Jade I’ve been WAITING and HOPING for you to ask about spider verse and/or Miguel requests. He is the epitome of grumpy love interest falls for sunshine reader, would you maybe write something where he’s like in the midst of being scary and intimidating and then when reader walks in he is trying to maintain that image in front of whoever else is there but she just like totally ignores it and basically exposes how soft he is?
Obviously feel free to take or leave whatever parts of that you like I just love grumpy x sunshine
SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE BELOW
thank you for your request! for you my love, grumpy (lovesick) miguel x sunshine spidergirl!reader, 1.5k
Miguel spends a lot of time arguing with Peter B. Parker, or as you've so fondly nicknamed him, Sweatpants-Man. Well, Miguel spends a lot of time yelling at him. It stopped for a while; Peter B. Parker took some time away from the Spider Society, but eventually he returned with a brand new spider. A baby girl.
You linger at the door, startled to find him in company, but pleased when he isn't yelling as loudly as he could be. He looks desperately as though he wants to shout, and is holding back through sheer force of will, his eyes widened and his hair falling in unruly waves over his forehead, strands of it curled into his eyes.
Miguel is a worrier. It isn't his fault. He's a great man with responsibilities beyond his control, and he may not always react how he should, but he tries his best. You don't agree with everything he does, but you like him. You adore him. For all of his goodness, his bravery, and the smile he gives you when you're alone.
He's clearly troubled by something.
"I don't really see the harm, I won't tell him a thing," Peter B. Parker says.
"Why do you refuse to listen to me? No. End of discussion."
"I think we should reopen the discussion," Peter B. Parker says.
He and Miguel are friends, you think. They would have been best buddies by now if Peter could abide by Miguel's rules. Then again, you ignore the rules often and indiscriminately, and Miguel likes you.
He's scraping his hair out of his eyes now, a fierce glare fixed on Peter's face, and you have the urge to go in there and try to persuade him to give Peter whatever it is he's asking for. You're almost certain you could do it.
Not through your sheer mastery of the persuasive arts, though you have mastered them, but because Miguel O'Hara has a soft spot for you. He tries to hide it and you refuse to let him. You haven't tried to kiss him or anything (you secretly aren't that brave) but you run circles around him for fun, only letting him boss you around every now and then to keep things loose. You could be much meaner about the whole thing: what is so humiliating as falling for your lackadaisical subordinate? But you don't hold it against him, because he likely isn't finished falling yet, and because you really do like him.
You pull your mask off of your face and then your gloves, shoving them into a concealed pocket on your thigh.
"Miguel," you murmur, knowing he'll hear you no matter the volume, "what's wrong?"
Miguel doesn't glance your way.
Peter B. Parker's shoulders sag in relief at your appearance. "Thank god you're here," he says.
You hadn't realised Peter knew who you were. "I'm here," you repeat mildly.
"Tell Miguel that the risk involved with visiting Earth-1610 is super, duper small."
"Well, it is negligible," you murmur, though Peter's quest isn't your prerogative.
Miguel groans loud and unapologetically.
You stand near Miguel and look up at him. He's ridiculously tall. You’d have to crane your neck if you stood at his feet. You maintain some distance and look him over from a gentler incline, cataloguing the dark circles under his eyes for the hundredth time. They don't look too bad today, but you wish he'd get more rest.
He has a very fierce face, but you know how it softens when he laughs. It's hard to find his glaring intimidating when you've witnessed the white flash of sharp teeth as he smiles, the way his eyes light up and his eyebrows relax from their stern set when you bring him something to eat on late nights. It's almost always smothered as soon as it happens, but it does happen.
"The risk involved is not super small," he says, still not looking at you, "the risk involved is actually incredibly big, and it isn't worth it."
Peter puts his arms out just as Mayday drops from the rafters above. You huff a laugh at his coordination and Mayday starts to laugh, her knitted beanie drooping into her eyes.
"Hi, baby," you say softly, reaching out to hold her hand. She squeezes your fingers.
"It's worth the risk. Absolutely, it's worth the risk, and I would argue that me visiting would actually strengthen the state of the multiverse–"
"In what scenario–"
"–and, like, make your job easier." Peter stops Mayday from climbing up your shoulder.
"If there's one thing you've never done, Peter, it's make my job easier. I can't believe you're asking me again," Miguel says, taking a big breath, like he's going to pop.
You step away from Peter to catch Miguel's attention. When his eyes lock onto yours, you smile as fondly as you're able, the kind of smile you know he likes. Your eyes widen just a touch and your eyebrows rise, the corners of your mouth not quite dimpling. It's a smile that says all the same stuff you love to say aloud. Hi, handsome. What's got you so stressed today?
"Don't be like that, Miguel," Peter says.
You tilt your head to one side. "You don't look very well," you say.
"I'm fine." There's a thread of gentleness there, almost indistinguishable from his serious tone. "Or I would be, if Peter would listen to me for once."
"I'm listening, man, I just think you should see sense."
Miguel's face flickers like he wants to correct him, but he keeps getting caught on you. Nothing specific, just that his gaze lands on your face or your shoulder or your arm before he looks at Peter, and all the steam rushes out of him. He’s trying not to smile at you.
"I see sense," Miguel insists. It's like he wants to be angrier than he has, gritting his teeth weakly. "It's not feasible right now."
You smile at that. Right now. You're not sure he's ever said something that could lead to a compromise. You are sure that he hadn't meant to. Peter is understandably thrilled, hiding his own smile as he puts Mayday back into her carrier.
"Alright. Well, I've gotta take her home. But I'll see you both again soon," Peter threatens, wiggling his eyebrows. "Thank you," he adds, nodding at you.
You laugh as he leaves. Miguel is nowhere near as pleased.
"You did that on purpose," Miguel says.
"I did what on purpose?"
"Coming in here."
"Yeah, of course. I come to see you all the time on purpose. Did you think I was drifting in here on the breeze? That would be difficult, considering." You gesture to the entrance of his office, which is far from easily accessible.
Miguel looks at you, unimpressed, with his hands on his hips. You wonder what it would take to make him put his hands on yours.
"Don't even think about it," he says.
"About what, handsome?"
"You think I don't know what that look means?" He sounds fond rather than angry. It's a win.
"I bet you know, but I'm in the dark, so if you'd… illuminate it for me, that would be greatly appreciated."
He checks that no one's about to enter his office. You feel your heart jerk in your chest, and if his super senses are anything like the other Spider People, he can hear it.
"You really can't come in here when I'm trying to set people straight," he says.
"Why?" you ask. You could pout at him, but you think that might be too much.
"You know why." Somewhere between words he drifts closer, soundless, his face inching down toward yours with a surprising swiftness. "You know why," he repeats.
You lift your chin as much as you dare, which isn't much, but enough that your giggly confirmation fans over his lips, "Yes, I do."
He nudges you away, and it isn't without affection. His warm, big hand lingers on your shoulder, even as he says, "Go, go do something."
"Miguel, I came to see you."
"I know, and I have a meeting with Jess in a minute, so you can't be here. It'll undermine my authority."
"What will?" you ask, smiling, because you already know. His fondness for you.
"Go away. Come and see me later," he says.
You sigh and spin away from him. "I will, but not because you told me to!" you call, leaving the office with an awful sense of victory.
Miguel scrubs his face with his hands as you go. He's really not sure what he's going to do with you. His plan to hold you at arm’s length isn’t working anymore, and honestly? He doesn’t think he could stand it a minute longer. Thank whoever’s watching over him that you actually do as he asks for once and leave.
Miguel was one sweet smile away from kissing you up against the wall.

loved by the moon (riddle, leona, and azul x f!reader)
requested by @lydiacallas: Can i ask for a Moon Goddess like!Fem!Reader? Like they have magic linked to the moon, they have like- this ethereal, pure and calm vibe of the moon itself and their voice is calm too. Maybe their hair is a bit glow in the dark? With Malleus, Azul, Lilia, Riddle and Leona, please and thank you very much! 🥺✨ warning: minor spoilers to book 6 + somewhat long imagine note: reader uses she / they pronouns + is in the same grade as the boys !! this is very overdue im sorry 😣 and i based some characteristic and abilities to moonlight cookie and princess luna guilty as charged 😔 + malleus and lilia part will be in another post! recent fics: happy birthday (malleus x reader) & when your hopeless streamer gets a girlfriend (ace x reader) & its you, it always had been you
·˚ ༘ riddle rosehearts (2nd year ramshackle dorm leader)
"the decision of all professors and staffs of night raven college falls in favor for miss (name) (last name) to enroll here - exempting them from the all-boys rule. she will be in charge of the ramshackle dorm during her stay here."
riddle does not understand how on earth were you able to stay in the school and always hold yourself with such grace, he couldn't explain why your presence seems to be similar to vil like you were oozing of calm vibes
you were the total opposites - he is more accustomed to fire while you specialize in water magic*. he lose his rationality quickly while he had never see you even falter during the time you two were classmates + he always abides by the rules while you do what ever you want
"you are not allowed to sleep in class!" "it's not sleeping, i am just resting my eyes..." "you must not pick flowers from the garden on wednesdays." "riddle, i am not under the queen of hearts rules."
and riddle actually holds a one sided grudge against you for that + makes it his mission always to remind you of the rules, going on about mini rants to which you nodded to while reading your books
typically, riddle would've mention something about the rule of the queen of hearts but he was strangely quiet. you see him looking down at his notebook, lost in his world. and that surprised you because never you would've thought you would know this side of him. "no rule trivia for today?" "...huh?" "there is something on your mind, no? why don't we talk about that instead our usual trivias."
