Just wanted to say I’m enjoying all of the world building and snippets from AEIWAM - it’s clear how much fun you’re having and how much though you put into it. I’ve started rereading bleach because of that, though I always wind up stopping after the rescue rukia arc 😅. Maybe I’ll make it past that this time.
Eh, I gave up after My Blorbo was killed off in deeply narratively unsatisfying fashion, so you're not alone. Anyway, have some More AEIWAM Worldbulding Nonsense:
---
The Kuchiki-Yamada-11th Division Fucktangle
-
It started with Chigiri Shijima.
The first captain of the 4th Division, part of the original Dirty Dozen Yamamoto hired off of Death Row to fight the first Quincy Invasion, was an unassuming and chronically fatigued looking woman* with a profound sense of curiosity about the limits of The Flesh:
Tumblr media
(from Kubo's sketches of the original 13) *Chigiri might be male in canon. I don't care
She became fast friends with the young Yachiru Unohana, who shared her fascination with the limits of the flesh, though from the opposite direction. Chigiri was the first person to show Unohana how to channel her Reiatsu to prefrom Kaido, and let her sit in on /Hold people's ribcages open during /do some of the surgical cuts for Chigiri's Field Surgery sessions, much to the horror of everyone else involved.
After the War, when the Captains had to shape up from a gang of mercenaries into a real governmental organization, Chigiri met and eventually married a Similarly-Sadistically-Curious young Dentist named Fumihiro Yamada. Longtime friend and frequent visitor to the hospital Unohana attended the 100-day ceremony of their first and subsequent six children, the start of a grand tradition- Unohana, under one name or another, has been present at the Okuizome of every Yamada born for the last millennium, and delivered most of them for the last 800-odd years.
The Yamadas are one of the most prolific Shinigami families, producing more Shinigami by percentage than any other clan, and have served in all divisions of the court Guard. Eighth Division Fifth Seat Suichi Yamada is the current highest ranked Yamada, but there have been four Captains Yamada. There's also a Seated Yamada in the third divison, and another in the 12th (though there's a popular rumor that 15th Seat Tosako Yamada isn't part of the 12th so much as a Spy to keep the 4th abreast of any important developments in medical science, rather than deal with Mayuri directly).
It is little wonder then that, despite the lack of noble standing, the Yamadas are one of the most highly regarded families in the Seireitei, and even less of a wonder that, every time the gene pool starts to get a little shallow, that the Noble Houses start looking at the latest generation for potential spouses.
The Kuchiki Clan in particular has intermarried heavily with the Yamadas, to the point that Byakuya Kuchiki is actually fourth-cousins to the infamous Former Fourth Division Lieutenant and Current Head of the Private Central Medical Institute in the Noble Quarter, Seinosuke Yamada:
Tumblr media
(Description: A cool and handsome if somewhat menacing Wizard)
...and his less-famous younger brother, current 4th Division 7th seat Hanataro Yamada.
Tumblr media
(Description: the most bully-able looking dweeb you've ever seen)
Due to the way the Kuchikis keep marrying daughters they won't legitimize for some goddamn reason to Yamada Sons, there's an argument to be made that the Kuchiki Clan is a Branch Clan of the Yamadas...
In fact, until Rukia was adopted into the Kuchiki Clan, if something had happened to Byakuya, Seinosuke was Byakuya's closest living relative in their generation and a reasonable argument could be made that he was the Hier-Apparent.
This, of course, would not do.
The thing is, Hanataro's shy and gentle demeanor is very unusual for a Yamada. The whole clan has a reputation for being Manic Sociopaths with dubious ethics and a tendency towards sadism. They make excellently competent officers, but not exactly 'friendly', like a terrible hybrid of a Border Collie and Cane Corso. Seinosuke himself is known to take great pleasure in bringing back patients that are actively begging for death.
There is a persistent rumor that this infamous disposition is at least partially due to the influence of Captain Unohana, who has been an active member of the Yamada household for the last millennium, presumably so they're very acclimated to her nonsense by the time she starts recruiting the prize ones for the 4th. She's delivered most of them and officiated the marriages of more than a few, and given the woman's patience in cultivating the Seireitei's Most Magnificent Flower and Vegetable Garden, it's suspected she's been cultivating the Yamada line as well.
Seinosuke was her lieutenant before the current Isane Koetetsu, and the bond between them was almost legendary. They would frequently not actually bother to finish sentences around each other, or communicate entirely by gesture because they were so familiar.
---
It was little wonder then, when Seinosuke's little brother also joined the 4th Division, though it wasn't exactly happily received news. People get jealous and see favoritism where there is none- Hanataro had entered the 4th on his own merits, and actually against his brother's recommendation.
Hanataro also had the strange fortune of entering the 4th the same week as the Tragic West 66 Incident in which several captains, lieutenants and nearly all of the 9th division's seated officers were killed by the machinations of (as was believed at the time) former captains Urahara, Shihouin and the head of the Kido Corps.
Three days after that, 11th Division Captain Kenpachi Kiganjo was struck down in a duel, and infamous barbarian Kenpachi Zaraki took over the 11th.
