Other than the blatant sexism of it, I think part of why it bothers me so much that Valka was reduced to 'Mother figure' in the third movie because I've always felt that despite their efforts, Hiccup will probably never genuinely see Valka as a mother figure since she didn't actually raise him and he's an adult by the time they meet. Like yes, of course he knows she's his mom but they don't have that kind of relationship and likely never will.
I've always thought this based on a few things, mostly when she apologizes and says "can you give me another chance" because all Hiccup does in response is smile sadly, he never verbally forgives her (that I can remember) so she immediately starts going on about how she can teach him about dragons and that's what connects them, but very little else because they don't actually know each other (And it's so sad because you can tell Valka's trying so hard, she loves Hiccup and he loves her but no amount of talking about dragons will make up for two decades of absence).
The other main thing that I think about with this is that cut footage from when Valka was still planned to be the antagonist, where Hiccup says: "fine! I guess I kinda like the idea of having a mom, alright?" Despite being scrapped, it ties in well with how excited he was for them to all be a family again when Stoick shows up because that excitement is definitely based on the very unrealistic, idealized version of what a 'complete' family is, what Hiccup didn't get to grow up with but probably fantasized about having.
I think the way circumstances kind of forced Hiccup and Valka together could've been really interesting to explore, them mourning Stoick together, exchanging stories about him, Hiccup actually getting to know her outside of the very surface level 'expert dragon lady'. I think Gobber could've really helped with this, bridging the gap between them since he actually knew Valka and has known Hiccup for his entire life (and has experience doing this exact thing with Hiccup and Stoick years ago).
The single year between httyd2 and thw would definitely not have been long enough for it, but I think after a while Hiccup and Valka could be good friends. But they'll never be as close as they could've been and they both know that.

Can you imagine Rook going back to a semi-normal life after killing Elgar'nan? Maybe Solas kept his word, sealed the Fade, and hasn't been seen for a long while.
Rook - Hero, Head of the Veilguard, God-Killer - settles down with their Romanced and maybe has a couple of kids. People still celebrate them. People sing praises, but these kids know Rook as Mom/Dad/Parent. "My parents saved the world? Well, they grounded me, so they suck."
And this humbles Rook. Real Fast.
They love their children so fucking much and their kids prevent them from their ego getting enormous.

This is my second Rook! I used the same face because I loved it but this Rook is mostly purple Rook until it’s really serious.
His name is Matteo De Riva and he’s an Antivan Crow. He was found as a child by the De Riva House and was raised by Viago. He’s like a son to Viago and despite being a constant source of frustration to Viago, he cares about him.
He’s romancing Lucanis again because I love him and Spite and the three of them are very happy together.

Would it be wrong of me to make a girldad!Otto Hightower agenda like certain people do with Daem*n?
Just hear me out!
-Otto has several sons but he's always wanted a daughter contrary to other noble men who want sons & put there wife though hell for one
-Otto has always wanted a daughter when Alicent was born he wouldn't leave her nursery unless there was an emergency his wife [redacted] had to drag him out so he could do his job
-He brought baby Alicent to a council meeting once when his wife was sick and there were no nurses on call and just kept doing so cause beesberry would talk less with her around
-he doesn't understand the language of girls but he tries too despite Alicent telling him he doesn't have to she understands what he means
-one of the reasons he hates Daemon so much is because he made some inappropriate comments about and around Alicent and his wife [Redacted]
-from ages three to twelve he would throw Alicent really elaborate nameday parties with tourneys and dinners
-he used to sing Alicent to sleep when she was a baby and sung to her after her mom died
-Alicent heard stories about his knighthood and spent an entire year trying to convince him to knight her so she could be like him
-him and Aemma used to have tea parties with Rhaenyra and Alicent (Aemma and him made a bet that ended up with him in a dress and a tiara)
-he wore his wife wedding ring after her death but when he hear Alicent crying about not having anything left of her mother he gave her the ring and his aswell so she could feel closer to her mom

