Sometime in the near future, there would be a case study conducted on how long a human being could burn from the inside without dying.
They would refer to you as exhibit a.
Doctors and scientists would lay your cold corpse on a colder table and use a scalpel to cut you from your thorax to your belly button. They would scribble notes about how your lungs had turned to ash and your esophagus to molten lava.
They wouldn't say it, but they would think it's a shame, because your driver's license states that you were an organ donor.
A harsh gust of wind snaps you out of the twisted fantasy and back to your reality - standing barefoot on the rickety front porch steps of a small cabin in Sitka, Alaska. You've only been outside for a few minutes but the snow is pouring down at a brutal pace, already covering the tops of your exposed feet.
The razor sharp chill of the ground below you and the air that surrounds you are the only things tethering you to what little remains of your sanity.
You never thought that you would be so thankful for your feet to be going numb, but after feeling like every fiber of your being is getting melted with a hot branding iron for - what? Ten? Twelve hours now? You had to resist the temptation to submerge your entire body in the multiple feet of snow that had accumulated since nightfall.
You hear the front door of the cabin creak open from behind you. You don't have to turn around to know that he's standing in the doorway with the same look of pleading desperation that he's been giving you since the two of you had realized what was happening.
âYou need to come back inside,â he says delicately. His voice is muffled by the roar of the snowstorm, but right now with heightened senses, you hear him just fine. âYou're going to get hypothermia.â
You don't respond. The mere sound of his voice makes you grit your teeth together so hard that you're surprised the tiny bones don't shatter.
He keeps to the doorway, scared that if he takes one step closer, you'll flee into the miles of thick woods that surrounds you in only a pair of old sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt. He murmurs your name in a tone that begs you to come in from the below freezing temperatures.
âWhat time is it now?â You barely recognize your own voice - low and strained, it sounds like you haven't had anything to drink in days.
You clear your throat, though you doubt it'll make any difference.
âJust after four o'clock.â
Eleven hours into this hell, then. Best case scenario, another half a day of this. Worst case scenario, close to two.
Either way, you knew that these symptoms had yet to hit their peak. This would undoubtedly get worse before it gets better.
You stare out into the endless thicket of snow covered hemlocks and spruces. The illumination from the full moon makes the white powder on the branches glisten in the darkness.
Daylight was still hours away, and with it, hope for some means of communication with the rest of your team back in New York. The snowstorm had brought a widespread power outage across the city. Cell phone signal was nonexistent right now.
âGo on back to your room,â you tell him. âI'll come back inside in just a moment.â You continue to watch the blizzard before you, knowing that he's still just a few feet away from you. âI promise,â you add, hoping that heâll believe you and return to the bedroom you'd been forcing him to keep to.
The drug coursing through your veins had amplified every one of your five senses. Even with him behind the closed door of the bedroom, you could still smell faint traces of the earthy musk of his deodorant and something warm that is uniquely him.
You wouldn't chance coming back into the house until his scent has dissipated from the entrance - not unless you want to feel as though all air is being stripped from your lungs.
Even simply standing here, with him behind you and the wind blowing his scent in the opposite direction, is nearly intolerable.
You hear footsteps retreat into the house, growing quieter and quieter as he makes his way back down the hallway, until you finally hear the click of his bedroom door. You exhale a breath that you weren't aware you had been holding in.
You have no doubt that he'll try to drag you back inside by the ankles if he has to, so you make good on your promise and return to the sweltering interior of the six hundred square foot log cabin.
A sharp, stabbing pain radiates from the center of your body at that thought - the exact kind of thoughts you were actively trying to avoid having. Thoughts of his hands digging into your thighs, his wet mouth on your throat, his bare chest pressed against yours as he fucks you into the likely thirty-something year old couch - those thoughts. Dangerous territory thoughts - the kind you didn't trust yourself not to act on if dwelled upon for too long.
Apparently, the thought of him putting his hands around your ankles and dragging you kicking and screaming falls into that category.
You settle onto the couch, pulling your knees up to your chest in an effort to alleviate the ache in your lower belly. You notice that Bucky has crammed more wood into the fireplace, which currently serves as the main source of light for the cabin, save for a few candles that have been placed sporadically throughout the small space.
Sweat begins to bead across your skin within seconds of sitting down in front of the fire. You know that Bucky is just trying to keep the temperature of the house from dropping below zero while also providing enough light to see during the middle of the night while you are in too much discomfort to sleep, but you feel like you are locked in a sauna after running five miles.
You think back to all of the times that you've given Sam shit for taking ice baths after his workouts. Now nothing sounds better than an ice bath.
Almost nothing, anyway. The only thing that could possibly feel even better is laying down behind a closed door less than twenty feet away.
And he'd offered - begged, actually, to take this pain away from you.
âPlease,â he whispers, kneeling on the ground next to the couch, where you sit hunched over in pain. He's so close to you and it's fucking suffocating. He places his hand on your knee and you have to dig your nails into the suede upholstery to keep from whimpering. He notices the reaction and retracts his touch.
âSweetheart, look at me,â he says louder, the pet name finally getting you to meet his gaze for the first time since you dropped the glass jar of the firetruck red powder in the former HYDRA warehouse two hours ago.
Big mistake. Looking at him is a big fucking mistake. From the way his blue eyes bore into yours with sincere concern to the way that his plump, pink lips are slightly chapped from the cold weather -
âNo,â you say firmly, shaking your head into your hands. âI can't ask that of you. I can't make you do that. I would never forgive myââ
âYou wouldn't be asking or making me do anything,â he tries to reason with you. There's sincerity in his voice but you're too delirius to hear the truth of his words. âI'm offering. Because I care about you. Because I don't want to see you in any kind of pain if there's anything I can do about it. Because I think you'd do the same for me if the situation wereââ
âBucky,â you cut him off in a strained gasp. âYour voice is making this so much worse right now.â
âThen let me help you. Let me make you feel good.â
His words alone are enough to have you clenching your thighs around nothing but the thick material of your sweatpants. You can feel your cotton panties becoming more drenched with each word he speaks.
âNot like this.â You're on the verge of tears - from pain, from anger at the entire situation, from how goddamn badly you need to feel him inside you. âIt can't happen like this. I never wanted it to happen like this.â
His features soften, a look of understanding spreading across his face.
âWhen we fuck, I want it to be because we want to fuck,â you say as you jump up from your position on the couch, desperately needing to distance yourself from him before you do something you can't take back. âI don't want it to be because we feel like neither of us have a choice in the matter.â
âBut we do have a choice,â he murmurs from where he's still kneeling on the floor next to the couch. âAnd I'd choose to go back to that HYDRA facility and infect myself with this shit, too, if it means you'd feel a little less guilty about saying yes.â
Your answer to that was, of course, a big, giant absolutely fucking not. The snow started pouring down shortly after, making his irrational proclamation an impossibility, anyway.
Almost half a day later, here you are. Surrounded by miles and miles of snow and ice in a town with no power or semi-functioning cell phone towers, just trying to endure the fire coursing through your veins until the effects of the HYDRA made drug have worked through your system.
You're coming up on the twelve hour mark now, and there's no denying that you're desperate for relief in one way or another.
Worth a fucking shot, you think.
You prop your feet up on the glass coffee table in front where you sit on the couch, spreading your thighs apart by a few inches.
You hesitate for a moment, listening for any kind of indication that Bucky's no longer in the confines of the cabinâs singular bedroom.
Dead silent, except for the crackling of the wood burning in the fireplace.
You snake your hand down the front of your pants, past the waistband of your underwear and to your center that's been aching for hours now.
You stroke your fingers up and down your folds, stopping at the apex of your core to massage your clit in circular motions.
Your head rolls back on the couch at the sensation, immediately feeling the slightest sense of relief. You dig your teeth into your lower lip to keep from moaning - hard enough to draw blood, the taste of iron flooding your mouth.
You slip two fingers past your entrance, not requiring any foreplay to plunge them to the hilt. It feels good - the way you're working yourself with rapid scissoring motions. Really fucking good, actually. Better than fingering yourself has ever felt.
But only a mere minute into the ministrations, you fear that it won't be enough to satiate you in the way that the drug requires.
Still, you try. You yank your t-shirt above your tits, bringing your free hand to paw at your breast as you continue working your pussy with your fingers, the heel of your palm putting pressure against your clit.
âThat's not going to work, you know.â
You yank your hand out of your pants, snapping your head to the side to see him leaning against the frame of the small hallway. You had been so immersed in attempting to find some amount of relief that you hadn't heard him exit the bedroom. He's looking at you with sympathy and concern, not judgment - you don't think you'd be able to find it within yourself to feel embarrassed even if he were. Not in your current state of discomfort.
âHow do you know that?â Frustration is evident in your voice. You look away from him, back to the fire in front of you as you pull your shirt back down. The floor creaks as he steps out of the hallway and makes his way over to the opposite end of the small couch. He sits a foot away from you, close enough so that his scent and warmth invades your senses, sending a fresh wave of arousal to your core.
âBecause I've been through what you're going through right now.â
Your eyes break away from the ember that you've been staring at, your gaze snapping to him. You don't know why this comes as a surprise to you. It shouldn't, not with every other form of torment that HYDRA had inflicted upon him for over half a century.
âWhy didn't you tell me?â you ask, your voice barely above a whisper.
âI was embarrassed,â he answers with a small half-shrug, breaking your stare. âI didn't.. handle it as well as you are,â he continues, shame in his voice and cheeks rosy. âYouâre doing everything you can to fight something that you didn't ask for. That's more than I can say for myself.â
âYou were brainwashed, Bucky,â you remind him delicately. It's a risky move that makes your skin burn and belly clench, but you scoot closer to him on the couch - your outermost thigh brushing against his knee. If the two of you weren't both wearing sweatpants, the minimal touch might even aid in bringing you some relief. Instead, youâre left feeling desperate for more of him.
But you push the feeling down, wanting to do what little you can to comfort him - wanting him to know that you don't think poorly of him for what was forced onto him, and what is now being forced onto you, too.
âI would never judge you for anything they made you do,â you assure him.
âI know you wouldn't,â he murmurs, turning to face you again. His blue eyes glow in the low lighting of the fire. The closeness between the two of you is dizzying, and electrifying, and -
âAnd I want you to know that I would never judge you for giving into this torture,â he adds.
You snort a laugh. âI'm starting to think you want me to give into this.â You mean for the statement to sound light-hearted, but a sharp pang in your gut makes you wince in pain and your voice goes shrill. You clutch your lower belly, hunching over at the pain.
He leans in closer, putting one hand on your lower back and one on your thigh. You whimper at the pressure of his fingers against your spine and inner thigh. Even through your clothes, the contact feels like heaven compared to hell you've been enduring for the last twelve hours.
You lean into his touch - you don't even think about it, you just do it. You rest your head in the crook of his neck, your forehead nuzzling the warm skin of his throat.
You take a deep inhale, attempting to steady your breathing, and you realize quickly that is a mistake - his scent is so euphoric, it feels like inhaling flames.
âWould it make it easier for you if I said that I do want you to give in?â His voice is low, his breath fanning across your face from his position above you.
âFuck, Bucky, you can't say that to me right now,â you whine. You fist your hands into the fabric of his t-shirt, your eyes squint shut.
âLook at me,â he commands. You force your eyes open, pulling your head back enough to look up at him through your eyelashes.
âI want it to be your choice.â He brings a hand up to cup your jawline. His thumb skims the outline of your bottom lip. âBut I would be lying if I said that I'm not relieved that I'm the one here with you, or that I wouldn't enjoy every second of helping you feel better.â
He brings his hands to yours, pulling them away from where they still clutch his shirt. You release your grip, allowing him to hold you by your wrists. He pulls your right hand up to his face, stopping just under his nose. Your brows furrow in confusion, until it dawns on you what it is he's doing.
He inhales deeply, then lowers your hand to his parted mouth. He slips the tips of your index and middle fingers past his lips, and then swirls his tongue around the two digits.
The exact two that had been inside your pussy not even five minutes ago.
Right now, you think you could come from him sucking on your fingers and nothing else.
You don't even try to stop the groan that slips past your lips as you shove your fingers deeper into his mouth. He moans around them as he finishes cleaning them off, the sound sending vibrations up your arm and throughout your body.
You pull your fingers from between his lips and immediately crush your own lips to his in their place. You feel the drug surging through your veins, but this time it's less excruciating - it now feels like pure adrenaline bubbling under your skin, spurring you on.
He opens his mouth to you, your lips and tongue moving with his in synchronicity. It's hurried and messy, and maybe not as romantic as you had imagined it in your head before this night - but it's exactly what you need right now.
He maneuvers you so that you're laying down on the couch, and nestles himself between your thighs. You can feel the hard outline of his erection through the thin material of his sweatpants. He ruts against you, dragging the bulge across your clothed center as he yanks your t-shirt up and over your head. He tosses it somewhere behind the couch before attaching his mouth to one of your nipples and palming the other with the cool metal of his left hand.
You wrap your arms around him, pulling the full weight of his body down against you. You stick your hands up the back of his t-shirt, scratching your nails down the skin of his back.
âI need more,â you gasp out as he pinches your nipple between his teeth, rolling it in his lips. The clothing that separates the two of you feels like a prison. âI need to feel you.â
He pulls away, leaning back to perch on his knees between your legs. Your eyes roam down the chiseled planes of his chest until they land on the defined âVâ shape that disappears into the waistband of his low-hanging pants.
He hooks his fingers into your sweatpants and underwear and tugging them both down past your ankles, then throwing them somewhere across the room with both of your long-forgotten shirts.
His eyes trail your body from your breasts to your thighs, his pupils dilating in the firelight. He splays his hands across the meat of your inner thighs, pinning your legs open wide for him. He lowers himself back down on the couch, belly down so his face hovers just above your pussy.
âBucky, I swear if you don't put your mouthââ
He laughs, a deep, throaty chuckle before his tongue slips between his lips. It darts to your hole, licking a soft strip up to your clit. You exhale a sharp hiss of pleasure, your hands shooting to lace your fingers through tendrils of his hair. You arch into his touch, meeting the thrusts of his tongue with thrusts of your hips. He eats like you're the best thing he's ever tasted - like he's wanted this for way longer than this drug has been in your system.
You're coming on his face in an embarrassing amount of time, really. Thanks to the influence of the pollen, you currently have the stamina and endurance of a teenager losing their virginity. Your thighs are clenched around either side of his head, writhing above him as you ride out your orgasm on his face.
The relief that you feel as you come down from your high feels like years of pent up frustration leaving your body all at once.
You don't quite feel entirely like yourself - there's still a dull ache in your core, and your skinâs still feverish - though that could be due to the fire that the two of you are just feet away from. But you're now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
âCome here,â you whisper, your voice low and honeyed. He crawls over you, his chest brushing against yours as he centers himself above you. His skin shines with a thin layer of sweat that mingles with your own. You reach a hand between your two bodies, palming his erection through the sweatpants that he has yet to shed. You keep your eyes locked on his face, watching as his eyes roll back into his head and his teeth clamp down on his bottom lip as you massage him through the fabric. Your other hand juts down to the waistband of his pants and you tug them downwards, far enough to help him shimmy them down to his knees.
His cock springs forward and he takes himself in his flesh hand, pumping his length several times before teasing your folds with his tip. He collects your slick along his length, lubricating himself before nudging his head just past your entrance.
You're more than ready for him - hours of desperation in addition to already having come on his face leaves you needing no further preparation before he's filling you up with his impressive length and girth. There's a slight burn at the sheer fullness of it, but there's also a wave of relief that your body has been craving for hours.
He pulls out halfway, then rocks back into you. He starts slow - trying to hold back for his own sake or for yours, you're unsure. Gradually, he increases his speed, hitting your cervix at that sweet angle that not everyone knows how to work. You lean forward, raising your head enough to capture his lips in yours once more.
You taste yourself on him - a dichotomy of sweet and salty mixed with something entirely unique. He brings his flesh hand in between your bodies, lowering his fingers to your clit where he begins rubbing pressured circles. You moan his name into his mouth and he responds by biting your lip between his teeth, his movements becoming messier.
âYou gonna come on my cock?â he asks in a low growl when he feels your pussy clenching around him. âGonna fill you up and make you feel all better.â
His words send you tumbling over the edge for the second time - that telltale warm coil in your belly bursting at the same time that he begins spilling his warmth into you.
He collapses, pinning you between his body and the couch beneath you. Starting at your shoulder, he peppers kisses along your collarbones and up your neck until heâs finally eye-level with you.
âWe can do that again,â he says in a breathy voice, still inside you. âIf you need to, that is. Or if you just want you.â There's a mischievous grin spread across his face and a twinkle in his eyes. It's the most carefree you've seen him since the two of you left New York to come here for this mission. You put your hands on his chest, jokingly attempting to shove him away from you.
âOh, I don't think I need to,â you jab at him. âI'm feeling pretty great now, but thank you for your services.â He laughs, pulling out of you and sitting back against the couch. He pulls you up with him, wrapping his flesh arm around your waist and tucking you into his side. âBut I think I might want to again. You know, now that I'm no longer in excruciating pain.â He hums in agreement, stroking his flesh fingers across the side of your stomach.
âI'm glad you were the one here with me too, Bucky."

GIVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE
Here comes another angsty fluffy one-shot request by one of my readers. Featuring everyone's fav doctor, Zayne. Enjoy the story! Warnings: Angst but yes to Comfort
"How can you expect me to do my damn job but also expect me not to be hurt?" You gritted your teeth, eyes shooting daggers into Zayne's side profile. He seemed unbothered by you raising your voice slightly, either he is used to it, or he expected it. Or both.
"Then I would suggest you to quit your job." His words were finalised, no variations in tone or anything. Just a statement, a sentence with a full stop. Your eyes welled up with tears. How could he not understand? To at least give you the benefit of the doubt that accidents would happen in your line of job, but you would do your best to minimise it?
"I won't." You walked over to him and you noticed his head turned slightly to face you. "And I am done with you." You grabbed your bag off of his desk and you darted off towards the front door. Zayne got off of his chair to hold you back but before he could grab your hand, you threw him your statement. "I do not wish to see you ever again. Have a good life."
Zayne was out at a charity event hosted by Akso Hospital, to raise funds for the several orphanages at Linkon City. As usual, he was expected to give a speech in front of the crowd, but instead of being the lead cardiac surgeon for Akso, he shall be giving his speech as one of the biggest donors for this event.
But as of now, his time has yet to come, so he stood at one of the cocktail tables, watching the crowd of unfamiliar faces. Although he is one of the best cardiac surgeons, he was not known to be the friendliest amongst his colleagues so generally, not many people would go up and strike a conversation with him.
He finds his mind wandering, floating from what would be a good post-event dessert to what diagnosis he have yet to complete to you. It has been 6 months since the both of you had contacted one another. Zayne however, had tried to call you after you had left but to no avail. And surprisingly, you blocked him so he had no methods to reach out to you. He could have easily come over to your place, but with Zayne being Zayne, he would not intrude into someone else's property if he was not invited at first glance.
His phone vibrated from the inside of his suit, and he peeled apart the right side of his tailored suit to fish out his phone. He stared at the caller's name for quite a bit. Longer than a few seconds. 'Y/N' flashed on his phone's screen. He pressed the phone to his ear. "Hello."
"Zayne." You were huffing and panting, and he could hear your whimper through the line. "I need... I need your help." You tried to explain, one hand holding the phone to your ears while the other pressed up against the deep gash you have on the side of your hips. "Nobody was picking up... I had no choice..."
Your voice. It was breaking up in between chokes and whimpers and sharp inhales. Zayne knew you were hurt, and this time, it is much more severe than any other times when he was there to tend to your wounds. He knew this was coming. No, not the call. He figured you would uphold your ego so much that you would not reach out to him anymore just to prove him wrong. To prove to him that you could take care of yourself.
But look at you now. He knew that there shall be a day where he would have to treat you when you are at your worst condition. He could imagine you being pushed into the hospital, with tendrils of tubes surrounding your body; to administer blood, nutrients, oxygens and many other fluids that your body requires to achieve a stable condition. His mind got snapped back to reality when you no longer spoke on the other side of the line.
"Stay still." You heard someone talking, unsure whether if it was towards you. "Or else you might end up hurting yourself again."
Your eyelids felt heavy as you slowly opened them, taking in your surroundings. The last moment you remembered was you were at one of the danger zones and you were outnumbered by a couple of wanderers. You managed to defeat them with all of your might and yet they manage to give you a wound so nasty it robbed your ability to stand and walk.
The room that you are currently in does not smell sterile at all. In fact, it smells like a mix of lavender and with hints of coconuts. The room was lit only with lamp decors, the light bouncing off of the pristine white walls, tainting it with a shade of beige. The room is tidy and emits the vibes of a cosy home which reminds you of someone you knew.
"Did the concussion made you lost the ability to listen to simple instructions?" You snapped your head to the right side as you slowly sat yourself up and you could not stop your jaw from dropping mentally. Zayne is seated right next to you, an apple in hand and a knife in another, eyes focused on peeling the skin off of the apple. One of his many acquired skills.
Your palm smoothed over your hip and you winced, facial features scrunched together in pain as you realised how bad your wound is. "What happened?" You choked out, still awaiting for the stinging pain to wear off.
"You called me earlier and through the phone, I could tell that you were terribly injured." He brought the peeled apple up to his face, examining it closely before placing it down and taking the next apple to start peeling its skin off. "So I went over to save you."
"But..." You were embarassed, teeth biting onto your bottom lip. "With what I had done previously... you could have-"
"You called me after six months of not being in contact, and you expect me to do nothing with your calls for help?" He spoke, finally placing the half-peeled apple down onto the ceramic plate, a clink followed as he placed the knife down. He looked towards you, his hazel green eyes are only brown within such a dark room. But you could make out the soft gaze he was giving you. "Does it still hurt?"
Your cheeks were hot, your heartbeat ramping up when he got closer to you. "I will leave once I feel better." He quirked one of his thin eyebrows up, a signal of confusion. "As soon as I can walk, I mean." You turned your face away from him, but this time, his fingers were quick to catch your chin, pulling you back to stare at him.
"I'm afraid that might take a while." He lets go of your chin and pulled down the blanket slightly, enough for him to see the bandage wrapped around your hip, and enough for him to notice the bits of skin showing above your hip given he had to wrap your hips so clothing would only be in the way of his treatment. "Your wounds are quite deep this time around. I had used my evol to freeze and cut out some of the dead tissue but I think rest should be your first priority for now."
"Look, I called you because I couldn't reach out to anyone else okay? I will be out of your hair once all of this," you gestured at your wound. "is fully healed." Your chafed statement made him sighed, his fingers coming up to pinch the bridge of his sculpted nose. "So how long will this take? For me to heal?"
"I'm sorry." He muttered, the voice of his faltered alongside the wind chimes that he had hung by the windows. Your whole body was rigid, staring at the man in front of you, apologising to you out-of-the-blue. "It was selfish of me to ask you to quit your job and to not trust you in protecting yourself."
Your lips could not move, as if you were gagged by his remorse, his guilt, his regrets. Six months passed, and yet you did not took it any easier than him despite you were the one who chose to leave him and to never look back. You were the one who blocked him from contacting you entirely, you were the one who thought that he would at least cared about your passion for your work.
However, as a matter-of-fact, you can never forget about him. You always find yourself taking the long way home, purposely passing by Akso Hospital just to catch a glimpse of him. On lucky days, maybe you could catch him from a far distance, getting off of work. On unlucky days, you could still catch his black sedan car parked within the staff columns.
"When you called me, I expected the worst." Zayne's side profile is the only thing you could see now. "I tried contacting you after you had left, but the dial tone always ends, so I assumed that you have blocked me." Hearing how he had tried to reach out to you, your gut twisted, adding on to the pain that you are experiencing physically. "But I would understand if you would want to rest alone at your house instead of mine. I can schedule to send you back home tomorrow before I head off to the hospital."
"Zayne, I, I just couldn't believe it when you asked me to quit my job..." You trailed off, your eyes drooped as you felt your tears weighing them down. "I thought you would have known better that I am a deepspace hunter and that I will always be putting my life on the line."
Zayne leaned over, his shadow loomed over your figure and he placed his hand on the top of your head, slowly smoothing your hair behind your back. His touch was gentle, soothing to your skin. "And I should have trusted you instead of asking you to quit." You can feel the heat radiating from both of his hands cupping your cheeks, your face probably the size of an egg within his grasp. "When you were away, I find myself thinking about you and your safety a lot."
You agreed, your hand coming up to cup over his. The difference between both of your hands always a surprise to you. "I can't help but to want you as well, Zayne." His thumb caught the tear that streamed down your cheeks and he wiped it off. "I am sorry too, for having to walk out on you and on this relationship."
"Now, you should allow yourself to rest." Zayne's lips curled up into a small encouraging smile. He laid you down onto the bed slowly, hovering over you. "Would you still like me to fetch you back home tomorrow?" The shake of your head made him sighed in relief. "Then you should stay here, where I am capable of taking care of you." He peered down at you, his gentle gaze contradictory to his chiseled facial features. "Not only till you get better, but for the future too." The man then leaned down to claim your lips in a soft and longing kiss.

Surprise
Summary: Y/n has been keeping a secret from Emily and hasnât had the opportunity to tell her wife. The secret is revealed not in the way you had hoped but sometimes the unexpected can be perfect.
Warnings: Talks about miscarriages, fertility struggles and pregnancy in general. Small allusion to smut but no actual smut.
A/N: Hello again, itâs been a bit since Iâve posted anything but this is my first Emily Prentiss x reader. This is set when Emily is Unit Chief and wonât follow any specific episode. I hope you all enjoy it :))
â--------------------------------------------
You loved your wife. More than anything else in the world. But since becoming the BAUâs Unit Chief a couple months ago she was a lot busier. Whether it was paperwork or meetings, she had a lot on her plate.
You werenât mad or upset, if anything you were incredibly proud. But you still missed your wife, even though you worked with her everyday.
You had both adjusted pretty quickly to her new workload and always made sure to spend time with one another as much as possible. But this week had been particularly bad. She would mostly be out of the house before you even woke up or leaving as you started to get ready. Then sheâd be in her office hours after the team went home.
You knew it was just going to be one of those weeks and you just had be there to support you wife if she needed anything.
Youâd been feeling sick all week and at first you had put it down to something youâd ate. But as the week went on, so did the nausea and the body aches.
If it had been a normal week Emily would have noticed immediately. But with how busy she was, she really only saw you when you were in bed or in passing at work.
You hadnât thought much else about the sickness you had been feeling until yesterday morning. Emily had just left the house when you got up. As you walked towards the kitchen the smell of coffee had set you off and caused you to sprint into the bathroom and empty the contents of your stomach.
Thatâs when it hit you. You had wrapped a case the week before in Idaho and hadnât even noticed that your period was late. And not just a little, by almost 2 months. It all started to make sense.
You and Emily have been married for four years and decided that you were both ready to expand your family. Youâd both picked out a sperm donor that had similar looks to Emily and had been trying for a baby for months now.
You were lucky to have a positive test come back fairly fast and Emily was ecstatic. The idea of you growing her child inside you made her so happy.
So when you had a doctors appointment to confirm everything, you were both heartbroken to find out that it was a false positive.
That night you had sobbed in Emilyâs arms while she too cried and held you tightly to her chest, whispering reassuring words into your ear. You knew that it was only the first try and that it was unlikely to happen anyway. But it still hurt, you were so close.
Since then you had tried multiple times but the test kept coming back negative. It was soul destroying to both of you. You had blamed yourself and thought that there was something wrong with your body. Emily made sure to reassure you that it wasnât but it was still hard.
So you tried not to get too excited while waiting for the pregnancy tests that sat on the counter. The happiness that flooded your body when all three came up positive was overwhelming and the tears started running.
But thereâs was still something in the back of your mind that told you that it wasnât real and it was just more false positives.
Luckily you didnât start until 10am and had plenty of time to book a last minute blood test. The joy you felt when it confirmed what you and Emily had been hoping for was one of the greatest feelings.
Now you just had to figure out the best way to tell your wife. As it was now Friday and finally the end of the week, you thought that it was the perfect night to tell her. And frankly you didnât know how much longer you could keep it in.
You had sneaked out and bought a cute little onesie and planned on leaving it on your bed with the positive pregnancy tests. It was a simple idea but thatâs all you wanted.
You were barely able to focus on your work all day and swore the day couldnât have gone any slower. As the team slowly started filtering out and wishing you a good weekend you started to get anxious.
Emily was still in her office doing paperwork and was so focused she didnât even realise the team had left.
Making your way up to her office you knocked and slipped in without waiting for an answer. Emilyâs head shot up ready to reprimand someone for entering her office without permission. But the moment her eyes me yours her entire face softened.
âHey babyâ she said as you made your way around her desk to stand in front of her. âEverything okay?â
âYea, I just miss my wifeâ you smiled leaning down to peck her lips.
Emily smiled into the kiss and you could feel tension start to leave her body at the small contact.
âWell I miss you moreâ she pulled you down to straddle her lap. Her arms snake around your waist pulling you closer and her hands start to rub soothing circles on your lower back. Instinctively your arms found there way around her neck and your fingers gently play with the hair at the back of her neck.
âIâm sorry I havenât been home much this week"
âItâs okayâ you reassure her. âI get it, youâve got a job to do and not every week is like this week. It will get better. Plus I know youâll make it up to me laterâ
She sees the smirk on your face and her hands move to squeeze your hips.
âOh I promise I will, you can count on itâ she smirks back with a mischievous glint in her eyes. âIâm pretty much done here if youâre ready to head home? Maybe I can start making it up to you when we get there?â
âThat sounds amazingâ you smile tightly getting a rush of nerves at the thought of the onesie laying on your bed at home.
âHey, you okay baby?â Emily of course notices your body language change immediately. Concern laces her face and her brows furrow. âDid something happen?â
âNo of course notâ your too quick to reassure her. âWell, sort of but nothing for you to worry aboutâ
You really should have just left the last part off but youâre practically bursting wanting to tell her.
âWhat do you mean? Did someone say something to you? Because you know i'm unit chief now, if anyone-â
âBabe, no one said anythingâ
âWell something happened, Iâm not gonna stop worrying until you tell me what it isâ her hand moves to caress your cheek and you canât help but lean into her touch. God she was your weakness. âTalk to me babyâ
âEmâŚâ
âIs this about my workload, cause I meant what I said. Iâm sorry about this week, I just-â
âEmily, itâs not about this week. I told you I get itâ
âWell then what is it? I can tell somethings offâ
âEm itâs about usâ
âThe two of us?â Her face is full of confusion which quickly turns to concern for your relationship.
âThe three of usâ you place her hand on top of your stomach and cover it with your own. âIâm pregnant babyâ
âYouâre pregnant?â You swear you can feel her heart stop for a brief moment.
âIâm pregnantâ you confirm tears forming in your eyes.
For a moment youâre unsure of her reaction, she just sits there stunned. It definitely wasnât the news she was expecting.
Before you can think much more about it here lips are on yours as she gives you a loving and passionate kiss. She pulls your body impossibly closer as tears start to stream down both your faces.
She pulls back to look at you, her hand and yours still resting against your stomach.
âI love you so muchâ she kisses you again.
âI love you tooâ
âWhen did you find out? Please tell me you havenât been holding out on me for too long because of workâ
âI only found out yesterday morning, I was feeling sick all week but I didnât think much of itâ her eyes never leave yours as you talk. âI didnât even realise I was late until yesterday too. So I took a bunch of tests and they all came back positiveâ
âAnd theyâre not-â
âNoâ you interrupt her before any more doubt can flood her mind. âI got a last minute blood test yesterday too. Iâm sorry I didnât tell you first but I didnât want to get your hopes up if it was another false positiveâ
âOh honey, you could have told me anywayâ her face softens. âWeâre in this together, remember?â
âI know, I just wanted it to be perfect when I told youâ you gesture with your hand âthis is not the way I planned on telling you. Thereâs a onesie sitting on our bed at homeâ
âThis was perfectâ she reassures you leaning in to place a kiss on your lips.
âIâm almost seven weeksâ you see her smile grow. âYou know Iâm surprised you havenât noticed yet, my boobs are already getting bigger.â
Her eyes flick down to your breasts and her lips twitch into a smirk.
âYou know considering how much you love to touch themâ you giggle.
âWell they are magnificentâ she defends reaching to give them a gentle squeeze making you moan lightly. âGod I love you, thank you for carrying our child and making us momsâ
âIâd do it twenty times if it made you happyâ you smile. âOkay maybe not twenty but you know what I meanâ
âI know babyâ she laughs. âYou wanna head home now? Show me that onesie you bought?â
âThat sounds perfectâ you hop off her lap and intertwine your hand with hers as she stands. âYou know Iâm a little sore, I could do with a bubble bath with my wife. Seeing as the unit chief needs to make it up to meâ
âI think that can be arrangedâ she smirks leaning in to captures your lips.

Little soulmates
Mapi LeĂłn x Ingrid Engen x pregnant!Reader
summary~ After going through IVF with the loves of your life you get pregnant. They are nothing but supportive, helping you with everything. When the boys are born they look just like your lovers.
The three of you have always had a baby wish. Looking at Mapi playing with the kids of your friends and Ingrid sitting with a sleeping baby in her arms made your heart warm. They would be perfect mothers.
Both Ingrid and Mapi played football but you didnât. They were in their prime time so the most logical thing was for you to carry the baby. You were still young, you 21, Ingrid 25 and Mapi 28. You didnât want to wait. Youâve found your soulmates. Luckily you didnât want to do anything but that, carrying a child of your lovers was something magical.
You agreed to do IVF, choosing a donor that looked a bit like both of them. Brown hair like the Spaniard, green eyes like the Norwegian and freckles like both of your lovers.
The doctors said that you shouldnât get your hopes up, the first try almost always doesnât work. But that was hard. Both of your girlfriends were there when they did indeed told you that the first attempt had failed.
They were there when you cried in the doctors office, when you were silent on the ride home and even when you cried yourself to sleep between the two of them.
Ofcourse they were heartbroken too but they needed to be there for you. You were going through hormonal changes and that made you feel things. The only thing they could do for you was be there. So when the morning came and you woke up, they were there. When you tried again, they were there.
And eventually, when you got pregnant, they were there. Mapi was absolutely over the moon, hugging you and kissing all over your face. Ingrid couldnât help but smile at the silliness of Mapi and kissed you on your head. âWeâre gonna have a baby!â Mapi cried and ran across the room to her phone, calling her mom.
While Mapi was telling her mom the news Ingrid kissed you over and over again. âI canât believe weâre gonna be moms, y/n i love you so much. I canât believe it.. A mini Mapi or you!!â she hugged you. âOr a mini Ingrid.â you laughed.
Just when you thought Mapi couldnât get more excited you got the news that you were having twins. She was switching between jumping around the room and kissing you stomach all while Ingrid hugged you from behind and kissed your cheek.
Later on you got the news that it was twin boys. You didnât really prefer one sex over the other so the three of you were happy. Ingrid started searching for names immediately.
She really liked Noah and Theodore while Mapi loved the Spanish names Mateo and Hugo. You still had a few months to go so you didnât really got into the whole name thing, you decided that that was up to your lovers unless you thought the names were ugly.
When you reach your second trimester the three of you decided to tell the team. Ingrid and Mapi couldnât wait to tell them so when they finally could they were beyond excited.
It was a Tuesday afternoon, just after training when the team got called into the canteen. Mapi took it as her responsibility to tell everyone. âHola chicas! Both of my pretty girlfriends are here as you can see. The reason for that is because one of them is carrying my two sons!â she yelled. âOur two sons!â Ingrid corrected.
The whole team came flying towards you. But before anyone could get near you Mapi stopped them protectively. âSheâs carrying our bebĂŠs so be careful!â she warned them.
You knew it was time share the news with the rest of the world, you couldnât hide your pregnant belly much longer.

