Self-Rec Tag Game 🌹
Rules: share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.) Then, tag five more people to share the things they've made.
Tagged by @palipunk and @isayashai thank you sm ;v; 💞 I will tag @s1ithers @coldshrugs @arcann @vlwv @ruushes if you like!
Something you absolutely adore:
Four Little Crows off to Meet the Maker :: This is chapter 1 of my Antivan long-fic, Quinta de Talpa, and it sets up Zevran and Hamal's quest to oppose the Crows while also serving as a 'marriage proposal' fic. I think it's a punchy start to a really long project, and I adore it! It motivates me to continue. :)
The door to their room opened before he could knock, and Hamal looked at him, brow furrowed, eyes heavy with lack of sleep. In one quick sweep, he took in the blood-stained clothes. Zevran shook his head. He pushed his way in.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I may have… underestimated things.”
2. Something that was challenging to create:
For Suffering is Such a Part :: AO3 :: This is the first long-fic I finished, and it took me years to complete. I found it incredibly daunting to work on anything longer than 1k, but I was deeply attached to the story and couldn't get it out of my head; I dedicated myself to completing it for several months after picking up an old draft. It's set during the Nature of the Beast quest in Origins. I uh still think about it a lot o_ o;
“My! Aren’t you a poet!” Zevran exclaimed, laughing into his wrist. “Am I just a hunk of meat to you?” Grinning broadly at him now, Hamal settled down on one knee, amid beams of sunlight. “Vhenan, to me you are the spring thaw, and all that comes with it.” Zevran looked at him. He blushed to the tips of his ears. He would definitely have to think of sweet things to tell Hamal in revenge—but he was far more poetic in Antivan, and had been caught off guard, so for now he acquiesced. “The things you say,” he told him softly. “Fine, you win. I’m a spring thaw.”
3. Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably):
The Reading Stone :: AO3 :: I love writing silly banter, but I often worry it goes too corny. I fear making anything too tonally dissonant. With this one I just had fun with it, and wrote some ensemble goofiness in Orzammar. :)
“And as I said, there is no need,” Hamal retorts. “You all sound like Ashalle. I can get by just fine without glasses.”
“Not if we go by all those bruises you’ve collected, walking into corners,” Alistair tuts. “How do you manage in a fight?”
“An enemy is just a big shape. I simply hit it until it stops moving!”
“Maker…”
4. Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.):
All That Matters is That You've Kept on Living :: AO3 :: This was a sweet short piece between Zevran and Isabela. But it felt unpolished and I almost didn't post it! The response was very positive, I was happily surprised. I still feel I can expand on it. Maybe one day. :)They deserve so much love, two of my favorite characters.
Yanking her legs back she tucks them beneath herself and tackles him with a hug, affectionate but very much exasperated.
“You talk about your husband too much, Zevran! No one will ever want to sleep with you!”
Zevran draws in a sharp breath, then he collapses into laughter.
5. Something you want other people to see:
Not a Homecoming, But Something Like It :: AO3 :: Another fic set in Antiva. This one comes very close to being part of QDT, but ultimately it is able to stand alone. Adelmar is mentioned in FSISAP, too, but only through flashbacks. She's an important part of my extended worldstate, as she helps Zevran heal past traumas, and vice versa (she was a prostitute at the brothel he was born in).
“I’m so glad you’re doing well. So tell me,” she scoots closer and looks at him eagerly, “What sort of life did you have, after you were adopted?”
“Adopted?”
By the kitchen counter, Hamal catches the subtle edge in Zevran’s tone. He pauses, holding the knife in his hand as a lull falls over the kitchen table, but he doesn’t know enough Antivan to guess what’s happened.
What’s happened is this: Zevran and Adelmar came from the same place, and know enough about that life to instantly understand that a lie has been told.
“Oh,” Adelmar breathes after a moment. “You… you weren’t adopted.”
Zevran lets out a laugh. It’s his ‘stalling’ laugh, and now Hamal is looking over, arms crossed, searching his face for clues.
“I was not adopted,” he says.

if my heart was mine (Kamet/Marin)
I almost wished I hadn’t spoken of her, but it was both bitter and sweet to say her name again.
another Kamet/Marin mix, much longer and less stylistically coherent than the first! like before, the songs are in vaguely chronological order based on the arc of their relationship as i imagine it, and several of the songs near the end are about the aftermath.
Lyrics:
Law Kan Qalby Maay (Fairuz)
Arabic lyrics + translation
Trees (The Oh Hellos)
Climbing trees Haven't much since we were children Shaking limbs Tend to end up bent and broken But heartache pales in comparison to love
Push Pull (Purity Ring)
You were young and you'd stare With a reverence unimpaired There was an echo far and faint Beneath the air remained You were young and you'd stare Where my limbs hung far and fair Make a ladder of what folds And climb up in me
Love They Say (Tegan and Sara)
You don't need to wonder if love will make us stronger There's nothing love can't do Love, they say this You don't need to worry, this love will make us worthy There's nothing love can't do
Entanglement (Imogen Heap)
It's home where you hold me So show me no mercy On islands of cotton Taboos get forgotten Our body entanglement wants You all over me Me all over you
Yo hanino (The Renaissance Players)
Lyrics (Ladino): Yo hanino tu hanina Mos tomaremos los dos Los ijikos ke mos nascen Aman, komo la luna y el sol
Ay ke hermozas palavrikas Ke me dizes tu a mi El dió grande ke te oyga Aman, tu soy sola para mi Translation (by @elwing, since I couldn't find the second verse of this version online anywhere): I'm beautiful, you're beautiful Let's take each other The children born to us Will be like the moon and the sun What beautiful little words That you say to me May the great god hear you You are the only one for me
La Tassaalouny (Fairuz)
Arabic lyrics + translation
Faint of Heart (Tegan and Sara)
Anyone could say that We're dangerous to take this chance Anyone could make us sound like We don't really have a plan Anyone could say that It's chemical and it won't last Anyone could make us seem Reckless, tell us we will crash
Magnets (Disclosure feat. Lorde)
Uh-oh, dancing past the point of no return Let go, we can free ourselves of all we've learned I love this secret language that we're speaking Say it to me, let's embrace the point of no return
Stay Soft (Mitski)
Just tell me what you want to do Tell me what you want To burn away Cause I could be your stoker
Open up your heart Like the gates of hell
Pienso En Tu Mirá (Rosalía)
Spanish lyrics + translation
The Beast (Imogen Heap)
One by one skin hardens, we’re becoming the beast Sheer power in the heat of hate brings our army of two to its knees Steel lungs are screaming the house down Going for the kill from the kiss Battle stations are now navigation Have we driven love to this?
After (MUNA)
It feels like a dream, what happened last night In the morning I am waiting in a long, long line I felt so connected, I felt so high I'm going to be lonely for a long, long time
Life on Land (Dessa)
Out in the water You can't touch bottom It pulls you farther Life on land forgotten
The world turns over I'm pulled under Stone cold sober But I feel nothing
Esta montanya d'enfrente (Kon Sira)
Ladino lyrics + translation
Only The Strong (Laura Marling)
Love is a sickness cured by time Love is a sickness cured by time Bruises all end up benign Love is a sickness cured by time
I hope that you can change my mind Had to leave this crying all behind I hope that you don't think that I'm unkind So somebody told me, only and only Only the strong will survive
Ponos Krifos (Marina Satti)
Greek lyrics + translation

Dreaming of you Red-Hair Pirates: Shanks, Beckman, Hongo edition when? 👉👈😔
I am gonna add a page break because I am not sure how to word what I need to say in a sfw way. Also, thank you for prompting me to really think about these guys, I love it.
Red Hair Pirates
Themes: Shanks x gn!reader, Beckman x gn!reader, Hongo x gn!reader, mdni, smut, 18+, NSFW, head canons on how they engage in intimacy, smutty thoughts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To me: these three all fuck different.