... So the day afterwards, when the lower officer in charge of assigning jobs to trainee medics saw that apparently this Zaraki bastard needed a complete medical checkup and every vaccine ever, he thought 'Well, let's see if Little Hanataro really did get in on his own merits. He's A Yamada after all, this should be a piece of cake for him-'
-and sent first-day-on-the-job Hanataro to the famously hostile 11th Division on his own.
---
"Um, Excuse me, Mister- I mean, Captain Zaraki?" Hanataro mumbled peering in the door of the captain's room at the nest of pillows and blankets that might contain his charge.
The 11th was deserted- not really a surprise, given the heavy casualties the 11th had suffered the week before. In fact, all 20 of the surviving members of the 11th were still recovering at the 4th, and Hanataro had wandered around looking for someone for a solid half hour until a little girl with neon pink hair had playfully tackled him to the ground and then, giggling, shown him to the Captain.
"KEEEEEEN-CHAAAAAAAN!!!" Miss Yachiru shouted, leaping into the nest and tackling her adopted guardian with similar glee. "Re-Chan sent one of her guys here for something!"
There was a low rattling noise of irritation that reminded Hanataro eerily of the family's temperamental rooster, but much, much larger. The nest of fabric shifted, arching up into an alarmingly tall shape, Yachiru balancing on top and scolding it for sleeping in so late, he's probably very busy-
A lithe but powerful arm longer than Hanataro was tall suddenly lurched out from the nest and slammed on the floor in front of where he was sitting, swinging the entire torso of 11th division captain Kenpachi Zaraki around and bringing Hanataro eye-to-fearsome-yellow-eye with the giant.
"...the fuck're you?" Zaraki grunted, blinking slowly at Hanataro, not entirely awake yet.
"I- I- I'm-" Hanataro sputtered, struggling to introduce himself when he noticed something peculiar- an extra bit of translucent flesh behind Zaraki's eyelids, sliding sideways across his eye to behind his tear duct- "- I'm sorry, do you have Nictitating Membranes??" Hanataro gaped.
Zaraki glared blankly at him for a moment, before breaking into a slow grin and, very slowly closed the pearly membrane over his eye and opened it again to Hanataro's slack-jawed astonishment.
"WHAT THE FUCK THAT'S SO COOL I'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF HUMANS HAVING THOSE DO YOU KNOW IF IT'S GENETIC OR-" Hanataro yelped with excitement, jumping to his feet and grabbing the captain's head and staring at his eye, nose pressed to Zaraki's cheekbone for a moment before abruptly remembering where he was and letting go, dropping into a bow hard enough to audibly bonk his head on the floor. "I'msosorrysirpleaseforgivemeidon'twanttodie-"
He was interrupted by Zaraki's loud cackle of amusement and the sensation of being lifted. Zaraki was sitting- well, had extracted his gangly limbs from his nest and arranged them into a pile mostly in contact with the floor- and picked up Hanataro by the collar of his Shihakusho and set him back up on his feet. His cackle trailed off into amused clicking and he sat back, regarding the tiny medic with a peculiar sense of favor.
"Good catch Mr. Sorry." he teased, Yachiru climbing onto his right shoulder. "Dunno who my father was, but my Mom an' Sisters 're Eagles and they got 'em too."
"...Eagles?" Hanataro blinked, cocking his head sideways with confusion. "Like. Birds?"
"Kami, technically, but yeh." Zaraki shrugged, rolling his neck and stretching, still waking up. "So who're you or am I gonna be calling you Mr. Sorry forever?"
"Ohhh... That- well that doesn't exactly explain things but I think I get how- uh, sorry, I'm- I'm not sorry, I'm Hanataro Yamada from the 4th Division!" He yelped, staggering back on topic. "Captain Unohana said you needed an intake medical exam and vaccinations?"
"Yeah probably." Zaraki shugged, scratching at his neck. "Yachiru too- Tired to get as many of 'em in her as I could afford but you know how it is out in the sticks."
"Hm." Nodded Hanataro, who did not. "Um, well- If you wanted to get started, we might be able to finish up before lunch, you must be busy with a whole division to put back together-"
"Yyyyy... -nah." Zaraki yawned. "Stayed up all last night writin' letters to fill it back up and posted 'em early. No rush until I get summat back."
"Which is probably good- I don't think you've EVER gotten a shot, have you Ken-chan?" Yachiru asked, kicking her feet in the air behind his shoulder.
"...Oh." Hanataro mumbled.
-
"...Has anyone seen Yamada?" Yamada the elder enquired after Yamada the Younger, the late afternoon sun casting golden beams through the windows onto the dispatch desk of the 4th.
The incessant chatter of the nurses, medics, janitorial staff and the dispatch officer came to a sudden and extremely suspicious halt.
"It's just that he promised to meet me at the end of his shift so we could walk home together, and it's not like him to be late." Seinosuke spoke lightly, eyes casually panning over the remarkably guilty-looking faces around him.
"He- he's not back yet?" dispatch officer Hiyako Gendo gulped, eyes suddenly fixed on the clock. "I sent him out like five hours ago..."
