One of the reasons I love Dousy so much is it's a second love ship for both of them but it never feels like a rebound, they moved on from their pasts and are making a unique connection with each other that has nothing to do with their exes or trying to get over someone else. I shipped Peggysous during AC too so no hate, but that felt like a major rebound on Peggy's side and like she was still pining for Cap, and I always thought Daniel deserved better than that. Also it's poetic that Daisy fell in love with a literal WWII veteran who fought the Nazis after everything Grant and HYDRA did to her, she deserved the happiest ending

One benefit i think Dousy has is that it happens 3-4 years after Lincoln and 5-10 years after Peggy, so it feels like both characters have developed past their previous love interests.

And I agree about how PeggySous feels like a rebound, especially after Endgame and What If.

And i LOVE that added poetry of Sousa being a WWII vet after what Ward and Hydra did to Daisy. And bonus points, it feels like Sousa fits the image of who Daisy thought Ward was. Being a stickler for the rules while still being kind. Of course Sousa has way more charm and a sense of humour that Ward didn't have.

I’m such a multishipper, it’s not even funny! Writing these fics has made me think about why I love all this pairings.

Shieldshock: Because Darcy is totally Steve’s type.

WinterShock: Behold the snarky goodness!

TaserBones: I blame the author Pumpkindoodles for this. I never would have shipped it but for their fanfics. Brock is pretty hateworthy in canon, but I actually kind of like him as a non-Hydra dude and it’s a very fun dynamic between him and Darcy.

WinterWitch: These poor dears have suffered so much, I love reading about them finding happiness together.

Romanogers: The couple who overthrows Shield together stays together!!! Chris and Scarlett just have chemistry through the roof.

Buckynat: Angsty goodness and tragic backstories galore! I think The MCU kept them apart because they were afraid of their combined power😏.

BuckySarah: Too precious for words! The flirting! The cuteness! Stepdad Bucky!!! ❤️❤️ Needs more! ❤️ (we know the actors ship it, too!)

BuckySharon: Enemies to lovers! Snarkiest City!

Steggy: Leaving aside the terribly executed ending that left 10 million plot holes, this is such a great pair!! MY FEELS!! I am happy they got their dance, though.

Dousy: The Agents of Shield writers pulled off an impressive feat in a short time and I ship Daniel and Daisy so hard. Makes me feel less sad about Endgame.

I think the reason daisy x Sousa worked for most AOS fans is because he made her happy, like genuinely happy, like season 1 Skye happy and we just craved the normalcy of Season 1, it really was a simpler time

Me, explaining to my mother the layers of history and maneuvering within the MCU that led from Daniel Sousa being Peggy Carter's intended endgame love interest, to Steve Roger's going back in time to be her endgame love interest instead, all within the frame of multiple films and tv shows, culminating in the unprecedented crescendo of writing that was Agents of Shield rescuing Daniel Sousa's arc to become the endgame love interest of Daisy Johnson:

And that is what makes it a masterstroke in writing, never seen before in the history of storytelling!

Hi thanks for answering! And exactly like I always thought (and I guess Endgame proved) that if Steve had showed up after Peggy started dating someone else, Peggy would've broken up with that person to be with Steve, and Steve would do the same for her. But if Peggy or Lincoln came back after Dousy got together, Dousy would stay with each other and have no regrets or second thoughts about that choice. And YES to Daniel being the superior version of everything Grant Ward was pretending to be. He's loyal, kind and loving, actual antifa, and probably gifted Daisy a belt with a giant Q buckle and writes her funny letters addressed to "O mightiest superhero Quake" on the typewriter she got him, the absolute dork

So I just realized something. Going by the MCU’s method of time traveling, we can assume that Steve Rogers didn’t actually marry original timeline Peggy Carter. He marries an alternate Peggy since by going back in time, he created an alternate timeline/universe that is separate from the main timeline. AOS also further expanded on this, especially in the S7 finale (Fitz’s plan of leaving the Chronicoms in the alternate timeline, keeping them out of the main timeline).

So what I realized is, if you really can’t change the timeline...that means Peggy and Sousa were always going to break up, even without Steve’s intervention. That also means Daniel Sousa was always meant to die alone in the 1950s. 

Luckily, a version of Daniel got a second chance at life.