Tumblr media
Shanks: He's flirty, he's fun, he's a soft dom who encourages you to sing out for him as loud as you can be. If you're already loud, he's going to find that spot in you to make you louder. Switching positions, laughing all the way before that mean switch flips. Then he dishes out the most possessive, dominant, and ass-rippling back shots. He's a dirty pirate, and he knows how to handle himself. Showing you just how much strength he has in that remaining arm, he'll hold you down and staple you in heavy, languid drags of his cock deep within your stomach - before rolling you atop him and watching you whine and cry while bouncing on his lap. Planting his heels, he'll buck his hips up to help you out in having that orgasm you're both chasing together. There is no kink he hasn't done, and he is willing to explore anything that takes your fancy so long as he's in charge. He's the captain, after all.
Tumblr media
Beckman: The king of cockwarming. He's so patient, and his restraint is hardened in the way he teases. Sure, he's happy to give in and treat you like an animal from time to time, but he wants to take his time about it. There is no quick fixes with this old man, and he knows it. All of his motions are slow and steady, not once picking up his pace no matter how much you beg for it. While Beckman yearns for someone to take care of him, he won't so easily give up that control and let someone shatter his restraint. He also wants to be close to you, sharing breaths with your heads and lips connected. He makes love, and he acts like he has all the time in the world to do it.
Tumblr media
Hongo: While he's just as dirty as Shanks is, he has far more restraint when it comes to enjoying you. He wants you to try to make as little noise as you can, letting your body do all the talking for you in the way you snap your hips against his. As the doctor of the Red Hair pirates, he is used to showing a lot of control and seriousness in his actions, but in intimacy: he wants you to take the reigns. He's so tired, almost as tired as Beckman is. Where Beckman refuses to give in, Hongo wants you to top him due to him wanting to be empty-headed of all of those "how, where, when," questions. This doctor wants you to take care of him in the same way he takes care of his crew, and he needs to relax while you both come unravelled.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: I am trying to find a way to word the set up in a way I can see them all enjoying the same reader. I don't want a repetition of the Cross-Guild version, and I am very much taking my time to find it. While Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile all are so vastly different: they're all possessive about what they want and have that need for control. The Red-Hairs don't, and I want this one to have plot with the smut to follow.

Tumblr media
A stack of papers are slammed onto your desk. The pages are riddled with edits and red marks. Towards the end of the document, the person just started crossing out everything you had written.
“Stories like that won’t sell. It’s highly inappropriate.” Chief Editor Tildie scowls down at you. “Shame that you waste your talents on such rubbish.”
“But it’s not a story.” You mutter under your breath, not meeting her gaze.
“Did you say something?” She bends down, bracing one hand on the backrest of your chair.
“...No, ma’am.” Your response is barely a whisper, but she relents and begins to head back to her office.
“Stick to the politics and gossips, hon. If you know what’s good for you.”
You almost break your pen in frustration.
All the other journalists in the room witnessed what happened, but they all keep their heads down, buried into their typewriters and desks. No one ever tries to fight for things to change anymore.
The Oceanic Times is such a joke. Why would a newspaper company named after the ocean not be allowed to publish anything related to it? Some people have said that the current chief is running the company to the ground. You’re beginning to think it’s true.
Running your palms over your face, you take deep breaths until you’ve calmed down somewhat. The first thing you see when you uncover your eyes is your article. The one you were so excited and passionate about.
You wrote about Orange Town, they had been suffering after the Buggy Pirates invaded. Everything was destroyed and the residents were imprisoned, forced to be the audience to their own home’s ruin.
Things had stayed that way for months, until the people were saved by pirates. It sounded so unlikely to happen, and yet it did.
Knowing a scoop when you saw one, you sent a letter to Mayor Boodle along with some berry to donate for the town’s restoration. You tried asking if he wouldn’t mind being interviewed on what happened.
He agreed. The result was an excellent piece on how a small group of rag-tag startups got the better of Buggy the Clown, saving an entire village from his reign of terror.
…And yet, this is what you get for your hard work. Your fingers trace the red marks and strikethroughs Editor Tildie made.
You know you’re right, people around here could do with some accessible, actual news and well-researched information. But simply knowing what’s right doesn’t come with the power to fix things, doesn’t it?
The window by your desk offers you a view of the sun setting. It was one of the things that thrilled you when you first started, having a desk on the second floor. You were so determined back then.
It’s getting far too difficult to breathe in here. You grab your pen and treasured notebook, leaving the newsroom behind.
Your feet take you to the harbor. It’s quiet, with only a few fishermen around. You find yourself gazing out into the sea. The waves push and pull and ripple in patterns that calm you down.
For a world with so many pirates, and many enthralled by the idea of adventure, you’re sure your writing will be appreciated… It will be appreciated here, eventually.
Once, you thought about moving somewhere else. Maybe to a bigger city and work under a more renowned publisher. But you like this town too much for that. There’s a good balance of things; it has all the amenities of a developed town, but is still close enough to adventurous waters.
This place could be an excellent hub for information. If only you got the chance to show others what you dream of.
You know some people who are eager to leave, however. Some of your friends would give anything to work in some big city paper. You even heard rumors of Chief Editor Tildie applying for work in the East Blue Daily.
Oh, what you’d give to write about real news and the feats people are achieving. Letting out a sigh, you wonder where those upstart pirates are now.
Thankfully, you didn’t have to wait too long to find the answer. One of your co-workers bursts through the door a few weeks later, holding onto the wall to steady himself and catch his breath.
“Arlong has been defeated!”
Everyone in the newsroom stops what they're doing. Even Chief Editor Tildie looks shocked.
Apparently, Marines were chasing down a group of pirates, and those same pirates saved a village in the Conomi Islands from Arlong.
Pirates saving people? Could it be?
“It’s a new pirate crew, but they’re really powerful!” Your co-worker explains further. “Roronoa Zoro is second in command, and their captain took down Arlong by himself!”
“Does the captain wear a straw hat?” You ask, but something already made you sure he did.
“Yeah, here!” He passes you a wanted poster.
A boy is smiling in the photo, wearing the same straw hat Mayor Boodle mentioned to you.
“Is that why there have been more pirates around lately?” Editor Tildie says gruffly. “Darn sea lovers should stay at sea.”
No one comments on how Editor Tildie curses like a pirate. You value your jobs (and lives) too much. (But everyone thinks it.)
Another thing no one mentions is the excitement that seems to buzz through everyone. Like an electric current, making the air feel alive and crackle with an energy you haven’t seen in this newsroom in a long while.
News is about to break. You have work to do.
Your research leads you to trace the Straw Hat Pirates’ steps. A map of the East Blue is laid across your desk, and you begin to plot the locations where they’ve been. Holding your breath, you analyze their trail.
It might not be so far-fetched to say that they could show up here.
You think of the article you wrote on Orange Town. It’s still there, you’ve kept it safe in the trusty notebook you keep strapped to your waist. You couldn’t bear to just scrap it. But, maybe there’s hope for it after all, now that those same pirates rose to prominence in such a short amount of time.
“Still working, huh?” One of the photographers asks you. “We’re all headed for the tavern if you want to join us.”
You smile, but can’t imagine leaving your desk for the foreseeable future. “Thanks, but maybe another night.”
Everyone else leaves, the only light left on in the office is from the lamp on your desk. The night blankets the newsroom in shadows, and you pour over your research in the welcomed silence.
A loud crash is heard outside.
Someone is getting beat up. You were just about to ignore it and chalk it up to a brawl between drunks, but you hear the local librarian yell out in fear.
You sit still for a second, steeling your resolve before rushing out to the scene. You may not know how to fight, but you should at least help the old man get out of there.
The library is the building beside the news publisher’s, so you see everything the moment you step out of the door.
Thankfully, the old librarian seems to be protected by a green-haired swordsman. He stands menacingly against several thugs, his sword glints under the moonlight.
Not that the thugs look like they have a chance despite their numbers. Two of them are groaning and wounded on the ground, the other two are hiding behind a cart full of books.
The green-haired man raises his blade. “Cowards.” He spits out, looking severely unimpressed.
It seems he intends to strike the other two thugs where they stand, but the librarian begs the swordsman not to damage the cart or the books.
“Please!” The librarian wails. “Not the books!” Are his priorities on straight, you wonder?
“I don’t really care about that.” The man says, getting ready to charge at the men—through the books.