"Sent him where?" Seinosuke asked pleasantly and the medics collectively flinched.
"Uh, to the- um-" Officer Gendo sputtered, color draining from his face.
"You haven't misplaced my brother, have you?" Seinosuke smiled with gentle menace.
"No!" Gendo yelped. "I- uh- well- the new captain needed an intake exam-!"
"...Which new captain?" Seinosuke spoke softly, looming over to the dispatch counter. "We have promoted an unprecedented SEVEN new captains this week and I would not want to waste time searching nearly two-thirds of the court guard."
"Eight, actually." one of the nurses squeaked, and Seinosuke's head swiveled to face her like an owl. "Eep! We- um, there's a new captain of the 11th division as of last night, Sir." she stammered.
Seinosuke turned back to the dispatch officer, staring down at him with the burning eyes of a wrathful god.
"Hiyako." he spoke gently, putting a hand on the dispatch officer's shoulder. "We're friends, aren't we?"
"Y- yes? Sir?" Hiyako Gendo gulped.
"Good, good- So you wouldn't do something like, I don't know, send my baby brother into the division with a history of such violent enemity with that only combat certified officers are cleared to enter it?" Seinosuke asked fingers over the pressure points of Gendo's shoulder.
"Um." Gulped Gendo.
"-Perhaps you sent him with a senior officer?" Seinosuke tried. "I can understand wanting to give him an impression of how dangerous this work can be on his first day, to make sure he really does have the guts for the 4th, but that should be done in a fashion where he is only an observer to the example of an experienced officer and not, say, totally alone without telling anyone to go check on him?"
"Well-" Gendo whimpered.
"-Because, Hiyako, and I need to emphasize this-" Seinosuke continued, fingertips digging into Gendo's shoulder. "-That there is no body in the morgue right now, because during his promotion to the office yesterday, the current Captain-Kenpachi bisected a significant amount of the sewer and municipal support systems 200 feet below the 11th whilst rendering the previous Captain-Kenpachi into a fine red paste in a single strike!"
Gendo made a strangled noise of pain.
"So please tell me that my sweet, gentle little brother with the constitution of a bowl of oatmeal is literally anywhere besides the vicinity of that monster, preferably in the company of someone with at least half a functioning braincell?" Seinosuke pleaded, leaning in close and steadily increasing the terrible pressure of his grip.
"ISentHimThereAloneOverFiveHoursAgo!" Gendo shrieked, finally flinching and grabbing at his shoulder.
Seinosuke froze, save to let go of Gendo and let him collapse out of his chair, howling in pain. Slowly, he stood up, pleasantly blank smile on his face, and turned to leave the division.
"Someone please inform Captain Unohana that I have deployed to the 11th to retrieve my brother and if there is so much as a HAIR out of place on him, Zaraki will be the shortest-serving captain in history!" He called out, re-tying his Zanpakuto on his belt before vanishing in a burst of Shun-po.
"-Was that you, Seinosuke?" Unohana called from her office down the hall.
-
"-Well, most venom isn't a single chemical but dozens, if not hundreds of compounds with complex interactions so any samples have to be refined down to the individual components and tested both singularly and with the others which can take ages but it's yielded some incredibly effective drugs so far!" Hanatarou babbled excitedly, drawing a grid on Zaraki's thigh, oblivious to Yachiru putting his hair in pigtails.
"My goodness! We certainly have come a long way from using bee stings on arthritis!" Yumichika laughed. Zaraki's self-appointed third seat lounged against the wall near the door, enthralled by the process. His mothers had been something between field medics and hedge witches out in the far western districts and was keeping pace with Hanataro's enthusiastic infodumping about venomics while he prepared the captain for the next round of vaccinations.
"Not that far- your beestings were one of the earliest things we tested for pharmaceutical application, and it turned out that the entire combination of bioreactive compounds in the amounts found in an individual sting was the most effective dosage! More sanitary to use a needle than an actual bee though. Speaking of-" Hanataro turned to Zaraki. "Are you sure you want to do ALL of these today? Unless you're planning on messing around in the sewers, your chances of catching any of these are extremely low, so we can stagger them."
"If I'm gonna feel like crap tomorrow anyway, might as well feel like crap once and be able to fuck around in the sewers if needed." Zaraki shrugged. "-Why are the doctors in charge of that anyway? You've got better shit to do?"
"Ah, well-" Hanataro sighed, capping the marker and getting the next round of vaccines in order. "-Civic maintenance *used* to be part of the security duties of the 11th but... well, after we lost Kenpachi Tokagero down there, your predecessors... never resumed their duties? So it's kind of fallen to us since, but to be honest, the previous guy wasn't exactly someone I'd trust to maintain the necessary standards..."
"Yeah, no shit." Scoffed newly-appointed lieutenant Ikkaku, who was attempting to sort through the literal heap of paperwork Kiganjo had thrown into the corner instead of filling out.
"No I think the shit is supposed to be in the sewers." Zaraki grinned and Ikkaku responded with a single-finger salute.
"Right- lets try to not bend any more needles, okay?" Hanataro smiled, preparing the first syringe.
