Incidentally, on the topic of the Majin Buu arc.
FUN FACT: Did you know that Super Saiyan 3 blows?
And also Goku didn't throw that fight. People keep saying Goku threw that fight, but he lost it legitimately.
From the moment Goku broke this out, it was the shit. The ultimate of Super Saiyan forms (unless you'd seen marketing of Super Saiyan 4 because GT was already out by the time Z came to the West.)
Unbelievably powerful, to the point it could make short work even of Majin Buu.
There's. Uh. There's just one problem. One teensy-weensy itsy-bitsy little problem with Super Saiyan 3.
It sucks.
More specifically, it's imperfect. Goku warns that it's a work in progress.
But for all the form's power, it's fatally flawed. Neither Goku nor Gotenks is ever able to accomplish anything with the form because of one critical weakness.
It's a weakness that the Super Saiyan has always had. In addition to heightened berserker-aggression and poor decision-making, the other key drawback of the Super Saiyan is that it bleeds ki - an effect that gets amplified when you break its limits.
This is why Goku and Gohan gave up on breaking the limits of the Super Saiyan, instead opting to train their bodies to acclimate to the form instead. By training themselves to normalize the Super Saiyan, they eliminated its drawbacks - both the heightened aggression and the bleeding effect.
Ever the martial artist, Goku recognized that there's more to fighting than raw strength and chose not to step into the pitfall of "HAHAHA Look how HARD I can punch now!" that both Trunks and to a lesser extent Vegeta blindly ran into. Instead, he refined his technique and eliminated his weaknesses.
Which brings us. To the problem. Of him not having done that with Super Saiyan 3. By his admission, this is basically some prototype shit he cooked up yesterday that he hasn't had time to work the kinks out of.
Which. Is an issue. Because the kinks make themselves known throughout the arc. They make themselves very known. The biggest problem being that holy shit, this form bleeds ki so hard that it's basically useless.
The mega-amplification of the Super Saiyan's bleeding effect first makes itself known when it chews through the time Goku has on his free vacation pass from death.
Goku initially attributes this problem to the mortal world itself. It's fine if you do it in the heavenly realms but it bleeds ki too hard if you do it on Earth.
Unfortunately, Goten and Trunks borrow this idea from him and try it out for themselves. It goes about as well. It's all fun and games, and they dominate the fight until the bleeding effect drains every last ounce of ki they have and kick them out helplessly into base form.
Which brings us to the form's main event. Confronting Pure Buu on the world of the Kaioshins, Goku's initially cocky that Super Saiyan 3 will waste him. He brags that he could have taken Fat Buu in this form if he'd wanted to.
And. Like. Of course he's cocky. Why wouldn't he be? The bleeding effect is only a problem in the mortal world. They're in the heavenly realms right now. This isn't going to be a problem at a--
Oh. Never mind, Goku's having a hell of a time with Buu.
This is where the pop culture understanding of this fight takes a turn. It's commonly believed that Goku threw this fight because he wanted to let Vegeta have a turn.
That's. Not. What happened here. Rather, Goku's problem, or what Goku thinks is his problem, is that Buu's relentless assault isn't giving him breathing room to build his ki. He's having to fight constantly on the backfoot, unable to use the immense power of Super Saiyan 3 to its full potential.
This sets up a Dragon Ball classic: Vegeta has to hold the line while Goku charges up enough power to wipe out Majin Buu with an all-powerful super attack. Vegeta throws himself into it with gusto.
But Goku miscalculated.
Even with breathing room to spare, Goku still can't build his ki. Because his problem isn't the relentless assault.
It's the bleeding effect.
Because the problem isn't just that it bleeds ki too fast in the mortal world. It also bleeds ki too fast in a mortal body.
Goku never could have beaten Buu with this unpolished technique. He did not throw the fight. He gave it everything he had, and he failed. Maybe he could have taken Fat Buu with it. But even then, we only have his overconfident word for it and as we see here, he's vastly underestimated the form's drawbacks.
Super Saiyan 3 is a poorly-tested prototype that screwed every single person who ever used it. Goku was right when he said that the regular Super Saiyan is best.

Things that are canon in Dragon Ball Z Abridged but NOT in actual Dragon Ball Z (Part 5)
~ Buu Saga Addition PART 2 ~
Dende has major insecurities about Gohan being with Videl.
Bababi is the one who came up with the idea of calling them Super Saiyans 2 & 3. Goku finds those names boring and prefers to call them “Super Duber Saiyan” and “Super De-Duber Saiyan”.
Piccolo refers to Gotanks as “Truten”.
Trunks sees Nappa as his uncle (looks like he’s babysat and spent time with Trunks so often that Nappa’s considered family).
Nappa died of a “stroke” (RIP Nappa)
Vegeta and Nappa reunited as ghosts thanks to Gotank’s Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. Vegeta was horrified, Nappa was so happy.
Super Buu can make the people he’s absorb speak through his body, he used this fucked up trick to mock Gohan and torment him using Piccolo, Goten and Trunks’ voices, crying out to him as they suffer inside Buu.
