My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Wynne Meisenbach
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
After spending several decades battling my own eating psychology struggles and having countless friends and strangers alike ask me for help with their eating psychology issues, I felt an overwhelming urge to share what I had learned. When I discovered the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, I knew that I had found the structure I had been looking for what would enable me to convey the wisdom which is necessary to grow from a place of contraction around food and body to a place of ease and well being. I have a grand passion for helping others find freedom from the ties that bind them, be they of a nutritional, emotional, physical or spiritual nature.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
Being an Eating Psychology Coach is rewarding in just about every way I could imagine. I am able to earn a living helping people resolve issues on which they had long ago given up hope. Watching my clients’ lives transform from “just going through the motions” to “feeling alive, empowered and engaged” is more satisfying than I could ever adequately describe.
What does your practice look like?
I see clients who are dealing with a broad spectrum of concerns, because I am also a Certified Neurofeedback trainer, a Certified Medical Support Clinical Hypnosis Practitioner, and a Certified Birth Into Being Facilitator-in-Training. However, the training I received through the IPE is applicable to almost all of my clients. I work a lot with those who are dealing with issues of binge eating, overeating, body image, energy and fatigue, perfectionism, and weight loss. Probably every person I see is someone with whom I work on stress management in some form or another. I specialize in working with musicians and mothers and families preparing to welcome a new child into their family. I work with clients in person, as well as through video call.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
My training at the Institute helped me to have a framework in which to work with clients. There is so much that goes into helping people who are suffering with unwanted habits or unwanted health issues. The Training gave me an understanding of where to start, ideas on how to structure sessions, a long list of helpful exercises I can give my clients and thoughtful information on running a business in this day and age.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
It would be difficult to pick one aspect of the IPE training that was my absolute favorite. They all work together so beautifully to create a deep and rich understanding of the material. If I had to pick, I would probably say that I got the most out of the the Facebook group and the staff support offered there.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
Adding Eating Psychology Coaching to my business has drawn in a new type of client and made me better at helping the ones I already had. I constantly hear from my clients how important the work that I do is in their lives and I am getting more referrals than I had prior to my IPE training.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
Prior to my training, I had read hundreds, if not thousands, of books on Mind Body Nutrition and related subjects. Instead of creating a feeling of being well informed, this only served to generate a fear of missing out. Training with IPE has resulted in a much more relaxed relationship with the way I approach learning as well as with food and my body. This has translated into a more joyful experience in life in general, increased my overall well being and has improved my relationships.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
In the future, I hope to focus on addressing the needs of mothers and families who are welcoming a new soul into their family. The experience a child has during the pre and perinatal period sets them up for how they will relate to others, their bodies, and their life. If I can help families to elevate their consciousness, become more embodied, and find their joy. I believe that we will all benefit from a higher quality of life.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
I would recommend this training to others who find themselves stuck in a rut in their life, to those who want to make a difference in the lives of others, and to those who already have some kind of helping practice but who find themselves at a loss when it comes to discussing matters of food, body, or spirituality.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Overall, this training has given me a comfort and confidence that I did not know was even missing in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible and knowledgeable group of thoughtful professionals.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Carmen Morcos
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
The mother of a dear friend had stage IV lung cancer, despite never having smoked a cigarette in her life. They were both in NY as part of a cancer trial. Our hearts broke when her mother eventually passed away. I witnessed their journey, and my heart opened up to a whole new awareness for nutrition, health, spirituality, and overall “wellness.” I began to read incessantly and started questioning how all these were integrated. That is when my own journey began. I became an Eating Psychology Coach with the Institute for the Psychology, which opened up many more doors for me. I then went on to also become a RYT200 through Abhaya Yoga, and a Living Meditation teacher under the guidance of David H. Wagner.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love helping people break down the barriers that hinder the attainment of an explosive, visionary life. I love helping people delve deep into one of the most intimate relationships they will ever have, one that will be with them forever. I love helping people develop and sustain a nourishing and pleasurable relationship with food. I love helping people embrace the sensuality of food and their bodies. It humbles me to see people step into radical transformation and obtain what they deserve – to live in beautiful abundance – body, mind, and spirit.
What does your practice look like?