as time passed by, you and riddle gradually close friends to the point that heartslabyul treats you like their saving grace whenever riddle goes on a rampage, even more when you became second years
when the first overblot happened, it was the first time he saw your face, usually so calm, crumbled like dust when the blot manifested into a large phantom
"hahaha! the law in this world is me! not even you, (name), can stop me!" "i'm not letting you go so easily, riddle. rules are meant to protect your people, but you don't realize you are using them to suffocate them. you even hurt my dorm mates, enough of this!"
riddle was sure you wouldn't speak to him again because you weren't there the moment he woke up. he tried asking trey and cater if you were avoiding him, but they could not answer him. the next few days, he didn't even get to talk to you.
then he found himself admiring nrc at night time, breaking his own rules, maybe it's okay to let is slide for now. as he needs some time to think
absentmindedly wandering around the school grounds, letting the cool breeze feel his skin, riddle had his hand brushing through the thick bushes until they got pricked by a stray thorn "ah-" he hissed, holding up his pricked finger. it was just a tiny injury that's nothing to worry about. the injury was nothing compared to what he saw next "riddle? what are you doing this here at this hour?"
riddle spotted you sitting under the tree where silver usually takes his naps, surrounded by bunnies as they piled around your lap.
after days of not seeing each other, riddle thought he was going crazy because the last time he saw you, he knew pretty sure that your eyes and hair do not have that silver glow - it was like you were the moon itself
"is it my fault that your eyes and hair changed?" "oh, this is awkward... " you look at the bunnies trying to hide behind you, being scared of riddle's sudden appearance, contemplating about something before sighing in defeat. "i think i owe you an explanation. but first, can you keep a secret?" this confused riddle very much. what do you mean explanation? did something happen while he was out? before he could even think of it, you were already in front of him - your point and middle finger placed on his forehead. 'the moon has come out to play, now bid your worries away.' a comfortable feeling of cold wrapped around riddle's body, feeling the fatigue from his overblotting disappear, the weight on his shoulder being gone and his pricked finger healed. while riddle stared at you in shock, you finally reveal your true appearance and float around him like a curious child. "would you believe me if i told you i am the descendant of the moon goddess?"
... oh. OH !!
prepare for him because this little goldfish right here is most likely a fan of reading books about your kind + cue the sparkling eyes
and oh my god are those butterflies he can feel in his stomach? or maybe he is just hungry but he only feel that way around you though. oh well !!
** okay so i think reader will be compatible with water magic because the moon has this gravitaional pull right which cause the high tides and low tides... and riddle is fire!
·˚ ༘ leona kingscholar (3rd year transfer student)
"kingscholar, think of this as your punishment for the spelldrive incident. i would gladly take miss (name) for a tour but alas, there are countless of papers that needs my attention."
leona knew that there is something like a cloak of mysteriousness around you the moment you appeared in the college mid-year as a transfer student from rsa
just you don't interfere with his plans and he will also stay out of yours but it turns out he was assigned by the crow to take you around
"... wow, do i look like a punishment worthy chore?" you sigh, shaking your head in disappointment before turning to leona and he could swear he could see your eyes glowing for a moment when you stare at him. "i take it that the dorm leader of savannaclaw will be my tour guide?" "just don't lag behind." giving you a shrug before he started walking ahead of you. despite his short descriptions and tour around the school, leona is thankful that you didn't seem to be a nosy type of person, just a little on the calm and reserve type than most people he knew.
doesn't understand how people seems to look starstruck whenever you walk by them i mean you are attractive yes but not being able to move? that's different
it also turns out you share most of your classes! maybe crowley was really punishing him for the incident as he was stuck with you, being your babysitter.
but you almost look like his babysitter + quickly became one of the most tolerable people in the school and he doesn't mind having you around
"leona? let me bother you for a moment, can you help me with this problem?" "oh that?" the lion lifted his head and stared at the paper you were holding before waving his hand in dismissal. "remember the activity we did as partners? that's the one." "..." you squinted your eyes and leona could see them literally glow in purple light causing him to blink several times if he was seeing it right but it disappeared quickly. "oh i get it now, thanks." "do your eyes really glow like that?" "huh? i don't know what you are talking about."
you were not the nagging type - letting him hide and snooze off behind you during class and surprisingly, you were fun to spar with during practical exams + too smart for your own good
he had never seen any kind of fighting similar to yours like your fighting style is only yours to begin with - not only you excel in defending, you never seem to get tired despite being a speedy defender.
you and the savanaclaw dorm leader spent the whole afternoon sparring with each other and by the time you notice it, the sun was already setting. "aren't you tired yet, leona?" "you better tell me how you manage to keep up with me all this time." you did say to keep up with you the first time we met." you twirl your spear around you before stabbing it on the ground, leaning on it and grinned at leona. "i'm just keeping my promise."
now leona was pretty sure you are not a normal transfer student + especially after fighting with you in the island of woe and it was pretty interesting how you unexpectedly exposed yourself in front him and jamil.
the moment you, who was assigned to be in the front of the group due to you having the most capable defensive powers, entered the room on the current sector, leona and jamil look at your back in surprise. "(name)-senpai?" "what's up, jamil?" "... is that a normal thing for you?" the room was oozing with the presence of phantoms everywhere and there was no source of light - aside from your hair locks that are now shining like a billowing night sky of twinkling stardust, borne in a void of black and fading in an indigo moonset "oh that's normal, we can just use it as source of light. save your magic for now." "no wonder your magic feels different from everyone else - you are a moon goddess, right?"
leona is not blind, he just need a solid evidence to confirm his gut feeling. unique magic spells + signature spear + glowing eyes and your hair locks literally looking like that?
while fighting along side each other, leona could literally leave his back open because heknew and trust that you always have his back and vice versa
"leona-senpai, watch out-" before jamil could jump in between the incoming attack and leona, you pulled the second year by his hood deflected the attack with your spear so effortlessly. "it's fine, moon fairy here got our backs." you hear leona said proudly before landing a critical hit on the phantom. "aren't you glad you're stuck with us?"
everyone in school knows how two of you would make an unbeatable duo when it comes to strategies and games
and not going to lie, leona thinks so too! you are strong, smart and everything above + treats you life his closest friend and respects you a lot but you do things sometimes that are not really necessary
"are you done yet?" he couldn't help but ask, his tail thumping on the floor with annoyance while you tried braiding some parts of his hair.
you peek over his should and smiled, trying to show him the small braid that you did on the side. "yeah, it's fun braiding your hair!" after your identity being revealed, you let yourself relax more around him - when you express happiness, your hair starts glowing as it did before and small crescent like moon thingy start appearing around you
... leona find that cute + now he understand why people become starstruck when it comes to you
**you know how moonlight cookie's hair color looks like? yeah that's the one!
·˚ ༘ azul ashengrotto (2nd year ramshackle vice dorm leader)
"did you hear about the rumors? recently, students are saying that when you go to the botanical garden at night and stand under the moonlight - all your questions will be answered!"
the fact that rumors like that exists made azul irritated because it means he got competition. and having competition in the thing he do best is not fun.
so he and the twins went to investigate - how and where the rumors first started and who are most likely to be involved in the case
surprisingly enough, it all leads to a certain ramshackle vice dorm leader aka you + azul already knew you due to being the same year and his 'rival'
he considers you as his rival because you two always seem to fight for the top 2 and 3 spot every exam but for you... i think he would be hurt if you say that you like to aim for the top spot because it's fun 🤩
it was during lunch time and you were planning to eat with yuu, grim and the others when all of a sudden, someone blocked your way out by leaning on the door. "(last name) can i ask a bit of your time? i would like to ask you regarding an important matter." the ever so charismatic azul asked, his usual charming smile on as if he wants to do business with you. "oh, hi azul. what is it about?" "how delightful! do you happen to know the rumor about your unanswered questions will be answered as you stand under the moonlight?" "there is a rumor like that? under the moonlight? why the specifics?" one thing that azul observed about you is that your emotion reflects on your eyes. call it his gut feel but just one look and he already knew you were telling the truth "a pity... it seems like i am back to square one." "... maybe i can go help you out? i am not that busy these upcoming days."
and so azul's little group grew in numbers consisting of him, you, yuu, grim and the twins. oddly enough, it was actually fun to hang out with you
azul never got to interact with you that much before and only knew information about your through papers and from what he heard from people but being with you right now exceeds his expectations
"if headmaster crowley is similar to crow... do you think he likes to hoard shiny things?" you suddenly whispered it to azul one day in class, your mind clearly wandering and not paying attention to what professor trein is writing on the board. "what is with the random thought?" what is we leave a trail of shiny things and create a trap, that would be really funny."
you were an oddball. sometimes you will joke around with him and trying to make him laugh during class. there are also times where he couldn't explain the calming feeling he had whenever you are around + he could never even feel any other intentions from your actions as if you genuinely want to become his friend
it took him a while to notice how you always seem to stand out and become the embodiment of grace and elegance - a confident yet modest person who knows what you want
you always help him out in solving the rumor mystery but there is something that made you look suspicious → you always go back to your dorm before sunset
it's not that he wants to take up all your time but the way you stand firm of not being able to join them during night time and saying how dangerous it is made him suspect you of something
so he went alone wearing his ceremonial robes (the twins are taking over his duties for a while i know very unbelievable but imagine) to investigate the botanical garden and there he saw you run inside - a trail of silver light following you behind
and when azul went inside to stand in the spot, trying to think of what to wish until he hears a familiar voice ringing in the building
"say your wish out loud and the moon will light its way to you." "well, now this is marvelous. can i see one guiding my wish for me?" azul looked up, trying to call out for you, even looking around to see signs of you. there was a moment of silence before he heard you sigh and in an instance, you appeared before him, avoiding his look. "i thought i told you to let it go?"
after finding out you were his competitor - he didn't really feel annoyed at all! rather he was intrigued on how you were able to do it ...? you help the students find the answers on their own in their dreams?!
seeing your hair glow in silver light in the dark reminds him of himself as some octopus also glow in the dark just like him!