Halfway through the pregnancy you really started to feel the effects that it had on your body. Your whole body was sore, the cravings you had were just weird and those moodswings⌠Both of your girlfriends tried to help you in any way possible. Mapi massaged your feet while Ingrid tried to massage the knots away in your shoulders. When you were craving something again, even at night or very early in the morning Ingrid would drive to the store to get it to you as soon as possible.
The moodswings however were harder. Whenever you were watching a movie, your head on Ingrids chest while Mapi traced paterns on your stomach. You couldnât help but cry at the sad scene on your television. âHey hey.. amor, why are you crying?â Mapi would ask you. You shook you head and answered âI donât know, i just canât stop crying.â. Ingrid and Mapi would share a smile and comfort you until you felt better.

Mapi was so proud and wanted to show you off to everyone while Ingrid just wanted you to herself. Ingrid knew that it wasnât long before everyone wanted to see you and their babyâs so she wanted to enjoy every single moment.
While Ingrid cherished every moment and every bit of you, Mapi couldnât keep her hands off you. She had always loved your ass and tits but now that youâre pregnant she loved them even more. When you walked next to her she made sure to have a hand on the small of your back and eventually a little lower so it rested on your ass. The Spaniard also loved to cuddle you from behind, taking your tits into her hands.
Ingrid loved your stomach, the idea of one of her girlfriends carrying her babies made her so proud and happy. Your taller girlfriend also loved to hug you from behind, taking your belly into her hands, lifting it up for you and holding some of the weight. She knew you liked it so it only made her happy to do it for you, even when her arms started to cramp.
You were 37 weeks pregnant pregnant when your water broke. It wasnât the most ideal moment. Your girlfriend were playing the el classico, one of the most important games of the season.
It was the 76th minute, you were talking to Alexia, Jana and Frido, since they were injured. It was then that you felt the wetness. You looked down but couldnât really see anything because of your round belly.
Jana was the first one to notice and went straight into stress mode. âOh my god! Y/n your fucking water just broke, what are we doing?â she asked you. You looked up at Alexia who was sat with wide eyes. She needed a moment to process it all but came to her senses eventually.
âJana you need to find Jonatan. Frido and I will take y/n to my car and drive her to the hospital.â she ordered. Jana went running onto the field and told Jonatan the news.
Both of your lovers had joked about you delivering the twins while they were playing a game but you told them that that wouldnât happen. But you were wrong. Ofcourse they wanted to come out now.
Alexia carried you to her car and went straight to the hospital. She sped through traffic and youâre impressed that she didnât cause a crash on the way.
Arriving at the hospital Alexia and Frido ran out of her car and into the hospital. You thought that theyâd forgotten you and they probably did. But Frido came back with a wheelchair. She put you, still dressed in your Barca jersey and soaked trousers, in the wheelchair.
Before you knew it you were in a hospital room already. The doctors were asking you questions you couldnât even answer, you needed your girlfriends. Where were they?
The door flew open and there they were, the two stressed faces of your lovers. Ingrid ran to you and kissed your head, asking you if you were okay. Mapi just stood there, in complete shock. You could see the sweat on her forehead, she looked like sheâd just seen a ghost.
âMaria Pilar Leon, iâm pushing your kids out so help me out here!â you yelled. That took her out of her trance and she stood next to you, holding your hand.
It was painful and hard but with Ingrid and Mapi by your side it was a little better. Ingrid kissed your forehead and combed through your hair with her hands. She was whispering encouraging words and telling you it would be alright, like she always did.
Mapi was another story, the women was beyond stressed. The colour had drained from her face and she was shaking, you were not sure if that was because you were gripping her hand so tightly or if it was just that she was about to see her boys.
It was about five hours later when your first baby decided to arrive. Mapi fainted and Ingrid started crying happy tears. They placed the first boy in Ingrids arms since Mapi wasnât really available.
Minutes later, when your Spanish lover was with you again, the second boy arrived. The baby was placed in Mapiâs arms and you couldnât help but smile at the sight. There they were, it was perfect. The loves of your life holding your babies.
Later when everyone was a bit more stable Alexia, Jana and Frido came in. Alexia started crying and hugged Mapi telling her how happy she was for all of you. Jana sat next to you and told you all about the game and how Mapi and Ingrid reacted to the news. Frido walked over to Ingrid who handed her one of your sons.

After two days in the hospital you finally got to go home. Mapi was driving, you in the passenger seat and Ingrid in the back with the boys. Youâve never seen Mapi drive so slow. You giggled at the memory of Mapi driving way over the speed limit just months ago. The brown eyed women noticed this and asked you what you were thinking about. âJust how youâre so careful ever since i got pregnant. Youâve really gone full mom mode.â Ingrid laughed at your remark. Mapi looked in one of the many mirrors she installed over the last few months âIâll never let anything happen to any of you.â.
Your two footballers got a few weeks off and spent every moment with you and the boys. They loved walking the boys around the city, showing them everything even though they didnât really pay attention.

Theo was a little angel, just like your Norwegian lover. He was always sleeping, even smiling now and then. Mateo on the other hand was just like his other mommy. He didnât want to sleep, was very clingy and loved to roll his eyes. Even though the two of them were complete opposites they were really attached to each other.

Even though you had carried them for almost a year, the twins started to look more like your lovers by the day. Not only on the outside but on the inside too. They were surprisingly tall for their age, just like Ingrid, they have Mapiâs hair and their faces were just the two faces of your football players combined.
When they were two they really started to get into football, always kicking a ball around the house, even when you told them not to. They ran onto the field after every game, wanting to play with their tĂas. They were destined to be footballers.

