Lore Drop
Tagged by nobody in particular, I just like memes.
Do you make your bed?
Yes, it looks nicer that way.
Favourite number?
I've been told it's 7.
What's your job?
I listen to people's problems, try to help and sometimes fix things.
If you could go back to school, would you?
Sure, I'd consider a Master's. Not sure I'd be up for a PhD at thos point in time. I'm eyeing up a diploma. We don't stop learning in medicine.
Can you parallel park?
I'm pretty good at it, actually. I hate bay parking in tight spots, though. My old car didn't have any parking assistance so I learned the old fashioned way. And my current car's alarm is too sensitive for my tastes.
Do you think aliens are real?
Statistically, there is probably life put there somewhere.
Can you drive a manual car?
I've only recently converted to automatic cars, so i have something like a decade's experience with manual cars. It's less stressful in traffic but I feel like I have less direct control when I'm doing manoeuvres.
What's your guilty pleasure?
I don't think simple pleasures should make people feel guilt. That said I've been busy for so long that just taking it easy and letting myself have a mental health day being unproductive feels like a guilty pleasure. Dx Dude has to remind me that I'm allowed to just do nothing on a day off.
Tattoos?
None yet, maybe one day. I feel like I would get a cat tattoo if or when that happens.
Favourite colour?
Red.
Do you like puzzles?
Yes. But I have a lot less patience than I used to. I'm just mentally tired a lot of the time.
Any phobias?
Not officially. But the idea of going on a very large boat or being in a locked space makes me uncomfortable, and I can thank watching Titanic for that, I think.
Favourite childhood sport?
Benchball? Gymnastics? I can't remember which sports I liked the most as a kid.
Do you talk to yourself?
I think out loud all the time. Having a cat around makes it more socially acceptable.

What helps you with laundry? Especially with the time intervals, since it's such a disruptive stop and go activity. What do you do in between so you're not a day in with maybe a load done? Do you sort it in a particular way to make it easier to start?
Laundry is a hard one for me as I don’t actually have access to doing ours (stairs are not my friend and our machines are in the basement, we’re working on fixing this). We also don’t have a tumble dryer so we have to hang things to dry, which depending on the time of year, can take up to a day when you factor in humidity and temps, but we have sort of found a solution?
The system ETD and I have is that we have set days for laundry, usually on the weekends, that allow us enough time to get everything done and set us up for the week ahead.
I sort things into piles (because he hates doing that and it’s the main reason he can’t do laundry cause it’s just a step too much for his ADHD) and then he’s in charge of taking them up and down the stairs to wash and dry. A way that we think might work for him to get around this is to have a multi-bin sorting system, rather than just one giant hamper, but we haven’t been able to do that yet to test it out.
We also try to schedule a lot of our other cleaning within those intervals, because as you say, there is a lot of stopping and starting. This can, however, work really well with the “ten minute pick up” routine, where you set a timer for 10 minutes and focus on just one room.
I usually wander around with a basket and just pick up things that need to be sorted away, clearing out the general clutter of the room, which can make it much more manageable to stay of top of things and avoid the whole “visual exhaustion” factor that is so common with ADHD, and makes it really hard for us to start tasks. Having the timer also helps make the task feel tangible and achievable, rather than “an impossible task that will take all day” because time blindness is a thing and ADHD is the drama queen of making you think something is impossible because there is a lot of STUFF around you.
I also use this method for all my other chores, setting a 10-minute timer to do as many dishes as possible, 10 mins to sweep and mop the floor, 10 mins to give the bathroom a quick clean, or 10 mins to shake out the bedding and remake it.
Which again works really well with laundry, cause if you’ve got something in the wash for 30 mins, and you are physically capable of it, you can set 3 10 minute interval timers, and conceivably get 3 items on your chore list done.
There are days when I am neither physically nor mentally equipped to do these things and will absolutely just lay on the couch watching Netflix between loads of laundry (and that’s fine!) so it’s not a perfect system, but I really find taking advantage of those small-time windows can really help me focus on something small, which will contribute to my living habitat in some way.
And with that said, I’m off to set a 10-minute timer to try and do the dishes.
I hope that was helpful? Also, I really recommend Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD by Susan Pinsky, a lot of her “how-to” advice on housekeeping really revolutionized the way I think about housework, and I’m no longer struggling along attempting to have a “perfect” home according to neurotypical standards. So my house might not be as pretty as some people would like, but it’s the most organized and clean it’s ever been in all my life, and that’s worth more to me than being Pinterest/Instagram worthy!

How did you want/expect the night king to die? Did you expect him to die at all?
I mean, i didn’t mind the method that much, although i wish someone with more emotional beef with the night king would have done it. Arya’s never met him and has very little to do with him. My problem was; I just don’t think he was developed enough before he died. He was just some big bad to be honest. I wasn’t asking for a sympathetic backstory or something. I wanted to know the lore. Why the cold aesthetic? Why do they want to wipe out all life? Are they a force of hate and evil? are they just cold and uncaring about life, like some lovecarft monster? And why are they like that? There are some amazing theories out there and i wish they’d used one.

Hello! I was wondering if I could ask you, how would you talk to a patient after a medical error?
Good question!
The general rule is to acknowledge that an error was made, apologize for it if necessary, and then work on making sure the same mistake doesn’t happen again.
In actual practice, it really depends on the error.
An order placed on the wrong chart that was caught and fixed before it was carried out? Fine. Probably doesn’t need to be divulged to the patient because it just increases patient anxiety and mistrust. These mistakes often still get reported within the hospital to a review board or risk management committee to help prevent future errors (and ultimately, patient harm and lawsuits). At my hospital, that would be reported as a near miss and staff would be educated or a new chart identification system would be put in place to prevent that error from happening in the future.
What if a patient gets an incorrect drug or dose but no harm is done? That’s sort of up to the discretion of the doctor but in general it’s still a good idea to own up to it. But say an order was placed on the wrong chart and a patient ended up getting a medication that they were allergic to or that made their problem worse or that caused some new problem. That’s absolutely something that should be discussed with the patient.
It should be noted that many states now have laws in place that allow for doctors to explain and apologize for medical errors without fear of their words being used to sue them.
I would approach the situation by first asking about the patient’s wellbeing. Show them you care about what’s happening to them more than covering your butt. Then I would explain what was intended to happen vs. what actually happened and SAY THE ACTUAL WORDS “I’m sorry.” I personally think as a doctor it’s important not to place blame on an individual who is carrying out my orders (unless they blatantly went against those orders) if they made a mistake.  However, it might be appropriate to have the person who made the error apologize too. I think it would be good to pause and allow the patient to absorb what happened and even get mad or complain afterward. And after that, lay out to the patient how you are going to make things right. What’s the next treatment plan? What are you / your office / your hospital going to do to prevent a recurrence of this error?
In the end, the patient may still be harmed and your apology may not fix things, but it does show that you care about the patient and are trustworthy. Plus apologizing before the patient even knows an error has happened helps prevent more confusion and misplaced anger and conflict. They may still fire you or sue you, but at least your conscience can be clean.

SPYRO!!!!! I only wish Tom Kenny was voicing him!!!!! The voice acting for Ripto's Rage and Year of the dragon really suited his snarky personality to me despite sounding a little older.
He is though! At least in one of the interviews I watched they said they got Tom Kenny!

Hi Joy. How did you find someone that could help with myofascial release? were you just tossed around or did you research for it? Did you need physician approval?
No approval needed, it was just something I found on my own that helped with my pain relief. You can google around to see if there are any massage therapists/PTs in your area who offer it :)