"azul, do you know that i really admire you?" "me? what is there to admire about me? i do nknow i have a remarkable potential but compared to y-" "no, seriously. you don't need to compare yourself to me. having to do all these business related work AND studying at the same time? you should appreciate yourself more."
... do you want to make him cry on the spot? hearing such words makes him happy but hearing it from you aka one of the people he really admire and yes he admits he admire you as a rival - his emotions are going haywire.
even if he is smart, it will take time for azul to realize that his admiration is just growing stronger and stronger each day and bloom into something else

JJK Chapter 260 Spoilers!
➠ Sukuna’s vision and the Hallucinations that arise from the deterioration of body in Buddhism:
This is a personal opinion on why Sukuna saw Gojo in that particular moment of Chapter 260. It is based on the process of Death in Buddhism and the visions that one entering the process of dying experiences. Please note that the death process varies depending on the school of Buddhism and here I am referencing the Mahayana tradition and the works of a Tibetan monk - Thubten Yeshe.
According to the work of Thubten Yeshe, the most important chakra (energy wheel) that runs through a body is the one located at the level of our heart as the heart chakra is considered the home of our very subtle mind (the mind is divided into the gross mind, the subtle mind, and the very subtle mind: the gross mind depends on the body and the five elements - earth, water, fire, air, and space. As soon as body functions stop, the gross mind stops. The subtle mind underpins the five senses - see, smell, hear, taste and feel the world of the spirit. The very subtle mind is the source of the clear light).
The activity of all types of mind, both gross and subtle, depends upon their supporting winds (of the energy) and where these are travelling. As long as they flow through any of the channels other than the central channel, these winds activate the gross minds that give rise to superstition and confusion. But when these winds enter, abide and dissolve into the central channel, as happens naturally at the time of death, the gross minds subside and the very subtle mind of clear light arises instead. This entire process happens automatically during death (as a process of deterioration) but very few are able to recognise it.
Here it is also important to note that the root of the Samsaric (endless cycle of life, death and rebirth) suffering is ego-grasping: the wrong view that holds onto a mistaken belief in a self-existent ‘I’ or ego-identity. Holding onto one’s ‘ego-identity’ at the time of the passing brings death in an uncontrolled manner, which forces the dying to enter an uncontrolled intermediate state.
Now to the actual process of dying: there are three stages - death, the intermediate state and rebirth. For us the process of death is important, so I will be discussing only this stage.
Death is the separation of the mind from the body. The body does not lose its ability to maintain consciousness all at once, but does so gradually with each element of the body losing its supportive ability in turn. First, the earth element sinks, or dissolves, into the water element and then the water element sinks into the fire and fire into the air, and the air element into consciousness itself. For example, when it is said that the earth element sinks into the water element, this means that as the solid portions of the body are losing their ability to function and are becoming less intimately interconnected with the dying person’s mind, the liquid element appears stronger and more evident. As these various physical elements become stronger and weaker in turn, the dying person experiences certain external and internal signs associated with the dissolution process.
When people, who have not trained themselves to go through the process of death during life, die they are out of control. They become overwhelmed as their bodily elements go out of balance and cease functioning harmoniously. It is therefore very difficult, if not impossible, for them to remain calmly aware of what is happening while experiencing visions. To put it simply, while desperately holding onto a supposedly solid sense of ‘I’ for security, they panic as the basis for one’s ego-identity – the body itself – begins to disintegrate.
As the earth element of their body deteriorates and the water element grows stronger, their mind is filled with the hallucination of a shimmering silver-blue mirage. They feel trapped and suffocated. Then the water element sinks into the fire element and a vision of swirling smoke appears. As this is happening they may feel that they are drowning or being carried away by swirling currents of water. Next, the fire element dissolves and their body gradually grows colder; they perceive a vision like that of sparks dancing over an open fire at night. Finally, the air element dissolves and their breathing becomes very shallow, and they may feel that they are being blown about like a leaf in the wind. Along with this experience comes the vision of a dying flame in a darkened room. As is the case when a candle is about to go out, the flame suddenly grows brighter as if exploding in a final burst of energy. Their breathing, which has been getting more and more difficult, now comes to a complete halt. To the outside world, they now seem to be dead. The visions one experiences in the process of death also vary from school to school (some see people, some see ‘demons’ or their fears, etc.).
I think that what we saw at the end of Chapter 260 was Yuuji causing damage so big to Sukuna’s heart chakra (in this particular case of jjk, soul) that he caused the elements of Sukuna’s body to deteriorate and enter different stages. We are seeing Sukuna being pushed to the edge of dying and his vision of ‘the ghost of the strongest’ is the representation of the visions (hallucinations) that arise from the uncontrolled mind at the moment of the beginning of the death process and the dissolution of the body. He is desperate (or trapped in a place/position he has never truly envisioned himself to be in) and clinging to the version of himself when his ego-identity was at its highest (i.e. defeating the strongest of the modern era). And how he sees Gojo, arising from the smoke (dust) is similar to how the hallucinations arise between the deterioration of the elements as well.
#i promise it makes sense when you read it to the endㅋㅎ#ha. my brain won't brain properly after the hours long public defense but i tried.#and i better be rightㅋㅎ#akutami gege please do not take that road. this road here is what you must embark on.#ha. i need to shut up.#sukuna#jjk sukuna#jjk#jjk spoilers#jujutsu kaisen#ryomen sukuna#gojo satoru#itadori yuuji

The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn Era 1, #1)
5/5 - fabulous characters, heist novel, Vin my beloved!! start of a truly fabulous trilogy, really innovative magic
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
This was the first Sanderson novel I read and it really captured my heart (as it probably obvious). As such, it holds a special place of honor To Me as one of his superior works.
The Final Empire is excellent for a number of reasons. First, it's a heist movie in a book. Think Ocean's 11 (2018). The crew is all very likeable and they come together to put together a truly insane plan. The best part is that, at several points in the story, key elements of the plan go completely wrong. It's delightful. Nothing is better than watching characters who are supposed to be clever actually act clever.
TFE is also distinct amongst many trilogy consisting of a fight against an evil overlord in that the fight happens and succeeds in the very first book. It doesn't take them the usual first attempt, minor success, second attempt horrific failure, and third attempt actual victory that usually happens over the course of fantasy trilogies. This also means they actually have to have the philosophical discussions that usually get tossed to the wayside regarding what to do after a revolution succeeds. Delicious I tell you.
Sanderson is also a master of describing places that are foreign compared to Earth and then sells these concepts by changing the way that characters behave. People thinking plants being green would just be weird? Extra notes of importance on the color white because of all the ash? The world doesn't only look different, which is common in most fantasy settings, but the characters feel like they're from somewhere totally different, which some books are not successful at.
Allomancy as a concept is also something that's super distinctive to me. Sanderson is pretty well-known in fantasy circles for defining "hard" and "soft" magic and he abides pretty strictly by those rules.
And the cherry on top of the cupcake is Vin. My beloved. Her struggle with identity, trust issues, her own power, it's just everything to me. She goes through a whole "I'm not like other girls" arc and yet she's still struggling. She's immensely powerful and yet so inexperienced. I love her. I would do anything for her.
Also Vin and Elend's romance is just so cute. You have to feel for Vin the whole time. They have my whole heart.
Now having read The Secret History, I still harbor some conflicted feelings towards Kelsier. He's such a good father figure to Vin (which makes him dying so heartbreaking) but his whole religious arc still leaves me feeling weird.
PS: If you would like some really good Vin art, or good Sanderson art in general, I highly recommend @lamaery their Vin design and their costume design is !!! crazy good
#I could wax poetic about this book#AND I WILL#i didn't even get to talk about Sazed or ab Ham's philosophy discussions or the mist or the POLITICAL MANEUVERING??#but i'm trying to be brief. i love this book.#only problem is that Elend is blond and I just don't think blond men are pretty :/ sorry Elend#mistborn#the final empire#mistborn spoilers#vin venture#kelsier#mistborn era 1#cosmere#book review#fantasy#high fantasy#brandon sanderson#elend venture

(Potential spoilers for Lost Light?) (Rung rant ahead)
So I was going over Cybertronian mythology and history, (as one does), and came to a realization that Primus, Rung, is basically Adam.
Like
Do you see what I mean????
He is the first who with the Guiding Hand then sparked the hot spots,
But also not because they aren't human and it is completely different (so kinda Eve and Adam in one? He is Eve and Adam) but
Put in human terms and understanding, he is more like Adam then God, however to Cybertronian mythology and most religious sects it's the other way; he is God.
But a bit more “down-to-earth,” so less God, but that's our understanding of what a god is. Something omni-potent, all powerful, immortal. (and even that isn't really solid in our mythologies)
But also defined as the supreme ruler, the creator
Kinda fits more but still?????