Valentia's 10k years (or so) of lore + extras
Thinking about FE15 and how it shits hard on Duma at the cost of its own coherency :
We have the official timeline :
In 307, Duma starts to lose his sanity (but it's a gradual process?)
Year 374 Emperor Rigel III of Rigel appointed Rudolf as his successor; Rudolf I’s coronation. Following his ascension, the young Emperor Rudolf met with the War Father at Duma Temple. During this time, it is said that Rudolf sensed Duma’s disturbing descent into madness. Rudolf pledged dominion of Valentia to Duma. However, he did not specify the time of invasion; instead, he ruled while promising to prepare for war. Thereafter, in order to convince Duma of his intent to conquer Zofia, he bolstered the Rigelian army’s armaments. Note: Around this time, it seems Duma had already lost most of his sanity. Defeating Mila’s scions, urging Rigel to conquer Valentia–one could say Duma was trapped in an obsession of making the entire world belong to him. Note: To be able to stand up to a mad god and his delusions, Rudolf I must have put up a brave face.
Rudy is the new Emperor and meets Duma.
Rudy guess Duma's turning mad but he... pledges dominion over Valentia and to conquer Zofia because... ?
Duma lost his sanity because he accepts Rudy's plan to defeat Mila's scion and urges him to conquer Valentia ? But why Rudy needed to "convince" Duma that he wanted to conquer Zofia?
Why did he need Duma's approval?
Otherwise he couldn't be Emperor?
"uwu Rudy was so brave uwu he faced a mad god very uwu"
Year 383 “If the Valentia gods have succumbed to madness… what action can we take?” Rudolf met with Halcyon, the High Priest of the Duma Faithful; Halcyon received a prophecy foretelling Valentia’s spiral into destruction. Only two Brand-bearers, one born in Zofia and another in Rigel, hold the power to free the Valentian continent from the gods’ control–the “Children of Fate”. Around this time, Zofia and Rigel’s diplomatic relationship turned sour. After that, the gap between the two countries widened. Note: Although he held a high position within the Duma Faith, Halcyon was one of the few who was distressed about Duma’s desire to conquer Valentia.
9 years later, so now it's Duma's desire to conquer Valentia? What about Rudy who promised him to do so?
Rudy has Falchion, so... he still believes in the prophecy and does jack shit - I guess he got a kid to whom he will later pass on the responsiblity of dealing with Duma because he can't do it for... reasons?
Jedah, a Duma Cantor offered his daughters Marla and Hestia as live sacrifices to Duma in exchange for Duma’s trust. At this time, the youngest of the three sisters–Sonya–escaped with her sisters’ help. Halcyon, the High Priest of the Duma Faithful, was chased by Jedah who received Duma’s support, and fled to the Lost Treescape. Afterwards, Jedah quickly gained control of the Duma Faithful. Protected by Duma, he transformed the faith into an evil entity. Note: The sudden changes in the Duma Faithful around this time seem inexplicable at first glance. On the contrary, the reasons are not that complicated. Originally a prideful dragon god, the fearsome War Father Duma had lost his sanity. In that case, it explains why the Duma Faithful started researching Terrors and invocations under Jedah’s guidance, and also why Duma started to favour people like Dolth and Nuibaba who put their own desires above all else. With Duma and Jedah’s malevolent ambitions aligning so perfectly, the Duma Faithful quickly became a group of fanatics.
The Faithful only becomes a bunch of fanatical zealots in 383 under Jedah... so what prevented/prevents Rigel's army to rekt Duma?
Also, how come the faitful is now researching Terrors when Terrors only pop up when the Divine Decree is broken?
Year 398 A merchant guild hired mercenaries to cause an uprising at Zofia Harbour. Note: Clive and Fernand act on behalf of the Knights of Zofia. As the poor harvests continued, the Rigelian Empire’s food stockpiles ran out. Rigel requested aid from the Kingdom of Zofia, but Lima IV responded with mockery. Emperor Rudolf of Rigel made the decision to invade Zofia. Beginning of the invasion. Wielding Duma’s Falchion, Rudolf charged into the Temple of Mila. He sealed Mila, fulfilling his pledge to Duma to slay the gods. Since a divine dragon was felled by man, the Divine Accord was broken and Terrors began to sprout all across Valentia.
What promise to slay the gods to Duma? Per this same recollection, Rudy, in 374, only told him he was A-ok with rekting Mila's scion and conquering the world, nothing was said about slaying the gods!
(and if this pledge really existed, then why the fuck didn't he seal Duma first???)
Note: Mila was sealed to protect her from the dragonkin’s fate (madness as a result of near eternal life); this was Duma’s love for his dear sister. Because Duma and Mila traveled from Archanea to Valentia in a very distant past, they were not present when the divine dragons’ ruler, Naga, warned of an “unpreventable demise”, nor did they realise the ancient dragonkin (divine dragons) would slowly lose their sanity. Duma realised he was degenerating and thus it was his wish for man to slay the gods when their time had come. However, as his sanity slipped, that wish became distorted and was replaced with “slay Mila” instead and wanting dominion over Valentia.
Damn it, you're not making any sense
if in 374 Duma lost his sanity, he wouldn't have asked Rudy to slay "gods" but to "slay Mila", so where the fuck does the "he fulfills his promise to slay gods" came from?
Why Duma, who knew he was degenerating, didn't tell his faithful or the various emperors of that time to slay him using Falchion, and only left the task to Rudy - when, per this same recollection, Duma was already too far gone to ask him
Note: It is believed that Duma’s body had already started to rot when he first met with Rudolf; that too was a sign of his madness. Since Mila was younger than Duma, she retained most of her sanity and the appearance of a beautiful divine dragon.
So if Rudy got the "slay gods when they degenerate" memo from Duma himself... and given how advanced Duma's degeneration was, he still... attacked Mila first???
How does this makes any sense?
-> Was Duma cray-cray enough to say "kill Mila", or was he not cray-cray and said "slay the gods when we degenerate" thus Rudy sealing Mila is, rightly, him respecting his oath to Duma?
But Duma is only "too far gone" in 398 when slay the gods becomes slay Mila -> Rudy met him in 374 and promised to defeat Mila's scions...
What the fuck was his promise to Duma?
Tatarrah of the Duma Faithful suggested a plan to destroy Zofia’s breadbasket. By closing the sluice gates at the borders, Zofia would be robbed of its water supply. Eventually, the wall on the Zofian side would collapse and the land would be flooded. This plan was green-lit and the sluice gates were shut.
Who green-lit that plan in 399 ? It can't be Jedah, because the Faithful is only a religious body.
Are we supposed to believe best man Rudy gave his thumbs up at this "plan" ?
Remind me why we're supposed to feel bad about him already?
At Duma Temple, Alm and Celica defeated Duma who had devolved into a Fell God. It is said that with the last of their power, Duma and Mila restored Valentia’s dying land, before entering an eternal slumber.
"when Humanity works together, it doesn't need gods to thrive. But just for this last one time, can you please heal the land? Pretty please?"

