would you mind deleting their scam from your blog, or clearly labeling it as a scam so it doesn't spread to others?
please familiarize yourself with the posts of some current scammers while they are still under these usernames: atomicsmart, smwitais, agneskebwariii, vero0g, beatriceegiveer, luckilyprincesblog, rasher-9, palewolfkittyhaks, luckieangelali, chieffurygiver, weepingtyrantmaker, burningvoidbird, tacofriends
i really recommend looking at their pinned posts in order to better recognize scams, not just using this list as a blocklist, because once they are terminated they each will immediately remake their scams under a new username

Hey so. There's an ask I got from a Gazan looking for funds for their GFM, like I have been getting lately, but under the organizer's name it says "Pompano Beach, FL"... is that a red flag? The GFM is only three days old, and the blog that sent me the ask is only a few hours old... Should I be skeptical? I don't want to assume they're lying...

reblogging because apparently people have taken "dont be born yesterday when it comes to donating to things" & turned it into "it's impossible for real Palestinians to exist on my Cozy Eurocentric Fandom website so they're obviously all EVIL SWINDLING LIARS (butnotforracistreasonsitotallypromise)".
First off, reasonable concern over potential scammers must be rooted less in being worried over someone stealing from YOU, and be more worried about them stealing from PALESTINIANS. Secondly, remember that whomever you align your benefit of the doubt with-- worried about you personally being harmed/ripped off/publicly embarrassed VS. life is always risky but it's important to at least try to do the literal bare fucking minimum of the right thing by reblogging a donation post from suffering human beings whom you have no actual evidence against to claim they're lying-- says almost everything that needs saying about you.
i don't have time to personally vet every dono ask i get so i do rely on sign-offs from a familiar circle of trustworthy-- as far as one can trust any sort of internet stranger-- accounts when i publish the asks i get, which of course isn't fool proof and the lazy obvious scammers from a few months ago have likely learned how to better mimic real palestinians, but at the end of the day, it already feels gross enough having to sniff test people who have lost so much & are so desperate they're resorting to internet panhandling on tumblr dot com, and i'd rather take the risk of possibly getting tricked occasionally while trying to do the right thing than be ultrasuspicious all of the time and never boost anyone ever.

Oh no now the bot accounts are raiding your ask box T_T
(the ones asking for money like c’mon bruh)
fuck off. if any of the gfms ive linked to are fake then lmk immediately w proof and ill take it down, but if ur just complaining you have to look at so many palestinians asking for donations than i hope you realize that 1 im doing that on purpose, right now my blog is getting a lot of traction for a couple different posts and that means a lot of eyes are on my page and 2 that also means that more palestinians who signed up to tumblr to try and crowdfund probably found my page for that reason. right now i feel like the least i can do is answer their asks and share their links but its going to fucking seem like spam if you dont take a second and think about just how many people there are in palestine being brutally martyred disabled poisoned raped and abused just for the crime of being palestinian. i really could care less if you find it annoying because maybe people who just followed me but dont know me can just block me rq or whatever…

please vet the gfm posts you post or reblog yourself and not blindly trust others, for every real one there are five fakes,, please dont give them a platform https://www.tumblr.com/pyrrhiccomedy/757724127189729280/i-am-amira-the-breadwinner-for-my-family-after-my
I do my best trying to verify that fundraisers are legit before i reblog/post anything but i'm not a best person to do that especially when i know only a little arabic and it's MSA and not palestinian dialect. I get on average 15-20 asks a day about boosting fundraisers and i don't post most of them even if they appear to be likely legit because i want to be sure. I don't trust others blindly but i've known and followed many of the people who're verifying fundraisers for several years and i don't have a reason not to trust them. Like the post you linked is complaining about how they don't know who these people vetting are why should we trust them, but they're well-known palestinian users who people generally consider trustworthy.
Aside from that post casually accusing palestinian users trying to help their people of running some massive scam which is frankly really offensive and pretty racist, I don't find the post very convincing in general. Criticizing the writing style of people asking for help is pretty stupid, these people aren't native english speakers and some of them don't really speak english at all, they're trying to express themselves the best they can, probably relying on google translate and other people's help. And of course the try to look and follow the example of what other askers have written in their messages, it doesn't mean it has to be the same person. Op clearly hasn't bothered to look into palestinian users' blogs any closer because even if some of them use the same formats in messages in most cases their actual writing styles/english skill levels etc. are clearly different. Using stock photos/news photos doesn't really mean anything either, they're easier to get access to not only for scammers but for real displaced palestinians. And their blogs often get deleted because people like op are constantly reporting them. And unlike op says iirc Amira actually has social media presence that includes more information like her university. Mohammed has been active on tumblr for months and i've talked with him too, if he's a scammer he's an extremely dedicated one.
I do hope that people notify me if i accidentally reblog a scam post, but i hope that there's more solid proof that it's fake. And i definitely don't buy that palestinian users doing vetting are participating in scams. The op of that post seems to have something specifically against palestinian users and i find op to be untrustworthy. Here's one reblog of the post that puts it much more succinctly than i can

