I think the thing I find the most interesting about MonoTV is the fact that, for some reason, it seems to possess an almost...care? Trust? In Teruko that it does not show with any other character. Even though it literally just got its screen broken, it still trusts Teruko enough to stay with it after insisting she go back to her room, trusts Teruko enough to almost...confide in her, its own strange way of confiding in her anyway. When Teruko asks if the deaths of the killing game are her fault, MonoTV answers her genuinely and tries to give her advice when it really doesn't have to.

(x) MonoTV: I cannot answer that question for you. MonoTV: All the decisions I make were already decided by whatever entity created me, because I am a robot. MonoTV: You’re human, unlike me. MonoTV: You have to decide the answer for yourself.

And like...my question is, especially if that second line is true: If you are going to create a murder robot with the sole purpose of acting as the de-facto antagonist and ensuring that every single participant here perishes to a fate of becoming another corpse to add to the numbers, why would you give it the ability to care about someone...at all? (Let alone the ability to feel pain and guilt, but that's a whole other discussion) And if you are going to give it the ability to care about people, why seemingly only Teruko and nobody else? What's so special about Teruko? The only real answer to that question I can think of is that someone in their erased Hope's Peak memories had some form of connection with Teruko that was so strong that when conceptualizing MonoTV, they couldn't leave that out. But the only person that we know had a connection to Teruko pre-killing game during that point in the timeline is Mai Akasaki, and like...let's be honest here, there's like a 96% chance she is dead, and I'm pretty sure necromancy does not exist in this series. Other than her, there's no one else we know of that could've had a strong connection to Teruko before the death game... Right?

also…. making things lilyrosekiller now (blame saints) but med students lily and evan on their placement year, who’re kinda friends?? maybe?? they’re both sorta outcasts in the med student body bc lily just works SO much and evan is such a fucking freak, so they hang out together sometimes bc no one else wants to

then there’s barty… who’s mum is ill and staying in the hospital and he’s coming to visit and he’s like absurdly hot in a really ‘i shouldn’t find him attractive’ way and lily and evan are just drooooling

like he’s punching walls bc his mum’s not getting better and they’re thinking about licking the blood off his knuckles. he’s fighting w a doctor about the treatment plan, all angry and assertive like, and they’re about ready to start stripping for him. he’s speaking gently to his mum and reading trashy magazines about celebrity sex scandals aloud to her and they’re seconds away from throwing themselves down at his feet in worship

and then lily and evan notice the other’s obsession and it becomes a sort of competition, who can get barty to notice them, and they’re making endless tea and embarrassing attempts at small talk and they’re arguing about who he likes more in one of the hospital broom cupboards

and then ‘i bet i could kiss him far better than you ever could’ and ‘prove it then’ and they’re just full on making out now and…..

barty’s back at the hospital again the next day and evan and lily are just. like every time he looks at them they sneak off to snog and he speaks to lily for a few minutes and five minutes later, she and evan are fucking in the staff toilet like ‘and then he said - oh right there, perfect - he said yeah whatever thanks, oh, oh!-’

and one time barty walks in on them and they’re just immediately ten times more turned on and barty can tell, like he’s raising an eyebrow and taking his shirt off like okay cool, this could be fun

and now he’s coming to the hospital even more, and not just to visit his mum, and they just AAAAAAAA they’re just driving me insane actually and at this point my thoughts just devolve into garbled screams so i’m gonna stop talking now…

i kinda feel like in the 'from eden' au, the reveal that this rabbit person they've been sheltering would be very dramatic and 100% on dream's terms.

like, when push finally comes to shove and sam (and q) have to admit that dream escaped and it spreads and phil and ranboo are talking about being worried about what dream might do, talking about maybe helping sam out in looking for him. dream hears all this and yeah, there's some panic and trying to work out a way that he can still pretend to be this other person and be safe.

but he says 'fuck it' and cuts his hair short and binds his chest with the bandages they used to treat his wounds and goes to them like 'you can turn me in'

Even after a long day of hard work, Eden can't seem to fall asleep without giving her mind something to focus on. Words on book pages float and merge into a black mass, music all sounds discordant, attempts at conversation thus far have lacked any sense or understanding.

How the fuck is she supposed to focus on something when her mind is complete mush from the day?

Eden collapses onto a bench with a frustrated huff. She leans back and closes her eyes, enjoying the darkness behind her lids and gentle chatter of the world around her. It only lasts for a moment before her over-worked mind starts weakly trying to give her things to worry about. It begins with what the other pirates might think of her. Then it's all about her FATHER.

She shakes the thoughts away. No fucking use in focusing on that.

The pirate digs a block of wood and small knife out of her pockets, hunching over for some stability in her carving. Shavings are dropped into the ground below her with little regard, the attitude extending to her cuts. Chunks are taken off without any thought as to what the finished product would be. Fuck, she might just slice at the wood until there's nothing left. It's something to focus on, that's all she cares about.

Brianne's presence is noticed, but ignored until she speaks. Eden couldn't tell who it was and didn't care to check.

"Who taught you to do that?"

Her head snaps up at the familiar voice, feeling a hint of something positive before it gets consumed by the rest. Outwardly, she frowns before returning to her carving.

"My uncle. He was good at all this stuff." She grunts out the words quickly, strikes of knife into wood becoming more harsh.

Was. She doesn't even consider Jacob's status until it comes out of her mouth. Fucking hell, is he even still alive? He could be dead for all she knows. Eden draws her bottom lip between her teeth and starts gnawing.

A pretty damn good option, she had to admit, as he slammed her back against the wall, her legs wrapped around his waist. Her fingers gripped the short hair at the back of his head as they kissed. He had one hand firmly holding her ass as the other trailed up, warm, calloused fingers brushed the skin between the waistband of her jeans and the bottom of her tank top. 

The sound of a motorcycle vibrated up from the street, but neither gave it a second thought, too wrapped up in themselves. It wasn’t until her shirt was on the ground and Ethan was shouting about an intruder that they paused. 

“Seriously?” Eden called back.

“We’ll kill them, then get back to it,” Aiden promised. 

“You better.” She muttered, grabbing her tank top and pulling it over her head as the two of them ran for the vault.

I bloody loved Sonnie's Edge when it came out, I'd go back normally once a year or so and rewatch it but it started to lose it's excitement after a few years.

So finding out that it's actually the first short in a series called 'A Second Chance at Eden' and being able to experience it afresh all over again? Absolutely fantastic!

No mattter what Love Death and Robots does it'll never outdo Sonnie's Edge tbh...
