Ok, here we go twd series finale review, very long i'm afraid

Things i liked:

- The fact that basically everyone survived (except Rosita but im gonna talk abt her) and had a happy ending (except Caryl but im gonna talk abt them in a separate post). I was expecting more deaths, which in retrospective was naive of me cause Twd has always done that, one big death in a finale or even in half a season, thats all. And considering Caryl's ending, having everyone else, or almost, happy is a balm for my heart. Some people are probably thinking that there wasnt enough death, but im more than ok with that. I was sooo freaking worried for Aaron, Gabriel and Eugene particularly that the relief was immense.

- Rosita's emotional scenes with Eugene. Not once in season 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8, could have i imagine things ending like that between them. Not once have i imagined back then the possibility of seing these two saying to each other how much they loved each other.

Contrary to a then popular belief, i always knew she cared abt him deeply: please go see her reaction when he's taken by Negan instead of her in 7.08, she's litteraly losing it. And her anger at him and "determination" with Daryl to "kill him" (pff, yeah, right) in s8 only shows how much she was hurt by his actions. They grew closer after the time jump in s9 and were basically bff by then even if he still was in love with her and had to be reminded later that no, it would not happen. So while im not surprised abt the love they had for each other, im actually amazed they said it outloud, like whaoh, because if there is one relationship in this show that hasn't been ruined but on the contrary has totally improved over the course of the last seasons, it's them. Their scenes in those last episodes were magnificent, and the finale was no exception. They have come such a long way. I bawled like a baby.

The highlight of this moment: "im glad it was you in the end". Excuse me? 🤧😭😭😭

- Rosita and Gabriel: at first it felt underwhelming, like he didnt show many emotions. Not when he learnt the news, that i could understand, he was in shock and it was actually such a fucking beautiful scene... but then, he prayed for her, and at first i thought could u pleaaaase drop the priest act and be the former boyfriend/the father of her child that she needs before dying (i dont care that Coco's not his biological child, and that they were broken up by now, he IS her father. And i loved Siddiq, but u get my point). But then i understood. He was on the verge of crying while praying, and tried to be strong and keep it together for her and Coco. He had to take care of Coco, having Rosita saying goodbye to her and then taking her away before the turn... Acting like a priest and a father, and not the man who loved her probably helped him stay grounded in this. I have no doubt that he lost it and ugly cried for hours in private alone in his room, off screen.

The highlight of this moment: "we will see you again someday". I'm not okay. I'M NOT OKAY😭😭

- Daryl being there for Rosita in a subtle, discreet and moving way. They did share a significant amount of scenes together over the course of the show ( ex: both kidnapping Eugene in s8, both trying to save him in s11c, kind of "funny" in a way) so it made sense that he was there.

- Rosita's goodbye with Carol and Maggie. The OG being there for one of the OG (Rosita is to me by now, in a sense). I wish we have had more scenes between them three..

- The fact that we didnt see who got to take her down before turning. It was not Gabriel who was with Coco. We can assume it was Eugene, and it is fitting, but who knows: Daryl was still behind them. Maybe Eugene could not do it, since he was so emotional, and maybe Daryl did it (a la Dale and Rick, remember? He would be the kind of guys to do this). I loved that we could interpret it the way we wanted.

- The music. It was awfully beautiful the whole episode, and i might go back on this for my specific post about Caryl for example, but the whole music post time jump especially was heart breaking. And then can we talk about.. Landslide?? LANDSLIDE GUYS? Really?? 😭😭😭 This song makes me cry no matter what so you can imagine... in a scene who reminds us of the s7 dinner scene?? And also the one in s1... Please😭🤧 (oh, Yumiko's toast to Luke also reminded me about Abe's speech "to the survivors! " in the church in s5...💔)

- The "we're the ones who live" montage. I loved the first montage too especially since we got to see almost all the people we lost, but the dialogue/monologues of Richonne were too cheesy for me. I would not have minded "cheesy" for a reunion between them or between Rickyl or between him and the kids, him and Carol, etc... but for something that sets the spin off and isnt final, it didnt work out for me (also, since we're paying tribute to the dead in this montage: Sophia and Merle were missing. Hell, they could even have added Jim and Jacquie, Amy.....

But i did like that Sasha was put beside Maggie and Tyreese beside Carol, it was fitting in a way that i cant describe).

A simple line like "we're the ones who live" repeated by everyone made a bigger impact on me than their inner monologue in the first montage. Just my opinion, obviously. And we got to hear Morgan too: the "Morganite" in me kept saying please show him, please show him, please show him... So i obviously screamed when it happened. And hey, we even got a glimpse/nano second of Dwight too!

On a side note, i was soo happy we got more of Richonne than what i thought we would get, aka 2 sec as a post credit. I loved that it was in the actual episode and that it was quite long!

- Seeing Rick again. I loved seeing Michonne too, but i was simply a wreck to be able to get to see him, simply see him, and hear him again. Not because i love him more, but because he left earlier i guess. The wait was longer. Also, not my dumbass realising on a second rewatch only that their timelines were different🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️ (he had the phone, she had the phone... He threw the bag that she found later in the boat just before beeing taken back..)

Plus the line "Consignee Grimes..." with the look on his face, desesperate but determined, and the music behind... gave me so many chills omfg

- Luke's death. Didnt like that he died obviously, but the acting...the acting... it was so good and so poignant, it broke me

- Yumiko and Magna, while i didnt really actually care about them, i have to admit that seing them back together was nice amongst the chaos, and yumiko has been a bad ass with the whole Eugene situation these last episodes

- Princess living her best life at the end with Mercer just like i wanted, her being the bad ass that she is saving her man

- Eugene getting the freaking happiness he deserves, with baby Rosie (💔) and Max

- Zeke and Daryl's hug at the end. After everything, that was nice

- the callbacks: Daryl protecting Judith in her hospital room the same way Shane did with Rick... Giving her his blood just like Rick with Carl... Gabriel opening the gates after refusing to do so to his parishioners when we were untroduced to him... oh my💔 (i was sooo sure he was gonna die here and then by the way... as in coming full circle sacrifice u know... i stopped breathing)

- "At least we dont have to worry about who will get your house" "we already had to make an ugly decision: we kept u alive" KABOOOOOOOOOM CAROL MY HERO

Things that bothered me:

- well, caryl, though not surprising, but its for a separate post because there are still things that i liked, and things that i obviously didnt in this whole mess

- Negan and Maggie talk: I wish this particular talk had been saved for the spin off, so that we could have focused on having last moments with the other two people who were supposed to have a spin off together but ended up separated, u know, couch couch. That said, it was still a beautiful scene: of course she doesnt forgive him, of course she remembers how he laughed while killing Glenn, how Glenn called for her ("i'll find you"💔), and the fact that she still acknowledges he's trying and how she is grateful he saved Herschel Jr's life is more than enough and it would not have been realistic to have her forgive him. Now, we'll see i guess what happens in their spin off...

- i LOVE Glenn, but i would also have loved for Negan to remember that he killed Abraham too (not even talking abt all the things he did because thats not the point i want to make). He didnt have any scenes with Rosita, or Eugene, to be able to do that, but it really didnt seat well with me. And i wanted so bad for Eugene to mention Abe while Rosita was dying, saying something like "say hello to the big bad red- haired bad ass we all miss over here" well maybe not like that because cringe and clumpsy, but i dont know, something, anything, a simple mention for fook's sake. But he still was in the first montage, thankfully.

- Merle beeing, again, mentioned only for the bad things he did. I know he was NO angel, but if we can move forward when it comes to Negan we certainly can when it comes to Merle, who had no real time to be fully developped a la negan but still redeemed himself releasing Michonne and trying to take down the governor by himself, all because, believe it or not, he loved Daryl. So each time he's mentioned, and its rare, its actually to say things like "he would have been Negan" (back in s7 i think or 8, Daryl said that to Tara) which in my opinion is not true (s1 Merle? Probably. But the Merle who tried to kill the governor? Absolutely no. By then, he would have stood up to Negan a la Abraham i think. Especially if Daryl's safety was involved.). Or to say " he made me sell my blood for drugs". Great. We soo needed to know that. I get that Daryl probably have very actual few good memories of Merle (hopefully when they were very little at last), but lets not act like he didnt love him, didnt lose it when he learnt that Rick abandonned him on the roof, didnt cry his heart out when he died (the first time we actually saw Daryl cry i believe), didnt want Merle to try be part of the group... ("I just want my brother back.. " Remember?) No, instead, lets just bring again how shitty he could be and not acknowledge his sacrifice, despite how we keep saying in this show that we're remembered for the last thing we did, hence why its important etc. And believe me, i hated him at first like everyone else. But it seems unfair to me. I would have prefered no mention at all.

