I love everything about this!! The art style is perfection! The reference to the Merciful Goddess's relationship to her nephew Konzen/Genjo is too good.

And the shout out to Homura!! HECK YES!

What an awesome take on Hazel having to confront the system of divinity within the world of Saiyuki.

Sometimes I wish the Merciful Goddess had appeared in the Even a Worm arc so that Hazel could have even more of an existential crisis than the story already gave him. But I guess his worldview was already plenty shattered by the end.

Also, I love Homura's design so I'm glad I finally got around to drawing him. All the characters from heaven are so pretty but they get treated so terribly...

White Hair and Trauma Preliminary 10 REDO: Yu-Gi-Oh!

this is a redo of the first yugioh poll, which also had kallin kessler and marik ishtar in the running. kallin gets into the tournament due to being from a different continuity (5ds) while marik is eliminated due to being BLOND!!!!

Trauma!

Bakura: Grew up in a tiny impoverished village of 'bandits' who had little choice other than theft to continue surviving. When he was still a child (no older than ten imo though its not directly stated, this is my judgement based on his appearance in the scene) everyone he knew was ritually murdered and their blood, bone, and flesh were all mixed into gold to create seven magical items with which the royalty and high priests of Egypt could continue to rule by summoning monsters via dark magic. 

He watched this happen! And for the rest of his life after this he could hear the grudges of the 99 souls of these sacrifices! AND his ka (holy spirit summonable via aforementioned dark magic) was formed from that desire for revenge held by both him and the ghosts of his slaughtered hometown.

and he runs this whole campaign of desperately clawing for vengeance and makes so many steps towards it but . well. turns out that not only were the millennium items created under the instruction of an evil god but that evil god was also manipulating both the thief king and one of the high priests in order to bring darkness to the world. so the pharaoh takes him out and seals the evil god away - along with the thief kings spirit. so he gets to spend thousands of years trapped in a necklace along with a part of an evil god which gradually corrupts him to the point of near-unrecognisability and twists his desire for revenge into a desire to free the evil god and let it destroy the world COOL ok yay

Kisara: Spent most of her life either starving in the desert or evading slavery depending on the version of canon you follow. Considered an omen of despair by the general public. Getting publicly stoned when she's introduced in the manga. She IS saved by a priest, but he then immediately kidnaps her planning to torture her ka out of her body. Which he does. Then when she dies her ka is trapped in a yugioh card to be summoned and killed on loop for eternity.

Propaganda!

Bakura: my man shows up at the pharaohs palace wearing all the pharaohs dead dads jewelery and carting the pharaohs dead dads sarcophagus around and says 'fuck you, that magic necklace is made of my dead family i can desecrate your dead family all i want' and when everyone tries to deny it he does his very best to kill everyone who has ever touched the various magical items made of his dead family. his soul is a giant white snake with wings which steadily becomes a big buff demon guy the more powered by rage he gets. hes on his vengeance grind. i think he would like fresh fruit and painting if they were things he could try but unfortunately circumstances and evil gods interrupt these options quite badly

Kisara: Kisara gets zero rep for being the saddest wettest most depressing character in yugioh. Together we can fix that.