My background working in the private and nonprofit sectors gives me a unique perspective into corporate environments. I hold a joint-degree, Masters in Business Administration and Foreign Service from Georgetown University, which has enabled me to pursue both career paths. I have experienced the highs and lows, pros and cons of each working environment, and am keenly aware of the health challenges posed. I feel proud to offer a whole suite of services in an integrated fashion. I am a one-stop shop: yoga, meditation, and nutrition. I offer classes and workshops for different organizations around the city including the corporate offices of International Planned Parenthood, New York College of Podiatric Medicine, and Movement Improvement Physical Therapy. I also teach at Abhaya Yoga in Brooklyn, as well as offer private 1:1 sessions and workshops in my home in Brooklyn.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
My training gave me all the tools (practical and theoretical) to successfully work with clients, delve deep into their psyches, and become an investigator not only of their issues with health/nutrition, but of their lives. It taught me how to go beyond the basics of nutrition to work with people on a human, soul level – which is where true lasting transformation happens and takes hold. It taught me so much about how our relationship with food reflects our relationship with life, and teach clients this connection which is so often lost on them.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
My favorite aspect was everything! In particular the live event – meeting my fellow trainees, Marc and Emily, and connecting in person blew my heart wide open. I will never forget that weekend. It was the ultimate culmination of so many months of soul work that ended with one of the largest heart openings I’ve ever experienced.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
I initially did the training purely out of interest and inspiration – with no plans to offer myself professionally. Yet Life had a different plan for me. I created my own health & wellness practice and now offer yoga, meditation, and health coaching. Clients and opportunities are flowing in. My vision is to integrate this work with my other passion – international development and philanthropy and offer workshops specifically to people in my field, tailored to their contexts and life situations (including the at-risk youth we serve).
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
It has changed my life. It has opened up so many doors that I didn’t know existed. It has expanded who I am, and what I’m meant to give to this world. It has inspired me to develop my unique gift in ways I never imagined.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
My work is evolving towards offering more courses and workshops for people in international development & philanthropy, many who travel to the field or work in the communities they serve, with little time for themselves. They spend a vast amount of time helping others, and often do not have enough time to replenish. Many live overseas, are isolated, and do not have access to in-person workshops or sessions. I want to offer my work online, so that everyone can have access. I also want to translate my offerings to Spanish to reach more of those that do not traditionally have access to this kind of work.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Best investment I’ve ever made.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Lena Schellenberg
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
I already held a certificate in exercise and sports nutrition but wasn’t gaining any long term success with clients. I always knew eating challenges weren’t about food per se, having suffered with bulimia for 7 years, and I wanted to offer something life changing for clients, and know more about myself in the process. I found the Institute for the Psychology of Eating and I knew that it was going to change the game with my practice, and it has!
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love being an Eating Psychology Coach because I know that what I’m offering to people is more than just another diet or meal program. I’m offering the tools and coaching they need to truly change their lives by empowering them to be vulnerable and intimate with themselves and others. They have more courage to face the challenges they’re going through.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
My education has led me to so many different people, clients, and opportunities that never would have happened had I not had this specific Training. People are interested when you talk about the psychological side of eating and how their emotions and life reflect the way they eat; they can sympathize with that. People are looking for something different, everything else has failed them, and this is an aspect of health and eating that most people haven’t heard of before. People are willing to try something that’s not another diet.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
My favorite part of the training was all the information I learned. Marc David really over delivered in the lessons that were taught. Truly, the information is priceless.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
Being an Eating Psychology Coach has impacted my personal life on so many levels, I don’t even know where to begin. Embracing my femininity and learning to love and listen to my body has been life altering. I always had walls up to protect myself, even if that meant hurting myself in the process. Letting go and accepting my story really helped me break free from a lot of shame I experienced in my past.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
Like I said, I’m writing a book right now. It’s about changing your mindsets around food and body in order to transform our lives and our health. I’m running my business, taking personal clients, and hope to do some public speaking soon.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
If you want something different than every other diet or meal system that actually works, Eating Psychology is the way to go. Once you dive into what true health really looks like, nothing else will satisfy.