- also, how it was just an excuse to explain conveniently that Daryl is an universal donor, when it comes to blood... who knows if learning this in earlier seasons could have been helpful 🤣🙄🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

- "To Luke", yeah... and to Jules too i guess? Although her grave/stone was shown later along his, and i get that she wasnt as developped as him (and he wasnt even greatly developped himself..) but still?

- Daryl's reaction to THE Rick news: i waited one full season for this? I get that at first he thinks Judith's kind of dizzy and not thinking clear (and he did have a "shocked" look for 2 sec) but when she then confirms it, what do we have? "Is this true ? Yeah? Well im not going anywhere" (!!?). Then he stays for a full more year indeed (!!?) and then he leaves, but while eveyone seems to assume in the comments/reactions i've seen that he goes looking for Rick/Michonne, i took it as "im following Maggie's advice to go explore and oh Jude by the way if i come across them i'll bring them back". IF, he says, not "im gonna look for them". All this coming from a man who looked for Rick's body for years, so much that Carol had to check on him worried as fuck on a very regular basis to make sure he was ok. Yep. I dont know, maybe i missed something?

big post abt a bunch of my twilight-centric aus (i have lots more that arent about twilight hahah) along with her partner in each au bc i dont want to draw and describe the entire cast of each one rn. also the designs here arent “final” or anything, just what comes to mind when i draw them usually. ok

1. basic au

this ones pretty close to canon and its the one i draw/reference most often. there are minor changes to events in the show (ex. chrysalis gets reformed, starswirl becomes a villain, etc) but its basically the same, especially when it comes to the actual characters! not much to say about this one! pinkie and twilight get married sometime before the finale

2. starryverse au

my most cherished au... i could go on forever about this one!! this au is a “reboot” type thing— all the characters have new names, different designs, and altered personalities and roles. twilight twinkle is a pony created by princess solstice out of pure magic (although twilight doesnt know that). i would write many essays about this if i could so ill Not do that right now... twilight twinkle is very eager to make friends but is pretty bad at it. rose quartz pie (aka rosie pie) becomes her first friend and from then on, twilight has a silly puppy love crush on her that eventually becomes mutual love. rosie pie is an energetic and empathetic baker who specializes in baking party treats.

3. swap au

all the mane 6 ponies are different types of ponies now! ta daaaaa! twilight is an earth pony specializing in potion magic, and pinkie is a party planner who has REALLY weak magic when it comes to anything but chaos and parties. fluttershy is a super strong earth pony who is kind of afraid of her own strength—however, it gives her an advantage when dealing with large or dangerous animals. rainbow dash is a unicorn with the dream of becoming the first-ever unicorn wonderbolt, using her special magic that allows her to run on air. rarity is a pegasus who loves making artistic weather patterns, though these arent always very effective at... weather. she also makes beautiful aerodynamic clothing. applejack is also a pegasus, and feels out of place among her earth pony family. (the secret twist is that her mom was a pegasus! wowww!) she makes special apple treats made from the best apples at the top of the trees, which only she can reach.

4. ascension au

in this au, all of the mane 6 become alicorns and live together and love each other forever and ever YAY

5. time travel au

in this au, twilight accidentally travelled back in time as a teenager to a time before luna was corrupted by nightmare moon. she didnt know about luna, as she was kept a secret by celestia in the present. she and luna fell in love, and had twilight stayed, luna probably wouldnt have become corrupted, since she wouldve had someone who appreciated and believed in her. however, twilight was eventually transported back to the present, thanks to her family finding a spell to bring her back. after learning ehat eventually happened to luna, twilight began trying to create a spell that would free her from the moon. in this au twilight would temporarily be a “villain”

6. basically just canon

in this universe pretty much nothing from canon is changed besides designs. the only thing changed is that instead of “spreading the word of the storm kings defeat” (lol?? thats what magic is for) tempest becomes twilights personal guard. (seriously, why do all the other princesses get guards?)

7. starlight glimmer fucking dies au

ok kidding she doesnt die she just never gets redeemed... instead the “seventh mane 6 member” is luna! after lunas return, she is sent to live in ponyville (because, like, theres NO way she was ready to just. rule equestria) luna is super powered down, out of fear that she could become corrupted again. some of her power is stored in the moon pendant she wears, in case she needs it in an emergency! luna becomes great friends with all of the main characters... i have ideas on how she’d get along with each one heheh! but her dearest friend is twilight sparkle... they just understand each other in a way nopony else can!

anyway ya theres all my silly aus... im very in love with all of them so ask me about them/any characters in them and ill gladly tell u

Helloo! I hope you are doing fine <3.I would like to ask for a creepypasta match-up (romantic relationship) please! I am A Campaigner (ENFP) and The Adorner (EFVL) and 7w6 (The Pathfinder) I am 159 cm. Female amd straight! So I picked Jeff mainly because this man always stays up and wouldn't hesitate a single moment to stay up studying literally anything with you! And also because he likes how you're independent and fight for the people you care for. He really admires that in a person. But he still tries to spend a lot of time with you even though you're really independent he feels like he gets withdrawal.

Since you're afraid of wasps and bees he'd basically try to just beat the shit out of any of them that come near you. He personally doesn't mind them but he just wants you to feel safe.

Jeff is very big on the idea of loving yourself, so when you're feeling bad about how you look he won't hesitate at all to reassure you that you're beautiful and gorgeous to him no matter how you look. I mean come on, this man has a smile cut into his face. But he's still very beautiful. So he tries his very best to make you feel good about yourself because he was also like that and he also used to hate how he looked, and he doesn't want you to feel that way.

He loves that you're brutally honest because, well, he's also very brutally honest and hates people that keep too many secrets or people that lie to him about things. You being honest reassures him that he can trust you, and he doesn't have that with many people. He also enjoys watching you debate with others and will join in if he actually understands the topic, although Jeff has a bit of an ego and would have a hard time accepting he's wrong in a debate.

He's not very interested in languages but he would be interested in you speaking other languages, he also finds it cool how you just change from one language to another and he would probably even ask you to help him learn it so that he can speak it with you. Jeff is a very tall boi. I canon him to be like, 6'1 or so? That's tall to me, at least. Jeff loooves spending time with you, it's one of this favorite things ever and he's also pretty rebellious so get ready for him to ditch Slenderman to go hang out with you.

He also doesn't like people that waste his time, he can be pretty impatient and especially if they're bothering you and taking your attention away from him, he's gonna have even more of a problem. You'd probably have to stop him from throwing hands tbh, mans has mad anger issues. Jeff also likes physical touch, but only when it's with someone he trusts so once he trusts you, you can bet you'll be getting lots and lots of hugs and cuddles when the two of you are in private. He's not very good at PDA because of his ego.

I love your post that has lines from different media pieces that fit Itafushi really well and I was wondering if you’ve read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Because I cannot stop comparing Achilles and Patroclus with Megumi and Itadori.

yes! i do read tsoa!! makes me insane just thinking about it. listen. where should i even begin. at first, i was thinking megumi as achilles, simply bc he’s from a renowned clan, simply bc he was the one who said to patroclus when they heard about possibly joining the trojan war, “if you have to go, you know i will go with you.” and the fact that achilles only ever looks at patroclus, he does not care about anyone else. when patroclus died, red is all he sees. with patroclus gone, he does not care about the war anymore. it is only hector that he seeks. and that kind of violent rage, i can see that it can(?) stem out of megumi. and how he tried to fight sukuna to bring yuuji back in ep 5.

but after contemplating it much further, ur right as well. yuuji is achilles, and megumi patroclus. the violent devotion patroclus has for achilles mirrors what megumi has for yuuji. and the fact that yuuji, the boy that megumi loves, is on borrowed time too. when patroclus heard about the prophecy, about how achilles would die by the end, he was so grief-stricken and tried to stop him from danger etc and it reminds me, of how yuuji swallowed the first finger and megumi was all, “pls save him. its my personal feelings.” and on the first meeting too. like how big of an impact that was. its crazy to even think about it.

you have the big quotes that i equate with them as per the book! but also here’s my other favorites:

1) “[...] and i thought of how many nights i had lain awake in this room loving him in silence.”

2) “when he died, all things swift and beautiful and bright would be buried with him.”

