How you'd managed it, you never knew.
Keeping an item of clothing expertly hidden away from your boyfriend to save yourself an embarrassing conversation was nothing short of a miracle in your shared apartment. However, when Steve Rogers was busy playing Captain America elsewhere in the world, it came out. Especially on cold days such as this and when there were no clean clothes (who are we kidding ? Pyjamas) left to wear.
Today was laundry day and Steve was away on a mission. Which meant one thing; out came The One.
You waddled to the kitchen grasping the overflowing washing basket, dumping it unceremoniously into the middle of the kitchen to better pile the washing. Four distinct piles later (whites, colours, darks and delicates), the first load of washing went on. You stood and watched the machine grumble to life, slowly pushing the clothes in lazy circles. With a heavy sigh you padded back into the bedroom and began the tedious task of stripping the bedding.
A simple pleasure in life was clean sheets. Soft, clean cotton smelling like it had been dragged through a field of spring flowers made the effort of stripping and re-assembling the sheets worth it. Even if they wouldn't stay clean for very long. Regardless, your boyfriend would be appreciative (if he noticed before he collapsed into the bed as per usual after a long mission).
Bedding stripped, and feeling slightly sweaty, you headed back to the kitchen to make yourself a drink. You wondered about Steve and how his mission was going as you idly sipped at your glass. Long missions were always a pain since Steve couldn't talk at regular times, meaning you were often left wondering what kind of state he was in. Though, worrying yourself silly wasn't an option.
Shaking your head trying to rid yourself of thoughts of your blue-eyed, blond bombshell, you pulled out your phone and started up your cleaning playlist. You may as well continue to be productive after all! First, kitchen counters were wiped down with swaying hips. Then, the fridge was deep-cleaned with off-key singing. Then the trash taken out and so on, to the sound of your off-key voice and occasional dance move.
By the time you'd snuck back into the apartment (after dodging your nosy elderly neighbour near the stairs) the washing was done. Bending down to collect the damp laundry and belting out lyrics to a timeless tune of ABBA's, a familiar voice spoke. Startled you drop the clean clothes with a squeak, spinning to see who had entered.
"What are you wearing?" Steve chuckled from the kitchen doorway. He was dressed casually in T-shirt and jeans, holding his kit bag. He had come back from his mission early.
He had come back from the mission early.
" I –" You begin realising you had been caught red-handed and red-faced. " It's laundry day!" You say, two octaves higher than you wanted.
Steve bites back a grin as he looks at you stood in the middle of your kitchen in a Captain America onesie. It was the retro costume, bright cerulean blue, red and white. There was even a hood with the wings embroidered on. Not to mention the zipper that was his shield. It was too big for you but you looked cosy and cute.
"Okay..." Steve finally says slowly, raising an eyebrow as you cover your face. You're too cute. "Have you been hiding this from me, Sweetheart?"
You shuffle your feet. You wanted to combust on the spot. You wore an arguably cuter version of your boyfriend’s damn costume and he's found you in it.
"Yes. No... Maybe." You mumble from behind your hands. "I didn't know you'd be home so soon."
"Thought I'd surprise you." You can hear the smirk in Steve's voice and it only makes you feel more flustered. "Looks like you beat me to it."
"I can explain," You say quickly but as you move your hands away you can see that Steve is chuckling at you. Your heart hammers as embarrassment flushes your cheeks. You sigh, defeated, and give him a quivering, embarrassed smile.
Steve drops his bag and strides forward, wrapping his strong arms around you and kissing the top of your head.
"You look amazing as always." He teases.
"Shut up." The feigned huff of annoyance isn't lost on Steve and it only makes him smile wider.
"I mean it," He leans back to look down at you with his goofy grin. He gently brushes a wisp of hair out of your eyes. "This is a nice surprise to come home to.”
You wrap your arms around him, holding him tight, resting your head against his chest. "Har har, very funny." You look up at him and feel yourself grinning. "I'm glad you're home."
"Glad to be home... but aren't you hot in that?" Steve's brows furrow at you. The material is plush and thick, there's no way you wouldn't be boiling. Steve fiddles with the shield zipper between his fingers, wondering where did you buy this from.
"I uh..." You give him a sheepish smile. "Only have underwear on underneath."
Steve eyebrows shoot up and he gives you a playful grin. "Oh, this is definitely better than my suit."

