Day 28: Macabre Duck

My headcanon for Nega Magica and Nega Gladstone’s relationship is complicated. Ha. I have written about it before. My Nega Magica is a paladin/healie magic type. Though that seems like a good thing, her magic spells can also dip into memory manipulation and a little mind control when needed. I like the concept that Negaverse versions are not like just completely opposite of their prime versions. At first glance she seems like a goodie goodie compared to Prime Magica. Believing in balance and helping innocent parties. However she has some shady dealing and secrets. Those that don’t know the couple well would see the situation as a Beauty and the Beast type thing. Grimstone is moody and edgy seeming personality while Magica seems like an innocent soul just hopelessly in love with a monster and willing to stay with him. But oh boy she’s doing the manipulating let me tell you.

My Nega Gladstone goes by Grimstone. My prime-verse headcanon has the luck being something coming down from Grandma Duck’s side of the family, magnified by the Distelfink. So in the Negaverse the  bloodline from Grandma Duck has one family member each generation that is consumption cursed. Like how Paddywack feeds on fear, Grimstone feeds on luck. So you can see how that would pit him against his primeverse version at some point. Oh ho ho. While Gladstone is lazy and relies on his luck, Grimstone is a well studied warlock on top of his consumption cursed abilities. 

Grim and Magica stay at Grandma’s farm, which unfortunately Grandma duck isn’t alive anymore. She was a bit of a paranoid survivalist so the farm is pretty self sustaining and had power off the grid. They do work as a pair to fight super natural things and collect dangerous artifacts they keep safely locked up in the farmhouse basement. That part of their lives is a parody on the RL based couple in The Conjuring. Once again I like the idea of Negaversers not being black and white good and evil based on their prime counterparts. Though Grimstone has tried to each Gladstone’s luck a few time in the primeverse, in the negaverse he and Magica are doing things to help save the world sometimes. Yah know. (I do the same with Negaduck but that's a different story HA)

I’m giving a lot of links to old stories cuz I haven’t had time to do Duckvember this year but here is a great story touching on their relationship haaaa. 

What little short story I wanted to write for this prompt was actually Magica getting badly injured on one of their missions and Grimstone bringing her body back to the barn with the Distelfink. He can’t do any healing magic at all because of his whole consumption cursed thing. He does his best he can with no luck (ha.) 

The actually have three kids and there youngest an adopted canadian goose named Orin, witnesses this going on. Grimstone tells him momma is alright and to go in the house and get some things needed. I see him being around 7ish in this story. With Orin’s help he is able to get Magica’s major wound closed up and maybe she might have needed a little rezz to. She might have been a little bit more dead than alive. But luckily now stable her own healing tomes kick in and she though unconscious, gets healed enough that she is going to be okay. 

Grimstone reassures Orin that momma was okay all along she just need a little help. And also don’t tell momma what just happened she’ll be worried and we don’t wanna stress out momma. 

Of course the next day when Magica is feeling better but resting in bed, Grimstone brings her breakfast. She states she knows everything that happened. Because Orin is a little snitch and loves his momma more than his daddy so he told Magica EVERYTHING. Magica isn’t mad, is glad Grimstone was able to save her. But like, his healing job is horrible she’s gonna have a scar on her torso thats never gonna go away but GRIM DID HIS BEST OKAY. ;-;

Unfortunately, like last year, I didn't have the exact template with my drawings this year either, so I'll post through this. Unlike 2021, during 2022 I improved my drawing methods a bit, and also opened a new blog where I mostly post my drawings and you can see them here: https://www.tumblr.com/ducktoonsfanart

Yes, I mostly drew related to Donald Duck and the Duckverse, but especially in November I also drew other franchises, mostly from Looney Tunes and Tiny Toons. Yes, this year I managed in all 12 months to draw at least one drawing in one month. Yes, there were ups and downs for me, but overall, the results were solid. Yes, although I mostly draw Quack Pack, I've certainly drawn related to Donald Duck comics, Darkwing Duck and the Three Caballeros. I hope to focus more on not only the Donald Duck franchise this year, but the others as well. I'm hoping to get over 100 followers on my side blog and hit 500 followers on this one. Now, thought on Lyla, I guess:

I surprised myself today and didn't draw Odin Eidolon. This is, in fact, my first time drawing Lyla. I like her. She is definitely not my favorite but the Y5 mini stories made me appreciate her way more. Just an android from the future doing her job as she tries to understand humans biologicals and be there for her friends.

Daisy in many comics isn’t very nice…like how she treats Donald etc. but in like Quack pack and DT17 she is very great and bubbly and modern.

DAY 30: Problematic DUCK

I’ve missed most of Duckvember because I was sick and then work kicked my ass weh. So now I’m gonna go through these as quickly as possible lololol

For Gladstone Gander it would be Problematic Duck - but more like Problematic Luck. Ha. I headcanon That Grandma Duck (Elvira) actually had a little bit of extra luck to begin with. In the comic “The Sign of the Triple Distelfink” the painted symbol is more of a magnifier of already existing luck, which makes Daphne’s luck much more noticeable. Then, Gladstone being the next in line has his luck even more magnified than his mothers. 

