So, I have been playing dota 2 for the last 11 years and...

There's this piece of lore between two characters, Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit that has always fascinated me because the ANGST is... unmatched.

So, they basically knew each other before the whole coup, he had feelings for her, but he couldn't save her when everything happened because he wasn't aware of her sister's plans. And now, there's nothing he can do because his powers are sealed to the queen he serves.

FEEL THE ANGST.

There's also lines that can be triggered during certain events on the game, like meeting an ally or killing an hero, but most important of all, it's very interesting way to understand the relationship between 2 characters. These are Vengeful Spirit lines when killing Dragonus:

Like... She hates him. She truly believes he knew about the coup and didn't do anything to help her, when in reality, he truly didn't know.

I started to play dota 2 in 2013 and, as a good fangirl that I am, of course these two picked my interest because LOOK AT THIS. So tragic. So much potential.

And then, in the year of our Lord 2024, Valve decided to launch a game event with items, game modes, blabla, AND A COMIC that basically continues Venge and Sky story. Link is here: https://www.dota2.com/crownfall/comic

OMG I WON SO MUCH TODAY, GUYS. I'm sure no one cares about Dota 2 lore but I just needed to share with the world HOW MUCH I WON TODAY.

(Why all the hate lines for him? I don't know, maybe Dragonus managed to talk to Shendel along the way and they have been together since then? Maybe she's faking because she doesn't want her sister to kill her lover? So many theories OMG.)

And best thing is: the story will continue through the next months. There will be other comics, other pieces of lore. If you know Valve, you know how much this means because they're literally not very aware of the potential dota 2 lore has. So, yeah, this is huge.

Mighty Ducks the Animated Series Headcanons

GOOD GUYS

Wildwing: Bi, Aromatic. Type, Canard & Tanya. His heart belongs to his childhood best friend Canard, but I think Tanya could’ve made him happy too, if you want to go that route.

Canard: Gay. Type, Wildwing. It’s always been Wildwing. He thinks he’s being subtle but everyone can see it, except Wildwing of course.🙄😑🤷🏻‍♀️

Nosedive: Straight, but open minded if the right guy came along. Type, he thinks it’s “gorgeous and sexy” (typical teenage boy), but it’s really “fun and quirky”. So basically thinks it’s Lucretia when it’s actually Tanya lol. For guys, someone caring and wise like Duke or Grin, but they’re too old for him, so they’re just friends.

Duke: Pan with a female preference. I blame Falcone for scaring him emotionally and making him hesitant to try men again. He is a little attracted to Wildwing but there’s the age difference and the whole he’s the leader thing, it’d be too much drama.

Tanya: Same scenario as Duke, Pan with a preference for males, because Lucretia messed with her head and heart so badly in the past. She keeps herself busy so she has an excuse not to try again.

Grin: Ace. Ace-est of the Ace. King of Aces. Ace-Zilla. Mountain of Ace. You get the idea.

Mallory: Straight as she shoots. I like to think she had a little crush on Canard back in the day but it was really just misinterpreted respect and admiration. She’s subconsciously attracted to “bad boys” (*cough*Duke*cough*).

Thrash: Pan, Asexual. In a polygamist relationship with his two roommates, one guy and one gal.

Mookie: Lesbian with a steady live-in girlfriend she’s been dating since Junior High. If they ever broke up, Mookie would ugly-cry.

Phil: Closet Gay. Not even the Ducks know. He dates but only when out of town and eventually all his relationships end sadly, because of his unwillingness to be open about them. He’s worried being outed will ruin his business aspersions (keep in mind, the show was set in mid to late nineties after all, things were even harder for the LGBTQA+ community back then, especially in California).

Captain Kleghorn: Straight, widower turned voluntary bachelor. He has lady friends he invites to important events and goes dancing with, but it’s very clearly a “just as friends” thing for lonely seniors.

BAD GUYS

Lucretia: Lesbian, but knows she’s extremely attractive to most people with an interest in females and uses it to her full advantage. Seduces for fun and/or profit. Curses herself for actually falling for Tanya, because that ship has not only sailed, it sank a LONG time ago.

Falcone: The term “Disaster Gay” looks like a tailored made suit on this fella. He’s still down to F, but Duke ain’t stupid. Not happening, nope!

Dragonus: Gay. I mean, come on! Tim Curry is his voice actor, that accent is too delicious to waste on Heterosexuality lol. Dragonus was extremely popular on his homeworld but his egotism and violent streak ruined all his relationships.

Wrath: Ace by choice. Tony Jay made him sound just so done with the universe in general lol! I headcannon that Wrath is so old, he’s seen and done everything and has better things to do with his time than date.

Chameleon: Pan. I tend to think all shapeshifters are Pan. I mean, when you literally can become ANYTHING… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like to think he has a little crush on Siege, but the big bulldozer is too stupid to notice, and Chameleon is ok with that.