“Wait!” You yell, unable to just stand there. They all look at you with varying degrees of ‘who the hell is she?!’.
You use their surprise to your advantage, running quickly to the cart and pulling it out of the way. Everyone watches, astonished, as you take away the only thing that separated the thugs from the swordsman.
Said swordsman merely shrugs. “Fine.”
He’s so fast his form almost blurs. The thugs scream in fear, and for good reason. They’re cut down in two seconds.
“Oh thank goodness!” The librarian sobs, cradling the books that did not get shredded.
“Would you like some help carrying those inside?” You ask him, but he declines.
“No, it’s alright. Thank you for saving the books my dear. Pirates just can’t seem to fathom not solving things with violence.”
You’re baffled at how the old man can smile at you then look at the swordsman in disdain in the same breath. Shouldn’t he be grateful his life was protected?
He leaves, heaving the books into the library, but you stop him.
“No, hold on, let us help you.” You try again. “We insist.”
“We do?” The stranger asks incredulously.
“Yes.” You say, gesturing at how the old librarian’s arms are about to give out.
The swordsman looks displeased, but retrieves the books anyway.
“And you, sir,” You turn to the librarian. “You should thank him.”
The old man sputters.
“Don’t bother.” The stranger says. “Don’t even know why I did.”
The librarian huffs, but his glare falters this time. “...Thank you, lad.”
The green-haired man blinks. Like he doesn’t know what to do after somebody thanks him. It’s strangely endearing.
You both help the librarian get settled inside. It’s still painfully awkward, but you like to think that things turned out well.
The two of you leave the library together. Being in closer proximity, you get a better look at him. He’s exceedingly handsome, but what catches your eye are the three earrings dangling from his left ear.
Your eyes widen in recognition. “Roronoa Zoro.”
“...Do I know you?” He asks, looking at you impassively.
“I’m a journalist.” You say instead of answering him, as you introduce yourself. You point to the newspaper company next door
“Hm.” Is all you get from him.
You expected many things if you ever met any of the Straw Hats, but extreme disinterest isn’t one of them.
“Do you think I could ask you a few questions?” You ask, hopeful to convince him.
“You get one, and you just asked. So I guess we’re done here.” Zoro says. “Here’s my question, where’s the closest place I can get a drink around here?”
Undeterred, you try to meet him in the middle, “I have a bottle of whiskey in my desk drawer with your name on it.”
When he doesn’t reject you outright, you realize you have a shot at this.
You step towards him, eyes not leaving his as you make him an offer. “How about, I get you a drink, and you answer some questions for me?”
The confidence you feel surging isn’t normal for you, but you lean into it. When else are you going to get this chance?
Zoro studies you, more seriously this time. You can tell the moment his eyes shift that he must see right through to you. That you’re no fighter, but you’re determined. You’ll follow him around town until he gives you what you’re looking for if he disagrees.
To your delight, he nods.
But when you enter the building, you find something that you didn’t expect.
The entire place looks like it had been ransacked. You gasp in horror at the mess. Papers were strewn everywhere, all the desks were in disarray. How could this have happened in the time that you were gone?
Zoro steps in front of you protectively. A hand hovers on the handle of his blade as he surveys the damage. You can’t help but feel responsible for this.
You should have locked the door. You should have just called it a night. You should have just joined your friends for a drink and worked in the morning like a normal person. You should have—
“This isn’t your fault.”
Zoro’s back is still to you. For a while, he simply stays still.
Then he says it again. Slower this time, as if to emphasize the words, “This isn’t your fault.”
It’s not much, but it manages to make you pull yourself together. He’s right, it isn’t. So you have to find out who did.
You and Zoro head deeper into the building, taking careful steps in search for clues.
Zoro eyes the staircase leading to the upper floor, and he holds out his arm to block you from going any further.
“What’s wrong?” You ask in a very hushed whisper.
He points up the stairs, where you see the shadow of someone moving.
“I’ll deal with them. Stay here.” He instructs, but you grab his arm before he can take another step.
“No!” You whisper-yell. “I’m going too.”
He gives you that same, unimpressed expression he seems to be so fond of. To be honest, you’re becoming fond of it too. The effect on you is waning, if that's any indication.
“Why do you always look for trouble?” Zoro sighs. “Do what you want.”
Is it because he’s whispering, or does his voice lack its previous edge when he spoke to you?
You don’t have time to think more on that, however. Zoro begins ascending the stairs. You’ve never been more thankful that the steps are carpeted, your shoes would have clattered loudly otherwise.
Together, without a sound, you reach the second floor landing. It’s dark, but the damage you see is no better up here. The intruder really left no surface undisturbed.
Sounds of someone opening and shutting drawers alarms you. Zoro, very carefully, pulls out his sword.
More alarm bells start to ring when Zoro approaches the sound, and you realize it’s coming from your desk.
Zoro holds out an arm again, giving you a look that says stay put this time. Fine. You hang back while he impressively sneaks up behind the intruder without a sound.
The person is rummaging frantically through your desk, making noises that helps Zoro conceal himself. A document falls to the floor, and the shadowed figure kneels down to pick it up.
Zoro points his blade to their neck before they can get up. They freeze.
You turn on the lamp on the desk nearest you. The light illuminates the room enough that you can finally see the intruder’s face.
Only, it isn’t an intruder.
“Chief Editor Tildie?” You gasp, confused.
Your boss looks like a deer caught in the headlights, but her expression suddenly melts into relief.
“Oh, I’m so glad you two got here! Everything was a mess there were, uh, robbers! Yes, yes—nasty thieves got into the building.”
That doesn’t make any sense. What would thieves want to steal from a publishing business anyway?
She cuts you off when you’re about to point out her suspicious behavior, “There were so many of them, I have no idea how they got in! I was going back to pick up some things, and the place was already like this.”
“My dear…” Editor Tildie looks at you with mock concern, “You didn’t leave the door unlocked, did you?”
How dare she?
“You’re so full of shit.” Zoro tsks, inching his blade closer to her skin. “I would have noticed if a bunch of guys went through the front door.”
You blink when the puzzle clicks in your head. “She was in here the whole time.”
“You can’t prove anything, you wannabe writer!” Editor Tildie bursts out, her expression once again shifting back to panic.
“Who do you think they’re going to believe?” She glares, daring you. “You? Some no-name writer? Or ME, the Chief—”
Zoro knocks her head with the hilt of his sword. She falls with a thud.
You run a hand through your hair, letting out a long sigh. You’re exhausted, but you should really investigate why your boss did all this then try to put the blame on you.
Like the others, your desk was trashed. Even your notes are scattered all over the floor. The map you were painstakingly studying was torn in half. But strangely, the other things you had been working on are missing.
Zoro walks around the desk. “Over here.” He says, having found something.
It’s a large duffel bag, filled to the brim with papers of… rejected articles? You sift through the contents, they all seem to be your co-workers’ recent work. You remember proofreading several of them, everyone has been doing so well lately.
But why would the Chief Editor steal these after rejecting all of them?
“Could you watch her for a minute, please?” You ask Zoro. “I need to check her office.”
Zoro looks at you strangely, you can’t quite pinpoint his expression. It’s half ‘you’re leaving me here, really?’ and half ‘will you be okay?’.
“Scream if you get into trouble.” He sighs, settling into your office chair. “‘Cause you eventually find it.”
You leave, shaking your head fondly. So he does care.
Inside the Chief Editor’s office, things are a mess as well. You suspect that was probably done to throw investigators off. But she left some things here, and from there, it’s easy to put together what happened.
A briefcase sits on her desk. It’s left open, with several letters lying inside. They’re all correspondence with famous newspapers.
‘The East Blue Daily would be delighted to host your article on the events in Orange Town. Please submit a draft at your earliest convenience. We are excited to...’
You have to set the letter down and stop reading. This bitch was planning to steal everyone’s work. Fury rushes into your head as you let out a disbelieving laugh. How could she do this after tearing everyone down?
It finally makes sense why she never greenlit any of the best articles. She probably sent them to other companies claiming they were her original work.
Judging from the other letters and her packed bags, she likely intended for this to be her last stunt. The Oceanic Times would sink into nothing, and she would be off to work for some famous paper.
