Dromoka vs. Arna Kennerüd
Magic: The Girlbossing 2024, Round 1, Match 20
Propaganda under the cut.
Dromoka
Color identity: Selesnya
Featured art by: Eric Deschamps
Dragonlord so a literal girl boss. She ended Abzan spiritual practices of binding spirits for ancestral necromancy and as such was part of the legendary MtG Tumblr Dragonlord Discourse. Problematic Queen.
Arna Kennerüd
Color identity: Esper

Feats for Channeling
(Dromoka Dunecaster by Mark Winters)
Like my earlier Master Channeler, here's a few feats that hopefully make Channel Energy a bit more viable in PF1.
Disabling Channel Channeling Feat Prerequisites: Good, Channel Positive Energy 3d6, Heal 5 ranks Your positive energy can disrupt a living creature’s natural biorhythms. When you channel positive energy, you may choose to have it deal nonlethal damage to living creatures rather than heal living or harm undead. This does not count as Harming Living for the purpose of feat prerequisites or variant channeling.
Prestigious Channeler Channeling Feat Prerequisites: Channel Energy class feature. Treat your effective cleric level as three higher for the purpose of determining channel dice, uses, and DC. This feat cannot raise your effective cleric level above your character level.

Something something what if for our return to arcavios during the *dragonstorm arc* the elder dragons of Tarkir try to invade other planes and the elder dragons of Arcavios are forced to fight against them? Based on colour combos, the strixhaven dragons would fight the tarkir lords based on the missing colours from the clans they took over
For example
- Ojutai (Jeskai) vs Beledros (Witherbloom)
- Silumgar (Sultai) vs Velomachus (Lorehold)
- Kolaghan (Mardu) vs Tazanir (Quandrix)
- Dromoka (Abzan) vs Galazeth (Prismari)
- Atarka (Temur) vs Shadrix (Silvarquill)
Honestly i wish it was a block formula to have one set on tarkir, one on arcavios and the final one being the end confrontation. Itd be funny if the strixhaven founders weaponised their students to fight to liberate Tarkir for extra credit or something and this could be a place to see Liliana again because im getting withdrawals
#there you go mtg writing team i dod your job for you <3#rambles#magic the gathering#mtg#strixhaven#tarkir#mtg theory#mtg speculation#please this would be so good i need to see this stuff#and also embose killian and liliana again

New Faces In Familiar Places Runners Up!!
Conrad, Errant Wolfir by @bergdg
This design is certainly quite pushed, it’s at minimum a 2 mana 3/3 trample that makes your other stuff bigger, and then has even more upside to make itself bigger so it’s never not relevant. If this had been a base 0/0 instead of a base 1/1, I’d be all over it, as is it might be just a biiiit much though, I think. But I still really like it, it’s a very solid design, and I’m not even wholly confident in the claim that it’s too much if I’m being honest though it’s certainly pushed
Hypiros, Battlement Bearer by @misterstingyjack
This is Hypiros, an Akroan giant from Theros in Zendikar. Here, he is acting as a roaming fortress for the Akroans to contend with the shifting landscape of Zendikar after the Akroans were displaced by the Phyrexian invasion. This card synergizes with the ROE level up mechanic as an allusion to the Akroans training up their forces in this roving fortress, with the copy ability keeping your level up engine going.
This certainly seems like a fun level up commander. It’s a lot of value, but only with niche cards. I like how the token creation lets you do more of the level up thing when the first ability makes it easier. I don’t think “mode” would be the word used here though, it’d probably just say level.
Özgür, Oriq Anoik by @nine-effing-hells
Özgür is an ainok once of the Dromoka who joined a clandestine rebellion against the dragonlord. Accidentally, he found himself on Arcavios, learning about Strixhaven and its leadership from his first friend on the plane—and when he expressed his dismay, his friend just so happened to have some other friends he thought Özgür should meet…
Yeah a tarkir native would react pretty badly to strixhaven, huh? I like the vision. I also like the simple use of mechanics, magecraft- bolster is a great expression of what’s going on here flavorfully. Good stuff, though it probably wants reminder text.

“…Evolve, and hunt again. Join me, Baihir!”
“No, Benzir, I will not.”
“What?”
The two ainok confronted each other on the temple steps. The Phyrexian hound took several long, clanking steps down towards his incompleat sibling. The younger hound held his ground, even as his brother extended an outstretched paw dripping with a dark, viscous liquid.
“Surely you no longer believe that dogma Dromoka spews. She talks of family, of unity, while she lords over us. You were always the smarter of us two, and even I managed to grow wise to her drivel. Join me, and together we shall replace her empire with something truly great!”
“I wish I could, brother,” Baihir sighed. “And, I agree wholeheartedly about our dragonlord’s hypocrisy. But…I still will not fight.”
Benzir swiftly swiped his free claw out to his side in frustration. Then, after a brief pause, a palm tree to the side of the stairs bent over, cleanly sliced in half.
“Why? TELL ME!”
“Because…” Baihir clenched his paws. “If I join you, I’ll have to fight the other khans. My bond-kin. If I stand against you, I’ll have to fight my own brother! My family! Either path would kill me, regardless of the outcome. I beg of you, do not force me to choose!”
“You…”
Benzir took the final step down to stand level with his brother. Even so, the added height from his transformation let him tower over Baihir, who could now only stare silently up at him.
“…Run.”
Benzir’s command was whisper-quiet.
“Brother, you…Thank-”
“I see now! You are too weak for even the glory of Phyrexia to help you! Begone…cur! BEGONE!”
“Brother, wait! We can…”
“We cannot. You…can…”
Benzir’s synthetic voice hitched as he swung his blade, hitting only air but forcing Baihir to retreat downwards. Conveniently, Baihir reached the bottom of the steps just as a group of Phyrexian reinforcements appeared at the top. The new arrivals began descending the staircase, only for Benzir’s massive frame to slow them as Baihir fled into the desert.
[The DFC depicts a transformation, but the two names in the flavor text are different?]

