The way Hyde and Donna are supposed to be for women’s rights but call Laurie a “slut” and a “whore”…

Will never get over the fact that Donna accused Eric of CHEATING because he dated someone while they were BROKEN UP. What? Is Donna the only one allowed to move on while Eric has to spend time pining over her?
Worst Girlfriend
So Donna Pinciotti is the worst gf in the history of television. She gets mad at Eric about shit and then doesn’t tell him why. She expects him to just “know” why she’s mad.
She gets mad at him for instance that he dated someone while they were broken up. She was dating Casey Kelso! She can’t get pissed at him for that. She hates that he has Playboys. Relax. Porn is there for a reason, it doesn’t mean anything. As long as it’s not child porn what does it matter? Looking isn’t the same as cheating.
Plus, it’s just fantasy. It’d be different if he was jerking off to pictures of a girl he actually knew. Which he actually does, that was the time to get mad.
But she gives back his promise ring, and then everyone burns Eric all the time, saying that he was the one who fucksed things up. No, no he wasn’t. They wanted different things, but that doesn’t mean that HE fucksed it up.
It is so annoying that they were endgame.
#that 70s show#donna pinciotti critical#once again I love her#but she pisses me off sometimes but ESPECIALLY in s4

max?
favorite thing about them
i love genuinely every single thing about her but the thing i love the MOST about max is how fucking like. ride or die she is within like SECONDS. she doesn’t have much time at all to form bonds with the boys in s2 before she’s digging through trash and hunting down monsters with them, and the way she stands up to billy and emphasizes him not hurting her friends anymore... god. GOD they’ve been friends for like a WEEK at the very most and she’d do fucking anything for them!! and EL!!! she wants so badly to be el’s friend in s2 and she gets turned down, but then in s3, she doesn’t like... hold a grudge against el for it at all. she’s a little confused at first, yeah, but she immediately welcomes el into her room and gives her advice and holds her hand and hypes her up... it’s just so much dude max has SUCH a big heart all she wants is friends to love and it fucks me up.
least favorite thing about them
it’s bad to criticize your own children like that :( it’s not good for their development you need to make sure your children know you’re a loving judgment-free zone and they can make mistakes and you’ll continue to support them and love them as they work to do better in the future <3
favorite line
already shouted this line out but “From here on out, you leave me and my friends alone. Do you understand?... SAY YOU UNDERSTAND! SAY IT! SAY IT!”
like i just. i think that’s in the top three most powerful moments of the whole fucking show. it’s not just max being a badass and protecting steve, it’s max standing up to her abuser who’s been terrorizing her the entire season!! and sadie fucking KILLED it i cannot watch that scene without crying no matter how many times i’ve seen it.
brOTP
lumax <3 i do love them in canon but i just like headcanoning max as a lesbian and i like the idea of her and lucas having a little steve and robin dynamic going on yknow?
OTP
elmax <3 i don’t rly want them to like Date so much as i am just like. obsessed with the idea of them having one of those little middle school/high school girl friendships where they’re very blatantly in love with each other but they both just think that’s What Having Female Friends Is Like and don’t even notice that they have the world’s biggest crushes on each other. like i just think that’s so fucking cute.
nOTP
uhhhh i’ve seen mike/max a couple times and i must say i do not get it they’d have like. eric foreman and donna pinciotti vibes. not the childhood friends aspect but the “both very obviously gay” aspect. i don’t even think they’re both necessarily gay like i could see them both being bi or whatever but i think if they dated they would turn each other gay like they would just be So fucking miserable and they would destroy their friend group by constantly getting into fights and making people pick sides.
random headcanon
max is actually not that strong of a swimmer she used to want to surf but then she realized she would absolutely fucking drown if she did that so she skateboards instead.
unpopular opinion
max was not a bad guy in s3 nor was she ooc. she was absolutely in-character and it makes perfect sense for her (a teenage girl with little relationship experience and multiple abusive men in her home life) to give el really drastic advice!! max wasn’t always right in s3, but she was always trying to do the right thing, and i think that makes for really strong conflict in a story!! also like. just bc max was more bubbly in s3 doesn’t mean she was ooc. like she’s just happier than she was in s2 because she made friends and she got billy to stop terrorizing her!!
song i associate with them
this is corny as fuck but california friends by the regrettes. i KNOW it’s corny it literally has california in the name but like. i had to. if i can make steve’s song “i am steve” by STEVE i can do this.
favorite picture of them
ok so this one is less my favorite picture of max and more my like favorite shot composition relevant to her character but
just. come on. come the fuck on. that one’s not fun tho so here <3
mustard lookin ass...