"Yeah, yeah-" Zaraki rolled his eyes, but obediently inhaled and exhaled, focusing on the square Hanataro was touching. Reiatsu manipulation didn't come naturally to him and it had taken a couple dozen broken needles to work out a technique that allowed Hanataro to actually stick him.
Hanataro focused, feeling the pressure drop with the hand on Zaraki's thigh, focusing his own energy into the tip of the needle with the other, until the difference flipped and-
"Ssk!"" Zaraki hissed a bit as Hanatarou slammed the needle into his leg with the force of a sword strike, but that's what it took. "Yer gettin better- that one stung a bit!"
"Sorry!" Hanataro squeaked, withdrawing the intact needle and changing it over to the next syringe.
"Keep at it and you might be able to really hurt me in fifty years!" Zaraki laughed, ruffling his hair.
"Okay, next is for Orange Fever- this one is famous for burning after injection but we'll see-" Hanataro started then looked up at the feeling of someone's absolutely furious reiatsu approaching at speed.
"Someone coming? You all put yer heads up like bird dogs." Zaraki chuffed.
"I think someone's come to-" Yumichika started but the door beside him slammed open and they were all greeted with the terrible sight of the most feared man in the fourth, wild-eyed and teeth bared, utterly consumed with rage-
"Hi Seinosuke!" beamed Hanataro, entirely used to what his brother looked like after a long day at work or being woken up suddenly. "What are you doing here?"
-
"Hanataro?" Seinosuke yelped, startled by the entirely peaceful and almost domestic scene before him. Zaraki seemed to be politely interested in the vaccination process, the menace that had been at the lieutenants meeting yesterday was sitting in the middle of the 11th's paperwork with a senbei cracker hanging out of his mouth, and Hanataro was getting pink bows tied into his hair by Miss Kusajishi. The remains of afternoon tea were on the table behind him.
"That's him! Who are you?" a third, effeminate man asked from beside the door with a faint prickle of reiatsu, politely reminding Seinosuke to mind his manners in someone else's house.
"This is my older brother Seinosuke!" Hanataro cheerfully explained, reflexively capping the syringe he was holding. "Not that I'm not glad to see you but- OH NO IT'S ALMOST DINNERTIME!"
"It's fine, it's fine." Seinosuke wheezed with relief. "It's my obligation as the oldest to be a worrywart."
"Tch- No point in worrying for this one." Zaraki teased, poking Hanataro in the shoulder. "-We should all be worried about him! He's only gone and stabbed me thirty-two times and I haven't landed even one blow on him!"
"Sir..." Hanataro groaned at the joke.
"Thirty-two?" Seinosuke blinked.
"Could only afford shots fer the kid, so I need all of 'em." Zaraki shrugged. "Not that I was makin' it easy for 'im."
"Um, yeah..." Hanataro hummed. "There's some technique for giving someone with extreme positive spiritual pressure shots that I don't know, right?"
"You? Ask them to lower it?" Seinosuke stared, beginning to wilt as the adrenaline drained out of him.
"Yeah, I... kinda suck at that." Zaraki grunted, looking away from them, right eye shut despite the left one being scarred. "Might as well keep Stabbin'?"
"What's with your eye?" Seinosuke frowned, veteran of spotting unspoken injuries.
"Oh yeah! Check them out- He's got Nictitaing Membranes!" Hanataro beamed.
"He WHAT?" ---
Four hours after that, the Yamada brothers set out for home, Seinosuke with the beginnings of a fascinating new study on Kami-Induced Occular Mutations and Hanataro with a promotion to 'pocket medic' that he wouldn't find out about until Zaraki abducted him from his rounds for 11th division boot camp some four months later.

some hanas. maybe even some zawas.
design notes under cut i like talking about my terrible choices
very much Not noticable but i wanted to emphasize his lashes closing in his. like. post-meeting mob design
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like his eyes after meeting mob kinda. idk if i drew it well but his eyes r less sly and more cheerful BUT theyre squinted more so he sees less. does that make sense. i really lean heavily into my teru rose tinted lenses metaphor but come on man. like i tried to make him look "happier." "nicer" but in reality nothing really changed other than he can't. see. he can't see.
oh wait also i ve hced this for a while but i always thought the idea of his wig still being on his head after 7thdiv arc because his hair hasnt fully grown back was funny. so in his post 7th division design for me at least hes got like. two stripes down his temples where his hair was left after he got shaved. lol
ALSO I KNOW I DREW HIM BEFORE WIT LIKE LIGHT SKIN. but 1) i kind of hate shading light skin its a fucking nightmare. 2) all the cool designs with teru had darker skin. 3) i wasnt confident in my ability to emphasize the contrast of his design. but i think i did decently. i HOPE i did. teru i love you i hate you i want to bash your head in with a rock
also the? earring wasnt erally a particularly important design choice i just thought it looked nice and matched tha three buttons on his school uniform. upon further thought i think it would be cool if his earring got ripped off during his fight with mob & left a scar... permanent reminder. hair grows back, chunks of flesh dont!!!!!!
also this design was majorly inspo'd by @ / unnbatteryacidd , @ / sallymew4 , @ / bugcatcherkit and @ / nothingbizzare if they were not obvious .