As for Duma terminating Thabes...
Chapter 9 The New Folk rapidly advanced thanks to the Old Folk’s wisdom. Eventually, they constructed an extravagant city known as Thabes. Chapter 10 Fearing that the New Folk had amassed too much power, Duma sent soldiers into Thabes. Chapter 11 After 3 long days of battle, the city of Thabes was obliterated and the survivors fled the ruined land.
Duma ruins Thabes because he is afraid of humans amassing too much power.
Mmkay.
“In Thabes lived an alchemist named Forneus, much praised for his genius. In time, he would be feared by all.” “Two matters consumed Forneus, and he spent his life in their pursuit. The first was how to wake the dead and control them as his army. The second was the creation of a singular, perfect being.” “We senators sent forth messengers to Forneus. None returned. Next, the Council dispatched soldiers. Still none returned. Thus, the Council chose to seal Forneus’s workshop with him inside it. The seal they used was made to last until the city crumbled to sand.” “Here lies sealed the workshop of the demon alchemist Forneus.” “The critical component in the death mask is a particular shelled insect. I have come to call these marvels of nature thanatophages. Placed on a cadaver, thanatophages set down roots and assert control.” “At last, blood from a divine dragon! Its power is terrifying. Beautiful.” “The Senate has granted me all I need to craft life anew. I’ve succeeded. At first, it was a tiny thing. But on day 80, I gave it my blood. It grew. Its voice echoes in my head. Dark thoughts. Violent th—”
Forneus was performing his "researches" in Thabes on zombies and used "divine dragon blood" when there was a council/senate in Thabes, so, most likely, before Duma visited the place.
But we are supposed to believe that Duma storming Thabes - because he is afraid humans are gathering too much power - was unaware that humans were indeed trying to create the eldritch abomination that would become Grima?
Like, it's just a coincidence that Duma believes they are creating a weapon when... they are actually creating a weapon/life from zombie insects ??
Act 6 calls Thabes human folly and people drowning in their own magic power... but somehow, Duma was still "punished" for trying to prevent the events of FE13 ?
---
I see Kusakihara's peak Master Piss of story telling here, very reminiscent of FE16's Earl Grey :
Duma BaD
Humans do stupid things but in the end remember it's the dragons, aka Duma who is BaD, for cleaning up after humans
But watch out, we're not sure (ohoho) that Duma terminated humans because humans were creating a zombie dragon, maybe he just wanted to terminate them on a whim, without knowing they were creating an elrditch abomination that will ruin the world 2 000 years later!
Duma's agency and degeneration is advanced enough to make him very BaD, but at the same time, his mind is clear enough when Rudy does the things the "sane Duma" would have wanted him to do.
"Why Rudy didn't seal Duma first if he was so worried about the degeneration and knew it had to be stopped instead of foisiting this task on his newborn" is the prototype of "why Thales doesn't defreeze Nemesis or uses nukes in White Clouds".
Poor Rudy was very sad (tm) to part with his son and very brave to tell the mad MaD god that he was going to conquer Valentia because... he needed to promise Duma he'd do that else... \o/ it's up to you to come up with a reason (especially since Rudy had doubts about Duma's madness and Jedah only came into power 10 years after this meeting!)
Tl;Dr : Duma BaD.