You were woken by the sound of bells ringing.Â
There was no bell system at the Haven for patients to alert that they needed attention - though in the part of your mind that wasnât focused on getting dressed, it wasnât a bad idea - so that wasnât what had launched you out of bed before you had fully woken up.Â
No, the bells were the temporary, low-cost security system you had put into place when Silco had pulled his guards away from the Haven.Â
Since Silco had decided to use the knowledge of your connection to destroy your life, you had never been sure what the security guards were there to do. Were they a parting gift, meant to console you as you adjusted to a less-protected life in the Undercity? Were they meant to keep an eye on you and report back to Silco? Were they just waiting until the most devastating possible moment to leave?Â
It was your best guess that the last possibility was closest to the truth. HexTech had taken over financial support of the Haven after most of the other donors had withdrawn their contributions, but they were a young company. They didnât have the money to support themselves and pay for external expenses like security guards. You had just been thrilled to be funded, so you had agreed to those terms.Â
A little over a week later, Silco had pulled his security guards from the Haven.Â
One of the two in-house doctors had resigned the next day. His safety could not be guaranteed without guards. The other doctor had stayed, but he was running himself ragged trying to help all the patients through withdrawal alone.
The original Haven staff would have been able to help - most of them had seen enough to function as makeshift medics when absolutely necessary - but they had long since left. The scandal of you accepting donations from Silco had been too much for most of them, and the others hadnât been able to handle the increased stress of the new workload.Â
In short, the Haven was still afloat, but you were left trying to cover large gaps in staffing, services, and security. Hence the bells.Â
You had installed bells over every external door to the Haven, plus a few trip wires and pressure plates that would ring a bell in your room if they were set off. Residents and the new staff knew where the wires and plates were so they could avoid activating them. It wasnât a particularly elegant system, but it was enough for you to know when someone was in the Haven who didnât belong there.Â
As was currently the case.Â
A baseball bat was your only protection as you moved down the stairs as quietly as possible. There was a dim light coming from under the door in the front room, the door slightly ajar. That was what had set off the bells in your room, then.Â
With the baseball bat up and over your shoulder, you gently toed the door open and stepped inside.Â
You halted almost immediately, startled by the way you had been greeted by name. âYi? Fletcher?âÂ
Fletcher had rushed toward you, handsome face happy, but he paused before he got within touching distance of you. âAre you okay? Whatâs with the bat?âÂ
âWe donât have security anymore,â you explained shortly. âNever knew when someone is going to break in.âÂ
âThatâs why weâre here,â Yi explained. âThe lack of security, not to break in.âÂ
Your tired brain was struggling to make sense of that. âWhat-? What does that mean?âÂ
âCan we sit down?â a vaguely familiar young man requested. You hadnât spotted him behind Yi and Fletcher, but he seemed to be the last member of the group.
Wordlessly, you motioned them through the door into the kitchen, then followed them inside as they sat at the small table at one side of the room.Â
âWe heard the Haven doesnât have security anymore,â Yi explained. âWe all wanted to come back and help out.âÂ
âWhy?â you asked, helpless to disguise the suspicion in your voice.Â
The familiar man glanced at Yi and Fletcher, then spoke. âI donât know if you remember me, maâam. I was part of the security detail that Silco assigned to the Haven.âÂ
You secrets had been laid bare, exposed before the entirety of Piltover, but you still cringed at the casual way he announced your connection to Silco. âYes, I remember you. You were fairly new. I donât know if I ever met you officially.âÂ
âOkkan,â he volunteered, offering his hand for you to shake. âNice to officially meet you, then.âÂ
âLikewise, as long as Silco didnât send you so he could have someone inside of the Haven,â you countered, voice a little too sharp to be considered polite.
Okkanâs face grew grave. âItâs too late for that. Heâs had people here all along. If you havenât seen him here yet, itâs because he hasnât wanted you to.âÂ
Fletcher touched gentle fingertips to Okkanâs arm. âThatâs probably not as helpful as you meant it to be.âÂ
With a sheepish grimace, Okkan nodded. âIâm sorry, that was supposed to prove that you can trust me. My point is, Silco has no reason to send me here as a plant since he already has people doing that. I donât work for him anymore.â
âThen why are you here?âÂ
Okkan shrugged. âThis is the right thing to do.âÂ
You hummed suspiciously, glancing at Fletcher and Yi. âAnd you two?âÂ
âI need to make sure my boyfriend doesnât die fighting off anyone who might attack the Haven,â Fletcher told you. Yi and Okkan both snorted - Fletcherâs skills with combat were as limited as everyone elseâs, but augmented with a rich vein of jumpiness and a hatred of blood and dirt.Â
Yi answered your question with ease, offering it as soon as your eyes rested on her. âI like an underdog.âÂ
You sighed, trying to bury the surge of relief coursing through you. It wasnât fair to take advantage of them. At least, unless they specifically knew what they were agreeing to.Â
âIf youâre looking for a fight, there are good odds youâll find it here,â you warned. âSilco has made it clear that he considers the Haven a detriment to his plans for the Undercity. I havenât seen any signs of an attack yet, but the fact that he pulled the security guards away from here is hardly a good sign. I need to know that youâre aware of the dangers of being here. More importantly, that you know the dangers of being on my side.Â
âWe all know,â Yi assured you. âOkkan was very blunt about the things he saw as part of Silcoâs crew.âÂ
âMore importantly, we know you,â Fletcher insisted. âYou were always good to everyone, even those who didnât deserve it. Thatâs worth something, even if everyone in the city seems to have forgotten it.âÂ
You nodded. It seemed like the safest choice. You didnât trust your voice not to crack if you tried to speak.Â
By the time you had stood from your chair and crossed to the door, you had recovered enough to say, âYouâre welcome to stay, then. Pick any rooms in the employee quarters. Most of it is empty, so you have options. Goodnight. Thank you.âÂ
â
Unfortunately, the new arrivals didnât have to wait long for the fight you had promised.Â
The break-in happened at night. You had always suspected that it would - after all, that was the time of day when the Undercity residents were the most active.Â
The chiming of the bells was desperate and chaotic, nearly masked by the scuffing feet you could hear throughout the first floor of the building. You had been awake late, sacrificing hours of sleep in favor of writing grant requests and reports for the few grants you had left. The Havenâs progress had slowed significantly since your association with Silco had been made public, and you were struggling to frame the work you had done in the most positive light possible.Â
You had drilled every resident of the Haven with what the sound of the bells meant. All the doors on the lower floors were locked when you ran down the stairs, clenching the grip of your bat in your fist. If even one of the residents managed to remember what you had taught them to do, they were trying to contact the Enforcers.
There were more intruders than you could hope to take on alone. Getting an accurate count was impossible in the gloom, but you counted at least eight. They saw you immediately, watching as you came to a stop a few stairs above the ground floor.Â
You cleared your throat, letting the bat dangle at your side. âWhat do you want?âÂ
âShimmer.âÂ
The answer - called from somewhere in the crowd - made you snort rudely. âYou seem to have missed the fact that this is an anti-Shimmer establishment.âÂ
âAddictions are treated with microdoses of the drug,â one of them pointed out. âWeâre here for any Shimmer you have.âÂ
âWell-informed,â you noted. âExcept that Shimmer addictions canât be treated with the drug. It takes over the central nervous system, even in small amounts. There is no Shimmer here, microdoses or otherwise.âÂ
âThen maybe weâll tear this place down,â another threatened. âThatâll send a message to Silco.âÂ
Your heart was in your throat, but you did your best to keep it from being too obvious. âAnd why would you do that? In case you hadnât heard, Silco doesnât have anything to do with this place. Not anymore.âÂ
âNo, but he did.â One woman stepped forward, eyeing you suspiciously. âThe Shimmer left this place all at once. It was right around when Silco gave you that money. I think thatâs important. It means something.âÂ
You stared at her. âYou are too smart to waste your mind on Shimmer. But no, it doesnât mean anything. Silco bribed me with money. He didnât need to get rid of Shimmer to bribe me a second time.âÂ
âSilco is part of this place,â a large man told you. âEither he hates you and wants it destroyed or he still cares and losing it would make him weak.âÂ
âYou should probably figure out whether youâre trying to give the drug lord a gift or a threat before you do it,â you warned, tightening your grip on the bat. âHeâs erratic at the best of times, and you might not like the reaction you get.âÂ
From the dissatisfied murmur of the crowd, that was a valid point, but one they didnât want to acknowledge. You werenât sure how to proceed. Letting them tear down the Haven wasnât an option, but telling them to leave might be the thing that pushed them into violence.Â
The decision was taken away from you when someone grabbed the baseball bat, using it to tow you forward. You stumbled down the stairs, catching yourself only to be pulled into the depths of the crowd. The baseball bat was ripped away from you almost immediately, thrown to clatter across the room.Â
Immediately, there were shouts of encouragement to kill you. Your pulse was roaring in your ears and you struggled to hear past it. The crowd seemed to agree that Silco may or may not care about the Haven, but he certainly didnât seem to like you.Â
You tried to free yourself - it would be stupid not to, when they were audibly planning your death. But there were so many hands. Hands on your hips, hands on your waist, hands on your arms. All of them gripped you tightly, leaving bruises in your skin. You could only hope you would live long enough for them to heal.Â
âKill her,â the large man ordered. He was the loudest, which you assumed made him some kind of authority in a crowd like this. âEveryone else, strip this place for anything you can find. Burn the rest.âÂ
âShould she die fast?â the woman who had spoken earlier asked. The way her eyes studied you sent a chill up your spine. âOr slow?âÂ
âSlow.âÂ
The hands squeezed tighter, trying to lead you deeper into the Haven. You fought them, squirming and kicking as you shouted for them to leave you alone.Â
âLet her go!âÂ
Yiâs voice was the sweetest thing you had ever heard. A close second was when she swung your confiscated bat into the knee of the groupâs leader.
He screamed in pain, dropping to the floor. One of the people holding you glared up at Yi. âYou canât fight all of us. Not and win.âÂ
âWe arenât looking for a fight,â Okkan countered. You searched around the room for a moment before you found him standing in front of the door that led to the residentsâ rooms. âBetween the three of us, we can stop any hope of whatever you all planned to do.âÂ
For a wild moment, you thought he was counting you as one of the three people who would stop the fight, but you were still held firmly in place. Okkan nodded toward the stairs and you saw Fletcher there, holding another gun.Â
Yi brandished her bat, holding it over her shoulder as if ready to take her next swing. Fletcher was aiming his small handgun at the crowd, hands steady. Okkan was holding a gun that looked almost as big as he was. It looked dangerous, and not purely because of its size.Â
Okkan cocked the gun loudly, aiming at the crowd. âTime for you to leave.âÂ
âFine, weâll go,â the leader said, standing. It was clear that putting weight on his leg was painful, but he was still an imposing figure. âBut weâre taking her with us.âÂ
To your surprise, a gunshot came from the top of the stairs, putting a neat hole in the doorframe beside one of your would-be kidnappers.Â
Yi twirled the bat in her hand. âNo.âÂ
âThat was your only warning,â Okkan explained, a menacing smile shining bright in the gloomy room.Â
The attackers were gone in a moment, leaving you sprawled on the floor. Ridiculously, the first thing that came to mind was, âFletcher, I didnât know you could shoot that well.âÂ
Fletcher grinned. âIâm not very threatening and I canât fight. How else did you think I survived in the Undercity so long?âÂ
You were spared the need to respond when Okkan helped you to your feet. âWe need to prepare for another attack.âÂ
You frowned, running your thumb over the fresh bullet hole in your doorframe. âAre you sure? It seems like you all scared them pretty badly.âÂ
Okkan shook his head. âThose people broke in. Theyâre not part of Silcoâs group. If random people on the street feel safe breaking into the Haven, that means that word about Silcoâs lack of protection has spread. The attacks are just going to happen more often from here. And theyâre more likely to get more violent, as well.â
âI donât have the money for security,â you reminded him. Much as you tried to keep the state of the Havenâs finances from Okkan, Fletcher, and Yi, they had picked it up over the previous weeks.Â
âBut there are other things we can do,â Yi argued. âMove more people into the upper floors, gather together the ones who canât climb stairs. Weâll put a sturdier door between their rooms and the main areas. One person on guard would be able to lock the door when thereâs a break-in.âÂ
âAnd a few more guns wouldnât be a bad idea,â Fletcher told you, locking the safety on his own handgun.Â
You nodded. âLetâs get it done.âÂ
â
The changes you were making to the Haven werenât exactly secret, especially since Yi, Okkan, and Fletcher told anyone and everyone that there were even more security advancements to come.Â
You knew what it was - posturing. By talking openly about the defenses in place and positioning themselves as guardians of the Haven, they were discouraging people from attacking without doing so in a way that would seem too close to a dare.Â
It was clever, though you all knew that moving patients, adding a door, and buying additional weapons were the extent of your security planning. Still, it seemed to be working. Two weeks had passed since the break-in and you hadnât had a scare in that time. Maybe any would-be attackers were waiting for you to get comfortable and lax, but you were hopeful that the Haven simply seemed like more trouble than it was worth.Â
All of your optimism disappeared in an instant as you stepped into your office late one night. You couldnât keep up the pace you had been, but you were fairly certain you could manage one more night of grant-writing before you collapsed into an exhausted heap.Â
The figure sitting at your desk made you jump, though the lit lamp on your desk should have been the first clue that you had a visitor.Â
âClose the door, pet,â Silco commanded. âWe need to talk.â
You dropped your hand from where it had reflexively pressed over your heart. It was difficult to glare at someone when they could see how badly they had just frightened you. âIâve already said everything I needed to say, Silco. And youâve already said everything I was willing to listen to.âÂ
He smirked. âI have missed your backbone, darling.âÂ
âThatâs nice.â You pointedly held the door open, waiting for him to leave.Â
Instead, Silco sat forward, leaning his elbows on the surface of your deks so he could study you more intently. âYou can imagine how relieved I was to hear that you survived the first attack on the Haven.âÂ
You didnât remember closing the door, but the sound of it slamming beside you was unmistakable. âFirst.âÂ
Silco nodded at the word you had repeated. âI am certain you are clever enough to know that more attacks will come.âÂ
âAnd Iâm sure your memory is good enough to remember that this is the second time the Haven has been attacked,â you countered. âHowever, we handled this one far more effectively than the last.âÂ
Silco inclined his head in a silent concession of your point. âYou defended yourselves admirably. But will you manage the same next time? And the time after?âÂ
âIâm sure thereâs a purpose to this conversation.â You glanced outside of the window, using the brightness of the neon signs against the darkening sky to gauge the time. âThe Last Drop must be open by now. You have a business to run and I need to get back to mine. Make your point.â
âI am here to offer my assistance, of course,â Silco said smoothly. âIt would be simple enough to reassign a security detail to the Haven.â
Your laugh was unintentional, but you didnât mind it. It was a sharp, ugly sound, leaving no doubt about the sincerity of your amusement. âConsidering all of this started because of you, I canât say Iâm inclined to accept your help.âÂ
Silco tilted his head, a dangerous flash of irritation crossing his face. âI am not the one who tried to defect to Piltover.â
âDefect?â you repeated. âMuch as you want to believe in it, Zaun isnât a real, recognized city. Right now, this place is just the lower half of Piltover - looked down on by the Upper City, if they think of it at all. And you ensured that they have no representation in the government.âÂ
âWe do not need the scraps that Piltover deigns to give us,â Silco decreed. âWe will demand the respect and status we are owed, as full equals.â
âAnd when will that happen?â You shook your head. âI think, if it were possible, you would have done it by now. Piltover is unaffected by the horrors of life in the Undercity, as strong as it ever was. More so, actually, if HexTechâs plans work out. Meanwhile, the people of the Undercity are eroded by pollution, mine accidents, and Shimmer. If there was ever a time when the Undercity could demand anything, it passed a long time ago.âÂ
Silco snarled. âThe people of Zaun were cowed by their failures when they should have used them to spur renewed efforts. The next generation-âÂ
âThe one who survives on the scraps that Piltover deigns to give the Undercity?â The sigh that escaped you was less irritated than you hoped, sounding almost mournful. âThey are fighting too hard to survive to worry about a revolution.âÂ
âZaun-â Silco paused, visibly collecting himself. He smoothed his hair back as he stepped around the corner of your desk. âI have diverted from my original point. Regardless of the myriad reasons we find ourselves here, I believe we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement.âÂ
You snorted. âHave you forgotten how our last âmutually beneficial agreementâ went?âÂ
The back of Silcoâs fingers brushed lightly down the length of your arm. You tracked their progress before looking up at Silco, who was watching you with heavy-lidded eyes. âDarling, I have thought of little else these past weeks.âÂ
Suddenly, there didnât seem to be enough air in the room. The instant your lips parted around a shaky breath, Silco closed the gap between you.
The touch of his lips against yours was achingly familiar and your body relaxed into the kiss without asking permission from your mind. And considering that he avoided kissing you as long as he had, Silco was shockingly good at it. He knew when to push, when to let you lead, and when to encourage you to deepen the kiss.Â
And, to your dismay, you did exactly that.Â
Somewhere along the line, the kiss had turned into something deep and desperate. Your hands roamed across his body as his did the same to yours. He felt wonderfully solid beneath your searching fingers, and you finally admitted to yourself that you had missed him.Â
Perhaps it was because you had trained your body to expect to be fully satiated at least once a month for longer than you had ever expected. Perhaps it was because such a long time had passed since you had been touched by anyone else. Perhaps - unlikely and abhorrent as it was - you had started to grow fond of Silco.Â
In any case, you gasped when his trailing fingers skated over the curve of one breast, rubbing unerringly against your nipple before he continued on a steady path downward. You pulled away from him when you heard the desperation of your moan, the fresh air of the room hitting you like a dash of cold water.Â
âNo,â you murmured, repeating it louder when Silco started to tow you back to him. When had you entangled your fingers with his? âNo, this isnât- We have to stop.âÂ
âWhy would we ever do something so foolish?â Silco asked, reluctantly letting your fingers slip out from between his. âI have missed you, pet. Have you not missed me?âÂ
âYou-â You cleared your throat. âYou came here for a reason, Silco. You were going to make me an offer of some kind. What was it?âÂ
âI have already made my offer,â he reminded you, dual gaze piercing. âI will reassign security to the Haven.â
You nodded slowly. âAnd what are you asking in return?âÂ
Silco spread his hands out to either side of himself. âRenewed access to your delectable body, of course.âÂ
Of course. As if it were clear without explanation, undeniable and irresistible. And it nearly was, damn him. You could keep the Haven safe, protect your people. In return, you only had to give him something you wanted him to have, anyway.Â
You swayed.Â
It was an ugly trait for a philanthropist, someone determined to minimize the amount of evil that existed in the world. Your ideals were so high, but you were only human. You wanted nothing more than to let Silco slake the terrible thirst that had overtaken your body. You wanted to fall back into the routine you had become so accustomed to. It would be so easy, so safe, so familiar. You ached for it.Â
But at the same time, the thought of it made you recoil. For all that your relationship with Silco had gone better than expected - mostly because you had expected to die at the end - youâd had plenty of time to analyze it since your life had started to spiral. Your time together had gone as smoothly as it had because there was a profound power imbalance between you. When issues came up, they were resolved because you were paying him to keep Shimmer out of the Havenâs neighborhood.Â
Yes, you could go back to the way things had been, but you would never find a better reason to leave. And this time, things could very well end with your death. Was this how you wanted to spend the rest of your life? Fearful and subservient because you missed sleeping with a chem baron?
Your shoulders eased as you realized that your subconscious had already made the decision for you. Silco misinterpreted it entirely, reaching to snag your hand again.Â
âIâve missed you,â he murmured, drawing you closer.Â
âNo, Silco. I canât.â Pulling away seemed like the most difficult thing in the world just then, but you managed it. âI canât go back to the way things were. Not after the way everything has changed.âÂ
âNothing has changed,â Silco pressed. âNothing needs to. We can pick up precisely where we left off. The Undercity has already started to forget the news about the Havenâs donations and, under my protection once more, you can continue to impact this place the way you always wanted. Everything you want - everything we want - is waiting. The only thing you need do is agree.âÂ
If he had said something like that when the indecisive thoughts were swirling through your mind, you would probably be kissing again and well on your way to more. But your swaying had left you stumbling back from the edge, suddenly capable of seeing the chasm yawning just in front of your feet.Â
âThank you for the offer,â you said, taking another step back and pulling your hand away from his. âBut I must decline. If you donât mind, I have other responsibilities to which I must attend.âÂ
You had turned to open the door when you felt Silcoâs presence behind you. The skin at the back of your neck prickled at both the knowledge that he was behind you and the sudden tension in the air of your office.Â
âDismissing me is a mistake, pet,â Silco told you. The words and tone were genial enough, but there was a sharpness in it that made your nerves thrum. âMy offer is the only way to avoid the misfortunes that will fall on the Haven. There are those who will tear this place down if they are not stopped. And Iâm certain you remember the last time you chose to ignore my advice about an impending attack.âÂ
âSecurity is a smart idea,â you admitted, turning as Silcoâs eyes searched your face. âBut I canât pay you for it. I have no money for extraneous expenses and my body is no longer available as a form of payment. Iâm not saying youâre wrong about what could happen to the Haven, but the only thing I can do is stand strong against whatever may come.âÂ
âThis is the only time I will give you the opportunity to continue our deal,â Silco warned, Shimmer-infused eye piercing as he stared at you. âThe moment I leave the Haven, we are finished. Do not be foolish.âÂ
You bowed your head, hoping a show of subservience would be enough to push him out of the Haven. Silco was always a little more rational when he thought that he had succeeded in making his point. âI understand that the offer is only good for right now, but unfortunately, I cannot accept. Thank you for giving me the chance to make a choice.âÂ
âYou will regret this,â he warned, anger flashing across his scarred face as he stalked through your door and toward the front door of the Haven.Â
You closed the door a moment before you collapsed against it, a fine trembling in every limb and digit. Silco always took it personally when a deal fell through. And an offended Silco liked to soothe his indignation with a little murder. You were getting better about defending yourself against attacks, but you wouldnât bet on yourself against Silco. It was all for the best that he had left in some semblance of peace.Â
As you settled to work on the piles of paperwork lying across your desk, you had to push away another twinge of regretful lust. You had done the right thing, but that didnât make it any easier.

Author's Note - This was not my most elegant chapter, but I needed to show how things are progressing in the Haven and the Undercity as a whole. If it helps, every remaining chapter is one I'm very proud of. This is just my awkward little baby who had to leave home before I felt it was ready.
Anyway, thanks for reading! I'll see you next month!

