A Case of You by @epitomereally

Happy (belated) Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day! For FFWAD, Renegade Bindery runs an event where we bind copies of fics for their authors and I was super excited to be able to bind this for a fellow bookbinder!

I'm rather new to the Drarry fandom but @epitomereally has been absolutely wonderful in providing fic recs and bookbinding advice. She is so so kind and I have enjoyed seeing the lovely books she has created for fellow authors, and somewhere along the way I hatched a sekret plan to bind a copy of her fic for her.

Some stats as usual:

I had really wanted to do a design on the spine (both of us like doing some spine stitching as a design feature), so i really wanted to be able to put it in a bind for her. also my near obsessive fixation with spine stitching worked out in my favour because i settled on a constellation design and ran with it. the design on the spine is stitched with gold linen thread, and accented by some designs done in heat reactive foil.

for bookcloth, I settled fairly quickly on night sky blue so colibri elder made an appearance. I had a little trouble with colour matching for the endpapers with the endbands (i should have probably done pink instead of purple), but I still like the relative cohesiveness of the look of this book. Endpapers are Crepaldi, i am absolutely shameless about my stash.

I also was very excited because I learnt Affinity Publisher for this book!!! Zero regrets, it looks amazing, i am a convert I will never go back to Microsoft Word goddamn. and ME AND SIDE HEADERS - i love them though the book might have benefited from larger margins. THEY'RE SO SEXY MY GOD.

hehe, i may have also sustained a flesh wound while cutting the board for this book but HEY WE ALL EVENTUALLY HAVE ONE OF THESE THINGS (WHERE WE GOTTA GO TO THE A&E BECAUSE OF A BOOKBINDING MISHAP) BEAUTY IS PAIN Y'ALL.

ULTIMATELY I'M SO GLAD THE BOOK ARRIVED SAFELY TODAY AND I'M SO HAPPY SHE LOVED THE BOOK. when you bind for another bookbinder, it's both stressful and extremely endorphin-releasing because the other bookbinder both appreciates all the design choices you make as well as knows exactly where you might have fucked up.

ultimately, making a book is a small small gift for someone who so generously wrote a novel-length epic for free and shared it with the masses for a love of fandom.

anyway, go read this fic, guys, it's so so good, and SHE JUST WROTE A NEW ONE (IT IS ALSO EXCELLENT and i am savouring it WHILE PONDERING DESIGN CHOICES HEHEHEHEH)

Marissa has even succeeded with hidden fore-edge painting - ALL HAIL OUR EDGELORD who does marbled edges and hidden fore-edge painting and has so kindly shared all her information with others for absolutely free. ❤️‍🔥

22 Sep, MIN @ BOS, 3-9, win, Game 2 of doubleheader

There was a lot to like about that final game on Sunday. I mean, sweeping a double-header is always delightful. There's something about it that just feels like nothing can go wrong. And, to be honest, not much did go wrong in the second game yesterday. There were plenty of bright sides to enjoy.

Kutter Crawford (still his real name) went seven and two thirds giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out seven. He allowed no dingers and no walks - things just got away from him a bit in the fifth when he allowed two runs.

Romy Gonzalez saved the day in the fifth by responding to the Twins two runs by hitting a three-run dinger, putting the Sox in the lead which they kept for the rest of the game (it hasn't happened much of late so to say I'm delighted is an understatement). Romy also has a great moustache.

Ceddanne Rafaela went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

Masa Yoshida scored a run and knocked in a run and took a walk and didn't strike out.

Enmanuel Valdez went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Jarren Duran knocked in a couple of runs and scored a couple of runs. He took a walk as well, which allowed him to score one of those runs.

Connor Wong knocked in a run.

We were 5-for-8 with RISP.

We're back at .500.

We're four games back in the Wild Card with 6 games to go. Nothing is impossible until it's just not possible anymore.

Please keep me out of your drama. I don’t engage in callout culture, and I don’t care for petty disputes. Your beef with someone is not my beef. I also don’t care for vagueblogging.

As this blog WILL contain triggering topics such as drug usage, violence, etc, I expect my partners/mutuals to be adults as well. As such, I want to limit my interactions to those who are 21+.

I am mutuals only. This means I’d like for us to be following each other before I interact. It keeps my dash clean, and it makes it easier for me to keep track of who owes what.

FORMATTING AND REPLIES

I use an RL faceclaim for some fandoms, and I have animated icons for animated fandoms. I am also more than happy to do without icons completely to make people comfortable. Just let me know!

I color code character speech! It makes it easier for me to keep track of what I replied to and whatnot. On that same note, I also use small font 100% of the time, as well as a header for each ic post. You are zero percent obligated to match me.

I can spit out lengthy replies in minutes, or I can sit on drafts for months on end. Please be patient, cause this isn’t my only blog.

SHIPPING

I am always down for shipping! All I ask is that we have prior threads, and we discuss things before hand.

I am not super interested in smut. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’m probably not the partner for you. That said, Duran is a sexual person and will reference it. If we do decide on spicy threads, I will NOT be using a read-more, nor will I make a side blog for smut. It’s all or nothing.

I love dark whumpy themes for ships. I love angst, and I love exploring trauma with a huge emphasis on dealing with/pulling through said tough times.

Extending our losing streak by dropping the first game of a double-header to a division rival wasn't my favourite way to start the week to be honest. I'm not entirely sure what's going on but we seem to be doing quite a bit of screwing the pooch at the moment. Facing a Toronto team that have not been good this year, this continuation of a game suspended months ago ended up as a pretty damp squib, in spite of both teams and the MLB wanting to make as big a deal as possible about Danny Jansen starting this game on the Blue Jays and then finishing it on the Red Sox. Which is pretty cool and all but it would have been cooler if we'd won the game. It also would have been cool if we hadn't made a couple of errors and if one of those Toronto runs wasn't unearned. Bright sides?

The Danny Jansen thing is fun. I'm not going to take that away from folks. Have a party with it.

Nick Pivetta struck out 10 in six innings, which is good. It would have been better if he'd got the win, but I do like it when he strikes out a bunch of dudes.

Jarren Duran hit a dinger.

That's about it. It's a five-game series so at least there's room for improvement.