Super Buu ate the Uber Eats delivery guy.
Also Uber Eats and Doordash exist in the abridged world.
Vegito can not psychically say “Goku”. His Vegeta side will not allow it. This becomes such a problem that Vegito puts his fight with Buu on hold just to argue with himself about this debate!
Goku doesn’t really seem to care about Dende and just sees him as the the literal dragon balls guy. If he wasn’t tied to the dragon balls, Goku would’ve most likely have let him die.
After Dende tells Mr Satan that his daughter is a “man stealing whore”, Satan agrees stating Videl is “just like her mother”. What was Videl’s mother like???
Vegeta is REALLY pissed at Goku for not saving Gohan and refuses to let it go (we are all with ya Geets!).
Goku didn’t use the spirit bomb technique on Perfect Cell because he “knew it wasn’t going to work”.
“Vegeta’s stuff” = Bulma & Trunks
Mr Popo is the reason Goku’s spirit bomb was able to gain so much energy to destroy Kid Buu, and that was only Mr Popo lifting up ONE of his arms. How much power would’ve Goku been given if Mr Popo lifted up both arms???!! This also means that he could’ve easily obliterated Kid Buu but chose not to.
It’s insinuated that both versions of Broly (Z and Super) coexist in the abridged universe.
Trunks’ blue hair in Super was just a phase of him dying it before returning back to his natural lilac color by end of Z.
No one wants to talk about Jiren.
Goku is well aware of GT and what it’ll do to his granddaughter’s character.
Bulma uses her money to help provide for Uub’s family while he’s away training with Goku.
Chichi and Gohan are chill with Goku leaving them to train Uub (it’s Goku, they’re not surprised).
Boob

Haunted Memories and Broken Dreams (slight Vegeta x Saiyan!reader)
Slight AU where Bulma never went to Namek with Krillin and Gohan. Gender Neutral piece so imagine yourself as you please :)
Notes: I wrote this in an hour, it’s late at night so please excuse any grammar or other issues. I just wanted to get it out of my system. It’s what I think someone like Raditz would have to contend with if he’d lived & watched Vegeta destroy Nappa.
It had been a little over a year since the battle against Kakarot. Following Prince Vegeta, you had travelled with him and Nappa to find the Dragon Balls Raditz’s killer had unwittingly informed you of. You’d met the Namekian, Piccolo, who had killed your comrade when a team of Earth fighters had appeared to try and stop you. The Saibamen had made quick work out of one of them and two more had fallen to Nappa. Well the small one Chiaotzu had blown himself up trying to take out Nappa but considering he’d survived the attack it counted as a point to Nappa in your book.
Despite being the weakest of Frieza’s Saiyans now that Raditz was dead, Vegeta had decided it was best to let Nappa blow off some steam. Sidelining you with him had been a mistake and once Kakarot had appeared he’d made short work of Nappa. You’d watched in horror as Nappa, the man who had faithfully served his prince since before Planet Vegeta’s destruction, was destroyed by Vegeta’s dirty fireworks attack. Yet you knew even if you sided with Kakarot now and somehow did defeat Vegeta it was no good. Death was inevitable where Frieza was concerned.
So like always you’d fought alongside Vegeta, barely making out alive in the end. For all your loyalty, the scumbag prince had crawled into his pod and abandoned you to die on this mudball planet. The only reason you weren’t dead was thanks to Kakarot who saw a worthy sparring partner in you. It had taken a month in that godforsaken human hospital before the sensu beans were ready. While Kakarot had been keen to give you a bean, nobody else was. With most of the Z fighters dead and the rest on their way to Namek there was no one to defeat you if you did decide to wreck havoc on the Earth while Goku was gone.
Instead Bulma had compromised, promising Goku that she would have you taken to Capsule Corp where you’d finish the rest of your treatment up. True to her word, you’d been transferred there a few days later. While you were rather grouchy about the backward underdeveloped nature of the technology on this planet, being doted on at Capsule Corp was rather nice. Bulma had taken a shine to you once she’d realised you were mostly bark in your current state and as far as earthlings went you had to admit she wasn’t so bad. Mrs Brief’s had enjoyed having you stay, constantly bringing you baked sweets and fresh beverages. Mr Brief’s even stopped in time to time to chat with you and inquire about Saiyan/Frieza tech. For a low class Saiyan who had spent years under both Frieza and Vegeta’s thumbs it sure was a good life.
But then Vegeta had reappeared, reincarnated and cockier than ever. Walking in with a smug indifference over your survival, he’d relayed to you the situation on Namek and the likelihood that you were the last two (full blooded) Saiyans left. His demeanour screamed that he expected you to once again fall in line behind him and without Kakarot there didn’t seem to be any likelihood of disobeying Vegeta and surviving. With a heavy heart you accepted that no matter what you seemed destined for a life of servitude.
