Screw it, I'm finally posting this!

Narrators and their Heroes!

Them in the Narrator Dimension! (Is a place where the narrators are usually when they narrate their heroes, I couldn't just draw them in there, I wanted to design the heroes too, just in case that they'll ever go there I guess).

I also separate them to their own games/shows so it's easier to see them separately (I guess).

Extras for the narrators, I remember finding out about TSP Narrator's eyes being green and having to go back and fix the drawings yet again.

That's what I've been doing for the most part, other than animating I've also been thinking on how to present this. And other stuff I guess.

And finally, the other Testers of Dude, Stop. I will probably draw them digitally in the future, since I love these guys sm.

Also It doesn't say it in the drawing, but Tester #15 is actually 22. I forgot to write in her age, mb.

Lore:

After drawing these guys I was thinking up a fan made lore for the game. Especially when it came to Tester #16. In case you didn't notice or you haven't played the game, the Narrator (he calls himself the 'Developer' but I don't) said that there were 15 people before #17, but proceeds to call him #17. What happened to #16?

I also noticed all sorts of clues to change my original design of #17 to whatever clues we're in the game. Like his hat, it's not totally accurate but let's just say that he leaves it at the end and takes his current hat.

The he/him pronouns that the Narrator uses on Tester #17 is also a clue, and how he either compares #17 to a child or doesn't actually know his age. I made him into a 19 year old, unlike his old design who was a 10 year old girl. It seems like #17 could have dirty thoughts in the game, because of jokes like the brick sorting puzzle and the pin number puzzle. Which is why I made him into a 19 year old.

Oh and his old design I couldn't waste it so instead I recycled her into Tester #16 for lore purposes. She and the DS Narrator we're pretty close (before and after I made her into Tester #16 so not much had changed). Tho she was as much of a trouble maker as #17 later is.

Then an accident happened and she was erased from the game's memory, and the narrator's memory too, sort of. He remembers the trauma, not the events of it or the Tester (that much). Which is why he gets pissy whenever Tester #17 does anything bad.

It may seem like all he cared about was his game (tho I don't blame him since he was also the developer of it) but the truth is he deeply unknowingly feels like he didn't want a repeat of what happened with #16.

TDSP WEEKEND UPDATE

WHAT IS MATELOTAGE?

A French word meaning “seamanship”, it was an economic civil union between pirates. It was a pact two pirates—or “matelots” as they were called—would have to fight along side each other, and whoever dies will inherit the other’s treasure. 

Many historians believe that these unions turned sexual, and would be compared to what same-sex marriage is today. Piracy was a heavily male-dominated industry, so homosexuality became quite common. 

With DS1, chapter 14 has examples of how a homosexual couple would get odd looks as compared to a heterosexual one in 18th century society. This is one of them that The Captain finds funny due to Charlie poking fun at Ed.

With our sequel, we will lightly be incorporating the view of how homosexuality is viewed between the 18th and 21st centuries, and put a positive spin on it.

Another thing that we are trying our best to include is the representation of non-WLM players, especially in our Dirty 30′s. As straight women, The Captain and The First Mate don’t know anything about this, so they send out the Dirty 30′s to our amazing head writer. We try our best to make DS cater to everyone, and we know that it may not please some. Please know that the intentions were never meant to offend, and that there were limitations on what we can and cannot do both from staying true to the first book, and some of us not having the experience of being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

In other news of our sequel, our “2 week deadline” is in effect. Our amazing programmer is working on a demo that will be out sometime before August. We will be looking for about 5 people to be testers. These are the people that see if the game runs smoothly. An announcement will be posted once we get an application set up, and we are leaving it up to the programmer. The design for both the demo and game release dates are finalized. What is left is to put in the correct release date.

The Captain finished writing chapter 3 for Charlie, which is now in editing. Chapter 3 for Ollie is being written, and chapter 4 is when things in our story truly gets into full gear. We have discussed a bit of a backstory for Ollie that will be revealed in a diamond scene.

The Captain & The First Mate will be doing a podcast that will be released sometime in the next 2 weeks. It will be our last YouTube video and then our channel will remain dormant until further notice.

In Puyo Puyo 7's Transformation rule, there's actually a weird bug with the chain power multipliers! Each difficulty/handicap has a multiplier which is applied properly and rounds down at the start of a set. However, the transformation themselves are unaffected by it. When you return to normal, your attack power goes back to the regular, as in the same as when playing on Medium (4 colors, 3 mega colors).

