Who Did What for Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure

So the 900th Adventure was basically this years Annual in spirit, but instead of multiple shorter stories, it told one big story, but with the number of writers and art teams that you would get in a multi-story annual anyways. Part 1 (pages 1-6): Set-up with Tails

Writer: Ian Flynn (the original main writer on IDW Sonic and post-Metal Virus continues to be one of the main writers, including being the main writer of IDW's Classic Sonic specials. Been with the franchise since becoming a writer for the Archie comics back in '06 and served as the writer for Sonic Frontiers)

Artist: Adam Bryce Thomas (one of the main IDW Sonic artists. been around since the latter half of Archie's reboot)

Colors: Valentina Pinto (initially a secondary colorist whose biggest credit was doing the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, recently seems to have graduated to being one of the main colorists this year)

Part 2 (pages 7-12): Amy and the Orca

Writer/Artist: Evan Stanley (the other main writer of IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus as well as one of the main artists, been around since late in Archie's pre-reboot era)

Colors: Gigi Dutreix (regular cover artist and occasional inker and has even written a few stories; co-authoring Victory Garden from the 2019 Annual and its follow up Future Growth, which they also colored, and solo-writing The Catalyst from 2020's Annual)

Part 3 (pages 13-18): Knuckles and Metal Sonic

Writer: Nigel Kitching (one of the main writers of the old UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions back in the 90s)

Artist: Mauro Fonseca (regular artist, major credits so far include Sonic Learns to Drive from the 30th Anniversary Special, co-designing Surge & Kit, doing the A-covers for the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, and doing a bunch of stuff in the concurrent and upcoming main book issues. Also relevantly used to be a regular contributor to the Sonic the Comic-Online fan continuation)

Inks: Rik Mack (recent regular inker, being the main inker on Mauro's more recent interior art for the comic as well as inking other artists, most notably on Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. Recently did some coloring on the back-half of issue 61 as well. Also another former StC-O regular)

Colors: Reggie Graham (one of the main colorists on IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus, after having been a regular on covers beforehand, as well as being another former StC-O regular)

Part 4 (pages 19-24): Eggman and his Mech

Writer: Daniel Barnes (writer of Weapons from the 2022 Annual and the Scrapnik Island miniseries)

First before I say anything I have to shout out Evan who has been the most incredible father not only the past 7 weeks but also the 9 months prior. Evan literally changed both mine and amalias diapers in the hospital and there was a time where he was running between me, extremely sick in recovery post emergency surgery, and Amalia in the NICU,  receiving updates, giving comfort, all at 4 am.

 I have a memory of Evan and I in college before we started dating late one night intensely debating if god existed. If god existed what did he (or she) have power over? Should that mean we should be observant? Why did bad things happen? If he doesn’t exist what’s the point in religion?? What is life all for? We never reached a conclusion. 

I say all of this because we ended up choosing the name Amalia which means “gods work” or “work of god” and I think I can speak from both of us when I say after seeing the way Amalia came into this world, after spending 7 weeks with her perfect little nose and fingers. Seeing her smile in the bath, the way she curls up into us and holds onto my chest. Her expressive faces and her leg lifts, we have no doubt she is gods work. She is our work of god. 

Amalia (or as her cousins call her, baby Mali) is named for my mother, Melissa. For anyone who didn’t know my mother passed away 4 years ago at only 54 years old. My mother was so many things. Too many for me to be able to speak about in my allotted time. There’s so much of my mother that I want Amalia to have but I’ve decided to just highlight a few today.

I hope, just like your savta missy, Amalia, you always stands up for yourself. I hope you’re never quiet and always advocate for what you believe in even when it’s hard, even when it feels like no one is listening.

Just like your savta missy I hope you put family above all else. I hope your life is filled with Shabbat dinners with so many people you have to permanently have the leaf open in your dining room table. I hope you take the extra flight, even when you’re exhausted, even when it’s expensive,  for a family simcha, a chag with your best friends, a funeral for someone you’ve never met but meant the world to someone you love. 

Lastly, just like your savta missy I hope you know that just by being born, just by being you, you are you are apart of something much larger than yourself, you are apart of the jewish people. and no matter how you practice or where you go, you are apart of a resilient nation. One that even in times as dark as October 7th, finds light and repairs. 

Amalia, your abba and I love you so much. You are already our entire world. Our hearts existing and beating outside of us in human form. We can’t wait to see all the ways you honor and use your powerful name.