NAME: Lena Le Huray (Lena Schellenberg) EPC, PFT BUSINESS: Jaded Nutrition WEBSITE: jadednutrition.com
BIO: My ultimate passion is nutrition and seeing people’s lives change by the choices they make with food. My interest in the food/body connection started in my late teens as I suffered through an eating disorder that lasted 7 years. I knew that the issues in my life were reflecting my food choices and the way I behaved towards food and my body, and was compelled to dig deeper into this intimate connection. After spending countless hours doing my own inner healing, formal research and talking to professionals about how to overcome my eating disorder, answers and insights began to emerge. I’d like to say that everything changed in an instant, but it certainly did not. I refrained from the physical act of bulimia but still had disordered thinking about food and body. That’s when I found The Institute for the Psychology of Eating. Already holding a certificate in Sports and Exercise Nutrition, I knew that I needed something different for myself and my clients that would truly help them overcome any eating challenge they might have by helping them look into every other area of life that may be affecting their choices. The more work I began to do, the more healing that took place and the more confident I became in who I am as a person and as a practitioner. My mandate is to help people succeed with food and body challenges by giving them practical and useful tools, powerful insights, and realistic strategies.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Brenda Bliss
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
I have always been interested in people, the way they think and act. I wanted to combine my nursing career with my coaching. I want to make a difference in people’s lives.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love being an Eating Psychology coach because I can make a difference in people’s lives as they do mine.
What does your practice look like?
I am a hospital based nurse on a mother baby unit, I have combined both careers. This allows me to I have much greater insight into my patient’s health and wellness. I also have a private practice for my coaching, in which I am available for in person or Skype sessions. I try to make it as convenient for my clients as possible, we all have busy lives.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
My training at the Institute prepared me on a personal and professional level. On the personal level, I have struggled with eating issues my whole life, I thought that I had to be at a perfect weight/perfect person, in order to help people. What I have learned is that it is a journey, one that is perfect in itself. We all struggle in some way, this program has taught me self-acceptance and that is a gift in itself. Professionally, it gave me much more insight into the health of my patients increasing my assessment skills and allowing me to relate on a much deeper level.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
My favorite part of the program are the downloadable audios, I drive a lot and was able to listen and learn while I drove. I also liked the tests!
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
The program has impacted my personal life in a huge capacity. I have always been very hard on myself, my self image, what I ate. The program has allowed me to take the pressure off, to explore who I am and what type of eater. Instead of holding onto to what I had been programmed to believe by my old tapes and the media. It has taught me self acceptance. Couldn’t say right away, but it must have. Everything we experience in life changes us. We live, we learn.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
I am hoping that I can take my coaching and nursing profession to a new level, one of holistic/preventative care rather than crisis management that is our health system today. I have continued to build on my knowledge base, and it is my goal to continue combining my coaching with my nursing background.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
I would definitely recommend this program to anyone struggling with their own weight issues and/or wanting to help others with theirs. I believe that the two are a beautiful combination and it is wonderful to be able to have a deep discussion with someone and connect on a heart level.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Jodie Gale
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
As a woman in recovery from bulimia for 20 years and a soul-centred psychotherapist for over 15 years – I specialize in working with women who suffer with food, weight and body image concerns. Over the years, I have often despaired at the state of treatment for people who suffer with these issues as many programs are solely weight, disease, illness and medically orientated. I was so inspired when I first started following The Institute for the Psychology of Eating on Facebook. I loved the forward thinking, hopeful and positive approach. The language Marc David and Emily Rosen used for food, weight and body image concerns was non-pathologizing and soulful. The program wasn’t just focused on symptom reduction or weight loss; rather, it was going much deeper than this, exploring the gifts and messages underlying the symptoms. At that time, I was looking to expand and diversify my practice through coaching and group programs. I felt such a deep connection with Marc and Emily’s work; I knew this was the coaching training for me. I also needed some upskilling and thought that my clients would benefit from the mind-body nutritional aspects included in the Eating Psychology Coach certification.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
Ask most women and they will tell a similar story; they can’t go anywhere without being bombarded by fat and diet talk, body hate and body shame; it’s become a global epidemic. Behaviours and attitudes historically associated with diagnosable eating disorders have crept their way into everyday women’s lives and culture. Because of these internalised messages, women believe they are broken, or that something is terribly wrong with them and the only answer to this is to look a certain way, to lose weight and to be thin. This training provided me with such a creative way to help women see that their food, weight and body image challenges are a call to awaken to something deeper within themselves; at the core – they are whole and unbroken, they are worthy of love and worthy of living a life full of pleasure regardless of their body size! I see it as a blessing to be invited into someone’s soul journey and bear witness as they blossom and awaken to their true self. Through my coaching practice, I am also part of a growing movement to shift the way our culture views these issues – this work is full of value, meaning and purpose!
