What are the rules?

So as I've mentioned you don't need to create new stuff for this challenge! If you've ever done smth featuring lyrics that involve a word on this list then you can join just as easily as someone who wants to create smth new!

What types of media are allowed?

Any you can think of! Whether you have drawn/painted smth, made a lyric edit, did an lyric analysis, wrote a piece of (fan)fiction, made a video or if you crafted anything irl (like embroidery or collages for example); anything is allowed as long as it fits a taylor lyric featuring a word on the list!

How do I participate?

Well there are multiple options that will all lead you to a similar result!

1. You want to create smth for this challenge or have simply never posted about the work you're considering for this? then you can either

a) You can make your own post, tag this blog in it and schedule it to post on the day of the prompt

b) You can submit it to this blog and I will post it on the corresponding day

2. You've already created and posted about smth that would fit within this challenge?

-> then you can just tag me in it anytime until the day of the prompt and I will schedule my reblog of it for that day!

publicly? Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. privately? I have an entire folder on my laptop called 'other shit' which is just one-shots for about fifteen different fandoms which I will never publish <3

god. this is really making me look at my statistics page which I actively try not to do lol. but it's one long day, I will carry you, color theory, foreigner's god, and growing pains. what can I say, the ppl love the they lived AUs!

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to but I'm terrible about it which is a personal failing. I am so sorry. a new strategy that helps with this is that with my WIPs I try to respond right after the next chapter is posted so the person gets a nice lil notif and they have something else to read!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oh hmmm. I guess the derelict art of letting go ending was angsty, but the whole thing was angsty. the end was bittersweet. maybe Invictus? ok new problem is I can't remember what I've written

foreigner's god! it's always clare why did you write all of that sad stuff into foreigner's god clare why did you write their deaths in such brutal detail clare I made my roommate read this and now she won't stop crying blah blah and it's never hey clare thanks for that nice ending scene where they're just married and lying in bed and vibing!!!!!!!!!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

yeah I do and I think under viking law I'm legally permitted to fistfight the commenters!!!!!!!!!!!! step up cowards!!!!!!!!!!!!

god. lmao. yes I do! not often, though, I'm afraid. I tend to write an extremely narrow niche which is just exorcising trauma through sex and personal intimacy. I have no chill :)

no I actually usually dislike crossovers lol. like theogony is a fusion of the outlander premise but I can assure you that James Alexander Malcom MacKenzie Frasier will not make an appearance. crossovers stress me out and I like to keep my little fictional words separate, if I can. ok edit: on further review I've concluded that I enjoy premise swaps (these are just AUs lol), but I can't deal with characters from multiple pieces of media interacting. it's too much. stay in your lanes, my god. this isn't super smash bros.

not a whole fic but someone basically copy and pasted a bunch of lines from NAR into their story and then a bunch of drama ensued. it sucked and I don't like looking at NAR because it reminds me of it. I still think about the anon who told me about it, though. they were so lovely and so caring and kind to me. I hope they're doing well.

yes! both with my permission and without. ha ha.

Hey, just in case people who already have been having a bad time with this meme are retriggered by Francesca Scorcese's TikTok – Goncharov is fake. It doesn't exist. [Edited for further clarity] That is really Martin Scorsese's daughter, that's her real TikTok account, and presumably that is really her father in the chat screenshot she posted. Francesca saw the piece in the NY Times talking about how Tumblr made up a fake movie, sent her Dad the link and asked "Did you see this?" Martin joked back "yes I made that movie years ago." That's all it was, Martin Scorsese himself playing along with our silliness.

PLEASE reblog this and DO NOT TAG IT UNREALITY. "Unreality" is for posts that are keeping up the bit, but info posts, reality-affirming posts and ones talking about the meme as a meme are solidly real. We really haven't been doing a good enough job tagging this properly and protecting neurodivergent people from being gaslit and traumatized. Not shocked by these themes, I know I have a TypeTM, and the established as /1 is just because of the many series where the ship gets together in part 1... but I'm honestly a bit surprised there weren't any Good Omens specific tags in the top 3, fairly certain there used to be some higher up xD but two are still in the Top 10! & I looked up my top relationships too while I was at it:

Drabble of course also high up xD love all those wordcount writing exercises, I tag single-quintuple (so 100 words exactly, or 200, 300, 400 or 500 words exactly) drabbles with the 'drabble' tag, and I made another 'not exactly a drabble exercise' tags for fic that are for example exactly 5k long xD

And prompt fill is also very high up, wow! And here I'm still saying I'm no good at prompts lol xD maybe it's just those vague prompt lists I don't like...