something i've noticed in my obsession with ritsu kageyama is that he underestimates people a lot
i think the first example of this is in episode 8, and it's absolutely littered throughout the rest of season 1. it starts with koyama, and the way ritsu says, "that guy is finished—it's over," when shigeo reaches 100%. while he Does have good reason to believe this, and so does the audience, koyama still manages to "win" by pulling a trump card that completely negates anything shigeo would be able to throw at him
when he's locked up with the awakening lab kids, his first idea is to act like he and the others don't have powers at all, which Wildly underestimates claw's communication between members. ritsu was literally noted to be an above-average esper, and "special treatment" was suggested for him. the fact that he even thought that would work at all suggests he either thinks they're incompetent (which, since all he's seen from claw is koyama so far and koyama can pack a fucking punch, is a little silly) or he's panicking and clinging to desperate, sloppy plans. it also kinda reminds you he's Literally Thirteen. god . he'sso small
also, the fact that ritsu doesn't even remember the awakening lab's kids names is another example of this—he deemed them "unimportant" during his arc, and continued to think this for a good while (i'd say he even holds onto some of those views well past the show's runtime, if his little comments about the twin's telepathy in the transmission arc is anything to go by) (also also, that <- deserves a post all on its own bc the fact that he meets another pair of siblings with esper abilities and sees that it's brought them closer instead of torn them apart . wow that makes me ill)
reminder that he listens to one of the kids "get killed" in another room and then watches a claw member drag the kid back out and throw his bloody, lifeless form to the floor. This Happens To Him. he watches this go down, and then he Continues to misjudge them. his little comment about the claw lackies "underestimating them because we're kids" is a bit funny to me now, given this entire post
he does it to shou immediately. he doesn't see a scar on him, so he immediately assumes he's lower tier and about as strong as the lackies. even after shou stomps and cracks the fucking hallway in half, ritsu walks right up to him and doesn't seem threatened. i doubt he's trivializing this situation just bc shou is a kid—that just wouldn't make sense from ritsu's perspective on things
he's already seen the biggest baddest esper in town—he lives with the guy. he knows the strongest esper is his own brother, so his view on other people's powers are very skewed. ritsu is so caught up in his trauma that he thinks shigeo is unbeatable, and i think part of that is because he was so young when The Incident occurred. anything scary that happens to you at that age is going to seem insurmountable to you, if you've never tried to overcome that fear. ritsu fully believes ???% is completely invulnerable (and yes, that's largely true) but he seems to carry that idea over to shigeo as a whole
maybe dimple's comment about ritsu being able to reach shigeo's level got more into his head than i originally thought it did—he "knows" he's at least close enough to shigeo to eventually surpass him, and since he puts shigeo's powers on a pedestal built with shaking hands, he thinks, hey, i must be pretty close to that. i must be pretty invincible too
he tends to mentally call fights finished before he's seen everything his opponent can do. ritsu straight up responds "i don't believe that," to shou's little you can't defeat me, and he's seen basically nothing in shou's arsenal
to his credit, once all the scars show up, he shuts his mouth and admits he's no match. and i think after the 7th division arc, he stops brushing people's abilities aside so much
this is why the shimazaki fight is so important for his character.
he fights him even though he Knows he'll lose. the shimazaki fight is Not ritsu underestimating him—previously, he's lost battle after battle because he truly and fully thought he'd win. he does not think he'll win this, and he's doing it purely to distract shimazaki from shou's position
ritsu kageyama is 1000% ride or die, especially when it comes to his own beliefs and trauma. i think if shou's situation wasn't as similar to ritsu's as it rly was, ritsu wouldn't have tried so hard to help him. ritsu risks his life to give this kid just a few extra minutes to deal with his father, and the way he enters the fight speaks pretty highly of how much he Wasn't underestimating him
he enters the fight by blinding shimazaki, by pulling a trick from his pocket underhandedly, and even though it obviously doesn't work, it shows that ritsu believes he'll need to do more than just use his powers like he normally does. i believe this is the first time he fights this way as well, with this covert trickery that uses his environment to his advantage—he keeps doing it throughout the fight; throwing cars, dislodging rocks to collapse ceilings. he's truly trying to think outside of the box because he entered this fight with the knowledge that he'll likely lose, and he needs more than just Himself to stay alive
but enough about ritsu underestimating claw, or awakening lab kids. i think the person he underestimates most of all is his own brother.
maybe i'm stretching the definition of "underestimate"—maybe there's a better word for it that i can't think of right now—but the way ritsu seems to think that shigeo will snap at the slightest issue in his life is... well. it's a little,,, patronizing, isn't it? he doesn't seem to have faith in shigeo's ability to keep a cool head, and even though he knows for sure that shigeo is Powerful (and even, sometimes overestimates that aspect of him) i think he tends to undermine his control over that power, tends to believe he'll blow up and scarcely doubting that assumption. he grew up like that, constantly in fear of his brother unleashing that "monster" again, and that in and of itself is an example of ritsu not having enough faith in his brother
when he sees onigawara talking to shigeo loudly in the hallway, ritsu sees how nervous shigeo is and narrows his eyes, like he senses something building in him. when reigen gets slashed during the 7th division arc, the fear in ritsu's gaze is not directed to reigen's "killer," it is directed to his brother, in fear of an oncoming explosion. and i Would say he gets better at this, but even at the tail end of s3, at the beginning of confession arc, ritsu fully believes (until he sees the car that hit shigeo, i think) that ???% came around because tsubomi rejected him. he thinks his brother would react so negatively to that, that other side of him would come out to wreak havoc.
