Who Did What for Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure
So the 900th Adventure was basically this years Annual in spirit, but instead of multiple shorter stories, it told one big story, but with the number of writers and art teams that you would get in a multi-story annual anyways. Sure you could easily read the credits, but it's more fun this way. Obviously spoilers ahead so everything past part 1 is is gonna be under a Read More
Part 1 (pages 1-6): Set-up with Tails
Writer: Ian Flynn (the original main writer on IDW Sonic and post-Metal Virus continues to be one of the main writers, including being the main writer of IDW's Classic Sonic specials. Been with the franchise since becoming a writer for the Archie comics back in '06 and served as the writer for Sonic Frontiers)
Artist: Adam Bryce Thomas (one of the main IDW Sonic artists. been around since the latter half of Archie's reboot)
Colors: Valentina Pinto (initially a secondary colorist whose biggest credit was doing the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, recently seems to have graduated to being one of the main colorists this year)
Part 2 (pages 7-12): Amy and the Orca
Writer/Artist: Evan Stanley (the other main writer of IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus as well as one of the main artists, been around since late in Archie's pre-reboot era)
Colors: Gigi Dutreix (regular cover artist and occasional inker and has even written a few stories; co-authoring Victory Garden from the 2019 Annual and its follow up Future Growth, which they also colored, and solo-writing The Catalyst from 2020's Annual)
Part 3 (pages 13-18): Knuckles and Metal Sonic
Writer: Nigel Kitching (one of the main writers of the old UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions back in the 90s)
Artist: Mauro Fonseca (regular artist, major credits so far include Sonic Learns to Drive from the 30th Anniversary Special, co-designing Surge & Kit, doing the A-covers for the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, and doing a bunch of stuff in the concurrent and upcoming main book issues. Also relevantly used to be a regular contributor to the Sonic the Comic-Online fan continuation)
Inks: Rik Mack (recent regular inker, being the main inker on Mauro's more recent interior art for the comic as well as inking other artists, most notably on Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. Recently did some coloring on the back-half of issue 61 as well. Also another former StC-O regular)
Colors: Reggie Graham (one of the main colorists on IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus, after having been a regular on covers beforehand, as well as being another former StC-O regular)
Part 4 (pages 19-24): Eggman and his Mech
Writer: Daniel Barnes (writer of Weapons from the 2022 Annual and the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Artist/Colors: Min Ho Kim (fairly recent addition of the IDW Sonic crew, being a regular cover artist since Scrapnik #1. Also the character artist on The Murder of Sonic)
Color Assistance: Evan Maly
Part 5 (pages 25-30): Blaze and Cream
Writer/Artist: Aaron Hammerstrom (regular artist, most prominently being the main artist for IDW's Classic Sonic stuff. Also previously wrote/drew the 2022 Annual story Rough Patch)
Inks: Matt Froese (regular inker, mainly works on Aaron's art. Most notable non-Aaron credits include the two Yardley-drawn issues of Zeti Hunt and the first and last parts of Trial by Fire)
Colors: Nathalie Fourdraine (The 1:10 Retailer Incentive variant cover artist for every issue the main book as well as semi-regularly doing covers for side books. Served as the colorist for the Classic Sonic stories Dr. Eggman's Brithday and Amy's New Hobby, as well as the colors and A covers for the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Part 6 (pages 31-36): Babylon Rogues & Shadow/Rouge
Writer: Caleb Goellner (writer of the Team Sonic Racing one-shot, the 2019 Annual story Jet Set Tornado, and the 2020 Annual story Reflections)
Artist: Abby Bulmer (regular cover artist, as well as artist of the 2020 Annual story The Catalyst and the 2022 Annual story Hero Camp. Notably way back in the day was the artist of the very first StC-O story, and her time on 2000 AD often involved her serving as a colorist for Richard Elson, one of the main StC artists.)
Colors: Heather Breckel (IDW MLP's main colorist, who's been a recurring secondary colorist throughout IDW Sonic's run, often filling in for other colorists)
Part 7 (pages 37-40): The Warp Topaz Cave
Same team (Flynn/Thomas/Pinto) as part 1

Im now convinced with the healing power of massaging a scar and this herbal ointment. Its made of coconut oil. I don’t know if there’s any other ingredient, cause its green baka may halo sya pero Im sure its purely natural.