Welp, my first official fiction. Not just a little writing thing. (Think it’s called a blurb) This is the real deal. This is part one of the tcm lore. Now, I will admit I did take some liberties when writing this. I played the petals game myself and studied it. Some of the things I reworked to make it make a little more sense. Also, I re-read this a few times but it’s still possible that there are misspellings and or grammar error. I hope you enjoy anyway!
⚠️ warning⚠️ violence, animal death, stalking, some sexual thoughts (I didn’t know how to label this one but you’ll see as you read) gore, weapons, and language.
Chapter one
Devil comes out when
the sun goes down
Texas heat was something else. Especially during the summer time. The sun was high and bright shining down on Johnny as he worked on the chicken coop. He’d been putting off fixing the chicken coop wire for a couple days now, along with some other tasks. One, he didn’t feel like traveling down all the way to Drayton house. Two, part of him held it off because Nancy kept bugging him about it. Three, they didn’t have enough money to replace the actual chicken coop wire or to get a new fence. The gas station didn’t bring in that much. Not even good ol’ Drayton’s cooking didn’t bring in money. Today seemed different though, Sissy was headed there to take care of a few things. Her own things. Johnny didn’t really know nor care about what she had going on so he just went with her for a ride. Johnny was now meticulously twisting each individual wire back together in the gaping hole that was left after an animal snuck in. Probably a fox or coyote just getting hungry. About an hour and a half later of sitting in the sun working he twisted the final piece in place. With that he shifted from sitting on one bent knee hunched over to sitting on his butt leaning some of his weight on his arms. Johnny let out a long breath hearing his joints pop with the shift in position. It felt good to his aching joints and back. Wiping off the sweat from his brow he took note of his handy work. Sure the fence was a little janky looking with some holes that were a little bigger than they were supposed to be but not big enough for anything to get in or out. Letting his head hang back he thought about the list of things he was supposed to do.
He had to now replace a few of the hanging blood bags that were around the property. Some of the bags had gone dry. He had to admit his family was somewhat smart, certainly not smarter than him but he had to give them credit. The blood bags were used for three things. One, attracting predators, if anyone noticed the wild life feeding on the blood bags and guts in the bucket then they would be slaughtered and used for more blood bags. Preventing them from going after the livestock which really only consisted of chickens. Two, same as the first option but instead of using the animals for blood bags they would cook em and eat em. Food was l…sparse sometimes. Desperate measures. Three, consumption. Blood wasn't better than beer or any other kind of alcohol but for Johnny sometimes it brought a high. The coppery taste of blood was something that made him shiver. Most of the blood bags were full of human pieces. There was a clear difference to Johnny. Animal blood wasn't the same as human blood. Human blood was more salty and stimulating.
Going around the property Johnny took note of all the bags that needed to be changed. Most of them were ready to be reused. Changing the bags was and is a lengthy task. The sawyers reuse the bags so they have to be taken down, washed, and filled back up. Johnny wanted to start in the house. A chance to get out of the blazing heat. Johnny went down on a knee and went to untie the rope but to his dismay it had to be cut. Nubbins must have double or triple knotted the thing. Feeling his back belt loop there was nothing. Where was his knife? Johnny quickly patted around checking both back pockets, both front pockets, all belt loops and found nothing. He frowned, feeling annoyed. “Ah, Damit.” Johnny signed under his breath. Johnny's curved skinning knife was t on him. He cursed some more and got off the ground. “Where did I put that dang knife?” He questioned aloud to himself. Thinking for a moment it dawned on him. This morning before he got working he was just throwing his knife at the large wood wire spool out in the field just outside the property.
He grumbled complaints cursing himself for being so stupid. Johnny began to make the long trek down the dirt road to collect his misplaced tool. Within a few minutes he made it to the gate, opening it and closing it, locking it behind him and malign his way to the wood wire spool. The trees and flowers were blooming really nicely around this time of year. Johnny didn’t often take time to notice these things but it’s hard not to when you're alone and just in the quiet. Something made Johnny stop on his tracks. A voice. The voice of a woman with an accent. “Perfect, that one’s going in the album for sure.” Quickly Johnny hid in the tree line, his eyes scanning the surroundings when his eye settled on a woman. From what he could see she was definitely a pretty little thing. She had midnight brown colored hair that waved just past her shoulders, a nice yellow and white shirt that went well with her warm skin tone, she looked as if she was kissed by the sun herself, her jeans were just like any other pair with a bit of flare at the bottom of them, completed with a flat pair of boots. Johnny couldn’t really see her tactical feature but her could only imagine
The sound of the camera snap snagged Johnny attention from the vile things his nasty mind started to come up with. The woman had taken a picture of the wood wire spool and the flowers around it. Her attention was moved from the camera to the knife. His knife. He crept somewhat closer hiding away in some bushes still keeping himself out of sight. She examined it curiously before she gripped the handle and gave it a good pull. The knife moved a little but didn’t give. She pulled one more time but just let it go. “Oh well, guess it’s just stuck there. Would have been a nice souvenir.” Johnny couldn’t help but laugh at her less attempt to steal his knife. The woman was alerted and looked around after hearing him laugh, her face..:.Jonny felt a weird tightness in his chest. Her face was…warm. Soft. Round eyes, thick lashes, her hair perfectly forming her round face, her nose sculpted by an angle. Johnny looked away, what was that. That was weird. One word crossed his mind. Absolutely not, Johnny doesn’t fall in love. Not at all. Not even a little bit. All he felt was lust. Lust for blood and corruption. Love was the last thing Johnny was capable of. After the woman had confirmed that the coast was clear she started walking down the dirt road back through the trees. Johnny's mind was running miles a minute. Without hesitation Johnny moved from his spot and ripped the knife out of the now splintered wood. Adrenaline and excitement coarse through his body, filling him as he went. There was no way he could let this woman go, it would drive him mad not to have her. He needed her. He had to be the one to break her. An idea kept forming in his mind. Johnny could toy with her, guide her to exactly where he wants her to be. He knew this place like the back of his hand.Wasting no time Johnny ran through the grass, the trees, hurdling over the fence by the barn to the no trespassing sign gate. The woman wasn’t there yet. Quickly he unlocked the gate swinging it wide open. He proceeded to hide again in the tree line. All he could do was hope she was dumb enough to ignore the sign.
A few short seconds later the woman came into view waving what Jonny assumed was the picture in the air as she walked. She came to a pause at the gate. For her it wasn’t open before. “Oh, it’s opened.” She paused, opening her satchel and slipped the album book out, slipping the picture in writing a quick note with it. Johnny was just waiting. He was patient. Sometimes. The woman looked around contemplating, thinking, and choosing. “Ugh, I really shouldn’t.” She stood there deciding. A burning sensation of anticipation in Johnny's chest. Maybe he wasn’t as patient as he wished he was at this moment. Just watching her was giving him a high feeling. This girl made things worse than others he’s scouted out. This girl, his blood felt like it was burning. This was…different. This woman made him feel more dangerous somehow. To some degree more playful. The woman spoke, snapping Johnny's attention away. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt to take a little look around. I’ll just be quick.” She stepped past the property line. “Oh, you're mine now sweetheart.” Johnny said to himself. Johnny was about to make a move when she suddenly was excited. “Oh! A rabbit!” After a picture she took, a rabbit came out of hiding. She tried to chase it down without scaring it to get a picture. It was cute, maybe even a little endearing. Laughable. “Come back. I won’t hurt you, I just wanted a picture.” The woman said after the woman evaded every advance and went through a small crawl space knocking the metal piece covering it down leaving the open spot to crawl through. “Aw, come back.” The woman whined, feeling dejected. To Johnny's surprise the woman got down and pushed her satchel through the open crawl space before getting on her hands and knees crawling through it herself giving Johnny a nice view. This girl just kept getting better and better.
After she disappeared into the sunflower field Johnny hopped up jumping the fence not really caring if she heard him or not. Part of him wanted her to hear. Give her that sinking feeling in her stomach that she’s being followed. Johnny made his way around the girl as he went through the sunflowers. He went right past her his heavy steps making her look around. Making his way to a spot he crouched down to watch her. Maybe now would be a good time to strike, he thought. She can’t go anywhere, he knows the land better than she, plus she doesn’t even know that he even here hiding in the- *snap*. A bright light flashed in Johnny's eyes blinding him for a moment. After blinking away the flash his vision cleared to see her sitting on her knees shaking out the photo she just took. She was so close. He could practically reach out and touch her. He could snatch her up so fast and no one would know. She had no idea how close he was. “She smiled “definitely one for the books.” She smiled putting the photo into her scrapbook photo album and put it I. Her satchel. She began to walk the path through the sunflowers again. The sun had set low by now. Johnny followed her around. She jumped and looked around at the occasional crows being stirred or Johnny's footsteps but he has been in the practice of hunting for a long time. He wasn’t getting caught until he wanted to be. This felt like an intimate experience, she didn’t even know if but they were bonding already. In a weird way Johnny was enjoying keeping himself on edge. Being so close to attack but choosing not to to prolong the little game made him feel alive, made even desperate but in an oddly good way. The woman suddenly gasped as the rabbit went by going through the path into another stalk of sunflowers. She chases after it, staying on the path in the maze of sunflowers.
Inevitably the rabbit showed up again. “I’m gonna get you bunny.” She said with excitement in her voice. Johnny got an idea, an awful idea to toy with her. A way to possibly invoke a reaction out of her. If he was lucky maybe she’d cry. She tried to follow the rabbit but got lost in the different paths that lead throughout the maze. While she was distracted , Johnny moved through the itchy stalks of sunflowers. There it was, the gray fuzzy little fluff ball sitting there. With practiced ease he snatched it up by the ears as it squeaked and struggled. “You’ll be a nice lil’ gift won’t ya.” Johnny cooed to the Jack rabbit. “I’m sure she’ll just love you.” Stifling a cackle he mutilated the poor creature opening it up and tearing out the insides and tossed it on the dirt path that she'd pass through to get out of the maze. Sure enough she came, her eyes settled on it with a gasp and look of disappointment. “Oh, you poor thing, what animal did this to you?” She obviously wasn’t too sure what to do so she took a sunflower and placed it by it. “Well, at least you're in a better place now you poor creature.” Johnny's heart leapt in his chest. She was so. Sweet. So sweet he could practically taste it. He almost felt bad for what he was planning for her. Almost.
She finally made it out of the sunflower field and into the open land. She wasn’t too far from the house now. She didn’t even know that she was playing right into his hands. She explored the field looking around before taking a picture of some pink primroses that had grown onto a rake that had been left for a while. Standing up she looked out across the land, the setting sun reflecting in her hazel eyes and making her hair shine. She basked in the setting sun enjoying the moment of beauty before her unknowingly last sun set she’d see for a long time. Another Jack Rabbit ran by her. “Oh! Another one!” She followed it as the sun began to sink lower, almost completely gone now. She pulled out a flashlight and followed it. “Ugh, I wish he would stay still.” She complained as the rabbit began to move. The rabbit stopped a few feet from the house gate. “Oh, stay still.” The woman crouched down steadily to not scare it off. The rabbit stood there as if it was allowing her to take a picture. Now is the time. Johnny snook up on her as she snapped a picture snatching the camera from her grip waving it in his hand. “Hey there!” He exclaimed with wide eyes with a crazed look in them. His heart hammering in his chest for the main event. “What the fuck!” She exclaimed horrified by the unexpected visit. Her panicked voice was music to his ears. “Get away from me!” She cried as she ran through the gate straight to the gate. Johnny followed behind enjoying it. She was surprisingly faster than he thought she’d be. Her breath was heavy from panic as she cursed and she looked behind her right at him chasing her down. A small group of jackrabbits started to speed away as if they sensed the danger as well. “Oh shit!” She speeds up seeing the house crying out. “Hello! Is anyone home?! Can someone help me?! Help! Help!” Johnny slowed down a little to watch it all unfold. The woman banged on the door. “Please! Is anyone home!” She pleaded desperately. A beat passed when sissy opened the door. “Oh, hi there.” Sis gave a sweet smile as she waited for the panicked crying woman to say something. “Help me! Someone is after me!” She wailed looking behind her to try and see if I had caught back up. “You poor thing, I can help you, you know.” Sissy explained. As she looked behind her bubba showed up starting up his chainsaw making Johnny panic. He didn’t want her dead. As the woman looked back bubba was there revving his chainsaw. She screamed and went to run without realizing Johnny was right there. She tripped trying to rush down the stairs landing right in front of him. Looking up Johnny swung his blade at her, cutting her right across the bridge of the nose and cheek. “We gotcha” he said as She yelped in pain and Johnny snagged her by her hair pulling her up the steps painfully so laughing.
Johnny scolded sissy. “Sissy, what the hell?!” She argued back. “I’ve got this under control. We can have her leaving!” Bubba followed, revving his chainsaw, lifting it ready to swing as the woman cried and screamed, writhing and struggling to escape. Johnny quickly yanked the girl up to her feet wrapping his arms around her neck keeping her in a tight hold. “Get outta here big boy. I ain’t needing you.” Johnny scolded him. He felt somewhat bad because he didn’t know but it was the heat of the moment. “What are you thinkin’ Johnny?!” Sissy's questions heightened. “Sissy, if it ain't askin’ too much, shut the hell up. I ain’t going to be questioned by you. Just-“ Johnny howled in pain as the woman managed to reach her mouth down and bite his arm. Sissy laughed at the sight. Johnny already felt overwhelmed but this pushed him over. Tackling the woman to the ground and so led her right in the face. She cried out as pain radiated through her face and tried to fight back. That didn’t stop him though, with three more blows and two extra ones just in case, she was out cold. Her stood up, his breath raged, he pushed the hair that had fallen to his face back. Looking at his arm the woman had bit him hard enough to break the skin. “That hurt like a bitch.” He looked at Sissy with bubba behind her. Sissy had a look on her face. A look he’d seen before. Sure she was tough and would bad mouth him but sometimes he really did think he scared his family. Sighing he eyed them down. “Keep this quiet. Don’t run your mouth to Drayton, don’t run your mouth to nubbins, and you’d better not tell Nancy. If you do, it will be the last thing you do.” He knew bubba couldn’t really tell anyone so he was talking to sissy more than him. She looked away from his cold gaze. “Fine, but when this backfires on you I ain’t helpin’ you.” Johnny smirked “as if I need your help.”
Johnny felt excitement more than anything, he got his new toy and boy did he plan on doing some nasty things to this beautiful, naive, woman. Heaving up her unconscious body he carried her to his truck and snuck her into his shack for a little before taking her down to his cold room.