3) “how much longer will he live?” “why? would u prepare urself for it? try to stop it?” “yes, if i can. please. please tell me.”

4) “in the huge hall, his beauty shone like a flame, vital and bright, drawing my eyes against my will.”

5) “and perhaps, it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another one is gone.”

6) “i would not care. whatever u became. it would not matter to me. we would be together.”

the one theme i absolutely adore about itafushi is: the act of choosing. and how again, it mirrors achilles and patroclus. if patroclus cowers against thetis, he would leave achilles be. but he is afraid still, and he loves achilles fiercely, still. and how megumi knows now that sukuna might do sth to him, might harm him, but he still wants to stay beside yuuji, knowing any possible implications that it will bring. despite the catastrophe happened in shibuya, he chose to stay with yuuji, still. he chose yuuji, still. megumi knows and megumi trusts that yuuji himself wont ever hurt him. and can you even love someone u dont trust? megumi, megumi doesnt have to be a healer like shoko to heal / soothe yuuji’s heart, he does it anyway. i was so glad that after their reunion (chap 143 onwards), yuuji was himself again. megumi has a big impact on yuuji as much as yuuji on megumi. and thats just so lovely, isnt it?

After rereading this multiple times I feel like I made the right decision, so therefore I match you with. . . . . . .

|Hoodie/Brian!!|

Brian would 100% study with you and help you understand things, even if you didn’t need help with, he’s a pretty smart man.

Man runs off of coffee, you two would be a couple of caffeine addicts but in a cute way. Would pour you cute shit like hearts or swirls in your coffee with the creamer or powder.

He would try to get you to overcome your fears and phobias, he wants to make sure you know he’s there for you and wants to help you. step-by-step he’s there to guide you down your path of success.

Constantly reassuring you about how beautiful you are, he understands body dysmorphia because he himself has it. Hates his face, that’s why he usually keeps the ski mask on. Overtime as he opened up to you though he felt comfortable enough to take it off.

Brian himself is an honest man, he usually keeps to himself though. You two balance each other out, he isn’t very stubborn but he is pretty smart. Is very laid back until you piss him off, even then he’s pretty calm.

I DO IN FACT HAVE DRAMA RECS HII not all of these will be kdramas, but ill start with the kdramas ive watched and enjoyed and ill include all the warnings for them that i can remember off the top of my head and a brief synopsis for u!

kdramas-

1. weight lifting fairy kim bok joo

this was probably one of the first kdramas i saw people post about in like 2015 and i watched a little bit of it in 2016 but then only just got around to finishing it last year. the basic gist of it is its about a young sports college weight lifter, kim bok joo, centering around her navigating through her life and trying to figure out who she is and what she wants in life and what she wants to be. her romantic interest in the show is a swimmer and they have a sort of rivals to friends to lovers, he is SO in love with her and its adorable. i absolutely loved the side characters in this show theyre all so fun and kim bok joos best friends and weight lifting team are especially delightful. my main warning would be that this show addresses eating disorders and theres a lot of mention of both weight gain and weight loss, theres also a plot point early on where kim bok joo has a crush on her eventual love interests older brother but it gets resolved and the older brother literally goes "i didnt realize you had a crush on me and if i knew that i wouldnt have been so friendly with you, it would be completely innapropriate for us to be in a relationship". overall its a really sweet and emotional fun show but if you have issues with weight talk id skip this one

2. tale of the nine tailed

this one is really recent from last year and i didnt expect to be so hooked by it but boy howdy did i get attached to all the characters and the wild plot. it feels hard to explain the plot but basically a nine tailed fox named lee yeon is living in modern day seoul and is working for the underworld finding paranormal spirits/creatures/other rogue foxes that are causing havoc on the world, hes resigned himself to living this life while waiting for his girlfriend who died tragically 600 years ago to come back to life because he traded his status as a mountain god in order to ensure that her soul would one day be reincarnated. a plucky investigative journalist named nam ji ah figures out that hes not human and shenanagins ensue because she looks exactly like his dead girlfriend oooooo whatll happen. the plot beyond that gets really wild and its hard to explain and is easier to just watch. if u enjoy paranormal adventures this one is good. my one big complaint and issue with this is that the immortal mountain spirit meets his original girlfriend when shes a child and she continues to visit him off and on as she grows up which is Hm I Dont Like That! but thankfully the present time romance our female lead meets him when shes about 30 if im remembering right. also warnings for general fantasy violence, references to child abuse, animal death, and abandonment issues

3. extraordinary you

HUGE unreality warning for this. if you have issues with feeling unreal or have paranoia/delusions about not being a real person id avoid this one just because of its premise

ok i know i said tale of the nine tailed was a hard plot to explain but BOY extraordinary you is even HARDER to explain. because its so wild but so good. its about a girl who realizes that she is literally a side character in a comic book, and the story becomes her trying to change the story to save her character from dying but it becomes a lot more than that. the romance in this is literally tooth achingly sweet and the show itself is very pretty, i loved the side characters in this one and the show was engaging and interesting to watch it became really layered and meta. super reccomend this one honestly. my main issues/warnings that i can remember off the top of my head were just one character being the classic controlling boyfriend stereotype, bullying someone specifically for being poor, unreality like i mentioned before, and then at the very end there was this love interest for a side character who got reincarnated from a past piece of writing that they had been in and put in the comic but she was a student and he was the school cook which is weird but thankfully they like barely interact at all and theres no real romance he just like recognizes her and its barely a thing at the end of the show but its still weird

4. mystic pop up bar

big warning for suicide, sexual harrasment (which is framed as being bad and the guy whos harrassing the girl literally gets thrown off a roof)

i havent finished this one yet and thats mainly because im not emotionally ready because this one makes me soooo emotional. if you like found family this is a good one. its about a pop up bar run by a woman whos been tasked with solving the problems of a certain amount of people in order to atone for her crimes in the past before dying, shes able to enter the dreams of people and solve their issues using the information she gets in the dreams. paranormal shenanagins ensue, she acquires a son and a husband and it kills me its so fun and quirky and fun despite handling dark themes and peoples problems. also very sweet the found family murders me

5. kingdom (netflix original)

i literally am not going to be able to watch any other zombie media because kingdom and train to busan are the best pieces of zombie media ive ever seen. warnings for gore and violence and just general horror aspects.

i absolutely love this one its so thrilling and well done, i love the acting and the way that this show looks its absolutely gorgeous. a zombie plague breaks out in joseon period korea where the emperor has died and then was brought back to life by the queen and her father in a ploy to try and keep their family in political power, the crown prince must find answers. a lot more happens and its very dramatic and good i love the characters in this one

cdramas

1. the untamed. if you follow me and you havent watched the untamed im begging you to watch the untamed. literally one of the most beautiful stories ive experienced in my life i am not joking when i say i cried multiple times over it. the main characters are canonically gay in love and have a son together please watch the untamed. handles a lot of dark themes, heres a tw guide

2. the sleuth of the ming dynasty

this is another one i havent finished but its fun so far, very gay, found family, food, and solving murder mysteries during the ming dynasty

3. hikaru no go (also known as qi hun)

havent finished this one, there is some propaganda about hong kong in the first episode but as far as i know thats the only instance of something like that in the show

this ones about the game go and so far its very sweet and fun, local boy awakens a ghost who was a master of the game of go hundreds of years ago and eventually is persuaded to learn how to play go with the aid of the ghost. im really liking this one so far its very cute and i love the characters in it. if youve watched the untamed nie huaisangs actor ji li is in this one!