Seeing how Vegeta’s visit had shaken her injured Saiyan guest Bulma had done everything in her power the two of you seperate. The creation of the gravity spaceship(s) for Vegeta and his sudden departure into space had at least kept him off your back. While you were glad to be rid of his mockery and constant demands, a deep bitterness began to fester in his absence.
Vegeta and Nappa had always looked down upon you and Raditz but you had bitten your tongue and followed orders. Even as elite Saiyans, the two of you had not been granted the privilege of being born into high class families. Instead, you and Raditz were lowborn’s who’d gotten lucky. Enslavement under Frieza had heightened these divides and in moments of frustration and anger you both became verbal, and sometimes physical punching bags, for Vegeta. Nappa followed Vegeta’s lead for the most part, though occasionally cut the two of you some slack.
But now all of that suffering felt like it had been for nothing. Frieza was dead, killed by Kakarot or with him in Namek’s explosion and you had not even been present to bear witness. An unfamiliar feeling gnawed at you over Kakarot’s demise. Guilt. The younger Saiyan was the reason you were even alive and yet it seemed your debt would go eternally unpaid. Vegeta had abandoned you to die in an act of self preservation. If you’d even thought of doing the same, running back to Frieza with your tail tucked you would have been killed. But Vegeta was the Prince of all (five) Saiyans, he had lived a life of special privileges that no other Frieza force member was granted.
Raditz, the only other true ally you’d ever had was gone, executed the year prior. All Vegeta had done was mock his death, not a single remorseful word shed over a lifelong ally’s death. Even Nappa was gone, betrayed and destroyed by the very boy he had all but raised after your planets destruction. It all left a bitter taste in your mouth. Behind it all a single being featured.
Resentment and anger bubbled, boiling over to your dreams. Even when Vegeta was absent you were never truly free of him. His acts of vicious contempt raged, pointing out every weakness and flaw. Beaten bloody and on the edge of death you’d awake in a cold sweat, desperately clutching at the sheets as you tried to get your bearings. Earth was full of new experiences and crying was no different. On the days you didn’t wake in a violent start you found tears pooled in your eyes and a wetness on your pillow. You would never know what it meant to be whole, unburdened. You would never know what it meant to be loved by your kin. Most of all, you would never get an apology, even if Vegeta did return. No his overinflated ego was much to big for that and you doubted he’d ever felt anything other than hatred and amusement at others suffering. It seemed you were doomed to a life of haunted memories and broken dreams, Vegeta’s cruelty had tainted your very being.

Kishimoto interview Shonen Jump. Naruto: Interview with the creator (2004?)
This interview had already been posted by @narutouzumakiarchive from pictures of a magazine [LINK]. But I want to share here not only the interview again but also the site from which I got it which I think can be pretty useful to look for Naruto resources. Looking for Kishimoto interviews on the internet I found an old site called saiyanisland, it no longer exists, but some of it got archived on the Wayback machine and I found that same interview!! [LINK]
Saiyan Island used to post info, scans and interviews of popular shonen mangas like Naruto, Bleach and Dragon Ball Z but eventually it was shut down around mid 2010s. I'll be checking how much info we still got preserved from it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto: Interview with Creator
Shonen Jump interviewed the creator of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto. Here it is:
Shonen Jump: What were you like when you where younger (say in middle school and high school)? Masashi Kishimoto: I had manga on the brain, and I was constantly drawing, hardly ever doing homework. In short, a bit of a brat.
Shonen Jump: How did growing up in a rural environment influence your manga, or your personality in general? Masashi Kishimoto: This is a story set in a slow-paced, relaxed setting, far away from capitalist society. My personality is very slow-paced, too, so that's why I often just barely meet, my deadlines for the manga.
Shonen Jump: I've heard that you where a huge fan of Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball" and "Dr. Slump". What was your favorite storyline of Dragon Ball? Or, if you prefer, who was your favorite character? Masashi Kishimoto: I love all the stories up until the first appearance of Frieza. My favorite character is Kuririn, because he has the most "human" feel, and I really associate myself with him.
Shonen Jump: When you where younger, you were attacked by monkeys. Can you tell us about this experience? Masashi Kishimoto: I accidentally stepped on a young monkey, and the alpha male of the group and the mother of the monkey attacked me. Ever sense then, I have been afraid of monkeys. But these days, I look back on the incident and realize that the protective, nurturing aspect of the monkey is just the same as what a human would feel.
Shonen Jump: You grew up next to a military base, and the ninja in Naruto behave something like a military force, with discipline and training. Are you a military enthusiast, and did you ever consider joining the Japanese Self-Defense Force (JSDF)? Masashi Kishimoto: I don't really consider myself a military enthusiast. Where I grew up didn't really have a military base, as Japan doesn't have a military, just a Self-Defense Force. What I did was use the training grounds of the SDF as a reference, in addition to books on the Mossad and the SAS. I never wanted to join the JSDF, as I wanted to draw manga.
