It's pure Heaven to take a bath bomb!"
"Well while you’re all yapping about bath bombs, our ride is here! It's not that expensive, but we all gotta squeeze in. Ladies, sit on the guys' laps!" Jason cried out, right as the silver Toyota pulled up. There were 3 guys and 3 girls. The guys crammed inside as the girls sat on top of random guys.
Eddie, however, began to feel his heart race. You were sitting on top of him, and while he always loved to joke around with you, unknown to you at the time, he always had the hots for you. He felt you were gorgeous, funny, smart, and just a great friend. You met at work a few years ago where you were an intern then became a full fledged staff writer. He admired how smart you were and how you were always able to match his wit.
Soon the car began rolling.
"Ah you fellas out clubbing I see?" the Uber driver asked. "How about some of this?"
He turned on the radio and began playing some dance music. Loud. It suddenly became a party in the back seat. The girls...well, began wiggling their asses and the guys started dancing along as well.
"Oooh it's getting hot in herrrre" Jason sang to the tune of Nelly's song, completely off beat with the EDM music the driver was playing.
"You're so crazy, Jason!" Sarah, who was sitting on his lap, said, as she tried to make up her own lyrics to go with the EDM. Jokes were flying everywhere but Eddie was having a hard time concentrating.
You were sitting on him and you weren't just wiggling your ass--it felt like you were grinding into him. And Eddie was getting incredibly turned on by it. He felt himself getting hard and tried to move a bit away from you, but you kept grinding even harder. You knew what was going on. Suddenly, Eddie's heart almost stopped when he felt you reach down and grab him through his pants.
By now he had a full erection and you looked over at Eddie. He tried to look away but he couldn't resist feeling your stare.
"I'm sooo sorry, I got excited and---"
You cut him off, smiling.
"Oh, I can tell!" you just smiled at him, continuing to grind into him. Eddie was confused as to what you were doing.
"All right, take care!"
His thoughts were interrupted when the Uber driver pulled up at the apartment. Everyone got out the car and left, Eddie and you being the last ones to leave.
You lived on the same floor and quietly walked into the building. The others said their goodbyes and went into the elevator, but Eddie didn't even process what was happening with them. Their elevator left just as another one opened. You walked into it and he followed behind.
The minute the doors closed, you grabbed Eddie's head and pulled him in for a kiss. Eddie couldn't believe what was happening. It became passionate incredibly fast, your tongues dancing as if you'd been lovers for years. Suddenly, Eddie pulled away.
"Y/N....?" he whispered.
The bell of the elevator rang as you came to your floor and the doors opened.
"Come on!" you smiled, motioning your finger for him to follow you.
"To...?" Eddie asked.

‘End of the Beginning’ Commercial Letdown Despite Artistic Growth
Effy Giraffe, once hailed for her impressive 2023 comeback album Beginning of the End, faced unexpected challenges with her latest release, End of the Beginning, which made its debut October 11, 2024. Despite initial excitement from fans and critical anticipation, the album struggled to replicate the success of her prior work both commercially and critically.
Beginning of the End, released in 2023, marked Effy’s return after an extended hiatus. It charted well, buoyed by strong singles like “I Wanna Be Free”, “End Of Everything” and “Not Your Savior,” which gained significant traction, particularly in streaming. The album showcased her ability to evolve while staying true to her core sound, which resonated with both long-time followers and newer listeners. Given this momentum, expectations for End of the Beginning were understandably high.
End of the Beginning was announced with considerable fanfare. Leading singles like “Me, Myself & I” and “The One That Got Away” hinted at a more personal direction for Effy, blending her signature sound with synth-wave and EDM elements the worked so successfully for her just a year ago. While this creative evolution was lauded by some critics, the release failed to gain the same kind of traction her previous comeback album had enjoyed.
One key reason behind the underperformance may have been the commercial fatigue following the long rollout. Although Effy dropped several singles leading up to the release, the buzz failed to reach its peak by the time the album launched in October 2024.
Compared to Beginning of the End, End of the Beginning barely made a dent in the charts. Its singles struggled to break into top positions, and the album itself did not maintain a lasting presence on any major charts— even when compared to her entire catalog the album totaled 100 streams on Spotify alone, making it her lowest performing album to date. Despite her team’s strategic attempts at revamping singles like “Better Off Alone” with a slowed-down version, and the release of an acoustic version of “Out Of Time,” the album did not manage to capture widespread listener interest.
Fan reactions to End of the Beginning were mixed. While some praised Effy for her artistic risk-taking, others felt the album lacked cohesion and memorable hooks. The lack of a strong charting single compounded this, as streaming numbers lagged behind previous releases.
