My pieces for the Tales of Arcadia Zine organized by @demonunderpressure !!!

I had an amazing time working on the zine and being able to contribute to this passion project about this amazing show and characters that I adore so much!

The Douxie piece consisted of the imagery of him being surrounded by the magic of his loved ones while being in the void of the universe. His story and his life having impacted them so much, their magic embracing him and his legacy.

The Scrapbook piece, consisting of my vision of the future of these characters. The futures they deserved, a happy life together, moving on to college and spending time together. With stickers, references and just good times all around.

I also drew Nari for the cover! Showing off her magical butterflies!

(muttering to myself as I prepare for my sister’s Thanksgiving party) I shall wear this Douxie pin to ensure that no one takes me seriously. If I am lucky, they will all see that I am naught but a lady clown and no one will talk to me and I can just go home after we eat.

Wizards Paradox Episode 8: 456.

You read what zoe faced, now here's what douxie must face.

Some context: the 456 starred in Torchwood's third season titled children of earth and are essentially space stoners. What do they smoke, errrr, don't ask. Trust me, it's best you don't know. There's reasons fans of doctor who and torchwood say it's one of the darkest stories ever made, and I'm about to add to it.

This Episode is based on those 5 episodes but set elsewhere. With that out the way, let's begin (doing a part for a zine later this week, it'll help)

Douxie sees every child around him on the street stop. They begin chanting that they're coming back and Douxie's trying spells to no avail. So, douxie heads north to east London, where the mayor is concerned about everything going on. Douxie decides to do so for the mayor and investigates secretly over 3 days. Douxie learns of the 456 and their sensitive hearing and plans to use a guitar to stop them, but cannot as his magic keeps cutting out randomly. On the fourth day, douxie leaves to tell the mayor everything he knows, and when he does, they learn devastating news. The building douxie was in was under attack by them, and everyone inside died, which, with Douxie's magic unreliable, actually makes douxie silently think of how bad things could've been if he stayed and makes him question how much he relies on magic. The mayor is ordered to give 10% of london's kids, including his own, and he begs douxie to save them. So, with unreliable magic, he rescues how many he can and magics outside of London.

Meanwhile, zoe is watching all this from a time window like thing and asks the time beings to send her in. They agree but say something very concerning: they're not supposed to be there. Zoe wakes up under a blanket of an empty bed near douxie and helps move them around, and yes, even zoe's magic is affected. Eventually, people catch up to them, and douxie is taken somewhere secure whilst zoe runs with only one child who's 8. Zoe asks his name, but he says he's here to see a friend of his. Douxie wakes in a secure area with a distressed mother who's worried for her son.

We end this episode with the mysterious figure who was in the time thing with them slowly move and rift away. The music is starman and carries into the credits.

I wanted to make a proper post about this so here I goooo

If you follow me, you’ll know that I absolutely adore Douxie. He’s darn near everything I could ever love about a character. Heck, about a person. I mean he’s a cool goth-punk rocker who’s kind-hearted, who’s passionate about doing the right thing, who looks out for others, steadfast in his values, is a helpless goofball bean of a moppet, etc, etc. As I’ve said before, Douxie’s character truly revitalized the artist and writer in me. Easily one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Aaahhh I could go on and on about how much Douxie has inspired me.

*big sigh* And so....

Last year, as I sat in the aftermath of RoTT and lamented the unfair shortness of Wizards, I started imagining the idea of a Douxie spin-off series. I brainstormed that it could be called Hisirdoux: Tales of Arcadia or even just Hisirdoux and be all about Douxie’s life before the events of the main series or what he was up to in specific episodes of Trollhunters and 3Below, some kind of follow-up from RoTT (memories and Master Wizardness restored, of course), or all of the above! (And of course more Zoe!)

.....Yeah, it’s probably not gonna happen :’) Which, y’know, is okay and I have accepted it lol

BUT THEN

It’s a few months old but I only recently stumbled upon Aaron’s tweet:

Funny thing, I actually saw someone ask Aaron about the possibility of a spin-off (couldn’t find the tweet, sadly) and I remember him replying that, as much as he’d love that, it wasn’t his call to make.

.........LOOK I AIN’T TRYNA SAY NOTHIN’...............buuuuuut idk???? kiiiiiinda seems kinda, I dunno, kiiinda...y’know...y’know???

Ahem. 

Anywho, this most likely doesn’t mean anything, just a CRUEL playful comment in response to a ToA fan (btw it is really awesome that Aaron still engages with the fandom from time to time ^^). It’s more than likely that Douxie will forever be a small, sweet treasure. And ya know what? That’s perfectly fine. Yeah, his series was done kinda dirty but boy did that lad still shine. I mean an entire zine was made just for him. So many people adore Douxie, and it’s clear as daylight as to why. He’s not just a cool character. He’s an example. We may have only had him for 10 episodes, but the inspiration, the impact, carries on. So yeah...Aaron’s tweet is probably just a teasing throwaway.

But holy hexes if it doesn’t spark an inkling of hope XD

🎸🔥 A preview for my piece in the @douxiezine!! 🔥🎸

My gosh, I remember back in like September 2020 I thought about making a zine for Douxie. I had so many good friends in the fandom who inspired me to try new things, especially @faerie-ana and @ferisae. I owe so much to my co-mods, especially @spellcasterdouxie, for taking on so much when depression and stress got me down this year and last. This zine couldn't have gotten off the ground without their help, and I feel honored still to be a part of this. The artists in this zine are so enthusiastic, skilled, and passionate about our wizard boy, and I'm floored that we have the backing of @aaronwaltke and @tenyai, with both their blessing and talent. I can't even imagine how this all happened. It's a beautiful thing, and I can't wait for all of you to see the finished book and merch! ROCK ON!!

My first piece for the @douxiezine ! This was such a wonderful thing to be apart of with so many amazing artists and writers! I loved exploring Douxie's character as an apprentice. This piece was particularly inspired by Teny's sketches of little Douxie!

This scene is basically Douxie discovering his magic! Let's say he was sneaking around Merlin's library and found quite the powerful spell :) 💙