HOWEVER. When starting a new match within one set, the multiplier is applied TWICE and rounded down, regardless of the difficulty! Which means that, until you transform for the first time in a match, you can either get a huge buff or a ridiculous debuff applied to your chains, after which it will return to normal. It works like this on the DS and Wii versions, but the PSP version actually patched it and also applies the multipliers to the transformations. With how rushed the game seems all around, I'm not surprised this slipped past the developers/testers at the time, but I am surprised I never saw it documented (and that I only noticed today...), though I probably just didn't look hard enough, especially with how thorough Japanese players are on Puyo Puyo game studies. Still, it would be nice if it was mentioned on Transformation's page on Puyo Nexus, for the sake of accessibility.

For reader's convenience, here's all the multipliers* and how they're like with the bug, as well as some comparisons to other Puyo rules (assuming target points are 120 and margin time hasn't triggered yet.)

Sweet: 1.5x / 2.25x (Two istances of margin time raise the nuisance rate to 2x, so you're sending more garbage right off the bat than you would after three minutes and 16 seconds normally)

Mild: 1.25x / 1.5625x (You'd be sending a little more nuisance than you would send in Underwater Puyo or after one istance of margin time)

Medium: 1x

Hot: 0.75x / 0.5625x (No good comparison, but it's a little over half, so your nuisance rate would be similar to five color puyos. Additionally, from 20th onwards, chain powers are 70% of the ones from 15th and 7)

Spicy: 0.5x / 0.25x (You're sending less than you would in Excavation, which has a target score of 420 (which would be similar to a 0.28x multiplier))

*Educated guesses on the multipliers made with a calculator. I believe they are correct, though.

On Pokemon Difficulty Hacks

When romhacking Pokemon first got big, you saw many an attempt to make proper fresh experiences and truly new games. Naranja, Quartz, Ruby Destiny and the like. The ambitious attempts of people who didn’t know just how much effort would be required to finish anything remotely resembling a finished product, though in fairness. Romhackers didn’t have teams, usually, maybe a couple helpers for spriting or beta testers, but the majority of people just wouldn’t have the time, energy, or lasting ambition to make something like that work.

In this era, where tools were limited but popularity was growing, it was perhaps unsurprising that many other hackers went for the “386” style of hack. Because, frankly, one of the first things someone is going to think of when it comes to making a Pokemon fangame is “what if you could catch all the Pokemon in one game?”. And from there, the train of thought naturally continues- if the player isn’t as restricted in teambuilding as the usual Regional Pokedex system makes them, why not have that for the NPCs as well? And while I’m at it, the games are usually really easy, and everyone playing them is going to be an enfranchised Pokemon fan, so why not pump up the difficulty a bit? Hence, the difficulty hack was born.

I suspect you can attribute much of the root of this to one man- Drayano, easily one of the most well-known romhackers around. The creator of Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, Fire Red Omega, Blaze Black/Volt White (and BBVW2), and of course, Renegade Platinum. I don’t well enough know if Dray popularized this kind of hack or just followed an existing trend, but (with the exception of FRO) the versions he created ended up being, and probably still are today, the definitive difficulty romhacks for their respective original titles. They weren’t just difficult, but they had a level of effort put into tuning their difficulty that most were unable to replicate- especially considering how difficult DS hacking was at the time and especially in Renegade Platinum.

Dray’s hacks were the only real hacks of their kind that I can think of getting major attention. They’re difficult but fair, making for a good gameplay experience, and thereby a good watching experience as youtubers, let’s players, and streamers flock to do playthroughs and catch ‘em alls and Nuzlockes. The nature of this kind of project means that only one version is really going to stand tall- sure, you could play Bloody Diamond or Obsidian, but why would you when you could just play Renegade Platinum? I will acknowledge that Obsidian was possibly the best Platinum hack before RenPlat, but its age is showing. The only exception I can think of is Fire Red Omega- owing to Gen 3 hacking being significantly easier and better explored, it had competitors, such as Yet Another Fire Red Hack by DoesntKnowHowToPlay or Fire Red Advanced by Z-nogyroP, among many others.

For the record, I have no doubt that with DS hacking becoming easier and better understood, SGSS, BBVW, and even RenPlat will be replaced in time. Possibly even soon- the scene got much bigger last year on account of breakthroughs and also people being stuck inside.

I would have thought, in 2021, that difficulty hacks would likely have died out, that they would have been replaced as resources such as disassembly/decompilation and the CFRU make more complex projects significantly easier. I was, surprisingly, wrong, though the nature of the games has changed a lot. Previous hacks in this discussion served as more difficult versions of existing games, with more freedom in teambuilding and some added features. But the modern “difficulty hack” is another beast entirely. The two I’d like to highlight in particular are Radical Red and the Kaizo games.

