Observations from Element episode 1:

Eichi and Natsume's convo from the beginning is just repurposed from Element's epilogue but it still gives my brain something to chew on. The antagonism between them is really amusing. I may have screamed when Tsumugi walked in.

I now come to realise that Enstars dialogue comes off as noticeably more unhinged when spoken aloud.

Seeing how plain the Yumenosaki mob students look I think Hiyori calling Tsumugi "mob character-kun" is more than a little harsh.

Ishikawa's voice for Tsumugi has become more emotive over the years but the difference is really noticeable here. Not that its a bad thing; doubling down on the excessive, forced cheeriness was the right call for 2nd year Tsumugi imo. I can't wait till we get to hear some of his signature lines, personally looking forward to "no matter what people chat about the brain has the same chemical reaction"

Tsumugi's excitement over Eichi saying they're friends was an addition and I was not emotionally prepared for tbh.

This was cut in the 2019 anime too iirc but I was a little sad that Tsumugi's "I'm curious about the kid named Sakasaki" spiel was cut. I can live with it but I think Tsumugi being shown to have an interest in Natsume before they actually meet again gives their childhood connection more weight.

The book Wataru is reading is called 『夏の国』 (Summer Country), if this is a real book I couldn't find it. Something perhaps of note is that the kanji for summer (夏) is in Natsume's name (夏目)

I really dig the vibes of the secret room, it seems so chill.

Natsume going on about the state of Yumenosaki or whatever the fuck and Wataru responding with "hey Natsume-kun you'd look really cute in girl's clothes" made me giggle. I assume this adaptation will give more attention to Natsume's insecurities about not being taken seriously? Considering that its also a surprisingly well-chosen first interaction between Natsume and another Oddball.

The Faust name-drop almost gave me a heart-attack. I hadn't even considered that Rocket Start would be adapted at all. (I didn't catch a lick of what Wataru said so I didn't notice it was Rocket Start until right then). Apparently HappyEle requested for certain things to be included, makes me wonder if Natsume comparing Wataru to Faust was one of those...

Seeing the scene where Tsumugi finds the secret room from Natsume's POV means that Tsumugi's line where he's like "zomg what if there are students doing drugs down there?!?! 0-0" had no chance of being included (rip). Which is a shame because its the second funniet thing in all of Element. The funniest is Eichi's Marie Antoinette kinnie mother.

The basic low down is that they're a self admitted conservative, pro cop, and are transphobic (even if they id as trans now, they still back up and support transphobic ideologies) so like. In general just not a good person with their world views lmao

I am Definitely not a transmed, if they were talking about me i have no idea where they would even get that from, i literally have transmed under my dni criteria in my carrd so. Lol, im also a very high fem non op trans man myself so me being transmed literally makes 0 sense fjskv

But to summerize my Personal issues with this person as best and as short as possible. I have osdd with a system member that kins faux and is not comfortable with doubles (they can cause very bad episodes of unreality that can become potentially dangerous for the body), they have did with a system member that kins faux and is not comfortable with doubles (for similar reasons as far as im aware), they joined a brc server im in (a public fandom server, not meant for kinnie stuff, mind you), and put in their intro like. Literally me no doubles or smth along those lines and listed faux, so I, in good faith, messaged them to let them know that i also kin faux and am not comfortable with doubles and would like to work something out so we could both be in the server and still be comfortable, they didnt take it well, ended up leaving the server (or being removed, still not sure what happened there because they were causing issues in the server Anyways), and then they proceeded to just be? Very weird fjeg, they had me blocked certain places, but didnt have me blocked on others, and would still try to interact with me as if we were chill. For some reason even tho i apparently trigger them (which. Idk if someone triggered me by just simply existing i wouldnt try talking to them DJDG), i ended up blocking them on everything once i was told about the kind of transphobic shit they were retweeting and them being a cop boot licker, and honestly. If anyone was doing any stalking it was them, because atp i simply forgot about it and redid my carrd to what it is now, and literally within a handful of hours of me doing it, like within the same night, i was told and shown that they redid their entire carrd to look basically exactly the same as mine, and even stole the icon i edited myself specifically for My carrd, the one im using as my icon rn, but they used the same bg and shit and while like. Everything else there could be plausible deniability on why it was the same. The fact that they took the icon i made myself just made it obvious they took everything from my carrd, they have since changed it a bit to look at least. A bit different, but are still using my icon lmao, so again, if anyone was the stalker in this situation it was def them because how would they see i changed my carrd That quickly after i had already blocked them and then. I never understood the concept of feeling jealous of your special interest/hyperfixation (I've seen several neurodivergent people report this, and I've just never been able to relate to it). Now I've been finding myself feeling uncomfortable when I see people claiming themselves as Double D kinnies/saying that they're like him too or that they're his #1 fans because I think they'll never be so similar to him as I am or like him as much as I do 💀 that's SO stupid and childish and irrational, but I can't help but feel that way. It's like I feel like he "belongs to me" and that people are stealing him from me lol it doesn't make any sense. Of course I won't do anything to people xD it's just a stupid feeling I can't help but feeling, but I know how to deal with it maturely and keep it to myself. Please, don't be afraid to approach me. It's my responsibility to face this feeling and rationally speaking I know that interacting with other Double D kinnies can be a valuable and pleasurable experience because we probably have a lot in common to share.