4. the legend of yunqian

this ones very short and on youtube, all the episodes are about 5 minutes long and its a lesbian time travel fantasy adventure with a happy ending! funny and cute

jdramas

1. cherry magic

please please please watch cherry magic. the premise sounds very much like a weird yaoi kind of thing but trust me on this. trust me. it is so heart warming and sweet and i was so emotional about it and the growth of the main character.

adachi gains the power to read peoples minds on his 30th birthday based off a urban legend that if youre a 30 year old virgin that youll become a wizard. after gaining this power he accidentally finds out that his extremely popular and handsome coworker has a crush on him, and shenanagins ensue along with adachi having blossoming feelings in return. this show was really refreshing in a lot of ways, adachi is a main character who like.. is unsure of himself and insecure in a very kind of realistic way, he closes himself off and is afraid to reach out to people and through the course of the show we see him slowly come out of his shell and realize that hes likeable and lovable and that people want to be around him and its so nice to see. my main complaint about this show is that i dont really like the background couple, but otherwise this is a very sweet and refreshing gay romance that has a happy ending!

some others that i myself havent seen but that ive seen people talk about a lot and that i want to watch eventually:

- the legend of fei (cdrama)

- the wolf (cdrama)

- gaurdian (cdrama, not the kdrama one called goblin)

- healer (kdrama, i did watch some of this one but it was in 2016 and i never finished it so i barely remember any of it but i do remember liking it)

- its ok to not be ok (kdrama)

here’s me compiling all of my thoughts on episode 1 of season 8!! or at least the thoughts i deemed important enough lmao. big focus on jonsa, political jon, and the starks in general.

under the cut for SPOILERS + length.

shout out to all of the amazing content creators out there who have already gif’d this episode. ya’ll are amazing!

anyways, here we go! ps. things could be out of chronological order, sorry lol

lets jump right in with dany and jon arriving at winterfell. i really enjoyed the call back to season 1 bran scrambling up as high as he could to watch robert baratheon & company arrive.

we have them riding in among dany’s army, looking quite like the royal “couple” they want us to believe they are. dany doesnt look particularly interested to even be there and i think it’s because she’s upset at how everyone is looking at her. jon reminds her that the north isnt easy to impress, that they dont look kindly at foreigners. this isnt pleasing to her. dany has to be loved, by everyone. she cant stand thinking not everyone is on her side. in her mind they have to support her because she’s the queen.

but she’s not queen, not yet at least.

next comes the dragons.

the northerners run, some screaming in fear, others just stumbling in an attempt to find shelter from the dragons that fly overhead. and just look at dany’s face. look at her! what a smug little smile, i hope she enjoys it because she’s got a lot coming to her this season.

i hate this, i just want everyone to know. i still like dany but this arrogant, mocking girl is driving me insane and it’s only episode 1. what little bit of likeness i had for her will fade real fast at this rate. she’s glad the people fear her dragons and thus fear her. she knows the northerners probably will never come around to her and bend so she’s going to get them on her side the only way she knows how: her dragons.

lets be real- dany has nothing on her own. she’s nothing but a pretty face with a cold heart capable of dark, brutal things. but what if there werent any dragons? what would she be without them? who would fear her then? sure, she’s got a big ass army... but armies can be beaten. armies can be led astray by their own leaders doing. so yeah, she’s got an army but in the end, thats not foolproof. but dragons? those are pretty damn foolproof (unless you send your ~romantic interest~ off on a suicide mission that ends up costing you one of said dragons). she’s going to try and coerce everyone in the north through fear and it might work on the common folk, but wait til she meets the Starks.

yeah, do these girls look afraid?

not at all.

youre a man. almost.

i low key teared up at their reunion. it was sweet. plus it was nice to see bran in a more human moment. he’s always so robotic, i thought it was nice to hear him joke a little.

as jon is looking at bran, you can see the moment he realizes sansa is looking at him. he pulls back from bran and turns to her (wow she looks beautiful, i cant even get over that).

sansa opens her arms to jon and i have to admit... the hug felt almost lackluster... at first. once i watched it a second and third time, i started seeing the things i didnt see the first time.

for one thing- it was so amazing in the trailer because we could see jon’s face. kit is so incredible at his facial expressions and you knew exactly what jon was feeling the moment he saw sansa. with sansa, she’s very subdued- but its definitely done on purpose. obviously, she’s happy to see jon but she’s angry with him too. and dozens of people are there watching them, including this queen he’s brought with him. she has to be careful.

this instant, ever since i saw the trailer, ive thought jon whispered something to her. that’s why her eyes immediately flick up and pin their focus on dany who is standing just across the courtyard. we dont hear jon say anything but that doesnt mean he doesnt. what i find interesting about this is how in the episode, we’re shown sansa’s face and her emotional reactions to whats happening, but we dont see jon’s. in the trailer, it cuts to sansa’s eyes as soon as jon reaches her embrace, so we never see jon’s face in this scene. meaning, we dont see his lips ever move. i still want to believe he whispers something to her, but i almost feel like sansa would have referenced it later in the episode when they speak privately. but, you never know!

next we have jon introducing sansa to dany, which as we all suspected, did not go well.

as dany walks up, she’s smiling, her tone charming. her eyes are wide and she looks soft- she’s good at this. notice how no one in the courtyard moves, no one kneels or even bows in dany’s presence as they had once done for robert baratheon. this is not their queen.

i literally laughed as dany said this.

she’s trying desperately to come across as likable. she knows most of the north won’t bow to her without the backing of this girl and while she has her dragons to instill fear, she probably does want sansa to like her. she’s in love with her “brother” after all. they’d be sisters, so they should get along, right?

wrong.

sansa sees right through her. she’s good at finding a liar- she’s spent her whole life around them. learning from them, the best of them. you cant lie or manipulate sansa stark. not anymore.

whew boy, that’s the face of someone who’s pissed. how quickly she changes!! as soon as sansa speaks, she loses her smile and blinks and she breathes in. she’s trying to restrain herself and keep a calm, cool composure. but its written all over dany’s face here- she’s not happy.

again, im reminded that this is a woman who cant be told no and who doesnt like when someone isnt falling over themselves to please her. sansa is clearly not impressed with dany and she’s not afraid to let her know that. she’s calm, polite, but her tone & face says everything her words cant.

bran interrupting was great.

he sees what’s going on here and he’s right, now isnt the time for a little cat fight. he tells them that the night king has a dragon & dany’s reaction is clear she didn’t know that yet (right? i could be forgetting lol) & basically there’s like 100 other things they need to think about right then. which to be fair is totally true. but i had hoped to see a little more between sansa & dany. what i loved though was jon didn’t look at dany when bran mentioned the night king having her dragon, he looked at sansa.

now i wanna talk about arya and jon’s reunion because

well... i have feelings.

while the initial reunion was really sweet & had me crying, it ended real quick

this scene is where i really noticed jon was “off”

jon stoops down and puts a hand on her shoulder (which arya looks down at) as he talks to her. where were you before? i could have used your help with sansa. she doesnt like your queen, does she?

then we get this next line from jon.

first things first, it’s almost like jon doesnt realize she’s grown up. he’s got his hand on her shoulder, down at her level like you would with a kid. i mean, he probably cant help it, can he? she’s always going to be his kid sister, after all. thats how he knows her and remembers her. not to mention he’s been pretending to be someone else around dany for a long time now, he’s trying to shake himself back into the person his family knows him as

arya looks at his hand before she says she’s the smartest person i know. you’re defending her now? you?

like he cant really believe that these two sisters that only used to bicker and fight are getting along to the point that arya is defending her to him. this is where i get upset with jon because he’s been gone for how long now? has he even bothered to talk to sansa about all that happened at winterfell? has he even asked her anything about what’s been going on while he was gone? clearly not, or he would know how close arya and sansa have become in his absence. that they’d taken out littlefinger together, even!

i’m defending my family. so is she. i’m her family too.

that alone points me into the direction of political jon. he’s avoiding sansa because he’s less likely to control himself in front of her. he might spill the beans about what he’s up to and its not time yet. he cant let that happen, not until the right time. while we all know he’d be better off telling her and the other starklings, so they could fight as a united pack... jon hasn’t come to that conclusion yet. lets hope he gets there next episode, though.

he sounds so sad, so dejected when he delivers his line. like, sansa should be defending him, smiling, just in general happy to see him back. he’s brought a massive army and dragons! he did what he thought was best for the north and he cant quite grasp why sansa would be upset with him. one of jon’s weaknesses is sansa and how he thinks she feels about him. he craves her approval and he knows she’s angry with him at this point. and man does that bother him. he thinks she should have ultimate faith in him, even though he doesnt really deserve that, does he? anyways, thats a conversation for later in the post.

ps i love that he looks around before saying im her family too. almost as if he’s afraid of being overheard.

dont you ever forget that.

yeah i had to pause the show at this point just to compose myself. this second hug was just as sweet as the first and im glad it was there. it finished the scene out nicely.

i love how we got this moment of them being addressed at the same time, in frame like this. i live for moments like this, with them side by side.

we get a lot of talk back and forth about why jon bent the knee and of course we get lyanna mormont calling his dumb ass out.

i was waiting for this scene too & it didnt disappoint me.

also i find his choice of words interesting

sansa looks back at him and she’s literally the embodiment of the shrug emoji. like bitch i told u so. she has zero sympathy for him and the mess he’s in with the northern lords because she fucking told him it would happen.