lucinda; that 70s show
Hey guys! So this is the first chapter to my that 70s show fic posted literally ten minutes ago on Wattpad lols. I wanted to post the first chapter here as well to see if anyone was interested, it is on Wattpad @ weloveafan please check it out!!
[ Eric Forman's Basement, Point Place, Wisconsin ]
"Eric, it's time." Steven Hyde glared at his friend who sank further into his chair.
"Why don't you do it?" Eric asked.
"It's your house."
"Your house." Michael Kelso repeated from his spot next to Hyde.
"C'mon, don't be such a loser Forman." Lucie Burkhart rolled her eyes at the overly nervous boy. She hopped up to sit on the dryer, keeping her harsh gaze on Eric, making him shrink back further.
Hyde waved her off, and pointed upstairs. "Listen to them up there. The party has reached critical mass. In ten minutes, there will be no more beer opportunities."
Eric's parents were throwing a party and his friends (plus Lucie) were trying to get him to sneak beers from his dad's fridge while all their parents were distracted.
"If my dad catches me copping beers, he'll kill me!" His eyes widened in fear.
"What a shame." Lucie shot him a fake smile.
She was ignored once again. Hyde slapped Eric's knee and looked deep into his friend's eyes. "I'm willing to take that risk."
Kelso tried to reassure Eric. "Don't worry about it. Just remain calm, keep moving."
Donna Pinciotti looked at them all urgently, cutting Kelso off. "And above all, don't get sucked into my dad's hair."
Eric furrowed his eyebrows. "What's wrong with your dad's hair?"
Donna and Lucie shuddered, the brunette having unfortunately seen Bob Pinciotti's awful perm when she arrived to the Forman house earlier. "Just don't look at it." Donna warned, leaning back in her own chair.
Hyde stood in front of Eric, holding his face in his hands. "And Eric, cold. Definitely cold." The two shared a small nod of understanding, and with a new burst of confidence Eric rushed upstairs to get them beer.
"Do you think he's really gonna do it?" Donna turned around to ask Lucie.
The brunette scoffed, flipping through a random magazine that was next to her. "Not a chance." She rolled up the magazine and threw it at Hyde, internally cheering when it hit him on the shoulder. "Hey Hyde, ten bucks Red will kill him before he even steps one foot in the kitchen."
He smirked, pushing his tinted glasses back up his nose. "You're on, Luce." He picked up the fallen magazine, smirking as he saw it was an old Playboy. He sat back down on the couch next to Kelso, flipping through it. "Check it out." He held the magazine so the other boy could see.
Donna stepped behind the couch, looking over their shoulders. "Lucie and I see that every day."
"And you never will." Lucie smirked at the flustered boys, giving Donna a high five.
To the brunette girl's surprise, Eric returned to the basement unscathed and unfortunately very much alive, and with five beers in hand.
"He's alive!" Kelso sprung off the couch and snatched his beer from Eric.
Eric cheered and passed the rest of the beers out, childishly sticking his tongue out when he got to Lucie. "Good news. My dad is thinking of giving me the Vista Cruiser."
"You're getting a car?" Kelso asked in disbelief.
Donna grinned. "Have I ever told you how incredibly attractive you are, Eric?"
"No." He raised an eyebrow, playing along with Donna.
Kelso turned to Donna confused. "You told me he was cute."
"No I didn't." Donna turned away from Kelso, embarrassed. Lucie snickered at her friend.
