-not everyone needs to use facewash or bodywash on a regular basis. if water is enough for you, it's enough.

-not everyone needs to use moisturizer all the time. if you don't get issues when you don't moisturize, you probably don't need to.

they are just trying to sell us things!!! some people do benefit from these things, but if a wet washcloth or whatever works to keep you clean and comfortable, it works! there's no inherent human need for bodywash and moisturizer and anyone who tries to tell you everyone needs a "basic skin care routine" involving multiple products is either trying to sell you something or has been indoctrinated by those people.

Garak and Julian find a good moisturizer for scales and skin that both can use, and when they go out together somewhere (especially if they’re on Cardassia) Julian doesn’t need to carry his small squeeze bottle of it, because Garak is gonna have a nice medium sized one in his bag/pocket where it perfectly fits. So at any point Julian is just “Love, can I get some moisturizer?” And Garak will happily supply because it’s a love language for Cardassians to help groom their mate. Also too, when Julian does have his own bottle on hand and they’re in a place where it won’t bring attention to them, he’ll squeeze a bit out on his hand and lovingly smooth over any dry spots of scales on Garak (who just appreciates being taken cared of and groomed by his beloved who wants Garak to look and feel his best).

I know that probably no ones gives a single fuck about my skincare routine but after my latest flare-up I had to put down this sheet to rebuild it with my favourites.

I suffer from atopic dermatitis and it's a bitch, especially in the coldest months. Treatments are usually flare-up focused and cortisone based with little care for maintanance, so most of us end up using whatever is marketed for dry and sensitive skin, most of the time worsening the condition and winning another ride on the steroid train. Also, most dermatologist warn us against the dangers of hot showers, equating hot with drying, but rarely tell us we need to boost hydration in the winter, so we end up believing the old adagio about skin becoming "resistant" to products and trying all creams on the market. Bullshit: skin has different need during different weathers, and you can easily reuse an efficient routine every year (unless you develop allergies or other conditions).

A couple of years ago I found a light in the darkness, a friend with a special interest for cosmetic, and we read hundreds of INCIs to build my perfect skincare. I found out that Korean skincare is mostly prevention based, sensitive skin proof and very idrating, so most of the product we chose are Korean.

All of this product are vegan and cruelty free. Unluckily most packaging is quite plastic-heavy, but many products from Purito have recharges and La Saponaria (an Italian brand) uses 98% or upcycled plastic in their packaging.

This routine was built with my skin condition in mind, but can be used by anyone with a sensitive and dry-very dry skin like me. All of these products have been tested even during flare-ups** and I can guarantee they are as gentle as they claim.

I think I have FINALLY cracked my winter skincare like my skin is always sooo dry and flaky and itchy in the winter (I am prone to eczema) but right now it’s so smooth and glowing and hydrated and it has improved my mood a lot…fyi I use the ordinary lactic acid 5%, the ordinary hyalorunic acid and the aveeno sensitive skin cream and at night (this is a REALLY crucial step which I think makes all the difference) I also slather a layer of aquaphor over my whole face to seal in the moisture. for the first time since lockdown I’ve also been diligently taking vitamin d tablets every day which I think has helped too. if you live in a northern country you neeeed to be getting on the vitamin d tablets because the lack of sunlight is no joke!!

The fact that after eight years I decide to relearn to drive, a skill I technically don't need as of now but will grant me the illusion of freedom (I can't wait until I'll be able to go to the beach by myself <3), and the fact that my mother has been complaining for three days that I cut my hair shoulder-length because "you should make yourself prettier, not uglier like this, I bet you only cut it because you're lazy and don't want to waste time drying it but you should let it grow ass-length because you'd be so pretty", are probably connected.
