Your Lego creations are seriously mind blowing. Please keep them coming (on your own time of course). But how do you get all those Lego pieces? And the character ones? Like I don't have the slightest clue and it is a burning question in my mind

Aww, thank you, dear anon! I am so glad you are enjoying them. And I will keep them coming (many long after the shows have aired) I have ideas for several more series and scenes to cover.

But how do I get those LEGO pieces?

Well, for one, many of the pieces are from LEGO sets I’ve bought, built and later taken apart or LEGO I’ve picked up from yard-sales and Facebook market place and the like. I’ve also bought some sets for specific pieces, particularly when ones that have normal skin tones or fun torsos go on sale and then have mined them for parts: like BTS and Queer Eye and Legends of Play. I’m waiting on the Pharrell LEGO set to go on sale because I want all the heads.

But if I’m going after specific pieces? LEGO has a part of their website that you can order off of called Bricks and Pieces and you can sort down to specific pieces by category and by color, and I regularly order off of there. There’s also a large resale LEGO market: www.bricklink.com and you can find pretty much any LEGO set or piece that has ever existed being resold on that site. And I also get a lot of pieces I want off of there. Haven’t ordered from there in awhile but I do have some wishlists stored (does my spouse call it the LEGO black market, yes)

And then when I’m creating a character out of LEGO, I keep my pieces sorted (by type and general color) to easily mix and match the pieces to get as close to representing the character as possible.

So like, for Vicha and Phoom here, I started with white torsos and red pants. I swapped out the arms to be bare because the skin tone I had with white sleeves was too dark for them. I then used the expressions on the faces and the hair pieces to distinguish between them, and try and bring forward their personalities otherwise they’d look the same.

Or when I made my Heartstopper main crew, I thought through skin tone, hair style, clothing style, and expression. And tried to match them to their more iconic looks in order to bring them to life in LEGO.

Accessories can also really help delineate a character, as you can see here with the Roses of Schitt’s Creek.

RIGHT LIKE…………we meet tk and he’s got that gleam in his eye because he’s going to ask the man he thinks is the love of his life to marry him. he loves love so much despite what life already threw his way and he continues to love love when more tragedy comes at him. he relapses and moves to austin and he meets an incredible man who shows him it’s okay to open up his heart again. he meets a man and he’s almost too good to be true and wants him and tk runs because these feelings are so intense and so unlike anything he’s experienced so quickly, and it’s like….it’s like he can’t accept that he deserves that. he meets an incredible man who loves him for every inch of him, for his sharp edges and big heart because tk doesn’t know it yet but he’s allowed carlos to realize he was never broken, that his dream he never allowed himself to have was becoming real. carlos shows tk that he deserves the love and then some. tk was the key that unlocked carlos but carlos was the man who caught tk when he fell and waited for him to be ready and loved him as he always wanted to be loved. carlos would’ve stood by tk’s side and taken care of him whether they had five years or fifty years and everyone around them knows this fact so deeply because it comes off them in waves how much they love each other and how they’re basically fated and now they’re getting married. and i’m going to go cry myself to sleep.

There are a few I enjoy, but I think that Carlos' journey to hell after his father's murdered is probably my favorite one. Rafael is one of the best actors I've seen in a long while, and he delivers such an amazing and inspiring performance of grief and despair, it's just perfect.

Another storyline I like is the breakup era, the whole ice scenes and Carlos' vigil by TK's side. As you can see, I love Carlos a whole bunch!

If I'm talking about other characters, probably my fave storylines are Marjan's, Paul's and Judd's in that order. Marjan's is about empowerment and growth, Paul's is about finding your place in a world that not always accepts us, and Judd's is about redemption and forgiveness. What's not to love about them?

Owen takes an audible inhale, seemingly remembering where he is. He grows more professional, nodding once, and Carlos can easily see how he commands a room. “I see your skill. Your loyalty. And I have a new position for you, if you’re willing.”

Carlos frowns. “What is it?”

“Head guard for the prince,” Owen tells him, and Carlos nearly chokes on his tea. “You’ll have a room in the palace right next to his and it’ll be your duty to ensure his safety all hours of the day.”

“Um…” he says with an unsteady voice. Owen has an expectant smile—like Carlos should be overjoyed at the offer—but he feels like Owen has the wrong guy. “I’ve never been a guard. I don’t have any training.”

“Your father was an excellent one. You showed me last night that it’s in your blood,” Owen answers automatically, and Carlos swallows hard.