Shonen Jump: I've heard that you where most inspired by "Akira" the anime, and the manga by Katsuhiro Otomo. Why is this, and what inspired you? Masashi Kishimoto: I consider "Akira" (1988) to be the first Japanese anime to use the "fresco" style of art. Unlike the other works during that time, the character designs, lines, and sense were very realistic, as was the manga itself. Even the buildings were very detailed, and the sheer amount of information that the art conveyed was incredible. It was a very cool science fiction manga. I think it's also the reason anime became so popular in the U.S. I got a bunch of storyboards for "Akira" when I was 14, and I remember constantly copying them.
Shonen Jump: What was it like going to art school? What was the most useful thing you learned there? Masashi Kishimoto: I trained in plaster mediums and the drawing of the human body to increase my skills as a design artist. I also learned graphic design, coloring, and perspectives. Manga is still an art form that you pick up by yourself-that's the current reality of the Japanese manga industry. Although the drawing skills that I learned in art school were quite useful, I had the ability of drawing and perspective prior to entering art school. Thus, going to art school was more of a step backwards for me.
Shonen Jump: What was it like being "trained" to be a professional manga artist for "Weekly Shonen Jump"? What kinds of things did you learn? Masashi Kishimoto: Of course, art is a big part of being a manga artist, but equally important is being able to write a story well. I do everything pretty much by myself, from the characters to the story to the backgrounds. Also, receiving advice from the editor is important, but I think getting a good editor who is supportive of you is the key.
Shonen Jump: You played baseball as a kid, and at one point you considered making a baseball manga. Do you still follow baseball? If so what's your favorite team? Masashi Kishimoto: I love playing baseball, but I don't really like watching it. I don't have a favorite team in Japan. If Japan had major league teams as impressive as the Americans, I might have a team I would root for.
Shonen Jump: I've heard that you are a fan of traditional Japanese adventure stories. Do you like "chabbara eiga" (Sword fighting movies set in Japan's Feudal period) or historical fiction? Masashi Kishimoto: I like chabbara, but the recent chabbara films don't have the feel that the older movies have, and I'm not a big fan of the recent ones. I'm hoping a much cooler director comes out and creates an awesome chabbara film.
Shonen Jump: Especially since the early 1980's ninja have been very popular in America n movies and comics. Have you been inspired by American ninja stories? Masashi Kishimoto: I know a little bit about the popularity of Sho Kosugi (star of many action movies) during the period, as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I'm happy, from the perspective of someone from Japan, to see the new way ninjas are perceived in America. Although I hear there are some people who are upset about how the entire "ninja mythology" has been screwed up because of it.
Shonen Jump: This may be an American misconception, but when I think of "ninja" I think of figures wearing completely black outfits, usually with masks. But the ninjas in Naruto look completely unlike the old stereotypes. How did you come up with the interesting "Konoha Style" of ninjas in Naruto? Masashi Kishimoto: If I created a world that recycles the traditional concept of a ninja it would have ended up just like all the other ninja manga. I wanted to create a ninja world with a twist, something fresh, so I completely threw out the preconceived notion of what a ninja wearing yellow clothing, who is suppose to be part of a secret intelligence gathering organization. There's no way that a ninja who stands out that much would really exist. (Laughs)
Shonen Jump: Samurai are of almost equal fame to a ninja, and in pop culture, in some ways, they seem like the opposite of ninja - forthright instead of sneaky. Are there any powerful samurai in the world of Naruto, or are ninja the overwhelmingly dominant power in this world? Masashi Kishimoto:I do have a few samurai character: Zouri and Waraji (although they're kind of "lame" samurai.) But there are way too many samurai manga out there, so to stay original I'll continue with ninja stories.
Shonen Jump: Their character Jiraiya, who appears in Naruto, is based on a legendary ninja. Is Naruto inspired by any other particular legends? Masashi Kishimoto: Jiraiya is about the only character who is like that; the others are all original.
Shonen Jump: Your work seems to have a science fiction influence. Approximately speaking what is the technology level in the world of Naruto? Masashi Kishimoto: Actually, the world of Naruto doesn't differ very much from our present time. TV, refrigerators and air conditioners exist in the world. The only exceptions are weapons and explosives, which I've decided to set in a much earlier era. That's why you don't see firearms.
Shonen Jump: Many "Shonen Jump" mangas have puns for character names. So can you explain some of the puns in the names of the characters? I know that Naruto is a word for the spiral fishcakes in ramen... But I've also heard of a place off the sea of Japan called the "Naruto Uzumaki" (the Naruto whirlpools), like Naruto's a first and last name. Masashi Kishimoto: Uzumaki (spirals) are a very cool Japanese pattern. "Weekly Shonen Jump's" philosophy for naming characters is to create a name that the readers can easily associate with the character, by combining it with puns and gags.
Shonen Jump: How did you develop the chakra power system in Naruto? Are you interested in East Indian mysticism? Masashi Kishimoto: I actually have no interest in East Indian mysticism. I needed a hook to tie in those points in the story when characters would use powers that were beyond normal human capabilities. The term is chakra, which is used as an explanation for readers to better understand the powers. Its similar to "the Force" in Star Wars, or chi (aka. - Ki) in "Dragon Ball", or magic points in RPGs.
