something i've been thinking about:

Wally is set up as a sort of "main character" by the whrp. he's said in the site's description of the show to have introduced the main theme/lesson of the day's episode, and then the rest of the neighbors join him on his escapades. but then we have our first glimpses of everyone's actual dynamics and characters through the audios and you look at Wally and its like

first of all, thats an npc. second, nearly everybody else has severe main character syndrome

but its fascinating how Wally is just kind of... There. he doesnt talk much. he doesnt contribute beyond a couple of lines. its more like he joins the others on their shenanigans. he fades into the background. he's off to the side while everyone else holds conversations & leads the moment

Wally, despite being described as Thee character, is borderline background.

& whats even more interesting, within his individual secret audio files and interactions - he's almost chatty. not only that but the way he talks is more confident and faster paced. he's taking initiative. he can be kinda pushy. when talking to the qa/whrp/Us, he acts more like the character his descriptions portray. he acts more like a person instead of a puppet waiting for his next cue

I cant tell if - when around the neighbors - his tepid milk behavior is a purposeful act or if he's masking. and if he's masking, is it deliberate or involuntary? and in regards to both, why is he acting so different? It could be tied to what he's trying to accomplish. if he's trying to "restore" Welcome Home, it would make sense for him to act as he does around the neighbors - he wouldnt want to clue them in that he knows so much more than he's letting on, would he?

but then that begs another train of thought - what if he isn't acting or masking? if there is a time discrepancy between Wally's interactions with the qa/whrp/Us & the more 'official' audios, that could explain the difference in behavior. we could be getting glimpses into "future" (read: current) Wally, who's had much more time to figure himself out since we can safely assume he started out as a blank slate. we could be seeing a more experienced Wally than the one seen with his friends.

of course that line of thinking loses some merit when considering the 14 "bug" audios. or it could lend to it... if we're seeing a more experienced Wally but his friends are only seeing what he allows them to. it's still him, just... a carefully curated version.

in general it could really tie into the themes of identity and change and being other, to me. when you're so different - or you feel so different - that you can't bring yourself to be your most authentic you around your friends. when you feel like you have to hold back and be who you think they expect you to be, or what would be most palatable. most normal. will they accept you as you really are? there's always the fear and terror that the people you consider closest to you won't. or when you're so scared of change that you'll shove down & lock away parts of yourself so that you can keep things as you are. because once they know you've changed, so will they. and really, do you want to even accept that you've changed? what if that's what scares you most of all - that you're different, you've metamorphosized, you can't go back to the way things were because you yourself are no longer the person you were before. there is no reversing this no matter how much you try or pretend

dark justiciar shadowheart is genuinely so interesting to me as like... a facet to her character. like it really hammers home how desperate she is for shar's love and affection (+ the validation and love from other worshipers of shar). like in a lot of ways I get that it seems shocking to others / some fans because it really does contradict some of the morals we see her express BUT imo that just speaks to the level of desperation she feels. her comments on how shar "must" love her for her to survive the shadowcursed lands, or the bit where she talks about shar nurturing her and loving her and sounds... almost more like shes trying to convince herself more than shes trying to convince you. theres a bit about other sharrans not thinking she had earned her name, and of course the mother superior not thinking she was ready / worthy of being a dark justiciar. like shes just so completely desperate to feel unconditionally and securely loved, and to earn the approval of others that shes entirely willing to injure herself in the process (as well as.... the people who actually love her, of course).

not to mention that mechanically, afaik, she can only end up there if shes encouraged to by the player. ie... she needs to know someone else approves.

His name is Kyo Noruki, and tbh I haven't really fleshed out all his lore

What I do know is that

He is/was a part of the Dark Nebula throughout season 1, he was a part of it since episode 1, but I don't know his reason for joining yet, but I don't think he really cares for their goals or anything.

He got ANTI-blader spirit, he isn't evil but he simply sees beys as pieces of metal, he doesn't believe in beys being sentient or having spirits or anything, so all of his battles have a sort of empty vibe, like something's just not right, because he has no passion.