This... is not from my TK and Sophie fic, but something that was inspired by a mutual's fan art on here -

“Please be careful,” Carlos said, handing the keys over. “What is my car?” “Not half as pretty as the man who owns it,” TK said, batting his eyelashes flirtatiously.

Carlos crossed his arms. “TK…”

“Fine”. TK sighed dramatically. “Your car is an eight-year-old piece of heavy machinery in good condition with good tire pressure, two windshield wipers and you expect it to come home tonight the same way”.

“TK, have you still not replaced the wiper that flew off your car?” Carlos exclaimed. “Baby, we’re talking about your car,” TK said, taking his husband’s hands and squeezing them. “And remember, my car is being fixed right now”.

“That storm was almost a month ago!” his husband exclaimed. “You drove around with only one windshield wiper for almost a month?” “Maybe,” TK said as he looked away. “But,” he added brightly, “no storms are projected for today, so we should be good. I’ll text you when I get to her place”. He planned to peck Carlos on the cheek and dash out the door, but his husband saw this coming a mile away and wrapped his arms around TK’s waist.

“Not so fast, you,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to TK’s temple. “What is something you’re not going to do in the Camaro today?”

“Eat Cheetos,” TK answered. Carlos nodded expectantly. “Or…?” “Or nachos”. TK added. “Yes”. Carlos nodded again. “Or tacos. Or tater tots, or anything that you would eat and then wipe your hands on the seats”. “Not like it’s a super common occurrence”. TK muttered mutinously as he headed for the door. “But one snackcident, and I’m marked for life”. “Yes, I want you to text me when you get there”. Carlos said, opening and leaning on the door frame. “And no, snackcident is not a word”. TK whirled around the in the doorway. “If Jake Peralta says it, then it is”. “If Captain Holt would call him on it, then no, it isn’t”. Carlos replied.

Inspiration Weekend

Tagged by @rmd-writes.  To answer your question - there are about 17 kinds of alcohol in my house, none of them are red wine.  I’m currently trying to decide if tequila & lime & soda will scratch the same itch.

This inspiration is currently somewhat more aspirational than actual - but it’s definitely living rent free in my head.  I want to write, but the page remains blank.

I love all your takes on fandom, ships, queer media, so I want to ask, what do you think about writing fanfic of real people ie. Thai BL couple? I'm coming back to fandom (K-pop to Thai BL specifically) after years and I'm having this urge to write fanfic of this branded pair that I like, like an AU version of them some sort. I have always wanted to write my own romance novels so I figure this could be a way to practice writing, but when I was still in K-pop fandom on Twitter, I was constantly told that writing fanfic shipping real people is weird. Honestly the thought of writing about a ship in this K-pop group I like still weird me out (although I do ship them) and is not exciting. But I have no problem putting the Thai BL pair into the stories I have in my head. I have spent hours consuming fanfics of them on Thai novel site using Google Translate. Also, Thai fandom has this thing where instead of the actor's name, it usually would be character's name with their face attached to it, like they are acting and the fanfic is a script, which make reading them more fun, open up more possibilities and dynamics. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you and sorry for the bad English. 🙏🏻

Thanks for the complement and coming here with this ask. I appreciate the kind words very much.

As far as real-person fanfic (RPF)I think it gets a lot of hate from a lot of people, but also it’s super common in the world in general and not just in unpaid fanfic circles. While I don’t write RPF myself, I’ve always had friends who did and do, and I see no real problem with it. As long as you’re not tagging the real people in it, I have no problem with its existence.

A huge problem and conflation with RPF being a huge toxic problem is that it assumes that everyone writing RPF is a toxic fan (tin-hat, sasaeng, etc) who is out there demanding that those real people get together and that by writing about the possibility of them potentially being together you are removing their agency and are being creepy and forceful. The reality is that most people who read and write RPF are normal fans with normal boundaries who know it’s all fiction and all in good fun, and it’s just a few bad apples that ruin the fun because they cannot separate the person from the object that has been created and is being packaged as a commodity (which is what the personas of famous people are).

I think in Thai BL fandom there’s an added layer of ease because they’ve already adopted an RPF model of promotion to sell their pairs and shows. Now whether any of those men are actually together in real life, there is a performance of a level of intimacy they perform in front of crowds and social media. Because the imagined couple or branded couple or CP already exists as a fantasy for fans to enjoy, there’s a level of implicit buy-in from the artists that doesn’t necessarily exist in other fandom spaces. This may be why it’s easier for you to enjoy it in Thai BL fandom than in another.

