It wasn't a divine power striking karma upon its creations or pieces of metal becoming too smart, reanimated corpses or a colossal meteor with the intention of wiping everything out. No, instead it was, like most things in the world, caused by the sticky fingers of humanity. They were always greedy, eager to please themselves and bend backwards just to lick their own asses.  It didn't matter if lives were lost, countries were destroyed or civilisation eventually perished because they would rather be the last ones standing with their goal in their hands than lose with their citizens supporting them either way.

Watched the first 3 episodes of the ATLA live action last night, and my general takeaway so far is that the show was done by people who have an appreciation for the original, but not an understanding of it.

okay I am not goign to add this to the replies of the og post bc this isn't even close to what the original post was about but. ough. I keep thinking about this. I'll put this under a read more again because this is just me being strange and depressing about a character and subsequently creating something difficult for the general public to read.

i think the doctor and ryder unintentionally created a situation where lucas would grow up emotionally neglected. like im sure ryder cares about and loves lucas, but his job makes it so he's never around. and while i dont think the doctor is neccesarily abusive,,,, i don't think he'd see lucas as a kid to take care of as much as he sees an assistant for his work, if that makes sense? a robot assistant, but that feels wayyyy too blunt. he doesn't hate lucas, he just kind of wants him to agree with him all the time, as seen in the first game. i don't know.

(plus his deal with you know, being an orphan. which i think was meant to be interpreted as his parents dying, but they don't need to be dead for him to be abandoned, if that makes sense. i dont think his mother would've abandoned him but there is literally nothing in the games about his father)

and of course, being raised in such an environment makes him very very touch starved. maybe without even knowing it. he's "very mature for his age" and yet simultaneously wants to be held and cradled and have someone hold his hand and run their fingers through his hair and wipe away his tears with their knuckles and yet also has this mild primal fear of touch that he can't really fathom. i think when he's touched, either by knack or someone else, that part of his body sort of tingles? if that makes sense? like a lasting impression on what was there. it makes him stop and go. huh.

he craves validation but no one really gives it to him in the amount he needs, or maybe he's just overly needy. i can imagine him wanting to crawl inside someone's ribcage??? not in a violent way or anything (at least as unviolent as a thought like that could be), he just wants to be with someone forever. like a vital organ, kind of. he knows he's not really needed by anyone in order to function (or at least thats what he thinks), but if he's in their body they can't leave!! yippee!!!! (revolting)

i mean i don't think he'd go that far into obessiveness, he's a littol messed up (affectionate) but he would never want to hurt anyone he cares abt. he's like a cat that was weaned too early from its mom so it suckles and kneads on blankets.

and like the thing with him ignoring the pain something causes him in order to still have that comfort auugugghh. knack hugs him a bit too tight and sometimes it leaves bruises but thinking about not being hugged anymore almost brings him to tears. he wants love so badly that he's willing to let himself get hurt to get it. doesn't help that i see lucas as a Child (12 in first game, 14/15 in second).

im a little embarrassed to post this bc its just me being super headcanon-y about lucas but whatever its 1am im seeby ill worry about that later lmao

Aizawa's Fighting Stance (Yakuza 5 SPOILERS)

Not sure if this'll be interesting to anyone else but myself but it's been on my mind ever since I first started studying Masato Aizawa. I hate that I'm only now making a post about it but ugh I thought the desire to ramble about this would die buuuut it never did. So here we are~! lol. Now, forgive me if I do a crappy job at explaining this because I suck at explaining combat shit that's why i don't typically write action (i picked a great series to become obsessed with, i know)

BUT

I think there is a very cool difference in Masa when you first fight him vs when you last fight him as Kiryu. Aside from the obvious (health meter, speed and power behind his attacks), there's something else that's always stood out to me and that's his stance! I knew I'd have a hard time explaining it so I made a couple gifs to go along with this post.

GIF A: In our first gif, you can see that he sways and winds his fists as he skips backward to distance himself from Kiryu before he charges in. His way of swaying (i've always joked that he's dancing ) leaves him pretty vulnerable and open to Kiryu's attacks. I like to think that his stance is less about anticipating Kiryu's next move and more about giving himself space to charge his own attacks since he relies more so on brute force than anything else.

GIF B: In our second gif, he does still sway about and wind his more dominant fist but that habit of his is far more controlled than it was originally. His stance is not nearly as open and although he does allow himself a bit of distance, his charges are much quicker and so are his strikes. In this particular fight Aizawa seems (in my opinion) far less concerned with gaining distance and more so concerned with minimizing Kiryu's openings. He's more likely to keep his arms up than at his side, keeping him more guarded than before.