In contrast, Beginning of the End had benefited from its nostalgia-driven sound, which pulled in fans who had followed her career from the start. Effy herself hinted at feeling both excitement and sadness during the album’s rollout, which made it a more mature and emotional release. End of the Beginning attempted to recapture that same emotion but the theme felt inconsistent at times.
Effy’s struggles with End of the Beginning contrast sharply with her 2014 album Out of This World, a career-defining project that served as her initial “farewell.” Out of This World was a genre-spanning album that showcased her mastery of pop, EDM, dubstep and experimental sounds, cementing her place in the music industry. Though intended as a final project at the time, its impact proved enduring, and many fans still regard it as one of her finest works.
Now, Effy is planning a sequel to that iconic album, End of This World, set to release in 2025 or 2026. The upcoming project is being described as a genre celebration, fusing synth-wave, hip hop, EDM, and dubstep to bring Effy’s career full circle. The album is rumored to be highly ambitious, potentially including remixes or reimaginings of tracks from Out of This World due to a recent deal Effy made with DK Records, giving her the rights to rework her previous material.
Effy herself has expressed excitement about the project, teasing that End of This World could serve as her true farewell album. While End of the Beginning may have failed to meet commercial expectations, Effy is clearly gearing up for what could be her grand finale, combining her decades of experience into a project that might finally give her the closure she has been searching for.
Conclusion: A Creative Setback or Prelude to Something Bigger?
Although End of the Beginning did not achieve the same success as its predecessor, it is clear that Effy Giraffe remains an artist committed to evolution. With End of This World on the horizon, fans can look forward to a return to form, where Effy might once again capture the magic of her Out of This World days while experimenting with new sounds and narratives. While End of the Beginning may not have made its mark on the charts, it could prove to be a stepping stone toward her next great chapter in music.

Key Glock Steps With His Brothers On “Q-Dogz,” His Third May 2024 Single
A specialist in cutthroat flexes and no-frills rap bangers, Key Glock has carved out a lane of his own in the rap game. Affirming his crew’s status as the finest in South Memphis and beyond, the Paper Route Empire rapper shares “Q-Dogz,” his new single. Over production as haunting as his lyrics, which include a shout out to historically Black fraternity Omega Phi Psi, Glock puts those beneath him in their place, paying them no mind as he knows no one can compete on his level: “Cappin ’bout bodies they ain’t got none / These b*tches actin’ like they ain’t got no flops / Get back gang you know the outcome.” Rarely one to take his mind off his goals, he later admits: “Get money and my daughter only thing that make me cool off.”
“Q-Dogz” is the third of five new singles that Glock plans to release this month. “Q-Dogz” follows previous May singles “F*ck Around & Find Out” and “The Greatest," a Bandplay-produced single. The five-pack of singles arrives during the fifth month, and serves as a tribute to Paper Route Empire and Glock's cousin and mentor Young Dolph. #PRE5L
The new singles and music videos arrive on the heels of "Let's Go (Remix)," which reunites Key Glock and Young Dolph over triumphant production. Peaking at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100, Dolph's remix added fuel to the fire of "Let's Go," which was already one of the biggest hits of Key Glock's career. The song racked up hundreds of millions of streams, reached the Top 5 on Urban Radio, and has earned play in sports stadiums across the globe. The song inspired a cinematic video, directed by Chris Villa, a 7-minute epic for which the young rapper learned fight choreography and did his own stunts (10 million views to date). The song is a mainstay on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart (#20 peak) and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (#20 peak), and spent nine weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. "Let's Go" is the standout track from Glockoma 2 (Deluxe), an expansion of his February 2023 album Glockoma 2, which spent 8 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at #13. Last month, Key Glock united with Brazilian producer Alok, one of the world's most popular EDM artists, for a high octane "Let's Go" (Alok Remix).
In April, Key Glock performed for the first time at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, headlining a bill that also featured Young Nudy and BigXThaPlug. The young rapper sold out the show, performing his hits in front of 10,000 adoring fans, and even inviting a lucky few onstage to rap along with songs by Key Glock and Young Dolph. The Red Rocks performance continued momentum that started in 2023 with Glock's fast-selling SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock – Glockoma Tour,” with support from XXL Freshman TiaCorine, Dallas riser BigXThaPlug, and his PRE associates including Kenny Muney and Jay Fizzle.
Now with more than 15.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, multiple Hot 100 hits to his name, and 59k tickets sold in 2023 alone, Key Glock is on the brink of taking his no-holds-barred Memphis sound to the mainstream. Stay tuned for much more music from Key Glock in May.
