Today I was going to post about the White Pumpkin folklore like I do every year but a lot has happened today. I promise I will post later on or tomorrow. Today I got some very bad news about this beautiful friend that has been honoring me with his presence. In 2014 my friend needed me to watch her cat and eventually I adopted him from her. She named him Holden. I call him Fur Man Mitten Man. 😻 He is the most unique cat I’ve ever met! He is more like a dog because he growls and runs to the door when we have visitors. He taps your leg when he wants to be pet which I find utterly adorning 💜 He has a skinny short tail that he whips and flicks around 24-7! Cracks me up! I love how he will lay on his back and roll side to side for nearly an hour at a time. He is a polydactyl cat so he has thumbs, he has yellow eyes, and gray hairs lightly spotted through his dark black coat. He’s an Alter cat... (many of you know what that means) He loves to be brushed and when he gets his weekly brushing he actually walks back and forth across the room. We always tell him to work the catwalk. 😹 He acts like there is a crowd watching him! It’s so funny. I love him to the moon and back. 💜 His diagnoses is not good but there will be a Shaman circle for him this week. Please keep this beauty of our earth in your thoughts. I always believed that the gods took notice of him. As he sits at their alters; 6 digits, all black fur piercing at the images, and watching the smoke glide and dance the prayers up. Today I got to visit Holden in treatment. They told me honestly that things are not good but a visit will do him all the world of good. One of the techs told me to take pictures and snuggle him as much as I can. We are not promised tomorrow. So I took lots of photos then I turned on video and recorded the whole visit. I removed the litter box and crawled in the kennel with him. (Did I ever mention I’m very short 😆) I was there for 2 hours. I told him two stories of old cat folklore. I reminded him of Freyja’s great chariot that only cats had the honor of commanding. I reminded him of his ancestors and how his kind came about the Earth. He began to purr when I told him he will be home for Samhain and that I have a white pumpkin Alter in his name. He did not want to be held so I pet him nonstop for the time I was there. I stayed until after they closed and I cried in the lobby when I was out of his presence. They need us to be strong. Just Wednesday evening we were playing a game with a ball. He was frolicking and rolling around.