"I remember 'cause you said not to say anything in front of Eric." Kelso kept going.
Lucie sighed, cracking open her beer can. "Oh Kelso, never change."
Hyde raised his beer in a toast. "Let's focus on what's important here people. Forman stole something. To Forman."
They all raised their beers in response.
"To Forman!"
⟺
Once again, Lucie found herself in Eric Forman's basement with the others. This time, with the addition of her younger cousin Jackie Burkhart who was dating Kelso. Jackie was also the one who introduced her to the rest of the gang.
Three months ago, Lucie left her parents in New York City and ended up at her uncle's house in Point Place, Wisconsin. Lucie and her parents moved to New York when she was eight, and she hasn't been back to her home town since. In fact it was the last place she wanted to go, but after calling her cousin, Jackie managed to convince Lucie that it was time to go back home.
Despite the hatred Lucie held for the small town, she was ecstatic to see her cousin again since the two girls managed to remain close. The first day that Lucie came back, Jackie practically dragged her to Eric's basement to meet her boyfriend and his friends. At first, Lucie thought they were all incredibly annoying, but the more time she spent with them the closer they became. Unfortunately, Lucie could tell that they all did not like her cousin and it put her in an extremely awkward position.
Today, they were watching television with the sound turned down and making up their own dialogue. Eric, Donna, Kelso, and Lucie all thought it was entertaining, but Jackie did not.
"Marcia, a football in the face. That's gotta hurt." Eric laughed.
"Ouch, my nose!" Donna said in a high pitched voice.
"That's gonna be huge in the morning."
"Huger than my boobs?"
"Bigger than the left one!" Eric said, making them all burst into laughter.
Jackie sat under Kelso's arm with her arms crossed over her chest. "Why are we watching this without the sound? I am totally confused."
"Just use the earphone." Lucie pointed to the earphone resting on the small coffee table. Eric picked it up and handed it to Jackie who begrudgingly put it in her ear.
"So, what's the deal with the Vista Cruiser?" Kelso asked Eric.
"The deal is, there is no deal yet." He replied, disappointed. Eric was going to keep talking but was interrupted by Jackie shushing them.
Kelso looked at his girlfriend, waiting for her to turn her attention back to the television before whispering to the others. "How are we gonna get to the concert?"
"Shut up!" Eric and Donna snapped, each slapping Kelso on the arm making the boy cry out in pain.
Lucie's brow furrowed, she didn't know about any concert.
"What concert?" Jackie glared at her boyfriend.
Kelso smiled nervously. "Uh... Todd Rundgren."
"When?"
"This weekend."
She raised her eyebrows. "Oh, who's going?"
"Eric, and Donna, and me, and Hyde, and the foreign kid Fez. Pretty much everybody." He stuttered, and quickly added, "And you!" Jackie looked at him expectantly. "And Lucie!"
"Gee, thanks for the invitation Kelso." Lucie smiled sarcastically, crossing her arms over her chest. She didn't want to admit that she was a little hurt by their lack of consideration. Eric and Donna groaned, glaring at Kelso for inviting the Burkhart girls. Donna and Lucie were friends, but the gang didn't want to invite her because then they knew she wouldn't go without Jackie.
"Good, thank you for telling us, Michael." Jackie smiled and settled back into his side.
"I'm getting a soda." Eric practically jumped off the couch to avoid Lucie's piercing gaze, Donna following right after.
"Not so fast, traitors." Lucie glared, chasing after Eric up the stairs. Kelso tried to follow them but Donna shoved him back down into his seat, before following her friends upstairs.
Eric practically hid behind Donna as the three teens stood in his kitchen. She may be small, but Lucinda Burkhart was terrifying.
"Sorry we didn't invite you, Luce." Donna said genuinely. "But you can totally come!"
She smiled at her friend. "Thanks Donna. I'd love to." She shot one last glare at Eric before turning to go back to the basement. "Let's get back down there before they start making out."
The three ran back down the stairs, returning to their previous spots. Kelso practically threw Jackie off of him, confirming Lucie's suspicions that they were making out.