The search thingy doesn't let people see your self-reblogs (just the original post). I also was on and off tumblr for a long time and often, but I can answer it based on my own experience on this becasue it was confusing to me too when I first met with self reblogging.

first of all self promotion isn't a bad thing and i'm staring to think some of people here see it as a crime

compared to old one nowday t/mblr is a mess, lot of people left this site and most of them were content creators (either artists or gifmakers) and back then it seemd more welcoming to editors? People would rb your stuff no matter your popularity becasue hey it is content from my fav series i wanna see more i wanna keep it on my blog and show it to others so there was no need for people to self reblog becasue it circulated around a lot on its own.

new people who join this app are raised on i/stagram t/itter and/or f/book where LIKES means everything, you show your support by liking posts THIS NOT APPLY TO TUMBLR AND NEVER DID [you can check this amazing post about rebloging]. As nice as it is to get likes on your post becasue it is like a pat on a head - it is only a pat, doesn't mean anything on a long run. Reblog = spreading. If people don't spread it we stay unnoticed and we tend to self reblog more.

another thing that changed is: people no longer scroll from top to the last post they saw before going to sleep, cos why would they? You wake up in the morning open app while eating breakfast or drinking coffee and you sroll past ten or twenty post or an equivalent of hour or two of your absence - you dont go deeper cos it would be a waste of time - again, I say USUALLY, some ppl still do this and it is ok either way - which leads us to main point of self/reblog:

DIFFERENCE in TIME ZONE not all of our followers live in the same time-zone, when I post something in my free time it doesn't mean others have it too, most of them are probably sleeping or in working place at that hour. We self reblog so people who were absent (and we think might be interested in - becasue why not? they follow us for a reason right?) can see it when they get back on here. By reblogging ourself multiple times, that puts the post back on the follower’s dash and hopefully gives them a chance to see it.

most of people follow ton of blogs (one of my friend I met here told me they follow over 1k blogs) imagine even half of these blogs posting regulary, a few things per hour, the dash is messy and crowded OUR EDITS TEND TO GET LOST IN IT. Most of people follow a lot of blogs and might miss our posts becaue their dashes are WAY more active than these who follow five or ten blogs.

t/mblr fandoms aren't welcoming to new creators in my experience, to get notes you need to be popular/have lot of followers but you can't have lot of them if your posts aren't spread/seen and so on and so on it go in circle (a lot of ppl also only reblog popular posts and avoid these with litte of notes - don't know why it is like this, maybe they think these posts are suspicious?) so with self reblog we also give some of these fake notes to make a post more appealing, i guess? this one is just speculation.

the search function you mentioned is very rarely used tbh people don't go to search for things daily, they usually only do this when they join new series/ship/etc to check if there is something. People usually stick to what they see on their dashes. AND most importantly this option doesn't work as it should. It is some type of algoritm that promote post that are alive/active - even if your post is relativy new it might not show in search becasue it died quickly (as if it wasn't interacted with for some time). With search option it is 50/50 your thing either show there or not. ALSO REMEMBER search option is a terrible promoted thingy that doesn't show you everything so you better stick to /tagged/ thing you can enter manually while on dash if you are using web t/mblr.

people no longer go straight to specific blogs to check if they missed something, they might do it for their besties (as they call it) but other than that DASH is all people see and focus on, so the more often content creators self/reblog the higher chance followrs will see it.

we are not paid for what we do and it come to everything: edits, gifs, arts, writing, video and META POST we are not paid for it and no matter how many people say notes are just numbers these numbers are our motivational payment, the less you get the less you create because you just don't feel the point of sharing your creations if it is not received well or at all.

when I started posting I used to post new content daily even twice a day, nowdays seeing most of my edits not being well recieved in fandom I lost motivation to the point I was thinking of quiting because it didn’t give me joy anymore and I'm still considering it.