Now, one of the things mentioned in the duck lore is that Gladstone’s parents died from overeating at a free picnic. That isn’t very lucky for Daphne, who is supposed to have luck. Wellll, look at this interesting part of this comic. 

So Gladstone won toys the day before and Daphne won a truck to hold Gladstone’s toys that morning. Her luck is taking a supporting role to Gladstone’s luck. So if the ‘luck’ was in a situation where both were in trouble but only one could be saved, would make sense the luck would choose the kid over the parent. And in my headcanon Gladstone’s luck would be stronger than his mom’s soooo. In a story I would hope to finish someday I had it that they were at a picnic but it wasn’t overeating that really killed them. Gladstone wasn’t there of course but OH BOY. As an adult he has some survivor's guilt.

 I have it that his parents wanted to leave where they were picnicking but child Gladstone was like NO I want to stay a little longer- and then leaves them to go play in whatever park or whatnot is nearby. It is when he leaves them is when the ‘INCIDENT’ happens. Dun dun DUN. So the reason they were still in the area was because of Gladstone, and he tries not to think about that.  It’s really NOT his fault there was some other stuff going on he’ll find out someday. SWEATS.

I also have an OC that is his and Magica’s daughter OF COURSE. Her name is Felicity. :3  And when she is a year away from being the same age that Gladstone was when his parents died, well, some weird stuff starts happening. My main fic I’ll write SOMEDAY is about Magica nd Gladstone researching really what is going on with the Distelfink, like who exactly painted it and what origins the actual design has. Trying to find out the background of the luck,  because you know, what if the luck takes out Gladstone is some round about way because it needed to protect Felicity. 

Also, with the luck magnifying every generation, Felicity’s starts to go out of control.  Gladstone’s luck  is more - oh 1000 people entered this raffle and he just happened to win it over the other people. Felicity is more like the first 40 numbers pulled before hers the people were sick or stuck in traffic. So she still wins, but some bad stuff may have happened to the people that would have won so she wins by default? Hard to EXPLAIN. As it gets  more powerful it seems to be more than just luck, but to bend reality itself. So a stop to it must be found to like, you know, prevent bad things. The usual.

There is also a AU I have where Felicity had been kidnapped by some baddies that knew of her luck/reality bending abilities. Her parents of course go to try to rescue her.  Soon after an Elder God type creature takes out most the life on the planet. Poe De Spell (my version have been turned back into a duck around the same time Felicity was born,) is one of the few people still alive on the planet. He believes it is because when Magica and Gladstone went to go try to rescue Felicity, Gladstone had told him to stay here (Grandma’s farm) because someone had to be here to way for Felicity to get back in case she comes back on her own. And Gladstone’s luck, even though something happened where him and Magica are now gone, still held with that statement making Poe survive all of it. Because someone had to wait for Felicity. Felicity disappeared at 6 and in  that AU is now 25. Poe has also not aged a day between that. So yeah, that's concerning. Though he’d probably start aging normal once Felicity gets back but unknown to him she actually went to a whole other universe. Oops. So he’s just gonna be immortal alone at Grandma’s farm because of GLADSTONE’S LUCK. 

Also Felicity for the canon super hero AU comics she would go by Miss Fortune. Which you know, sounds like misfortune, hinting to her luck causing bad luck for others. Dun dun dun.

Also I'd like the point out that man that painted the symbol is suspicious as hell, right?

DAY 29: Manic Duck

Okay for this I had a headcanon for Ducktales 2017 Poe De Spell before he came on the show that was WAY different than what he ended up being on the show. I wanted to do something kinda the opposite of my headcanon for ‘87 Poe. My ‘87 Poe, after he’s turned back from being a raven, is pretty much mostly chill. He never had the ability to cast magic but is well studied in it. Knows magical objects and creatures just off the top of his head and things like that. A real nerd. He has some self esteem issues because he can’t cast real magic and was stuck as a raven for 10-20 years and that affected him a bit.  Has a silly side too, which is why I pair him with Fethry. Whee. 

Also YEARS before the 2017 cartoon I had Poe and Magica being twins, and Poe being the more level headed once.  WHICH IS FUNNY BECAUSE GUESS WHAT HAPPENED IN THE 2017 CARTOON lolol.

So anyways, I wanted my headcanon for 2017 to be the opposite of that. He has magic and he is very arrogant and full of himself. I wanted him to be the more energetic and charismatic  sibling and just be a troll that picking on people. Even though we already know 2017 Magica is quite a troll herself, she would be more level headed than Poe. In comparison. In this idea, Poe would seem more of a trouble maker than Magica. Very chatty and can be annoying. Him and his sister seem like an unstoppable dangerous duel. 

However, oh the turntables when he learns of Lena’s existence. She looks a lot like his daughter Minima who past away a long time ago. At the time I was assuming Poe and Magica could be a few hundred years old so it could have happened some time ago but Poe never completely got over it. I actually wrote about that right here.