when mob Does actually ask tsubomi out, he just cries when he's rejected. he reacts like every other teenage boy reacts, by quietly crying to himself. it's a very normal thing—after the absurdity and the sheer vastness of power and destruction the audience was just put through, mob walking away and crying quietly about being rejecting by a love interest is the first taste of normalcy we've had in like three episodes. what ritsu thought would spark this is actually the thing that calls the story and the audience back to a place that is solid and grounded
i'm not saying ritsu is a bad brother—that is so so SO far from my point—i'm saying that he's young and he's full of multitudes, and that includes mistakes. and that is Refreshing
this little guy is So full of faults, and it's one of the many things i love about him. he's a character that's practically built upon flaws with "good traits" as an afterthought, instead of the other way around, and the fact that he's been written like that, but introduced to be the polite, honor student, supportive, younger brother type is So Fuckin Cool!
it compliments his arc perfectly, because the reason big cleanup arc starts is because he's tired of being all that. he's tired. i never stop thinking about his maybe i wanted to find out what it would feel like to be a fool, it's Such a good line, and even if his reasonings for big cleanup arc seem nonsensical to some, i think it makes perfect sense in this odd, fucked up way. he literally Says it, right there. he explains everything in those few lines during that rooftop scI'M GETTING OFF-TOPIC
ritsu is a good character and his numerous flaws are what make him interesting to me. if he stayed that polite, honor student, supportive, younger brother type, i probably wouldn't give a shit about him. he is interesting Because he's made some pretty bad choices, Because he's made some pretty disgusting assumptions. he's a kid, fumbling along, with trauma dragging him by the wrists. i could talk about him for hours

I just really want to see the stage plays version of season 2, man. Can you imagine that? Can you see the vision?
I'm predictable, but I'm particularly intrigued by what they did for season 1 with Reigen and Shou. They know each other now. Reigen was worried about him during the 7th division arc. Shou begrudgingly respects him. I'm going mildly insane about the implications of this.
Just... that one moment with Reigen going after Mob and pointing a gun at Toichiro. Shou is there too!!! This kid he now knows and cares a little bit about is there all beaten up and holy fucking shit, I just. need to know what they would do with that!!!

something about. being a kid and learning for the first time that the adults in your life aren’t infallible. that they can’t protect you all the time. something about reigen showing up during the 7th division arc and protecting mob through impossible odds anyway.

7th Division Arc- Kokomi Reigen AU
Orignally, this was gonna be about the Teru's but then I realized that Teruki doesn't really interact much with Reigen
Ah, the Teru's. The reason I have to use both of these fucks full or first names when referring to them. To make this less annoying for me, I'm referring to Teruhashi as Kokomi and Teruki as Teru.
Kokomi meets Teru during the 7th division arc. Kokomi, in the time that since she had been hired, was extremely attached to her coworkers, and when Reigen tracked down Mob's location, she went with him. Despite Reigen's numerous protests that it might not be safe, Kokomi refused to budge and went with him anyways.
The whole claw confusing Reigen for their boss goes even better for two main reasons
Kokomi's natural glow, beauty and aura made it seem like she was a powerful psychic who was willingly listening to their random guy
Over month or two that she's been at Spirits and Stuff Consultation Office, and the weeks she's spent mainly around Reigen, she managed to hone one skill. The skill of 'Yes and'ing
So they see this powerful young psychic being like 'What? They really can't tell who you are' and were like 'Holy shit, this must be the boss and one of his right hands'.
(Reigen did not realize they were mistaking him for the boss. Kokomi absolutely did and had a field day with it.)
She meets them very briefly before they're attacked again and for the first time in her life, she's put in danger. Not the kind of danger that her brother brings but the kind that brings death or severe harm.
Unfortunately, Claw's upper echelon have no qualms about attempting to attack her alongside the rest of the cast. Half of them believe she's psychic and are enraged at her for taking 'the other side' and 'making herself look prettier while the rest of us suffered in society'. The other half think she's not psychic but are angry that someone so pretty exists in a sense.
(Remember, these people think society wronged them by existing and that they're above it. They're not happy to see someone 'normal' who has abnormal traits, Kokomi's beauty, that make her almost on the same level as them)
(It's kinda like incels to put it simply)
Luckily, Mob and Reigen make sure to protect her and Reigen ends up saving the day.
The arc ends with Kokomi realizing that her beauty doesn't necessarily mean she's unable to be hurt. The cosplayers psychics in Claw clearly thought she was beautiful but their own delusions made it so that they believed they were fully entitled to harm her. It also makes her think about her own morals and what it'd be like if she let her beauty go to her head like that.