tyrion gets up and tries to do some mega damage control because lets be real, this situation is getting nasty. he talks about dany’s amazing army and the dragons as if this will lighten the mood. he also mentions about the lannister army coming (lol) like this is what will get everyone on their side.

sansa interrupts and god do i love her more than i ever did

finally someone asking the REAL questions.

sansa has worried about feeding the entire north the whole time jon has been gone. she’s built up as much as she could to ensure her people didn’t starve to death come winter. now jon shows up with this queen and her massive army with not even a wagon load of grain. when it cuts to dany a moment later, you can see she’s visibly shaken by sansa’s comment. hmm, wonder why? it couldn’t be because she’d just burned TONS of food that could have been used to feed her army and the rest of the north out of spite, right? nah, couldn’t be.

sansa spits out these words and just look at her face- she’s doing her best to control herself here but her mouth is a snarl and her eyes are narrowed. she’s got every right to be angry over this- her people will probably starve because this so called queen hasn’t provided anything for her own army and now sansa will have to figure it out herself. if she’s this angry already, imagine how she’s going to feel when she learns dany burned all that food when she burned the lannister army.

what makes me angry here is dany’s response. whatever they want. she’s so fucking childish i cant stand it. like she’s so bent out of shape that sansa’s calling her out basically, she’s going to resort to these sort of comments. like, you keep calling yourself a queen, fucking act like it dany. not a jealous, spoiled little girl. id respect her a whole lot more if she’d stood up for herself and her dragons here but that was never going to happen. its out of her character, especially at this point in her story. her dragons really could never do any wrong, in her eyes. and at this point i wouldnt be surprised to hear her defend them burning houses, crops, or innocent people.

this episode is not making me like dany anymore. i cant stand characters like her, good or bad ones. and we all know dany is trending bad these days. but sansa doesnt even respond which is fantastic- instead of listening to her, everyone is focused on what dany had just said. we stan the real queen.

im pretty sure next we see the bit between tyrion and sansa.

i didnt dislike the scene, it was actually pretty good. i especially liked the last time we saw each other was at joffrey’s wedding. dismal affair. it had it’s moments.

we also got this

not only is this true, we also later hear dany threaten sansa.

interesting.

but other than that, i didnt take much away from it. sansa was cool to him, as i expected her to be to anyone on dany’s side. tyrion may have been kind to her once, but as far as she’s concerned... he’s basically her enemy now. plus the whole scene before couldn’t have helped.

somehwere in this we get all that junk with jon and dany.

i... hated it. all of it.

but after seeing it im 100% certain political jon is coming. his stiff demeanor with dany hasn’t changed, thats for sure. but what sold me was when dany threatened sansa.

i’m queen, she must respect me or...

we all know how jon “dont touch my sister or else” snow acts when someone mentions sansa around him in a way he doesnt like. the fact that jon barely even REACTS is clear in its message: he cant behave like he normally would. not with dany. he cant even go against her because he know how easy it is for her to become swayed. he cant lose control of the situation, not yet. i think he knows things are spiraling out of control more quickly than he anticipated.

political jon must be a thing because there’s no reason for him to then roam across the north on a fucking dragon. the whole jonerys scene was as lackluster as they all have been and the kiss with drogon watching was very... weird. it felt ominous almost. there was no romance behind it, even if dany wanted there to be.

but i think its very clear that dany feels threatened by sansa. she needs to be loved by everyone and sansa makes it clear she cares little if at all for her. queen or not, sansa doesnt respect her, nor like her, and she isnt afraid to make it known. i worry how dany is going to behave the deeper into this love triangle we get (because they sure arent being subtle about it).

also, something i find interesting is the fact that dany would allow jon to ride her dragons at all. now that he has rode rhaegal he’s created a bond with the dragon, essentially taking him from dany’s control. she’s more or less lost 2 dragons now. and if you dont think jon would use this dragon against her to protect his family... then we must be watching two different shows.

next comes jon’s scene with sansa (i think, at least its what im gonna talk about next lol). finally we get a glimpse of them alone! and god it doesnt disappoint me at all. i mean, id have loved to have more of it of course- yelling and even some tears, but we got something simple and hyper charged with both of their emotions. as always, the jonsa scenes get it done with as little as possible.

we get a lot of angry stares and heavy sighs. its the same damn energy as the tent scene before the battle of the bastards. i love it. i fucking live for it. there’s so many things left unsaid between them and it makes me want their next scene that much more. literally, this scene was less than 2min long and i got so much from it.

the scene opens and sansa is in her chamber, reading. the knock on the door sounds and she calls them in and she sighs when she sees it’s jon. the first thing i noticed was jon back in his old direwolf armor- he changed clothes before coming to her rooms- and then sansa paraphrases what the letter she’s holding says. jon parrots back lord glover’s words to them back when they met and thats when sansa gets up, very clearly angry, and says i will stand behind jon snow, the king in the north. she whips around to look at him and walks across the room like she wants to do something else entirely. i told you we needed allies. you didnt tell me you were going to abandon your crown.

this is where jon explodes, much how he explodes back in the tent scene with her. i never wanted a crown! i wanted to protect the north! he tells her, then goes on to say he brought with him an army and 2 dragons. this is where i wish we would have had more- sansa yelling at him about did he even think of how they would feed them all, specifically. but we get a lot of ~emotion~ and im living for every second.

as soon as jon finishes ranting, he heaves a huge sigh (first gif). then he closes his eyes, thinking for a moment, before breaking down an asking her if she has faith in him. look at her face- she’s so hurt. they’re both hurting, honestly. what i love about jonsa scenes is how soft and vulnerable they both are during them. they let down their walls and open their hearts to the other.

i think that’s why jon is so hurt by how sansa has been treating him since his return. he thinks he deserves her ultimate trust not realizing how he really doesnt deserve it. not,yet. you know i do. despite it all, she does have faith in him. but that doesnt mean she isnt angry or upset with him. and it doesnt change how she feels about dany. trust is not something that comes easy to sansa, not anymore. how can she be expected to trust a complete stranger when even those who were supposed to care about her turned on her? when for so long everyone around her was nothing beyond abusive and harmful. this girl trusts no one but her family and jon should get that better than anyone.

but he thinks because its him, he gets a pass from her. that because of all they’ve been through together sansa should automatically know where his heart is and the truth of him. but how can she? he’s been gone all this time, promising to find them allies, not a queen that they didn’t ask for or even want. he promised them allies that would help them, not doom them to starvation.

when sansa speaks, he takes a step forward, almost like he thought of reaching for her. but he thinks better of it and says something about how she’ll be a good queen, yada yada.

and then... sansa drops this bomb

we never get jon’s answer because thats it, the scene just fucking ends there. like alright guys, thats fine i didnt want the answer anyways. i know jonerys fans are insisting he doesn’t answer because we already know the answer to that. but its not that easy.

the set up between jon and sansa can’t be for nothing. the back story from season 6 cant just be a random addition. so many lines that will come back this season (ill protect you, i promise. you are to me. ect) and i cant wait for that.

next i want to talk about when dany and jorah meet with sam.

first off, i have to say its weird that jorah has never told dany his name? is that just me? anyways. the scene opens and it reminds me a lot of the feel from her first meeting with sansa. dany is smiling, jovial. this is the man that saved jorah from death and she wants to thank him personally. their conversation goes well- in fact, its kind of sweet how sam behaves. he’s honored to be standing before her, being addressed by her, because he doesnt know who daenerys targaryen is yet. but he’s about to find out.

similarly to how dany reacted when sansa didn’t return her compliment, she goes from soft and smiling to hard and somewhat aggressive.

in record time. as soon as sam mentions his name, it registers with dany and she asks him if he meant randyll tarly. that’s when she immediately, without sympathy, tells him she executed his father. you can see sam get visibly upset but he’s doing his best to keep it together, saying at least i can go home now, which by the way... is fucking heartbreaking. now that his brother is in charge he could go back home and be with his family when this whole thing was over. oh nope, dany tells him she executed his brother too.

how anyone can stand behind this queen, ill never understand. this scene was so sad for sam & so unfeeling for dany. she doesnt even have the sense to pretend to be remorseful for what she’s done to this man’s family. and when sam does leave, she looks upset- but not because of what she’d done to his family. because now she’s in trouble and she knows it. again, they’re making it incredibly easy to dislike dany and they’re doing it for a reason.

dark dany is coming for us. it’s going to all be revealed in the next two episodes, without a doubt.