Shonen Jump: How did you develop the mystic hand gestures used by the ninjas in Naruto? Masashi Kishimoto: As an alternative to the standard verbal method of casting spells, like in RPGs, the ninja use hand gestures instead
Shonen Jump: In Naruto, the frog seems to be associated with the character Naruto. Also, in an early drawing you associate the snake with Sasuke, and the snail with Sakura. What about these animals caused you to connect them with these characters? Are ninja associated with frogs in Japan? Masashi Kishimoto: When you talk about ninjas, you invariably talk about frogs. There is a ninja manga whose main character is "Hattori-kun," who (also a joke in the story) does not like frogs, so this connection between ninjas and frogs is a close one. (In Japanese folklore, frogs are concerted magical animals, and the oil from a frog's skin is a traditional ointment for wounds and other ailments.) The triad of snake, snail and frog is from Japanese mythology. The snake is more powerful then the frog, the snail is more powerful then the snake, and the frog is more powerful then the snail, Making a paper, rock, scissors" sort of situation. These three are collectively called the "Sansukumi".
Shonen Jump: What inspired you to do a story about a demon fox? What interests you about foxes? Masashi Kishimoto: Because the fox, in particular the nine tailed fox, is considered to be one of the most powerful supernatural beasts.
Shonen Jump: What is the relationship of Naruto and the demon fox? Was the demon fox killed and reincarnated inside Naruto's body, or was it sealed inside the baby Naruto with out dying? Are there two souls within Naruto's body, in a mystical sense, or is it more like two personalities, in the psychological sense? Masashi Kishimoto: The demon fox has been sealed inside of Naruto without having been killed. It's because the nine tailed fox couldn't be killed, so they had no choice but to seal it away... probably... which us why there are two personalities inside of Naruto.
Shonen Jump Question: Do you get more fan letters from boys or girls? Do boys and girls like different things about the series? Masashi Kishimoto: Fan letters are typically written by girls, as it seems that "boys don't write letters". About 90% of the fan letters seem to be from girls, even though the majority of readers are suppose to be boys. It was like that when I used to read Weekly Shonen Jump as a kid, and apparently it's the same today.
Shonen Jump: Naruto and Sasuke kiss (accidentally) in the first chapter where they appear together. Does this add a special dimension to their rivalry? Masashi Kishimoto: I didn't have any particular reason for it, other than to surprise readers. I mainly did it because I don't think there has ever been a manga where two rivals kissed. Also, by having this encounter, it was easier to set up the love triangle: Sakura, who had intended to be the first one to kiss Sasuke, has it stolen by her rival Naruto, Sasuke and Naruto are rivals, so there's and added tension there. And so on and so forth.
Shonen Jump Question: Is there ever going to be a manga adaptation of "Ichalcha Paradise"? (Make-Out Paradise" or "Cum-Cum Paradise") Masashi Kishimoto: Never
Shonen Jump Question: In closing, what advise would you give fans who are interested in becoming artists themselves? Masashi Kishimoto: Creating manga isn't just about drawing well, but writing a good story. Keep the art and the story real, and you can't lose. Also, watch a lot of good Hollywood movies. Those who rail against the entertainment industry are just being close-minded.

My Adventures With Superman - A Rambling Set Of Thoughts
Okay, I know I don't USUALLY make posts like this and I especially hate getting cynical and nitpicky about these sorts of things because I just don't wanna contribute to all the negativity on the internet... But this is something I just couldn't shake.
So last night I watched the first season of My Adventures With Superman and... I have a lot of mixed feelings about to be brutally honest which is a shame because I know SO many people really loved this show.
Spoilers for season 1 obviously
For the most this show is great and it has a good foundation for Superman and gets him and his relationship with Lois so right. I love how Clark is this big, soft himbo twink dork who really reminds me of Adora from She-Ra and Lois is this fun tomboy who falls head over heels for him. And to be honest, all of their moments were genuinely the highlight of the show for me. SERIOUSLY ITS LIKE CLARK AND LOIS BUT MADE FOR SAPPHICS LIKE ME AND I ADORE THEM
I love the art style and animation too and really does put a very fresh new aesthetic on DC stuff. Sure, it's a bit too much like She-Ra and Voltron in places, but for DC, it's a really good breath of fresh air. Seriously, look at the designs of Deathstroke and Livewire!
But sadly, that's not all the show is and this is where I have to sadly talk about my negatives with it.
Sooooo… this show was written a lot of the same people who wrote She-Ra and it seems to be a big fan of various anime things too, especially Dragon Ball Z and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
To that end, the show has basically... turned Superman into a mixture of Adora and Goku, not just in terms of personality traits and in Adora's case, her relationship with Catra (Seriously, if Clark was a woman and blonde, I would swear she and Lois would just be Catradora)
This sadly does apply to how this show portrays the Kryptonians, who are implied to MOSTLY be a race of evil conquerors who tried to attack Earth only for Krypton to be destroyed. This is VERY similar to how the First One's were depicted in She-Ra, as well as how the Saiyans were in Dragon Ball Z. One could also argue that their attack on Earth is a weird mashup of the movie Arrival and the Second Impact from Evangelion but that's me getting very nitpicky.