The funny part is that Double D also feels easily jealous/insecure/uncomfortable when he feels like other people are taking his place/stealing his role as if that were a threat to him, to who he is, to his identity, because he's very possessive of his "roles", of the "labels" that he feels define his identity. Like, other people can't be smarter than him because it would destroy his self-esteem and sense of identity. He's the smart guy, so from his point of view, other people can't be because if that happens, who the hell is he? What's his purpose in the world? If he's not the smart guy, he won't be any good, he won't be anything special and people will have no reason to like him. Why would people like him or be his friend if he's not smart? God, this is a topic that I really want to talk about in more detail, but not here because I'll still make my video talking about Double D and why I identify with him so much.

Damn, should've saved the "you know" for this one lol. I translate and scan books and have written a little fanfiction. Among other things...

5). Do you fictionflicker?

Had to search this so here's the definition for others: A Kintype that isn't permanent. It seems to "flicker" in and out of existence if you lose interest in that fandom.

Before Guilty Gear I probably did, but I had a hard time in general figuring myself out until relatively recently.

6). When did you realise you were fictionkin? How long have you been in the community.

It'll have been a year in late August. Some of my friends are fictionkin but I wouldn't say I really interact with the wider community at all.

7). What was your introduction to fictionkin?

Lmao... Probably seeing kids talk about it on DeviantArt back in '05 or '06. I've known about it for a long time. Though... I have to admit my views towards it back then used to be negative.... My second "introduction" was in the end of last year when I finally sat down and looked stuff up about it.

8). Are you similar to your fictotype in personality? How so?

That's how this all started. Friends kept making jokes about me being a Sol kinnie even though I was like this BEFORE Guilty Gear and eventually I just went and researched it and, well, here we are. People on sites I'm not open about this on have compared me to Sol before too and I just laugh about it. They don't know, but they know.

9). Are you similar to your fictotype in appearance? How so?

Not really. I guess we both have brown hair that wants to be vertical real bad and I've got a crazy shoulder/waist/hips ratio but that's about it. Oh, default expression like this -> T_T

I've met therians and non-fiction otherkin in real life but have only seen other fictionkin online.

Yeah, there are a few other Sols out there. It's gone fine, I don't really care about doubles and all that jazz and it didn't seem like they cared either. It'd be fun getting all the Sols together for a BBQ and shitty beer. We can play cornhole.

Bad. Makes me stay up late reblogging Jack-O' images :/

Jk lmao I ended up searching this term to make sure I was understanding it right because I was going to say "no" to this question but I guess I "dream shift" often and get "phantom shifts" (phantom limb sensations for non-human appendages) sometimes. For the phantom shifts it seems to be for wings the most frequently with claws and meat-tearing teeth less frequently.

The wing feeling is weird, I don't like it. It doesn't feel like the whole wing, just sort of where they would connect to my back but either the rest of the wing never existed or was never formed in a way that had nerve endings, or my brain forgot what the rest of the wing would be like. Usually I only get this feeling right after I wake up and it goes away quickly but sometimes it happens when I'm fully awake. The claws/teeth happen whenever.

I often wonder how related these feelings are to having synesthesia and being trans.

15). How do you deal with kin for fun?

I don't. It can be a little annoying sometimes when trying to find people or studies/essays that are serious about otherkinity, but more often than not the KFF people are just teens goofin off. I don't care. They are, as the name suggests, just doing it for fun and exploring their identities through characters they relate to. Introspection is always good.

16). What are your thoughts on symbols, flags, etc.?

Indifferent. The 7-pointed star's pretty neat though.

17). Does fictionkinity connect to spirituality for you?

No.

18). Does fictionkinity connect to neurodivergence for you?

It seems so. Like I said in one of the above questions, I used to have a hard time figuring myself out and when I was young I'd try to see things through the lens of a character that I related to. This likely wasn't otherkinity, but I think it maybe evolved into it. There weren't many masculine 6'5" women for me to relate to as a kid, I didn't know how I was supposed to be and gender didn't make any sense. There's definitely a relationship between being trans and otherkin for me.

19). Do other people notice your similarity to a character or species?

It seems so.

20). How do you express your fictotype? Clothes, merch, cosplay, maybe even name?

21). What's something about the fictionkind community you wish was different?

Don't see many essays and stuff from fictionkin as I do from other kinds of 'kin, which is a shame. It's probably because the rest of the otherkin community and the internet in general are unkind towards fictionkin.

22). What's something about the fictionkind community that you appreciate?

Someone's gonna laugh and say I'm just not seeing it, but if there's drama in the GG fictionkind community it never makes its way onto my feed. Hope it stays that way. Leave me out of it.

23). How do you approach consuming your source? Analytically, obsessively, casually, reluctantly, etc...

I bite a hole in the bottom of it and chug the whole thing like a beer can.

24). What's the worst anti-fickin take you've seen?

The most common one because it's annoying: "You're not actually a fictional character." No shit.

That even if it really is only a passing phase, or that it turns out someone actually isn't 'kin of what they thought they were, that they still learned something about themselves.

The other day I compared Sol to an Italian mastiff. Dragons, obviously. Ifrit from FFXVI and Dante's Sin Devil Trigger from DMC5 share a vibe with his Dragon Install too.

I spent 6 months working on a 3D printer to make a 1:1 scale Outrage MK.II, code, and have six Queen records. What else is there.

I don't know. Some things make more sense, some things don't. It doesn't bother me as much as it did at first but finally having an explanation for what my brain is doing—and that it happens to other adults too—has been comforting. Though, I suppose it's on-theme for Sol to have complex identity feelings and a struggle to accept them.