What does your practice look like?
I work in private practice from my home office as a soul-centred psychotherapist + eating psychology coach on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. I specialise in working with women suffering with eating disorders and other food, weight and body image concerns. The women I see range in age from 18 to 75 and come from all sorts of backgrounds. I am also a stay-at-home mother to two small children so my practice is currently part-time. I’ve been full for over a year and have 70+ people on a notification list. Including Dynamic Eating Psychology and Mind-Body Nutrition has really appealed to prospective clients. I am in the process of creating an individual and group program based on my training at the IPE as well as my learnings from the many women’s workshops that I have participated in over the years.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
Prior to the training, I had never participated in an online course and I’ll be honest, I was sceptical about the level of depth it would be able to go to. But….I was proven wrong! Professionally, the training provided such a depth of understanding regarding the issues that people struggle with around food, weight and body image as well as a great foundation in practical coaching skills. Personally, it helped me to challenge, work through and shift some of my own mindsets and behaviours. In conjunction with the above, the support in the private Facebook group from IPE staff and other trainees was invaluable in terms of preparation for working with clients.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
I loved everything about this training! From the start, it was evident that the whole team at Institute for the Psychology of Eating were leading the way in how to work with food, weight and body image difficulties. Throughout every interaction, whether it was via audio, video or discussions within the Facebook group – the team were authentic, empathic, knowledgeable and masters at their craft. I was relieved to come away from the training ready to practice; the handouts and resources were all there ready to go.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
Training as an Eating Psychology Coach has turned my practice and work/life balance around. As soon as I was qualified, I diversified my long-term psychotherapy practice into a more eclectic practice where I now see a handful of long-term therapy clients and a mix of short and medium-term eating psychology coaching clients. Although I have always worked with food, weight and body image concerns, the depth of the training gave me the confidence to niche in this field. With this specialization, I am now seen as the ‘go-to’ professional in my area. This has brought magazine and other media opportunities. Just last week I was interviewed for the Women in Depth Podcast because they had seen, and loved, one of the Eating Psychology quotes on my website.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
Although it wasn’t a requirement of the Training, I felt that it was important for me to have a lived experience as a client with my own Eating Psychology Coach. I consider myself a wounded healer – I wouldn’t be the psychotherapist and eating psychology coach that I am without having been through my own eating, weight and body image difficulties. Participating in the training and delving deep with my own coach, I have a renewed sense of hope and I have experienced major changes in the what, how, when and why of how I eat. In addition, I am raising two children and it’s important to me that I can now teach them how to have a wholesome and balanced relationship with food, body and soul.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
I am so excited about the evolution of my practice! My new website is currently being built and it will feature more prominently, my new eating psychology programs for individuals and groups. I am the Disordered Eating Consultant for Nungkari Treatment Centre in Byron Bay and I am currently designing a workshop for their staff based on my eating psychology training. I have just started writing two books – the first one is an eBook about Befriending the Body which will be available for free when my new website goes live. Anyone on my current mailing list will also receive a copy. The other book is a longer term project about food, weight and body image.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
Over the last 20 years, I have trained in many approaches for food, weight and body image difficulties – the training at the IPE is without a doubt leading the way in this field. The soul has largely been neglected in modern psychology – this is soul work at its best! Whether a trainee is starting out green to this field, or like me, someone who is already working with people with food, weight and body concerns, this training will definitely add value both personally and professionally.
Anything else you’d like to share?