She ends up asking Reigen if she's a good person. He tells her that if she has these types of doubts, she's already doing better than the Claw fucks.
He also tells her that he knows it takes effort for her to be kind to other sometimes, but she puts that effort in constantly. So yeah. He'd consider her a good person.

My first attempt at drawing Ekubo. Of course, it had to be him possessing Yoshioka during the 7th Division arc. 😵‍💫 It's crazy to think it's been over a year!

Once again i did notes (for my fics) instead of working on the very important work i have to do but this time its ok because i meant to take off today and rest anyway.
and besides i did something i had always wanted to do since fricken 2019!
I DID A POWER SCALE FOR THE MP100 ESPERS!!!
As you can see im still missing the 7th division claw members and the awakening lab kids (and others) buts its ok because i did the most important ones!
(also those missing are all around the same level anyway)
As i watched mp100 I ve always classified the espers in 5 categories(excluding mobs own) depending of their abilities in my mind which i put on the side and also they way i understand their powers (aka telepaths/seers/spiritists behaving differently)
(or at least the way i see all of this)
i included notes explainning why i put them the way i did (good luck understanding them) and even how their powers grew during the story!
even thought ive had this cale in my mind for years i never realized how much ritsu grows in it! (even though i did him so dirty lmao)
i made this mostly as a handy reference for myself but if you want to use it feel free to do it (ñ
or to askme if you are curious about anything!
... Except why Teru and Shou got extra lines... I don't even know it myself I just know they make sense
(I think besides their first appearance im also marking their status as of the world dominatiom arc and at the end of the story (dotted lines are the leaves they reach when pushed to their limits... Not recommended))
dunno when ill get to finish this but when i do it ill update it here or maybe in another post and link it... who knows
Edit: although I named the zone "can copy others special techniques" it doesn't necessarily has to be copied.
That zone actually is "can use more than 1 specialized technique".
I put "copy" because I believe each techquine is innate to some psychic somewhere and while yeah you could come up with a technique on your own different than the one you already have I think it's easier to do it once you see someone else doing it. Aka easier to copy techniques than to create them yourselves.
Copying techniques isn't that easy either (remember the scale is exponential) which is why Teru being able to do it on the spot is so remarkable and says a lot about his level of power.

POKEMOB!!!! ive been thinking abt this nonstop for like, weeks. check it out, though! lots of little guys! reigen's special move where he chucks his nacli at the foe as hard as possible! teru's furfrou's matching wig! other stuff! this post has 18 images
@skypiea helped SO much with pokemon choices for this also!
see under the cut for full teams and further explanation!!! please check it out
mob - ralts & espurr. later, silvally. mob isn't a trainer, and his pokemon don't fight. they're just little guys. type:null was originally toichiro's (who used various pokemon alongside the human claw grunts), mob met it in aftermath of the divine tree once everything in the domination arc was over. (it still doesn't battle or anything. big fancy lapdog full of love.)
ritsu - unovan braviary, bisharp, and alakazam. going along with his student council status & top-of-the-line grades, ritsu's a skilled trainer with some powerful pokemon. braviary and bisharp were his most used pokemon early on- they're sort of representative of his student council thing (note braviary's unobtainable psychic type form)- but abra was his first pokemon, a counterpart to mob's ralts. it only evolved first during ritsu and the esper kids' attempted escape of the 7th division claw building.
reigen - murkrow, greavard, thievul, and nacli. reigen's not a trainer, his pokemon are both pets and assist him with work. with the exception of nacli, dark and ghost types are his specialty (psychic-adjacent types, but Not actual psychic types). his murkrow imitates him constantly. greavard is uu-chan, of course, but this time he doesn't get eaten by dimple (uu-chan is still feeding on reigen's soul). one of nacli's possible abilities in the games is "purifying salt", which cuts damage from ghost moves. reigen's nacli, of course, has sturdy. and to quote kite, re: thievul: "Reigen: would an untrustworthy guy have THIS [sends out the thief pokemon]"
teru - furfrou (shiny), zoroark (maybe shiny i cant decide. burple), and togepi (later togekiss). before his encounter with mob in season 1, teru didn't actually use his pokemon in battle often- they're rare, flashy, and/or powerful, but they were lackeys and status symbols just as much as his underlings at black vinegar were. his relationship with his pokemon improved after he started to work on his humility, leading to the evolution of his togepi.
shou - morpeko, latias, and (mega) blaziken. he's a super tough trainer, and he cares about his pokemon So much. he rides his latias like she's a surfboard
serizawa - swoobat & bewear. serizawa didn't really have pokemon growing up after his self-imposed isolation- the stufful he had as a kid was taken care of by his mother once that happened. he met his woobat a while after joining claw, and it evolved sometime after the world domination arc. bewear isn't entirely his- but after the world domination arc, he reconnected with it and takes care of it some of the time. the rest of the time it's serimama's gigantic housebear
tome - two (later three which become a single magneton) magnemite, orbeetle, eventually elgyem. i think magnemite just fits her vibes... plus it's a bit ufo-y, innit. she HAD to have a bug, and i mean..look at orbeetle's gmax form! and it has the telepathy ability! unfortunately, despite her best efforts, orbeetle's telepathy ability hasn't proved useful for finding human telepaths. she caught elgyem on new years, on the way back down to the car. tome can hold her own in battle, but training for battle isn't something she's focused on.