𩷠sex drive đŠˇ
â pairing: toji fushiguro x afab!reader â summary: you go to a valentine's day blood drive at work. maybe it's just that you've been single for too long, but isn't the volunteer drawing your blood kinda...? well, let's just say you wouldn't mind exchanging a few other bodily fluids with him, too. â tags: modern au, workplace au â warnings: 18+!! MINORS DNI!! dirty talk, oral sex (f!recieving), slight exhibitionism, daddy kink â a/n: happy valentine's day (again)!! another quick little treat for u all hehe...inspired by my real life experience of going to a valentine's day blood drive (except for the fun parts ofc lmao).
you knew you should have made up an excuse and stayed home today. you hate to be a cliche bitter ass single woman who's not getting any younger on valentine's day, but it's hard not to play to type when the whole office is decorated in cutesy pinks and reds. it definitely doesn't help that your boss, suguru, keeps getting visits every 15 minutes from his boyfriend satoru.
"ugh, what's with the pda?" you grumble at what feels like satoru's 30th visit to suguru's open cubicle. "haven't you two been together for, like, a thousand years already?" your coworker utahime helpfully makes gagging noises to emphasize your point.
"hey now, y/n, you KNOW that i'm the head of marketing and suguru's the head of sales! i can't help it if he and i have lots of important things to discuss," satoru protests with puppy dog eyes.
"i didn't realize important marketing meetings involve sitting on coworkers' laps now," utahime mumbles, and the pair of you giggle conspiratorially.
however, as the day goes on and utahime keeps receiving increasingly elaborate flower arrangements delivered to her from her doctor girlfriend shoko, you find yourself feeling more glum than ever. you decide to go out for a stroll, hoping the cold february air will slap some sense into you.
unfortunately, not even five minutes after you set out, droplets of threatening rain turn into a torrential downpour. you curse; in your mopey mood this morning, you totally forgot to check the forecast!
you really don't want to go back into the lovefest of your office right now, so you start looking desperately around for a rescue â an underhang to stand under, anything.
that's when you see a bright red sign advertising a blood drive for valentine's day being held at your neighboring building. that could be an interesting idea. at least this way, you can tell yourself you did a good deed on valentine's day instead of just complaining the whole time. even more appealingly, you see that it'll take about an hour, which is one less hour you'll have to spend around satoru's soppy nicknames for suguru. after shooting a quick text to your team's group chat informing them of your last minute appointment, you decide to brave the rain and head over, hoping there's an opening for a walk-in.
you enter the room where the blood drive is taking place, praying you don't look too much like a drowned rat. your self-consciousness melts away and you smile brightly when you see a familiar face.
"shoko! you're volunteering here today?"
"oh, hey y/n," your quiet friend replies, giving you a small smile back. "yeah, utahime and i have a date nearby this evening, so i thought i might as well sign up. what time was your appointment for?"
"well, uh, i didn't exactly make an appointment..." you say awkwardly. "are walk-ins ok?"
"no problem, we got a lot of no-shows today anyway," shoko replies with a subtle roll of her eyes. she then hands you a clipboard and a pen. "just fill this out, and i'll get you screened and set up and everything."
you gratefully take the clipboard and head into the tiny compartment curtained off at the side of the room, presumably to give donors some privacy as they get screened. you fill out the form (trying not to think of your stupid ex boyfriend when you encounter the questions about your sex life), and once you're done, you poke your head back outside of the compartment.
"i'm ready now, shoko," you call. when your friend doesn't answer, you crane your neck around to the desk where she had been sitting. "shoko?"
"she just went on break," a husky, masculine voice replies from behind you. "i'll be taking over." you look back and are immediately floored by what just has to be the finest specimen of the male form you've ever seen, clad in obscenely tight scrubs that emphasize every bulging muscle. focus!!
"oh thanks doctor...um...fushiguro," you read from his nametag. he's so tall that it happens to be at your eye level, giving you quite a nice eyeful of his firm, muscular chest. what business did men have being this tall, anyway?!
"just call me toji," he says casually, grinning down at you. he takes the clipboard from your outstretched hands and jerks his head back towards the compartment you had been waiting in. "let's head back there so we have more...privacy." maybe it's just your imagination, but you could have sworn he smirked when he said that. you take deep breaths to suppress the unholy thoughts you're having, and you follow him back into the side room.
when you push the curtain aside and go in after him, you see he's already settled into one of the two chairs crammed into the tight space that he's clearly a little too large for. as you daintily resume your position in your own chair, he shifts and splays his long legs out, brushing your thigh with his knee. you inhale sharply.
he clears his throat and pulls out a pair of reading glasses from his breast pocket before reading your questionnaire. he nods at your answers (although you can't help but turn beet red as his eyes scan over the section about when you last had a new sex partner).
"looks fine to me. let's take your blood pressure now...y/n" he says, positively purring when he sounds out your name. "beautiful name for a beautiful girl," he says with a roguish wink, making you turn even redder than you ever knew was possible. was he making you uncomfortable on purpose?!
"mind taking your top off?" he asks, rummaging around in the drawer in front of him.
"i'm sorry?!" you choke out. that was a freebie! happy fucking valentine's day to you!
"oh, sorry, i meant so i can put the bp monitor around your arm. i don't know if you can roll your sleeves up in that blouse," he says, looking up from the drawer. you notice his eyes on your breasts, and you realize that you of course had worn your white button down over your lacy black camisole on the day mother nature decided to get you soaking wet. you must look like such a hussy!
you quickly unbutton your blouse and show him your arm to wrap the thick velcro band around, trying hard to avoid eye contact. it doesn't matter, though; you can feel his eyes boring into you like lasers. why does he have to be so hot?! you hope being in his presence won't throw off your blood pressure reading...you can feel your pulse going a little haywire.
As he tightens the band and starts the measurement, toji starts making small talk.
"so, you doing anything for valentine's day?"
ugh. anything but this topic.
"no," you reply simply, hoping not to broker further discussion.
he presses on, not taking your cue (or if he did, he ignored it.)
"no? what, your partner doesn't celebrate?"
toji reads out your bp measurement to you, but you don't even pay attention to it as you notice his hand brushing the side of your breast as he unwraps the bp monitor's band from your exposed arm. you gulp as you realize only the thin satiny layer of your cami is keeping his hands from touching your tits.
"uh..ah.." you say, hoping he doesn't notice the effect his one brief physical touch had on you, "n-no...my ex-boyfriend and i broke up a few months ago already." you don't mention how you saw him in your bed on your birthday in the arms of another person.
toji looks up at you from darkly hooded eyes.
"his loss...i know i'd treasure valentine's day with a pretty little thing like you."
just like that, toji snaps back into professional mode again, leaving you reeling once more from his flirtatious behavior. he was way too handsome to be acting like this on a dime! a girl like you could get ideas...
"i'm going to do a thumbprick now to get a quick reading on your blood. is that ok with you?"
you nod, and he grins at you.
"that's my girl," he hums in a low voice.
then, before you're even able to process what's happening, he takes your hand and engulfs it in his own. he then begins rubbing your hand back and forth, and you feel a small frisson of pleasure at the sensation of his callouses against your small, soft fingers.
"noticed your skin was a little cold, so i thought i'd warm your hand up before taking the sample," he explained, but you're hardly able to even listen to him as you enjoy the blissful sensation of his hands rubbing yours. his fingers were so long and thick, and so dextrous... how would those fingers feel somewhere else...no! stop! what are you thinking?! you've definitely been single for too long.
"all right, y/n," toji murmurs gently. "you're just going to feel a small prick...sorry about that..." he takes the sample and puts it into a machine for processing. he then reaches back into the drawer and withdraws a digital thermometer.
"while we're waiting for that to finish, let's take your temperature." you nod and extend your hands to take the thermometer from him, but he ignores you and instead roughly takes your chin in one of his huge, warm hands, tilting your head up towards his chest.
"open up for me now, y/n" he purrs, your name sounding like the sweetest and most beautiful sound you've ever heard when it's coming from his mouth; you can't help but comply. he gently inserts the thermometer under your tongue, and you note his eyes lingering on your lips for much longer than they have to. embarrassingly, you notice heat pooling between your legs, and tension twisting by your belly button. you could get used to this...all too soon, though, the thermometer beeps, and he takes it out. toji clicks his tongue as he reads the small display.
"99 degrees even," he reads out. "now that's a surprise."
"what? why's that?" you ask, confused. how could a body temperature be surprising?
"well, our cutoff is 99.5, and i was sure you'd be way too hot," he says with a laugh and another wink. you giggle back demurely; you can't help but act all girlish and coquettish with someone like him. you've never seen a man in real life wink so much, but you find you don't mind. it suits him.
"all right, y/n, let's go get some blood drawn!" he says enthusiastically, rising from his chair. you follow suit. he reaches around you (did his arm just brush your breasts again?) and opens the curtain for you. "after you, princess."
you used to hate when your ex called you "princess"...but when toji called you that, it sounded like the doors to the heavens opened and angels were singing. you'll definitely be thinking about that for awhile. probably before bedtime, and probably while touching yourself. you sigh and exit the small room before hopping up onto one of the cots that were brought to the building for the blood drive.
toji pops a small stress ball into your hand. "now, make a fist for me," he says, using his fingers to close yours, "and start squeezing that." he squeezes his fist around yours. it wasn't so confusing of an instruction that you needed a demonstration, and you're beginning to suspect that toji's making excuses to keep touching you. not that you mind, exactly.
you keep squeezing, and he examines the tender inside of your elbow. "that's a gorgeous vein you've got there, princess. this'll be easy for me," he murmurs seductively, and you blush. you've never been complimented on a vein, of all things, before.
soon, toji pierces your arm (pursing his lips sympathetically as you emit a sharp gasp, which of course makes you stare at his lips), and your blood is pumping merrily into a bag. you decide to make conversation with him, this time.
"how about you, toji? i'm sure someone like you has big plans for valentine's day, right?" you ask, raising your eyebrows suggestively.
"oh, yeah," he chuckles. "if you count getting high and watching magnolia for the millionth time big plans. i don't really go for that stuff," he says.
"i love paul thomas anderson," you say huskily, trying to flutter your eyelashes at him. it's been a long time since you've flirted, and you're probably embarrassing yourself. "you know what the perfect film of his for today would be, though?"
"what's that, princess?"
you smirk. "there will be blood."
toji lets out a huge laugh in spite of himself, and you smile proudly. flirtation successful!
soon, your blood has filled the small bag, and toji removes the needle, pressing gauze to the wound. the feel of his hands pressing into your arm is one of the most blissful things you've felt all week. he asks you to continue maintaining the pressure, and you feel like whining that it won't feel as nice as when he does it before remembering where you are and complying. you watch as he picks up your sample and sorts it in with the others; you feel a bit shy, seeing him manhandle your little blood bag like that. it feels so intimate.... you gulp as you imagine him manhandling you like that.
"all right, y/n, now you just need to rest for twenty minutes, and you'll be good to go." you start climbing out from the cot, feeling a little disappointed that your short, exciting interaction with toji is coming to an end. oh well. some excitement is better than none.
"we have some cookies for the donors in the seating area," he continues. "lucky you...i'd love a little taste of something sweet right about now..."
ok, it definitely wasn't your imagination â he positively growled that last sentence, and he was eyeing you. as you get up, you notice you're a little shaky on your feet; you realize that you actually hadn't eaten lunch before coming, since you'd been in such a rush to get away. you list and sway dangerously to one side, but a pair of strong arms braces you. you let your head fall back onto a perfectly firm, taut chest.
"careful, there, sweetheart" toji whispers in your ear, his breath tickling your sensitive skin as he lifts you up. you try not to think too much about how your back is pressed into him right now. "i think i'd better keep an eye on you." he walks you over to the front of the room, bracing your back against himself the whole way over. he leads you to the front of the room, where there are folding chairs and a card table with a small platter of supermarket cookies as promised. as shoko had alluded earlier, the blood drive was not busy at all. in fact, it was completely empty currently; just you and toji, alone in this room... you feel yourself getting faint again, but not for the same reason.
"y'know, princess..." toji says, sitting again with his legs splayed out over the chair across from you as you nibble a chocolate chip cookie. "my shift's ending right about...when your observation period ends."
you tilt your head inquisitively at him, hoping you knew why he was saying this. he leans forward, the flimsy plastic chair creaking under the weight of his solid muscle. what you'd let that muscle do to you...
"i don't think that i, as a medical professional, can let you go back to work today..." he continues. "i think you'd better go home after this." then, he smiles deviously. "and i think i'd better take you back, just to give you a...full examination."
it takes all of your restraint not to fling the rest of the cookie down and jump his bones right then and there. instead, you reply,
"i think i'd appreciate the house call." you do your best to make your voice ooze with suggestion so he knows you're picking up what he's putting down.
after what feels like the slowest fifteen minutes of your life, it's finally time to leave. just as toji's shift is about to end, shoko returns from her break, and you take the opportunity to ask her to have utahime bring your things back home from the office for you. since they're your neighbors, you can pick them up later tonight. or perhaps, tomorrow morning...just in case tonight gets a little too busy.
"something came up," you explain to her breathlessly, but you know shoko notices toji's hand creeping up the small of your back.
"have fun," shoko says to the both of you, only slightly judgmental but mostly encouraging.
since you took the bus to work that morning and toji refuses to wait a moment longer than he has to to commence your "examination," he insists on driving you back in his car. you both practically sprint through the parking lot, and he breaks at least three traffic laws zooming back to your apartment in the rain as you yell directions. for a doctor, he sure is awfully reckless.
finally, finally, after an agonizingly long wait, you're at your building. you're about to climb out of the car, but toji is way ahead of you, opening the door for you. you are about to climb out and jokingly thank him for his chivalry when he unceremoniously scoops you out of your seat and swings you over his shoulder. you shriek with laughter.
"toji! put me down!"
you're also all too aware that you're wearing a pretty short skirt that day.
"sorry, princess," he says smoothly. "it's protocol. i can't have you walking back in just in case you pass out, or something."
you're about to ask if he's even been to medical school when he shoves your key into your apartment door, slams it open, and, equally roughly, slams your back against the wall. the breath is shoved out of your lungs as he immediately captures your mouth with his, swallowing any potential protest you might have had (which you didn't, you absolutely didn't. not even close.). he carries your entire weight easily as he shuts the door behind him with his foot; you're hardly paying attention, though, as you're too busy widening your mouth and entangling your tongue with his. you greedily bite down on his lip, and he growls in response.
"let's get you to the examination table," he groans. you wrap your legs around his narrow waist, and he carries you haphazardly to your dining table, crashing into and knocking over furniture along the way. carrying you with one arm, he carelessly clears the table with his other before plopping you onto the tabletop. he kneels before your legs and tears off your tights in one swift motion.
"i hope you're planning to help clean upâ" you start, but your breath hitches in your throat as he begins kissing up your ankle, then your calf...then your thigh...he gets slower and slower as he gets closer to where you most want him to go. you try to shift forward on the table to bring your throbbing center closer to him, but he holds you firmly in place with two powerful hands clamped on your hips.
"patience, princess..."
you close your eyes and start taking deep breaths, but the moment is disrupted by an annoying loud vibration against the wooden tabletop.
"who the fuck is 'ryomen sukuna?'" toji scoffs, "and why do you have a heart next to his name? you been lyin' to me, princess? have you been naughty?"
"no," you breathe, and it comes out as a whine. "no, daddy, i've been a good girl, promise. please..."
"'please' what, princess? help daddy out here," he purrs with a wicked grin. just then, your stupid phone vibrates again, and you're about to pick it up and throw it out the window when toji wrests it from your grip.
"your idiot ex, i'm guessing?" he asks. all you can do is nod, the words robbed from you.
"well, my professional recommendation is...for you to tell him to fuck off."
"i will, toji, i promise," you pant. "please, just ignore him, i promise, he's nothing to me."
"you're not listening to me, princess..." toji says in a low, dangerous voice. "i want you to tell him to fuck off. right. now." he slides the answer button on your phone and hands it to you before you can protest.
"h-hello?" you say, trying to keep your voice steady. "sukuna?"
"heyyyy, y/n....missed hearing your voice, boo," sukuna coos, clearly inebriated. you scoff in disgust; it's only four in the afternoon. sukuna was such a mess.
"what do you want, sukuna? i thought i w-was..." you start out assertively, but your resolve is breaking as a practiced tongue once again starts swirling its way up your legs, alternating between your left and right thighs. you clench your toes and grit your teeth before continuing.
"i was ... clear...that ... that we're o-over," you say, the last word coming out as a moan as you feel a set of teeth pulling off your panties ever so gently.
"baby, i told you!" sukuna whines. "uraume's nothin' to me, babe! they're just a friend! you're my one and only, baby!"
even in the midst of the sensory overload occurring in your bottom half, you still roll your eyes. yeah, "just friends" made out in bed naked all the time, right?
"i want you to...to...s-stop.." you pant, as sukuna finally picks up on your strange manner of speech.
"hold on, y/n, is someone there with you?" he snarls, his famous temper rising to the forefront. "you whoring it up with another guy already?"
at that, toji grabs the phone from you and growls into it, "seems like she finally decided she needs a real man, not some cheatin' asshole who can't appreciate her properly!"
the moment he finishes talking, toji leans back into your thighs and finally plunders you with his tongue, raising the phone to your mouth in time for you to moan sinfully into it as sukuna is arguing back. toji doesn't even bother hanging up as he throws the phone across the room.
toji grips your thighs tightly enough to leave bruises as he feasts on you, and you wrap your legs around him, tangle your hands in his short hair, and squirm in delight. it doesn't take you very long to come undone under his practiced mouth.
he rises back to his feet, licking his lips.
"finally got to satisfy my sweet tooth today," he says mischievously. you grab the v-neck of his shirt and tug him closer to you aggressively.
"take me to bed. it's your turn next," you declare authoritatively. then, you kiss him fiercely, tasting yourself on his lips and tongue.
"your wish is my command, princess," he replies with a dark chuckle, before lifting you, bridal style, to your bedroom.
this was shaping up to be a great valentine's day after all.

can you write a drabble of when ellie and y/n decided they wanted kidsđ like both of them deciding whoâs going to carry lila, and what type of procedure theyâll use to conceive, and them picking out their sperm donor and what not <3
mommy & momma
âdo you want children, do you want to marry me?â
_____________________ ŕ¨ŕ§ _______________________
๨ৠAfter two years of being married the two of you felt like something was missing.
๨ৠYou both knew having children was a huge responsibility, but you also knew it was something you both really wanted.
๨ৠAt first the two of you considered adoption, as it would be nice to take in a child and raise them.
๨ৠBut due to unethical practices and the long process you decided against it.
๨ৠNaturally, the next option was to consider artificial insemination.
๨ৠThe two of you discussed it a lot and came to the conclusion that youâd be the one to carry.
๨ৠEllie wasnât against carrying whatsoever, you were just more interested in experiencing a pregnancy and she wanted to give you that opportunity.
๨ৠThe two of you found an anonymous donor at the sperm bank who matched her some of her features.
๨ৠHer green eyes, dark auburn hair and skin tone. Since it would be your egg in use, youâd hoped the child could be a mix of you two.
๨ৠShe was very strict on you during the preparation leading up to the insemination.
๨ৠYour doctor advised you eat healthy, refrain from drinking alcohol, avoid stress and take prenatals daily. Ellie took this as a challenge.
๨ৠShe took her role as your partner very seriously, bossing you around and watching you like a hawk.
๨ৠShe wouldnât so much as let you have a sip of wine, coffee or do anything that could cause you stress or anxiety.
๨ৠFinally a few weeks after the insemination sheâd woken up to you eating a can of raw sardines and thatâs when she knew.
๨ৠBefore you could even kiss her good morning she was dragging you into the bathroom to take a pregnancy test.
๨ৠIf you thought she was protective during the trying process, she was insufferable during the pregnancy.
๨ৠYou knew it was out of love but at times got annoyed at how little she allowed you to do.
๨ৠCalls you her baby mama in-front of everyone and casually tells people youâre carrying her baby inside of you.
๨ৠâIâm momma and youâre mommy.â She tells you one evening and you like the idea.
๨ৠShe goes into full nesting mode and canât stop herself from ordering furniture and toys in bulk.
๨ৠYouâll be sitting on the couch, bowl of popcorn and pickles resting on your ever growing bump and hear the doorbell ring.
๨ৠTo your dismay itâs another package for Mrs. Ellie Williams. This time it was a 5 pack of animal onesies, An assorted box of pacifiers, plushies and bath towels.
๨ৠWhen the two of you find out youâre having a girl Ellieâs over the moon and canât wait to be a girl mom.
๨ৠShe buys a book of âunique baby girl namesâ and insists the two of you read it every night before bed.
๨ৠObsessed with your pregnant body and kind of develops a breeding kink throughout the last few months of your pregnancy.
๨ৠâGonna fuck another baby into you right after this oneâ She blurts as your riding her one evening.
๨ৠCanât get enough of your boobs now even though sheâd always been obsessed with them.
๨ৠWhenever theyâre achy she offers to massage them but that usually ends up with the two of you fucking.
๨ৠBy the final month of your pregnancy the two of you are more than ready for your daughter to get here.