In the true history of it, Rung is Adam.
Yet in the warped history of Cybertron, he is God.
History is twisted so Adam is God. Twisted enough that he becomes God. (Believe something enough it becomes true, right?)
Which, thinking about even more, is crazy. God is supposed to be this other-wordly, other-dimensional being that we just can't conceive completely. Can’t know completely. Rung, by Adaptus, can not be known, or remembered, completely. So in that way, he is more like a god. He was made more like a god by not being known. Not able to be known.
He is a quasi-god.
But not really. Or really??? It's all about perspective but how can you perceive something that in every sense can't be perceived. Can't be known. Can't be understood.
You can't name it. Can't categorize it. Him. Which adds even more support to what makes him a God.
Yet, who, if he is Adam, is God? While they do not need that role filled, as they do not abide by our rules and religions, what created Cybertron? What created him? Evolution? The natural universe? Quintessons??? Do they actually have a creator, a god-like entity????
Damn, I need to write a whole essay on this old man.
#i am going on a fender-bender of tf history and mythology and was going into such an obsessive episode over this my hands were shaking#back and obsessive#you know we're there when the quantum science enters the mythology conversation#never thought id talk about the bible on this site...#atheist btw#tf#maccadam#idw#rung#primus#cybertronian mythology

junelezen day 9: deviation
She held in her hands the soul crystal of a sage.
[Content Warning: Heavensward spoilers, major character death, parent death, sibling death, suicidal thoughts]
Since her arrival in Gridania, conjury had been Ariane's chosen path, and she had never thought to part from it. Had the Elementals not chosen her, after all? Had she not wondered, ever since that day she had awakened on the outskirts of the Shroud in the aftermath of Bahamut's fury, inexplicably alive though her family, friends, and neighbors had perished, whether it was indeed the Twelveswood that had saved her?
It had seemed right, for so long. And then—
The wound is too deep. It refuses to mend…
You… you are unharmed? Forgive me… I could not bear the thought… Oh, do not look at me so…
Alphinaud had turned to look at her in those last moments, even before her love had spoken his last words, as she had quietly concentrated enough aether in her staff to drain herself dry. Had whispered, "Ariane, no—" even as Haurchefant had clasped her hand with waning strength and breathed, "A smile better suits a hero."
She had smiled for him, and pushed everything she had into that spell, to force it to cast, even with her mana reserves near spent.
Raise.
The blinding pain had been the last thing she remembered.
-
Hydaelyn's blessing had not been there to protect her. She probably should have died. Should have—if she'd done it right. It was possible to forcibly deplete one's own aether. She'd seen it done.
She'd watched Moenbryda do it.
The world would have survived without her. The Scions would have carried on. They loved to act as though she was unique, but their order contained many others with the Echo—now including Minfilia's newly-arrived friend, Krile Baldesion. The Scions could have found, or trained, someone else to lead the charge against the primals. Ariane was not so special, or so strong, or so skilled, that she could not be replaced.
Even now, she thought sometimes of his spirit, adrift in the aetherial sea, if there was any truth to such stories. Could not his soul still abide somewhere? And in death, might they not be reunited—not only Haurchefant, but all those she had loved and lost? Mother and Father. Gratienne. Even Minfilia…
But then she thought of Alphinaud, seeing her awaken on the couch, and saying quietly, "Pray, never do that again." And she could hardly bear to remember the terror and loneliness in his eyes, the understanding of how he must have felt when he thought she too might die. She could not put him through that again.
So she had to live. It was simple, even if every step in this world without them ached.
But white magic had failed her, and she had failed as a white mage.
Perhaps it was time for a new path.
-
The power she channeled through the nouliths was nothing like what she had wrought with her conjurer's staff. White magic had required stillness, for one—the time and focus required to cast most spells demanded she keep still, and she had grown accustomed to planting her feet and moving only when the tide of battle forced her to. She had been reactive—watching her allies for every blow that landed, any sign of a wound, and channeled healing magic to them in turn. That was what a healer did, was it not? She could conjure earth and wind against her enemies, but her true work came after the blows fell.
(Until it wasn't enough.)
The true work of a sage began the instant they stepped onto the battlefield. Before the first blow was struck, before blood was drawn. As they ventured into St. Mocianne's Arboretum in the Dravanian Hinterlands, Lalah directed her to cast Kardia, a spell that would channel healing magic to her companion from every blow Ariane dealt in battle.
"Now, a barrier," Lalah said, gesturing along the overgrown path to the creatures lurking ahead. Eukrasian diagnosis. A magical barrier settling around her companion, protecting her from harm.
She cast, and she practiced, and it stung like the bitterest Coerthan wind, with every barrier spell she learned.
To protect, not simply react after the fact. Had she known she could do this, could be this—
If only she had had this in the Vault.

───── Music of the Forest
彡 Satoru is on a journey of coming to terms with his feelings for you, and he's come to find that the music his soul yearns for dwells within you, wherever you may be.
tw / cw : fluff and a tiny bit of angst? there's a happy ending ,, tobacco is briefly mentioned but not used for smoking lol, slight jjk 0 spoilers ,, i think that's all but lmk if i missed anything
pairing : gojo x reader
gender neutral, no physical descriptions of reader
a/n : born out of my love of the forests and inspired by a stsg painting I did. im so happy with how this turned out.
kinda me coded with a tiny tiny sprinkle of my own culture, but I think I kept it vague enough for everyone to enjoy.🫶🏾
w/c : 3.1k
Satoru has a knack for being a pest, at the best and worst of times. He needs to nourish his brain with information, desperate to know what causes people to tick. And as he’s grown older, he’s found himself observing the crowds around him a lot more.
He takes note of the way their energy engulfs them with the different emotions they endure. He sees how their anger is jagged and rude, or how their happiness appears in serene waves. Annoyance comes in spikes and sadness drizzles down.
And today is just another day for Satoru. Sat in his office, playing with a pen, avoiding work. Choosing to observe silently at the surrounding people. Seeing as they moved room to room, it was rather dull.
He became intrigued when he saw you wandering into the spooky forests. Mostly because you're someone he’s never gotten the opportunity to know. Thus, he couldn’t help but follow along — anything to get out of this boring paperwork.
He makes the hasty decision to teleport himself right next to you. Which caused him to startle you, popping up out of thin air like the menace he is. You tried giving him a smack, but his infinity stopped you, foiling your plan. Instead, you opted for scolding him. Warning him that if he was going to come with you, he best keep his mouth shut.
It was hard for him to abide by the single rule. Satoru being the never quiet man, always with something to say, and now with so many questions swirling within him.
“So, you wanna tell me why we’re sitting in the middle of the forest?” He said.
You shot him a look and shook your head, “I come here to heal, to think, whatever I need.”
He nodded slowly, pondering on your words, “and the forest helps to do that how? You eat berries and feel better?”
Rolling your eyes, you pat the spot beside you, telling him to listen. And he did, though he hadn’t really understood at first. He’ll admit the wind was gentle, it was calm. You could hear the leaves moving and the wildlife scurrying about, but nothing felt healing about it — well, he certainly didn’t feel healed.
However before he could prod at you further, you reached over to pull something out of your bag. It was a small sack of brown flakes — tobacco, loosely wrapped in a red cloth, with little beads tucked into a design on the chunk of it. And he was left feeling even more confused, especially after you stood up to scatter some about.
“It’s an offering. I’m giving back what I’ve taken.” You said as you turned to face him. Almost as if you could read his mind.
Yes, you were a mysterious person to Satoru. Sitting in the middle of nowhere to heal your soul. Sprinkling brown flakes on the ground like you were seasoning the earth. It just made no sense to him, but you did seem content every time you emerged from the trees; looking more at ease.
And he couldn’t help but tag along with you whenever he could. Wanting to know what this was all about, what you were all about. He’d poke at you, bombarding you with questions on the occasions that you’d begrudgingly allow him to.
Slowly, you became a part of his routine, ingraining yourself in his already busy schedule. And these trips into the forest turned into getting lunch rather late in the day, or coffee a little too late at night. And your woodlands started to become too familiar to him.
It began with you asking him to come along and get a drink and then it was a picnic. After a while, these things were almost routine and if he wasn’t able to stay and chat; he made it a point to at least stand in line with you before he had to go.
During that time, he began to know you on a more human level, getting to understand how your gears turned. And during these fleeting moments he learned how you like your coffee, your favourite food and color. He also learned of the way you heal; the way you replenish your mind. It’s so vastly different from the way he literally refreshes his brain — it’s so mundane in comparison.
“I just don’t get it.” Satoru said, sipping his overly sweet drink.
You sat across from him, swirling your own beverage with a straw. Your leg bounced as your eyes met your own in the reflection of his imposter sunglasses.
“Well, maybe you haven’t found your music yet.”
“I have music,” he gasped, “like that one song by Avicii- “
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. Your theme song,” you snickered, “this music is different, though. It heals your soul.”
You’d always tell him that his sound will find him, as it does with everyone. When the time is right, you’d say. He wasn’t able to wrap his head around your words, and he’d preach to you time and time again about how he didn’t get it. But you’d only ever roll your eyes and shake your head at him, “be patient.”
This was something that his eyes couldn’t give him answers to. Because even someone as godly as him was unable to fully comprehend it through sight alone. It wasn’t cursed energy, or some grand battle tactic. This was a reminder to him that there are boundaries and limits to what even the most powerful beings can understand. And this is something he had to experience on a deeper level, beyond the realm of vision.
