With each of these sets released, I wanted to compare them again.

Like I've mentioned before, EX-03 Draconic Roar, EX-05 Animal Colosseum, and EX-06 Infernal Ascension are based on the Pendulum Progress vpets from 2002. Animal Coloseum kept the name as is, Draconic Roar was Dragon's Roar, and Infernal Ascension replaced the name Armageddon Army. (A very understandable name change)

A large percentage of the Digimon featured in the Pendulum Progress versions were included in the respective card sets. Many of those who weren't included had similar replacements.

As the name suggests, Draconic Roar included many Digimon related to dragons. Since many main character Digimon fall into that category, frequently featured Digimon such as the Greymon line were exluded. This set's Agumon is yellow and the suggested line goes to Veedramon and AeroVeedramon, reminiscent of the V-Tamer manga. Veemon is red in this set, and instead of the usual Ex-Veemon we get Fladramon, along with purple Wormmon and Shadramon, going into a dark Imperialdramon line. Instead of Tyrannomon and MetalTyrannomon, we have DarkTyrannomon and ExTyrannomon too. This set also featured many dragon Digimon that have debuted since the Pendulum Progress, such as Dracomon and its two lines, and the Vorvomon and Jazamon lines from Digimon Links.

The Pendulum Progress Animal Colosseum contains many beast Digimon, notably the Four Sovereigns. The card set expanded on that and not only included the Four Sovereigns, but also their leader Fanglongmon, as well as all 12 Deva serving under them. Like the vpet, this set also featured many X Antibody Digimon, although many of them were switched in the card set. Such as Leomon being included instead of Leomon X, or Dobermon X instead of Dobermon. We also got the card debut of Lunamon and Coronamon and their respective lines, as well as the player chatacters from their debut games Digimon Dusk/Moonlight and Dawn/Sunburst!

Infernal Ascension has a dual theme of Angels and Demons. While the Pendulum Progress included all Three Great Angel, there was only room for two Demon Lords. For the card set all Seven Great Demon Lords got featured (and also received matching alt arts!) Many of the replacements also make sense. Instead of Terriermon and Siesamon we got Lopmon and Turuiemon leading into Antylamon. While Tsukaimon works as a replacement of Patamon in style, it isn't in the Angel lines. The role is instead filled by Luxmon, a very recent addition to the Digimon franchise. Same goes for ArkhaiAngemon taking MagnaAngemon's spot, and Dominimon finally getting recognition! The addition of Mastemon is just perfect for this set too. We also get some holy-themed Digimon from the chinese game New Century for the first time!

So yeah

I just think it's fun to look at these Theme Boosters and compare what they kept, what they changed, and what they expanded upon. Goes to show how much our list of Digimon has grown in the last 20 years!

emerging from my cave to bring you the final* installment of this before I get to writing the au!

now for the explanations! Ok so as you who have been following this know, I have struggled with what to have Leshawna's digimon partner be. After a long long time of debate and struggling I landed between either the Jazzamon line and the Kudamon line. I felt Kudamon worked a little better for her. I think they could get along. Probably have similar but also in some way opposite personalities.

OK HEAR ME OUT. You might be wondering, Tumblr user DuckDuckHjonk, why did you give Katie and Sadie both Dracomon evolution lines? HEAR ME OUT. I think it would be cute to see the two going "omg look our digimon match!!" But also, with this being a mix of an au and a rewrite, I'm giving these two a much more in depth storyline and I feel these two fit that storyline well enough.

I really liked Floramon for Justin, and also Ceresmon, very plant and very like- beauty based I suppose. I think it would be interesting in action he sees his once-beautiful Floramon becoming Kiwimon and Delumon often, he'd fear his digimon is losing the beauty he is also losing. It would make for an interesting conflict.

Noah's line was tricky. I had to build around both Phascomon and Kumbhiramon because I felt both worked really well for him. I actually think he wouldn't get Hypogryphomon used very often because I have a really cool idea involving some jogress evolutions involving him.(No spoilers hehehehehe)

For Ezekiel it was really hard to build around him given how little screentime he had. While I do want to include him in action, I do think he'd still end up an early boot there regardless as I have some really good ideas for the feral zeke(As you could probably tell by the inclusion of Mad Leomon and its final form)

Sierra is getting the Marin Angemon treatment... Had to be done, no way around it. It worked so well. But I like it. She's unreasonably strong, it could be so fun to see them working as being unreasonably strong together. I did include Cythillamon just in case I end up using it. It might end up as like a if she gets pissed off it'll slide evolve to that/I needed something interesting for Marin Angemon to do.