Mario RPG Post Game Bosses Quick and Dirty Guide
Okay, so I can't promise the tactics I'm going to suggest here are the best effective tactics in the game for defeating each of the bosses in the post game. But I will say they let me roll through all of them pretty fast. Also bosses are pretty much in the order I encountered them. If at any point you're unsure if what boss you should be fighting you can go talk to Frog Sage at tadpole pond to be hinted at where to go.
Before Any Fights
Make sure you've fought and defeated Jinx three times and beaten Culex in Montro town and got the Jinx Belt and Quartz Charm accessories.
Level up as much as possible. You can buy the EXP Booster from the frog coin merchant in Seaside Town which doubles the XP of the person who has it equipped even if they're not in battle. The Lucky Egg bought from the Treasure Hunter in the Moeville Item Shop can be used to double your XP earned a lot for the party if you're good at the shuffle game.
Buy the Earlier Times item from the Frog Coin Merchant in Seaside Time. When RNG just goes bad or you mess up this will let you restart the fight right away rather than having to slowly die and resume from the last save point.
Make sure you have a Feather. If you didn't get won from beating Dodo in the statue mini game you can buy one, or if you want a second buy a second one from the Treasure Hunter in the Moeville Item Shop.
Make sure yo have the Lazy Shell (Weapon and armor) and Safety Ring.
Get as many Kercolas, Red Essences and Rock Candies that you can.
Practice timed hits and perfect blocks because both are required for multiple boss fights and will be the difference between life and death.
Consider getting the Star Egg from Grate Guy's Casino if you can stand the torture that is winning 100 Games of Look the Other Way. It deals a flat 100 damage to all enemies so isn't the best damage but it's reliable and reusable so comes in handy when you need something to damage everyone.
Now to the bosses.
Belome
Fought in Belome temple. Don't be an idiot like me and immediately run through all of Kero Sewer and then have to do Midas River because he's not there. Frog Sage told me he was up to his old tricks. So old tricks made me think the sewers. It was the temple. Travel to Monstro Town and enter the temple from there to get to him instantly.
Belome is frustrating but easy. But you can get rid of most of the frustrating part. Take any party members you want but I recommend including Peach for healing like I will for every fight. You don't need any special preparations to beat him but immunizing your entire party to sleep will save you a lot of grief. I did not, I only had Peach immune to sleep. She had the Safety Ring. Belome spams Sleep attacks so Mario and Geno went to sleep A LOT.
Belome's main gimmick this time is that he can't be injured by any attack as long as he has a clone out. He'll basically bounce back and forth between creating a clone, attacking and attempting to put the party to sleep. If you're prepared (unlike me) and immune to sleep 90% of this fight is solved. Just need two characters who hit hard to rip through the clone as soon as it comes out and beat down Belome. He doesn't really have anything dangerous and aside from not taking damage and so much sleep spam is really not that different from previous fights.
Jinx
Since I was already in Monstro Town decided to go visit Jinx yet since based on the wishes I read on the Pink Stars (You'll see them when you start the post game and follow the story leading to the boss rematches) that he was one of them.
Preparation
Jinx is going to spam mortal blows on your party. Accessories like the Safety Ring and the Quartz Charm are absolutely mandatory unless you have flawless mastery of timed hits to the point you never miss, even so good to have them for safety on the occasion you mess up and they're both really good accessories. Party members, someone, anyone that you're really good with their timed hits and Peach for healing.
Jinx is a bit different in that you're not looking to deplete his HP. All you have to do is use a Team Attack and you instantly win. But before you try to be a smarty pants and go in with a 100% gauge prepped he will set your gauge to 0 when the fight starts. It doesn't matter if the team attack actually deals damage, Jinx wants to duel you to see how to get in synergy with your partners to do a team attack and so you will instantly win as soon as you use any attack. Recommend Lazy Shell and Safety Pin go specifically on Peach.
Jinx hits fast and hard as usual. Anytime you miss a timed hit rather it be attacking or healing Jinx will counter with an instant death attack. This is why you want protection from Mortal Blows. Basically, this entire fight is just a practice of your timed hits and defenses. His attacks can deal massive damage and sometimes one shot characters but all of them can be negated to 0 damage with a properly timed block. There's really no trick to it beyond that. Just used timed hits and blocks to build up your gauge and fire it of as soon as its full. Make sure all party members are up and able to perform the attack. Summoning Toad is not what he needs, you need all three party members. Peach with the Lazy Shell and Safety pin will survive anything he throws at her, so just use her to heal up and revive anyone that goes down while you build up that gauge. Don't lose your cool and keep that timing up and victory will be yours.
Punchinello
Preparation: Not a whole lot you can prepare to do on this fight. Like Jinx this fight is going to revolve entirely around getting your Timed Hits right. And you'll mostly be dealing with attacks that can kill you instantly if you fail to block. But they're not guaranteed 9999 damage like some later bosses they're just really strong attacks, might be survivable with something like Lazy Shell + Ghost Medal. Speed is probably the most important factor here though so the Lazy Shell armor can be a liability. Since Speed is important Geno is naturally one of the best fits for the party. And again I make Peach the third for reviving and healing others.
The Fight Itself
So like I said this game revolves around timed hits. You can't damage Punchinello directly. You can only attack the bombs he throws out. If you do a perfectly timed hit, the bomb will change the direction its facing and face him. Then when the bomb goes off it will explode on Punchinello and damage him instead of you. Be careful to watch the bombs before you attack them some of them will already be pointing at him leave those untouched. This is why speed is important. You only have four party members and he'll drop four bombs. And of course only perfectly timed time attacks will turn them around so if you screw it well hope you can go again before that bomb goes off. The bombs can be killed if enough damage is done but this is kind of a last resort sort of thing and you're more likely to kill one on accident from it taking damage when you damage all enemies with your perfect hits. Mastering the timing for a perfect block against the bombs is mandatory to survival. If you have a hard time feel free to use Earlier Times if you have it to restart the fight until you get it down. Basically hit A right before the bomb hits you. But if a bomb hits you and takes you down you either have to swap that party member out or waste a turn reviving them and lose up to two attacks possibly resulting in more bombs going off on you. Because your timing has to be perfect you they won't spin around loses happen sometimes. Just, best of luck with the perfect blocks and perfect timed hits.
Boster
Preparation
I hate this fight, with all of my hate. This is the first fight to kill me in the entire game. You must bring Geno for this fight, and equip him with a Feather to boost his speed. This fight is just... not a good fight, and is absolutely terrible design in an otherwise wonderful game because there is a very specific solution to the fight and it's just, screw you if you don't know it. Super fast Geno is that solution. Bring Peach for healing, and give Mario the Quartz Charm for damage.
The Fight
So at the start of every round Booster will start building his train. If it gets to his turn he will finish building the train and crash it into your party for 9999 damage. Coincidentally, every turn one of his Sniffets will cast Morale Boost that increases his speed every single turn. See why I hate this fight? The trick is Booster must be attacked before his turn each round to interrupt his building. Which is why you need Geno because the fight will quickly get to the point where no one can out speed him but a speed boosted Geno. Make sure he gets interrupted each round. Then I murdered the Sniffets next, in hind sight it might have been easier to go straight for Booster. Either way just deal as much damage as fast as you can. Rock Candies are useful to deal significant damage to everyone, Geno Flash, Psych Bomb (but only if Peach doesn't have the lazy shell) and of course if you're good at it Super Jump is always amazing. If you're not, kick a lazy shell into them. Just kill the Sniffets or Booster as fast as possible and be aware you might have to restart. If your backline party tags in I recommend immediately restarting the battle with an Earlier Times (You can buy it with Frog Coins in Seaside Town) because Mallow and Bowser will not be fast enough to really do anything unless Booster is low on health and they can finish him off right there. I don't know his HP but you can always have Mallow use Thought Peak once to see his HP if you go for killing Booster first to track the damage on him and know how close you are to killing him. Also, can charge a team attack before coming to the fight and swap Peach out for a turn to Mallow or Bowser to do a damage dealing team attack. I do not reccomend swapping out Geno because you want him there to interrupt Booster from building when the next attack starts. Roselina freaking Luma this fight is easily the hardest in the game for me and just so obnoxious. Best of luck.
Now then whose next... I honestly forget so I had to go google the post game fights. And it turns out it's the freaking cake again in Marrymore. Make your Portal references now.
Bundt Cake
Preparations: Not a ton of prep work here, Quartz Charm and Black Belt are recommended. Peach will put this fight into easy mode so should be included for something other than her healing. Other than her big your favorite damage dealer. Probably put Safety Ring on Peach as usual. She won't be focusing on damage.
The Fight
So the goal is to put out the candles just like last time. The catch this time, the chefs are there and will keep lighting the candles and if they light all the candles bad things happen. Which I never found out what would happen because I never let them get that far. So, you need Peach or as many sleep bombs as you can carry. Peach is better, because you're going to cast Sleepy Time to put both chefs to sleep. I believe if you spin the stick enough to max it out it's 100% chance of putting both of them to sleep but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is I never saw it fail when maxed out in the fight. I also never failed to max it out.
After you put the chefs to sleep, it's just a matter of dealing damage to the cake and healing up as needed. Chefs will wake up every now and then and need to be put back to sleep but as long as you keep them under control this fight is easier than the original fight with the cake. No wonder I forgot this one. I don't know when I actually did it. Just make sure to play it safe and keep yourself healed up and those chefs asleep and you'll be good.
Johnny Jonathan Jones
Preparation
This is going to be a one on one fight between Mario and Jones. Prepare accordingly and equip Mario with your best accessory. Quartz Charm is my preference. Can also do Lazy Shell Armor and Safety Ring if you want to try to turtle your way through the fight. Just a quick warning, there's no way to heal in the fight at all. You can't use items, and only Mario can fight. I guess Jones is a Melee player. Anyway before the fight you'll be asked to choose which party members you want cheering you on. You won't get anyone to fight but you will get buffs from the party. Best way to beat Jones is to take him down as fast as possible so I took Geno and Bowser for damage up and I guess defense up but mostly damage go up.
The Fight
This fight was the second one to kill me. It can be rough. It's going to test your ability to do perfect blocks. Jones will attack with both spells and physical attacks so you need to be ready to block them... And that's really all there is to this fight. Be able to block his attacks and strike back till he's dead. He doesn't have a lot of HP thankfully since the fight is 1 v 1. If you're a master of Super Jump you can probably kill him in one turn. I don't know I'm not good at Super Jump. Though I finally found out it was because unlike what Toad told me it's not hit the button right before the attack lands but actually when it lands. So with that new knowledge I will have to go back and try super jumping things again and get to 100. Right back to Johnny. So, again it might take you a few tries but you just keep practicing his fight until you can block all his attacks with the correct timing and then take him out. There's not really any shortcut or trick to this fight (Besides Super Jump) just gotta learn the timing.
Culex
Preparation: Here's the one we've all been waiting for. Let's get down to it. Culex is the main course and all the other bosses were just an appetizer before him. So first off, Lazy Shell and Safety Ring on Peach. Second, Geno with Quartz Charm and Mario with Black Belt or Safety Badge. Might want to also consider Zoom Shoes or Feather on Geno and give the Quartz Charm to Mario instead depending on how you want to play it. Finally, go into the fight with your Team Gauge already charged to 100%. We're going to be using Mario, Geno and Peach's Team Attack A LOT this fight. Savs-Us-All blocks the next attack each party member takes and will work on anything.
The Fight
Culex is as expected a beast. And the third and final character I have met my end by. Oh wait, no I didn't because every time I was in danger of dying I used Earlier Times. HA! Take that Culex! You technically never sent me to the game over screen, and I technically beat you on my first try. Anyway, his newest jerk move is to use an HP that deals your max HP -1 in damage. This is important. His new spell Meteor is not HP to 1, it is your max HP -1. If you have even a single point of damage on you the spell will kill you. Now, after he opens the fight with that he'll use it every five turns and give you a counter, and responding to that is going to be a large part of our strategy for how to beat him. Finally, make sure you are maxed out in your inventory on Red Essences, Rock Candies, Kercolas, and Pick-Me-Ups.
First off, surviving the first round is the most important and hardest part of the fight. Once you make it past the first round the fight becomes a lot easier. The largest problem is that depending on your set up there is a high chance that Culex will open the fight dropping your party's HP to 1 and then the Wind Crystal will go off and use an AoE killing your entire party. It's that kind of fight. So, you have two choices here, can keep using the Earlier Times item to restart the battle till you have at least two characters alive or can give Geno the Feather pre-fight so he can move faster and have him use a Kercola. Regardless of which method you use Geno will go first and use a Kercola to get the two or if if you're really lucky your entire party up to max health. Peach on her turn if anyone is dead use Come Back unless the living characters are in need of healing because they will get KOed if you don't keep yourself healed up. Basically priority is as follows
Negate or Survive Culex's Meteor Attack > Heal HP > Revive Down Allies > Deal Damage.
Now, on negating Culex's attack. There are a couple ways to do it. Peach should be going last each round while Culex goes first meaning she'll always go off before him. When the first Cooldown hits 1, have Peach use the Team Attack Save-Us-All on her turn and you'll just straight up negate Meteor when Culex uses it on 0. Other options is once you have someone guaranteed to go after Culex is to use Kercolas, but remember you only have three. Another is to throw a Red Essence on Peach and then have her heal everyone and the two others use Max Mushrooms as needed. Try to save Pick Me Ups for reviving Peach if she dies and use Comeback to revive your other allies, but if you need to get everyone up fast use it. Anytime you have your team gauge fully charged use Save-Us-All with Peach right before Culex casts Meteor. Obviously it won't be charged every turn and that's why you'll need to make do with Kercolas and Red Essences. Save the Red Essences for Peach you don't have enough of them to use on your entire party and last till the end of the fight.
Now... As for actually defeating the enemies. I recommend starting with the Wind Crystal it's weak to special attacks, all special attacks so Geno Flash or even just Geno Beam will make quick work of it. If you're good at Super Jump you can probably take out the Wind Crystal right away.
From there I took out the Water Crystal but I think it may have been a better choice to go after the Earth Crystal. One of them can summon Bowyer's button locks and seal one of your commands. I think it's the Earth Crystal that does it but not 100% sure. Fire Crystal felt like the least threatening of them so saved it for last.
While this is going on always be aware of when Meteor is coming and prepare accordingly. Remember that if Meteor goes off any character with damage on them will die unless Save-Us-All is active. Mario and Geno should focus on damage and killing as much as possible. In the rare event the party doesn't need healing on Peach's turn she should use a Rock Candy to damage everyone, or if you run out of those the Star Egg. You can also use the Fire and Ice bombs just be aware the naturally a the fire crystal resists fire and the water crystal resists water.
Once all the Crystals are down the fight becomes much easier to deal with. Culex will replace Meteor with Final Claw, an attack that deals 9999 damage, but it only targets one person, and it can be blocked with a perfect block. Timing is a bit tricky but it can be done. But either way losing one person is a lot better than the entire team and you have a countdown till he uses it just like Meteor so whenever Team Attack is charged can just use Save-Us-All and bam no Final Claw. So like the previous fight when Team Attack is charged always pop it with Peach when Culex's counter is on 1 to just negate his ultimate instant kill attack. At this point it's just a matter of keeping yourself healed and beating Culex down. Keep persisting and use that Team Attack anytime its charged to negate Final Claw and victory is finally yours.
And with that, you get a completely useless key item per Final Fantasy Superboss tradition that just says you beat the hardest boss. Huzzah! Hope that helps. Not a perfect guide by any means but this is what worked for me.