But real people write and profit off of RPF all the time. Every biopic in Hollywood tells an imagined story about a real-life figure and their real life events. People win whole Oscars for their depictions of RPF!! Hamilton is an excellent example of a viral musical that is an RPF story come to life, especially the Hamilton/Angelica storyline as she was already married long before they met. Evita is another classic RPF musical that is beloved by the people. The myth of Anastasia and the beloved 1998 animated classic is a hopeful bit of RPF that has existed in some form or another since the fall of the Russian royalty (though the grand duchess receiving girls who pretended to be Anastasia is a real event so…RPF). The Crown on Netflix is RPF. I think time and distance helps people not feel it’s less weird, like if the person isn’t going to see it then maybe it’s fine.

I think RPF also gets a bad name because it’s largely what tabloids and gossip blogs have long traded on. Especially as tabloids and gossip columns trade in stories that are aggressive and accusatory and demeaning, and are meant for the personalities in question to see and are reported to be true. A lot of people conflate the two things.

My best practices for RPF run about the same as general fanfiction: keep it to fan sites like the one you’re currently reading it on (or tumblr, or AO3, or any of the many options out there), if you’re going to share it on Twitter or Instagram (which I’m old and wouldn’t because I belligerent in a healthy level of separation - the way I can’t with people just casually adding omega verse comments and retweets to pictures on public forums) don’t @ them and even be careful using hashtags because if actors want to read that they should go looking for it like the rest of us, and generally just be respectful of the artists and their life and their personal boundaries. General rule of thumb for interactions with everyone: if it’s not something they can change in 5 minutes or something wildly not okay, don’t comment on a persons actions or decisions.

And that’s about it. I hope you write what you want to write. What you’re talking about, using them almost as a dream cast for your original fiction is also barely in the RPF category. I hope you have fun. Your English was fantastic (said as a lifelong English speaker who has taught the language and am unsure how proficient any of us are with this creole of a language).

Oh and if you’re messing around in Thai BL RPF just know that Joong Archen may find whatever you write and read it. We have a deal, Joong, I know you’re out here somewhere but I would like to keep my old lady sensibilities and pretend that my fandom life is still kept relatively separate from the artists.

I agree!! (With your tags) The banter was totally TK trying to cheer Carlos up/knock him out of the funk a little. They both do this and I love it. They don’t treat each other as entirely fragile and this is clearly a bit out of the worst of it.

Yeah my head is very much full of thoughts about that scene as a whole. But it really is the different ways we see them helping one another through things for me. Like obviously, we know TK is worried and Carlos is pretending like everything is okay. And this isn't the first time we've seen them try to use humour to make the other feel better (TK in 2.04 using the personal shopper line to make Carlos smile is always a big one for me and the only one I can think of right now because like I said head full lmao) Anyways, off topic, but yeah I agree with everything you said about how they treat each other in times like these.

These are the little moments I love seeing and we saw them throughout the episode which made me even happier. But yes, the domesticity of that scene truly is a win for me (all of us honestly.) They care so much about one another and that will always make me emotional.

i did moments on the couch here, so i'll do paramedic trio grief processing! this is really just based on the fact that those three are so dear to me, and the idea of them helping each other with all they've gone through really intrigues me. i can't say i've worked on this one as much as i'd like to, but here's a tiny bit!

Nancy smiles the tiniest bit, reaching up and tilting the framed photo of Tim back so its level. She misses him, down to her core, and takes a moment to inhale sharply and zero in on the faintest memories of his sharp laughter amid the noise that seems to be bouncing off the walls.

"Nance?"

She glances over her shoulder and finds TK, sleeves haphazardly pushed to his elbows, hair a little mussed from where Jonah'd been pulling at it out on the makeshift dance floor. He smiles and for a second, all she sees is blue lips and dead eyes. Nancy swallows, surprised to suddenly feel a tear slide down her cheek, and TK's blissful expression shifts immediately.

@ishotforthestars and @doublel27 are both intrigued by this one fic which is my contribution to the @911lsbb this year. So far we've got 13k+ written, and I've found myself cornered by my own writing, so we'll see.

Paul shakes his head. “It might not be real,” he says softly, voice barely audible over the audience chanting his name and Alex’s. “It’s a Page Six exclusive, T. An anon submission.”

TK manages to snatch his own phone out of Paul’s fingers and flickers the screen alight to read the headline, followed by a string of pictures that leave nothing to imagination.

He feels as though he can't breathe, the air suddenly too thin around him. He knows he's hyperventilating, he knows he's not actually dying, but a part of him just wishes for the numbness of darkness.

The platform chimes to life before Paul can even reach him. TK looks back at his friend with a pained expression before the platform brings him up to the stage.

The show must go on, indeed.