last but not least, i want to talk about sam telling jon the truth of who his parents were.

i loved this whole scene.

while i was really surprised they told jon so early (and that it was sam alone) i enjoyed the shock. i didn’t honestly anticipate the reveal until at least episode 2, if not the third at the latest. but, it added something to the first episode- a similar shock value the first episode of the first season left us with.

what i take from this scene is a few things, mostly how upset jon seems just to realize that this means ned lied to him his whole life. who gives a fuck about the truth, why didn’t ned just tell him all along? but when sam says the line about robert killing him, he seems to calm down a little.

what else is interesting is jon’s lack of defending dany here. if he loved her as we’re supposed to believe, wouldnt he have said something beyond this is treason. id expect a “what will i say to her?” or “i cant take this from her, its all shes ever wanted’ or even “its hers, not mine.” anything else! but we got nothing in terms of jon defending dany’s right to the crown.

and when sam asks him if dany would give up her crown for his people as jon had done, we don’t get jon’s answer. similarly to his scene being cut off with sansa, its done here as well, and we’re only left wondering what he would say. why wouldn’t they let him say? if he loves dany so much, wouldn’t he jump at this chance to defend her? especially to sam, who’s going to have a hell of time going forward now that he learned what dany did to his family. more so, it’s not yet been revealed that she burned them alive. what will they say then? when they realize that?

i guess we’ll find out next episode, especially now that jaime is in winterfell. im really excited to see what episode 2 brings & im hoping for more dark dany & more private moments among the starks.

overall, i really did enjoy the episode. i think there were things that could have been done better or differently, but i think the episode set us up for a lot of good things to come!

in conclusion:

- jonsa is endgame & jonerys is doomed. sorry guys.

- political jon theory is confirmed (in my mind at least)

- sansa is still the queen of sass.

A-Z HEADCANONS // DUNCAN THEIRIN

i was tagged by @nordxz thanks so much tash !! i'm gonna answer this for duncan, my babey and the next gen son of alistair and ella cousland 😊😚😘

i snappped while answering these and accidentally wrote 6 pages and almost 4k words so uh. loooooong infodump ahead.

Alignment: What would be their D&D alignment? How might it come into play?

duncan very easily falls into the lawful neutral category, like i dont rly need to give his alignment too much thought unlike with some of my other ocs. duncan is.....hmm. hes a very KIND person, generous and selfless, and tries his best to make people happy, but i wouldn’t necessarily say he's good, considering a lot his issues lie with his inability to act, or stand up to others. he’s guilty of very blindly following the law, or other people's ideas of what's right, and he doesn't really feel confident enough to rely on his own conscience for most things. so i'd say while he tries to do the right thing and act within the law, sometimes he goes against his own values out of fear or confusion or, simply out of ignorance, since he was born into a life of privilege and can't always distinguish what's right and what’s believed ykno

Beverage: What do they most like to drink, and why?

duncan shares a weird trait with both his brother and sister where they all just inexplicably ?? don't like alcohol at all. so stuff like wine and liquors is off the table. he absolutely LOVES tea though. u know that one scene in scott pilgrim where the gal is going thru her list of like 72 teas? thats him 100%. it's his lifeblood at this point, he has SO much of it and a perk of being the heir to a monarchy means he's got a lot of foreign merchant acquaintances, so he tends to order in different blends from all over. he's a chronic insomniac, and he uses it as a crutch to get through the days some times. modern!duncan still loves tea but obviously has a stronger love for coffee, since its far more effective!

Co-Habitat: Do they live with anyone? What’s “need to know” before moving in?

duncan currently lives in the residential dorms of the college of enchanters, while he's sort of aimlessly studying a bunch of subjects he's already mostly adept at. firstly, duncan is VERY sick lol, he was conceived while ella and alistair still hadn't found the cure for the joining, and essentially he inherited both of their darkspawn taint so 🙂🙂🙂 thats always a good time. so anyone who lives with him needs to prepare for 1) him being sick obviously,, throwing up, coughing up blood, looking like a corpse virtually 23 hours of the day lol. and obviously the fear that one day he might actually die. but also 2) he suffers from grey warden nightmares for the same reasons, hence the insomnia. he can go a concerning number of days without sleeping and usually only takes strategic cat naps when he needs to, but obviously he has his limits. it's very rare that he goes a full night without waking up in a cold sweat due to nightmares so. we stan one depressed king ! oh he also is Incapable of locking the door to his apartment. he always forgets and hes too tired to care about people stealing his stuff fkdkdjdjd he would probably make more of an effort if he had someone living with him, but old habits die hard so !!!!!!

Decor: What kind of home do they keep? Are there any defining details?

honestly , duncan's house is very devoid of clutter or personal items in general, which is sad. he definitely would have a lot of decor if he could, but since his current housing is only temporary while he's in orlais, he doesn't really want to get... comfortable ykno. other than that, duncan's home is always kept impeccably neat and clean, for two reasons. firstly, growing up in denerim's palace really engrained into his head the importance of keeping up appearances, so its sort of a subconscious ritual of his at this point. but i think more importantly its because of all the nights when he cant sleep, so during the night with nothing to keep him from dwelling on his thoughts or nightmares, he really needs the distraction, and cleaning gives him something to do. duncan really needs to feel like he's doing something, like he's managing, like he's able to achieve something so cleaning is just one little way of taking ownership of his life.

Escape: What do they do to de-stress? How successful is it?

nsfw warning but uhhh..... he has a LOT of sex basically dkdkdksk u wouldn’t know it by looking at him tho ! bc hes very polite and nervous and kinda shy?? but hes also charming and obviously attractive so he doesnt really lack for interested parties. mainly he just sticks to one night stands, with no strings attached, and it helps him take his mind off things when hes exhausted or its late at night and hes afraid to go to sleep. otherwise he also has had some friends with benefits but usually his personal life is too complicated for a serious relationship. aside from that, he also reads a LOT, writes too – when he has the time/energy – and obviously cuddling sessions with his cat, moira dkdkdk

Fluff: What hits their soft spot? Does anything turn them into emotional goo?

so ik above i said that duncan doesnt do serious relationships but thats,, not through any will of his own. he LOVES love and is a complete hopeless romantic , but unfortunately for a number of reasons he's just very unlucky at love ! 😔 so having an emotional, intimate connection with someone that isnt just sex is super healing for him, since he's not used to it at all. being with nadaia is such a positive thing for him, just knowing that his feelings are reciprocated and that he's valued and wanted.

Grudge: How bad does an insult go over? Do they hold a grudge long?

i think it depends on who its directed at !! duncan usually ignores any insults directed at him because he's grown up being so scrutinized by the public and for the most part, fereldens are very weary of him so he hears A LOT. most of criticisms about him he just.. automatically accepts as fact and really buys into them, bc he has such low self esteem. but as for other people, and ESPECIALLY loved ones thats a very different story!! he's not exactly the type to start throwing punches if anyone says a bad word against someone he cares about, but he WILL personally see to it in his own sneaky way that they get whats coming to them dkdkkdjd usually he'll either find a way to expose their dirty laundry, embarrass them in public, prevent a promotion, something like that lol. this goes double if the insult is directed at nadaia or his family.

Hobby: What’s something they do for fun that might be surprising?

ive already mentioned that he's an avid reader and he likes to write occasionally, but he's also a talented musician! He can play harp and lute, and has a beautiful singing voice ! tho he never EVER sings in public and u have to be like,, a ride or die for him to even consider singing in front of u.

Insomnia: What’s their sleeping schedule like? Snorer? Sound sleeper?

well like i said he's an insomniac so sleep rly is a vague, barely recognised concept to him at the point dksksksk he also experiences sleep paralysis during especially bad nightmares, honestly he rly hit the misery jackpot and i feel so bad like hes indisputably my most tormented oc 🙃🙃🙃 so yea hehe doesnt really thrash around during nightmares but he sweats A LOT and sometimes talks in his sleep. during sleep paraylsis obviouslyy he goes COMPLETELY rigid and still which is terrifying for everyone involved lol. on the rare occasion that he is able to sleep he is out like a light lol he would sleep for 17 hours if he could. in saying that because he is also a Strategic Napper he is usually comfortable falling asleep ANYWHERE, because hes so tired comfort really isnt a concern lol.