When time rolls on, he starts to hear it. The sound of a distant melody. It was the brassy thrum of his heart when you’re near and the dewy pitch of your voice. And your rippling cackles that crashed through him. Though, it’s a little scary at first, this feeling isn’t new — and it’s certainly one he wasn’t hoping for a sequel of.
Because when Satoru falls, he falls hard. And it’s not a soft pillowy fall by any means. It’s in a way where he crashes and burns. His love scorches him and claws at his heart. Taunting him with what’s barely in his grasp — and that of which has long since left.
His feelings linger in his brain and dance deep within his core. They seem to flow through him in a more complex way, taking twists and turns that are difficult to predict. It’s all a little unnerving to him — you’re a little unnerving to him.
As he drifts away into his thoughts, he thinks to himself how you bring nothing but uncertainty. You’re a storm rippling its way through his steady breeze, bringing chaos in your pursuit. Though he supposes your rain is a kind of refreshing that his abilities can’t provide. And you leave behind a beautiful burst of colours when you go.
“You okay? You look kinda stupid with that lost look on your face.” You asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“Yeah, I’m a little busy right now.”
You give him a look, one that makes him feel a little too small. It feels a little too personal, and it’s a bit too knowing, as if you were the one who wielded the six eyes.
“Mhm right. When you’re done sulking, there’s this new bakery that I wanna check out.”
Admittedly, he feels a little giddy with the knowledge of you wanting to go out with him. Maybe his heart skips a beat right after the words leave your mouth, but he tries his hardest to brush it off and ignore it because this feeling doesn’t have a home in this wretched place of his.
It’s because he knows love is truly the most twisted curse of them all. It’s a swirl of every emotion under the sun and it can swallow you whole. One wrong move and everything could fall apart. There’s no manual for how to navigate through this sticky feeling, and there’s no right way to do it either. It’s as beautiful as it is cruel.
You add the fact that there’s a constant target on his back. People want him dead, curses do too. Logically, he knows that having you is selfish, it puts you at risk. Because allowing himself the pleasure of loving you is a losing game. And for that reason, he chose not to play; to be somebody who only watches as the show unfolds.
Thus, he tries to keep his distance, never letting his sickly emotions take the reins. But it seems the harder he tries to pull away, your soul holds him a little tighter; enticing him back in.
“Look, ‘toru!” You point to a group of funny looking mushrooms, with eyes shining so brightly they could put the sun to shame.
Your smile reaches out to grasp at his heart, holding it tightly, not wanting to let go. That’s when he swears the world stops; or something cheesy like that. The pieces of his heart crash around in his chest and he forgets how to breathe — how to move, how to function.
He sputters out, “Can we eat them?”
“Yes, or we could pick them and sell em for a fortune.” You let out a mischievous chuckle, “I’m only giving you a percent of the profits though, you already have too much money.”
He doesn’t know why he asks what kind of mushrooms they are, because he already knows. In fact, most of the things he listens to you ramble about he’s already quite knowledgeable on. But he gets to listen to your damn voice, and your attention isn’t on anybody but him as you explain these little interests of yours.
And he thrives in your rays of light. He almost seems to forget what emotion this is and what it entails. But maybe, he thinks, just for a moment, he can be Satoru, the annoying guy who gets under your skin, rather than Satoru Gojo, the strongest with the all-seeing eyes.
And it’s not until some faculty meeting that he realizes he’s down bad. Every time he tries to listen to what Yaga is saying, his orbs wander to you. He wonders if you’d want to get dessert later, or if you’ll invite him on a little picnic again.
It seems Satoru just gets lost in you. It’s become so blatantly obvious to everyone around him. Shoko nags at him and tells him to just go for it. Saying things like, “You’ll regret it more if you don’t.” And he hates that she’s probably right, he hates that he has these stupid feelings even more.
“You’re acting like an angsty teen.”
He huffs, crossing his arms, “am not. I just don’t have time for that relationship stuff.”
Shoko pauses what she's doing, placing a hand on the table in front of her as she turns to look at Satoru with a deadpan expression, “but you have time for dates.”
“They’re not dates.” He mumbles.
He wants to argue. He really does, but he knows he can’t. He especially knows because he’s stumbled down into Shoko’s grim abode more than enough times, asking her what the hell should I wear.
And maybe these feelings get a little too real when he finds himself focusing on you, when he should really be paying attention to his students. Observing in a daze as you walk across the field. Your arm shoots up to give him a wave, or maybe it was a wave to everyone, but he likes to think it was reserved for him.
Or maybe it’s when he’s making a cup of coffee, and you brush against him. And he just pauses what he’s doing because he finds you so captivating. He can’t help the way his hands yearn to trace every curve. To sculpt you into the space of his mind, and create a masterpiece that is you.
But whenever you’re near, his body is always left feeling a little confused as this calm and unease both settle as lovers within him. The unrest that stems from the lack of control, that unpredictability leaves him nervous. And he knows vulnerability comes with weakness, and to be weak is to be slashed down.
When he stumbles back into his office, he realizes he forgot cream and sugar. And it’s the little things like this that make his thoughts race. His brain wants him to run far away from you. It’s telling him to leave you behind before this can go any further. He tugs at his hair, clawing at his scalp. His eyes scan for something they can’t see. He desperately scours his mind to figure out what to do.
Knock knock
And his head shoots up. He feels like he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t be. That is, until he realizes it’s you, and then things feel a little okay. Almost as if you bring along the unspoken words he’s searching for. You don’t pry, and you don’t ask questions he doesn’t wanna answer.
Maybe that’s why he’s grown to feel this way for you. You don’t push too hard, and when you do, it’s always at the right times. Oh, and you’re always sure to bring him some proper food when you pop in to say hi. You do all these things and expect nothing in return.
You dig deeper than the flimsy mask he wears and you’re patient with these circles he finds himself running in. You don’t chase him, instead you stroll behind, cherishing the journey that you’ve found yourself on. In the end, he feels human with you.
“Did you eat something today? You look ghostly.” You giggle, holding up a bag, “I brought lunch, let’s eat.”
And it’s now, he thinks, it starts to fall into place, when he feels it the most. It’s almost as if when you’re around, a sense of peace washes over him, a feeling of calm that he can’t find anywhere else. It gives his soul a phantom sensation of being so tenderly held; of loving arms around him. It’s not just a physical sensation, but something deeper, something that touches his core.
It’s like he can feel his essence expanding, reaching out towards something unknown, as if they were two halves of the same whole. It’s a feeling of completeness, of being exactly where he’s meant to be. And when he breathes, it’s as if he’s inhaling remnants of himself; or rather, somebody foreign, yet so very familiar to him.
And it’s days like today where he craves this sound the most. Days where the world feels a little empty and dull. No amount of reverse techniques can mend the passing of a friend you once cherished so much. He doesn’t wanna listen to the talk of the surrounding people. He doesn’t want to boil in anger and sadness. And he especially doesn’t want to be left alone thinking about all the what ifs.
Like clockwork, you poke your head into this wintery office of his. You take a seat and push a bottle of water towards him, followed by a little sandwich that you probably made at home. You don’t say anything, allowing him to wither in the noise you bring. And little by little he nibbles quietly on the food you offer, sipping the water as he goes.
Your eyes find his when you break the silence, “Seriously, Satoru, are you okay?”
“Always.” He gave you a toothy grin, but his facade has grown to become useless against you.
In return, you give him a soft smile; a knowing one, “Whenever you’re ready, you know where to find me.”
Off you go again, into those trees to listen for something he can’t seem to find. His heart yearns for this sound that you speak of. It’s dire for him to know. He craves the calm you have and the peace you carry. And he wonders if you’ll ever give him a taste of it.
He lets himself linger in the essence you’ve left behind. Pondering on the events that have taken place over the months. You’ve so diligently taken care of everyone affected by the tragedy, and yet you still find the time to come to him and comfort him in a way he doesn’t know he needs.
Satoru sighs loudly, running a hand through his snowy hair. He asks himself if he could handle your death, if he could let you go. He also wonders if he’s looking too deep into this.
His heart reaches out to find your remnants, begging for your peace. It pleads for your calm and yearns for your ease. And this is when he almost subconsciously gets up to follow you along into your pillowy green song. His legs started to move before his mind could protest. It feels natural; it feels normal. Your vibrations linger on the path he follows and his roots guide him to his haven.
It’s in these woods Satoru has found his heart lies with you. It dances with you as you pull him in to move along to the sounds of your music. His heart sings a little out of tune with you in the mornings and it sways along to your memory. And as he delves deeper into these trees, the sound is clear to him more than ever.
He can hear the echoing hums that follow the wind, guiding it into the ears that are willing to listen. The leaves that dance and sing, and the life within them that stomps their feet. The wild flowers that do their best to keep up, giving to the little bees that decide to follow. And he sees how the sun shines brightly down on the whispers of the world, carrying its warmth to those who may need it.
This is where peace is found. And this is where the heart goes to heal, taking the sacred medicine and using it to prepare the soul for its next battle — whatever it may be. And this is exactly what Satoru needs; a cleanse of his broken heart. Far away from the bustling city life. It’s a place where time stands still and chooses to tenderly embrace the wandering spirits that pay it a visit.
Deep within is where he finds you, basking quietly in the light rays. Allowing your body to nourish itself with what’s offered to you. And during these scarce moments, Satoru has come to find that the music of the forest dwells within you, wherever you may be.