i was writing out my process in the tags, but i decided it would be more helpful to actually lay it out here with links. i understand some of us have really busy lives and are overwhelmed by the number of aid requests we have in our inboxes. if you want to make it easier on yourself--
here are some super simple steps to go through so you can help at least a few people.
get on your computer. open your tumblr inbox in one tab, then these five google sheets pages in other tabs: Vetted Gaza Evacuation List, Operation Olive Branch, Project Watermelon Gaza Family Spreadsheet, The ButterflyEffect Project, B&W Campaigns. These are each carefully organized spreadsheets of vetted fundraisers, by either established vetters on tumblr or elsewhere or by trusted organizations.
in your tumblr inbox, every ask from a palestinian will usually have either a link to their GFM, a link to the post with their story and GFM, or a request to visit their blog to view such a post. open their GFM page, crosscheck the names and the title of the GFM with your spreadsheets with a quick command f. often, a post will specify which person or org vetted them, so you can go straight to that spreadsheet to double check.
great work! you've confirmed the ask you received is real. you can respond to it, you can donate to the gfm if you like or can afford to, you can reblog the post sharing their story. the whole process usually takes about five minutes max per ask.
here are some extra steps that will take longer, if you have the time and want to double check an ask you weren't able to find on a spreadsheet, or determine if something is spam so you can delete it.
go through the person's blog and the reblogs on their post. sometimes a vetter like 90-ghost will have simply reblogged and signal boosted the post, verifying they vetted it, but it will not have made it onto one of the spreadsheets.
the more you do this, the more you'll come to recognize the names of trusted vetters, and be able to accomplish this checking more quickly. be careful, because sometimes a post will claim "has been vetted by so-and-so," and when you go to that persons profile they'll say "not personally vetting posts." that doesnt mean the ask you got is spam––it might mean that the person who made the post didnt realize when they were signal boosted by an active pro-palestine blogger that it wasnt the same as being vetted. most of these are real. you don't have to share those you can't verify, but don't automatically condemn them as spam. if you're unsure, just delete them out of your inbox and move on.
if you have email alerts turned on for your asks, and are a person who mostly receives asks from palestinians these days (certainly true for me), you can search your email easier than your tumblr inbox to identify people that have changed their usernames multiple times but sent the same ask, or asks youve received from the same username with various GFMs or names attached. these are most likely to be spam, and if you can identify the accounts doing this pretty easily you can then clear a bunch of fake asks out of your inbox at once to focus on the ones that need help. this kind of checking is tedious, but useful
to avoid burnout: most of us want to help as much as we can, but being burned out on tragedy is real. its better to help a little than to ignore it entirely. if you cant manage to work through your asks, you can ignore your inbox, and just pick a couple fundraisers off of the vetted spreadsheets to donate a few bucks to when you can. personally, instead of trying to check them all as they come in, i try to put aside an hour every week or every few days to go through as many of the asks in my inbox as i can. you can also try to verify just one each day instead of spending large chunks of time going through GFMs and personal stories. you can reblog posts from friends who have already checked the fundraisers theyre sharing, or posts of "daily vetted fundraisers." you dont have to share what ways you're helping, or how big or how small it is, if you dont want to. mutual aid isn't a competition. but even a little assistance to a few families is better than feeling so overwhelmed by the magnitude of the genocide that you dont help at all.
There's this really cool thing that a handful of diaspora Palestinians have committed a lot of time and effort to called vetting (maybe you've heard of it?) in which they speak directly with a fundraiser holder face-to-face or over phone/video call to verify all portions of a fundraiser. There are so many posts [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] that talk about the details of this process to verify that a fundraiser organizer, recipient, and the details are correct by verifying legal documents like proof of residence, photo ID, fluency in Palestinian-Dialect Arabic, family tree constructions, etc.
These vetters have been posting about Palestinian/Gaza/Arab culture/Islam/etc. for a really long time, [1] [2] [3] (these are Wayback machine links to the tumblr accounts of 90-ghost, el-shab-hussein, & nabulsi before you start crying "but, you can post backdate on tumblr!") [4] (moayesh's Instagram because his tumblr is fairly new) meaning that they didn't just pop up after Oct 2023 to start posing as a qualified individual. They are real diaspora Palestinians with stories to tell and culture to share.
GFM also has strict requirements for withdrawing money, needing evidence of a bank account from a country they service and a solid way to transfer funds from that bank account to the recipient's bank account. If the funds are withheld from the intended recipient, that can be reported to and resolved by GFM.
If you're too overwhelmed by trying to distinguish between scams and real fundraisers, then whatever. That's your problem, not everyone else's. You don't need to publicly announce to everyone that you're too busy/tired/incompetent/ignorant to properly investigate fundraisers, so everyone else should stop supporting them as well. There are plenty of vetters and scam-busting blogs dedicated to helping people distinguish between real and fake.
Donating to established nonprofit aid organizations is absolutely a good deed and is much more straightforward, but it's not the only way to help. Especially with the repeated aid blockages, sometimes Ghazan families need a more direct flow of money to pay for the ridiculously inflated cost necessities (I recently received a video from Farah wherein she states that a bottle of dish soap cost $50. $50!!!!) as well as save up for evacuation costs once the Egyptian border crossing opens. (Thousands of dollars!)
With a few minor parts removed, here is a copy/pasted text that was originally in a reblog but now in its own post since the original account is gone. Links that didn’t work anymore have been left out. I figured it’d be useful for anyone who needs it.