It was comical but sad at the same time. I couldn’t slay a dragon no bigger than my thumb. The copper coin it was dragging across the dirt was nearly as big as it was. It didn’t even have a lair. No lair and a hoard of a single coin. I couldn’t tell this slaying story without getting laughed out of the pub!
Instead I hatched an idea. I pulled out my money pouch and put it on the ground, opening facing the tiny dragon so the little lizard could see inside. I saw the interest peak in its eyes and it drug it’s small coin inside the little pouch.
And that’s how I acquired a dragon as a pet twelve months ago. And it’s gone interestingly since then.
The first time a thief reached into my pouch and pulled his hand out with a missing finger sent me howling with laughter. I wouldn’t have noticed him had he not yelled in pain, and I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to tell the castle guard which way he went.
I hadn’t thought about it before then, but it seemed my tiny friend knew my hand. Or perhaps recognized the silver ring on my finger. It made no difference, my hand was safe reaching inside to take from the pouch. I assumed it was because my hand was the hand that increased the dragon’s hoard as well.
Now I had heard of dragon’s greed and how it could destroy a man’s mind. But I had never heard of dragon’s luck. It seemed each quest I undertook, each bounty I pursued, the monetary gain was at least double what I had normally made. It got to the point where my pouch was getting too heavy. My lizard friend was nearly squished.
Enter dragon’s luck again. In my travels, I met a a man named Merlin. After certain, how should I call it… “assistances” were made, we became quite good friends. Good enough to confide in him about my friend. Merlin, being the learned man he is, taught me more about dragons than I previously knew. Key pieces of information such as a dragon will grow in comparison to the wealth of its hoard. And they stay that size. For instance, if a rare gem were retrieved from a thief and added to a certain money pouch, and then returned to its owner later, said dragon would grow to the size of the wealth of that gem.
Something you should know about Merlin, he’s a rather handy man to know. He’s learned in more than dragon knowledge. He also knows a thing or two about enchantments. Like making the interior of a certain pouch larger than what it appears to be.
My hands were still raised in the air as I finished my story. I looked around at the crossbows aimed at my chest. This merry band of men, as they called themselves, peaking out from trees and bushes,
“That’s a good story,” a man wrapped in a cloak said. “But we’ll still be having that money pouch”
I reached down slowly as I heard the creak of their crossbows twitch.
“I feel it’s necessary for you to understand, as many men can’t comprehend,” I responded as I untied the money pouch from my belt.
I speak softly as I drop the pouch to the ground.
“Their minds can’t process what they see in the short amount of time they have left.”
The pouch hits the dirt and pops open, spilling coins onto the ground. Rivers of coins as if a whole mountain of them had toppled over. Jewels and gems were among the pile. Swords, shields, suits of armor. It were as if the kings treasury had been flipped on its side.
And then from the pouch stretched a great scaly foot, claws reflecting the sunlight. A leg followed of incredible size. Impossible size. Like a tree this leg came forth and then a snout. The nostrils, hot breath too, and the bridge of a nose. Then eyes, a deep and dark orange flecked with black and gold. It’s blue and green scales shimmered in the light, catching it like a pond. Great horns curled around its crown wreathed in rings of silver bands.
The great beast unfurled it’s wings and shaded the sun. It could see above the trees if it’s neck weren’t curled down bringing it’s head to face me. I reached up with my left hand, finger adorned by my single silver ring, and scratched under her chin in that spot I knew she liked. She watched me point across the glade at the men now frozen in place by their fear.
“Thieves,” I spoke to her.
To this day, I still don’t know if telling the story helps them process what they see in the very short time they have left.
You wished to find a dragon to slay for its treasure. Now you’re not sure how to feel seeing a thumb-sized dragon try to drag its single shiny copper coin with it as it runs away from you.

