the last but not least of the june patreon prompts, SpaceDancer asked for a transmasc lawyer humanoid earwig and this is pretty much what it says on the tin.

this is Eloh and he is an absolute menace. he was born in a less than savory part of the veil that's really big on deals and contracts, but instead of using his powers to settle down at a nice crossroads or wander around glamored to the gills looking for marks, he decided that loophole hunting was way more fun. there's just something about taking apart a deal with the devil that gives him a rush hustling mortals can't provide. also he gets paid. Like, Paid paid. clients usually pay with one small act or item that goes towards solving one of his other cases (much easier to source dealbreakers that way) but his opponents pay up big when they lose (mostly because none of them think they'll lose as the majority of them are gambling addicts used to rigging the game).

he's always on the lookout for a challenge and these deal makers love to brag, so if you entered some kind of supernatural deal and his card spontaneously shows up in your mailbox before it even goes into effect then you fucked up.

Today was all spent brainrotting over my earwig oc, Vissour

I was sad that Mandrake got a cool demon form for the climax and Bella doesn't :(( So I made a self-indulgent design for her - it's not as humanoid as Mandrake's, but you know. it is what it is

I wanted to use her hair as a base, so I initially thought of something similar to the demon god that attacks Ashitaka's village at the beginning of Princess Mononoke.

Then I added a pointy snout and it suddenly hit me like a bus - feral boars, my beloveds! They're gigantic and stocky and strong and mean and stubborn and protective! I thought that Bella had somewhat of a bear vibe, but feral pigs are just as adorably in-character for her! And did you know that there are wooly pigs????

MY BELOVED????

So anyway I based myself on the figure of a boar with the flexibility of a bear. The regular pig hooves on the hind legs are a parallel to Bella's high heels, the clawed paws have an additional finger and an opposable thumb that allows her to grab and smack more easily.

Anyway, that was a fun interlude to work on. I've been going through some serious health-related shit lately so it only felt right to indulge in some light-hearted doodles.

earwig girls! i did the sketches for these (besides the rightmost) when i was on vacation in cape cod during summer of 2021 and i frequently saw earwigs crawling around. they are underrated bugs

I'm trying out a new reference sheet style for my many characters, with side/back views, height charts, and various details.
