The Protein Predicament: Animal, Plant, or Both?
By Dr. David B. Clark DABCI, NMD, DC
The importance of protein in our diet is a well-accepted fact. It’s crucial for growth, cellular repair, and immune function. However, as much as health experts agree on the necessity of protein, the ‘how much’ and ‘what kind’ of protein are points of disagreement. Should we get our protein solely from plants, animals, or a combination of both? How much protein is ideal?
Understanding Protein
Protein is a macronutrient made up of smaller units known as amino acids. These amino acids are categorized as essential (cannot be synthesized by the body) and non-essential (can be synthesized by the body). The primary point of divergence between animal and plant proteins lies in their amino acid profiles and other associated nutrients.
Animal Protein
Animal-source proteins, including meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy foods, are often referred to as complete proteins. This means they contain all essential amino acids in sufficient quantities. Moreover, they are rich in essential nutrients like vitamin B12, iron, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Plant Protein
Plant proteins, derived from legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds, are generally not considered complete proteins because they lack one or more essential amino acids. However, by combining different sources of plant protein, you can still obtain a complete amino acid profile. Additionally, plant proteins are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and are generally lower in saturated fats.
Digestibility
It’s true that plant proteins typically require more effort to be completely digested compared to animal proteins. This is due to the presence of certain anti-nutrients like phytates and oxalates that can inhibit absorption. However, cooking, fermenting, or sprouting plant foods can significantly improve nutrient availability.
Nutritional Requirements
The average adult should consume between 3 to 4 ounces (approximately 80 to 110 grams) of protein daily. For pregnant or nursing women and individuals over 65, the higher end of this scale is recommended. Around one-third of your daily caloric intake should ideally come from protein sources, whether animal-based, plant-based, or a mix of both.
Ethical and Environmental Considerations
Beyond the nutritional aspects, many people consider the ethical and environmental implications of their protein choices. Animal farming often has a more significant environmental impact in terms of land use, water consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. On the other hand, a diet overly reliant on monocrops like soy can also pose sustainability challenges.
Whether animal or plant protein is better for you can depend on numerous factors such as lifestyle, pre-existing health conditions, ethical beliefs, and nutritional needs. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
At Health+Plus Clinic, we recommend a balanced approach to diet and nutrition, focusing on whole, unprocessed foods. If you have specific dietary concerns or health conditions, consulting with a healthcare provider for personalized guidance is always the best course of action.

Battling Medical Gaslighting for Empowered Healthcare
Missouri Clinic Shines a Light on Patient Advocacy
A recent survey uncovered a staggering statistic: 71% of women have been told by a physician that their symptoms were merely imagined.
— Dr. David Clark
Increasingly, women are being told that their health symptoms are simply “all in their head,” a disturbing trend known as medical gaslighting. Leading the charge against this insidious issue is Health+Plus, a holistic medicine provider pioneering an initiative focused on listening to patients, validating their experiences, and providing comprehensive evaluations.
“Health+Plus firmly rejects this practice. It has no place in medicine,” he said. Instead, his facility insists on empowering patients, offering a platform where their concerns are taken seriously, and their symptoms thoroughly investigated.
“Your voice matters,” Dr Clark said. “We approach patient consultations with deep empathy, acknowledging the validity of symptoms and committing to understanding the discomfort they’re experiencing.”
A Chiropractic Internist [DABCI] and a Naturopath [NMD], Dr. Clark has been in private practice since 1975. People from all over the country began to hear good reports of Dr. Clark’s success in treating chronic illness with a natural approach began traveling to his little office in Oak Grove. Since 1999, he more than quadrupled the size of that office to accommodate the needs of his patients who seek a natural, caring health approach to their healthcare. Dr. Clark is dedicated to conducting comprehensive evaluations for every new patient, performing an array of medical tests to uncover the root causes of health problems. This thorough examination of the ‘whole person’ helps ensure that no potential health issue is overlooked.
“At Health+Plus, we understand that health problems can stem from a variety of factors, and they endeavor to address all possible underlying causes – from hormonal imbalances to harmful lifestyle choices,” Dr. Clark added. “The facility provides tailored recommendations based on our findings to help improve patients’ overall well-being. It starts, however, with listening and not being dismissive.”
While they cannot guarantee success in every case, Health+Plus underscores its commitment to taking every patient seriously.
“At Health+Plus, we greatly value the trust of our patients and strive to create a safe space where they can openly share their concerns,” says Melissa Abramovitz, APRN/FNP-BC, who collaborates closely with Dr. Clark in providing patient care. “The foundation of that trust is built on actively listening to our patients and taking their experiences seriously.”
“Gaslighting has to go,” Dr. Clark said.
To learn more about Health+Plus or schedule an appointment, call 816-625-4497 or visit their contact page. Be sure to visit their blog for weekly updates, tips, and news about health and well-being.