🎼 meet nick duval, auditioning with vienna by billy joel.
🎵 playlist.
wait, is that NICK DUVAL? they kinda look a lot like FELIX MALLARD, don’t they? i heard the TWENTY year old is known as the THE PRODIGY around mckinley. it seems like they auditioned to be in THE WARBLERS which is so lame? people at campus have said they’re BRIGHT, but don’t be fooled since they’re also SARCASTIC. rumor has it, you can find them at ORCHESTRA & ENVIRONMENT CLUB when they aren’t belting show tunes. their entire vibe revolves around PERFECT SOUNDTRACK MOMENTS, THE QUICK QUIPS OF THE SIDEKICK CHARACTER IN A COMING OF AGE MOVIE, AND THE FEAR THAT YOU PEAKED TOO SOON but no one pays attention to that here in ohio.

HEADCANONS
nick is a child prodigy. of course he's always been gifted academically, but his real talents lie in the arts. he's able to pick up almost any instrument with ease and by the time he was ten he'd already composed some award-winning pieces. he's continued to write since then, but as an adult he's found that he's not considered nearly as impressive anymore. he's experiencing a little bit of gifted kid burnout and it's made him a tiny bit bitter.
nick's dream is to someday create the scores for films. it's why one of his majors at dalton is music composition.
this specific major comes in handy with the warblers, as nick is the one to arrange their songs. he's never managed to have a say in what the group performs (he has tried for captain before and been rejected), but he does appreciate feeling useful.
in addition to majoring in music composition, nick is also majoring in business. he's the first in his family to go to college, and he's doing it on scholarship. his parents have always been supportive of his dreams, but he fears letting them down, and business is typically a stable career.
nick is the bass player for jeff's band, sterling silver. he never really saw himself as a band guy, but jeff is his best friend. you rarely nick without him. when jeff was assembling the band, it wasn't really a question of if nick would join, but instead of which instrument he'd play.