For Alejandro I went with a basic Coronamon line. Probably a little basic?? Probably not my best pick, but I really liked the thought of him having a cute/very cool looking digimon only for it to turn around and be Apollomon Whispered later down the line. Another one who I have a really good idea but this time with the whole thing of being burnt alive by the volcano and having a different angle for the robot thing.

Again I don't have a partner for Izzy, but!!! Fret not!!! I have a plan!!!!! I think she stands out far too much to be encompassed in one singular digimon partner. You'll see :3

as for Chris and Chef and Blainley, they get theirs too, but I'll reveal those as well in the fic itself :3

WarGreymon has some pretty interesting etymology. If you didn't know, the name "Greymon" is derived from the English word "Great." And I've always been convinced the "War" is WarGreymon was short for Warrior, rather than the event, as it roles off the tongue better in Japanese. This means that WarGreymon's name ends up meaning "Great Warrior Digimon," which is pretty neat, though I think my reinvisioning might match the event more than the class.

Anyway, I'm much more happy with this version than my first version. Mostly, it's just less monotonous since it's not just blue. Moving the old faceplate to the shoulder was inspired by Dracomon X3 from the cancelled Digimon Fusions mobile game. Apart from that, a lot of it was just looking at the toy, figuring out if the dimensions roughly worked, and trying to enact the things I listed I wanted to do when I finished the first version.

Also, I didn't bring it up last time, but I kind of imagined these two being my equivalent of Liberator Digimon. I was talking with someone about designing one, but as I thought more on the idea, and especially after reading the novel, most of the new Digimon are just new evolution lines. And with the reveal of Vemmon retaining its evolution into Snatchmon, the idea of adding another partner to the MetalGreymon DigiXros makes more sense.

Anyway, I'm gonna also redo BoostKabuterimon and RizeGreymon, if only because there are a few minor things I want to change; nothing as big as this. Probably not going to do a full redo of SkillGreymon, but I might sketch it out. And then I can finally get around to Tankdramon and ShineGreymon... And maybe a few other things.

What Vaguetypes Mean to Me: Ga'Hoole Owl Edition

I've been thinking more and more about how there's not nearly enough othervague content. So! Here's my contribution on why I personally love othervague and call my Ga'Hoole owl 'type a vaguetype vs a fictotype.

Why Othervague?

The easiest answer is a dislike for labels. Having the freedom to exist in-between gives me more breathing room to explore my identity. There's no pressure to "conform" if the label is inherently, well, vague. Ha ha. I don't have to worry I'm pushing myself into feeling a certain way to fit--or stress about having to change labels or whatever if my experiences change. Hell, even created knowledge would be fair game here. But we'll talk more about that later.

To clarify, this is not a temporary label for me to use until I sort everything out later. Vaguetype is the final stop. No matter where my self-discovery takes me, the label is reliable and works.

Below I'll pick-apart my various feelings and connections to these owls and how I experience the in-between.

Intrinsic and Integral

I'm avianheated and I don't think it's a mistake that I identify as one too. Which came first is kinda a chicken or the egg scenario. I've heard it spun both ways before and it really comes down to the individual's interpretation of their experiences. Would I feel so drawn to these owls if I wasn't so attached to birds? Or, did I attach to birds because I innately knew they were similar to myself?

I don't know and I don't really mind either way.

I am an owl, but my owl-ness competes internally with dracomon (another vaguetype I'll discuss in a part 2) and human. Even if my feelings wane, I know they'll eventually begin to wax again like the moon. It's like they're tied in with my default settings. I could probably take actions to suppress them and test how true that is, but wtf that sounds awful. Existing this way makes me happy, I feel like myself and I'm certainly not hurting anyone else.

Archetype of the Guardian

What separates archetrope from otherkin?

Sometimes it's easy to see. Like someone identifying with a role totally detached from being explicitly nonhuman. However, when I think about this, archetropes come off as more action-focused to me. They're more concerned with doing things, what actions they're going to take next or at the least concerned with living in alignment to a set of values/role/code. At least, that's the vibe I get.

A big part of my identity is the role of being a guardian, upholding their oath and extending a helping talon to others. For example, few things make me feel more like an owl than working on archival duties (besides maybe being out in a storm!) It's a way to live one of the core values of the tree which is to grow our collective knowledge and share it with all.

The act of continuing the legacy and upholding the tree's standards is a very present ideal for me.

Created Knowledge

Straddling the line between noemata and otherlink, knowledge we acquire and stitch together is probably one of the more contentious areas.

How can you tell noemata from headcanon?

I don't feel it matters to my personal experience. Stories and legends are true in their own way. They're feelings we get in our gizzards that over time become true in our hearts. Thinking about how I was a hireclaw before coming to the Great Tree emboldens me to try harder to be patient and compassionate to others. To be a better owl.