Siege: Straight, but he’s an idiot, so he’s got no game.😛

SHIPS

Wildwing/Canard. They’ve been in love since they were Ducklings, but both we’re afraid of ruining their friendship, so they dated other people. Eventually they got themselves in a row (get it? Because they’re Ducks? 🦆😜) and end up together. No one is surprised.🙄😑😅 Ship names preference is Team Captains, but I also like Leadership, always was a sucker for a good pun.😁👍🏼

Nosedive/Tanya: No one saw this coming, not even them, but it oddly works so well for them. Like an opposites attract kind of thing. Grin calls it “Karmic Convergence”, which makes protective big brother Wildwing very uncomfortable lol! 😅 Duke and Mallory are also protective of Tanya, whom Duke thinks of as a little sister and Mal as her best friend, so there’s a lot of “Shovel Talking” going on at first. Grin and Canard just try to stay out of it but privately approve of how the couple balance each other out. I’ve never heard a ship name for them, so I’m inventing VanderFlash, a combo of their family names, Vanderflock and Flashblade. It just sounds cool.🤷🏻‍♀️😅

Duke/Mallory: Blatant “Hostility is actually Mutual Reluctant Attraction” if I ever saw it. Practically canon. They, like Nosedive and Tanya, are opposites who attract, except Duke and Mal are chaotic lol! Again, I can’t recall any ship names. Please educate me if you know any really good ones💜😊😘

We all know the Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus are mountain sized monsters. But it would take an absured amount of food too keep them alive, so I am inclined to believe that the have an alternate way to get nutrients. Two possible theories I have is is that they A soak up micronutrients in the water or B they can photosynthesise

I really like the game's descriptions of the dark eyes that runs in the Erebis family, how Xioni Erebis' eyes are darker than the night sky. Kibellah's own eyes were described as dark multiple times in the game up to that point, so the moment the Erebises showed up on Dragonus with those eyes and the same yee yee ass haircut... I pieced things together pretty quickly...

Rogue Trader - Heinrix romance - flirting differences (devil vs. closeness)

With Heinrix you can either flirt aggressively with him which will increase the "devil" counter or you are doing no or very light flirting which will increase the "closeness" counter. This affects in some cases his dialog.

Act 1 - First talk after he is recruited

Devil:

Two options for Devil - one at the start and one later. Both start the romance. The second one ("A little more..." excludes the closeness option.

Closeness:

Starts the romance. This option excludes the devil option "A little more...."

You can also start his romance by talking to him on the bridge after his recruitment. Both options start his romance but doesn't seem to count for the devil or closeness counter.

2. Act 2 - Footfall, when Heinrix returns (at the docks)

Both options can be taken, they do not exclude each other.

Devil:

Closeness:

3. Act 2 - Janus after dealing with the Governor / end of main quest

Devil:

With 3 devil points (or more) before starting the talk you get another response from him:

After this devil option there is another one available (excludes the closeness and corruption point options)

Closeness:

This option exludes the devil and corruption point options

There is also an option to increase his corruption counter (if you want him to leave the inquisition). It does not increase devil/closeness counters.

3. Act 2 - Conversation after his personal quest (in Kiava Gamma) is finished

Devil:

This line excludes the closeness option on top ("You can relate of course..."

The question regarding his romantic preferences has two versions.

If you have less than 3 devil points you get this answer:

If you have at least 3 devil points you get this one:

If you move to the regicide board you have additional options.

This one exludes the other two options that allow you to play regicide with him - so if you take this line you won't be able to do that unfortuantely.

If you have 4 or more devil points you can get a different ending talk with him for this scene (also works with "Running away, are you?")

Closeness:

First dialog option ("You can relate...") counts as closeness and unlocks other dialog for the second closeness option

The "Tell me a secret" line counts as closeness and the answer depends on if you took the first closeness option (in this case you get +2 closeness points)

or not (and you get only + 1 closeness point)

Another closeness option hides behind the question for his favourite food - if you use the smile option it increases the closeness counter

At the regicide board you can have a different ending dialog with him if you have at least 4 closeness points with him:

4. Act 2 - Dragonus ceremony talk

Devil:

Excludes the closeness option

And here seems to be a bug - kissing Heinrix does not increase the devil counter as one would expect, but instead holding his hands:

Closeness:

Excludes the first devil option

5. Act 3 - Start talking with him on the bridge about what happened at the ceremony

Devil:

There are only two devil responses here - I think this is another bug.

I will update this post if I find more, but the later (romance) scenes with him doesn't really seem to use the devil/closeness counters anymore.

Addition

-> You can use the toybox mod (on PC) to check the devil/closeness counters and to change them (or for other things, like seeing dialog options even if you do not meet the criteria or reset your skill points...)

(Mod on Nexusmods), install as instructed.

In game e.g. during dialog press CTRL + F10

For the devil/closeness counters go to "Search 'n Pick" tab and on the left side to "Flags". You can search for "Heinrix_R" to show his romance flags and change the values (don't forget to save before closing the toybox screen)