So naturally, we have Adora and Goku's traits being applied to Superman. And…. those traits don't really work for Superman, at all. Now I should be clear, it seems to be that Jor-El and Lara were actually like rebels fighting the evil Kryptonians (which is ironically Mara's whole deal... you seeing the She-Ra pattern here yet?) but like... I don't like this idea at all. Poor Clark even has a fucking breakdown later on and thinks he's actually some evil weapon meant to conquer Earth AGAIN just like Adora from She-Ra being used as a weapon by the First One's. And I just feel bad for him because he's trying to be the good decent Superman we all love... but he's getting dragged into this plot that pretty much breaks him... and I don't really like it.
And then there's a whole subplot about Lois meeting alternate versions of herself and discovering alternate versions of Superman who are evil (which is bizarrely how Kryptonite is introduced in this show) which.... yeah I don't like that plot either. Nor am I the fan of Task Force X pulling the whole "the Government is treating clark as hostile because they think he's an evil alien" plot which I have gotten kinda tired of seeing in a lot of modern Superhero media. It's either Superheroes being hated or hunted by the government or being made to work for them.
And you know where this all probably came from for this show in particular? Fucking Zack Synder and Man of Steel. It's kind of ironic because a lot of this show feels like its in response to the Synderverse, like it feels obligated to comment on how people see Superman now because of those crappy movies, something that I know James Gunn is probably gonna do as well with his superman movie basically a live action version of Superman vs the Elite.
And just…. no, none of this shit is really necessary nor is it a good idea. Because it kinda takes away some bits of Superman that I like. I know the show isn't done yet but… I can already make a good guess of where it's going to go. And where it's going… idk if I'm gonna like a whole lot.
It is clearly a show wanting to be different from all that has been done before with Superman…. but by being different for the sake of it, it's doing a lot of stuff I just don't like.
I just want there to be a day when we get a Superman thing that doesn't have to justify the man's own existence and role in a story because some objectivist edgelord made a bad movie with him in it eleven years ago.
So yeah, by turning Superman into more or less mostly Adora from She-Ra... I think they might have messed him a bit in my eyes. I hope season 2, whenever that comes out hopefully pushes things in a more hopeful direction and I could genuinely call this a good adaption of Superman. Because there is so much potential with just from the relationship of Clark and Lois alone that tells me that these creators just GET how Superman's character is.
So yeah, I hope that long rambling thought made sense.

My office mate and I were talking football, and I showed her this pic of Nick Saban having one of his hilariously epic sideline meltdowns, and she said he looks like Goku from Dragon Ball Z doing the Kamehameha attack, and now I can’t unsee it.
“Super Saiyan Saban” has a hilariously catchy ring to it lol.
Will the Crimson Tide be able to score that touchdown and win the National Championship? Will Coach Saban be able to keep his temper in check? Or will he and the team ultimately crash and burn?? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON BAMA BALL Z!!

I'm hyped for this game!
(I was supposed to post this like 2 weeks ago & didn't. Gonna post it now even tho some new information has came out.)
youtube
I wanted a game where there are what-if scenarios. But my idea was that it completely altered the story. Idk if Sparking Zero will do that tho. Probably to a lesser extreme than what I thought.
WHAT IF SCENARIOS:
I made this and didn't post it. Then more info came out that kinda confirmed some of what I speculated.
But with scenarios like this??? Goku refuses help from Piccolo so Krillin follows Goku to fight Raditz (Battle of Z did that scenario too). Krillin was gonna go help Goku too even tho he knew he sould likely die. And if Goku refused Piccolo's help, of course Krillin would go help his bro save Gohan.
Krillin fought Freeza in his 1st, 2nd, & final forms. Final Form Freeza was far stronger than Krillin. Goku was closer to Freeza in strength but still weaker. Yet Krillin hung in there against Freeza & even almost killed 2nd form Freeza with a Kienzan. Goku & Krillin could realistically team-up against Raditz & win (with help from Gohan) if they outsmart him along with outmaneuvering him with their synchronized Turtle School style.
I watched Dotodoya's videos & without spoiling too much... I was right, but with extra steps. And the characters were implemented well & the dialogue was interesting.
Then, we have a scenario where Krillin dies fighting against Oozaru Vegeta (he probably saved Goku from getting crushed) which makes Goku turns Super Saiyan during the Saiyan Saga.
Is this a result of Goku not dying against Raditz because Krillin helped defeat Raditz without Goku dying? If so, this means Goku never trained with King Kai, so Goku doesn't know the Kaio-Ken nor the Genki Dama. Krillin dies helping a weaker Goku sho doesn't have King Kai's techniques, then Goku gets more than enough power to defeat Vegeta by turning Super Saiyan. So, some scenarios may actually change the story more than we think.
