Snippet from my Drinny Fall Fest 2024 fic.

Malfoy gasps, a hand clasping at his chest, a posture that looks awfully endearing in his massive frame. “I do not snort, Ginny.”

“Aha! You can say my name correctly.”

“I never said I couldn’t.”

“So you just like being difficult.”

Malfoy takes a step into Ginny’s space. The air around her shifts, and she finds herself shrouded in a rich, smoky aroma of sandalwood and vetiver that has the outer edges of her mind fading into haze.

“I can be easy, if you like,” he says, his voice sounding so much like it did when he'd laughed – low with a rich timbre that sends a shiver down Ginny's spine – “but something tells me you'd find that entirely too boring.”

“There’s no rule stating we can’t work wherever we like–just that we have to stay within the boundaries of the pumpkin patch,” he said with a smug tilt of his chin. “There’s nothing stopping you from moving elsewhere. This space just so happens to have the optimal amount of sunlight.”

“Why should I be the one to move when it’s you crowding me?” she replied in disbelief. Still, she looked around, hoping to find an open spot. To her dismay, the number of participants seemed to only have increased. Chances of her finding anything better than what she already had were slim.

Brush crunched underfoot as she stomped over to the two pumpkins. Using her wand, she scored a line deep into the dirt between them. “You’ll stay on your side if you know what’s good for you, Malfoy,” she sneered.

 “For once, I agree.” He sniffed haughtily, before circling around to the farthest side possible.

So how many of my drinny mutuals are reading this masterpiece??

I literally cannot recommend this fic enough! It’s a masterpiece. The author is updating it regularly and the slow burn is truly off the charts. Chemistry is oozing!

To top it all off the world building is insane! It’s set in a universe where Harry doesn’t exist, or at least there was no chosen one to stop Voldemort and Voldemort has already died after creating a world based on blood purity.

The descendants of 13 “Sacred” pure blood families who originally helped Voldemort in gain power are running the world. Draco is obviously the top 1 % and Ginny’s the descendant of Blood Traitors.

If you all get a chance please read it! There’s resistance too, in the form of Order but they’re mostly secretly operating. I don’t think I am doing justice to how engaging this fic is. Please read the fic rather than reading my inadequate attempts at explaining this masterpiece!

He sank his head in the curve of her neck. “Oh gods,” he whispered. “You did it. You really did it, Ginny.” “You can’t have seriously thought that I wouldn’t,” she said. He shuddered. “I didn’t know.” No, she thought, he really didn’t. There was so little trust in him. He didn’t really even trust her. She stroked his back in soothing motions, feeling how tense and stiff he was. “You can’t take it back now,” he said, trying to laugh. “I don’t want to.” “Why did you do it, Ginny?” he asked. “Why did you vow yourself to me?” “You honestly don’t know?” she asked. He didn’t answer. “Because I love you,” she said. And for one breathless moment, she was not quite sure that he believed her at all.

**WHAT:** The Draco/Ginny Fic Fest 3.0 is the Nth annual writing fest devoted solely to the romantic pairing of Draco Malfoy and Ginny Weasley! Look, TBH, I don’t even know how many there have been. But it’s a big number. And I really want to keep this exchange alive. Our fandom ship has been sailing for a long time, and I want us to keep it afloat!

**WHO:** Anyone can join! Current, former, or even brand new writers are welcome as long as you have an AO3 account! Don’t have an AO3 account? Contact mod Anise / Realanise to receive an invitation to join. Don’t want to write but still want to participate? We seriously need prompters and readers/reviewers too!

**WHEN:** The fest dates are as follows:

- Prompt submissions: June 21st-July 5th

- Prompt claiming and writing: July 6th -August 20th

- Submissions due: August 26th