Speaking of ikemen/otome games; I want to ask you about the game you seem to really like; lovebrush chronicles
Tell me all about your faves (and least favourites if you have any), what the suitors are like, do you like how the MC(?) Is written, anything is fair game
first of all, thank you so much for asking!! I rarely get any asks like this so this made me really happy!
To answer your question, the game is about travelling through different universes. (The game's Chinese name literally means "the time travelling painter" or something like that) basically the MC (you) is an art major at this one school on an island, St. Shelter Academia (weird name i know) the MC is also a manga author however, and no one else knows except this one guy (I'll explain more about him later, he doesn't have any routes in the main story but he does in events) the MC created the manga because she's been having dreams about it for a while, but she was getting stuck on the content lately
you also adopt a cat
don't wanna spoil it for you in case you wanna find out for yourself, but stuff happens and you get isekaid to the world. in your manga. There you find out that you've been writing manga about an alternate universe, and the 5 (4?) love interests all play important roles in the story
Basically their country was being terrorized by ice butterflies that freeze everything they touch, so it's a neverending winter there. only the mages can hold the butterflies off but the public doesn't trust them
Now onto the love interests!!
the universe the MC came from is the Modern universe (earth) and the alternate universe is Godheim.
Lars is a wealthy entrepreneur who also happens to be a big fan of your manga (he doesn't know that you wrote it though). He's one of the school's investors.
In Godheim, he's the tyrannical emperor who summons you to that world and says that you're to be his bride.
I don't wanna paint him in a negative light because he's actually very caring and holds family close to his heart, he's also one of the few characters in Godheim that can take a joke lol. basically silly happy emperor actually has trauma. He is also a feminist.
His route is really sweet and pretty good but it wasn't my personal favorite.
Ayn is his cousin. In Godheim, he and clarence have an alliance.
His route has the second-most bad endings. He shares this with Ayn.
He's also the tallest-
Clarence is the student council president who abides by the rules and gets good grades. He's also a law major.
In Godheim, he is the steely cold, merciless Archmage (the leader of all the mages) of Magi Tower. He was the one who did the ritual to summon you, and he was gonna keep you in a bird cage with roses on it but Lars said no so you're allowed to roam the castle but if you make even the tiniest of mistakes BAM. Back in the cage.
Clarence isn't my favorite so I don't know much about him, but he wants you to do well so he tries to push you to do so.
Clarence's Godheim route is the last one, so it's where you uncover the secrets of godheim. I didn't like his route much but I did enjoy seeing his soft side. Also, you get to beat a pervert's ass. And the MC cusses in this route (she says "grade A ass whooping). It's amazing.
His route has the most bad endings.
Ayn is a music major and a freshman like you. He's really popular but also doesn't really like interacting with people, he's very much of an introvert. He can come off as rude but he's just tsundere. he's also a gamer, and a pretty dedicated one at that. He very much believes in tough love. He's not the comforting type.
In Godheim, he is the stubborn leader of the Inquisitors, who basically kill rebels and people who disobey the king. He was originally the crown prince but Lars took it from him (the reason why is a spoiler) and Ayn wants to kill Lars as revenge for that. He's been biding his time in order to do that.
Ayn's route was one of my favorites, it was action-packed yet still soft at the same time. Also, his outfit is 😳
I'm pretty sure his route has the same number of bad endings as lars.
He's the shortest.
Alkaid (my favorite!!) helps you and Ayn in this route.
And now, for my favorite, Alkaid!!
He's the kind upperclassman who helps you get settled at school. He's a junior I think, an astronomy major. He's so sweet I swear to God ❤❤ he has a cat, and your cat and his cat play together often. He likes gardening.
In Godheim, alkaid is the submissive but kind mage assigned to protect you and watch you for clarence. Clarence is his boss. He's one of the most powerful mages in the Magi Tower. Anything else I say will be a spoiler for the entirety of Godheim...
In both universes, even though he is kind and believes in the good of people, he doesn't let himself get walked all over and doesn't hesitate to stand up for others if necessary.
Alkaid's route is tooth-rotting fluff. It's so cute because with your help he finally realizes that he shouldn't be afraid to fight or question authority, and that he can't just let everything happen if there's something he can do. His route is my favorite, next to Ayn. It also has the least amount of bad endings, only two, but let me tell you those two bad endings are soul crushing. I got a bad end on my first playthrough and it RIPPED ME APART.
Last but not least, Cael. If you're into butler type characters then he is for you. Cael is the one who took care of you when your mom died (your dad died when you were like 3).
In Godheim, he is the silver knight leading the rebellion against the emperor.
I don't have much to say on him because he's not my favorite and he doesn't have a route, but he's behind the bigger mysteries in Godheim.
He plays a big role in Lars' route.
after Godheim, you can pick an ending for one suitor where you're both happy together. After that, the next world is Eden but I'm not going to go too much into that because i like godheim more
The mc is gorgeous. Her facial expressions in the cards are everything.
All in all the game's pretty good, but it's not very well-known here so it has a fairly small and non-toxic fandom
In the battles, something called "assist events" can trigger where you have to choose the correct option to get a buff. If you choose the incorrect option then you get a debuff. The voice acting is amazing and the illustrations are really pretty, the soundtrack is beautiful too
Sorry for the word dump ;; I just wrote and wrote and i didn't see how big it got 😅
Hope this answered your question!! lots of platonic kisses and i hope you're doing well <33

Ladies' Profile: Euphemia Ebenae
(Euphemia's very nature is very much Shadowbringers and Endwalker spoiler territory, so I'm doing the spoiler cut early.)
================================================
Name: Euphemia Ebenae (Euphie to her close friends; the surname is not her original one.)
Pronouns: she/her (cis woman)
Age: 37 (by physical appearance), approximately 37,214 (on strict chronology) (as of Patch 6.55, The Coming Dawn, born December 13/13th Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon)
Origin: Ancient (appears as an Ala Mhigan Highlander)
Family members: Andronikos (father, deceased), Sophia (mother, deceased), Venat (adoptive mother), Mirita, Khorijin, Rija, Khoride, Ystride (adopted daughters)
Height: 193.2cm/6’4”
Preferred professions: Yes. (Functionally, whatever professions any of the Ladies learns, she knows as well.)
Aetheric alignment: Astral earth
In a time long ago--something akin to a thousand thousand lifetimes, if not longer--a young Ancient whose parents did research on Elpis were returned to the star by pure happenstance, an accident. But 'twas this happenstance that led a woman by the name of Venat to take the child under her wing some years later, whilst said child was in the middle of what you might call a youthful rebellion. With this direction, Euphemia grew into strength and skill both, falling in with two other young Ancients who would rise to the Convocational seats of Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus and eventually proving herself worthy as Venat's successor as Azem.
After the recruitment of the new Fandaniel following an incident at Elpis, however, things... changed. The Final Days howled and raged across Etheirys, and with it, the ruin of the star followed, along with the desperate summoning of Zodiark. And--even more tellingly--Venat's final gambit to stop the star from being completely destroyed. A gambit that Euphemia could not abide by, no matter how deeply she loved her second mother. So, she walked away, searching for her own answer, but did not find it before Venat assumed the mantle of Hydaelyn and split the star into fourteen.
Through a fluke--or mayhap, simply, the imperfect nature of all things--Euphemia herself was not sundered evenly across all reflections. The Source in particular had three of her, and though they never rejoined in one body, they eventually did as a family of choice--that of Mirita Ebenae, Khorijin Borlaaq, and Rija Muscadet.
Eventually, these three, alongside Khoride and Ystride, stumbled across a memory crystal made by Emet-Selch in memory of Euphemia. Its magic served them well from there on, but it was Hydaelyn's final blessing upon it at the Mothercrystal that awoke Euphemia's shade--their stray thoughts of just *who* they were in the time before gave form to her formlessness, drawing what remained of her from the memory crystal, the lingering memories in their souls, and the aetherial sea around them. Revived in an initially immaterial state, she remained a passive watcher, hidden from sight, until the Ladies arrived at the very edge of the universe, at which point she finally manifested herself in full, gave a final farewell to her dear friends Hythlodaeus and Emet-Selch, and served as final witness to the end of the Endsinger and Zenos before choosing a new journey alongside her "shards"--or, as she would soon come to regard them, her precious and beloved daughters.
Aspects of who Euphemia is, not just in appearance but also in personality, can be seen in Mirita, Khorijin, and Rija in different ways; she appears as an Ala Mhigan Highlander because of Mirita, but has Khorijin's eyes and has Rija's highlights, all physical features she had before reviving. However, other aspects of the traits she shares with all of her daughters becomes apparent the longer one comes to know her--she has Mirita and Rija's respectively cheerful and alluring playfulness, as demonstrated by her tendency to pretend to know less than she does in service of a jest, and shares both Khorijin and Ystride's quiet reserve as well as their cool heads, and while she rarely makes use of it, Khoride's imposing sense of authority and power easily shrouds her even when it seems it shouldn't. She is, however, Ancient, and while she does not share Hades's fixation on the past--she has long accepted that their own pride and hubris is what ended their time as the star's stewards, especially given the role society played in Hermes' isolation--she tends to reminisce from time to time about what she has lost in less cheerful moments, though her daughters always draw her from her funk.