Hi nnot the kind of post we'd make but I just wanted to shout this out: WE DO NOT ACCEPT FUNDRAISER ASKS. please. don't send us them.
we have no money
we dont like the guilttripping or just the sob stories cause they make us feel genuinely triggered or extremely guilty. and we are NOT in a mental & emotional condition that can handle that. ALSO WE ARE BODILY PALI, WHICH MAKES MOST OF THE GFM ASKS MORE EMOTIONALLY AND MENTALLY EXHAUSTING TO READ THROUGH!!!
we are a minor.
our blog is not popular. we will not help you reach thousands.
we cannot tell legit asks from fake ones and GENUINELY DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR RESOURCES TO CHECK.
it brings our mood down so much when all the asks we get are just gfm asks instead of genuine interaction from people.
I get on tumblr to escape reality and to cope. seeing gfm asks makes me very uncomfortable in what is supposed to be a safe place for me.
If you send a donation ask i am going to delete it immediately. I have boundaries that should be respected.

Some humans disgust me. The fact I have to cross-check gfms to see if they're scammers is fucking foul. Why would anyone think faking to be victim of GENOCIDE is an okay way to get money??? I understand some people feel embarrassed asking for financial help, but pretending to be Palestinian to get money from people is gross and unforgivable.
For all the people who verify gfms, thank you, but the fact you even have to do that is just sad.
It infuriates me.

i saw that fundraiser where one of the photos on the gfm page is from a 2015 article again on a list of fundraisers but i dont know what to do with this information.. because i guess there could be a scenario where someone legitimate just looked up some photo of the destruction to use on their page even if it's kinda far-fetched but i dont want to falsely accuse someone in such a dire situation... but if it's fake i also dont want donations to go to a fake page instead of the people who need them. i also dont trust ppl enough to not take the suggestion that one of the fundraisers might not be legitimate as a way to claim they're all fake..

i believe this was proven to be fake to get to their gfm goal. their friends exposed them, and they didn't know. Pls dont send any hate to their friends, who were worried and are receiving d**th threats. and i believe they posted an apology earlier today before deleting it
🆘tw: kidnapping, possible transphobia🆘
I know a lot of you dont have twitter but this is so important and needs to be shared
Sai is a young black trans person who posted on their story saying theyve been kidnapped by a latino man in their 40-50s whos about 5’10 in cincinnati Ohio. Please please boost this to raise awareness. Here is a photo ID of Sai of reference.
They’ve posted that they’re okay but we have no proof that they’re not being held at gun point as a lot of suspicious activity is happening (location stopped sharing, social media being deactivated, the video looks forced, ect) please boost