Again, he's not evil or a bad person or anything, he just never had a bond with his bey cause he sees it as a spinning top.

(lil tidbit: I hc that he doesn't call out his beys name during battles, he just calls out the moves, bc again, no bond)

Because of his anti spirit, he doesn't take many beyblade related things seriously, like L-Drago eating peoples souls, because to him, 'it's just a spinning top, it can't be that serious', and with Reiji torturing people, he just doesn't get what the big deal is, like 'yea your bey broke, just fix it later?'.

(bc of this I feel like he wouldn't be mentally affected by Reiji, like he'd lose in a fight w him but he wouldn't really gaf)

I feel like Kyo would REALLY piss Gingka off, because he has NO spirit NO passion and NO fucks to give, and his bey is suffering for it.

His arc would probably be Gingka hitting him with his fist of The bladers Spirit™ by the end of season 1, and Kyo trying to make it up to his bey and bond with it in season 2 (idk where he'd be in season 3, cuz ngl, not the biggest Fury fan).

He has his own morals and stuff, but he is more on the morally-grey side of the spectrum, like he wouldn't kill anyone or anything, but he would harm someone if he had to, it's all a means to an end for him.

I am having troubles with his bey though, because honestly I don't really know the etiquette for making up beyblades, I want him to have some kind of fox because it just fits his vibe? idk, but the only fox bey I know of is Spiral Fox, which is taken, so I'm very open to suggestions, I've been thinking about the names Flash Fox and Phantom Fox tho.

OKAY. OKAY. WINTERS FAMILY TORMENT NEXUS. as i've said before this is all REALLY vague rough outlines bc i wanted to bounce it all back n forth with u. but. what i have:

>winters family (mark & ashe & fridged mom/wife) live in a location hit by the simurgh

>mark is at work when she arrives. something horrific happens at home. maybe his wife is injured or hurt, but not killed. ashe (7/8/9) triggers. whatever his powers are, they. do Not help heal his mom. in fact the opposite.

>mark tears back home asap instead of leaving as soon as he hears her song, actively choosing to stay in her effect zone for his family. finds newly triggered baby ashe & the rest of that scene.

>theyve spent too long in the affected zone to be allowed to go free, especially since ashe triggered from it. mark nukes his whole past life & ashe's to escape without undergoing all the protocols. he spends ages doing shit work to support him & ashe bc theyre both legally dead, ends up working for overlord, manages to get enough of a fake past to get through cauldron background checks & get powers? it'll pay so much better than the grunt work he's doing now & he has to support ashe (powered)(legally dead)(would probably be executed if anyone Found Out)....

anyway to me the trickster is like. the endgame of this specific simurgh rube goldberg. somehow it doesn't end horrifically, for once! but it gets. bad. the fact that they're simurgh survivors is always looming over their heads. its why mark fucking freaks out when ashe joins the wards. literally have nothing more specific than this though u gotta help me put meat on these bones!!!!! STOP "being responsible" and "doing work" and stuff START thinking incessantly abt nhw ashe!!!!! i don't even know his powers bc i have no clue how he triggered!!!! augh. god. them..... mods torture that blonde man in the most narratively satisfying and fucked up way possible!!!!

I looooooove the satisfaction in thinking about that snap decision where he goes from "relatively normal if a little emotionally repressed but otherwise does his best suburban dad" to "my wife is dead and my son is fucked up and there's this fucking sound in my head that won't go away I'm about to erase everything and break several laws in order to get us out of here" and how that eventually leads into. supervillain. it's just soooooooo. sickos haha yessss the downfall of this fucking miserable blonde guy. when do you think he consciously made that choice. he heard "you're never going to get out of here and live a normal life again" do you think he just . sat with that for a while. ashe unresponsive either due to shock or fear or the trauma of triggering/whatever his powers are and mark just has to sit there. by himself. like what the fuck am I gonna do now. auaghghghghhhh I need 2 make him so miserable forever. fuck that guy i hate his ass (<< me when I lie)