How would this effect the Freeza Saga? @dragon-ball-meta has a good answer.
My thoughts are that changes in one saga have to be course corrected in the next saga.
Oozaru Vegeta kills Krillin
Goku turns SSJ & defeats Vegeta
SSJ Goku spares Vegeta & mocks him by saying Vegeta lost to a low-class Saiyan (like how SSJ Goku spared then mocked Freeza for being defeated by a Saiyan)
Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, & Yamcha go train with King Kai (maybe they learn Kaio-Ken & the Genki Dama instead since Goku has SSJ)
Depending on if Piccolo survived the battle against the Saiyans, perhaps he & Gohan accompany Goku to Namek
Vegeta is on Namek too and tries to become a Super Saiyan by trying to be like Goku (and trying to be more like Goku what Vegeta does after the Cell Saga & is why Vegeta became a kinder person)
The Namekian Dragon Balls are used to wish Krillin back to life, Chaotzu back to life, then Namekian Dragon Balls become inert before they can make a 3rd wish (or Piccolo is wished back if he is dead)
Over the battles, Goku gets stronger and learns how to turn SSJ when facing Freeza instead of using Kaio-Ken & Goku believes he killed Freeza
Once back on Earth, the Dragon Balls are used to resurrect Yamcha & Tien along with those killed on the day the Saiyans attacked
Now at the start of the Cell Saga, everything is pretty much reset to how it was supposed to be, but Goku might fight Mecha Freeza & King Cold on Earth as Future Trunks watches then delivers a grave warning
This outcome may even result in Vegeta being a kinder person earlier than in canon & him teaching Trunks his new technique, then we get a Father-Son Final Flash
(The arena is still there, so maybe Vegeta takes Goku's offer to fight Cell first, then Trunks hops in to help Vegeta survive against Cell)
Goku sacrifices himself when Cell is about to self-destruct, thus the Saga ends how it did canonically & then we go into the Buu Saga. Then Goku can learn the Kaio-Ken & Genki Dama from King Kai during the 7 years between the Cell Saga & the Buu Saga
So, if there were major alterations in the Cell Saga, the Buu Saga would restore things back to "normal" depending on the altered scenarios. Or at least those are my thoughts/hopes. This game could have tons of replay value. The type of DB game that I always wanted!
CHARACTER POV:
There is also something about the story following from the pov of 8 characters.
More info came out. You can watch scenes normally or switch to watch them from the POV of the character available for the scene. We see this in a trailer when Goku is using Instant Transmission to move Cell from Earth. We also see this 1st person POV when Piccolo uses a Special Beam Cannon on Raditz & Goku.
I think it will be, Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Future Trunks, Tien, Yamcha. We already saw some events from Goku's POV during the Saiyan Saga & Cell Saga.
However, there are two POVs I want to see... 👀
I'm joking lol 😅 (kinda 👀). But, I bet we could see everyone get defeated from Krillin's perspective, then when 18 kisses him.
OTHER THINGS I WONDER ABOUT & HOPE FOR:
The story for Super Hero will be fun. That will mainly be a Piccolo POV. I wonder what changes could be made too. Will there be an option to request the help of 17? What will the fight against Cell Max be like? Can you choose who to play as during the battle between Gohan & Piccolo?
And the unlockable costumes? All the different costumes from DB to DBS plus the Super Hero & Daima DLC will be so cool! I wonder if you can mix some costumes up. Like give Krillin his DBS hair while he is in his Buu Saga outfit.
I'm excited for certain team attacks too. The main one being K18's team attack they did during the Tournament of Power. And interesting enough, 18 didn't form this pink energy attack, Krillin did. So maybe he would have to be on her team for there to be this special team attack.
I hope we get other cool team attacks. Like Roshi performing a Kamehameha with his students, a 17 & Krillin team attack, Videl & Gohan, Vegeta DBS & Future Trunks DBS, Goku & Krillin spiral Kamehameha (from DBS EP 76). And I hope we get get special animations for finishers like 18 vs Giant Ribrianne.
So why not add other things from the DBS anime continuity? Most of the character designs & techniques of the characters are from the DBS anime continuity.
One stage is from the DBS anime continuity of Universe 10's Kai planet
Full Power Jiren who is shirtless aint in the manga
Kakunsa's attacks aren't in the manga, I don't recall Max Power Roshi being in the manga
SSBK isn't in the manga
Certain orb attacks that Beerus has is anime exclusive
God of Destruction Toppo is anime exclusive (I'm sure that will get a reveal too)
Bergamo & his team attack with his brothers is anime exclusive
SSJ2 Kefla's attack is anime exclusive
Spirit Sword Future Trunks is anime exclusive
The halo behind Fused Zamasu & the ki bird thing he creates is anime exclusive
Corrupted Fused Zamasu is anime exclusive
Alot of the supers and ultimate come from the DBS anime (like DBS 17's attacks).
The Gamma Burst Flash for SSB Vegeta is from the DBS manga continuity.