" So Jackie, I guess you're going to the concert with us." Eric said, awkwardly.
"I can't wait." She clapped her hands. Jackie turned back around to Kelso. "Michael, you wanna go back to my house and listen to Todd Grunion records?"
Lucie giggled at her cousin's mispronunciation.
"Yeah, sure." Kelso sprang up the couch, grabbing Jackie's hand and dragging her up the stairs.
Lucie sarcastically waved as they disappeared from sight, laughing with Eric and Donna.
"You kids have fun. Bye." Eric called, but they were already gone.
"Bye, bye, now." Donna said. "They're so darn cute. Minute you turn your back, they go at it like dogs."
"They're frisky." Lucie said, making Donna laugh.
The red head gathered her things and said goodbye to her friends, leaving Lucie and Eric alone in the basement. The two awkwardly sat on the couch together, scooting away from each other as they felt they were too close. Lucie turned her head to look at Eric, and the boy scrambled away from her and ran back up the stairs.
Lucie smiled and turned the television back on. "Too easy."
⟺
Lucie giggled at Hyde's annoyed glare as she kept blowing straw wrappers at him. The gang were hanging out at The Hub with a foreign exchange student named Fez. If she was being honest, he kind of creeped Lucie out, but he was harmless.
"Would you quit it!" Hyde snapped, throwing one of the wrappers back at Lucie. She stuck her tongue out at him and went back to eating her french fries. Hyde shot her one last glare before returning to the pinball machine.
Fez stood next to Hyde and leaned towards him. "I may not say this right because I am new to English, but she has tremendous breasts, yes?" He pointed at Lucie.
Hyde followed his movement, and smirked when he saw the brunette girl. He laughed as he saw Lucie's disgusted face, the girl obviously having heard Fez.
"Michael, who is this guy?" Jackie asked, also disgusted.
"Oh, that's Fez. He's a foreign exchange student." Kelso said, eating his hot dog.
"Who did we exchange for him?" Lucie wrinkled her nose, making Jackie laugh.
"Lucie, Donna, I need to go to the ladies room." Jackie stood up from her chair, waiting expectantly.
Donna pretended not to hear Jackie, but Lucie pulled her up from the chair, dragging the red head along behind them.
Fez took Jackie's place, standing in front of Kelso and Eric who were still seated. "I too must go to the bathroom. Eric?" He smiled as he waited for the boy to get up.
Eric looked at him, unimpressed. "No, it doesn't work that way with guys."
Hyde took Lucie's seat as he and Eric faced Kelso. "Kelso, how much longer are we gonna have to deal with the whole Jackie experience?"
Kelso leaned back in the chair. "Don't worry, I'm breaking up with Jackie. Lucie's way hotter." He nodded smirking at his friends.
"Never gonna happen." Hyde said immediately.
Kelso nodded, confidently. "It's over. She's cutting into my free time."
⟺
Lucie and Jackie were getting ready for the Todd Rundgren concert in her room. She was throwing clothes from her closet onto her bed, almost hitting Jackie in the face with a hanger. Like usual, Jackie got ready way too early and Lucie left it to the last minute.
"Careful!" Her cousin snapped, setting the hanger with the other clothes laid out on Lucie's pink bedspread.
"Sorry, Jackie!" Lucie's muffled voice responded. "Help me! I don't know what to wear." She stepped back into her room, looking at Jackie flip through her clothes.
"One step ahead of you." Jackie said, focused. She pulled out Lucie's favorite pair of flared jeans along with a black satin halter top. She shoved the outfit into her cousin's arms and pushed her into the bathroom to change.
Lucie smirked as she looked at her body in the mirror, feeling confident. The jeans hugged her hips in the perfect way, with the flares elongating her legs. The top accentuated her waist and left a little bit of her midriff exposed. She took her dark wavy hair out of the braid it was previously in and fluffed it up to give it some volume. She smiled to herself as she felt pretty for the first time in a while.
Jackie squealed as Lucie did a little turn. "You are brilliant Jackie."