Its main use for us was for insect bites. Lalo yung mapupula, nawawala agad pati yung kati. After gabbie’s lip operation, we needed to massage her lips para di mag contract at mag scar. We used petroleum jelly at first pero I realized pwede nga pala ito. So This is what I used. Hindi sya nag keloid or kahit manipis na scar, you can see the part na ini-stitch kasi its whiter pero that’s normal kasi. Yung sakanya siguro maganda kinalabasan not just because of the ointment but because of the massage itself.
But Mama (jojo’s mom) had an open heart surgery and nag keloid ang chest nya, she tried steroids pero hindi umepekto. Ito ang nakapag pa flatten ng keloid nya.
And just last night, I saw jojo’s scar nag straighten na. I was in awe kasi yung isang tahi sa arm nya is contracted, hindi pantay yung banat ng skin at laman. I only applied this twice palang, numipis na yung keloid and nagstraight na yung skin. Hindi na mukang banat na banat don sa site ng tahi 🙀 sayang I wasnt able to tale a pic nung scar nya😔
Ayun. Pero I also believe that the massage played a big part. Yung massage ang nagdadala ng blood flow, without the blood flow no healing will occur on the site ☺
This herbal ointment is kind of sticky parang petroleum jelly kaya for me di adviseable gamitin during the day. I apply it on my lower legs at night lang. 😁
You can get this at Dr. Bulmer’s clinic at Capitol Medical Center in Q. Ave. I think her clinic is everyday till 11 or 12nn. ☺ its 400 pesos per mini tub, sulit I am telling you. A tub will last for morethan a year☺

Comics read 2/11/19-2/16/19
DC Comics Classics Library: Justice League of America by George Perez, by Gerry Conway, George Perez, Frank McLaughlin, & John Beatty
This book collects JLA #184-186, & #192-194. I have fond memories of this era of the “Satellite Era” of JLA because of the random issues I had previous to that (there was a Dr. Destiny story that was pretty cool, I seem to remember) but as a kid, I started picking up JLA more regularly a few years later, with issue 220 or so. it’s kind of funny to realize that my first real attachment to the comic (before I became a mega-fan with the Giffen/Dematteis/Maguire run) is the “Detroit Years” that get made fun of so much.
The comics in this book are really weird to read as someone who imprinted on Perez as the Teen Titans/Crisis On Infinite Earths artist. The work here is practically amateurish compared to what he was doing on the Teen Titans, apparently drawn at the same time. He’d already been drawing comics professionally for like 6 years by this point, so it might just come down to inkers here (first Frank McLaughlin & then John Beatty, to better results). He’s already really into drawing hella rubble. Regardless, I didn’t find a whole lot in these comics that I loved. The New Gods crossover is bad, and Tornado Tyrant… No thanks.
The Steel Claw #1-2, by H. Ken Bulmer, Jesus Belasco, & Garry Leach
The Steel Claw is about an unscrupulous guy who gets zapped in a science experiment so that if he’s electrocuted (?!) he turns invisible. Well, his body and clothes turn invisible, but his STEEL CLAW does not. He is just a normal guy that has a robotic hand at the opening of the book, it’s totally unexplained. Just: “Hey I’m a jerk with a STEEL CLAW. And now I’m invisible, but my STEEL CLAW is floating through the air, isn’t that an uncanny sight!”
He (of course!) immediately goes on a crime spree, murdering people and robbing banks and threatening New York with a nuclear bomb (that he must have gotten off-panel, that’s also not explained). But his invisibility keeps wearing off, so he has to keep electrocuting himself over and over, to lesser results each time. Garry Leach only provides these odd framing pages and covers, which makes me very curious to see if he ever drew any proper adventures of the STEEL CLAW.
As a side note, whoever bagged and boarded these used that super sticky scotch tape and it got caught on the cover of issue 2 when I was putting it back in—and it ripped off part of the image, right on the logo! I’m pissed! Don’t do that shit. That was a nice cover, and it’s not like I’m going to stumble across another copy of STEEL CLAW #2 any time soon.