AEW: Fight Forever Review Cons: - Only one United Kingdom location which is in east London. - No voice work in the Road to Elite mode which makes it look weak when in cutscenes, set pieces, and press conferences. - Some of the voice work has no life in the performance. - Not always clear when someone is injured. - As a beard guy, I find the lack of any decent beard types annoying. - Knowing when to pin is its own unknown art. - Few dubious-looking faces capture. - The occasional glitch especially with weapons. - All the side activities are good but feel so flat with no proper music or voice work. Powerful Ortur Laser Master 3 Detailed Review
The Ortur Laser Master 3 laser cutter and engraver features a 10W diode laser that can engrave at speeds up to 20,000mm/min and cut wood up to 19mm thick. It has built-in WiFi and a powerful smartphone app to create and wirelessly send custom projects directly to the engraver.
I'll go over all of its features and thoroughly test Orturs' claims to see if this is the right laser engraver for you. If you haven't learned about this technology, please take a look at my previous article introducing this technology to help you quickly understand.
My box arrived a bit worn out but everything inside was well protected. Basic assembly is required, but should take no more than 30 minutes to assemble. I don't recommend using the supplied user manual - the illustrations are too small - go to the Ortur website and find a link to a YouTube video of the assembly, or check out the manual online so you can at least zoom in to take a closer look at the more tedious steps.
You can see everything that comes in the box, which includes some safety specs and a handy little storage box with tools and parts. There are also some wood, acrylic and metal samples to test the engraver.
The easiest way is to start assembly from the top down. Thread the Y-axis motor cable through the left Y-axis, then connect the left and right Y-axis with one bolt. The frame of the router is not a standard aluminum extrusion - Ortur makes custom parts that are well machined and lock precisely into place, ensuring the frame is square.
Once the Y axis is in place, you can slide over the already assembled X axis. Then mount the straps on both sides, which you need to blindly hook onto the pulleys inside the back assembly. It's a bit of a hassle, but if you're really stuck, you can remove the end cap so you can see what you're doing.
Then you need to attach the idler. Fit them loosely and loop the straps around them. Set its position with the included set screw to set the belt tension. There is a marker showing their best position. You can then screw the pulleys into place. If the strap is too loose or too tight, you can loosen these bolts and adjust the set screws.
You can then use the single bolt again on both sides to attach the front assembly. Connect the motherboard connector on the connector and connect the Y-axis cable that was pulled earlier. This was the most troublesome bit for me - it was very difficult to plug in the little connector.
You can then connect the other end of the connector to the X-axis motor and use the provided zip ties to loosely hold this rather bulky cable in place. Then connect the laser's cable to the socket marked "L" and secure loosely in place with a zip tie.
The laser module is already equipped with an air-assisted nozzle and a laser shield. It slides onto the X-axis using a dovetail mechanism and can be locked into its vertical position with a thumbscrew.
Plug the laser cable into the laser module using the keyed 5-pin connector. It's all very neat, making the laser module very easy to remove to clean the lens, remove the air assist nozzle, or replace another laser module in the future.
You can then install two stop bolts to the front of the engraver to prevent the laser head from hitting the front assembly. Slide the X axis onto these stop bolts, then slide the belts on both sides into the toothed belt grooves so everything is square. Screw on the WiFi antenna to complete the assembly.
This is the smartest engraver I've ever seen, and it's well made and solid.
My only two real criticisms are the rotary scroll wheel switch, which, while useful, is rather exposed and looks a bit cheap. What's more, the bulky wiring machine lacks any cable management.
It's easy to get caught in things, so I 3D printed a small zip tie base and taped it to the side of the router with double sided tape, which helps keep things organized.
It's a very low-profile machine, for reasons I'll get to later, but you'll still need quite a bit of room. Above you can see the required working space for the machine. The dimensions listed on the Ortur website seem to be a bit off. But if you want to move it around, it's pretty light at 4.3kg.
The top of the front assembly has a power button that requires a long press to turn on and off, and a multi-color LED ring that glows to indicate its status. Then there is a barrel lock with key provided and emergency stop button. Keyed locks are a welcome feature if you have young children around or want to use them at a school or makerspace. You will need to make sure the lock is in the open position and reset the position by turning the emergency stop button clockwise to open the machine.
Behind the front assembly is a microSD card slot in a rather awkward position, with a reset and boot switch next to it.
On the left side of the front assembly are the USB port for connecting to a computer, the DC jack for connecting an AC adapter, and the WiFi antenna.
The Y-axis switch on the back needs to be in the Y-motor position, unless you're using the rotary wheel that connects to the port below the switch.
The OLM3 features a 10W laser module combined with two 5.5W laser diodes. It has a 0.05 x 0.1mm focal spot and an 8mm depth of field, providing a good combination of engraving and cutting performance. Its 400mm x 400mm capacity is average for an open diode laser machine of this type, but smaller than the TwoTrees TS2 I saw last month.
Its biggest selling point is speed. Ortur cites an engraving speed of 20,000 mm/min, twice the engraving speed of a typical 10W laser. It achieves this through its low profile design and relatively compact and light laser module. But this low-profile design does mean that you'll need to lift the router to machine thicker items, especially if you're using a honeycomb cutting table. Ortur does sell foldable feet to increase its height, but I haven't received any to try.
Before I go on to discuss testing, if you're new to all this, be sure to see my previous article covering laser safety. The article also covers the basics of laser engraving and cutting, and the basics of using software like Lightburn which I will be using with OLM3. At least from a safety standpoint, you must wear the included laser safety glasses.
The Ortur does have some extra security features along with the key lock and panic button I mentioned earlier. It has tilt protection, which turns off the laser if the machine falls off the table, and it has exposure duration detection in case the motor stops moving for any reason. If the laser is left on at the same location, it may cause a fire.
Before you can turn on the laser engraver, you will need to install a microSD card - the engraver will not work without it. Be careful not to miss the microSD slot and slide it into the front assembly frame. I then connected the Ortur to my computer with the provided USB cable. You will be able to view the contents of the microSD card through this USB connection.
Unusually, this is a USB-A to USB-A cable, rather than a typical printer cable that has a square USB-B connector on the other end. In Lightburn you can also use the free LaserGRBL, add the engraver manually and select the GRBL with USB connection and set the size to 400mm x 400mm. The home position is on the front left, and you can disable auto-homing, as it will do it anyway. The laser has a focal length of 50mm and the laser module has a convenient spread out arm to set the correct height above the workpiece.
I found the extension arm to be a little flimsy, and it didn't lock into place. The adjustment changes slightly as you tighten the thumbscrew, so it takes some practice to get this right. I prefer the motorized automatic height adjustment feature on the Two Trees TS2, which also lets you automatically lower the Z height when making multiple cuts.
I wanted to test the high-speed claim first, so I engraved a grayscale photo of this cork coaster. I'm using 20,000mm/min, 0.1mm line spacing, 100% power, it's too dark as you can see. In Lightburn you can adjust the speed and power during printing, I ended up with 50% power for the last third of the engraving and it looks about the same. Printing takes approximately 8 minutes.
Ortur provides helpful guidelines for engraving and cutting various materials on the included microSD card. This is a good starting point, but I recommend using the material testing functionality in Lightburn to fine-tune your setup for best results.
For Basswood plywood, Ortur recommends 15,000 mm/min at 100% power. Using the Lightburn material test, I engraved this test image, which I would say is about correct, but I darkened it a bit and engraved the same image again at 12,500 mm/s.
I also tried engraving these coated aluminum business cards and after a little rubbing with isopropyl alcohol it worked really well. I again used Ortur's recommended settings: 3000 mm/min at 25% power. Although these coatings do give off some nasty smoke, even when extracted.
The 10W laser is even powerful enough to engrave stainless steel. You don't need to apply any coatings, and the little name tag performed really well at Ortur's recommended 2000mm/min and 100% power - even though my text did get a bit off center.
I cut and engraved a small tag out of leather less than 2mm thick and it came out perfectly - even the small holes were precise and rounded, which is a challenge for these belt driven machines.
When cutting, you can use the built-in air-assisted nozzle, but you'll need to provide your own pump. I tried it with a cheap pump from Fox Alien, but it was actually worse than no pump at all, as you can see below.
With the fan turned on along with the laser, the laser module itself seems to generate enough air for lighter cuts.
For deeper cuts, I used the main compressor with its digital regulator set to 15 PSI, which did give sharper results.
Ortur does offer some additional fittings to work with the air supply hose, but I just used a 3D printed adapter to connect it directly to my compressor hose. The hose fits directly into the laser module. It's a bit of a hassle, but you need to push down on this black collar to retract the little barb that grabs the hose to insert and release the hose. I attached it loosely to the router to keep it tidy and keep it from getting tangled.
The air nozzle can be easily removed when engraving. Just squeeze the laser shield lightly and unscrew the nozzle. This is a very clever design.
Like all of these diode laser makers, Ortur has some bold claims to make when it comes to cutting. According to their website, this 10W module has a maximum cutting depth of 30mm. Although looking more closely at their materials chart, this is using black acrylic, 17 passes at 100mm/min and 100% power, so you don't want to do this too often, even if possible.
But the more typical, stronger birch plywood was more of a challenge. With the air assist from the compressor I can cut 100% at 200mm/min most of the time. But the 10W TwoTrees TS2 can cut the same sheet at 300mm/min.
Jog the laser into position using the app with WiFi The OLM3 also has built-in WiFi, and you can easily connect to the machine using the free Laser Explorer app. The app does far more than I expected. You can select an image or text to engrave, create barcodes and QR codes, but what I find most useful is using it to precisely nudge the position of the laser. The machine doesn't have a built-in LCD screen to control the engraver, but the app is a useful substitute. I would be a little wary of using it for sculpting, though. When I turn on the laser to line up jobs, it sets the power at 4%, which is way too high and starts burning a spot on the material if you're not careful. I can't get it lower than 1% - in Lightburn I use 0.25%, which is enough to see the laser dot.
Connect Wirelessly to Your Engraver Using Lightburn I still prefer to use Lightburn to send jobs, and I did find the app disconnect a few times while testing. You can also access Engraver's own server via the IP address visible in the app. I was able to connect to Lightburn's engraver from a computer connected via ethernet. I just added another device and selected ethernet. Using this machine wirelessly is convenient, but I haven't had 100% success with it, with a few prints randomly aborting during printing.
The laser engraver is completely silent when not engraving. The fan is only turned off when the laser is on, when the laser is off the fan turns itself off after a few seconds. The fan is loud when running, but the motor runs very quietly. You can hear it in action in the accompanying video. The overall feeling is that of a very refined carver.
The Ortur Laser Master 3 is a very well designed machine that delivers some really good results. Its engraving performance is particularly impressive, with its high speed and fine laser spot. Setup is super easy, and I especially like how the belt and pulleys hide dirt and grime.
The integrated WiFi is a great feature, not only for use with the smartphone app, but also for wireless printing from the Lightburn, even if I didn't get 100% reliable results in my testing.

