Happily_EVAK_After what inspired your story? Having read so many amazing stories on Ao3, I decided to Beta a story for last years Big Bang. I also started thinking about my own fic and before long started writing it. The inspiration on Ao3 is breathtaking, so much talent! I uploaded my first short fic in December for a "winter wonderland" themed prompt on Instagram and was hooked.

CelesteKay what inspired your art? I love the way stars and stargazing tie Isaks relationships together, with his parents and Even. The wedding in general is also an inspiration.

Dummerjan what inspired you to become a beta? I was beta last year and it was fun to be a small part of the Big Bang. I enjoy proofreading and seeing a story develop.

Chapter 4 titled ‘the etymology of oblivion’ is now up from my new @skambigbang 2023 fic! I hope you like it! @mazarin01 photography continues to visualize the story in beautiful detail. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t call out my beta @claire.loved.books who has been there every step of the way, helping nurture this story into being. Here’s a teaser for you:

“What do you want?�� he growls before pulling back to look Isak square in the eye.

The question stumps Isak. “I… I don’t know,” he answers honestly as he worries his lip raw under the heat of that stare. It is suddenly all very real, very here, very now.

“Have you been with a guy before?” Yeah. Of course. One guy.

“Yeah. Of course. Lots of times.”

“Okay, Mr. Lots-of-times…” he smirks.

The stranger feels good, the parts of him pressed up against Isak feel good. Those very same parts that are now rhythmically grinding into him feel very good. Isak’s eyes close, even though he couldn’t see much in the shadowy interior of the small space. With his eyes shut, it is easier to pretend it is someone else kissing him, grinding up against him. Lighting up his body in a way that won’t betray his true feelings to this stranger. He moans softly, his mind taking over, imagining someone else pressing him against the wall. Those thoughts help to push away the twinge of uncertainty that had started to take root in the pit of his stomach, right alongside some slow burning nausea.

You were like a friend to me, while I hadn't had many people in my real-life. Thanks that changed. I found nice people. But after being done with school I managed to get better and also started therapy!

Firstly I'm glad you're doing well, loneliness is so tough so it's good you've found people you connect with. Also therapy, that's a big step that's so great.

I do remember those times, the advice guru days, it was nice, not that you needed the advice but just having people reach out and connecting then showing them that they're not alone

I did take down a lot of my fics, the reasons are somewhere in the depths of my blog now but I had my reasons. Still I'm glad they were a comfort for you. Nobody is my favourite thing I've ever written and I actually still have plans with that world

Not sure if that last bit is a question, doesn't quite read like it but if you are struggling with work then I would say focus on your life outside of work and try to enjoy that. work is just that, work, sadly something we need to do, but keep looking for something better and know you won't be there forever. like me I was miserable and exhausted (and underpaid) at my last job and now i'm thriving

Ficbinding - A5 Heft Teil 1

Ich binde meine Fics gerne als einfaches A5 Heft. Das bietet sich für die meisten, kürzeren Sachen gut an und ist leicht umzusetzen und das meiste Werkzeug und Material dafür hat man (wahrscheinlich) schon zu Hause.

Im ersten Teil zeige ich meine Herangehensweise aus einer Fic ein druckbares Dokument zu erstellen über die Broschüren-Funktion von Word. Fragt mich bitte nicht, wie das mit anderen Office-Anwendungen funktioniert.

Im zweiten Teil binde ich die Seiten und das Cover mit einer einfachen Fadenheftung.

Damit der Post nicht zu lang wird alles weitere unter dem Lies mehr.

Wir brauchen:

eine Fanfic, die wir binden wollen

Microsoft Word

etwas Geduld

einen Drucker

Wir starten mit unserer Fic. Ich empfehle dringend nochmal Korrektur zu lesen ;)

Im Reiter Layout den Pfeil zum Menü "Seite Einrichten" anklicken und das Menü öffnen. Darüber stellen wir die Broschüren-Funktion ein.

Dieses Menü öffnet sich.

unter "Seiten" Mehrere Seiten: Buch auswählen. Dadurch sollte sich das Vorschau-Icon zu dem kleinen Buch ändern. Seiten pro Broschüre auf "alles" belassen.

Seitenränder einrichten. Ich stelle alle auf 2 cm. Damit hab ich bisher gute Erfahrungen gemacht.

Querformat stellt sich von alleine ein. So lassen.

Über OK zurück zur Fic.

Die Broschüren-Funktion sorgt dafür, dass später im Druck die Seiten in der richtigen Reihefolge gedruckt werden. Ihr müsst also nicht darüber nachdenken, welche Seite wo im Dokument ist, sondern bearbeitet es einfach nach aufsteigender Seitenzahl weiter.

Das Dokument sollte jetzt ungefähr so aussehen.

Jetzt folgt der gestalterische Part.

Ihr seht die leere zweite Seite? Bücher beginnen immer auf einer ungeraden Seite (also 1, 3, 5 etc.), also solltet ihr eine leere Seite zwischen Titel und Beginn einfügen.

Wenn ihr ein Inhaltsverzeichnis oder ein vorangestelltes Gedicht/Bild/Zitat habt, würde ich das auch auf eine ungerade Seite schieben.

In diesem Schritt suche ich die Schriftart(en) aus, lege die Schriftgröße fest (meistens 10 oder 11) und schiebe Absätze an die richtige Stelle (s. Hurenkind und Schusterjunge) und formatiere im Blocksatz.

Außerdem füge ich Bilder und Überschriften ein. Hier sieht man das noch etwas besser:

Das ist teilweise etwas Gefummel, aber da vertraue ich auf eure Word und Google-Skills.

An dem Punkt könnt ihr natürlich eurer Kreativität freien Lauf lassen. Unterschiedliche Farben und Schriftarten für jeden Charakter? Initialen für den Kapitelanfang? Eigene Zeichnungen? Go for it!

