Man is just out in the hinterlands cosplaying. Like replaying the game knowing Solas is the Dread Wolf adds all this cool intrigue and double meaning but replaying it knowing about Blackwall is fucking wild. He looks you in the face and lies directly out of his ass. Solas is all doublespeak and careful omission and Blackwall just fully makes shit up. What a madlad. I'm obsessed with him. he's so fake it til you make it. He would kill it on TikTok just like "oh yeah grey wardens can't get COVID it's right here in the treaties" and no one calls him on it because the treaties are old as fuck and boring. Alistair (who is supposed to be able to sense the Blight) is like oh hey blackwall haha we've definitely met I totally remember you. No you Haven't, Alistair. You've never seen this jackass ever in your life. He looks Solas, god of betrayal, in the eyes and says with full confidence "Yes, I am a Grey Warden." And Solas is like Sure. Iron Bull? Buys his bullshit completely. Leliana? Thinks he's cool. Everyone else is like "you smell like shit but I guess that's just how Wardens smell" and he's like "Damn Right It Is Have I Told You My Vietnam Stories" guy was born in '68. You can flirt with him almost immediately. Character of all time. What the fuck.

not to be thirsty on main but Blackwall/Thom Rainier's post-redemption romance tarot card in Inquisition is the single hottest piece of video game artwork ever rendered.

Its so beautifully possessive. The glowing hand over his heart to me says 'I am hers', body and soul.

11/10 romance, so glad my Lavellan romanced him in my canon world state.

when i tell you i ran around the frostback basin for HOURS with cole, solas, and blackwall to get this dialogue to trigger (console hell)..... and i would do it again, too. it's about the foreshadowing, it's about cole knowing all their dirt but not spilling it, it's about solas not saying a god damn word even though he knows cole knows. it's about blackwall probably thinking about this for HOURS afterwords, turning over what cole meant, what cole knows... oof i hope veilguard can deliver banter that hits like this.

But 5 minutes from getting to know the lady Inquisitor, especially if she expresses interest in him, he's like, "My lady, I am but your humble servant, undeserving of your care or attention. "The Hissing Wastes is the WORST" the Hissing Wastes is great if you bring Blackwall because he proceeds to tell you about the time he got lost in a desert storm, he and his men got drunk and high, and then they woke up naked and had to fight a bunch of ghasts. Most riveting story in the entire game. Solas and Varric wish they had stories to tell like this.