It’s really great being a part of the graduate community and because the Training has members from all over the world, I have made some wonderful connections with people who are as passionate about this work as I am.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Miriam Byrne
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
I have a deep curiosity about human behaviour. Why do people do what they do when they know that it’s not in their best interest and damages their health and wellbeing? I wanted to look beyond food when supporting clients to heal their relationship with eating and body image and this course resonated deeply with me. Giving clients detailed dietary recommendations on their own is not enough to effect powerful and lasting change, I feel that the emotional side was every bit as important as food and exercise.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
I love that this approach to eating is innovative and invites the client onto a journey of discovery and self-reflection. It is not another ‘new diet’ that sets the client up for more failure. Also I can give clients recommendations, such as slowing down their pace of eating, which they can start implementing at the very next meal so this helps build momentum for working on more challenging areas.
What does your practice look like?
I work with women from all backgrounds, from high achieving career women to busy stay-at-home mothers. My own background in Corporate Finance (I initially trained as an accountant) helps me to understand the relentless pressure women can find themselves under trying to juggle all their commitments at work and at home. I work with weight loss resistance, emotional eating, stress, and hormonal imbalances.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
As an auditory learner, I found the most useful aspect of the course to be the audios which I downloaded and listened to everywhere – especially in the car. Each time I re-listened to a lecture I absorbed something new, there is quite a volume of information on this course and it takes time to fully integrate it so you can confidently apply the distinctions with clients.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
Being able to offer prospective clients eating psychology coaching alongside recommendations around nutrition and lifestyle helps to set me apart from other nutritionists in my area so it is a source of competitive advantage for my practice. I am first person in Ireland to complete this training at IPE so that gives me a USP!
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
I have gained so much on a personal level from training to become an Eating Psychology Coach. I have had my own struggles with erratic eating, especially during times of high stress. It has helped me to develop a more empowered relationship around food and this has ripple effects for my confidence in other areas of my life.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
I would like share my knowledge of nutrition and eating psychology with a wider audience through workshops and events. I will continue working on a 1-1 basis with clients as the satisfaction I get from witnessing their breakthroughs is immense. I am also writing a book and have got a publisher so this is another way I am bringing my message to more people.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
The Training is thorough and innovative and equips you to work confidently and skilfully with people in effecting powerful changes in their lives around such areas as eating, body image, digestion, and mood. There is a growing demand for coaches who can do this work in a compassionate and heart-centred way. Our busy and frantic world needs people with this Training! The Training leads you on a path of self-exploration and healing your own relationship with food and opens up doorways to a rewarding and meaningful career.

My Life as an Eating Psychology Coach: Meredith Newell
What made you want to become an Eating Psychology Coach?
Working in the field of nutrition and owning a catering business that focuses on whole, local foods, I couldn’t shake the feeling that pieces were missing. I spend my days talking about food and preparing food, but my clients seemed to need more. I met a woman who had just completed the training, and while she told me about it, goosebumps crept up my arms. The more I learned, the brighter the neon sign in my head flashed, “This is it!” People are more than the sum of their diet and exercise program. They are many-sided and in order to inspire real change, those various aspects need to be addressed. As an Eating Psychology Coach, I now have the tools to explore those areas and to help clients find the root of their challenges.
What do you love about being an Eating Psychology Coach?
Each day, with each client, I am humbled by their willingness to share their stories with me. I live for the opportunity to connect with those around me and participate in their journey and growth. In my practice, I gain more than I give. At the end of the day, I feel full and satisfied. There are few professions that could leave me feeling that way. As an Eating Psychology Coach, I feel like I have answered a calling.
What does your practice look like?
I am blessed to work in a functional medicine clinic, Advantage Integrative Medicine, where Dr. Rollins strives to treat the whole person, not just their symptoms. In functional medicine, nutrition and gut health are the foundation of the practice. Patients are treated as individuals and encouraged to heal themselves through healthy eating, stress relief, supplementation and preventative measures. I specialize in working with patients of all ages to determine what their body needs in terms of diet, movement and relaxation. While not every patient is scheduled specifically for an “Eating Psychology Visit”, I treat each patient using the tools I learned in the course. For example, a patient will be referred to me for delayed food allergy testing, and as we review their results, I mention the importance of slow, relaxed eating for proper digestion. We meet in person and over the phone, depending on the patient’s schedule and location. I have chosen not to structure my visits into packages or programs, because I find that each patient needs something different. Instead, I meet with them and let them determine what amount of support they need. Some patients meet with me once a month, while others like the accountability that comes with weekly visits.
How did your education at the Institute prepare you to work successfully with clients?