Außerdem füge ich Seitenzahlen nach diesem Tutorial ein und formatiere sie der Gestaltung entsprechend. Auch das ist immer etwas fummelig, aber nur Geduld.

Falls ich noch etwas einkleben oder reinzeichnen will, lasse ich dementsprechend Platz auf den Seiten.

Idealerweise hat das Dokument am Ende eine gerade Anzahl Seiten. Eigentlich sollte das beim Druck keine Probleme bereiten, ich hab aber schon anderes erlebt und achte seitdem darauf.

Zum Druck:

Ich drucke auf 90gr Papier, 100 gr ist noch besser. Normales 80gr Druckerpapier finde ich immer ein bisschen arg dünn, geht natürlich auch!

Es wird beidseitig gedruckt und im Broschüren-Modus ist immer nur das gesamte Dokument druckbar, deswegen kopiere ich mir manchmal kleinere Passagen von 4 Seiten raus, um zB Schriftgröße oÄ zu kontrollieren.

Wenn ich Bilder in der Datei habe oder das Heft verschenken will, stelle ich die Druckqualität noch auf maximal. Für mich selbst brauche ich das nicht.

Jeder Drucker ist anders.

Unserer kann automatisch drehen und ich weiß, dass das Blatt über die kurze Seite gewendet werden muss, damit der Text nicht bei jeder zweiten Seite auf dem Kopf steht.

das ist trial und error und am besten probiert ihr das mit einer markierten Seite aus und schreibt es euch irgendwo auf ;)

Dann drucken und hoffen, dass alles passt und wie es mit dem Stapel Papier weiter geht, erfahrt ihr nach der nächsten Maus im nächsten Teil.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Tricky, I don't usually finish on angst. Echo (Wtfock) follows on from a very horrendous part of the show or Season 5 - Magnus (Skam) never got finished so it's been left in the midst of angst.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of them end on a happy note but Love, Henry (RWRB) is probably the happiest.

Do you get hate on fics?

I think there was a little back when I started in Riverdale but I think it more anger on their part for a topic I could have written more sensibly I suppose? I've had critique on fics now but never hate.

Do you write smut?

I've written it one time years ago & it felt weird. I loooove writing foreplay though! But I've not ventured into smut in my current fandoms. That might be something I do though, my bigender Alex fic might go into that if there's sequel.

Craziest crossover:

I've only done one and it was a Riverdale meets Teen Wolf, it was a Christmas special and they had to help reunite Santa with his reindeer. While I haven't watched Riverdale for ages, I'm still really proud of that fic!

Firstprince (RWRB) probably. Wilmon (Young Royals) is a close second atm, I'd love to write some YR fics soon. I'm still a massive Yousana (Skam) and Davenzi (Druck) shipper too. Oh and Nathan/Annalise/Gabriel (TBSATDH) - can't remember the ship name! That show got cancelled too soon & it was basically like a fix it for the books.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a Teen Wolf reader insert fic with a pregnancy story line that I left on a huge cliffhanger but frustrates me but not enough to motivate to finish it. I also have my Skam season 5 - Magnus fic that I'd love to finish one day but I haven't found the plan I made for it originally.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue and character voice I think?

What are your writing weaknesses?

Plotting? I'm good at writing scenes but writing a longer storyline in fanfic is something I struggle with.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

If you can do it, go for it! I wish I could incorporate more Spanish in my RWRB fics but alas I only got French or German at my school, I only stuck with French. Maybe I'll brush up & add some in for Henry (RWRB) or Nick (Heartstopper).

i try hard to get back inside your arms alive is the probably the one I'm proudest of and while it isn't finished yet Her Royal Highness is up there cause it combines so many of my favourite things, I'm getting to explore darker topics in some scenes while also putting Henry in drag - fanfic catnip for me quite frankly!

hii thanks for the ask!!! i spend So much time reading fic but I never talk about it this is so exciting!!!

1.            favorite fanfic of all time

My favorite fanfic of all time is Capture by bri_ness on AO3. It's Druck fanfiction, a German remake of Skam. The description of mental health struggles is unmatched to me and the writing style just scratches an itch in my brain. It's really changed the way I think about myself.

2.            favorite writer of the fandom

This is such a hard question because Young Royals has So many awesome writers. Some I can think of right now are starrystoryteller and softwilmcn on AO3 (i dont know their Tumblr's), and @toffeelemon, @stretchoutfics, @alltoowille and @willesworld. I'm jealous of all of their work.

4.            the fanfic you would recommand for somebody not in the fandom

This is a really hard question!! It really depends on what someone is looking for. But I'd probably go with Play My Song by elin98, because it's the first Wilmon fic I ever read. And it's lovely.

36.          your favorite trope

My favorite trope is probably friends to lovers. I sincerely believe that friendship is a good foundation for almost every romantic relationship and reading about the transition between the two never gets old to me.

41.          how do you choose the fic you read

That really depends on the mood. I will probably always click on a title with a lyric I recognise. And I love summaries that are a little piece of the story. Depending on what I'm looking for either a shorter or longer word count. I don't know. Sometimes it's just vibes.

46.          did you stay awake up to an veeeery unreasonable hour to finish a fanfic

Honestly, no! I need my sleep. I do often read fanfiction when I'm supposed to be doing other stuff, so that's basically the same thing. But sleeping is the one thing I can't miss out on if I want to function lmao.

47.          WIP or not WIP

Depends on the mood. I'm trying to get better at reading WIP's but it feels like a bigger commitment since I often forget the plot and need to go a few chapter back every update. So most of the fics I read are completed. But I do know engagement on WIP's is so important, so I try my best. And I usually read WIP's of writers I've enjoyed before.