And she was right. If you and Zoro hadn’t caught her, no one other than your co-workers would believe you that she did this. And none of you were reputable enough to be considered credible. You would probably have to take the fall for leaving the door unlocked, just like she planned.
Zoro calls out your name when you’ve been in here for a few minutes. Despite how drained and tired you feel, you gather the evidence in the suitcase, carrying it out with you.
You must look worse than you thought, because Zoro’s brows furrow in concern when he sees you.
Zoro hasn’t gotten up from your chair. He remains silent and still, but his attention on you is unwavering.
“She was planning to steal our work.” You explain, sitting on top of your desk. “I would’ve been powerless.”
“Would’ve been.” Zoro says. “But you’re not.”
When he stands, you worry that he might be leaving you. But instead, he drags Tildie (who you notice has been tied up) and traps her in her own office. Zoro moves a desk to block the door.
As he pushes it, your eyes follow the movement of his arms. You have to turn away to hide your flustered expression. For some reason, you remember Tildie’s words about your article: this is highly inappropriate.
He comes back, reclaiming his (your) chair. His hands reach for something under the desk. Under your legs. This is highly—
All thoughts in your head stop on their tracks when he meets your eyes again. He’s holding the whiskey you mentioned. You were about to mention your surprise that he didn’t drink any yet, but the words die in your throat. It’s entrancing the way his eyes seem to glow the same color as the liquid.
Zoro taps the glass with his fingers. “I think this bottle has both our names on it.”
If you were in a normal state of mind, you would probably be embarrassed by how much you’re crying in front of Roronoa Zoro. Maybe Zoro would even regret offering you a drink.
You’re not drunk yet, but you’re probably getting there since you’re becoming an emotional mess. Thankfully, Zoro is an excellent listener. You let everything out.
“I just want to write. I want people to read my work.” You sob as you tape your map of the East Blue back together.
Zoro hums, indicating he hears you. One of his arms is extended on your desk, laden with strips of tape. How you managed to use Roronoa Zoro as a tape dispenser is beyond you, but you feel strangely proud of it.
“Why don’t you write, then?” Zoro asks, not taking his eyes off you.
“I can’t!” You sniff before pulling another piece of tape from his skin. “Tildie—that bitch—do you know her? She’s awful, she never approves of our good articles.”
“She’s gone now.” He says. “You can write what you want.”
“Oh.” Right. He’s right, of course he is. “Okay then.”
There’s a beat of silence while you fix your map. When you’re done, you beam at Zoro.
“I’ll write about you.”
He lets out a breathy laugh. “Will you, now?”
“You can bet on it.” Smoothing your fingers over your mended map, you say wistfully, “I wonder where you’ll head off to next.”
Before he can answer that, you voice out a thought that feels strangely sad.
“...I wonder if you’ll come back.”
You can’t even meet his eyes anymore. Half-drunk or not, you knew how embarrassing that was to say. You only met a few hours ago, but why does it feel like you’ll miss him more than anything when he leaves?
“That depends,” Zoro clears his throat. “Are you going to give me a reason to?”
The way your face lit up with shock and happiness was so adorable that it caught Zoro by surprise. He almost lets out a full laugh, but he manages to conceal it with a fake cough.
Leaning down, you grab his shoulder and pull him to you. The office chair rolls over to right where you want him.
This is highly inappropriate… But you can’t help yourself when you respond, “You can bet on that too.”
Kissing Zoro feels electric. You feel your head go fuzzy and your hands are eager to hold onto something. So you hold onto him; the back of his neck—thread your fingers into his hair. He keeps his hands on your waist. They do not wander, but he grips you like you’re some sort of lifeline.
Lifeline.
You break the kiss abruptly, getting an epiphany. This whole experience was a mess, but this could be the lifeline you've been waiting for.
Zoro groans, trying to pull you down for another kiss, but you stop him with a grin, “Do you think I could ask you a few questions?”
Before the interview, Zoro set some ground rules. A few of them involved you, like how you were not to disclose your relationship unless absolutely necessary, since it could put you in danger.
Others involved his crew, such as he couldn’t go into detail with the members and their abilities. That would just be too risky.
The questions themselves don’t necessarily matter to you, since the interview alone will be a huge boost for The Oceanic Times. So you agree to all of his terms… Including the one where he gets a kiss for each answer he gives.
“When you met Luffy,” You begin, “Did you know that you were going to follow him? Or did it take some convincing?”
“Convincing.” Zoro answers.
You wait for him to elaborate. “...Is that it?”
“Yes.” He responds before nudging you, “That’s two.”
Rolling your eyes playfully, you kiss him twice but pull away before he can deepen it.
He frowns at you, and you laugh as you ask your next question, “So you didn’t plan on becoming a pirate?”
“No.”
“...”
“...”
“...Zoro, stop making me ask more than one question.” You say, unimpressed.
“Don’t ask questions that can be answered with one word, then.” He quips back challengingly.
You hate that he’s got you there. You miss his lips on purpose, kissing his cheek in retaliation.
“What was that?” Zoro complains.
“A kiss.” You answer smugly as you write things down in your notebook. You hit him with your last question.
“Why do you follow your captain?”
To your credit, this one makes him think for a minute.
“...Because we all have dreams, and we’re all going to get there together.”
You smile at him, touched. “That’s beautiful.”
Zoro makes a face, leaning back into his seat. “Nevermind, don’t write that down. I take it back.”
“Aw,” You tease. “I wonder what your captain will say about that.”
Zoro grumbles something about how he shouldn't have answered that, but you can tell he meant it. But not to worry, you weren’t about to write some sap piece his enemies can use against him.
You were going to make breaking news.
That was the plan. Or it was, until you fell asleep at some point during the night. You had pulled over another chair, working your typewriter to the bone as you burned through your adrenaline rush.
You woke up the next morning with Zoro leaning on your shoulder; he was still asleep. You took this quiet minute as an opportunity to admire him.
Things would have gone so much differently if he hadn't been around. You probably would have gone out to help the librarian with those thugs alone, and you wouldn’t have made it back to the office soon enough to catch Tildie.
Realization dawns on you. Tildie probably hired those thugs herself, so that you would be preoccupied. You make a mental note to have those thugs questioned later.
All that’s happened… It was scary, yet exciting, since Zoro was with you. He makes you feel eager to find the next big story to write about.
He rouses at that moment, eyes slowly blinking awake. He yawns and stretches, and when he properly looks at you, he shakes his head at your expression.
“Now I know what face you make when you want to go looking for trouble.”
After you reach out to the authorities, Zoro leaves to find his crew. You were sure they were worried sick by now, since he’s been gone so long. He tells you that they’re scheduled to leave this afternoon.
You’ll miss him, but you know it’s for the best.
The harbor is bustling with life when you get there, the complete contrast to how it was months ago. Funny how in both times your feet take you here, you’re wondering where a certain group of pirates are.
But your pirate is easy to find, he’s waiting for you by his crew’s ship.
“Came to give me a reason to come back?” Zoro jests, taking your hand once you’re close enough.
“Couldn’t wait to see you leave, actually.” You joke. He startles you by pulling you close.
You’re about to kiss him when he spots something over your head that makes him frown. Your eyes follow his gaze to find his crew members watching you both.
“Don’t mind us! We’re just enjoying the show!” The one with a bandana on his head yells out.
“Did I miss something? I missed something, didn’t I?” A blond man asks, his face completely flabbergasted.
“I think we all did.” The woman next to him remarks.
“But we’re really happy for you, Zoro!” Their captain cheers and whoops.
Indeed, now might be a good time for the sea to swallow you up. Maybe you should jump?
“Get lost.” Zoro snaps at them. They all holler and laugh, but do as he says.
“Um,” You say. Maybe you should just give him his farewell present to distract yourself from the embarrassment. “I got you this.” You hand him a folded piece of paper.
It’s your article on Orange Town. One of his very first adventures, and the moment you first heard of him retyped on a special kind of stationery and everything. You even made sure the ink is good quality so that it doesn’t fade. (You also spritzed it with your perfume, but he doesn’t need to know that.)