New Year’s Eve
Well there it is...almost gone. Another year under our belts. As we look forward to 2023 here’s a small selection of photos from each month.
At the beginning of the year my neighbour K, sent this photo taken on her phone. A stunning sunrise, with an unusual addition to the silhouette of the trees
The first spring flowers from our garden. This selection is a representation of some of my real favourite flowers. Narcissus, Hellebore and double Snowdrops. I love the early flowers, a real sign of hope and better days to come. This tiny cut glass vase is so handy for garden samples. It belonged to my late mother in law and I really like it
In February or March we went to Scotney Castle gardens and the Egyptian Geese had goslings. They keep well out of the way of the other water fowl and find a nice quiet corner with access to the lake
April 2022 we saw early purple orchids and green wing orchids (look very similar to be honest) at Bateman’s and Scotney Castle (both National Trust)
I can’t wait for the time the little lambs are in the fields. We’re lucky that the farm behind us keeps sheep. They do have a few cows, but it’s primarily a sheep farm and it’s a delight to walk on a mild, sunny day and watch their antics
My other favourite walking pastime is to walk through a bluebell wood. First we see the wild garlic and the early anemones and know the sea of blue is close behind. It’s just glorious and we’re absolutely blessed to be able to walk to one just down the lane. People talk about things making your heart sing and every time I see the bluebells, I do truly feel that
As it warmed up a little and the signs of spring were all around us, we decided to tackle a very long overdue job in the garden. We’d been mulling over whether to fill in our pond, or to clear the swamp and go again
Male and Female ‘Beautiful Demoiselle’
On balance, for our own enjoyment and for the benefit of wild and insect life, we decided to go ahead with restoration
It was such a hard slog and a long process, but ultimately really well worth it. The damsel and dragonflies seemed to find the first few spots of water. We kept it clear with the addition of some harmless blue dye and we spent very many hours sitting in a sunny spot, listening to cricket and resisting the temptation to over fill the level - which is just as well seeing as the rains that came towards the end of the year have it almost full to the brim. The weather has knocked it about though and we need to do a lot of clearing leaves and also prop up the wooden edging again
At the same time we had an application from Network Rail to access our woods in order to re excavate and clear a culvert at the bottom of the dip. There’s a tiny stream there, and although in the summer it dried to nothing, it’s now absolutely raging. We can actually hear the water rushing and tumbling when we’re in the garden. Thank goodness they came and did it and we utilised a lot of cut logs for impromptu tables and insect hideaways
This was also the summer of roses. I wouldn’t say we had a particularly abundant display this time, but I did get three absolutely gorgeous bushes for my birthday - all peachy orange and yellow golds: lovely
We spent less time walking locally this summer, because we spent nearly all our time outdoors working so hard on the pond and with reclaiming a massive area of garden. Previously known as the ‘wild patch’ we had to sacrifice the home for nature and clear it because it was in danger of overtaking the bottom of the garden completely. It’s going to need more work again as soon as it dries up here, we mustn’t let it go again. At least it was quite cool working in the shade of the trees. My shorts are pretty wrecked...white is not a great choice for gardening, but I was thrilled to get a nice light tan as my reward for all the bumps, bruises and grazes sustained
bigger than it looks here and extending the length of the garden behind the first tree line - this is where our own snowdrops and bluebells should be showing
The farmer also did some clearing work at the pond I like best. It’s not very large but it is very pretty. It’s just a shame he removed the old upturned rowing boat that used to make a scenic landmark
This is an old photo, but the best I’ve ever taken of a sheep. I call it ‘sheer bliss’
As the season began to fade, we started to stock up on logs. Our log supplier takes enormous pride in the quality of his product. Aged for two years at the very least, they’re super dry and burn brilliantly with little ash. Not only that, I think they’re all quite beautiful. I’d be happy to have them in the porch for decoration only. We sit in the porch to catch the evening sunshine and are often accompanied by a giant spider, the odd bird and a little mouse who likes to scurry in the bottom layer. It’s a little slice of quintessentially British life
Inspector Pritchard
It would be very easy to post photos of Inspector Pritchard for every month and I’ve been firm resisting...because how can you choose? Instead this is just a few of the feathers I collected from his moult. The vase is crammed full now. His tail feathers are coming back strong and already touch the floor. He’s going to be magnificent this year. As I type he’s spent the entire morning in the front porch, sheltering from the rain (except for when he came to the kitchen door for snack time)
I don’t think I can recall a year of such extremes in the weather. The summer was scorching, the autumn was absolutely torrential rain with much flooding and structural damage around and then winter hit
Squirrel numbers are climbing again after a low count last year - they’re just as cheeky as before too
There was plenty of snow and it lasted due to the freezing temperatures
The deer have been in the garden a lot, particularly one adult with her fawn. They know their way to the seed trays alright
This is just how close they come
Finally some pictures from this morning. This one’s unclear until I explain it’s a very long zoom from inside the kitchen (so framed by the glazing bars) and you can make out a very ancient tree trunk lying horizontally across the back of the view. It’s the one covered in bright green moss. I haven’t been out in the filthy wet weather, not least as it’s probably not too safe to go out, but am feeling quite sad at its loss. Such is life though
This is a visual clue as to how dark it is today. Not quite 10.30am and as gloomy as can be. One of the tiny trees in the kitchen just about lifted the gloom
I keep my photos in a new folder for each month and there are hundreds to choose from, so many birds, so many squirrels, rabbits, deer and Pritchard in the garden and flowers and shrubs and landscapes. I’ve chosen just a few that represent the year. It’s flown by and it’s been challenging on many fronts to say the least. But it’s the year we welcomed a beautiful granddaughter and enjoyed the wonderful wedding of our elder daughter - two absolute life highlights. Here’s to many more highlights in the year to come
Here’s to good health, peace and good times

꒰ personality ꒱
a smooth and cool confidence and a charming way of speaking. self assured
seems calm on the exterior but that all changes with his actions. he is incredibly chaotic
he sweet talks a lot and is able to make people second guess themselves
in reality can be quite reckless and daring. rather rough and callous in actuality. can be considered quite the daredevil
careless. is not afraid to step on a few eggshells if needed — and even then. if he gets a laugh out of it then why not?