dimple - is a yamask! his big powerful form is cofagrigus, obvs. his mask is usually blank save for the cheek spots, since he has no memory of his life as a human. the mask does change to fit the (LOL) and psycho helmet cult as well. he places his mask on someone's face to possess them like any other yamask, to others it just appears as the regular red cheeks, but to folks who can see spirits they see the mask. when possessing someone, his expressions will show on the mask as well.
whew, i think that's everything i wanted to talk about. thanks for reading!

I know he isn’t really discussed in the fandom outside of the Detestable Anime Design(which I absolutely get, it’s SO bad), but man, Takeuchi is a character I’m still so intrigued by. In particular I really like the concept of the whole “face changes when powers are activated” thing, especially knowing that psychic powers are never really just in Mob Psycho. What they are, how they’re used, a lot of times they end up reflecting a bigger picture.
We don’t really see any powers that affect a person’s physical appearance that drastically(according to the fanbook, even Takeuchi’s height/weight changes), and it only really happens for him and Toichiro at the end of his fight with Mob. There’s Shibata and Udo’s muscle abilities, sure, but those strike me as more of a purposeful use of their powers, not an unconscious effect.
Faces are important things—a way to express your feelings outside of words, and something people often remember you by. Ishiguro says he can’t get a read on Takeuchi, but he’s powerful—so it probably doesn’t really matter to him. Takeuchi joins Teru & co against a group of Scars during WD arc, and as shown in this one omake they don’t even recognize his normal face(despite previously recognizing Terada). One of the Scars basically goes “Oh, I thought this might’ve been this one really powerful guy in the 7th division, but this can’t be him.”, Takeuchi activates his ability to show them otherwise and that’s that.
Despite Claw’s indoctrination the other 7th division Scars still kept their quirks, their stories, their interpersonal relationships, but Takeuchi—it seems like he’s always known by his powers first. The face crafted by them is the only one so many others have cared to remember. And he’s only 21, one of the youngest out of the Scars(save for Mukai of course)—I have to wonder how long he’s lived in that sort of isolation. All the Scars had the mindset that their powers gave them worth, set them apart, but I think Takeuchi takes it a step further and sees himself as just a vessel for his powers. When all of that got shattered, I’m curious how he worked through that fallout.

Shikai
Hikari No Nikko is a Zanpakuto that releases into a bow. From there, Harui can ultilize the particles into the air and turn them into light arrows to send at her opponents.
This makes her more open for attacks.
She is also able to channel arrows around her more during the Fake Karakura Town arc
Harui actually ultilizes her healing abilities in her arrows as well. In TYBW, shooting an arrow off can heal her allies well
TYBW: She is able to fire arrows mixed with Ceros. It’s helpful during the second invasion

Cero Color: Yellow
MORE INFORMATION
Harui was born in the Sereitei. She was the daughter of the Former 4th Division Lieutenant: Haruka Yuki. She spent her early years in the Sereitei.
She played with a girl name Miki Akawa often.
She and Miki were among the victims of Aizen’s Hollowification experiments. Miki died during the experimentation but Harui’s Hollow was sealed by her mother before Harui’s mother was killed by a Hollowified Harui.
Harui had no memory of what happened. None at all. She was only told that her mother was killed in action.
Harui spent her time in the Gotei 13 in the 7th Division. She is highly respectful of Sajin Komamura and looks up to him.
Harui had discovered that she had healing abilities when she was at the academy. As she developed them more, she decided that she wanted to become both a healer and a fighter on the battlefield. When Sajin heard of this, he recommended Harui to the fourth division, believing she could sharpen her skills there.
Harui grew to be a good healer, and rose to be fourth seat of the fourth division
Her seal finally breaks in the Arrancar Arc when Grimmjow shows up with his fraccion. That is when she joins the Vizards

okay i don’t see this get talked about nearly enough. the fact that in season 2, reigens office building burns to the ground. at the moment, while worrying, isn’t too out of place seeing as how it was taking place during the WD arc. Mobs house was also burned down, Teru’s was blown up. we can only imagine what happened to the others. We assume Reigen’s office was burned down for the same reason, that they were being pursued by Claw as revenge for taking down the 7th division.
Until it’s revealed that it isn’t. Reigens office burned down because a mouse chewed through a few wires. Claw didn’t go after Reigen. A mouse just had the great idea to go on a suicide mission at the time that the others were also being targeted. They didn’t go after Reigen. Why is that funny to me

if i get a good response here i'll probably host it. maybe not for a little bit yet bc people are going back to school and there's already been like so many fandom weeks lately i think we need a break lol
but essentially it'd be a week to pay tribute to the antagonists of the series like the 7th division, mogami, claw, teru and ritsu during their joker arcs, etc