Addison walks towards the break room, hoping to find Amelia there before itâs too late. She walks into the room, luckily seeing the youngest Shepherd sitting on the couch, coffee in hand, talking with Maggie Pierce. âAmelia, could I talk to you for a minute?â She says right away, skipping the pleasantries.
With a look, Amelia stands up. âSure.â She chuckles quietly, slightly nervous. âWhatâs up?â She asks after Maggie leaves to room for the two.
âI called Doctor Y/L/N here to help me with a patient of mine, sheâs arriving today.â She tells, trying to gauge what Ameliaâs thoughts are about seeing her ex again. âI wanted to tell you before sheâs here.â
âOkay, thanks for telling me.â And with that Amelia leaves the room. Addison sighs, rubbing her forehead. Suddenly she isnât too sure if she did the right thing, but she really needs Y/N here, sheâs the best in her field. She just has to hope everything goes smoothly.
âAddison!â Y/Nâs voice calls out excitedly.
The red head turns around to see her doctor friend walking towards her with a bright smile. âHey, stranger.â Addison laughs, meeting her half way to hug her. âIâm so glad to finally see you. How was the world?â She pulls away, her hands on Y/Nâs shoulders to see how much she has changed over the years.
âThe world was good.â Y/N decided to leave the practice in Los Angeles to join the Doctors Without Borders, traveling all over the world with them. âHowâs Seattle? I didnât think youâd come back here.â She looks around the hospital. This isnât her first time in Grey Sloan Memorial, but it has been a long time since she was last here.
âSeattle is good. You know I go where babies need me, and this baby needs us both.â She nods her head forward, so they start walking. âThe baby is two months old and his heart is incredibly weak. He wonât survive without a donor heart, but getting a heart that small will take too much time.â
âThatâs where I come in.â
âThatâs where you come in.â Addison smiles, she missed working with her. âHis heart could become strong enough, if you fixed the veins around it.â They walk into a room full of pictures of the babyâs heart and veins.
Y/N looks through the pictures, at times picking one of them up to see it closer. The heart is compromised, and the baby wonât survive long if they do nothing, but the surgery Addison is talking about is incredibly risky. Fortunately, Y/N is a risk taker.
âI can do it,â she states, âbut Iâm gonna need a lot of help. His vitals need to be monitored closely.â
Letting out a sigh of relief, Addison nods. âIâll get you anything you need.â She pauses for a moment, contemplating on saying anything. âAmelia is here, you know? Incase you wanted to talk to her.â
âOh.â Y/N clears her throat, cleaning up the pictures into a neat pile so she wouldnât have to look at Addison staring at her. âI didnât know that.â She mumbles.
The now silent and tense atmosphere of the room makes Addison question whether she made the right decision. Amelia is one of the most important people in her life, sheâs her sister, but she also cares about Y/N a lot. Their relationship didnât really end on the best terms, mostly because of Ameliaâs addiction, but the relationship itself was good. They both were happiest Addison has ever seen when they were together.
âIâll make a surgery plan and then get back to you, okay?â Y/N states, not waiting for Addison to answer as she leaves the room.
Her mind is all over the place, which makes her walk through the hallways with less attention than usually, though she does greet the familiar faces going past her. However, she doesnât notice the person walking right towards her with the same state of mind. So, they crash into each other.
All the pictures Y/N was holding fly to the floor. âShit, Iâm sorry.â She grumbles, kneeling down to gather them.
âY/N?â
The familiar voice makes her head snap up. Amelia is standing over her, an indescribable look on her face. The exes stare at each other in silence, both unsure what to do. They both knew of the others presence in the hospital, but they didnât think theyâd bump into each other, at least not yet.
Her breath hitches as she looks over Ameliaâs face. As much as she doesnât like admitting it, she missed her. âAmy.â With a mumble, Y/N stands up, dusting off her scrubs.
âAmelia, no one calls me Amy anymore.â She says with a small smile. Y/N just nods, putting it to her mind. âI havenât seen you in a while.â
âYeah.â
Amelia scratches the back of her neck. âSo, Addison called you.â
âShe did.â The pictures are starting to crease in her grip. âThereâs a..baby, obviously, uhm, and she needed help.â She clears her throat, looking around for an exit. âI actually have to make a surgery plan for tomorrow, so, Iâll see you around, I guess.â
Going to walk past Amelia, she stops once a hand takes hold of her arm. âCould we talk? Just the two of us, later today.â
The ask makes Y/N hesitant, but the way Amelia is looking at her makes her give in. âOkay.â
âAwesome,â a smile spreads on Ameliaâs face, âcoffee, after work?â
âIâll see you then.â She lets go and Y/N walks away, Ameliaâs eyes never leaving her back.
Amelia paces around the lobby of the hospital, her mind racing a mile a minute. She has always considered Y/N her biggest love, maybe even soulmate, if she truly believes in them. Seeing her again has brought the feelings back to the surface and she isnât sure what to do with them.
Her thoughts come to a halt when she notices Y/N walking towards her. Instead of her scrubs, sheâs now wearing her everyday clothes. She looks just as beautiful as she did all those years ago. And she decides to tell her so, âyou look beautiful.â Y/N hums with a slight smile, her cheeks turn warm, but she pays no mind to it. âThereâs a small cafe down the street.â
âLetâs go then.â As they walk side by side, Y/N bites the inside of her cheek, looking down at the pavement. The silence is uncomfortable and they desperately want to break it, but neither of them know whatâs appropriate to say in a situation like this. âHow have you been?â Y/N decodes to ask, glancing at Amelia.
âBetter. A lot better actually. Iâve been sober for a long time, though itâs still hard sometimes. I got two new sisters, sort of,â she chuckles, âMeredith and Maggie. And Iâm the head of neuro department.â
âI heard about Derek. Iâm sorry.â
âYeah.â Amelia sighs. âItâs okay.â She opens the door of the cafe for Y/N before stepping inside herself. At the counter, they order their coffees, and when it comes time to pay, Amelia pushes Y/Nâs hand away from the machine. âMy treat.â She pays both of their coffees.
âYou didnât have to.â
âI wanted to.â They move to the other side pf the counter to wait for their coffees. âItâs the least I can do after,â she pauses, âeverything.â
âIt wasnât completely your fault.â She looks away from her. âYou were going through a tough time.â
âThatâs no excuse. I hurt you and drove away one of the best things in my life.â
Being one of the best things in her life sounds like an exaggeration, but the sincerity in Ameliaâs eyes makes her believe she really means it. âYouâre also important to me.â Before the conversation van keep on going, the barista shouts their names. They take their coffees and find a quiet corner place to sit.
âSo, what have you been doing all there years?â
âI moved around with Doctors Without Borders.â Y/N sips her drink. âAlso studied a bit on the side.â
âAnd your love life?â
If Amelia was anything, she was blunt. If she wanted know something, sheâd ask, Y/N usually liked her unfiltered talk. âLove life, huh?â She giggles with a shake of her head. âThere were some flings and one time things, you know, to release stress I suppose. But nothing that stayed.â Amelia listens intently while she drinks her coffee. âAnd you?â
She shrugs. âThere was Link and Kai, but just like every relationship I have had, they ended with someoneâs heart broken.â Amelia has a grin on her face. She has already gotten over the past two relationships, but itâs still disheartening to have failed relationships.
âHm, youâll find your person.â
âMaybe,â Amelia keeps eye contact with Y/N, âI really hope so.â
Looking down, Y/N taps the mug in front of her with her nails, all the feelings around them getting overwhelming. âListen,â she changes the subject, âcould you be in the surgery tomorrow? I need someone to monitor her brain activity, and you are the best there is.â She lifts her head to give Amelia a teasing look. âOr at least you used to be. Have you gotten worse over the years?â
âWorse? Do you know who youâre talking to? Iâm better than ever.â Amelia answers to the teasing look with a challenging look of her own. âWhat Iâm hearing is, you need my help because you arenât in the best shape.â Her elbows are leaning against the table.
âOh, wow.â Y/N crosses her arms. âYour ego is still sky high.â
Amelia laughs, which Y/N giggle as well.
The surgery has been going on for six hours already, and the whole room is tense. Amelia and Addison are monitoring the babyâs health, while Y/N is rerouting the veins near the heart. The surgery is already nearing its end, but thereâs still things to do.
Y/N lets out a sigh, shaking her hand to ease the pain in her wrist. It has stayed on one position for a long time. She can feel multiple pairs of eyes on the side of her head, thereâs an audience in the viewing room. This is an once in a lifetime surgery after all. Double checking everything she has done, Y/N lifts her head to her friends. âAre his vitals good?â The two nod. âAlright, weâre ready to close.â She says shakily, not ready to relax just yet. But she can feel the relief coursing through the room.
The sutures closing the opening on the babyâs chest donât take long, as the wound isnât as big as on an adult. The moment the last suture is on its place, people in the viewing room start cheering, so do the doctors in the operation room. Addison and one other doctor take the baby to NICU, not before thanking Y/N though.
Walking out of the room, Y/N slumps down to a chair, taking off her scrub cap. Amelia sits down next to her. âWatching you work is seriously magnificent.â
Y/N laughs, âyouâre being dramatic.â
âIâm not!â Amelia throws her arm around Y/Nâs shoulders, giving her a side hug. âYouâre incredibly and I love you.â Y/N turns to look at her. âGive me another chance? Go on a date with me?â
âOkay.â
âYeah?â Amelia grins widely.
âYeah.â Y/N smiles too, her heart beating a hundred miles. She isnât sure if itâs from the surgery she just did, or the fact that Amelia is looking at her like sheâs the only person she cares about.
Amelia nods, feeling like she just won the lottery. âIâll pick you up at eight, wear something pretty.â She kisses her cheek before walking off, going straight to Addison to tell the good news.

Fateful Beginnings
XVI. âsweetenerâ
parts: previous / next
plot: after months of rejections, a certain offer crops up with such sweetener you canât possibly resist⌠though you wish it was under better circumstance.
pairing: battinson!bruce wayne x fem!reader
cw: 18+, talk of death, grief, cancer, angst, unintentional weight loss
words: 3.9k
The next two months were a blur. Your days melted together, only distinguishable by doctor's visits and which job rejected you that day. The economy was in shambles; going on Indeed you were seeing hundreds of applications to a single Dunkin' barista job. You tried your best to forget about Bruce Wayne, and kept replaying the conversation over and over in the week following. His promise not to hurt you, the vague sense of safety and danger you got when you were around him... but it was soothing knowing that he was all the way on the other side of the US. This relief went away when it was deep into the night and you remembered he had all the money, all the tech, all the opportunity to hunt you down if he wanted to, but you did your best to trust the humanity he fronted with. You kicked yourself for forgetting to bring up the loan thing, adrenaline having been coursing through your veins blocking out any real coherent thought outside of the direct moment. It couldn't have been him, it could've been another donor. Maybe it was even Alfred checking my texts when Iâd gone to the bathroom or some shit.
The days still blurred together however, and secretly you relished not knowing what day it was; not knowing meant you didn't know how close the draw was. Your mother's clinical trial started beginning of August, and would be a biweekly shot... if she was accepted. At each and every appointment leading up to that fateful day the staff engaged in tempering assurances, albeit assuring hardly anyone would make it into that trial. For a split second whenever a doctor or nurse mentioned it at the end of her appointments you felt a white-hot rod in your throat that froze you in your tracks. The doctors said this was her only hope. And only if she avoids placebo.
Walter was growing increasingly anxious as well. Walter refused to leave her side to the point you had called the office to see if they would ever make an exception to bring a cat inside. No. Allergies. Your dad had taken to staying home with him, otherwise he would go on a food strike. It would take hours of petting and cooing to him to make him comfortable enough to eat again if your mom ever got out of his sight. It was better with your dad there, though. Instead of three hours of cuddling, it might take two for him to eat again. You tried not to think about what would ever happen if your mom's battle ended... poorly.
Your dad started going back to work, only part time. You made sure to spend all the time possible out in the living room with your mother and Walter while she knit and pulled pieces of yarn from Walter's teeth, and watched some sort of romcom. When your dad came back you would all start cooking dinner, then eat, engage in some sort of discussion (your dad had taken to downloading an 'icebreaker' app and would pull one question each day from it) and then you'd spend the rest of the night submitting job apps. It was monotonous, a bit draining, but also sweet. It was such a far cry from Gotham that at just over a month gone from the city, you'd started to wonder if you'd dreamt it and you'd actually been here with them all along... until the day before the clinical trial announcement when you'd woken up to a particular email.
Dear Miss Y/L/N,
It is at the referral of Gotham City University President Dr. Janay Vry that we extend to you an offer of employment in the position of JOURNALISM DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT for the academic year of 2024-25. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours of on-site time per week including outreach of no more than 5 hours per week. We look forward to hearing from you.
Gotham City University Faculty Administrator
You stared at the screen as if you'd seen a ghost. For weeks you hadn't had to worry about Gotham; the crime, the sleazes, Bruce Wayne. I'm balls deep in rejections and now Gotham sweetens the deal. You kicked the sheets off of you then paused, horrified, before remembering Walter didn't sleep in your bed anymore.
Breakfast was as usual. Your dad made omelets and the three of you made small talk about the happenings of the day ahead. Today your mother was getting a visit from Debra, her old friend from the Y back when she volunteered there on weekends. Your dad was working the same shiftâ10am to 3pmâand would put steak on the grill when he got back. "Looks like it might hit a hundred if we get lucky."
"Y/N," She asked after taking a sip of coffee. "Can you make sure Walter's water is filled? I think I might go to Debra's to get out of the house." You looked under the table to see Walter slurping up the last puddles of his water and rose to fill it. You grabbed a few ice cubes so it could stay cold just the way he liked it; a sobering thought of leaving this for Gotham threatened to sever your spine. After pouring a few cups into his bowl and giving him a proper pet, your dad followed up on your job search. "Any luck on those applications?"
More than anything you didn't want to tell them about Gotham. But as your parents had talked, the more you began to mull over the money in your mind. Free housing. 1500 would be enough for a good studio. 800 a week. A plane ticket's 200 round trip. I could visit, easy. I would visit. It would only be temporary, I wouldn't probably last the whole year before I got offered a position at home. What if Mom doesn't get into the trial? What if she does and she gets placebo? How long does she have? Will it be painful? Do I need to think about a job right now? It would look fucking great on a resumĂŠ, which would increase odds of getting ahead of the job seekers in WA quite significantly...
"Hun? Any offers?" Your dad turned to look at you and you blurted out the contents of the email. A second of silent surprise then an uproar of celebration. "Thank heavens, that sounds wonderful! Did you already accept?"
You looked back at them with shock, your mouth hanging slightly open. What? Walter finished his food and brushed against your legs as he wandered to your mom, looking pitifully up at her slices of bacon. "Well, no. It's Gotham. I thought it was too dangerous." You guys nearly prohibited me from even going to Gotham in the first place...
"That was before we visited!" Your mom was ecstatic; she rose to come and give you a big hug, and your dad tried to swat Walter away from jumping on the chair to sneak a bite. You wanted to think it was cute, but your mind raced. How could they be so supportive? Unquestionably? "It's Gotham, Mom," You took her hug not in celebration, but in an effort to commit the feeling to memory.
"How much is the pay?" Your dad pulled in the chair so he couldn't jump and walked over to the sink to put his plate away. You shut your eyes and hid a sigh. Once they know how good the pay is they won't let me stay. "Good, I guess."
"What, 15, 16 an hour?" Your parents eyed you expectantly and you shrugged. "A little more. Than that." You followed the linoleum's vertical lines to where it met the carpet. "And a housing stipend." You cringed. They weren't going to let this opportunity go.
"Wowza, honeybee!" Your dad called you that when he was particularly pleased, which only served to coil your stomach lining. Gotham? Gotham. This was over Gotham. The place we got into screaming matches over me going to only a handful of years ago. "I don't know,"
"Why not? It sounds perfect." Your mom was a foot away from you boring her eyes into your soul. Does she really have no idea why I wouldn't want to leave? "Mom,"
"If this is anything about my cancer," So she did.
"Don't say that," You tried to play it off and stuttered something about how you didn't particularly like Gotham anyway, you could keep looking for jobs here, but she wasn't having it.
"No no. I want you to live your life, sweetie. This is a spectacular opportunity!" Her singsong tone was back and you suddenly wanted to throw up. You wanted to blurt HOW MUCH TIME IS LEFT WITH YOU?? I CAN'T MISS IT! But, you didn't say anything and walked out of the kitchen back to your room. You didn't quite slam the door, but didn't make it silent. While your mother's selflessness was admirable, it was also frustrating. I only get one mom. You sat on the edge of your bed with your head in your hands. Whispers wafted from the kitchen but you couldn't make them out. The sound of footsteps, a pause, and then knocking on your door. "Hun, let's talk." It was your father.
"Dad, no, I'm tired,"
"You just woke up honeybun, I'm not buying that." He sat beside you on the end of your bed. It sagged a bit, not used to the extra company. He placed a hand on your shoulder. "What you're feeling about your mother, I've felt it too. I had the same conversation with her before going back to work.â
"I'm sure she was receptive." You rolled your eyes. He squinted at you. "Now, where is this attitude coming from?"
"I don't want to tell her because it'll make her sad. But. I. I have no idea how much longer she has left. And working would just take time away from her."
"Have you thought about how that might make your mother feel? Her life has changed enough. She's already reminded enough about her... illness."
"Cancer, Dad. Cancer." He never said the words. He shuddered but continued on.
"Her life has been turned upside, over, and back around. She does not need more reminders of how sick she might be."
"How sick she is." You shot a glare at your father, just then realizing how much contempt you felt toward him. It came rushing out of you. "You didn't even think to tell me her mobility changed. I had to see her frail and in a fucking wheelchair,"
"Now, calm yourself!" He snapped at you and took his hand off your shoulder. You scooted a little further from him, annoyed. Your voice was softer but the rock in your chest remained. "You didn't even tell me. She's lost so much weight. Her hair changed. You didn't even tell me. You won't even say the word 'cancer'." Your voice was starting to raise and he stood up. "Talk to your mother."
"Why? Didn't you say that'd just add extra stress? Remind her of her 'illness'?" You stood up and watched him walk to the door. "You weren't in the room with the doctor when he told me. He said it's this trial or fucking nothing."
"Don't use that language in my house!"
"It's my house too." By this point your mind was racing and your palms were sweaty and clammy and head hot, hands shaking. "If she doesn't get into this trial and this medicine doesn't work she's fucked."
He paused with his hand on the doorknob. "If you brought it up to her... maybe you'd see she's come to more peace than you have about it." With that, he left.
At 1:13pm the next day the phone rang. You hadn't talked to your mom about it as she was already headed out the door to see Debra, and didn't come back until late in the evening when she was visibly exhausted. Your dad helped tuck her into bed and she fell asleep quickly. Breakfast the next morning was fine, but tense; you were all anxiously awaiting this phone call. Your dad had stayed home from work just in case, and now your mom picked up the phone. "Yes, that's she. Yes. Yes, that's correct." And just by some small miracle, she'd gotten in.
Debra joined the party that evening. After a tearful raucous she was the first one your family called. Not ten minutes later she had arrived with a pie. "I baked it this morning. I figured we'd want something sweet no matter what."
The logistics were as-follows: your mom was going to be receiving her first shot of the drug (or, terrifyingly, a placebo) the following Friday. She would keep a diligent record of any side effects, even if they didn't seem related. Two weeks later she would receive her second dose and turn in the side-effect sheet, and that would continue for the following month until switching to once a month injections for the rest of the year. The first week of the new year your mother would get another scan, and that would be the first check-in. "They told me if everything goes how it should with the medication, I could not only see growth stunted, but be on the road to remission." Seeing how happy your parents were the rest of the evening only made the offer in Gotham more inviting; she'd been accepted, and if the results were, god forbid, horrendous in the new year, you would come home and help with the money you'd saved.
Clutching the laptop with white knuckles, you sent the acceptance email at 4:50pm the next day, ten minutes before the deadline. Half an hour later you were booked for your flight that Sunday at noon. Saturday was filled with laundry and packing bags; now Walter didn't want to leave your side. That night you hardly slept, staying up to pet him on the couch while your parents nodded off to a TV movie. The phrase mutually assured destruction came back to haunt youâyou hadn't meant that to be a threat, but what if it was? You'd planned on never having to see him again... but the city was big. You could avoid him. And if you were going to trust him, he had said that even if you had written the exposĂŠ he wouldn't have hurt you.
You planned to come back once a month, leaving Thursday night and returning Sunday night. It fit well with your mom's trial schedule for the latter portion of the year, and you'd be able to come with her to her appointments. When you got on the plane and tucked your carryon under the seat it didn't feel so terrible. It felt less like leaving and more like a weird vacation. But as soon as you woke up in Gotham a rock hit the pit of your stomach. Fuck. I'm back.
The W was the hotel Dr. Vry had set up for you, only a floor below where you'd stayed with your parents the last time. You had one week to find an apartment, and Dr. Vry said to list her on any applications to 'speed up the process'. While waiting on the Uber to pick you up in the airport you'd sent one application to a place in North Gotham, a gorgeous gem of a spot with a full-size tub and in-unit washer dryer. Just as you pushed the key into your room at the hotel, you received a confirmation email with the date to retrieve your keys. Fuck, they made it too easy.
With a lot of time on your hands and a new neighborhood to explore, you abandoned your room and wandered around the blocks surrounding. You went more north this time, to avoid any fleeting memory of Bruce and whatever the hell he'd been up to.
Northern Gotham was certainly more family-friendly. You saw couples taking their babies out on walks instead of throngs of people clustering around the various clubs on every block. There was only one club you'd seen so far, and that one allowed minors until seven pm. You'd lived more downtown, central city, and never had reason to go further north until now. The apartment you'd been in was less than a thousand a month, which made sense how riddled it was with crime. It wasn't even close to Washington, but this didn't quite feel like the Gotham you knew close to campus.
You noticed a cute themed coffee shop on the corner ahead and went in. There were a few people and a couple sitting around the small room, working on their laptops or reading a book. It really felt like it wasn't Gotham, like you'd been transported back home for a quick moment. You went on Maps and saw that your new apartment was only three blocks east of the cafe. Safety. Serenity. Never thought I'd find a crumb of it here. You resigned to coming here as often as possible. You ordered a macchiato and sat on a leather loveseat as you waited. Your jeans bit into your stomach and you adjusted uncomfortably, the leather loud as you wiggled. I guess this is why this seat was empty. You were called up for your drink quickly and thanked them as you walked out back from whence you came. Though you hadn't been in the store for five minutes, it was already raining. Even Washington didn't rain in August, but you couldn't be too pressed. The rain was nice when it wasn't forcing you to be locked in the city mansion with the... no.
Bruce doesn't own this city. There's millions of people here. With your coffee in hand you made the trek back to the hotel, and after hopping into the giant bed you sat with your thoughts for a moment. Challey Hall... that wasn't the journalism department. The term started three Mondays later, and alongside the fifteen-hundred stipend for rent and utilities, Dr. Vry had emailed you with an extra thousand in the form of a digital check. In her words it was a 'settle-in fee'. Monday would be the meeting and then Dr. Vry would give you a tour of the places you'd be frequenting. You'd receive your schedule, and Tuesday through Sunday would be reserved for settling into the apartment and getting items for it so it wasn't an empty box. Why are they being so generous with the money? It didn't feel right, not when there was so much inequality in the city. You'd make sure to cut some costs and offer whatever was left after your first paycheck to the houseless people around campus.
As you walked back you couldn't help but think about how gigantic the city was. When considering whether or not to accept the position, you had vastly underrepresented the impact of the sheer size of the city on your psyche. It made you feel completely unimportant and equally as lost. It only served your insecurities, making you feel like even more of an outcast than you already felt in your small town just outside of Seattle. Mar. You could call Mar. She could come over, and you could tell her about Bruce. That would be a good icebreaker. Open up to her about why you'd been so MIA, about your mother's cancer, about why you left and why you came back. You needed someone to talk to.
An hour later you and her were sitting on the hotel bed eating takeout noodles. "So you're saying you stayed in Bruce Wayne's HOUSE, then he helped you pack up your apartment, then dropped you off at the airport," Her face was scrunched together, deep in thought as she recounted the last hour of conversation. Some broth from the noodles was on the top of her lip. "Then he was the commencement speaker at your graduation, he talked to your parents after, then later that night he found you again and talked to you?"
"When you say it like that it sounds like stalking." You shrugged and took another chomp of noodles. Mar stared at you. "If it sounds like stalking,"
"It's coincidence, I promise." You hadn't completely kept out the part where you two hated each other, you made sure that was clear, but you sure as hell kept out the why. Mar was trustworthy, sure, but you didn't even want to remember he was Batman. It made you anxious and nervous to think about him in the suit. Then you would've had to explain that you and Bruce were now circling each other with ammo pointed at the other's chest if one of you stepped out of line.
"I don't know, it sounds creepy. What if he shows up here in the middle of the night..." Mar trailed off when she saw you look away. You hadn't told Mar about your mom yet, and didn't know if you wanted to for fear of it becoming more real. You wanted to leave that out of Gotham. Leave the trauma, leave the guilt, leave it for the weekends when you would fly back. You shrugged and made a joke about getting to be associated with a billionaire. "Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he got papped here. Might boost my journalistic impact." The conversation moved away from Bruce after that, and you and Mar spent the rest of the evening talking, eventually laying in bed scrolling Scypher on your respective phones. The second you loaded the app, however, you saw a Dior ad everyone in Gotham was swooning over, and couldn't hold back your gasp.
He had not only been photographed often by paparazzi, it seemed, going on regular walks to downtown shops and local charity events, but this was his first official campaign. Mar leaned over and nodded, saying 'everyone' was talking about the photo. "I thought you'd already seen it, that's why you brought him up."
"No, I haven't." You scrolled through the comments trying to hold back a cringe.
He can top me
BARK BARK BARK
y did he keep his BEAUTY FROM US FOR SO LONG???????????
daddy
when is the rest of the campaign dropping asking for a friend
You turned your phone off and rolled over in bed. You told Mar goodnight (she decided to spend the night since she hadn't seen you in so long), murmuring something about having to be up the next day for your orientation. Bruce Wayne. Billionaire playboy. What the fuck happened with him?

