You know what I would love?

If Ravi became a main in s8 (MANIFEST YALL 🙏🙏🙏) and we got like a rotating group of probies like the interns on Bones. Like a core group of 2-3 recurring characters who are probies and don’t all work the same shifts but shuffle around and have their own personalities and dynamics within the group.

Ik it’s probably not a feasible concept in the long-run, but I really wish we could see more of the shenanigans of training probies on the job like we got with Ravi in the beginning.

It would be a good way to bring back the core multiple calls per episode format and provide a comedic relief element to the angst/drama of the overarching story and it would be a great way of keeping casual fans engaged with people tuning in to see if their favorite probie came back

idk i was just thinking about how that kinda concept could work within the show and (possibly) bring the quality of the show back to what it was before it turned to a borderline soap opera in s7.

Buddie in S8 and Slow Burns:

so those of you who follow me or see my posts popping up in the buddie tags know that i am still apprehensive of believing that we will actually get buddie canon in s8. tim has done too much to destroy my trust in him as a writer, and the show has baited us with buddie far too many times for me to easily take anything as a “clear/obvious sign that buddie is happening” when it is just as likely that we are being clowned yet again

that being said, IF we get buddie canon, it needs to happen fairly quickly. I have seen a lot of people saying things like “I don’t want buddie to go canon until the s8 finale” which, i disagree with.

I know a lot of people are saying this because they want a mutual pining era, but i don’t think these people are grasping the fact that if they waited until the finale, that is 18 episodes of tv to fill with something of substance for buddie. Another eighteen episodes; almost eighteen hours of tv. Even with a mutual pining era, that is far too long for them to continue dragging this story out.

Yes, i know that if they are going for a slow burn, that that takes time, but good lord it’s been 6 seasons of actively building up to a relationship… they’ve had six years of stalling, they need to go ahead and fucking commit to it, not take 18 more agonizing episodes of them dragging their feet. If you commit to them having acknowledged feelings for each other, they don’t need more than one or two episodes of mutual pining before it would start getting old.

realistically, we could have a fully fleshed out queer arc for eddie AND mutual pining leading to buddie canon within 8a. 8 or 9 episodes is MORE than enough time to build up to that with what they have to work with— they’ve reached the point for conceivably going canon so many times that it feels like there isn’t any build anymore; it feels like they’ve parked the bus a half mile from the station, and have started doing a thorough inspection on all the parts after driving almost the whole distance.

i know we love drama and angst and slow burns— that’s the appeal of buddie as a ship; but this slowburn has been way beyond fully cooked since s4, and there is no need to keep cooking it (unless they’re just baiting us, which in that case we need to decide when enough is enough and call it a day on this show)

this is not a fanfic that has no expiration date. this show isn’t going to last forever. i ship buddie because i want to actually see them navigating a relationship— i don’t ship them to be edged for 7 years just for them to go canon for one singular episode. i want to see them bask in each other’s love, i want to see them living together with the happiness they’ve been chasing their whole lives, i want to see them encounter speedbumps, and go through hardships together. That is why i ship characters. The chase is fun for a while, but I actually want to see what happens once the chase is over, and them going canon in the last episode is not narratively satisfying to me, and at this point feels like a copout for the writers.

We don’t know how long past s8 this show will last. we don’t even know if we’re getting a s9, let alone more. it’s already unheard of for tv shows to reach this longevity post-2016, we can’t just go into each season assuming that we still have all the time in the world for them to give us buddie. the reality is we don’t have all the time in the world, and this is the make-or-break season.

we don’t need 18 more episodes of stagnant growth. if they’re going to give us buddie, they need to stop dragging it out and just give it to us if they actually intend to, not cop-out and give us a last minute kiss in the season/possible series finale.

anyway, getting off my soapbox for now, but i just wanted to get those thoughts off my chest.

and like with his little patch of chest hair and his happy trail plus his tattoos on his arms 😩🥵 sorry for being horny on main but yall…. 🤭🤭🤭this is the eddie we deserve (yes ik firefighters realistically have to stay in like peak shape but they should still give us this as a little treat 😍🫠)

Blog update/psa:

just wanted everyone to know i’m starting to restrict my blog on who can/can’t reply/dm me on here. I have gotten an uptick in people leaving bitchy/hateful replies, sending me or sending anonymous hate asks lately and i need to take measures to prevent this as much as i can.

i have not received any hateful dm’s in a while but i am going ahead and restricting that to only my mutuals; i’m sorry to those who have sent me sweet messages in the past, but the risk of getting some kind if hateful messages is too high right now, and i need to put my own mental safety first.

i am restricting replies to only my mutuals/followers and have made the decision to turn off anon asks indefinitely… i hate doing this because i genuinely love getting to interact with everyone and the kind messages i receive, but unfortunately the amount of hate and vitriol i receive from that side of the fandom is not worth the hassle of keeping it open.

I say often, the block and delete buttons are my friends and im not afraid to use them, but it comes to a point when even the act of deleting the hate is tiring, and i need to take the precautions to avoid what i can.

I’ve been vocal about not sharing anonymous hate asks publicly and giving thses people a platform for their vitriol, and in the cases i do post screenshots of replies/reblogs i always ensure the blog’s url is blocked out so that the person in question doesn’t get hate but also doesn’t get the satisfaction of being credited with what they always view as some sort of “gotcha” moment.

i’m sorry to the lovely lovely people who genuinely spread kindness and positivity through anon asks and dm’s, but unfortunately i have had to take these steps to prevent getting hate.

and yes ik that firefighting is more than fighting fires but we had like ONE CALL IN S7 RESPONDING TO AN ACTUAL FIRE AND IT WAS A SMALL CAR FIRE THAT WASNT EVEN THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE SCENE (not including bathena’s house or the warehouse, but again those weren’t the 118 responding)

also in the 3rd point it’s supposed to say “involving wildfires” not “involving firefighters” but my brain is mush so ignore that pls <3

(also the wildfire one is not a diss at lonestar i just don’t understand how la catches fire like every year and we haven’t seen any wildfires show up in the main series)

yknow something you often see w couples/ships on tv is that they have a couple-y dynamic offscreen too… like there’s ryliver, kenny and jennifer, peter and angela, aisha and tracie… all of whom are not in relationships with each other (most in happy relationships with other people) but if they were together irl i wouldn’t bat an eye bc they just fit together yknow?

other examples of this in other fandoms include dan levy and noah reid, mariska hargitay and christopher meloni, john krasinski and jenna fisher, andrew rannells and christian borle…. like most of these people are in fulfilling and happy relationships with other people but if they were actually together with their co-star it would kind of just make sense yknow?

but one rpf ship that i’ve never looked at and been like “i could see it” (and i may get called crazy for this) is cockles. i cannot look at jensen and misha and go “oh yeah, they could feasibly be a couple.” idk what it is, i know they’re popular with the rpf community but like i just cannot see what other people see. idk if it’s jensen and daneel’s like undying devotion to each other that seeps through in every video/interview they are in together or what, but i fear jensen ackles is one of the straightest straight celebrities i’ve ever seen and i cannot see him as anything other than

and i don’t even engage in rpf/shipping real life people but i have functioning eyes and a shippers brain, i can see things/chemistry between actors (who actually have onscreen/offscreen chemistry 👀🙄) and go “i see the appeal of that as a ship” but cockles is just one that i cannot seem to wrap my head around 💀💀

(this is not meant as a dig at anyone who DOES actively engage in rpf/does see a chemistry between the two of them, i just saw a photo of them from years ago and was like i’m not seeing it yk? 🤷)