I think after that happens, well, he wouldn’t become a good guy. Far from that lol. He just wouldn’t go after the good guys that are around Lena. But he’s still doing bad guy things without his sister somewhere else. Spoonerville has had it too good for too long. 

There was some playing with the idea with @ that since Djinn is not the Djinn from the old Ducktales movies, that maybe Poe could fill the minion to Merlock spot instead. But then canonly in 2017 he turned to be too serious. So runner up minion may be Black Arts Beagle. WE’LL SEE.

Day 26: Shy Duck

I was gonna do my head canon for 87 Poe x Fethry shipping for this prompt. Poe isn’t really a SHY person though he is more quiet than his sister in social situations. In my plotline, when Poe and Fethry in each other some time after Magica and Gladstone are already married and have a daughter. Wheee. I have both Poe and Fethry be the type that value friendships over romantic relationships so neither of them want to pull the trigger and say to the other like HEYYY wanna like DATE. Though, they are already hanging out a lot, and causing trouble together. Like some of the things they have already done other people would consider to be DATES.

Anyways Poe being a NERD if he finally decided to say something first like inviting Fethry to a De Spell family/other magic peeps dinner/dance function that is clearly a date and like saying like ‘THIS IS A DATE’ nervously and see  Fethry’s reaction to see if that goes well. Fethry, being Fethry, would reply with something like, “what date? If this thing you want me to go to is two days from now it would be on the 27th, right?”

And Poe wouldn’t clarify he would be like “yeah buddy the 27th, I’d love to have you there. HA ha ha Hecatejusthitmewithboltoflightningrightnow.”

Anyways, they have a good time at the function. Grandma De Spell (the blonde loud version in more newer comics) being her loud self, pressures Poe and Fethry to talk more to everyone else there. Putting Poe in a position to introduce Fethry to everyone.  And to get on the dance floor. Obviously, doing more couples things.  Towards the end of the night when they’re leaving Fethry is like, “So uh, I had a great time and I kinda wanna ask if you want to do more things like this. Together. Like in a more than just friends way.”

“Like best friends? I thought we were already best friends…,” Poe would reply confused. He spent the whole night focused on it not being a date since Fethry didn’t pick up on it being a date earlier, that he didn’t realize that was Fethry was asking for now. Would Fethry give up the same way Poe gave up earlier and not clarify either or will he take Poe’s hand and give it a squeeze and be like “no like going out like boyfriends”  and then they can start dating officialllllly.

Day 27: Burly Duck

A duckverse OC I rarely use and I needa use him for something. Ahhh.

His name is Kosoko Noah Kunda. When he was younger he was part of a group that fought elder gods. Different agents in the group are named with different zodiac symbols. His was Agent Taurus, not to be confused with FOWL’s Agent Taurus. 

Not gonna lie, this character is heavily influenced by Grin from Mighty Ducks the animated series. LOL. Kosoko is not as buddhism vibe as Grin, but he is a gentle giant. A good listener and knows not all situations are black and white. He will listen to input on both sides before taking action. 

Because of the previous god fighting group he was in, he does have some spell casting skills. He doesn’t look like your usual spell caster though which is fun to play with. Seeing someone doing physical fighting and the bad guy thinks he has them pinned and then they suddenly cast some magic to get out. Or thinking he's a magic caster and doing something to stop magic from working, but then he’s still muscular so he just starts punching the bad guy instead. LOL. Bad guy returns his magic to stop Kosoko from hitting them lol.

Abilities, Skills, and Powers: Though Kunda is a soft spoken gentle giant, he does have an amount of super strength. He can lift a school bus with ease. He has enchanted gauntlets that protect his hands when making thunderous punches. Despite having super strength he is not invincible. He’s broken a few bones back in the day. He also has a bit of empathic abilities. Doesn’t work as strongly on people as it does on non-domesticated animals. He is knowledgeable on many varieties of ‘mythical’ animals. He also has some strength and shielding based summons he can make appear. He has a short list of magical force blow spells and basic healing spells he can do as well.

Physical Appearance:  Tall, muscular, and grey feathered big. Definitely looks like he hits the gym. Though Shoebills already have unusually textured bills, there seems to be a few scars that blend in with the natural markings. 

Usual Attire: Likes neutral colors that match is feathers. He’s already tall and sculpted. Doesn’t want any other attention drawn to himself.   

Weapons: Uses a titanium bo staff at times, but usually has to rely on his fists.

23. Sticky Duck

For this one I was gonna do a 2017 Gene x Djinn thing with them having breakfast. Gene would have a little stray maple syrup in the corner of his beak and Djinn would give him a little kiss there to ‘clean it up.’ it would just be cute thing because I LOVE DOING CUTE THINGS WITH THESE TWO WEH.

24. Holiday Duck

This I wanted to do a De Spell fam fighting Krampus thing with them. De Spells trap KRAMPUS in the snow globe instead. Oh how the turntables.

25. Artistic Duck

This one I was gonna do Gene x Djinn again just being at an art museum being on a cute date. I really had no fleshed out idea beyond that. JUST THEM BEING SWEETIES OKAY. Maybe have in passing mention someone also there that desc fits Splatter and Camille there for a date as well.