I personally never felt bothered seeing self rebbloged post, I follow a bunch of content creators, some of them sr twice a day some each hour, some more or less often. It often helped me to see something I would missed becasue I wasn't here and personally it often give me joy to see the post I remember seeing that had 2 notes when I rb it and now it is 500 or more.

to anyone who read it and still think self reblog is a bother: do not tell people to stop self reblogging. If you genuinely have a problem with self reblogging, just unfollow or block the person who does it and don’t make a fuss over it!

Just wanted to say: i read your list. it's AWESOME!!

First of all, TASTE.

Second, I wasn't expecting some fics in there, but it was like a nostalgic feeling for me bc i didn't even remember some of them and they are great fics indeed. Also, i don't think I've read them all, so hey now I have new (old) fics to read!!!

Third, this list is very thorough! Not considering the number of fics you selected, but bc of your own tags and even your comments about the authors (which are super accurate, I endorse it! And it's worth to mention since most of them created classic fics™️ for the fandom, and ppl might get interested in searching more of their work). This requires knowledge of the fandom and its fics, so Kudos to YOU!!! Amazing!

I went with what I enjoyed reading, but for this list especially I tried to cover different authors. Some of these guys were very prolific a couple of years ago, so if (anyone reading this) you enjoy a work, good chance that author has more. I could have easily put five fics by some of these guys in here.

I’m especially glad you enjoyed my tags/comments, cause I debated whether to do that or just the list/ fic description. In the end, I had Thoughts about some of the longer ones in particular, that I had to talk about. That expanded to all of them.

Honestly I'm not sure without going back through my various places that I post but let's just guess like...20 fandoms? I mostly have done one-shots, tbh

Hard to say coz of this 'kudos' being from ao3 I imagine? Um for sure The Haunted Manor has the best out of anything I've ever written and published and I'm so proud of it! It's a sort of fanfiction but I consider it a retelling so it's slightly an AU slightly an original and slightly both lol

5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

ALWAYS IF POSSIBLE. I so rarely get comments that I jump immediately to life again at a comment! Please, readers, comment like the old days when I was first on the internet XD

oh dang uh I don't even know. I'd have to go back through my one-shots I think but my Frankenstein one comes to mind... Victor -a Frankenstein (ballet) inspired work

I have in the past, yes ^_^ Mostly when I did 'Fanfic Fridays' way back like almost 10 yrs ago haha

One time someone thought I was being passive aggressive in asking for reviews for The Haunted Manor so she told me so in her comment before tearing apart one of my chapters. Still think of that. I've also had a few ppl in recent years say some comments that I thought were uncalled for and very... unfounded. From friends too. One told me "I'm so glad you're going back and editing your first book A Promise Kept because it wasn't actually very good (or some bullshit like that) and I was so taken aback because 1) she'd always praised the book 2) she's never published anything because she rarely finishes anything (and if she has she hasn't shared it) 3) my novel was not 'trash' or whatever word she used. But I digress because that was an original story/novel and this is about fanfiction haha oops!

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

Not usually but I've made 3 attempts at it. One I decided to tastefully just go for that nsfw content with Daughter of Death on Patreon while the other two times were (well...) probably not really considered smut really because I was too shy to put anything too out of my comfort zone at the time. Those are tagged in my tumblr fic page with indications in advance haha

10. have you ever had a fic stolen?

I have run into a time when fanfiction.net was replicated on some other site and I had to get my fic shut down off of there. Tumblr and some random post about the replicas gave me the heads up. This site isn't just a hellsite haha

Yes with my good friend Vicky @vampiratesgrl through our blog @fantasydrabble and once a three way split through that same blog! I write daily with a friend of mine in our own RP style fics

impossible to answer because I am after all a truly hopeless romantic. But, I'm pretty proud of my couples in The Haunted Manor! They all warm my heart dearly!

14. whats a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

my other fanfic on fanfiction.net lol I started it soooo long ago in Jr High I believe and though I recall what happens I don't know that I'm interested to write it out for the world lol especially coz I'd have to re-read info again on Digimon which it is based in ;)

15. what are your writing strengths?

emotion, dialogue and well I dunno because it's been so long since anyone has told me specific comments. But for The Manor people enjoyed how I took something existing and made my own story while still making it familiar and the changes to extend scenes were (for most people) described as better than the original film did it. And that makes me feel good! ^_^

16. what are your writing weaknesses?

setting. I am so vague often because it's vague in my own head. My stories are set in relationships and emotions and less in a solid physical space when I think them up. I need to work on that!