âSoldier, are we done for today?â You hopefully look at Bucky when he walks inside the examination room. Your face falls seeing Steve by his side. âPlease?â
âWe are almost done for today,â Steve softly says. âOur friend will run a few more tests, okay.â
You reluctantly nod.Â
âThey mean no harm,â Bucky adds. You visibly relax at his words. âHow about we have lunch together? All of us.â He holds out his hand and forces a smile on his face.
âYes,â you grab his hand and smile widely. âCan we have dessert too? I miss ice cream. I havenât had some in ages.â
âWhy?â Steve asks. âIce cream is great.â
âThey said itâs bad andâŚâ You suck in a breath. The words just slipped out of your mouth before you could stop them. âSugar is badâŚfeelings tooâŚâ
âDoll,â Bucky wraps his arms around you when you start to cry. âHey, you can eat as much ice cream as you want to.â
âWhat if I canât heal you because I ate sugar? What if you die?â You fist Buckyâs shirt. âI canât risk losing you. It will be all my fault if you canât be healed.â
Steve chokes out a sob. He witnessed Hydraâs cruelty more than once. But your broken voice telling them all the things Hydra planted in your young mind when you were a child, is unbearable to him.
âThey wonât know, Y/N,â Steve tries once again to get your attention. âBucky is healthy and strong. If he gets hurt, we can help him at the medic bay. We have doctors, and I can donate blood for him too. Iâm a super-soldier, remember?â
âYou can?â You lift your head and sniffle. âIs your blood as good as mine? Maybe itâs not as goodâŚâ
âY/N, Iâm your father. We share the same blood,â Steve holds back another sob when you reluctantly let go of Bucky to step toward him. âIâm a universal donor too.â
âOh!â Your smile widens and you grasp Steveâs hand. âYou can save my soldier too! Wonderful!â
Steve holds back a sigh. Your whole world seems to revolve around his friend. Since they broke the barrier you built in your mind to protect yourself from remembering your past, you lost interest in anything but Bucky.Â
âWe should eat now,â Steve murmurs, afraid to scare you off if he speaks any louder. âWhat do you like?â
âPasta and ice cream,â you dreamily say. âMaybe we can have chocolate too, and pudding. I love pudding.â
âHmmâŚtastes great,â you shovel the pasta in your mouth, ignoring people staring at you and the super-soldiers at your table. âWhat?â You cock a brow. âItâs good.â
âYou should slow down,â Steve whispers, afraid to draw too much attention toward your table. âThere is more than enough.â
âItâs delicious and I donât want you to steal my food,â you pout at Steve before you look at Bucky. âWhy donât you eat, soldier? You need food to stay strong and healthy.â
âIâm good,â Bucky barely touched the food in front of him. On your way to the restaurant, you talked non-stop about your past, and all the things your so-called parents forbid you. Like playing with your dolls or spending time with other kids.
You nod but worry Bucky might be sick. âAre you sick? Do you need me to help you?â You slip off the chair to press the back of your hand to Buckyâs forehead. âNo temperature. Thatâs good. Youâre not having a fever then.â
âY/N,â Steve gets up from his chair to stop you from examining Bucky. âPlease eat your food. Bucky is not sick. You need the food more than him.â
âOkay.â
Steve pulls the chair for you, nodding at his friend. âYou need to eat something too, Buck. We donât want Y/N to worry about you. Give her what she needsâŚâ
âIâll eat, doll,â Bucky lifts the spoon to his mouth. âSee. No reason to worry about me all the time.â
You shyly glance at your plate. There is chaos in your mind. A part of you wants to be close to Bucky, and make sure heâs safe. And the little part thatâs left of the shy librarian is screaming bloody murder and begs you to run for the hills if you get the chance to do so.
So far, you donât know which part of your personality will win the war going on inside of you. Youâd love it to be the part wanting to be close to Bucky. Because without him, who are you?
Steve shows you around the apartment they prepared at the Avengersâ tower for you. You follow him, barely sparing the furniture and decoration a glance.
âWe got most of your things, some books too. If you need anything else, please let me know,â he hopefully looks at you, waiting for your response.
âThatâs very kind of you, and Mr. Stark butââ you chew on your lower lip, afraid to anger the super-soldier. âCan I not stay with my soldier?â
âY/N,â he sighs. âI know something tells you that you must stay close to Bucky, but itâs best if you stay here for a while. You need to time on your own, and to sort your thoughts.â
âI wantââ you shake your head. âI need to stay close. Please donât leave me here all alone with my thoughts. Please.â You grab Steveâs hand, tugging hard. âPlease DadâŚdonât leave me alone with themâŚâ
âWith whom?â he softly asks. âY/N?â
âThe ghosts of my past,â you whimper. âI can hear them in my head now. Mom. Dad. My aunt. The doctors. The men with the guns,â you sniffle. âThey are screaming at me. If Iâm close to the soldier, they are gone.â
âOh, Y/N,â Steve wraps you in a hug. âI donât know if itâs a good idea. Bucky hates himself for kidnapping and hurting you. He blames himself for forcing you to remember your past.â
âI hated my life before the soldier found me again. Nightmares and flashbacks arenât new to me. I just didnât know why the voices followed me around. At least now I know that Iâm not crazy.
âIf you want me to, Iâll ask Bucky if itâs okay that you stay with him for tonight.â
âPlease.â
Steve wishes youâd seek his closeness. Youâre a grown woman, still, Steve feels like heâs holding a newborn child in his arms. Not days ago, he believed heâd never get the chance to become a father, and now heâs holding his child in his arms. Â
âWe will ask him together. Okay. Donât worry. Bucky is a good man and will not send you away. Get a few things and Iâll be waiting outside for you.â
Steve steps away to leave the room. Heâs still torn between protecting you from his best friend and being happy that you trust Bucky enough to feel safe close to him.
âYouâd have been a much better dad,â you murmur as Steve grabs the door handle. âNow I know why they never told me about you.â
âI wish I knew about you, Y/N. Iâd have come to your aid and saved you and Bucky.â
âI know.â
âNo programming and no manipulation?â Tony huffs. âThatâs impossible. Itâs like sheâs programmed to follow Barnes like a puppy.â
Shuri shakes her head. âYou donât understand. In a way, she got manipulated by Hydra. But â the part of Y/N seeking White Wolfâs closeness is the part that remembers his kindness in times of need. I talked to her for hours and ran all the tests. Itâs her, nothing more and nothing less.â
âI donâtââ Tony shakes his head. âHowâs that possible?â
âHer vulnerable soul and broken mind tried to find a way to bear all the pain and treatment. Somehow, a bond between these tortured souls formed so many years ago. And I think itâs unbreakableâŚâ
âSold-â you stop yourself from pouncing on Bucky. You nervously shuffle from one foot to the other, waiting for Bucky to tell you to get closer. âBucky.â
âHi,â Bucky offers a weak smile. âHow are you?â
âIâŚâ Dropping your gaze you shrug. âI donât know, to be honest. I remember everything now. Hydra. You. My parents, who werenât my parents. My time as a librarian. The soldier protecting me.â
âI remember you now too,â he slowly steps closer and holds out his hand. âBack then I made a promise to you. Do you remember?â
âYes,â you nod and smile. âYou said that no one will ever hurt me again. That youâll save me and get me away from the bad people.â
âI will keep that promise from now on. I failed you in the past,â he takes your hand to gently hold it, âI wonât fail this time...â
The End...?

âş if there's anything Jonathan hates more than cynical people, it's cynical people who try their hand at flirting with you. especially when it's pretty obvious you're with him. Jonathan is attending a fundraiser at the Wayne Mansion s he's a donor for the event, and he brought you at his plus one, of course.
âş he usually pays no mind to people staring at you, he can't blame them- you're stunning. but when someone engages in conversation with you with certain intentions, that's when Jonathan gets pissed. so when Bruce Wayne, of all people, decides to strike up a conversation with you, Jonathan gets a little heated. he stepped away from you momentarily to chat with another doctor he knows, which he never does for this exact reason.
âş "everything alright, darling?" Jonathan asks airily as he approaches you and Bruce, his arm snaking around your waist possessively. "of course," you smile, unaware of the steam practically coming out of Jonathan's ears. he glares at Bruce, who does nothing except kindly smile at Jonathan, "is this your partner, Dr. Crane?" "yes, it is. in fact, we've been together for quite some time now. isn't that right, sweetheart?" "that's right," you keep the smile on your face, albeit confused. jonathan grins contently, and Bruce clears his throat, "well, it was nice talking with you, y/n. Dr. Crane, it was nice seeing you again." Jonathan hums in response, and Bruce departs from the conversation. you shake your head at your boyfriend, who just blinks at you without expression.
âş jonathan also gets possessive when you're out in public. he's always holding your hand, has his arm around you, or insinuates a fair amount of PDA to show others who you belong to.
âş he's also a stickler for leaving marks on you- whether that's hickies or bruises on your neck from choking you. it lets others know you're taken. he hates it when you cover the marks with makeup.
âş in bed, jonathan loves asking you who your pussy belongs to. he also will take the reins most of the time. missionary is preferred so he can have good access to your neck and shoulders to bite into. if in doggy, he'll leave a line of marks down your spine, especially during warmer months when you show your back more.
âş he's gone as far as sending grotesque things to exes or people who try to flirt with you at work. ranging from dead animals to excrement or threatening anonymous letters. when you found out, jonathan got an earful, but it wasn't enough to stop him, it never is.
âş he'd even go as far as killing someone to protect you and keep you. it hasn't resulted in that yet, but the threat still holds.