I don't want to concern myself rigorously picking apart what is voluntary or involuntary--100% true kin memory or a fabrication of my mind. I rather spend my time living and being an owl. These feelings are true in my reality, they affect my behavior and drive me to new heights. Even the bits of knowledge about my vaguetype that border more on the headcanon side have important messages about my life and journey. I don't choose things at random, there's something resonating with me that draws me there.

As another piece of this is my kinsona representation. I don't have strong feelings towards a certain owl species, but I feel drawn to long-earred owls at the moment so I represent myself as one. (That's me on the right in the top photo!) The colors and markings are just stylized natural looking ones.

I am an owl of the Great Tree, I long for flight and freedom, knowledge and understanding -- my species is secondary to my actions and words.

The Heart of the Matter

Could I call myself something different and be taken seriously in the community? Of course! But at the end of the day, after all this talking, it comes down to what I want. My desire is to have a nebulous label. If I was forced to pick something else, I think I would simply call myself "unlabelled" or perhaps only "fictionfolk."

DigiPuyo Au - Lidelle & Dracomon!

My Dracomon has been really sad lately because there are apparently some tamers going up to him while he’s at daycare and telling him that he should be ashamed to be from the same line as a dark master. I’ve spoken to the staff about it but they haven’t be able to track the tamers down because Dracomon isn’t saying who said those things to him.

Do you know of any way to help him feel comfortable enough to talk about it?

It sounds like Dracomon has begun to internalize the things these tamers are saying and it's really gotten to him, poor little guy. A good place to start is to assure Dracomon that belonging to the same broad group of species as one bad egg doesn't make him a bad digimon. Maybe do some research on digimon in the undead and dark animal groups, find notable figures in your area or at your local Union for Dracomon to meet. A good role model can help a lot with someone's self esteem.

After that, I'm afraid to say you need to force this daycare to take responsibility or switch care providers. Literally every daycare I've ever seen, for digimon or human children, has security cameras. Tell them you want someone to review the footage and if they refuse, find an alternative. I understand options may be limited in your area, but if all else fails your local Union branch should have a daycare or babysitting program. It's really shady that they say that their hands are tied on something like this and I really hope you can find a solution, for Dracomon's sake.

Digimon Partner: Princess

HIii So I thought I would do a follow up to Abayomis Digimon partner thing for me. Mine will be a bit simpler though, but to explain why lets start with our Rookie: ROOKIE/CHILD: V-mon

So I did consider two digimon, V-mon and Dracomon. And it was a really close call. But I ultimately went with V-mon because it seems a bit more kobold like, plus I could make use of some of its canonical digivolution lines for potential alternates. Soo thats that. I'll just be using this custom line. Which does include one canonical diguvolution...

CHAMPION/ADULT: Honeybeemon

Honeybeemon is a canonical Armor digivolution option for V-mon, it's cute and bug themed and I love bugs. It also carries some of visual elements with the little teeth and blue skin. Each stage in this digivolution at least borrows something from the previous stage. ULTIMATE/PERFECT: Piccolomon

Picollomon carries over the winged elements, and Honeybeemons eyes. Picollomon is the stage I am the least sure of, but I think it overs a nice bridge between the previous stages and the mega/ultimate evolution. It's also just a striaght up cutie still -3- MEGA/ULTIMATE: Holydramon

Holydramon bring the pink fluffiness of Picollomon with the draconic qualities of V-mon. There is not much for Honeybeemon to be represented here, but thats ok. IMO a Digivolution line doesn't need to be 100% cohesive to be satisfying as long as there is some or visual connection from each stage to the next. Also going from a blue scalie dragon to a pink fluffy one is fun and cute!! Some other connection is that every stage here is a part of the Wind Guardians group of digimon.

if you want Mega tier Digimon like i, then the ABI stat needs to be increased. the most practical way to do this is by digivolving and de-digivolving, particularly after leveling up at least a little bit. there’s also the Miracle Meat item, but that’s just way too rare and expensive to be reliable. so i figured, “you know what’d be fun? letting my team digivolve into two separate lines and keeping track of all of that.”

i did not do this for Hacker’s Memory. just the one, there.

so here’s everyone’s line 2, up to Ultimate. still not quite enough to hit Mega on these lines, but when they go back to their original lines, they’ll get there. as usual, details beneath the second Keep Reading.

Roleplay Starter Call for Digimon OC Christina!

A Digi-destined OC who has the Digimon, Dracomon! Rambunctious and takes things head on, Christina is always looking for adventure. Nothing seems to bring her down and she meets the toughest foes with a grin on her face.