RadRed is the culmination of the aforementioned CFRU (Complete Firered Upgrade), a demonstration of its capabilities in porting both the entire 2021 catalogue of Pokemon into a game from 2004, but in showing the advances in AI and modern Pokemon mechanics (with refinement) to push the limits of how hard a Pokemon game could be. Every major fight plays like a competitive match, with the average playthrough necessitating frequent team rebuilding, and dedicated EV training and IV breeding. Radical Red (aside from basically stealing the best name I could ever use for a Romhack) is extremely difficult, requiring both a tactical mind and a bottomless well of Pokemon knowledge to play well.

The Kaizo games, by one Sinister Hooded Figure, are difficult in a different way entirely. Blue and Crystal Kaizo are actually getting older by this point, both of them releasing in 2014, but 2017’s Emerald Kaizo is the one that is getting the most buzz as of late. The Kaizo games (named for Kaizo Mario World) are crushingly difficult, built to be Nuzlocked and make you suffer doing it. An accelerated level curve, NPCs featuring legendary Pokemon that you have no access to (including Blue Kaizo giving your Rival a Mew from the very first battle), and the earlier games having extensive edits to maps necessitating fighting every battle, churning through dozens of Wilds in extended endurance segments, and fighting bosses and accessing resources in extremely inopportune ways. Emerald Kaizo has less of this but adds difficulty in the form of expert-level AI and the game forcing you into loads and loads of treacherous double battles. In addition, while Radical Red adds future additions and competitive-style gameplay, the Kaizo games lean into their rage game roots, with many a trainer using high-variance moves or items like the Quick Claw. A Critical Hit is problematic in a normal game, in Kaizo they’re ruinous. RadRed is the culmination of the years of Fire Red development, while Kaizo presents vanilla mechanics pounding you as hard as possible.

It may come as some surprise that I’m actually not a huge fan of either of these.

As much as I love difficulty, the experiences these games present just fall on the level of unfun for me. Grinding is boring, and they often necessitate that, and I’m not a huge fan of every single opponent being a significant enough threat that I need to pay serious attention in every single battle. It’s frustrating, because I want to like them, but they’re just too much.

But these games remain popular, and I think a large reason for that is simply because watching other people play them is quite entertaining. Streamers and Youtubers have flocked to these games, challenging their might, and often failing to conquer them. They’re an experience best had while slightly removed, it appears- the approachability barrier broached by having a proxy.

I’m sure people exist that are superfans of this kind of hack. I know they do, since I’ve seen folks who’ve done multiple playthroughs of Radical Red, and those who’ve stuck it out to actually complete a Nuzlocke of each and every Kaizo game. But they aren’t for me, and that’s okay. I am not surprised that these hacks continue to stay popular, and I expect them to continue and stay relevant as long as Pokemon Romhacking continues. With that in mind, I think I’d prefer more Dray-style hacks at this point.

The future of Resident Evil and Valenfield (of course)

So It’s me again and I’m here to talk a little about what I think it’s going to happen with this series and my main ship - “Valenfield all the way, always”

First let’s talk about this game here...

Resident Evil 3 Remake

First of all, I’m really happy to see Jill again, the last time we got a chance to play using her was in Revelations 1 and that game was released in 2012 - that time she also got a different character model

What I liked about the game was the nostalgia, if we look at the graphics and gameplay it's the same engine so it hasn't changed much (not that this is bad). In this game we have the fact that Nemesis proves himself to be the most feared BOW so far in the franchise, all the persecutions and all the determination to eliminate JV, his ability to evolve and continue only with the goal of killing someone shows what Umbrella wants, to create life that is capable of changing the course of a war...But Umbrella made a stupid decision to make this creature go after Alpha’s team finest. (Spencer was trying to become a god - that’s why he used Umbrella)

Capcom had informed us that their idea was to launch RE2 and RE3 together, that is, the game model was almost ready that’s why it didnt take long to release RE3, if you played both you would not complain that the main campaign is short but playing only RE3 it feels like it is very short... Indeed that is, If you analyze the city map it is small and does not give you any freedom to explore, same thing with the other maps and this is very sad, especially for a fan who wants to explore every corner of RC.

I had said in a post before that there would be a good number of people shipping Jill with Carlos (I was prepared for that), but what I didn’t expect is that she wouldn’t mention Chris in the game, we didn’t even get a chance to go into RPD as Jill to read the letter he had left.