The entertainment industry has reached a transformative moment, marked by the dawn of the "Silver Age." This era is defined by a period of artistic and diverse evolution, accompanied by notable commercial successes in the realms of films and music. The Silver Age officially commenced on January 1, 2020, with the rise of Emerson Wright, who initiated a tidal wave of innovation in storytelling, with a keen focus on enhancing diversity and representation.

The Silver Age stands as a peer to the legendary Golden Age, owing to its remarkable collection of successful movies and music. What truly distinguishes this era is its unwavering commitment to diversity, boasting a diverse team of filmmakers and celebrities, and making inclusivity a cornerstone of its identity.

One of the most pivotal moments in the Silver Age was the ascent of Emerson Wright. He succeeded Lawrence Harland, who resigned amid calls for his departure, stemming from an investigation that revealed his undue influence over the results of the prestigious Ross Awards, which favored a white woman winning the Best Actress award. The concluding years of Lawrence's presidency were marred by allegations of racism, corruption, and nepotism.

Emerson Wright's election as president in 2020 marked a watershed pledging to provide a platform for those whose voices had been silenced during Lawrence's presidency. Under his leadership, a series of groundbreaking films were released, underscoring the paramount importance of diversity.

The inaugural film of the Silver Age, Zero Zero Zero (2020), featured a diverse ensemble cast that represented a wide array of backgrounds. This was soon followed by On Her Own Ground (2020) and The Year of the Woman: Hill v. Thomas (2020), both trailblazing productions that marked Hollywood's first films with a predominantly Black cast.

Emerson Wright collaborated with the president of MC-Wylde, Davis Wylde, to establish the independent Ross Awards Committee. This marked a significant departure from the past, when Hollywood Studios had control over the Ross Awards. Hans Newmann took the helm as the first president of this new committee.

In 2021, Davis Wylde stepped down as the president of MC-Wylde, and Beijing Lee assumed the position with a vision to be the primary platform for Asian voices. This shift was particularly significant, especially in light of Emerson Wright's efforts to diversify the industry.

The following year, Vanity Chariot, the leading news agency in the entertainment industry, announced a major overhaul and restructuring of the studio. President Aramis Giordano stepped down amidst accusations of racism and favoritism towards White and Asian stories and individuals. Lancer Knight assumed leadership and announced a more diverse roster of columnists, underscoring the significance of inclusion.

Cygna Entertainment, a subsidiary of MC-Wylde established in 2018 to focus on Black movies, made the decision to become an independent studio with Delaurentis McQueen leading this new venture. This separation came after growing calls for better representation of Black stories after Anya Parrish won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Carolyn Bryant in Till (2022), the White accuser of Emmett Till, in an otherwise all-Black film.

This year, Browning Entertainment Record was established, with a primary focus on music, reflecting the burgeoning talent in the industry since 2020 with the rise of CAVIAR, Lunarys, Evan Tanaka, Bryanna Cho, Aiden Carillo, and Eileen Pham.

The tenth annual Ross Awards featured a diverse array of nominees, making it the most inclusive event in the entertainment industry's history. A majority of the nominees, 40%, were of Asian descent, a trend that had been ongoing since the Asian Age from 2017 to 2020. Black nominees accounted for 20% of the total, marking a new high for the industry. Middle Eastern and Hispanic nominees constituted a total of 12% of nominees. Among the Best Director nominees, 40% were Black, and 20% were Hispanic, also setting a new industry record.

While the Silver Age may not have completely resolved all the issues favoring White and Asian filmmakers and stories, it represents a significant step towards a more diverse and inclusive future in the entertainment industry. This is a time of transformation, growth, and the ongoing pursuit of a more equitable and diverse entertainment landscape.

Delaurentis McQueen – Following the separation of Cygna Entertainment from its parent company MC-Wylde, Delaurentis’s ascent to the position as the first Black president in the entertainment industry carries a profound significance in reshaping the narrative of representation. In an industry historically dominated by a lack of diversity, Delaurentis’s leadership and vision mark a monumental leap towards a more inclusive platform. Under his guidance, Richelle Paisley achieved an historic feat by becoming the first Black actress to win the prestigious Best Actress at the Ross Awards. This is a testament of the impact that diverse leadership can have on fostering opportunities for underrepresented talents.