silver tongued, able to spin the truth in various ways — a manipulator
can be quite sly, loves playing mind games but doesn’t seem as such - especially with his sweet talking
vindictive. willing to do whatever it takes to avenge his people and himself
his calmness façade misleads just how short-tempered and compulsive that he can be. he can appear cool and collected, if only to snap the next moment. leading people to false insecurity
duty driven despite all of his erratic nature. a great leader and amazing speaker. able to motivate and sway people
a vindictive sense of justice. believes heavily in an eye for an eye
morally questionable. willing to do whatever he must and sacrifice what he must. in the end it is better to be feared than loved. his mind is too far gone and he is incredibly erratic

very physically affectionate. always has to have your hand in his. plays a lot with your hair or your hands. sometimes slumps up into you and chuckles when you struggle to hold him up
loves to tease you in general. verbally, physically, in any way he can really. he’s a little shit about it. always finding ways to make you flustered if only to grab your chin and kiss it all away - or make it worse
quite protective of you. in general just cares for your well-being and wants to take care of you
so so flirty. has to be sure to throw you compliments. when you walk by he’ll let his eyes shamelessly trail you up and down. always finding some way to remind you just how in love with you he is
possessive. there’s no too ways about it. not just protective, not easily jealous - possessive. needs to make sure that everyone knows you’re his. has you wearing his jewellery, always has his arm around you or something in public
he’s a rockstar so of course you’ll go to his performances. and when you do, he’ll always find a way to pull you up onto stage. or make-out with you backstage pre/post show.
sometimes let’s you rest your head on his lap while he writes songs. always gets distracted every time he leans in to press kisses all over you. suddenly you’re in his lap and he’s all over you
loves leaving his lipstick all over your neck, or your wrists. he finds it so incredibly attractive
will set the world on fire if you asked him to

Dean’s not feeling guilty, but it’s a close thing.
double exposure by @flownwrong (sam/dean)
A sequence of shots with Dean in every one where he expected empty space, looking right at him where Sam expected him to turn away, only it’s not new, either—just one of the things he didn’t take the time to notice.

Not long after they move into the bunker, Dean loses a leg. Most of a leg. After the hospital, Sam brings him home, and they figure out how to live with what remains.

A lifetime of experience has taught Dean how to deal with his father’s mood swings and drunken stupors. Sometimes, John just needs to forget. Dean makes him remember what's important.

Teenchesters; John sets up a training simulation for the boys in which a sedated Sam plays the injured victim and Dean has to get him to safety before 'the monster' catches them or Sam passes out from 'blood loss.' Dean is determined to prove himself a worthy leader, but it soon becomes clear that something's off. The traps they come across are extreme and dangerous, and Sam starts to experience more effects than just a mild sedative should cause. Dean faces one of his greatest fears as it's revealed this test was never about him after all.

After all the years, they get more, and to spend them together.

Still, he doesn’t give up hope. He dials Dean’s beeper, almost laughing at the idea that he’s dialing Dean’s beeper as he does it. He wonders if he still has it. It’s the early aughts after all and having a beeper is definitely no longer en vogue. Sam imagines Dean unclipping it from his belt and he actually does laugh at that image. It does help that he’s still a little drunk. Mostly. The cold is bracing him enough to help sober him slightly.

Post Season 13AU! Michael was made for War, not creation. He was never going to be able to play God. He tried anyway. In the strange new world Michael left broken, Castiel and Dean run a clinic for injured travelers who stumble upon it. Dean gardens. Castiel heals with mostly human hands. They trade in information, hoping their lost family will find their way back to them. But there are other things traversing this new world, things that pose dangers like they have never seen. A year after settling in, Castiel starts seeing things that aren’t there. Is the pressure of everything finally getting to him? Or is there something else coming their way? And if so what? And what does it want with Castiel?

the hand of franklin by @simplyirenic (peglar/bridgens, ensemble)
It’s 2014, and Terror Football Club is about to take on Erebus Athletic in the quarterfinals of the FA Sunday League Cup: a proper derby, or so captain Francis Crozier believes. these are the days that must happen to you by @rubysharkruby (little/tozer)
In a camp filled with the dead and dying, Edward Little sits down to wait for the end, but instead of death finding him it is Sergeant Tozer; ragged and wild-eyed but in surprisingly good health. He killed a bear, he claims, and will share what he has. It’s not a lie, but as Edward feels his bones shudder and twist beneath his skin and begins to see impossible things, he realises it isn’t the whole story.

hope i'm not too late! Leo x reader (Christmas/Holiday themed) where Leo and reader kinda goof around camp for Christmas and reader made Leo give gifts that they made tgt in Cabin Nine to children at Camp (Leo is forced to disguised as an elf but he does it anyway bc he loves reader) and maybe a double date with Solangelo. (platonic Nico and Will x reader if possible). if both ideas are used, it would be great but using one of these two ideas would be enough for me :) thank you!!
Christmas 2021 Masterlist A/N: Alright more Leo fluff LET’S GO —Danny
Dec. 8th: Santa’s helping hand —(Platonic!Leo Valdez xGN!Reader)
Warnings: None
Words: 726
“Why are we giving presents two weeks before Christmas?” You ask your friend as he piles more and more boxes on your poor arms.
“’Cause I made them three days ago and I’m too impatient to wait,” He said happily. “C’mon, Y/N, it’ll be fun— you’ll be Santa’s little helping hand for a day.”
“You’re supposed to be Santa in this scenario?” You replied. “Cause you’re way too small for the part.”
“Shut up,” Leo retorted without losing his good mood. “Here, put this on and let’s go!”
The boy placed a red pointy hat on your head, the fluffy white tassle bouncing back and fort with each step you took. Leo took half of the presents your were carrying and pulled out a red sack from his magical belt, throwing the boxes in with little care.
“Careful there, or your presents will be all broken by the time you deliver them...”
“Nah, they can’t break,” He smiled. “But even if they do I can fix them in a jiffy, don’t worry.”
“What are they, if I can ask?”
“I made some toys for the younger kids— some tools for the older kids, or y’know, things that I think will come in handy. Then I got lazy and I started to simply pack a bunch of random snacks in boxes.”
“Bet the Ares and Mr D’s cabin will love those...”
As you kept walking Leo finished placing all the presents inside the huge bag, he got to the dinning pavilion, where everyone was currently having lunch, and pulled out a rubber chicken from his belt, which he then pressed. The squealing sound caught everyone’s attention, and he grinned at the crowd.
“Good day to you all,” He spoke in a strange accent. “Christmas has arrived early this year.”
He grabbed a second pointy hat from Gods know where and put in on top of his own head. Then he handed you a piece of paper: A list, and a small speech so you could play along.
“Cabin nine,” You said to the audience, reading with a bit of difficulty his thin, messy handwriting. “Please stand up!”
The campers -to your surprised- obeyed. Leo’s siblings had a mixture of curiosity and excitement in their faces, especially the younger ones.
“Santa thinks you guys are really cool and amazing and— hey I’m not reading this, it’s Hephaestus propaganda!” You joked, folding the list and looking back at the crowd. “Leo’s brought presents for you, guys. Come get them.”
The group of children surrounded you and Leo in an instant, he demanded his siblings to get in a line and handed them presents with impressive speed, you held the bag and stopped the campers from snopping around. Once cabin nine was done, Leo started to call the rest of the cabins one by one.
The kids seemed genuinely pleased with their presents, and even Chiron, Mr D and the satyrs got their own boxes of snacks.
“Well, looks like your idea was a huge success,” You nudge Leo’s arm. “I bought a few presents myself, but those are for the real Christmas morning.”
“Sweet! Can I help?”
“Noup.”
“Aw, c’mon!”
“Your present is in that pile! I would ruin the sweet surprise if I show you what you’re getting weeks before I even give it to you! Besides,” You grin. “I already asked Percy and Grover to help me out.”
“What! Why are they allowed to help but not me?”
“Cause Grover is great at keeping things secret and Percy’s brain runs too fast to hold any information concerning other people’s business.”
Leo scrunched up his nose, averting his gaze from yours.
“Yeah, that checks out,” He sighed.
“Don’t get pouty, Valdez, I’m sure we’ll find some other stuff to do together this month— even if we don’t we’ll have Christmas’ Eve and the morning after to hang out!”
Leo’s smiled came back with your reminder, he folded the bag under his arm. “True, true— this is for you, by the way!”
He handed you a small box full of your favorite snacks, there was a small bow on top.
“Aww, thank you!” You beamed. “I don’t have anything for you, though...”
“A hug would be nice?”
“Deal.”
You wrapped your arms around him and squeezed tight, Leo chuckled at your actions and squeezed back with equal effort.
Taglist.