She's a beautiful woman with a heart and soul to match it. But, she's dying.
Her heart, it's killing her. She has everything, except a heart donor. Her heart has a hole, and it's keeping her from living her life.Â
âM-Mom..I-I can't breathe, it hurts...â Then everything faded to black.
Y/N woke up in a room with clean white walls, crisp white bed sheets and the sickening smell of disinfectant. The only thing she could hear was the silent beeping of the monitor, she was in the hospitalâagain.Â
Y/N closed her eyes shut, she didn't want to be in this place. She had already spent all her life in hospitals, she didn't want to die in one. Then, she heard hushed voicesâone of which was her mother.
âDoc, is my daughter okay? Will she be okay?â her mom asked, her voice shaky.
âI'm sorry, Mrs. L/N.âÂ
âH-how long?âÂ
âSix monthsâa year, if we're lucky.âÂ
Y/N's mom let out a shaky exhale, âIs...is there any other way?âÂ
âThe only way your daughter can survive is a heart transplant. Your daughter's condition is very critical, and there may be some complications if the transplant isn't done as soon as possible. That six months? It could be possible that she'd die today, tomorrow, next week, next month. Anything can happen, and if I were you I'd find a donor as soon as possible.â Then the doctor left, leaving Y/N's mom to break down silently.Â
âM-Mom?â Y/N asked in a hoarse dry voice.
Her mom turned around, and forced a smileâher cheeks were stained with fresh tears and her eyes were red and puffyâprobably from being sleep deprived.Â
âMom, am I going to die?â Y/N whispered, her voice breaking. Her mom quickly rushed to her side, hugging her tight.Â
âMom, I'm- I don't wanna die! I can't die! I want to chase my dreams, Mom! I want to live-â
âIt's going to be alright, sweetheart. I won't let you die, I won't.â
Y/N felt the whole world crumble. She was too young to die. She was barely even in her early twentiesâshe was only twenty threeâand already spent her life in hospitals. She wasn't even finished with college, all she wanted to do ever since she was a little girl was to be a lawyer, and now with her declining condition it would be a miracle to reach 24. She isn't supposed to die, she was supposed to live her dreamsânot be stuck in a hospital room or six feet under ground.Â
It has been two weeks since Y/N's diagnosis. And still, she had no donor. It was honestly nerve wrackingâsimply knowing that your days are limited, Y/N had no idea if she'd be alive the next day or even the next hour. It was torture, her heart and chest aching every minute of day. She couldn't get out of her bedâor even eat for that matter.Â
Y/N L/N had a lot of things on her list she wanted to do. She had dreams, big fucking dreams. Y/N dreamt of becoming one of the most prestigious lawyers the world has ever seen. She was a bright kid growing upâshe always had good grades and usually never let her illness get the best of her, but when it did she made sure to still make an effort to complete each and every homework assignment. And now because of her illness, she'd lose all of the good things in her life. There were so many things Y/N still wanted to do, and one of them was falling in love.Â
Y/N sighed, she was tired of her life being a complete opposite of what she wanted. She grabbed her phone from her nightstand and scrolled through her tiktok, hoping for a bit of good news around the worldâlike world peace or maybe mother earth is healing.Â
âTimothĂŠe Chalamet's girlfriend, dead on the spot in a car crash!â
âPoor guy.â Y/N muttered as she read the comments on the video. Why was life that cruel? Sure, Y/N didn't know the guy, but based on the comments he loved his girlfriend.Â
âY/N, darling! It's time for dinner! You still need to take your medicine!â Y/N's mom called from downstairs. Y/N slowly stood up, her vision was suddenly blurryâher chest tightened and her heart felt like it was stabbedâthis wasn't like any episode she ever had. She fell to the floor with a loud thud, her eyes fighting to stay open.Â
The last thing Y/N heard was her mom screaming for help before everything went pitch black.
TimothĂŠe woke up with a terrible feeling, like something had happenedâor something bad was going to happen. He had just gotten home from Paris fashion week and he was still jet lagged. TimothĂŠe brushed the feeling off, yawning as he got up from his bed, walking to his bathroom to get ready for the dayâeven if he had nothing to do.Â
Suddenly his phone rang, it was Zendaya.Â
âWhat's up, Z?â TimothĂŠe asked, his voice still groggy.Â
âAre you okay? Fuck, I can't imagine what you're feeling right now, Tim. Condolence-â TimothĂŠe's eyes widened, âWhat the hell are you talking about, Z?âÂ
âOh shit, you don't know yet?âÂ
âWhat do I don't know, Zendaya? You're scaring me.âÂ
âI'm so sorry, Tim. Check the news.â TimothĂŠe quickly ended the call. He opened every social media account that he had, until he found the news.
âTimothĂŠe Chalamet's girlfriend, dead on the spot in a car crash!â
TimothĂŠe felt his whole world shatter. He felt numb as tears prickled against his eyes, beginning to stream down his face. TimothĂŠe called his girlfriend's best friend, frantically asking what hospital she was taken to. He grabbed his car keys and bolted out of his house. TimothĂŠe was shaking, he wanted to kill whoever crashed into his girlfriend's car. He drove as fast as he could, his vision was getting blurred by tearsâbut he didn't care. He needed to get to her. He needed to get to his Kaylee.Â
As soon as TimothĂŠe arrived at the hospital, he parked his carânot caring if it was too far from the entranceâand ran toward the hospital.
âWhere's Kaylee Jenkins!?â TimothĂŠe practically screamed at the nurse on duty.
âTimothĂŠe.â He looked back and saw his and Kaylee's friends, Tom and Hannah.Â
âWhere is she!?â TimothĂŠe roared, grabbing Tom's collar angrily.Â
âCalm down, TimothĂŠe!â Hannah snapped at him, pulling him off of Tom.Â
âHow am I supposed to calm down!? My girlfriend is dead! The love of my fucking life is dead! Tell me where the fuck she is before I fucking lose it!âÂ
âTimothĂŠe Hal!âÂ
âTell me!â TimothĂŠe yelled again.Â
Tom sighed, feeling hurt for his friend, âTake him to Kaylee. I'll wait for Zendaya and Kaylee's family.âÂ
Hannah led TimothĂŠe to the morgue. As soon as she opened the door, TimothĂŠe saw herâthe only body inside of the morgueâcovered by a white sheet. He let out a shaky breath before he slowly lifted the cloth covering Kaylee's face.Â
His beautiful Kaylee, bruised and bloody.
âI'll leave you alone for a bit.â Hannah patted him on his shoulder, before walking out and giving him time with his beloved.Â
TimothĂŠe stared at Kaylee, the woman he loved for three years, the woman he wanted to marryâgoneâtaken away from him. He touched her lips that he always kissed, her nose that always scrunched when she got annoyed, and her once rosy cheeks that he loved to pinch. He kissed her forehead, for the last time.
âI love you, Kaylee.â TimothĂŠe whispered, tears streaming from his green eyes. âYou're so unfair, Kaylee. You said that we'd be together forever, you said you'd never leave me, but you did. You promised we'd grow old together, that we'd build a life together....â TimothĂŠe sobbed, âI will never forget you, my love. I love you so fucking much, you're the only girl I will ever love like this.âÂ
Y/N woke up back in the hospital. Her mother was smiling from ear to ear, âWhat happened, Mom?â Y/N asked.Â
âYou fainted again. Don't worry, you're okay. You finally have a heart donor!â her mother smiled, âYou're going to live!âÂ
âReally?â Y/N almost squealed, âH-How? What happened?âÂ
Y/N's mom softy smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead. âSadly, another girl passed away, but her parents agreed to donate her heart for you. But you're going to live, sweetheart. You're going to live and be able to grow old.â she whispered.Â
âThank you, Mom.âÂ
Y/N finally felt hope for one, hope for her future, hope for her life. She finally had a chance to live, without worrying if one day her heart would just stop. It was a miracleâa chance to know how her life would turn out. A gift she'd be thankful for the rest of her life.Â
Y/N asked her mother who was her heart donor. Her mother said it was from a girl who died in a car accident. Y/N was first on the list of donees, and her mother had already talked to her donor's parentsâthey agreed, because somehow they could feel their daughter's presence even if she's gone, because I'd have her heart. Everything was ready, she would be operated on as soon as possible. Â
After the operation, Y/N woke up with her mother beside her.Â
âMom?â Y/N croaked out.Â
âY/N.â Her mother smiled at her, tears were forming in her mother's eyes.Â
âWhy are you crying, mom?âÂ
âI thought I'd lose you forever, Y/N/N.â her mother sniffled, âI'm so happy, darling. You're alive and well, what more can a mother ask for?â
After a week, Y/N finally went home. She'd continue her recovery at home, and day by day she was getting better.Â
Six months later.
âY/N, darling? Go get ready, we're going somewhere.â Â
âWhere are we going?â Y/N asked.Â
âThe parents of the girl who donated your heart wants to meet you.â
âOh, okay. I'll go get ready.â Y/N smiled at her mother before turning to get ready.Â
She was going to meet the parents of the person who gave her a chance to live again.Â
Y/N and her mother drove an hour and a half to a house in the Bronx. As soon as Y/N got out of the car, she saw a man with beautiful green eyes and chocolate brown curls looking at her. Her heart suddenly started pounding in her chest. The man gave her a small smile, before walking away. He looked miserableâlike he hasn't slept in daysâmonths even.Â
âGood morning, Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins.â Y/N's mother greeted an older coupleâthey were around their late forties.
âOh nonsense! Call us Marian and Adam.â the womanâMarianâsmiled warmly. âAnd you must be Y/N, right?â Y/N nodded, âYes, ma'am.â Suddenly, both Marian and Adam hugged her tightly. Y/N stumbled back a bit, but she let them hug her. She assumed it felt comfortingâmaybe because they could hear their daughter's heart inside her.Â
âSorry, I hope you don't mind,â the older woman apologised as she pulled away from Y/N, âIt's just, it feels like I'm hugging Kaylee again and-âÂ
âNo worries Marian,â Y/N smiled, âYou can hug me as long as you want. I may not be Kaylee, but I can be like a daughter to you.âÂ
Marian started to sob, âThank you, Y/N. It means a lot to me, to us.âÂ
Then suddenly, the man who Y/N saw earlier came up to her and hugged her tight. She didn't know what was happening, the man was hugging her tightâtighter than what Marian and Adam did. But, Y/N didn't pull away. His hug felt like coming home. Y/N felt her heart beat rapidly, like banging drums.Â
After a few minutesâyes, minutesâthe man pulled away from Y/N. The two locked eyes, and Y/N felt time stood still around her, like everything was a movie.Â
Marian and Adam led Y/N and her mother to their backyard. They talked for a bitâtold her to take care of herself and always stay safe. Of course they'd say that, because their daughter's heart was inside her. Â
Y/N found out the name of the man who hugged her. He was TimothĂŠe Chalamet, Kaylee's boyfriend of three years. He's a famous actor, but Y/N didn't know him. How would she even know him? She spent all her life inside hospitalsâshe really didn't have the time to watch movies or Hollywood dramas.Â
âHey, it's been great meeting you and, uh-this may be an awkward o-or forward question, but, uh-do you think I can get your number? I'd like to get to know you better.â TimothĂŠe asked, a hopeful look plastered on his face.Â
âYeah sure, it's no problem.â
Ever since Y/N and TimothĂŠe exchanged numbers, theyâve been texting each other back and forth. It even became Y/Nâs routine to start her day with sending him a âgood morningâ and ending it with a reply to Timotheeâs âgoodnightâ.Â
Until one day TimothĂŠe texted her, asking if she'd like to go out with him.Â
Hey
What's up, Tim?
Do you have plans tomorrow night?
Uh, none that I could think of. Why?
Can I ask you out?
What?
On a date. Or maybe just hang out? I don't know, we can do whatever you want.Â
When Y/N read his offer to go on a date and she squealed into her pillow, kicking her feet up in the air at the excitement rumbling in her stomach. She knew it was wrong. He was-or is still grieving, he just lost his girlfriend of three years in an instant. But with his charming words, his sexy voice, mesmerizing green eyes, and his perfect face she couldn't help a slight crush forming. She was talking to a celebrity, and it felt like a dreamâlike something you'd see only in movies.Â
âMom, TimothĂŠe just asked me out.âÂ
âWhat? Really? Y/N, that's amazing! You're going on a date for the very first time!â her mom teased.Â
Y/N has never exactly been on a date before but this is how it would be like, right?Â
The next day, Y/N got ready for her dateâor to hang out with TimothĂŠe, as a friendâ or maybe something more? hopefully anyways. She was giddy, she was going on a date with a handsome guy who just so happened to be a famous actor. Who wouldn't be excited? Y/N wore a simple off-shoulder blue dress that flourished just above her knees and some white strappy wedge heels. Her hair was braided to the side with some simple lip gloss, foundation, and blush for makeup.Â
After waiting for what felt like hours, their doorbell rang. It's him, he's actually here, picking her up for an entire day together. When Y/N opened the door, she saw him wearing a white shirt under a leather jacket paired with denim jeans. His hair was perfectly messyâY/N wanted to run her fingers through his curls so badly. TimothĂŠe Chalamet is undeniably handsome, as if he was carved by the gods.Â
âY-you look beautiful, Y/N.â
âThanks, you look good too.â Y/N chuckled nervously. TimothĂŠe led Y/N to his car and opened the door for her. TimothĂŠe took Y/N to one of his favourites. Buvette Gastrothequeâa small french cafĂŠ in West Village. The place was cosy, quaint, and there weren't a lot of people. Sitting down at a small table, TimothĂŠe ordered the COQ au Vin while Y/N got the Salade de Poulet. They paired it off with red wine, and chocolate mousse for dessert. As they waited for their food to arrive, TimothĂŠe and Y/N talked about life, interests, favourite foods, and surprisinglyâthey had a lot in common.Â
âY/N?âÂ
âHm?âÂ
âI know we've only been talking for a month, but i need to tell you something.â TimothĂŠe grabbed her hand, intertwining it with his, âI'mâŚ.. well, uh- starting to see you a little differently.. You know? I just-â he sighs, âI feel something for you, Y/N. And I wanna know if you would ever feel the same way.â
Y/N felt the world around her stop, her eyes locking with his. Ever since he asked for her number she knew she was going to love him, but she didn't feel as happy as she thought she would be. Instead, she felt a pit slowly sinking to her stomach.Â
It was wrong.Â
Absolutely wrong.
It's been less than a year since Kaylee passed and he's already moving on, what if he doesn't actually like her but rather the heart she now wore. Y/N was speechless. She couldn't utter a word. She wanted to say she was slowly getting feelings for him too, but she knew she couldnât.Â
âTimothĂŠe....â
âY/N, please. Think about it. Give me an answer when you're ready. Just....please give me a chance.â

Fast forward a few months and the reader finds out sheâs pregnant. When she tells Addison she is over the moon. She kisses the reader and ends up proposing to her. Another fast forward and they end up having a baby boy. Fluffy please?
â đťđđđ'đ đđ â
đđđ§đđŁđ: Addison Montgomery x f!reader âĄ
đź/đŁ: So sorry for the wait, I wasn't feeling good :( But I hope you'll like it!
What's more beautiful than being with someone you like? It's hard to say. You and Addison looked so good together and you both recently decided to try for a baby. Both you and her were thrilled with this choice and were looking forward to nothing more than to have a family.
Since Addison had little chance of getting pregnant, everything was staked on you, the idea of carrying your child made you even more proud and eager to become a mother.
You started with a few donations, choosing a decent donor was as hard as fun, but unfortunately you weren't immediately lucky. You were both doctors, you knew it would take time, so you didn't let yourself be discouraged. Let's say that after other unsuccessful attempts, your enthusiasm gradually vanished, but Addison had that energy that she was able to transmit to you continuously, so you continued to believe it. God, how much you loved her.
Finally, just when you didn't expect it, it happened. You were pregnant. The answer to the test was more than clear, you must have watched it at least a dozen times before realizing it. You couldn't wait to tell her, you were so happy, her reaction would surely be double yours. And to surprise her by venting all your happiness, you have prepared an excellent dinner.
Addison returned about two hours later, it seemed more for you. She followed the delicious smell coming from the room where you were, welcoming you with a warm smile and giving you a light kiss on your lips.
"Wow, I'm so hungry" she said as you turned to her. "Hey, what's up?" she asked you having noticed your particular happiness.
"Addison Forbes Montgomery" you took her hands, making her feel more curious. "You have no idea how much I'll love you seeing you with our baby" her face lit up, she was probably still reworking. You placed her hands on your belly.
"You- you're pregnant?" her smile became the most beautiful thing for you in that moment.
"Yeah!" you exclaimed, unable to hold back your tears.
"Oh my God Y/n!" she kissed you intensely, then stopping everything to say something.
"Y/n L/n, you'll make me the happiest person giving me a baby and becoming my wife" she looked at your eyes, her words looked so serious and full of love. At that point the tears increased, you didn't know if for the hormones you had taken or for the inexplicable happiness, maybe for both. You began to sob laughing, unable to control yourself.
"Yes, yes, yes!!! I'd love to become your wife" you kissed her again, this time longer than before.
So the wedding and the baby have been the only priority to you in this period. Both had decided that the wedding would be after the baby's birth, also because you didn't want to seem an awful monster on the best day of your life.
For the baby you had done every possible exam, you wanted a beautiful healthy baby, and you'd do everything to make it sure. The funniest thing was that, well, barring your stupid hormones and weird cravings for food that no one would ever eat, you couldn't agree on just one name, you might even have combined all possibilities at the cost of pleasing both. He was a baby boy, and she'd liked to call him Henry, but you liked Jess more. So... Jenry...? For a while you thought that was better to stop thinking about it, at the sight of the baby it was hoped that the name would be chosen immediately.
When you was in labor she was in surgery, trying to save another baby. Let's say it, you were very stubborn, you would even have been able to stop labor with all your might just to have Addison with you.
"Where the fuck is the girl who's gonna be my wife?! I want her here!" you were yelling at anyone trying to calm you down, then Addison finally caught up with you and you began to realize the situation better.
"We're meeting our son, oh my God Y/n it's awesome, I love you so much!" she squeezed your hand as you screamed in pain between the thrusts.
"No, it's not-" you tried to tell her referring to the 'beautiful' experience you were passing at that moment.
When you were finally able to hug your son you did nothing but look at him laughing with tears in your eyes, you didn't believe that such a beautiful thing could grow inside you.
"Ryle" you said. "He's name is Ryle" you looked at Addison and then turned towards the cute baby boy you held.
"Yeah, Ryle. It's perfect" she kissed your forehead and gently stroked the baby's cheek.
In these two months Ryle had already grown a lot, he was becoming more and more adorable. Well, during your wedding ceremony he cried and screamed almost all the time, but somehow it made it special.
As soon as he was with either of you he calmed down, and there were no words to describe that feeling, where the son recognizes his own mother. But you can say you're proud of everything, of you, of Addison, of Ryle, of all of you together.