Ok so if I wanna get back into doing stuff with my OC’s I gotta like, figure out what they’re doing xD
Trying to lay some groundwork for Rhynn here.
Post War of the Spark— Not doing great. Lots of survivor’s guilt and blaming herself for being a planeswalker and wondering if she hurt Ravnica while being there. (Obviously not her fault but worrying it is) Her Ravnica friend group is trying to help but she’s being a bit flighty. Ayden (to my knowledge, if this is still @connoissuer-of-fine-vines intentions) went off to Theros without saying bye in person (he is also obviously dealing with shit).
Elrick convinces (low key forces) her to take a vacation away from Ravnica so she can get some distance from the situation. She does a blind jump and winds up on Perenia (my fan plan). Ends up meeting Helis (Fanwalker from Perenia. He wound up on Ravnica during the war and Did Not Care For That). They end up befriending each other (and being into each other 👀). I’m working on this story and have the first chapter out on tumblr. I’ve got some overall ideas how their time on Perenia goes, including some fun CONFLICT.
Rhynn and Helis end up going back to Ravnica (Rhynn had to do much convincing, Helis really didn’t want to go back there). If timing is still right Ayden is also returning to Ravnica around this time, also with new powers in tow (👀). Elrick recommends they go study magic an Strixhaven. The Gang Goes To School.
This is where timing gets funky. Cause like they have to be able to apply/get into the school and actually start studying. How long are they there before they really can pick colleges? I want Rhynn to study a little at Quandrix but also, surprisingly, mostly at Witherbloom. Life and healing magic is something she already knows a lot about. Learning more about potions/poisons is something she’s intrigued by because of Elrick. But I also want this to be a good time for her to confront her fear of necromancy. Really embracing the circle of life and death in magic. I don’t think she’ll ever be a necromancer but learning to use life force magic could be beneficial. I want her to meet Witherbloom (big life/death dragon for the Dromoka Tarkir native yes please). Low key I actually would really like if Liliana became a pseudo mentor to her while she was there. So far I’ve managed to avoid too much interaction with canon characters but hey what’s the fun in that 😅 We also had an idea for my other fanwalker Tali to be there and be an antagonist of sorts. Never got fully fleshed out though.
Back to weird timing. The phyrexian invasion is coming up and I haven’t decided where I want Rhynn to be for that. She visits Ravnica frequently and I know the Gatewatch recruited walkers there. They would know of Rhynn at least because of the WotS. And let’s be real, they could use more healers in the Gatewatch. And after WotS Rhynn really would want to help against interplanar threats. So it feels like her being recruited makes sense. Again though, that’s reeeeeally putting her into the real plot. She could easily just not be at Ravnica while people come recruiting. And tbh Elrick would NOT tell her cause he doesn’t want her running off and doing a self-sacrifice.
So! I gotta decide, insert Rhynn into the plot or nah. I think she would probably stay behind on Dominaria as like a field medic or something maybe. She might try to go to Phyrexia but I think it would scare her too much and she wouldn’t want to compromise the team. Also I keep going back and forth on if her empathic abilities would help her detect phyrexian sleeper agents or not. Feels potentially OP but not necessarily impossible. But if Jace couldn’t detect sleeper agents, then she probably couldn’t. Telepathy and empathy are different but like she’s not on his level at that.
Now post invasion. I can’t decide if she’s losing her spark or not. Narratively it could be interesting. Especially since her adopted father is a planeswalker who lost his spark before they even met. But idk I like her having it just for fun reasons. Also deciding if Elrick would want to leave Ravnica now that there are Omenpaths. Myree would love exploring but I think Elrick would be nervous leading his teenage daughter around into unknown dangers. Plus he’s made a certain amount of peace with losing his spark and not leaving Ravnica. But seeing Fiora again… showing it to Rhynn and Myree…. Hmmmmmm Dx But he loves his house and what he’s built there.
Anyway I basically have to decide if/which of my walkers are losing their sparks. Where everyone was during the invasion (lol I’m too wimpy to compleat anyone or kill anyone off). Then I can catch everyone up to the plot. Hopefully before Tarkir. I actually WAS going to make some Tarkir dragon walker OCs to kickstart my own return to Tarkir but now I wanna see how they’re gonna do it xD Might still make those characters tho….
And my planebound OCs! Will they want to leave Ravnica???? I just don’t know :O
Anyway if you made it this far in the ramblings you should go get yourself a tasty treat. Just getting my thoughts out there xD
#tabby talks#tabby’s ocs#what are those crazy kids up to#i just wanna write a love story with Rhynn and Helis….. maybe….. sorta#ok maybe it would just be a backdrop but it would still be cute#AHHHHHH

What are some of the differences between average abzan life and a member of clan dromoka is it just the kin-tree and necromancy thing
Also under Dromoka families are split up. They're more 'these are the non-dragons who serve under a specific dragon'. Basically kids are raised communally away from parents, and those kinds of ties are discouraged with a focus on the community first.