The Comet #1 by Bill Dubay, Carmine Infantino, Alex Nino, & Rudy Nebres (1983)
This is pretty wild, The Comet just goes around melting bad guys like the real Golden Age hero that he is, but it’s also got some early 80s affectations—mainly a burgeoning desire to reframe all these wacky old ideas in a modern context. There’s a framing device where a shirtless (and visorless, which is unexplained) Comet is having a sleepover at a shirtless SHIELD’s apartment and he tells him the story of his origin—and also all about the murders he loves to commit. It’s weird.
I think this series was supposed to be 6 issues long (according to the blurb on #2’s cover) but the internet is leading me to believe that it only lasted 2 issues. A shame, since most of the art here is by Carmine Infantino & Alex Nino. Nino’s inks on Infantino’s pencils are cool as shit. Look at that cover!
Outer Darkness #4 by John Layman & Afu Chan
Again, this book is good. I hope people are picking it up.
Wonder Twins #1 by Mark Russell & Stephen Byrne
There was a weird joke about the wonder twins getting super horny in a lightning storm, and apparently Bruce Wayne likes the Bee Gees. I liked it but I probably won’t be picking up future issues?
Superman # 8 by Brian Bendis, Ivan Reis, & Brandon Peterson
Murder Falcon #5 by Daniel Warren Johnson & Mike Spicer
This is a pretty self-consciously “FUN!” comic but it still works. Daniel Warren Johnson is a very talented artist and storyteller working in a mode similar to James Harren. The heavy metal stuff and the monsters stuff all work a lot better than the relationship stuff. Those scenes tend to grind the book to a halt and Johnson oversells the body language and dialog trying to hit those obvious Emo buttons. It’s a small complaint though, since overall it’s a good read.
Oblivion Song #12 by Robert Kirkman & Lorenzo De Felici
The art is still really good. Plot-wise, the last couple issues have felt like it was treading water, but this one packs in a lot—probably due to it being the final chapter of the eventual second collection.

Warning: contains spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog #9
It might not have been his intent, but Sonic the Hedgehog has become an unwitting partner in actually helping Dr. Eggman create the next ultimate weapon to defeat him and the Restoration.
The unintentional partnership began after Sonic and his companions Amy Rose and Tails stumbled upon a strange tower when investigating the source of some severe weather anomalies off the coast. Upon infiltrating the tower, the trio discovered that the evil mad scientist constructed it as a means to test out his latest inventions, and as Dr. Eggman's guests, they have essentially become unwitting test subjects.
Related: Sonic The Hedgehog Lost His Mind in Official Game Canon
Dr. Eggman has already tested out many of his latest diabolical inventions on Sonic and his friends throughout the tower's numerous, physics-defying rooms. The first was undoubtedly the most unnerving, though not as effective as it could have been, as the test transpired in an empty town filled with stuffed versions of Sonic's friends. From the main control room, two of Eggman's henchmen pulled the lever on a slot machine that combined random parts of preexisting Badniks before sending them on their way to fight the three intruders in the fake town.
After getting coerced into another area of the tower, Sonic now finds himself fighting against three elemental Badniks that Dr. Eggman is controlling remotely with a VR headset (and enjoying every minute of it), as of Sonic the Hedgehog #39 by Evan Stanley and Abby Bulmer. Ironically, the tower might have initially been a way for Eggman to identify the next best weapon to use against Sonic and his friends, but as the battle continues to unfold, it appears as though the test might actually eradicate his fast, blue nemesis on its own. Luckily for Sonic, two other Restoration allies who were not supposed to come with him snuck into the tower and are on their way to help.
Although an intriguing setup, the tests that Dr. Eggman has employed so far pale in comparison to the Metal Virus he unleashed upon Sonic's world a few issues back. The Metal Virus was so effective that it not only infected Sonic and transformed most of the population into robotic zombies, but got so out of hand that it required a plagued Sonic and Dr. Eggman to team up, especially when the so-called leader of the Deadly Six, Zavoc, took advantage of his ability where he can manipulate magnetics to control all of Dr. Eggman's robotic zombies. Everything now seems small and rather bland in comparison, although the creepy fake town added a small element of horror that the series hasn't seen since the Metal Virus. Even though these are all tests and Dr. Eggman likely won't use something that fails here, they are all just different versions of Badniks, which shows where Dr. Eggman's head is and proves that he's incapable of thinking outside the box. Hopefully, Dr. Eggman will realize this and go for a much bigger, grander scheme, that is, if Sonic and his friends survive.