Jaded: Do they buy into the “happily ever after” ideal? What’s their standard?

no he doesn't unfortunately 😔 or at least i should say he doesn't believe in it for himself - he's pretty convinced that he won't live til 30 and he's existing on borrowed time as it is, so he hasn't really put a lot of thought into his own happiness or the pursuit of his own goals because he doesn't believe he'll be around to see them realized

Kin: What’s their role among their relations? Do they consider others family?

duncan is the firstborn son of king!alistair and ella cousland, my canon warden. he's also the eldest brother to roslyn and bryce theirin. he's also, obviously , the half brother of keiran, tho none of the theirin kids are aware of that oof. his role, officially, is to become king when his parents eventually pass. its NOT something he wants, due to being so sick and unsure of himself. despite what his parents tell him, he doesnt believe he will make a good king and is really terrified of the notion in general, i guess a little like alistair was in dao. duncan kinda,,, avoids his duties, to the point where he literally LEAVES to live and study in orlais. he still does what he needs to do, keeps in correspondence with people he needs to, but its all bare minimum stuff because hes just. so afraid of it lol. he has a mostly good relationship with his family, despite that – theres some resentment between him and his sister, rose, but thats a whole entire story we dont have time for dkdkskdk

Law: What do they think about abiding rules? Are they selective about it?

like i said before he's pretty adherent to the rules and laws of society tho i do see that as more of a flaw than anything. he doesnt really feel comfortable stepping outside the norm and tends to accept that other people know best ! even if he disagrees he's usually too unsure of himself to speak up. that does change quite a bit once he and nadaia grow closer, since SHE is big on bending ridiculous or unjust rules, but he's always gonna be a bit of a follower i think 😒

Magic: In a magic series or not, are they accepting, or is each instance a shock?

he's accepting!! he's a mage so it would be wild of him if he didnt lmao. during his childhood/adolesence he was kinda harsh on himself and had a lot of internalized guilt for being a mage, bc this was obviously still fresh after the mage rebellions. he resented his own abilities and just wanted to be normal, but that was also him projecting a lot of his other problems as well. he had amazing teachers who helped him come to terms with his abilities, and the best of all was my inquisitor, ashara, who is kind of like a very distant, scary aunt who always had a soft spot for him. she helped him – and alistair and ella – RIGHT after they discovered he was a mage, and she was really the biggest role model in his life when it came to magic. duncan has always looked up to her skill and control and confidence, and tried very hard to match that.

Network: Are they connected to the people? How much do they reach out to others?

duncan has an ARMY of acquaintances and connections due to his family, but doesn't really have a lot of people he considers his close friends. he's super friendly and he gets along with most people, but like ive said before serious relationships including friendships are always a bit complicated for him bc of who he is as a person lol. as for reaching out, he's a very independent, introverted person and so he tends not to seek out other people unless he's close to them or has no other choice. he's very self conscious about being a burden on people or being to “needy" so he holds himself back and sometimes comes across as a little cold.

Offspring: What kind of parent would they be? Would they prefer one, or multiple?

he.... probably can't physically have kids unfortunately due to his condition, and as a result he's never really wanted to think too much about it, or imagine a scenario that he believes he cant have. but if it WERE a possibility, or if he felt stable in his own life enough to adopt, he'd probably be comfortable with just one child to completely spoil. he would be such a good father, albiet maybe not the coolest dad ddkdkdks i think nadaia would be the one who got up to the crazy shenanigans and let her child get away with everything, and duncan would be more of the nurturing, responsible one. he'd be a MASTER at telling bedtime stories, would kick ass at homework assistance, and would sing his kid to sleep every single night (until they got too old for it obviously). ooooo im so IMMENSELY emo abt this au now that i think about it

Pistol: Is this character skilled with a weapon? What’s their opinion of violence?

duncan is a very non-violent person, but he does believe that sometimes violence is necessary and will BE violent if he needs to – only in self defence scenarios though. he's an adept mage, and very skilled with a staff, but he isn't a fighter, really – more of a defensive, protective figure.

Question: How often do they feel doubt? What topics are they defensive about?

oh the doubt is constant with him 🙃🙃 he has a lot of deep routed dread about his own morality and whether or not he's a good person or if the maker will accept him when he dies. he's andrastian but TERRIFIED of the notion that its all actually real, bc then he doesnt know where that leaves him. he has this weird existential dichotomy where he doesnt know if hes closer resembling a grey warden or a darkspawn bc of his tainted blood. he also doubts his abilities and his magic bc he's afraid that the taint just,, makes him inherently a corrupted thing. he doubts himself on a more basic level with like, being a good brother, a good son, a good king when the time comes. he wants to be a good student and partner but sometimes his health makes him feel like he cant, and it weighs on him so heavily, almost all the time. basically he needs a hug so badly its not funny 😔😔😔

Reminder: How are they at remembering daily needs? What falls through the cracks?

uhh its very selective !!! for the most part he's very good at taking care of himself, mostly because he NEEDS to otherwise his health gets out of control, but sometimes he tends to prioritize one set of needs above another,, which usually means not sleeping (the most common), forgetting to eat, not letting his loved ones know when he's having a poor health day which usually results in him getting really sick and nobody is around to help him. he also forgets to do certain things like lock up his house, buy foodstuffs, reply to peoples letters n stuff like that.

Sing: Do they like music? Do they listen often/sing/hum/play songs in their head?

yes and yes !! duncan loves music altho its a very personal and private thing for him. he's pretty naturally gifted with music and gets it from ella, who taught him a lot of what he knows. he has a gorgeous singing voice (i kinda hc something similar to dan smith’s vocals from bastille!) that he rarely uses bc he only ever sings when he's alone or if he's forced to by a nosy loved one or something lol

Touch: How do they handle contact? Is their personal bubble big?

duncan doesn't mind being touched !!! in fact in most situations he welcomes it, as long as its like,,, appropriate and not some random stranger obviously. he grew up with ella and alistair who obviously are VERY affectionate people so he loves giving and receiving hugs from friends and he doesnt flinch or feel weird about just? random natural touches or anything. his ~love language~ is also physical touch so he LIVES for cuddling with nadaia and holding hands and anything like that. however !!! his little sister rose HATES being touched by virtually anybody and in any capacity, so he's very aware that not everybody is okay with touch, and is always careful and considerate of other peoples boundaries. he usually waits for the other person to make the first move, or simply asks them first !

Upcoming: How much do they think of the future? Do they make long-term plans?

he doesn't at all 😔 i mentioned this before but he doesn't see himself living very long, and its really impacted his outlook on life. he is afraid to commit to a lot of things, even if its something he really, truly wants, because he doesn't want to get his hopes up for things. it also keeps him from forging positive relationships. a lot of it has to do with him just being overly polite, but he refuses to make the first move with anything, or communicate what HE wants out of something. for example, his relationship with nadaia could have progressed so much faster if he had just,,, told her what he wanted. she had to make a lot of the first moves in the relationship because he just,, doesnt know how to take chances i guess !!! we love a Deeply Flawed king

Vice: What bad habits do they have? Is there something they would be ashamed of?

Some harmless ones are ; him talking to his cat constantly dkdskd also he has very poor time management skills so he's almost always a few minutes late, forgetting to lock his stuff up, and slouching, probably !!! some more serious ones would be like,, having sex with strangers as a coping mechanism lol, not speaking his mind and instead just letting himself be a doormat, also INTENSE avoidance of his problems (moving away to orlais for 9 years to avoid his fear of being king for example 🙃) tho i guess they fall under the same category oof.

Wardrobe: What’s their fashion style? Do they have any staple pieces?

duncan dresses nice, for the most part !!! again, it's mostly to do with growing up in court and having to keep up appearances, but also hes just. a nice bisexual boy who wants to take care of himself ykno, and that includes hygiene/clothing/grooming etc ! he's maybe a bit TOO reserved tho, he mostly wears dark colours like blacks, greys and brows, but hes been known to wears reds/blues/whites as well, and there’s a lot of subtle yet beautiful details on his more formal attire that might go unnoticed by a casual eye. a lot of his clothes are specifically tailored but he's also fond of big oversized sweaters for when hes just hanging out ! he's got a not great relationship with his body lol so he usually dresses very conservatively, with long sleeves and pants and usually more than one layer, but hes also a thot so !!! pants be TIGHT dksksksks

X-Ray: How’s their health? Any problem areas? Do they take care of themselves?