By nature of her existence, Euphemia is connected to the Ladies in the same way that Khoride and Ystride are to Khorijin--as a result, between her own experience as a combatant and her ability to draw upon their experiences in turn, Euphemia is a master of might and magic alike. A Samurai's blade, a Monk's fists, a Warrior's axe, and even the likes of Black, White, and Red Magic or any combat arts beyond her time--none are beyond her reach, if she so chooses. On the battlefield itself, she moves and strikes decisively, maneuvering with Mirita's casual power and speed, Khorijin's unerring precision, and Rija's agility, but to a degree that none of them can match individually, and while she cannot wield creation magic as casually as the likes of an Unsundered Ancient, her well of aether is equally a match to her daughters' collective own, and a little bit more.

5 Great Things About an Episode I Hate (7, actually!)
The Halloween episode is my least favorite episode of Bleach. It PAINS me. Viscerally. But we watched it last night as part of our rewatch—and have, for some reason, watched it as a stand-alone multiple times, on purpose?? So last night I figured I’d think productively about it and keep track of at least 5 things I like about it!
1. Ichigo Cannot Abide his Own Recap
This episode takes place in the context of the final moments of the Winter War. We’re talking like, Aizen is transforming, Ichimaru’s time on this earth is limited, Final Getsuga Tenshou, final moments of this 93-season-spanning arc. Ichigo and Aizen are about to face off and make clear what the difference is between the two of them. And then this.
But astute viewers of The Halloween Episode will find portentous spoilers here: Ichigo is about to launch into a long recap of the Arabian Nights episode… and stops himself!
This is in the immediate aftermath of Aizen having spent two entire episodes recapping the entire series. And this, friends, is the true difference between their mettles.
2. Pumpkin Ghost Orihime
ToT This requires no elaboration. She is so cute. I’m here for Pumpkin Ghost Orihime and Pumpkin Ghost Orihime only.
3. Pirate Renji
Well, that and mummified pirate Renji. LOVE HIM. We went into this episode muttering nutterishly, "just think about Renji and Orihime just think about Renji and Orihime" and look they’re stars, perfection, I survived this episode and am alive today only by their majesty.
4. Chad was spared all of this
Despite the fact that Hitsugaya and Matsumoto are Here For Some Reason (a feat I usually love for them but hate for them so, so, so, so, so, emphatically deeply in this episode), and even She Not Appearing Ever Hinamori is here(!!!), Chad is not.
I like to think it’s because he’s busy preparing an ofrenda for his grandfather and is taking an evening for himself. Self-care. 😌
5. It’s All Komamura’s Fault
The conceit of the episode is that this was all a dream of Komamura’s, similar to the Arabian Nights dream being Isane’s. Not that dream interpretation benefits from too linear an analysis ("X appears in Y way, so Komamura must think Z"), but it makes me wonder what reports Komamura was reading in bed, because there’s not really a strong reason he’d know all that much about Ishida and Orihime, or really even Ichigo. To say nothing of RYUUKEN and ISSHIN, who are also in this episode for some reason.
— Was Chad omitted because Kyouraku did not deign to submit a report after his ryoka fight?
— Did Ishida and Orihime make it in because Ishida’s a Quincy and Orihime has unusual powers/got kidnapped?
— Did Komamura visit Hinamori while she was recovering, and that’s why she skated into dreamland? If so, love that for them. So much.
— Does Ryuuken and Isshin being here mean that the Gotei has files on both of them? Kurosaki Isshin, that is, as Soul Society’s Best/Worst Kept Secret at this point?
Bonus Round: 6. Features my Favorite OP
I do not pay a lot of attention to Bleach music—though I’m more amenable to the OP/EDs than the score by far—but The Marble OP is probably my favorite one. I know it has a real name, and I know its real name, but it’s the Marble OP.
But something I wondered last night that I’d never wondered before… What is the room that the hougyoku is in here? Fake Karakura’s Fake City Hall?
Bonus Round: 7. It's followed by the Best Bleach Episode of All Time
The Hisagi Inn Episode is RIGHT AFTER THIS ONE, the most immaculate Bleach episode of our hearts. B3 loves this episode more every time we see it, and our immediate reflex after it ends—every single time—is to watch it again immediately. ALL HAIL THE INN EPISODE
#the halloween episode#bleach filler#bleach anime#komamura sajin#no brain just bleach#really into this idea of komamura hinamori bffs ngl#it's like princess mononoke except i guess not really#wow i'm so into it though#thank u for this bleach halloween ep#never speak to me again but thank you!

I’ve pretty much been here since day one, but I’m always feeling so lost when I see what you guys are talking about, like Toby having godlike powers. I even go and check if there’s an update, I’m just so confused! 😳 I mean, I know the thing with Brian, but still.
For you anon, I'll walk you through Toby's journey so far. I think some other people are confused as well, as most of Toby's story goes right over Tim's head (for a reason). I also need to add more, because I am just kind of bad about certain details...
Thinking about it, this is exactly why I didn't want to refer to Slenderman as a God. He isn't really, and Toby doesn't actually have godlike powers.
Anyways! Possible Spoilers below. I've spent three hours making sure I'm not spoiling anything you don't already know from existing text, so whatever you're still confused about, you're probably supposed to be.
Ticci Toby's story so far in Origin: The Man Who Wasn't There:
Kills his dad and set his house on fire (See his og story). As he's setting his house on fire, he comes across a mask. Not knowing what it was, he left it to burn.
Has what he believes is a dream where he's invited to join some sort of creature with great power. He agrees, half-believing it's God and half-believing it's the Devil.
Joins Slenderman's cult without realizing they were very serious about the Religion Part. As an atheist, he cannot abide
Repeatedly criticizes Slenderman to the one person who is literally Possessed By Slenderman. He knows this, and does it seemingly for that reason. This creates a contemptuous relationship between Tim and Toby that is only civil when they're allowed to hurt someone else.
Shortly after meeting, Toby and Tim are kidnapped and tortured by Jeff The Killer in order to harvest their blood, which is revealed to be where The Operator's spores are residing. The two boys grow closer due to their trauma, as Toby realizes Tim is similar to him in a lot of ways (like that he's into dudes).
After being rescued by Clockwork, Kate the Chaser, and Ben Drowned, Toby is taken to The Ark to mentally and physically recover. There, he finally experiences a sense of stability. There's always food, and nobody beats him for trying to take it. He's allowed to play games, make friends, and play music. For the first time ever, he is allowed to exist.
At the same time, Toby is denied access to about 95% of The Ark's perks because he burned his mask and "rejected" The Operator. He doesn't just not have a Gift, he's demoted to being the lowest ranked Proxy. He isn't allowed to learn certain things, and every mistake he makes is used as an example to others. He is, quite literally, turned into the Scapegoat. This is the source of his first name, "The Hangman". While he's cared for more than on Earth, he is still abused by those around him for the benefit of the group.
This is despite the fact that Toby, objectively, is a model Proxy. He has an IQ equal to Eyeless Jack's; where he's allowed to succeed, he does so with flying colors. He is so talented that the other Proxies clamor to be near him out of sheer awe of his raw power, quick thinking, and merciless brutality.
His only perk on The Ark is what he asked The Operator for in exchange for his initial servitude- his a mom and his a sister. With Rogue being the main caretaker for the Proxies, he was basically doted on as much as he wanted.
He forms a kindred spirits friendship with Clockwork, entrusting her with his every true, honest emotion after she helped him recover from Jeff's abuse. Otherwise, however, Toby is withdrawn from everyone but his Collective. Every attempt to make friends outside his circle is met with frustration and disaster, and he chooses to intentionally isolate himself rather than deal with it. He deliberately misleads his Collective into thinking he has other friends and partners, but only Clockwork knows that he's lying.
Naturally, Toby rejects the title of Hangman. Under the noses of his superiors, he gains access to the Underrealm through Runes taught by Tim and Ben Drowned. He becomes particularly fond of using Severance, as it gives him the ability to unlock doors and find secret rooms.
(Gifts and Runes are the "Godlike Powers" everyone is talking about. Someone who is from two different realities can manipulate the chaos between them to their benefit, which is where Gifts come from. It's things Slenderman can do, and because of the Spore, Proxies can too.
Runes are needed to summon The Operator's power directly to them, giving them access to abilities they normally don't have. When Tim draws The Operator's Rune, for example, he's using the ability Manifest to invite his Master into a space. Severance is another, which can do basically anything if you're creative enough- it's considered both a Lock and a Key, if that makes sense. A third example would be Clockwork, who uses several Runes etched into her hand to perform her time manipulation.)
Toby should NOT be able to learn Severance, as that's in direct defiance of his punishment. Plus, there's an actual "equation" that has to be solved in order to perform a Rune's action correctly. Normally, The Operator does that math for them, as it's far too complicated for a human mind to understand. The Operator won't do it for Toby, as punishment for, y'know, thinking he's an asshole.
In the span of 200 years, Toby was able to learn that math and solve it himself.
In his efforts to learn how to do this, he uncovers many Secrets The Operator was hiding, both in plain sight and far in the dark: namely, a lot of plans that seem to be based around an unnamed End-Of-The-World catastrophe, and a lot of them revolving around Tim specifically. Investigation of any of these secrets only leads to more secrets, and those secrets lead to terrible implications. Then, Toby realizes everything is feeding into one, central conspiracy to do... something. It's yet another secret.
The boy wants answers. Against the strict rules of his superiors, Toby approaches The Shadow People, who are all from different points in time- past, present, and future. In exchange for information about The Kaninchenbau, Tim, and The Operator, The Observer (Tribetwelve) tells Toby that there is a certain point in the future where he can't see anything. Not that there's nothing there- there is. However, he can't see it. The Observer then tells him that Tim is lying and hiding things from him, just like The Operator is. He also reminds Toby that the two are symbiotic- meaning that, if he wants to win favor with one, he has to win it with the other.
