Today is Dracula Day! This is the anniversary of the publication of the novel Dracula, published May 26th, 1897.

It also happens to be the birthday of the late Peter Cushing, who played Dr. Van Helsing in multiple Hammer horror movies, including Dracula (1958) AKA Horror of Dracula, Brides of Dracula, Dracula 72' AD, Satanic Rites of Dracula AKA Dracula's Vampire Bride, The Seven Golden Vampires. The character Peter Vincent in the 1985 Fright Night and it's 1988 sequel, Fright Night: Part 2, is named for both Peter Cushing and Vincent Price. The late Vincent Price's birthday happens to be tomorrow along with Christopher Lee's Birthday, who happened to play Dracula to Peter Cushing's Dr. Van Helsing.

Rewatched the OG Dracula and, for the first time, watched Dracula:Dead and Loving it! Watching them back to back really makes me appreciate the attention to detail Mel Brooks put in. Renfield played by Peter (from Allie McBeal) does a really good job! Steven playing Harker kinda reminded me of Shrek 2's Prince Charming LOL

Wearing my Dracula shirt for Dracula day! Nothing says "drained and lifeless" quite like working retail in a tourist town on memorial day weekend.

This is also a Mea Culpa post, because I had to drop my plans for doing any more LeeWeek art. I had a very big freelance job come in which I'm super happy about, but I'm now pretty slammed with work. What I DO have is a painting idea for a future date when I have more time!