Question for you Story, would you compare both Dante & Vergil to Goku & Vegeta in any way? And what about Evan, who do see her to within the Dragon Ball world?
Buckle up because I've got deep opinions on this.
Actually, there are a lot of similarities with Dante and Goku, but there are way more differences.
Goku is always looking for the next opponent. He wants to get strong so he can fight. He's a goofball for sure, which is a similarity that he and Dante share. To be honest, that is probably where the similarities end. Other than they both have lost their parents at a young age.
Dante has a bit more trauma to sort through. Actually, now that I think about it, Goku doesn't seem to know what trauma is. Dante is self-destructive when it comes to facing things that are deeply personal. His method is to fight it out or possibly drink it out (going by the 2007 anime) but it's not a healthy thing. Dante also does not seek out power, he has to become powerful to take on his foes while Goku is always looking for that extra boost.
Vergil and Vegeta... totally different.
Vergil is a static character. His goal is always the same and he is motivated by the desire to beat Dante. Vegeta is always looking to become stronger than Goku, but he also relies on their rivalry to push forward. However, Vegeta is not static. He goes through his own personal journey that ultimately makes him a better person. Vergil doesn't get that. At the end of DMC5 we really don't know if Vergil has changed, we can assume he does, but it's hard to say. It's really hard to say that Vergil has learned something. I believe he did as he is no longer willing to kill Dante. In Visions of V, I do believe we see a lot of complex emotions and growth in the form of V. I feel that Vergil did change because he is not the same Vergil from DMC3. His growth comes from his time as V.
Vegeta in my eyes has a lot more going for him than Vergil does. In the Buu Saga, we literally see Vegeta blow himself up to take down Majin Buu. It doesn't work, but it's not something Vergil would even stoop to doing. Self sacrifice is something he would see as weak and pathetic especially if it's going to get him killed.
As far as Evan goes... she wants to be as normal as possible but could potentially be as strong as Nero if she was pushed. But unlike Gohan, she isn't pushed to fight like he is. She has a lot in common with Gohan I think. But honestly, she has a pretty good Dad that let's her be. You might want to ask her opinion on this too.
Hope this all makes sense 😊

I still don't understand why some people think that Dan and Phil dislike large swathes of the phandom. They know we're crazy! It's one of the reasons they love us so much! We submitted them to an RPF tournament 114 times and printed out a screenshot of the final poll and sent it in as a fucking preshow question and they reblogged the poll to help us win. They printed us sweatshirts saying legalize catboys and we wore them in public and then, on twitter, we found the normal people who posted about seeing us. We raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and in return they gave each other eyebrow slits live on camera because they know we love to see them embrace edgier looks and touch each other. We told them that they raised us and instead of saying "no we didn't who are you" they apologized for being bad parents and sold us a hat that said "Dan and Phil are my dads." They turned Dan into a golden pig; no one even asked for that! In any way! They just did that! For the memes and the Dragon City sponsorship money! Someone made a post nine years ago about Dan and Phil kissing onstage at a combined MCR/FOB/panic concert and we kept passing that post around and referencing it for nine years, and when they realized MCR and FOB were performing together for the first time in more than a decade, they decided to reenact the post and put it on instagram, tumblr, twitter, and tiktok. We said their Sims 4 outfits were ugly, they made an entire apology video. We shipped them together, they said surprise! Our show is the matchmaking event of the century. They named their show tit. THEY NAMED THEIR SHOW TIT. We're crazy. They're crazy. Together, we've created one of the most unhinged fanbases on the internet. We matched each other's phreak and I think there's something pheautiful about that.