Toby is discovered to be fraternizing with The Shadow People and trying to snoop. However, that time, he pleads to Tim to spare him, claiming that he wants to recommit to their cause. Tim's affection for him causes The Operator to give him a second chance to prove himself.
Together, Toby and Tim return to Jeff's house and dig up the corpses of their siblings that they left behind. While there, Korbyn, one of Eyeless Jack's servants, gives them a dire warning about the future, confirming everything Toby had been secretly researching.
Once Korbyn leaves and Tim and Toby retrieve the corpses, they perform a Conversion- one of the most, if not the most powerful formulas in The Underrealm. This act requires three things- Minds, Bodies, and Souls. With it, a piece of The Operator's soul is translated into physical form to exist in the human world.
(Keep in mind, the tall, lanky apparition we see is only a chosen projection- it's the form The Operator wants to take, if he were able to exist in the human world in the same way we do. His real form is so incomprehensibly massive that only tiny pieces of him are able to exist at a time. He's constantly looking for ways to get more of his soul into our world, as the more of him exists, the more immortal and powerful he is.)
In Toby's instance, The Conversion was done using the spore-filled bodies of his fallen siblings, The minds of The Operator's worst victims, and- most importantly- a piece of The Operator's own soul. This piece is named HABIT, and it's the collection of every negative, vile emotion that exists within The Operator. All of his hatred for humanity, all his roiling desire to consume everything- including, at times, his own children. It's all condensed into a literal Seed of Evil, and Toby swallows it to become a Vessel Proxy, which is the same kind of Proxy that Tim is.
The first Gift Habit teaches is how to convert humans into Beasts, transforming them in monsters that obey The Operator and, by consequence, Toby. So far, Toby is the only Proxy that is capable of doing this.
Toby gains access to everything Tim has in terms of abilities, privilege, and prestige. As far as the rankings go, he took Kate's #2 spot. He's no longer regarded as a scapegoat, and he's now involved as much as Tim is in official business.
Toby realizes that, somehow, HABIT has a mind of its own independent from The Operator- perhaps as a consequence of the minds that birthed it. It talks to Toby, encouraging him to commit horrible acts. He gives into it, initially, but once he realizes it doesn't care about his relationships, he fights against its influence.
The final consequence of his insubordination, however, is that Toby has to share the answers he learned with his friends. He knows everything: he knows what The Operator and the other creatures like him are so afraid of, why they're afraid of it, what they want to do about it, and how Tim plays into all of it. He knows what his role is going to be, and he knows both the "winning" scenario and the "losing" scenario.
While he's allowed to show them both winning and losing, he's only required to show them what happens when they lose.
He does not want to show them the vision of when they win.

Magic System Memorandum
20 Questions
Answers for: The Mechanics of Magic | Part 1
Link to Full Question List
It's probably time I started to post some of my own answers to this. I'll be doing it in parts, as some answers are quite long, but for anyone who is interested, the first 3 are below!
The Mechanics of Magic is a multiple-pov fantasy novel set in an original world where magic exists openly alongside early internet-level technology. The book follows the surviving prince of a deposed magical royal family (who has been living in secret for two decades) trying to rescue his son from the government whilst uncovering the truth about his family's murder.
Project Status: Technically complete and available, though currently with an editor so that I can release a second edition (I didn't get an editor at the time I initially self-published and it's something I've been wanting to rectify for some time).
The book is still up for sale in various places, but only because I haven't got around to taking it down while I wait to release the edited version.
If you're interested, please do wait for version 2 and, if you're really interested, just drop me a message and you can have either version of the e-book for free :)
Be aware, some of my answers will contain spoilers!
Now onto the questions:
1) We’ve all heard about hard and soft magic systems, but these do not exist as a binary. On the Mohs hardness scale, from diamond to talc, how hard is your magic system?
I'd put mine somewhere between orthoclase and a solid quartz, so about 6-7. There are definitely fixed rules for how magic works, which I abide by as the writer, but the characters themselves may not know all of these rules, particularly for some of my lesser known magic, which is a bit softer.
2) Is the magic in your fantasy world related to the natural environment, or is it a separate entity, inert and unconnected to nature?
Magic in 'The Mechanics of Magic' is not nature based. On its own, magic has no effect on the environment, but the existence of magic, which flows like a lake under the country of Ardveld, has affected the Ardveldian people over generations. This latent magic source has altered those who live above it, so that they are born with magic of their own, linked to their life force. Their bodies have also changed to be able to hold this magic, granting stronger magic users greater health and longer lifespans based on how much magic they are born with.
3) Has the geography of your world been affected by magic? If so, how?
Nowadays, almost no-one is aware of the lake of magic that sits under Ardveld, but a long time ago there were people who could sense it and use it. In particular, Ardveld's royal family were able to connect with this magic and draw on it, but this ability, along with the knowledge of the magic's existence at all, has been forgotten with time. The only remaining evidence is in an ancient legend, telling that the country's mountainous border was created by a ruler who raised the earth to defend it. In this sense, yes, the geography of the world was directly affected by magic.
The royal family are actually still able to feel Ardveld's magic lake, but this is only at particular points, that I call 'wells', where the magic rises up closer to the ground. This sensation is faint, and almost unnoticed by those feeling it, much like the buzzing of a fridge that fades into the background until it is turned off.
Since Ardveld's palace sits on top of a well, the royal family are vaguely aware of this strange sensation, but they have never paid it much mind and have certainly never tried connecting with it. They are very powerful mages, with more than enough magic of their own to serve their needs.
It is only after he moves away from the palace for the first time that Prince Matthew realizes he's been feeling anything at all; as such, he attributes the sensation to the location rather than him personally, and assumes that everyone around him can sense the magic too – isn't that what they mean by missing the feeling of home?
Matthew's son, Alex, has grown up away from the palace with no knowledge of his heritage. He discovers this magic independently and refers to it simply as 'ground magic'. He can't understand why he seems to be the only one who can feel it.

alex pronoun/gender time (spoilers for prototype 1 & 2)
okay i just want to preface this with. i am not super familiar with lgbtq+ terminology or labels so i apologize in advance if i say something weird or wrong (please correct me if i do! i am.. like an old man but i am willing to learn) but i do wave the trans flag myself :) also note that this my personal headcanon for alex, you are entitled to your own interpretations about alex !! (and i like seeing the differences between them)
alex is torn between his viral nature vs. the man he was. for almost all of his life he had nothing to go off of except his name and the memories of alex others would tell him, like dana or karen parker and so hes lost. lost and trying to find something to ground him, especially when the hivemind is pulling him in all these directions and the people hes consumed fill his mind with memories that arent his .
he wants to hold onto something that he knows is true to alex mercer, he wants to stay as close to the original mercer as he can (barring his douchebag personality) because that is what people percieve as "human"; a pretty bad example of a human, but a human nonetheless. hence, keeping the he/him pronouns because it makes him feel like he is just like them (them being society. he wants to fit in LOL)
he rejects the it/its pronouns (i think it/its pronouns are dope as hell but for my alex it doesnt really fit the characterization i gave him), mainly because its what blackwatch calls him to take away his humanity and treat him more as a weapon more than a person . he hates being called "it", it can really piss him off (and he rarely gets pissed off) .he wants to be more like what society thinks of as a "person's" pronouns?
of course, he is a shapeshifter who can flawlessly mimic other humans who, surprise! use other pronouns than he and him. so when he's in a disguise, he takes on the pronouns of whoever he is at that moment (she/her, they/them, ze/zir, it/its, all the others) without a single shit given. hes just as comfortable with those pronouns as he is with his, when hes shapeshifted.
its when blackwatch knows its alex and still use it/its that ticks him off, although there are some exceptions (like being undercover with someone, being a friend and .not blackwatch, etc). now that i think of it, alex, even when disguised, is still okay with he/him as long as its not in front of blackwatch or people who dont know hes a shapeshifting viral monster who is normally a man but sometimes everything else.
as for actual gender.... hes... i dont know how to describe it. both cis and agender? does that make sense? i headcanon him to be cis, like a cis male (and i think doc mercer too? but i dont really think about him that much) but also being a literal viron that has no gender because it is a virus. which have no gender. and he is no gender and all the genders inside because of the people hes consumed but he is a male??? this is confusing. hes confusing. hes confused. we are both confused.
he knows hes not human and therefore doesnt have to abide with human binaries, but he takes comfort in being a man - a human. in P2, the reason for him becoming Evil is because he manages to go on a international vacation to the places on earth where somehow, only the worst of humanity lives? and he never sees a glimpse of goodness and selflessness and love and joy ever during that whole period? and decides that everyone is just as bad as the worst of the worst and that only the strong (and apparently not evil? even though his actions are literally. Evil??????) shall survive?
what the FUCK, writers.
so i said FUCK YOU and gave this man a unquenchable thirst for life and hope and kindness and curiosity and learning. he will find humanity. he will see the bad but also the good and he will find that humans are not perfect but they are also humans who learn and create and grow and make mistakes! that the world is this grey, not so black and white, that he can make a difference not by some fucked up viral eugenics but by . being good and being helpful and being kind and loving and friendly and a ridiculous viral puppy dog cat thing that makes people laugh and smile.
. i like happy endings. sue me.