WTF, SHE DIDN’T SAY A WORD about Chris probably dying, one thing that I miss a lot from old versions of RE games, is that we see what they are thinking about the object when they interact with it - when he actually moves to Europe he leaves a letter saying he’s okay so Claire wouldnt be worried (HE’S THE BEST BROTHER - dafuq)

BUT THERE IS MORE - HOW DO I UNLOCK HER DIARY ???

I wanted to see how Capcom would adapt this, but they didnt put this file in the game - Not that we know of (because her diary is a secret file in the original game)

Since I’m really mad about the lack of Valenfield content let’s talk about the future of Resident evil games.

REMAKES or new stories ? Why not both ?

An insider at Capcom said that RE8 has been rebooted,this would mean that the game would be far from release but the beta testers of RE Revelations 3 had great reviews, so REV3 became Resident Evil 8.

But that doesnt mean that we wont get more Reworks in the meanwhile and there is two games that comes in my mind right now.

Resident Evil : Code Veronica

Whoever played this game knows how good it is, the protagonists are nothing less than the Redfield brothers and Stevie Burnside unraveling the mysteries of the Ashford family, and this game can easily be remade, because it has so much information about Resident Evil universe, about Wesker and Umbrella, let’s not forget about the horror, this is a survival horror game for sure, the files that we see in the camp are scary af.

Since RE has been getting a lot of new fans this would be appreciated by the new one and the old ones. Claire’s character model already showed a lot of interest to play her again in code Veronica - and to see a young Chris Redfield again it would be so cool.

But there is another option, that in my opnion wouldn’t even be considered a Remake, because i’m not talking about an actually a game.

I’m talking about RESIDENT EVIL:Umbrella Chronicles

Don't let the WII logo fool you Resident Evil Revelations was a Nintendo DS exclusive, when it became multiplatform it was very welcome and had great reviews, being the first of the most recent games to bring Survival horror back

Umbrella Chronicles is one of the most important in the history of Resident Evil because it’s the only one that shows how Chris and Jill set the end of Umbrella (this sound familiar, right ? ) that’s because you saw this in the ending

it should be after Code Veronica to follow chronological order

This game is really short, and it shows so many stuff about RE 0 and RE1, so if they decided to make a “Remake” version of Umbrella’s fall it would be so nice because they wouldnt be actually tied to the original game - (Like RE2 and RE3) - they could use the same history but have creativity freedom to do more things, more maps, more enemies, more dialogue PLEASE and keep the “No Ladies first this time?”

What it’s really like to be in a Dom/sub relationship

I accidentally crossed paths with my first Dominant online when I was going through a divorce seven years ago. My first thought was to run away fast: He must be some whip-toting freak with a dungeon in his basement.

Fast-forward to today and I have three Dominant/submissive (D/s) relationships behind me (though I’ve had vanilla relationships, too), and I can honestly say that each relationship built on the former and has taught me profound things about my body, myself, and even life.

With so much controversy and misinformation, which I’ve written about before, out there around what D/s is and isn’t, I want to offer up a glimpse into the REAL world of D/s. Here are the answers to the most popular questions I’ve been asked.

1. What do you enjoy most about D/s?

What appeals to me the most is the intense cerebral connection — the mind play and the feelings it conjures in me, sometimes all day long (the brain is, after all, the biggest sex organ). The words, the orders, the reprimands, the tone and the downright audacity for him to say it all: Never would I allow anyone else to speak to me in this way, or, over all, to have such deep access into my mind, body and heart

And I hear myself responding in ways that similarly shock me — from mouthy and totally improper to meek and pleasing or with no air in my lungs at all. All the while I feel with my mind, heart and full body, the anticipation, the fear, the exposure, my power, his control and protection, desire and love. Through the D/s dynamic, I not only feel more alive and aware of my sexuality/sensuality, I learn and own more of myself.

2. I’ve heard of “punishment and discipline” being used in D/s relationships: What does that look like?

I can only explain this from my perspective, so I’ll have to back up a bit:

I have many different aspects to my personality. For the most part, I’m pretty straight-laced: responsible, hard-working, kind, thoughtful, capable, organized, (boring). Maybe it’s my upper middle-class, good girl upbringing at work, I don’t know.

But some parts of me itch to go outside the lines, and those parts are bitchy, aggressive, sly, daring, bold, manipulative, and even, I’d say, immature. This is where “Delaine The Brat” comes out in the D/s relationship — and boy does she love to push.