What does any of this mean? And why does it matter? Either Masato was just dicking around with Kiryu the first time and playing because he knew what damage he could really deal (I mean, this was still the Fourth Chairman and he was still working) OR my guy's training in the shadows was not a fucking joke!

Personally, although I'm fond of both explanations, I'm more partial to the first. But you guys know just how biased I am here so I'll let you make your own conclusions.

Feel sooooo much better about this test. Don't have the grade yet, won't till Monday, but it feels much better.

I'm also sitting at a B- right now which is pretty good considering.

Now we start a more regular schedule of things. Got the homework but it's not due till next Thursday. Obviously I'm gonna start on it asap but I can spread it out more and take better breaks.

Right now I'm taking my first nap in over a week. Zzzzzzz

But also planning a new project for Closed Eyes. Song came on on the drive home and I had a great idea for a comic that can lead into other things. Hopefully...

Now if only I could convince the girls to sing their lines and I could make it an animatic...

(Sorry if this has been asked already) But how is Etho’s brain similar and different to that of a human, like is Etho capable of comprehending emotions and empathy or is his brain wired differently so he can be a perfect predator or is it somewhat of a balance? How is he intellectually and emotionally?

Ethos brain is very similar to that of a human's, he's very capable of empathy as well as a wide range of emotions. His current seeming lack of empathy comes more from his own choices rather than a lack of capability. Etho doesn't abide by any moral code, he's only an onlooker when it comes to human social constructs. He has an understanding of human ethics purely from observation. There's nothing wired in his brain specifically for hunting, his intelligence does play a large part in hunting though, usually prefering to trick or stun prey instead of relying purely on raw strength. Intellectually and emotionally speaking his brain differs very little from a human's. I will say though etho does struggle with emotions, especially labeling them, along with having issues when it comes to tone but he's just autistic to me 🫶 can sea critters be autistic idk doesn't matter

Been on another blocking spree today because the vibes in the tags are rancid so let me just say this real quick:

No one is "getting in the way" of buddie going canon, because buddie is not going to be canon. It's already decided. They floated the idea of a Queer Eddie arc and then dropped it, the same way they dropped the floated Eddie/Maddie storyline in season 2.

This is how writing works. Sometimes you have an idea, you try it out, and it just doesn't work. So you rewrite, you change things around, you change storylines. That is how it works.

There is no singular character or actor "getting in the way" because there's nothing to get in the way of.

You don't have to like Tommy. You don't have to like Lou. You don't have to like this arc at all. But you do not have a leg to fucking stand on when you claim that Lou/Tommy is "in the way" of a ship that is never going to be canon.

And frankly, you lost any and all credibility you could've had when you started wishing violence and death on a queer character and sent hate and death threats to the people involved in bringing that queer character back.

Ship whatever the hell you want, but don't make the mistake of thinking that your headcanons outweigh or control the writers decisions. Fandom is less than 2% of the overall audience. We are not the majority here. All you're doing with your little tantrums online is giving the fandom as a whole a bad name, and making yourselves seem unhinged and dangerous. Is that the reputation you want?

hi im ranting (positively! this game kills me but in a good way) about breath of the wild again

i know it's controversial but i love the way the story of the game is told. because you start the game in the middle, perhaps near the end, of the story. the game is entirely through link's perspective and he wakes up knowing and remembering nothing. in turn, the player starts off knowing nothing. the past is revealed as the story goes along, and the player learns about the past and about the land as link does. there are little tidbits about hyrule and about the calamity scattered across the land. an old woman in hateno village tells you of an age of desolation that she grew up in. the travellers you see on the road are younger people because they're described by older characters as more bold, whereas the older characters grew up being told to never leave the village, it's too dangerous outside (compare this even to tears of the kingdom, where travellers are more common because the land has been safer. even older characters have left their home to travel elsewhere (not including the lurelin villagers)). battlefields are still strewn with old rusty weapons and deactivated guardians that no one but monsters will go near. myths and legends about the princess and hero have been passed down, to the point where their legitmacy is questioned and everyone has a different opinion on them.

it's environmental storytelling. it's things like seeing drawings and a bow in zelda's study and seeing a child reading a storybook with a hero that wears a blue tunic similar to link's. it's the stories that the villagers share about old myths that turn out to be true. it's the ruins scattered across the land, long since overtaken by monster camps but still unmistakably being houses that people once lived in. it's the utter lack of civilization anywhere remotely near the castle and the feeling of dread in the ruins of the town that surrounds it. it's a kingdom entrenched in its past, with no ability to move away from it until the calamity is finally defeated.