David McCallum Vs. Dean Stockwell
Propaganda
David McCallum - (The Man From U.N.C.L.E, Colditz, The Outer Limits) - He became one of the hottest leading men of 1960s tv with The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and McCallum received more fan mail than any other actor in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's history, including such popular MGM movie stars as Clark Gable and Elvis Presley. He turned his Russian character from side-kick to co-star in one season during the height of the cold war. Artists wrote hit camp songs about his character like "Love Ya, Illya"
Dean Stockwell - (Quantum Leap, Dr. Kildare) - "Dean may be more well known for his roles in film, he is equally a titan of the small screen just as much as the big (despite his short king status)! ... Frankly, I think we all should recognize not only as a great actor, but as a really endearing and handsome fellow. He has the face, he has the style, he has the substance. Rise UP Dean Stockwell nation!!!" Full text propaganda included below the cut

Additional propaganda below the cut
David McCallum:
Everyone knows him as Ducky from NCIS or Ashley Pitt from The Great Escape, but David McCallum was also the original Man From UNCLE, for which role he recieved record setting amounts of fan mail. Was considered to play the Doctor. Charles Bronson stole his first wife, but his second marriage lasted over 55 years, until his death, so who's the winner here.
He became an expert on forensics during his time with JAG/NCIS and attended multiple medical examiner conventions for research.
youtube
A classically trained musician, he created several instrumental albums in the 60's his biggest hit is a cover of The Edge which has appeared in movies and video games and sampled by rap artists.
Dean Stockwell:
Dean may be more well known for his roles in film, he is equally a titan of the small screen just as much as the big (despite his short king status)! Dean in his younger days was such a charmer that Dennis Hopper, upon seeing him, compared him to the late James Dean. He reflected that in his early television roles as well, often playing tortured, angst-ridden rebels. His fluffy hair, bushy eyebrows, and big brown eyes gave him an expressive and attractive charisma that nobody could turn from. Speaking of charisma, his biggest role is of course, Al Calavicci from Quantum Leap. If you watch a single episode of this show you are going to come away with an adoration for him. His cunt-slaying fashion and wise-cracking wisdom is all played excellently by him! It really is no wonder that Quantum Leap fans fell so far in love with him that, upon learning he didn't have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, they campaigned HEAVILY to get him one (which was successful!). Frankly, I think we all should recognize not only as a great actor, but as a really endearing and handsome fellow. He has the face, he has the style, he has the substance. Rise UP Dean Stockwell nation!!!

Superhero and Heroic Comfort Character Squad - My Version - Men and Boys from Cartoons, Comics, Anime and Video Games - Duck Avenger (Paperinik), Duck Dodgers, Darkwing Duck and T-Squad (Quack Pack) crossover - Duckverse and crossover - My Style
Sorry for my break, due to some inconveniences I took a week off, now I've done new drawings, which I wanted to do last year, but due to some circumstances I didn't get around to it, but now I have. For those unfamiliar, I did my own redraw of a meme drawing like the "draw your comfort characters like this" challenges and took this drawing as inspiration: https://www.deviantart.com/outcastcomix/art/The-Comfort-Character-Squad-1012002807
Otherwise, it's a redraw from a WB Kids promo featuring Yakko Warner from Animaniacs, Bruce Wayne as Batman and as Batman Beyond, Clark Kent as Superman, and Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. Source:https://x.com/PreStalnic/status/1747360462088610150
That trend was popular last year and I'm sorry I didn't do it then, but that certainly doesn't mean I haven't given up on it and I've done two drawings featuring my favorite characters from various franchises and together they make up the Superheroes Squad team.
The first drawing I drew features Donald Duck as Duck Avenger (Paperinik-Pk), Daffy Duck as Duck Dodgers from the 24th century, Drake Mallard as Darkwing Duck, Howard the Duck from Marvel Comics, Rayman from the Rayman game (Ubisoft), Woody Woodpecker as the Masked Woodpecker, Detective Droopy the Dog, Super Mario and Luigi from the popular Nintendo game, Bruce Wayne as Batman, Popeye the Sailor, Squidward Tentacles from SpongeBob SquarePants as Sour Note (as his superhero alter ego from the movie SpongeBob: Out of the Water), Asterix and Obelix from the popular Franco-Belgian comic of the same name, and Dr. David Livesey from the Soviet version of Treasure Island.
The second drawing I drew features T-Squad (Quack Pack-my version) featuring Louie Duck as Green Avenger (based on Duck Avenger), Dewey Duck as Blue Cyclops (based on Gizmoduck) and Huey Duck as Red Shadow (based on Darkwing Duck and Shadow). In addition to them, there are also Plucky Duck as Green Dodgers (based on Duck Dodgers), Buster Bunny as Superbun (based on Superman and Super Rabbit) from Tiny Toons Adventures, Yakko and Wakko Warner as Power Rangers (Warner Rangers) from the original Animaniacs, Chip and Dale Chipmunk from Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, SpongeBob SquarePants as Invincibubble (as his superhero alter ego from the movie SpongeBob: Out of the Water), Peter Parker as Spiderman from Marvel Comics, Sonic the Hedgehog from the popular franchise of the same name from Sega, as from the Sonic films, Michelangelo the turtle from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Goku from Dragon Ball Z and Link the elf from the Nintendo video game The Legend of the Zelda.
I wanted to add more, but I wouldn't care for everything, so I apologize for that. I hope you like these characters and these drawings.
Feel free to like and reblog if you like this, but please do not copy these same ideas and versions of these characters without my permission and without mentioning me, thank you! Of course, with the New Year, let's start something new, and that's with crossovers. SUPERHEROES ASSAMBLE! UNITE!
