So how many of my drinny mutuals are reading this masterpiece??

I literally cannot recommend this fic enough! It’s a masterpiece. The author is updating it regularly and the slow burn is truly off the charts. Chemistry is oozing!

To top it all off the world building is insane! It’s set in a universe where Harry doesn’t exist, or at least there was no chosen one to stop Voldemort and Voldemort has already died after creating a world based on blood purity.

The descendants of 13 “Sacred” pure blood families who originally helped Voldemort in gain power are running the world. Draco is obviously the top 1 % and Ginny’s the descendant of Blood Traitors.

If you all get a chance please read it! There’s resistance too, in the form of Order but they’re mostly secretly operating. I don’t think I am doing justice to how engaging this fic is. Please read the fic rather than reading my inadequate attempts at explaining this masterpiece!

Surprise! Here's chapter 9 of Through a Long and Sleepless Night!

Pairing: Draco Malfoy/Ginny Weasley

Rating: T for language and innuendo

Summary: He chanced upon it much like the others did. By simply wandering about the streets of Dublin; somewhat safe from the bloody awful mess he created back home. A portal that led to a place where every dream became reality. As if that wasn't strange enough, why was Ginny Weasley the only person he could interact with during these dreams?

Chapter Snippet: He took a step forward to make his way to the front door when a side door burst open, allowing for what sounded like a herd of wild animals to stampede through.

He heard an almost shrill, high-pitched giggle emanate from the front of the pack and that’s when he saw her.

She was tiny, not quite the lanky girl he was used to seeing, but it was unmistakably her. She confidently strode in front of the pack, wiping away stray hairs that wouldn’t stay locked into her messy ponytail. She already had scuffs on her knees and he thought he saw a missing tooth on her top row, but there was no mistaking the crimson locks glowing in the afternoon sunlight.

I loved this artwork so much, I wrote a drabble for it!!!

Draco wasn’t sure how he’d seen her from such a distance. Flying high above the stands of Hogwarts’ Quidditch pitch, he had the best view of the grounds, the castle, the lake, and the edge of the Forbidden Forest. The sun was starting to set, casting a rich honey glow over the landscape. The light must have been angled just right because a glint of gold drew his attention to Ginny Weasley’s hair as she snuck into the forest alone.

Nothing about her movements were particularly sneaky as far as he could tell, but students were, well, forbidden to enter the forest unattended.

Draco abandoned his solo flight to follow her. He landed on the ground just outside of Hagrid’s—what was a polite way to say this—rustic abode. His broom would probably be safe in the groundskeeper’s care; it wasn’t like Hagrid could ride it anyway. So Draco stashed his broom outside the patch of pumpkins that would soon be turned into Jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin pasties and pumpkin juice for the Halloween feast.

He hurried into the line of trees and hoped he would pick up Weasley’s trail easily. That setting sunlight filtered through the leaves, hitting the ground like spotlights with tiny bugs and floating dust particles lit up by the glow. The sun worked in Draco’s favor because he saw a glimpse of the iconic Weasley red hair glinting in the light from between the trunks.

He followed while trying to keep his footsteps light, his breathing even, so as not to alert her to her stalker. When she sped up, so did he; when she stopped to observe a shrub, he hid behind a tree. This went on for so long, it was a wonder it hadn’t grown dark yet. After a while, Draco started to suspect she was leading him in circles.

As soon as he thought it, he lost her, as if she’d silently, impossibly, Apparated out of the Forbidden Forest.

Draco’s heart was pounding in his chest from the excitement of the chase, and now it pounded with dread from being left alone in the forest. He spun in a circle, looking for the way out or a path of some sort and hoped a centaur—or something worse—didn’t find him first.

Of course, this is when the sunlight began to wane, the spotlights of sunbeams growing smaller.

When the tension began to sizzle under his skin, prickling the back of his neck, he was tackled from behind by a red headed witch with a glinting laugh.

Draco tugged her off him, keeping her restrained with a tight grip on her upper arms. She was remorseless, laughing at the clear fear in his eyes with that irresistible sparkle in hers.

“Gotcha,” she said with a self-satisfied smirk she had learned from him.

Draco was afraid his heart would give out, but his relief at her presence kept the muscle beating in his chest.

“What are you doing out here?” he asked. His relief was starting to turn into anger. His jaws and his grip on her both tightened.

“Luring you into the forest. What else?”

"For what purpose?"

But from the look in her eye, he already knew. His suspicion was only confirmed when she said, "This," in a low voice and used his grasp on her arms to tug him closer.

Their lips touched, and Draco let go of her immediately, only to wrap his arms around her body, keeping her close, keeping her warm. The growing darkness hid them from prying eyes. There was no more perfect place for forbidden love to meet than in the Forbidden Forest.

Draco felt her smile against his mouth, so he kissed her until she was too breathless for smiles. When she finally pulled away, he rested his forehead on hers and breathed in tandem.

The sunlight was perfect and so was she. That glint he so loved danced in her eyes as the honeyed light faded, illuminating their secrets, but only for one more moment.

Really, REALLY good article that helps put a lot of the shit I've been seeing lately into perspective, along with highlighting the weird intersectionality and social concepts that inform transmasculine issues and why they're difficult to discuss (and also makes me glad that I've like...rarely ever seen any of the Toxic Transmasculinity this article talks about holy hell)
