Sometimes I realise that to non-Irish people TG4 is not inherently Irish and they’d pronounce it T-G-four. Which is so wrong it makes my brain hurt.

Way back in the early eighties, when Channel Four (and it's Welsh Language equivalent Sianel Pedwar Cymru) was launched, they showed 'The Prisoner' and as I watched it for the first time, I realised that this show would always be up there with Dr Who as one of my faves. 'Hammer Into Anvil' will always be in my Top Ten best episodes.

Also FYI, I grew up in Wales, near Portmeirion, were The Prisoner was filmed, and I learned to swim on the beach where so much was filmed.

Anyway back to the point, I especially loved the last episode, 'Fall Out' and how well the song 'All You Need Is Love' fit into the feel of the whole crazy thing.

A few years later, ownership of the Beatles back catalogue changed hands, and virtually overnight, their music seemed to almost completely disappear from the radio airwaves. Other contemporary music could still be heard, but apart from a few very rare examples, nothing. Years later, and The Prisoner starts running on a cable channel, and I'm ecstatic, as I finally have a chance to share it with Gnome Queen Tonka Toy Legs, and I was right she loved it as much as I did, except, when we got to the end, no song, just generic background music. Did I misremember? Was this the fault of those bloody bears again?

No, because about a decade later, after the back catalogue had changed hands again, the music returned to the radio, and a digitally remastered version of The Prisoner was released on Blu Ray, with 'All You Need Is Love' returned to it's rightful place in 'Fall Out'.

We also introduced The Prisoner to The Monkey Nut, who also loved it, and when we got our first car, one of our first holidays was to the area in Wales I grew up in, and of course a visit to Portmeirion was organised, and the look on their faces when we came round the corner to see Number Six's house, and the Green Dome was priceless.
