time flies, a proof?

maybe it happened to you before too...

you go to a site you haven't been on for ages, or a site you sometimes come by, have an account, but haven't checked the profile you wrote there in a long time...

and you see what age you wrote down.

and it hits you.

it's not one year, not two years... not 3...4... it obviously has been more than that.... WTF?!?!

like today for me, when I checked what age I typed here on tumblr, once upon a time, and for sure, it wasn't the the last time I changed that.. I changed it before but... however..

right now, it's saying I'm "31", well.. at the end of this year I'll be 40 so...........

Kaftans for Tori

Tori Amos had on a beautiful yellow kaftan with white embroidery in a beachy social media post. I shopped for one similar to hers but in different colors, to wear at her Boston concert this past Saturday.

The set list has a nautical theme, with the show at the outdoor venue Leader Bank Pavilion on the Boston Harbor. It was a magical night.

The Pre Show meetup I organized ended up drawing a crowd of 40+ people. It was so fun to meet new Tori friends and see ones I've made from past shows. People wear awesome outfits at these shows. I seriously wish I could start a social media account dedicated solely to outfits of Tori Amos shows.

And my friends from high school and I stayed overnight in Boston, a city we had all lived in, and grew up 20 minutes from (w/o traffic).

The hotel, Hampton In. At Boston Seaport, was very nice and super busy. On the way home we noted that while we enjoyed visiting, we weren't Boston city mice anymore. I love my Providence, for sure.

I did all this on a crutch with a sprained calf, no less. My leg still hurts and I just messed it up again after spilling some tea and trying to catch the mug from falling off the counter. Anyway, the more important thing to say is that a Tori show and all the ritual around it--going early to drop off letters, chatting with Tori friends, being in the city, it's very invigorating. But then after I'm wiped. How does Tori do it day in and out on tour?

Swifties remind me so much of Tori Amos fans. Parsing every lyric for secret meanings. Wondering what each song was saying about her personal life. Collecting each album for the gazillion extra songs. Waiting with baited breath during each concert to see how the setlist changed. Defending your girl like you're the leader of the garrison in her personal army. It's so nostalgic, y'all. I love it.

the mourn watch background gives you such a GIFT in having other characters notice and call out on-screen that rook code switches like a motherfucker. the whiplash of hearing my snarky 'heeey I'm just a little guy! :>' funnyman rook speak the heightened ritualized phrases of the mourn watch with perfect seriousness and gravity completely naturally and/or break into an academic tone that can keep up with emmrich at the drop of a hat never stops giving me such endless delight. truly their real mind is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside some hideous mourn watch casual wear

Tori Amos Boston Concert Pre-Show Meetup at 4pm, Sat July 1, location TBD

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if one is in that rare Venn Diagram overlap of "Devout Tori Amos Fan" and "Totally an Extrovert" it is practically one's duty to organize a pre-show EWF meetup (& I'm quite sure I'm in quoting the from the wrong fandom...) 😆

I organized a pre-show meet up for Tori Amos's Boston last year, and it was so much fun nerding out with my fellow Ears With Feet (nickname for Tori fans) 🤓🥰🎹

I plan to organize one again this year, starting at 4pm. Venue for meetup is TBD but I'm thinking Harpoon, or a nearby hotel's bar might also be a good option. I'm going to search around, make decisions, and then put up an event page by the weekend. (Suggestions for a venue are welcome!)