“Ask your friends to read it, please?” You request. “Then tell me what you all think about it.”
Zoro glances at the paper, recognizing how much work you put into it, and how much you went through to get to where you are now.
“I’m sure it’s perfect.” The soft, small smile he gives you makes you feel weak in the knees.
He pulls you in again, his arms embracing your waist. You respond by draping your arms over his shoulders. Your fingers play with the back of his hair.
“Write to me?” You ask softly, only for him to hear.
“Writing isn't really my thing.”
You pout.
“...I’ll send you a postcard or something.”
A laugh escapes you. That was such a Zoro kind of compromise. “I’ll take it.”
“As for me,” He presses his forehead to yours. “I’ll take this.”
The kiss is different from the kisses you shared last night. Maybe it’s because you don’t know when the next one will be. He kisses you dearly, showing you how much he cares when he holds the sides of your face tenderly.
“...See you soon.” You greet him.
The words strangely get stuck in Zoro’s throat, but he gets them out nonetheless.
“See you soon.”
“Right,” Sanji taps a pen on his notepad. “Does anyone else need anything from the market?”
Luffy approaches him, reading the contents of the list over his shoulder. “Nope! I think you got everything.”
If the captain says so, he must be right. But Sanji makes a face, still feeling like he's missing something. He's double checking the cupboards when Nami walks into the kitchen.
“Nami!” Sanji beams. “Do you need me to get you anything from the market?”
“Sanji thinks he's forgetting something.” Luffy explains to her, pointing to the notepad left on the counter.
Leave it to Nami to figure out what's missing at a glance. “Zoro's newspaper.” She says, and the boys nod in realization at the same time.
“Ah, right.” Sanji scribbles The Oceanic Times onto the list.
“I’m actually really impressed by her.” Nami says on her way to crash on the couch. “She writes well.”
“Damn right she does.” Zoro says, entering the room with Usopp right behind him.
“Yeah but man,” Usopp complains, “You need to let us finish reading. You always hog it or give us a time limit on it.”
Zoro merely shrugs, like that isn’t his concern. “Buy one for yourself then.”
Nami smirks. “She must have you really whipped if you’re marketing for her.”
“I don’t think she needs it, actually.” Luffy comments. “The paper is doing really well, isn’t it?”
A small smile forms on Zoro’s lips. “Damn right it is.”
When he gets his hands on The Oceanic Times later that day, Zoro reads every bit of it. He rereads your name over and over again, proud of the ‘Editor in Chief’ title that goes before it.
Though he reads every single word, he always skips the small gossip corner first, where anonymous people send in messages or thoughts.
Every week, like clockwork, there’s an anonymous reader who submits messages for her distant lover. When he first saw it, he instantly knew it was you.
‘I heard you were injured. I can’t believe you’re making me worry like this.’
Zoro laughs, and everyone in the kitchen freezes.
He slowly, almost cautiously, glances up from the paper. The Straw Hats look at him with a tricky sparkle in their eyes that makes him uncomfortable.
“Don’t even—” Zoro starts, but it’s too late. Usopp is already standing on his chair, acting like a newspaper salesman.
“Step right up! Read all about it! It’s breaking news: The Roronoa Zoro giggled because of his girlfriend—”
“You have three seconds to run.” Zoro threatens while folding the newspaper carefully. Usopp runs for his life.

WIP TITLE GAME
rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Tagged by @galaxycunt
I am also gonna tag @operationroots @hey-august @lostfirefly @fanaticsnail
Okay ready for the excitement (I am not really creative with document names)
"Untitled Document" is Taron and Buggy smut. I'm quickly doing an edit on Chapter 2 before I post it today or tomorrow.
"Tumblr Prompts" is where I work on requests/prompts. There's only one in there so far and it's Buggy and her Husbands for the Swap AU.
"slow burn request" is Cupcake x Buggy. I'm working on Chapter 15 to get the smut going again. There's a possibility I could break 20 chapters with this story Im realizing.
"400 follower story" is slowly getting worked on. It's the story I had people vote for some things for it and am prolly two pages in? It's going to be fluffy and smutty.
"bakery story" is Birdie and Buggy. I don't imagine that one going past 12 chapters.
"Untitled Document" is my Howl's Moving Castle AU. Still working slowly on that. I think I'm going to set aside a day for me to just hash that out and get it finished to slowly share it.
I actually have a file called "WIP" where I throw in chunks of writing that I didn't like for something but wanted to keep around just in case. It's over 100 pages. Some included things were a bit more angst for stories that I didn't want to add in. There's enough angst out there and I didn't want it in my writing necessarily.
Things that I cut were a misunderstanding between young Buggy and Sunny caused by Benji being a little shit. Benji told Buggy that Sunny had a date with someone else when he showed up one day so Buggy assumed he was being led on the entire time. The two had a fight over it. It involved Sunny quitting Miss Pins' and leaving. I couldn't find a good way to fix the situation so I cut it.
Another thing was Buggy suggesting to Birdie he leave her on an island somewhere until the baby was born because why not, he didn't want to leave his ship and be on land while she waited out the rest of her pregnancy. But I didn't want to undo some of their growth. They'll still have some misunderstandings but I felt that was too much.
And Cupcake and Buggy had many hiccups. I decided I didn't like how I was writing Cupcake so it changed to misunderstandings in the bedroom instead of Buggy losing his temper all the damn time and Cupcake crying constantly.

I also thought I'd make a quick post going over my experiences and observations using the beta editor, as someone who put off switching for months and months and has now been using it for about a week. If you're putting off making the switch because you're not sure what it will be like, and are worried about committing to a broken editor, this post is for you.
General Observations
Overall, the editor itself really isn't that much different. A few things are in different places, such as blockquotes being under the dropdown and being called indented now, but it's not the buggy, broken mess that I half-expected it to be. A lot of the bugs that various people have reported on have already been fixed by staff. (And you can report bugs or just general complaints to staff! There's a feedback section of their form and they are actively taking user suggestions into account. Just remember to be nice about it.)
Sometimes bold, italics, and small text will act up and not apply correctly. But frankly, those would act up on the legacy editor, too. And if things are being weird, it's fairly easy to select the offending text and just fix it.
Things I Like
By far my favorite feature of the beta editor is the ability to disable reblogs on a post. As someone who runs a roleplay blog for a pretty popular canon character, I've gotten used to typing all of the names L.ike Th/is in order to prevent my posts from showing up in search, and slapping a huge "do not reblog" disclaimer onto everything -- only to have some personal who apparently can't read reblog it anyway. But now I can simply take my OOC posts, headcanons, metas, whatever, and set it so that no one can reblog them.
I love the ability to edit tags without having to completely delete and rewrite them. I've gotten so used to having to redo tags over a single typo that the realization of this the other day left me in shock. You can just click inside the tag and change any of the text that you want.
The new content label system is pretty good. You can clearly designate a post as having mature content, and your followers can choose in settings whether they want to have those flagged posts viewable or not. It's another feature I'd love to see Tumblr expand on, and add some more options to flag a post as, it's a really good start.
The post scheduling system is much more clear than before. You can actually schedule a post and feel confident in the exact date and time that it will go up, unlike the previous system that felt like a wild shot in the dark.
You can add colored text to posts pretty easily. There are a bunch of preset colors, and while I haven't played around with it much, I understand that adding custom colors via HTML is pretty straightforward. It's not a feature I personally use much, but it's neat.
There are also additional font and styling options, like Lucille, Chat, and Quote. Again, not things I use very often, but cool features to have.
Things I Dislike
Tumblr will remember your old tags, but without any capitalization. If your frequently used tags have capitalization and you want them to be consistent, you'll have to retype or paste them in every time.
When you paste an image URL into a post, it will insert the image as before, but include that link below it, with no way to easily remove it. This is an issue for those using gifs or icons with transparency, and simply pasting the image in directly will cause it to display incorrectly. As someone who uses a webpage of my icons when working on threads, I now have to download the icon I want to use and upload it, which is a minor annoyance compared to simply copying the image link and pasting it in.