The very end of Krillin's Ultimate Attack is the Super Destructo Disk & to me it resembles the big Kienzan he uses against Cell Max. (This move will look so cool on Cell Max!)
I'd like to see an option to give Krillin his attacks from DBS as interchangeable supers; Solar Flare ×100 which would blind the opponent & make it so that they cannot lock on to Krillin for a few seconds even is they turn the camera to see him. An attack where he throws his stinky shoe at his opponent then blasts them with a Kamehameha. And I would really love it if they give Krillin his Non-Self State power as a power-up similar to Kaio-Ken for base Goku (early & mid), Kaio-Ken for Super Saiyan Blue Goku, & Golden Freeza powering up to True Golden Freeza. They could call it "Dormant Potential" or something & it gives Krillin a buff, a different aura, & slightly changes his combat.
This link, but for Sparking Zero instead.
So, there is a chance Krillin could get his power-up from DBS EP 76 as a sort of Kaio-Ken type of techniques. I just hope it happens since I'm a huge Krillin fan 🤞
DBS MANGA CHARACTERS:
It's probably unlikely for DBS manga exclusive characters to make the roster. Unless its a DLC then maybe we could get Moro, Merus, Gas, Granolah. Which would be the first time they make an appearance in a game. We already have Vegeta's Gamma Burst Flash from the manga's Tournament of Power Saga & Future Trunks using Solar Flare like he did in the nanga. So these characters could be on the way if they aren't on the main roster.
I doubt there will be a "True Ultra Instinct" because that is just convoluted & pointless. Probably no susanoo Ultra Instinct Goku either. If it is in the game, maybe its a DLC super move to give Goku a Giant form. Then ppl could do Susanoo Goku vs Oozaru Vegeta.
I feel like Ultra Ego could be possible IF they do a manga DLC or make a poll for characters that players want to have in the game. I personally dislike the design of UE, but that's just me. I dislike the lack of eyebrows that SSJ3 has. I like the design of Ultra Supervillain Vegeta from Xenoverse 2 better than Ultra Ego. Anyway, what would Ultra Ego Vegeta's moveset be? His Ultimate would be a giant Hakai ball, a technique that is similar to super armor where getting his amplifies his strength... Stuff like that I guess. Some melee attacks from the manga as a super too.
GT & DBZ MOVIE CHARACTERS:
Idk if there will be GT & Z Movie characters this time in the base roster. But I feel like GT has to be included at some point. I just believe DBZ through DBS will be the main focus for characters & story. The Main Continuity is DB, DBZ, & DBS (and probably Daima too) while GT is a separate continuity that includes Z Movie characters. But I feel like they have to include SSJ4 Gogeta & Z Broly at some point. They are too iconic to the series and to the Budokai games.
Sorry I put so much of my thoughts all here. If I make other posts, they will remain as drafts for way too long & become pointless.

DB game ask! 14, 20 and 23
14. Do you own any merch?
I do! I have a few shirts and hoodies, a leather jacket with the Vegeta Royal crest I was gifted a couple years ago, the Saiyan Saga Geets, Nappa, Raditz funkos (and a namek!bulma and Goku), a Saiyan Saga Vegeta ornament, two Vegeta pins (one from high school and one from @dreamcrow !!!) an old kid!Trunks plastic figure I seem to have always had but have no idea the origin of, an old scouter, a set of glass dragon balls…somewhere around here…a set of Z Fighter coasters I made as a school project, the manga box set, some old posters, there’s…idk yeah there’s 20+ years of fandom scattered around this house haha
20. If you could hang out with one character, who would it be?
Answered Here! But also, probably Tights. She’s a sci-fi novelist and she seems chill as hell. She’d probably be nice to spend a day with.
23. What is your favorite technique?
In Kakarot game, Big Bang Attack My Beloved
In the series, I love Final Flash but I also am a huge fan of (spoilers for my manga homies)
Vegeta entering his maliciously compliant white mage era with his Ki Ripping/Sharing technique. Can‘t be a space pirate anymore so he’s a spirit pirate now.

If Dragon Ball Z had the level of girls and gays fandom of say Naruto then the bit where Goku threatens the head of the divine pantheon so Vegeta can get his stupid rematch* would be in the high annals of yaoi history
(*If you're wondering, Goku died and left Vegeta's extremely one-sided rivalry with him unfulfilled, causing him to settle down and live a quiet contented married life instead, then seven years later Goku came back to life for 24 hours only, at which point Vegeta IMMEDIATELY threw away his quiet life and sold his soul to an evil wizard to get strong enough to fight Goku again because this could be his only chance at that fulfilment, and the leader of the gods (Kaioshin) is like this is stupid I'm not letting you fight him we need to go stop the evil wizard, and Goku does the super saiyan equivalent of pulling a gun on him and is like no You go do that, I'm staying here and smiling wryly while Vegeta does weirdly horny energy attacks at me) (this turns out to be a massive mistake that literally everyone involved regrets but y'know chase your dreams, even when they're more like homoerotic midlife crises)