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

I like it but for goodness sakes if you do it and I have to go and translate everything because I have no background or knowledge or context for what might be being said then I'm annoyed! So I try to use it sparcely and when I do it's either easily figured out or something like that

18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

online? Erm I guess that Digimon fanfic. But before that there was some imagined stuff for a bunch of things that I suddenly cannot recall at this time XD

Gots to be The Haunted Manor because it's close to my heart with what the story contains, it's longer than my actual first novel haha, I have the most feedback on it and my one-shots are often requested by people and I just type it out and don't easily recall them to mind later on without some stimulus reminding me that I wanna go back and reread it haha

okay i mean, technically i have three on ao3. i wrote ONE fic for law & order svu and it’s an entirely irrelevant fic now because what i wrote about HAPPENED. but people still read it every now and then so i just leave it up. and i also wrote an epilogue fic for the netflix film juanita. i’m not in that fandom cuz that fandom doesn’t really exist but i watched the movie for a film class and i literally turned that fic in as my project for it (yes i got 100% yes go read the fic). so pretty much all i write for is beauty and the beast 2017, my beloved :)

fading memories is your dream, for SURE. 99% of my fics end in a very happy and fluffy way. the only ones that end angsty are my young adam fics, and that one is the Big Boy Prequal Fic that ends in a perfectly tragic way that should lead you right to the beginning of batb 2017. it’s all angst, man.

7. do you write crossovers?

no but i’m not against them! i think they can be fun :) emily and i have an ongoing crossover universe but we’ve never written any fics it just exists through our insane texts and incorrect quotes sjdksj

thankfully, no! the batb readers are all very kind and sweet!! (or at least the ones who read my fics lol)

nope nope the furthest i’ll go is making out and even then i’m not graphic or detailed at all

adam and belle from beauty and the beast 2017 are quite nearly the only ship i have paid any attention to in the last 4 years!!

14. whats a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

hmmm. maybe i’m just optimistic but i feel like i’ll get to everything eventually. there’s one really long fic that i’ve written so many bits and pieces of but never just sat down and written it. mostly for technical plot reasons that i just don’t spend enough time trying to work out. OH! there’s that fic idea i got from that dream i had where it was modern au and adam had a little sister. SHOOT bro i do wanna write that. i wrote so much dialogue for it that next day but the wip itself is hardly anything :(

15. what are your writing strengths?

setting the scene and just painting the picture really nicely so you can see everything clearly. little details that make you feel like you’re watching it. i don’t know, character blocking? i think about what they’re doing a lot, with their hands or where they’re looking or whatever. also i think i’m pretty good at dialogue but that’s just cuz adam and belle are in my head all day long so i know their voices very well

16. what are your writing weaknesses?

conflict for sure. i’m too much of a fluffy writer!! i don’t like writing arguments or them getting mad at each other unless it’s stupid domestic stuff then it’s funny. i’m really good at writing the reconciling/making up lol but i seriously need to work on creating conflict. i just get too attached and i don’t like to see them fight even though i know everyone does and it’s a part of building the relationship >:( and even if it’s not adam and belle i just need to be better at writing it in general, for my oc’s and such. do it for the kids, lyd!

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

it’s very cool in the correct context!! i can’t do it really but hell yeah!! obviously with batb being in france i sometimes use french terms of endearment, mostly for lumiere lmao, but that’s about all i’m capable of! in my recent kiddos fic i tried out some familial titles like pépère for grandpa maurice and tata & oncle for auntie plumette and uncle lumiere <3 that was fun!

18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

bbc sherlock babeyyyy. i used to hand-write sherlock childhood fic in a journal??? i didn’t even know what fic was i just liked giving him a backstory haha. i did the same for loki but in my phone notes app. i’m nothing in not a sucker for the sad and innocent childhood backstories of very sad men apparently!

19. what’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?

oh man this is so hard. i’m proud of a lot of my work! majesty of a different breed comes to mind honestly. it’s one of my longer ones and i just truly love how it turned out. i think my descriptors are so good and i capture adam and belle’s dynamic as a newly married couple really well, i think. and i give them a dog! how can you not have a good time reading that fic!

honorable mentions to easy to remember, harder to move on — my maurice memories fic that i also really love. AND fading memories is your dream! my longest work and gosh, i really do love the tragic backstories bro!!! big proud of both of those too :)