I couldn’t imagine a more comprehensive program in that we are taught the material, we immediately implement it in our lives and with our peers and are given a direct line of questioning to guide our clients into self-awareness. Nothing is left unanswered. When I began to see clients, my session was structured and I simply followed the guidelines laid out in the course. After I gained a level of comfort with the material, I pulled away from the structure in favor of a more fluid interpretation of the course. In this way, I make it my own.
What was your favorite aspect of the Training?
At no point in my training did I find it lacking in any way. Working full-time and running a business on the side, I was worried that I wouldn’t have the time to commit to the course. I was pleasantly surprised when I began the program and realized the flexibility it allowed. I loved having the audio files so that I could download them and listen while I cooked. Having the video allowed me to cement the information visually and to take notes. That one-two punch implanted the material in my brain without requiring formal studying. However, the case studies offered me the most riches. Marc’s application of the principles with his clients provided real world examples of cause and effect, completing the picture for me.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted your professional life/financial well-being?
Before taking this course, I was employed in the same way that I am now. Financially, my life hasn’t changed much—but I didn’t need it to. The training has impacted me more professionally. As I mentioned earlier, I feel content, complete in my position at the clinic. While I will always seek to know more, my knowledge is well-rounded and balanced. I finally have the words to express inklings and impressions that I have had with me for most of my life. I am a better practitioner, and my and my client’s lives are richer for it.
How has being an Eating Psychology Coach impacted you personally?
The gift in any accrued knowledge is the opportunity to grow from it. Like many counselors, I was drawn to this profession after struggling with my own eating issues. I have said to family and friends that the money I invested in this course would have been well spent if all I gained from it was my personal growth. Taking this course invited me to get real with myself. And while I am not completely free from the shackles of my challenges around food, I am equipped with the ability to love myself in spite of them, or maybe even because of them. As I turned up the volume on self-love, other areas of my life followed suit. I have experienced a deeper connection to my husband, family, friends and clients, because knowing myself better allows me to better know others. Loving myself more, increases my love for others. Being more compassionate with myself, makes me more compassionate to others.
What do you see for yourself in your future as an Eating Psychology Coach – where is your work evolving towards?
The future has seemed less interesting to me since completing this course. I am so enraptured with the right now. For most of my adult life, I have been working toward the next big thing. Assuring myself that, once I reached whatever goal I laid out, I would be content. For the last six months, I have found that my yearning for change has ceased. I am finally comfortable in my own skin and in the life that I have created. I am completely open to whatever comes next, because I know whatever it is, it will be good.
Why Would You Recommend the Training to Others?
This training offers more than just a new career; it offers you a relationship with yourself. The material applies to everybody, everywhere, which makes your potential for clientele infinite. Saying “yes” to this course means saying “yes” to a fuller life, not only for you, but for anyone who has the pleasure of knowing you.
NAME: Meredith Newell BUSINESS: Taproot
BIO: As a graduate of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, the world’s leading school in nutritional psychology, Meredith is at the forefront of a powerful, new, holistic nutritional healing movement that’s changing the way we understand food, weight, body image, holistic nutrition, and health.
Teaching “mind-body nutrition” Meredith looks at the psychophysiology of how digestion, assimilation, calorie burning and all the nutritive functions of the body are impacted by stress, relaxation, thought, emotion, pleasure, our personal story, eating rhythm, eating speed, awareness, and so much more. WHAT we eat is half the story of good nutrition. The other half of the story is WHO we are as eaters.
Practicing “dynamic eating psychology” she encourages a positive approach that sees all of our eating concerns as an opportunity for growth and transformation, exploring how our food challenges are here to teach us, rather than enemies to be attacked, and looking to uncover the connections between our personal world and our unwanted eating habits.
Meredith is skilled in teaching nutrition principles for general health, weight loss, delayed food allergies, and disease specific diets such as for diabetes or kidney disease. She is an expert in treating intestinal disorders such as “leaky gut”, dysbiosis and even autoimmune conditions such as Crohn’s disease.
Meredith’s work at the IMC is complemented by her boutique catering company, Taproot, which focuses on providing healthy, locally sourced meals. She shares her passion for food through cooking classes, recipes, meal plans, grocery store tours and weekly meals for our patients.
