The introduction of Earthmate dancers for Project Dragon has got me thinking again about the rf5 siblings and their abilities when it comes to being Earthmates.

I also realize that I haven't talked much about how their farms are going lately. So let's go into detail about our last pair of farming Earthmates before they all go extinct.

So we've got the main farm behind the Silo that both Alice and Ares tend to.

On the main farm Ares mostly helps by clearing and tilling the ground before the seeds go in.

Quiet often, Reinhard stops by and helps him out with the work. (He also helps out a lot at with one certain farm dragon but we'll address that later)

This happens much to Alice's dismay because she feels that she absolutely needs to pay him for his assistance but has to fight him to take the money when he tries to refuse.

His argument is that he just felt like helping his friend on a whim and doesn't want money to be involved but Alice doesn't budge. He worked and needs to be compensated for it.

When the land preparation is done Alice takes over the planting process. She harvests seeds to max level, has all the best fertilizers and keeps careful eye on them every day to produce the best crops!

She does all of the plant work either by herself or with Ares' help because their Earthmate touch is what makes the plants grow fast and in good quality.

They've tried having others help them with the planting part but results of an Earthmate's touch practically negate the second anyone else tends to a plant. It's like all the magic just vanishes.

On a different note, Cecil likes to come and help observe/take notes cuz he's really into earth and ocean sciences. So any learning opportunity is a good opportunity. Plus he has a good eye for detail and catches things that Alice should be weary of with her plants. She also gives him a salary for regularly assisting in plant inspection.

Last thing about the main farm. While it does make use of the shipping bins to wholesale the bulk of the produce to Misa's shop as well as other shops in nearby towns, Alice also has a farmer's market set up next to the Silo. Here is where she has the on-rotation Rangers take shifts selling the highest quality produce at her assigned rates.

Basically Alice is running a rather expansive farming business alongside her work as a Ranger.

I have a lot of concept art I wanna make for the dragon farms (especially the dark orchard) so I'm going to do another post later for Ares and the farm dragon friends that he's made.

"Sure am! This town is gorgeous, and the view outside the inn is even better." In spite of the traveling bag slung over her shoulder and the sword on her back, she's actually going to move to help him. "You need a hand with that? Looks like you kind of have your hands full." She smiled up at him.

"This inn is a lot bigger than the one back home in Alvarna. Ours is nice, though. I have to say though, this is pretty awesome. I feel like I'm stepping into somewhere fancy."

She actually hadn't had too much trouble with the monsters on the way, but then when you and your twin brother have downed a dragon, it takes a lot to present a challenge.

Finishing the pose after what was, likely, a rather cringey one-liner pun on a greeting- Sakuya returns to an upright position with attention on the farmgirl. There is only a small sweat drop but she's staying positive!

"Yeah?! Still workshopping details, but~ If you ask me, what good's a first impression if ain't something memorable! And like, in the good way. Obviously." The merchant plants her hands akimbo on her foreign attire, a matching smile blazing with a fire its own.

"Sakuya Arakane is the name!~ nice to meetcha! My family moved into the town nearby to open our inn. So I'm going around to meet the custo--I mean, locals!"

I think about Arthur and his role in RF4's main narrative a lot.

Like he doesn't just show up, say "actually you can have my job; also you can date me" and then leave. He has a fairly strong presence across all three acts of the story and is extremely active in helping the plot move forward, whether it's leading the charge in helping the protagonist get back from the Forest of Beginnings or gathering the resources Selphia needs to defend itself against the Sechs Empire.

Granted, RF4's plot isn't anything to write home about between how predictable it is, the occasional plot hole, and the antagonists being almost impossible to take seriously (Ethelberd is basically a boomer having a massive temper tantrum), but just the fact that Arthur is so instrumental in making sure shit gets done and that the protagonist can succeed is why I like him so much and why I ship him and Frey so hard.

Scarlett is a hard working and strict deer with light magical ability due to some distant unicorn heritage (she can lift light or slightly heavy objects and can put out a blinding burst of energy), she never brandishes her antlers towards anyone aside from the occasional monster or bandit and fiercely protects her town no matter what. Of course now not only does she has to be all buddy buddy with the newest trouble makers residents, two earthponies who curiously lack cutiemarks, but she has to work with them too, that definitely wont give her a headache

Ludmila is a changeling in disguise as a unicorn and had been on the lamb for some time now, not many creatures are partial to changelings so she prefers to stay hidden finding “companionship” (or as close as she can get) with other creatures who are outcast from society (aka bandits). one day after their base was raided, and her unicorn illusion no longer on because of her hunger, she met a cutiemarkless earth pony named alice who didn’t have a damn clue as to what a changeling was but was more than happy to accommodate her, going as far as to letting her feed on some of the monsters love in the base… well thats new

Anyways now she lives in rigbarth and was even able to metamorphisize now that shes got a steady flow of love to feed on (both from the shared love of the citizens and the occasional feedings she gets from alice)

to return to another thing nobody understands or remembers. i actually think what might be fun is if in the rf4 au, the protagonist counterpart becomes arthur. which is actually a way better explanation for why the protag would get mistaken for royalty initially, bc they look like. basically identical and akari/rei even sound kind of close together and they could believably be half-remembered versions of each other.

and also the part of the game where arthur makes the protag fake royalty is actually the both of them playing hot potato with the prince/princess title bc NEITHER of them want to be Responsible. irida/adaman/whoever it is having the convo is like ohh this dastardly cheat... deceived us into thinking they were royalty... so we gave them your title and responsibilities... and the counterpart is like ! actually. i lied. I'M fake royalty. they're the real one.

Following its initial announcement as Project Magia in May 2023, Marvelous has released new information and footage for Rune Factory: Project Dragon. Platforms and a release date remain unannounced.

Following a brief history on the evolution of the Rune Factory series and how it has grown across nine titles released over 18 years, Rune Factory series director Shiro Maekawa joined the stream to reveal a new video for Rune Factory: Project Dragon sharing a look at the title’s protagonists. Players can choose to play as either Subaru or Kaguya, two new Earthmates with a twist; they will use the power of dance, rather than farming, to communicate and interact with the world around them. This new approach to interacting with the world comes with non-combat tools, including parasols and drums; series staple weapons like swords; and brand-new weapon types to experiment with, including bows and talismans.