THEY EXPLODED THAT ONE CAPE GUYS HEAD BECAUSE HE STAYED IN PROXIMITY FOR A LITTLE BIT TOO LONG. maybe it's unofficial. maybe he never Officially joins them but he sneaks out while mark is gone and meets the boys somewhere and they become friends out of costume first. and then they learn about his powers and ashe is like "I can help!" and helps them like. as a rogue or something. but hes never registered as an official cape. is this anything. im thinking about him so much what the fuuuuuck have we done. what have we done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thinking about proximity boys getting into like. a fight with other survivors

like they get jumped one night, and are just having a good time, being all gay (they are kissing and smooching) and then a big ass rock comes flying out from fuck knows where and killer is suddenly staring at cross’s unconscious body, horrified at the spiderweb of cracks, a bloodied stone thudding onto the dirt and then a group of monsters, like 4 of them, come crashing out of the surrounding buildings

and killer snarls angrily, and grabs his bat and cross’s machete and he goes in swinging like a rabid animal, cursing at them, and just going apeshit, “you MOTHERFUCKERS.”

and like, they had taken out cross cuz he was the bigger one of the two, and deemed killer harmless, so imagine the shock when killer comes charging with murder in his eyes

and he like. comes at them and just stabs, slashing at them so angrily that he nearly decapitates one and he leaves the machete in the chest of the other and he whips around, and there’s the other two, trying to make a break for it, cross’s backpack slung over one of their shoulders

and killer just, forces them back, bashing one upside the head, tearing one of his knives out to drive it through the other’s eye

and the whole time, he’s just fucking terrified and not really aware of what he’s doing because all he can see is cross’s cracked skull and they took him away and it’s just this rapid spiral of snowballing grief and anger and he just screams at the very dead body and hits it harder

meanwhile cross comes to, a little concussed but perfectly fine, and he sits up, confused and dazed, and then it’s killer’s yelling and he scrambles to get up, and turns around to find killer stabbing some very dead monster in the face over and over

and cross stumbles over, panicking at the blood on killer’s body, and grabs him and killer starts thrashing and giving these watery, sad shouts, clawing blindly at this perceived attacker, but cross drags him off of the dusting monster and clings to him, “it’s me! it’s me, it’s okay, they’re gone-“ and killer just goes limp for a moment before just crying

and anyways the idea of killer thinking cross died, killing the attackers, and then just sobbing hysterically when cross is not in fact dead, i dunno. i dunno man

and i wanna think, this happens like, right after the distance arc, so im just. it’s still raw, all the hurt from that, and now this scare, the brief moment when he was certain he’d lost cross again, it just tore the barely healing wound wide open and killer just

anyways killer nursing cross back to health from a minor concussion and then being very very protective and clingy and in turn, cross makes sure to THOROUGHLY check their surroundings when they set up camp and weeping sobbing i keep just thinking about killer having nightmares about it and it’s like

it’s not the first time they’d been attacked or wound up in a fight; it was rare, but it wasn’t the first time, but like.

it was different this time

OHH okay. Okay. Maybe killer even. After the first scare of Cross getting knocked out. Starts wandering away less. Like before he’s go off for hours or days doing his own thing in the city and like. Neither of them thought twice about it. And Killer generally had been fairly aloof the whole time up until then despite always coming back

But after that Killer starts doing it less and less. And starts leaving for shorter and shorter periods of time. And starts running ahead less, and. Ough man

cause he just. Is so fucking worried about what if he came back and Cross wasn’t there. And he couldn’t possibly bare that after the distance arc

so instead now he just clings to cross. Literally but mostly metaphorically. And cross notices but he doesn’t say anything. Cause he knows why he knows and in turn he clings to Killer

And just I feel like. They’re both reminded how fleeting everything really is

and maybe it’s not like that permanently like they’ll go back to some kind of normalcy but it’s not the same. Everything’s shifted and warped

Cause everything’s different now