Recore: Definitive Edition
Developer: Amature Studio, LLC, Comcept Publisher: Xbox Game Studios Rrp: £14.99 (Humblebundle and Steam) Released: 14th September 2018 Available on: Humblebundle and Steam Played Using: An Xbox One Control Pad Approximate game length: 14 Hours
I remember seeing the trailers for this game when it was first announced, much was promised and it didn't look bad. But what have we learned about trailers? Most of the time they over promise and the games end up under delivering, and it seems that this was the case with Recore. When this game was originally released it got absolutely panned by the critics and understandably so. Buggy game play and slow load times along with a £60 price tag, it was doomed to fail. Just to add insult to injury within months of the games release Horizon Zero Dawn dropped and I can tell you choosing between this game and that one is no contest. Two years after its initial debut the Definitive Edition was released. This new version fixed quite a lot of bugs and reduced the load times as well as seemingly adding a new ending if you did enough. With this review though I'll not be taking into account how the game originally released but from what my was experience at the time of writing.
The game takes place on the planet of Far Eden which has been selected for terraforming for the remnants of humanity to live on after a cataclysm has destroyed Earth. This process of terraforming will take a long time to come to fruition, hundreds of years in fact. Due to this, Corebots (a form AI controlled robot) are sent down to handle the task while the humans remain in cryo-sleep, occasionally waking one or two specialists to oversee things and go back into stasis. This is where you come in, you play as Joule, a young woman who has awoke from cryo-sleep to find that something has gone very wrong, the terraforming hasn't occurred and nearly all the Corebots have become murderous. I say nearly because Joule is accompanied by Mack, her own trusty Corebot, and as you play through the game you'll have more Corebots that join your cause.
Tumblr media
I've been tempted to call this game 'open world' but it doesn't meet my personal qualifiers to be classed as that. The world you play in is separated into specific areas, each time you pass from one area to another (or enter and exit most dungeons) you have to wait for a loading screen. This is quite frustrating when the world itself is quite small and that other games had been released long before this one with bigger worlds and very few loading areas (such as Skyrim and Dying Light).
Each Corebot has a coloured core (thus the name), the colour of the core dictates how the Corebot will act in combat. Typically you'll fight Corebots that are one of three colours; red, yellow or blue. Red Corebots tend to be more aggressive and can perform attacks that have a damage over time effect. Yellow Corebots have an attack that slows you down and lastly blue Corebots have an ability that will stun you, forcing you to waste precious moments freeing yourself from the effect. There are other Corebots you find that are combinations of colours, such as green or orange who can perform attacks from both colours. The last, and most important, colour is white, White Corebots are bosses and will change colour to perform attacks related to that colour.
Tumblr media
In combat herself Joule uses a rifle to take down the various Corebots that attack, however she isn't alone, she also has a Corebot companion of her own to assist her. Joule can switch her rifle to use one of four ammo types each of which corresponding to the enemy Corebots colour (Red, Yellow and Blue). Shooting the Corebot with the matching ammo does increased damage and can even interrupt attacks. You also can command your companion Corebot to perform their own special moves on selected targets which can really even the odds. Combat is the only time you can collect enemy cores (more on that later) which cannot be attained by simply destroying the Corebot in question. So while in combat you have to decide if you want the materials the destroyed Corebot will drop or their core. If you want to collect the core you have to first weaken the Corebot to a specific point (which is indicated on their health bar) and then push the [Right Analogue stick] in. Once you do this you enter into a tug of war with that Corebot, though to be honest it has more in common with a fishing game really. Pull back on the analogue stick to try and dislodge the Corebots core, if the line glows red you need to be careful and if its white you have to release it completely or the line will break. Of course, while you're busy having a tug of war the other Corebots aren't simply going to ignore you and any damage you receive will immediately end the tug of war.
The cores and materials you collect are used to improve your friendly Corebots, which is done through two methods (both of which can only be done at a workbench) researching blueprints or fusing cores. Blueprints are found out in the world in chests etc once brought to a work bench you can research them to create new Corebot pieces each of which have stat increases and sometimes special abilities. Doing this will cost materials that you find in the world. Remember I mentioned about collecting cores? This is where those cores become important. Collected cores can be 'fused' to give stat increases to your Corebots making them much more potent in combat. Red cores increase attack power, yellow defence and blue energy (which is used for directed attacks).
Tumblr media
Ok, lets talk about the world this game takes place on, Far Eden. From what we're told its a desert planet, with a breathable atmosphere and not much else. The problem is that the world is TOO well realised in that regard. There is nothing alive on this world (apart from the Corebots), the majority of the game is varying shades of brown under a blue sky. Sure, they break it up with the some of the remnants of the terraforming machines but those are just as lifeless and dull. Frankly, playing in this world became a tedious affair, I started using the fast travel as much as possible because I didn't want to have to trudge through that sea of brown again.
How do I feel about Recore... well in its current state I don't feel it deserves the ire it seems to be garnering. I'm not saying this game is good, per say, but it certainly isn't terrible and definitely not deserving of the 'mostly negative' it has on Steam. That being said... play Horizon Zero Dawn instead, the gameplay is better, it's prettier and frankly has a much better story.
If this appeals to you perhaps try;
Horizon Forbidden Dawn Mad Max

One thing that consistently amazes me is Tumblr's ability to get worse at what it does. Like, they recently rolled out a new post editor, which has fun features like:
* If your paragraph doesn't end with punctuation, hitting enter at the end of the paragraph will move the cursor down a line, then bounce it to the beginning of the paragraph, then put it back where it started, at the end of the line (this wasn't even a bug I knew about when I started this post, I just had to add the ':' after 'like' before it would let me write this bullet point)
* Some formatting things, like using ctrl-v to paste in an image, will delete all the text in your post.
* When I use the web browser on my phone, the tag editing field stays off the bottom of the screen, hidden by the phone's keyboard, such that I can't see what I've actually written until after I've added the tag.
* It no longer suggests tags I have personally used in the past, which was a really useful feature; I pretty much never use the suggested tags anymore, and in fact wish I could turn them off.
* When you select text in a mobile browser, the browser shows various options like "copy" and "paste" above it. Tumblr shows various formatting options in exactly the same place, rendering them unusable unless you select text and then really quickly choose a formatting option before it gets hidden by the browser menu. * I copied the whole text of this before bolding that bit above, just in case; this was good, because deleting formatted text apparently also deletes all text before it on that line
* Of course, trying to paste it back in just made the whole page go white, and I had to reload the page before I could paste anything in, and when I did it changed the formatting and added a bunch of blank lines even though *I was pasting in exactly what I'd copied from this window*
It's just incredible to me how Tumblr keeps changing hands and yet every new company that works on it seems incapable of changing anything without breaking things left and right. "A text field you can edit" has been a largely solved problem for years, and somehow they can't help but screw it up Also for some reason while I wrote that last sentence it added a new line at the end of the post every time I started a new word.

“Will y’gotta hold still,” Eddie sat on the bed wrangling Willow attempting to tame the chaos of curls she inherited from him. “Willow Joan if you don’t sit still-“
“Sowwey daddy,” the girl finally settled between his knees, a Barbie in hand. Eddie took the spray bottle to her hair, the fine mist dampening the copper locks. Another hand gathered the ringlets and attempted to create a ponytail. Every time he thought it would look good, a chunk of hair would fall out of the hair band. Willow enjoyed having her hair played with and didn’t mind it taking ten times longer than when you fixed it.
“God, how does your mom do this,” Eddie huffed, taking the hair bow out of her hair. You turned the water off in the shower and stepped out into the steamed room, Eddie hearing you and calling out “Baby! Can you help?” You let out a laugh. “Jesus Christ you need like three hands to do this.”
You wrapped your robe around you, tying the sash tight while pushing the door open and allowing the steam to drift into the bedroom where the Munson duo sat. Eddie looked relieved to see you. He had tried to help out the best he could but that Munson hair was just hard to tame.