"I know." She smiled. "You look great."
"Thanks." Lucie gave her cousin a hug. "Let's go, we're gonna be late."
The cousins met up with the rest of the gang in Eric's driveway, where they found the rest of the gang waiting for Eric to finish tuning up the car so they could go. As Eric finished tightening the tire, Kelso went to sit in the passenger seat.
"Kelso, that's sweet." Donna said, thinking he was holding the door open for her.
"Actually, I'm riding shotgun." Kelso said, confused trying to move past Donna.
"No, you're not." Donna pushed him out of the way.
"I'm not riding in the back." He scoffed, pointing at the back seat.
Donna crossed her arms. "Why don't we let Eric decide?" They both turned to look at Eric impatiently.
"Kelso..." he started, "get in the back."
Kelso groaned but moved into the backseat, letting Donna sit in the front. Jackie sat on Kelso's lap, to allow Fez and Hyde room in the back. Lucie stood awkwardly outside of the car still, unsure of where to go.
"Come on, Luce, get in!" Donna stuck her head out of the widow.
Hyde smirked as he raised his arms, inviting her to sit on his lap. Lucie glared at him, but got in the car anyway. She tried to sit as far away from Hyde as possible, but sitting on the very edge of his knee was not the most comfortable.
"Stop enjoying this." Lucie growled.
Hyde chuckled and wrapped his arms around her waist, keeping her secure. She could feel the rumbling of his chest. She huffed, but did not move away.
Red Forman came out of the house and leaned down to the driver's side window to talk to Eric. "Taking her for a spin?"
"Yes, sir." Eric clenched the steering wheel tightly, nervous about lying to his father about the concert.
Red smiled. "Well, have a good time. One more thing. Very important. About the car... she's old, so no trips out of town. Ever." He stood up and hit the roof of the car. "Well, have fun."
Eric's face paled at his father's warning. "I guess that's that. We're not going."
The gang all groaned in protest but Donna shushed them. "Eric, do you wanna go?" She looked at him.
"He said no trips out of town." Eric looked at Donna panicked.
"It's your car, Forman. Do you wanna go?" Lucie snapped, using the fact that he was scared of her to their advantage.
"But he's God." Eric whispered, his eyes wide with fear.
"I think God would want us to go to Milwaukee!" Kelso said.
"Eric, you are a seventeen year old man, I'm gonna go with whatever you say." Donna said seriously. The gang all waited a moment as Eric decided, but Lucie was fairly confident they were still going to the concert.
"It is my decision. And my decision is... we're going to a concert!"
"Atta boy, Forman!" Hyde cheered, slightly shaking Lucie making her laugh and hold onto Hyde for support.
⟺
It seemed like God did not want them to go to Milwaukee after all since Eric was forced to pull into a random gas station off the highway to get the Vista Cruiser looked at.
"I'm telling you, we're out of gas." Kelso insisted, leaning against the car with the other boys.
"We're not out of gas." Eric said, annoyed.
The mechanic finished looking under the hood of the car and stepped in front of them, wiping his hands on an old rag. "It's the battery. It's six years old and shot to hell."
Jackie, Donna, and Lucie got out of the car and stood next to the boys.
"I know, I'll call my dad." Jackie said, looking for change in her purse for the payphone.
They all shook their heads and spoke up at the same time, making Jackie confused. Eric pat Kelso's shoulder. "Kelso, tell her."
"He can't take the car out of town." Kelso said, matter of factly.
Jackie raised an eyebrow. "I'm not calling his dad."
Hyde groaned and pushed himself off of the car. "Jackie, parents talk to each other about how we screw up."
"Why would they talk about that?" She was still confused, and just wanted to get out of the gas station and to the concert.
"They can't help it." Eric said. "Look, say there's a party, see, and all of our parents are there. Together."
"Our parents would not do The Hustle." Lucie rolled her eyes as the boys finished their overdramatic prediction of what would happen if their parents were all in a room together.
"Guys we are in the middle of nowhere, and I have to go to the ladies room. Donna? Lucie?" Jackie grabbed their arms and pulled them over to the women's restroom.