Djdjdksksndjddjkekdidksjs OKAY WELL if u have read this far than obviously u kno the answer to this question. if ur just skimming tho first of all ur valid ! second of all duncan is VERY sick. he was conceived when ella and alistair where still searching for the joining cur, so basically he inherited the darkspawn taint x 2 and nearly died a bunch of times as a baby/young child. obviously idk how the cure storyline is gonna resolve but my hc is that bc the darkspawn taint is something he was BORN with, not just something that happened to him via ritual, his body is much more impacted by it so even if they are able to find a cure, it wouldnt work THAT well and his health would still suffer bc of the prolonged damage. so physically, he deals with a LOT – intense migraines, insomnia, nausea, fatigue, problems with breathing and fevers and stuff. obviously mentally hes.... not doing great either, tho he’s trying his best. sometimes his insomnia gets so bad he starts hallucinating visions from his darkspawn nightmares, and sometimes he just feel paranoid in general that he's actually an Evil Darkspawn and hes just somehow managed to convince everyone hes a normal person – sort of a weird blend of imposter syndrome and body dysmorphia its. complicated. anyway he has very low self esteem and tends to think hes a huge inconvenience to everybody, and when he was a teenager he went thru a period where he was very suicidal, and ANGRY and afraid 😔 he’s doing better though, now that he has learnt how to manage most of his symptoms and he's not suffering in denerim court. nadaia is also a huge help, though he tries not to become too heavily reliant on her, since he's had bad experiences with depending too much on other people.

Yack: What’s their favorite thing to talk about? What do they go on about?

skskdkdk im already crying hehe 🙂 duncan is so introverted and self conscious of being “Too Much" for other people so he tends to keep his thoughts/interests to himself and stick w just. boring small tall or non invasive questions relating to the other person. BUT if u show an interest and he trusts u then oh boy. hes an absolute dork. he loves talking about magic and having really intense conversations abt the technical sides of it (he and dorian would get along SO well) but he also loves history !!!! before he began studying at the college of enchanters he received multiple ??? qualifications?? (idk if thats the right term but u kno) from the university of orlais, one of them being orlesian and ferelden history. also anything to do with the grey wardens, the blights and darkspawn for personal reasons obviously. He's a VERY good storyteller so he somehow finds a way to make even the dryest topics seem very compelling and Cool – varric would be proud !! he finds the orlesian Great Game fascinating, and he enjoys sharing wild anecdotes about the things he's seen asshole nobles get up to. thats always thrilling skdksksk ALSO. He has a secret interest in necromancy and the mortalitasi (its only a secret bc hes the heir and that wouldnt look ... great lol ) but he only ever really talks about that with nadaia, who finds that stuff almost as interesting as he does. also, finally, he loves talking about nadaia 😊😊😊😊 hes the type of guy who will always namedrop “my girlfriend" into any conversation, loves telling people about her accomplishments and how Cool she is ..... he loves her a Lot is what im getting at sksksks

duncan is a pisces babey like his mother !!! tho he could also be a virgo but,,, i think for now pisces works better for him. he's very smart and introspective and creative, but he has some issues with critical thoughts, avoidance and melancholy like ive mentioned. also pisces is a water element so i guess that makes even more sense, since hes an ice mage 👌👌👌

-i went thro cycles of favorites. but one ive had for years is a plush shadow the hedgehog from universal studios i got when i was 6. i used to carry him around, even to a pool once

-if you know me, you know i go to bed ridiculously early. i usually get tried at around 6pm and fall asleep between 7:45 and 8:30. and i always wake up before 6 am. i havent slept past 6 am continuously since the end of junior year. please help me

-maybe to go explore new york, just the two of us that sounds like fun :]

-i have 2 dogs and a cat. the family owns the dogs but that cat is mine

+ when richie first wanted to learn to do his makeup he went to bev, makeup queen

+ she taught him the basics and also reccomended him a load of beauty youtubers/ instagrammers

+ at first he couldn’t buy his own stuff as he was afraid of what his parents would say, so he used bev’s brushes ect whenever they hung out

+ bev always loves to go with a bold eye and some killer wings and would do them on richie to practice her skills and to explain/teach him what to do

+ richie, being richie, picks it up very quickly and is soon out here doing cut creases and all sorts

+ he starts to become more comfortable wearing makeup and starts to wear it around the losers. everyone is like :0!!!!!!!!!! but eddie,.,boy.,, eddie.exe stopped working,.,. my little punk boy just sits there in the corner wearing his eyeliner, face the shade of a tomato

+ so the losers see how happy wearing makeup makes him and they decide to band together to buy him some brushes and palettes ect for christmas

+ he is SO happy and can’t stop hugging them all.,,.

+ to test out his new stuff he decides to do the losers makeup omgsgjd

+ for mike he goes for a soft golden eye with a load of glitter and highlighter, for ben he gives a gentle orange eye when they make it look kind of wet (idkwhat its called i dont do makeup mgkdshg), for stan he gives a deep purple eye with gold eyeliner, bill gets a baby blue eye with white eyeliner. he can’t bear to do bevs as she has the most gorgeous shade of green on her eyes(that would look ugly on anyone else) that she totally rocks!!!

+ and then it was eddie’s turn,.,,

+richie goes for a really edgy smokey eye bcuz eddie is fuckin punk, bitch!!!

+ he just.,,,.savors every moment he gets to spend looking at eddie’s face as close up as much as he can. and he might have spent a bit too long blending out his eyeshadow, observing the very faint freckles dusting eddie’s cheeks. and maybe he spent too much time making sure that the red lipgloss on eddie’s lips was absolutely perfect !!! but if the losers noticed they didnt say anything

+meanwhile eddie is internally freaking the fuck out !!!!! his feelings for richie increase tenfold as he watches richie stick his tongue out in concentration as he paints eddie’s lips. eddie only hopes that richie can’t see the rouge of his cheeks

+ after this eddie becomes suspiciously willing to be richie’s makeup model, and richie seems to ask to practice his skills more

+ and neither boy has ulterior motives, no of course not

+ eddie may be a edgy boi but he does love it when richie paints his face in pinks and purples, highlighter everywhere

+ richie LOVES highlighter, he always has to buy a new one bcuz he uses them up so quickly omdg

+ oof i also feel like richie doesn’t like to do extreme eyeliner that much on himself, he much prefers to wear some really bold eyelashes to complete The Look

+ oH, one day he asks his parents to get him contacts

+they agree bcuz they assume he gets bullied for his glasses

+ but, no

+no one can fully appreciate the hard work he spends doing his eyes when he has those ridiculously large frames blocking their view

+richies favourite part normally is doing his eyes because thats where he feels like he can be the most expressive, using bold colours and intricate eyeliner but with eddie, he would do anything to be painting the boys lips with colour for the rest of his life.,,.,

+he always makes sure to take e x t r a care on eddie’s lips, he just has to do eddie’s perfect cupid’s bow justice!!

+ one day eddie puckers and licks his lips one time too many and richie’s just like!! ykno what?? fuck it

+ and he pushes their lips together roughly, surprised when eddie starts to move his lips aswell, expecting him to pull away instantly

+after a few minuites of their lips sliding together in harmony, they pull apart

+ “oh! babe look, you ruined all the hard work you spent making my lips look perfect!” eddie smirks,

+ “well, then i guess i’ll just have to wipe off this old lipstick and start fresh” richie smirks back as he tackles eddie, pushing him back onto the bed and covering his face in wet kisses, eddie giggling and squirming underneath him,.,.,

+once they start officially dating richie begins to leave some of his stuff around eddie’s bcuz eddie’s house is basically a home away from home for him

+they like to do cute coupely shit like wearing lowkey matching makeup/clothing

+eddie normally wears black nail polish bcuz he is a punk edgelord but richie somehow convinces eddie to allow him to paint one of his hands in pretty pastel colours

+ this then becomes their Thing™ , to each have one hand painted black and one hand painted in pastels

+justtsdd i love punk!eddie x pastel!richie so much

+eddie likes to maintain his “edgy and mysterious” aesthetic but as soon as richie wraps a pink fluffy jumper clad arm around his waist he m e l t s and becomes a gooey mush of heart eyes and love for his boyfriend

+richie sometimes wears one of eddies band tees and he’ll be damned if he lets the 5 size size difference between them get in his way. the shirt may cut off above his bellybutton , revealing a slither of his stomach, but neither boy is complaining *eye emoji*

To A Happy 2018

This isn’t a follow forever or mutual list, I just wanted to give a little personal shoutout to some of you who make tumblr a place i want to keep coming back to.

There are many more wonderful people I didn’t mention, but I hope in the coming year to step out of my comfort zone a little and try to talk to you all more, even if it is only over anon.