Things had moved fast, faster than you anticipated. After an eventful night of trick or treating, Willow and Eddie had fallen asleep on the couch. You couldn’t bear to tear them apart and instead covered them up in their spot. You thought that would be the only time but slowly Eddie started spending the night. After bath time and stories, you and Eddie would sit on the back porch sipping on something a little stronger than Willow’s apple juice and talk about your day, it was only natural that eventually he would follow you upstairs and fall asleep. “Just like old times,” he would mumble when his head hit the pillow. The few nights in mid-November he had to go to Indianapolis to talk with the record company about the next album, you tossed and turned all night. You couldn’t sleep without him next to you. Definitely just like old times. By Thanksgiving, Eddie had a drawer in your room and with Christmas rolling around he was almost completely moved into the house.
You shooed Eddie from the spot on the bed, spritzing her hair a few times and gathering the hair into a ponytail, setting down the spritzer, and grabbing the comb. You raked the teeth through her roots, gathering every strand into your grasp. Finally, you wound the pink elastic around the curls a few times until it was secure. Eddie stared, his mouth hanging open in disbelief at how easy it was for you.
“Why can’t my hair look like daddy,” Willow patted at her smoothed-out mane, pouting at you.
“When you get back from gramps house today I’ll take it down and show you how to headbang, ‘Kay?” Eddie crouched down to her level, offering her his fist. Willow butted her tiny fist against his with an enthusiastic head-bob.
——-
“What about this?” Eddie held up a little denim jacket with a grin. “I can put patches on it. Start her own little punk jacket.”
“Yes because the Wiggles are so punk rock,” you rolled your eyes as he placed the jacket in the buggy. “Seriously Ed. What are we getting her for Christmas this year?”
The two of you had been to every toy store in the area. Searched high and low for a toy she didn’t already have, or a type of clothing article she would wear. At the moment she was very into trying to look like her dad. It was adorable.
“I dunno,” he shrugged, moving to another clothing rack to look through the pink frills. “We could give her a brother or sister.” He offered with a smirk.
“Oh no, she just got potty trained. I am not about to start changing diapers again so soon Munson,” you lightly shoved the shopping cart into his leg. “Besides, I’m going to be married the next time I have a kid.”
“S’that so?”
“Plus, I am not about to go through another pregnancy in the god-awful Indiana summer,” you hadn’t been paying attention to Eddie as you rambled. All you could think about were dirty diapers and the exhaustion that came with being heavily pregnant during the hottest months of the year. “It’s pure torture, absolute- what the hell are you doing?”
Eddie was caught, emerald stone in the palm of his hand when you turned to face him. He had his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth trying to concentrate on holding the ring and clasping the necklace around his neck. “Give me a minute,” he struggled and eventually got the clasp fixed. He extended his hand, your old ring sparkling. “Y’said so yourself- you wanna be married before we have our next one.”
“So you thought it would be a great idea to propose to me in the Walmart toddler section?”
“I figured I’d give it a shot.”
“You are unbelievable Eddie,” you shook your head, leaning back and gazing at your ring. “I’m not accepting, you’re gonna have to do better than this.”
“Oh c’mon bug, you know you wanna,” he taunted you, pushing the stone closer to you. “Pretty sure everyone already thinks we’re married anyway.”
You pushed his hand away, frowning. “Seriously Eddie. I want you to propose to me for real. Not just offering me my ring randomly. Make it count this time…”
You watched him frown, lips turning into a pout as he placed the ring on his pinky finger. All you could do was roll your eyes, pulling him in for s tiny peck on the lips. “Don’t propose on Christmas either, you’ve already done that one.”
“Jesus Christ, why are you making this so hard?”
——-
Multicolored lights wrapped around the tiny front porch banister, reflecting in the eyes of Willow and Dustin as they sat outside watching Eddie shovel the driveway. Dustin was supposed to be helping but of course, the minute Will laid eyes on him he couldn’t do anything else.
“Y’know I would appreciate it if you would, I dunno, grab a shovel and help out,” Eddie barked, leaning against the Station Wagon.
“Who’s gonna watch the little princess?”
“Her mother, who happens to be inside.”
“I wanna be out hewe with you,” Willow shifts in Dustin’s lap, trying to look at her dad. “Daddy?”
“Yeah, princess?”
“Awe you almost done?”
“Almost baby, I gotta few more feet to go. Y’wanna go inside where it’s warm?” He could see the pink creeping up her nose as she shook her head. Recently she had become clingy to both of you, you weren’t sure what it was. This week it was Eddie’s turn, she only wanted him to cuddle and play with. Sighing Eddie put back the shovel where he found out, bounded up the stairs and scooped his kid out of Dustin’s lap. “C’mon kiddo let’s get you some hot chocolate.”
You were curled up in the chair, a fluffy blanket pulled into your lap delving into a book when the front door burst open, bringing in wintery air. “Fair maiden, would you be so kind to make a hot beverage for us wearily travelers?” Eddie called from the doorway, stepping out of his boots. You glanced up smiling at the sight. Willow was wrapped in different blankets, only her fave could be seen. Eddie had snow in his hair and all over his jacket. Dustin looked fine, just a little cold.
“There’s some ready in the kitchen with some marshmallows ready for you.”
Willow yelled out what you assumed is a “huzzah” as the trio trampled into the tiny space. You turned your attention back to the book in your hand and tried to reinvest yourself into the story.
“So how’re you gonna propose to her?” Dustin asked, looking at the calendar on the wall. It had started to fill up with dates, December 31st circled in red and in Eddie’s sloppy handwriting ‘Corroded Coffin playing @ Hideout 4 NYE show’
“Well I was going to do it on Christmas morning but she shot that idea down real fast,” he sighed, watching Willow sip her drink. “I dunno, maybe it’s too soon. Maybe I should wai-“
“Do it New Year’s Eve, at the Hideout. See if Wayne or her mom will watch Willow for the rest of the night and when the countdown starts to happen, propose.” Dustin shrugged finally peeling his eyes from the calendar on the wall.
Eddie turned to Willow, eyes bright with the idea. “You can’t tell mommy what you heard, ‘kay?”
“Okay daddy,” she nodded her head, curls bouncing everywhere.

Thinking about switching to Apple Mac… what do I need to know as a lifetime Microsoft Windows user?
So my fully spec’d out Dell XPS 15 9500 packed it in recently after almost 2 years of use (horrific, right? 😲) due to a Windows 11 BIOS update wiping my service tag and making my OS nearly non-functional. It will not let me reprogram the service tag through the BIOS settings so my £2, 500 laptop is now virtually useless since I cannot access the features of the OS within manufacturing mode. Instead of calling up Dell Support (warranty has expired - go figure 🙄) and getting it fixed or even getting it replaced, I’ve been considering switching to an Apple Mac. There’s a couple of reasons why I want to make the switch:
1. Quite frankly, the main reason is I just don’t want to deal with Microsoft Windows anymore. It’s just gotten so bad lately with the constant updates and “upgrades” to Windows 11 that I feel like any Windows PC/laptop I buy no matter how high-end it might be… Windows 11 will just ruin it. And downgrading the OS is going backwards. I don’t want to do that. I like the latest and should-be greatest. But there’s nothing great about Windows 11. Navigating around the OS itself is buggy and laggy as fuck because there’s so many problems that come with “upgrading” to Windows 11. And I know if I buy another Windows PC/laptop, the operating system will either be installed with Windows 11 out-of-the-box or Windows 10 will eventually force me to upgrade to Windows 11. I don’t want to deal. Yes, there will be things I’ll miss about using the Windows OS which are in my comfort zone… but at this point I’ll take the kicks for the ticks because there’s just too many restrictions/limitations as it is so it makes even the familiar and enjoyable parts of Windows frustrating and many of the Windows-only compatible programs/applications I love to use like Microsoft Word and Windows Media Player are bound to these restrictions/limitations. In a nut-shell: Windows is not user-friendly for me anymore. So making a switch is necessary for me.