"So where are you going?" The mechanic asked them.
Hyde took a sip of his soda. "Rundgren concert."
The mechanic nodded. "Cool. So what...do you want a battery, 'cause I can get you a battery."
"Are they cheap or possibly free?" Eric asked.
"Thirty two bucks, minimum." He shrugged.
Kelso leaned in close to the mechanic. "All right, I'll tell you what. We'll trade you our battery, plus five bucks for one of your batteries."
Hyde facepalmed.
The mechanic nodded, sarcastically. "That's a really sweet deal my friend, but how about this? How about one battery for two concert tickets?"
"We can't give up two tickets." Kelso shook his head.
The mechanic shrugged "Okay." He went back into the shop, leaving the teenagers outside.
"It's either that or none of us go." Eric said.
"So who's out?" Kelso asked.
Hyde hummed, sarcastically, like he was pretending to be thinking. "There's always Jackie."
Kelso smiled. "Of course Jackie. I mean, Jackie's gone, but who else?"
"I don't know, Jackie's cousin, or Jackie's date?" Eric suggested.
"Come on! You know I'm breaking up with her. You guys are chumping me out, make Lucie stay with her." Kelso complained, pleading with his friends.
Hyde shook his head. "No, Lucie stays."
"I've had to listen to Jackie for a good hour." Eric complained.
Fez spoke up. "A really long hour."
Kelso groaned. "God hates me."
Eric and Hyde left to give the tickets to the mechanic, leaving Kelso and Fez outside. Fez smiled at the boy, "How can you say God hates you? At least you have a woman's love. Be happy, whore."
⟺
The Todd Rundgren concert was the most fun Lucie has had in the past year, and she was really glad they ended up inviting her. They all held their lighters in the air, swaying back and forth to the music.
Fez looked behind them to see the mechanic and his date. "Guys, Randy's date is a man."
"Hey Randy!" Lucie called, waving to the man who waved back.
"I'm okay with it." Donna said. They all nodded, smiling.
"We are so cool to be okay with it!" Eric said, his arm around Donna's shoulders.
"I have to go to the bathroom. Kevin?" Randy said to his date, making Fez furrow his brow in confusion.
Eric pat his shoulder. "I'll explain later."
Hyde slid his arm around Lucie's waist, pulling her into his side. "You look great."
Her cheeks flushed, not used to a genuine compliment from Hyde. Usually they just messed around and wound each other up. He was rarely nice to Lucie because of his distaste for Jackie. "Thanks Hyde." She whispered, looking up at him. He nodded and returned his attention to the concert, but kept his arm wrapped around her waist.
Kelso, Jackie, and Fez went back inside Eric's house after they got back from the show, leaving Hyde and Lucie in the back of the car. Eric and Donna got out so they could talk on her porch.
The silence was slightly awkward as they sat in the car, they both didn't really know why they stayed behind. "Did you like the show?" Lucie asked, turning to face him.
Hyde nodded. "Yep."
Lucie nodded along, praying for it to stop being awkward. Lucie and Hyde faced each other as the air in the car shifted. The tension became thicker as they unknowingly started moving closer together. Hyde's gaze shifted to her plump lips and he found himself wanting to know what they felt like. Lucie didn't know why she suddenly wanted to kiss him so badly, but with a sudden boost of confidence she wrapped her hand around the back of his head and connected their lips. Hyde immediately reciprocated and cupped her jaw with one hand, wrapping the other around her waist, arching Lucie into him. He groaned as she lightly pulled on his hair, and that's when they realized what they were doing. They sprang apart, Lucie groaning as she hit her head on the roof of the car. Hyde scrambled out of the car, nearly tripping over himself as he gave Lucie one last look and went into the house without another word.
"What the hell just happened?"