For some people, this is where S&M comes into play. For others, it’s bondage and/or spanking and/or kink. It could even involve humiliation and standing in the corner like a berated child. The submissive never knows ‘exactly’ what her Dom is going to do and the slight fear of the unknown can be erotic. That being said, she should always know that she is safe and won’t be pushed outside her limits physically, mentally or emotionally. If this happens and she immediately wants it to stop, she can call out a mutually agreed upon “safe word. As for me, the best way to make me behave is to ignore me.

3. But why, as a grown woman, would you possibly want to behave so childishly?

It’s not all the time, it’s just sometimes. And I don’t know the exact answer. Why do you sometimes crave tomatoes on rye bread while I feel like grilled cheese on white? Why does it even matter if we both enjoy a good meal and are both satisfied and unharmed in the end?

All I know is that some part of me is attracted to strong, decisive, creative, powerful men who also possess the Dom ‘skill set’ (a topic for another article). And when I’m around that energy and reminded of it, I like how it makes me feel as a woman and sexual being. It’s not that I think I’m not all of those things too, but something inside of me is appeased and awakened when I feel that in the company of my partner.

4. Why didn’t you explore D/s before you got divorced?

Looking back, all I can say is that the mundaneness of raising three kids within a stable, predictable, domestic life and marriage squashed my interest in sex beyond the requisites. Only when I became single again at age 37 did I realize how much my sexual desire rouses when my mind and imagination are consistently engaged and challenged. A D/s relationship offers me that.

5. What do you want women to know most about D/s?

First, D/s is first and foremost a PART of a relationship, but it’s not everything the relationship is. You need to be highly compatible in a myriad of ways beyond D/s for the relationship to be successful.

Secondly, when you love your partner, D/s becomes like this private, special journey that enables you to explore yourself and each other in intimate, breathtaking, never-ending ways. Sex is more like an extension of that journey, a vehicle if you will, that allows you to excavate, ask, dare, receive, give and explore things about yourself, and slightly beyond yourself, that you never knew existed. The power and intensity and connection to one another almost feels cosmic. It’s like you’re attached to one another, like muscle on bone.

6. Do you have psychological issues?

Smile. No more than the average person.

In the real world I am a professional, a mom, capable, creative and self-reliant. But as a woman, D/s speaks to some deep and intimate part of my soul. I long to be mastered and taken and led by one amazing man I love. But not just any many can call himself a Dom and own me. There is a ferocious tiger that guards the gates to that sacred part of me. I encourage other women to do the same.

7. Is D/s all about whips, chains, blood and pain?

No. Please do not confuse D/s with S&M, which is sadomasochism. S&M is the dynamic where one person (the sadist) enjoys inflicting pain, often sexually, on someone who enjoys receiving it (the masochist). That being said, some people may incorporate some level of S&M into their D/s dynamic — but more often than not, it’s mild to moderate and takes the form of spanking, which, let’s be honest, many “vanilla” couples have tried in the throes of passion.

Please note that BDSM is divided into three areas: BD, bondage and discipline; DS, Dominance and submission; and SM, for sadomasochism. Not everyone combines all areas, nor do they do so in the same ways; it’s up to the couple to decide upon and consent to together. Also, many couples don’t even categorize themselves under these labels and simply call acts like blindfolding or handcuffing “kink.

8. Is D/s largely about kinky sex then?

D/s is first and foremost an energy dynamic that flows between two people. One person, the Dom, takes on more the role of leader, guide, enforcer, protector and/or daddy, while the other person, the sub, assumes more the role of pleaser, brat, tester, baby girl, and/or servant. Many couples limit the D/s dynamic to sexual role play in the bedroom. But D/s can be expanded and applied in exciting and creative ways beyond it.

For example, a Dom may create simple yet ‘unordinary’ rules for his sub to follow, such as requiring she ask his permission to masturbate when he’s absent. Or, the dynamic may involve much stricter rules and numerous tasks that entrust him with more control of her mind, body and behaviors. This is where the line between D/s crosses into that of Master/slave, which is much more in-depth and more of a lifestyle.

9. Does the Dom have all the power while the sub is pretty much a doormat?

No. This is one of the biggest myths about D/s. A true D/s relationship is based upon the needs, wants, desires and curiosities of the sub — she defines the flow and boundaries of the relationship. The Dom’s job is to listen closely to her, ask questions, intuit what she says and sometimes can’t, and help her creatively and safely explore her innermost self, mentally, emotionally and yes, sexually, too. Sometimes her boundaries get gently pressed, too.

This is why the four pillars of a D/s relationship are trust, communication, respect and honesty. And if one pillar is missing or one starts crumbling, the relationship becomes stunted and may even collapse.