2. Another reason is I own an iPhone 13 Pro Max so going into the Apple ecosystem should be a seamless transition as far as it’s compatibility with another Apple device goes (please let me know if this is not the case as I don’t know) and that will save me so much time and energy because working an iPhone with Windows is a hassle. It is not easy transferring back and forth from an Apple iPhone to Windows PC/laptop with Microsoft and Apple being rival companies since forever. Suffice to say, I did a system restore on my laptop about a month ago to try and fix some of the bugs Windows 11 has given it, so I’ve lost all my programs/applications and settings. Specifically my 200+ iTunes library playlists which would be massively time-consuming to recreate every single one over again when I could just plug in my iPhone to my laptop and easily transfer them to it. I do have my music, video, photo and document files backed-up to a Seagate external hard-drive, which is compatible with both Windows and Mac, so it’s not an issue for me that I cannot access my files on the laptop anymore due to it constantly being in manufacturing mode because I can still access them on my smart phone and my smart TV. All I would need the laptop for is to download, sync and upload those files to those other devices and to the internet. Plus I also own an external CD/DVD drive which is also compatible with both Windows and Mac just in case I want to do some more TV show ripping. I still have the 3 final seasons of Charmed to store on my external hard-drive and to eventually sync to my iPhone along with Xena and Buffy. Yes, I am that kind of person that likes my favourite TV shows on every device at once because I can’t stand streaming and projecting. It’s slow and a pain in my pocket. I’d rather just have all the video files on all my devices to watch and edit whenever and wherever. That is convenient for me.
3. I’ve been researching about Final Cut Pro because I’ve wanted to get back into video editing my favourite TV shows again and making gifs for them to upload to Tumblr. The way that Final Cut Pro functions so simplistically seems to be right up my alley because I’ve always found it a struggle learning the complicated process of working Adobe Premiere and Photoshop beyond the basics. So I feel like Final Cut Pro would be much more suitable to my needs as a video editor and gif maker and the improvements in speed and efficiency (Adobe programs are crash beasts) will certainly be a great deal more worth it than Premiere and Photoshop ever were to me. Plus - you buy Final Cut Pro once and you have it for always VS monthly payouts to Adobe to keep Premiere/Photoshop and you can do both video editing and gif making on Final Cut Pro so no need for 2 separate programs to do 2 different essentially similar things.
4. Mac’s are quick and quiet simultaneously. They use just as much processing power as a Windows PC/laptop does but the machine is practically silent no matter what you do with or on it. I can’t count how many times I’ve opened up my Dell XPS and just messed around in the OS without opening any programs/applications and the fans on it revved like they were in a monster truck rally. Then I would open internet tabs on websites that automatically played videos and gifs like Tumblr and it would start crashing and self-closing on the application or sometimes even shutting down the machine itself. It was getting beyond aggravating to keep using it when it’s power functionality just wasn’t up to what I paid for it. With a Mac, not only will the compatibility with my iPhone be unrestricted and unlimited straight away… but it will also be extremely quick and quiet straight away.
5. Safari VS Windows Explorer/Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox or any other Windows-based internet browser is night and day difference. Using Safari on my iPhone is a breeze like the fucking wind. It is so fast and efficient and useful and attractive… it absolutely floors any other kind of internet browser I have ever used on it. Which makes me really excited for how it’s going to work on a Mac laptop. If it’s this great to use on an iPhone with an 8th the processing power of a Windows PC/laptop - then I’m sure it’s out of this world to use it on a Mac. Having a really great internet browser matters to me because I am on the internet for all sorts of reasons. Yes, I primarily use the official social media apps for interacting with social media but there are times when I want to use the browser-based version. The actual website. And trying to do that with Chrome or Firefox, or at the very least, Explorer… is horrendous. It is so slow, the tabs and bookmarks are messy, and things just don’t work the way I want them to work. Then I use Safari to do all of that on my iPhone and it’s fantastic. It keeps up with all the browsing I do on the internet no matter how many tabs or bookmarks I have open on it. It’s significantly better than Chrome which is my default browser on my laptop. That’s always been the speediest and most efficient internet browser to use on a Windows PC/laptop but it still doesn’t compare to the ease-of-use Safari gives me on my iPhone. Moving to Mac from Windows will give me Safari immediately. No need to download it. No need to do any updates (I’m guessing - please tell me if I’m wrong) and I really would love to use it on my laptop.
So given these are the reasons why I would want to make the switch from Microsoft to Apple and Windows to Mac… what do I need to know having only ever used the former before aside from with my iPhone? What will I miss? What won’t have a Mac OS replacement? Do the programs/applications and settings function so differently that I won’t get used to them at all? Please let me know what I need to consider before I buy and get rid of the trash I have.

I decided to give some thoughts on the new FNAF game because it's giving me a lot of ideas for my story I'm working on, and there are some really good and not so good things in it. Edit: tags broke so I had to fix them.
For those who haven't played yet, here's a non spoiler review. The setting? Fantastic. Huge, pretty, so much detail and love put into it. The characters? Immaculate. More personality than any other FNAF game. The lore? Eh. Don't go in expecting more revelations than we already guessed with the hype theories. It has a lot of endings, sure, but not a lot of answers.
And yeah, FNAF games have always been vague about answers. As far as that goes, it's pretty average. You always had to get bits and snippets and put them together into a bigger story. But it feels like the bits and snippets don't make anything bigger this time. They either refer to things that don't have anything to do with the story, and so get ignored, or they tell you the obvious. There are a couple exceptions that are harder to find.
The mechanics are a little buggy and rushed but that's to be expected of a new game. For the most part it's very fun and enjoyable. I really liked it. Just don't expect a lot of far reaching story arcs beyond what we already know.
Spoilers under the cut.
So here's the lore we get. Vanessa went to therapy for her ongoing psychosis due to Glitchtrap and she hacked the mall's systems to put Glitchtrap inside. That's why the robots are all against you. No answer as to why Freddy isn't, though. And yeah, Vanessa is Vanny. Sorry to all of you who don't like that. I thought it was obvious from the get-go but some people really didn't want that for some reason.
You can do the secret Princess Quest games to free Vanessa's soul in one ending, defeating Glitchtrap and getting rid of Vanny. Vanessa and Gregory walk off into the sunset. There is also an ending where Gregory unmasks the dead Vanny and sees Vanessa, but then Vanessa is also shown on the burning mall. People think that's her ghost trapped in the fire.
The true ending has you go to the Pizzeria Simulator restaurant under the mall and fend off Afton. He is somehow still alive and in the Springtrap suit, which now has an endoskeleton for some reason even though it was a suit. Molten Freddy is also there and helps defeat him and then you set the building on fire. Considering how useless this makes the nice conclusion in Simulator, though, this probably accomplished nothing. And there's no answer about whether this also defeats Glitchtrap or if Afton and Glitchtrap are separated, meaning Vanny is still trapped.
There are implications that Gregory is not what he seems. Freddy says he's broken, he gets static effects a la Slenderman when Vanny or Moon are near, and Vanessa says he has no record. He's homeless in one ending but there are no other answers besides that.
Bonnie and Foxy were decommissioned but only get little blurbs mentioning that and nothing more. Apparently a lot of kids are missing and one blurb says "we all remember what happened to those kids" but again, nothing more on that.
We still don't know a lot of things. That's as far as the story went. The game was made more to be entertaining than give much lore. Maybe MatPat will figure out more than I put here. I liked the game a lot but I understand why people are irritated about the way the lore was handled.

@holyscream replied to your post “Tell me a story about Jeff the Killer and Ted the Caver going on a date.”
oh weird why is that there twice?
I deleted it from the original post when I first posted it (for some reason tumblr won't let me delete text posts?), and so now it's here twice. This is a side effect of the new post editor tumblr rolled out a couple weeks ago. There's a separate button for editing a post. I think the new feature is good but it's still very buggy.
I'll fix the tag, though

Hey tf2 junkies, I’ve recently fallen back into the wonderful hole that is TF2 and I’m having all kinds of a tf2 renaissance for myself which involves revisiting old ocs, reading fanfics from almost half a decade ago, and picking up my own abandoned fics too! But with that I’ve decided to finally do everyone the justice of properly editing all my posts over the past few years to include (drumroll please) TAGS!
Ever since taking my break from the fandom i’ve reblogged things at random but never taken the time to tag them! So by that measure there is a lot of undocumented stuff by means of my archives and this is first and foremost and archival blog! Hopefully over the next few days I’ll fix up all the missing tags (maybe it’ll take me a couple weeks. Tumblr’s been kinda buggy and I have life stuff going on) but this is my gift to anybody looking to go thru the organized tag system!