❛ her mother told her she could grow up to be anything she wanted be, so she grew up to become the strongest of the strong, the strangest of the strange, the wildest of the wild, the wolf leading wolves. ❜
cis woman / she/her. ┊ if you’re looking for LILY EVANS, you’ll probably find HER in the GRYFFINDOR dorm with the rest of the SEVENTH years. they’re the TWENTY year old MUGGLEBORN who looks kind of like KENNEDY MCMANN. they seem DYNAMIC, HEADSTRONG & EMPATHETIC to me, but apparently they’re also DOMINEERING, POSSESSIVE & MORALLY ABSOLUTIST maybe that’s why they remind me of the sweet smell of rain after a storm, heart shaped cookies burning in an oven, promising forever only to be met with the end of the world, initials carved into trees that you wish would burn, smudged eyeliner, stacks and stacks of unread books.
links: stats, pinterest character parallels: jane villanueva (jane the virgin), claire randall (outlander), amy santiago (brooklyn nine-nine), erin (derry girls), donna pinciotti (that ‘70s show), shirley crain (the haunting of hill house)
the evans family, circa 1960 — practically perfect in every way. xavier evans was rising in the ranks of his job as a bank teller; petunia evans had recently learned how to walk and spent most of her time prancing around the small cokeworth estate; and annabelle evans had just given birth to the most beautiful baby girl, lily. nothing here could possibly go wrong.
and for the longest time, nothing did. little lily grew up in a household full of smiles, forming a particularly strong bond with her older sister and learning to love only in the largest of doses. for five years, the evans family were so picture perfect you might have even thought it fake, but no amount of love could ever be pretend with this small bunch - they simply knew that happiness was around every corner and chased it with all the childlike optimism the world had to offer.
it was once lily turned five that things took a turn for the worse. the little toddlers happiness and excitement could no longer be contained in such a small body and so instead decided to lash out on the house. beds floating, cats hurtling across the room, the bushes out the front blooming with red in the middle of winter. the simple and mundane had suddenly become anything but - lily jane evans was a witch.
but of course, that wouldn’t be explained for at least another three years. from the ages of five to eight, xavier and annabelle liked to believe that it was miracles that followed their beautiful baby girl. petunia, however, was not so forgiving. she feared for what her freak of a sister was capable of, but for the most part, she kept her fears to herself. her sister was still her sister, after all, and she would still try her best to love her as before.
it was in the summer of 1968 that lily first met severus snape - an odd little boy from the bad side of town, as petunia liked to call him. lily simply preferred to call him her best friend. lily and severus got on like a house on fire for the simple fact that severus seemed to be the only one who truly understood her. it was severus that first explained to lily what she truly was, and lily wholeheartedly believed him. petunia, of course, was furious for how the greasy little boy drove a wedge between her and her sister and was even more horrified to learn of what he was telling her - no one could do magic. not really. lily and severus were simple freaks.
the first time petunia called lily a freak, lily cried herself to sleep. what could possibly drive her sister, one of her closest friends, to say such a thing? she wasn’t lying. she really could do magic, and it was beautiful. and yet petunia refused to believe it, and for that, lily was devastated. all she wanted was to share her gifts with her sister and instead her gifts were exactly what drove them apart.
lily always lived to regret how she handled this gradual separation. her fervent heart turned quickly from love to anger, furious that petunia refused to share this gift with her, but of course she should’ve realised that it was still enough to love without magic getting in the way. she feels as though she shoved her magic in her sisters face and that is why petunia hates her, and if she could go back in time and pretend magic was nothing all for the sake of the sister, perhaps she would.
when a strange owl dropped a letter on the evans’ front door step explaining that magic really was real, lily couldn’t really say she was surprised. after all, sev had told her this day would come. she was over and done with the surprise and confusion and was now able to be wholly and completely ecstatic for her start at school.
what she didn’t expect, however, was to be torn away from her best friend on the first day. severus had explained the house system to her before, and she’d always wished to be in the house of the ferocious lions, she just hadn’t realised how polarising it would be to be a lion and to love a snake. for a while, she was seen once again as a freak, this time by her peers, and this time for many reasons: one, for fraternizing with the enemy, and two, for being a muggleborn.
just as when she had been called a freak the first time, lily cried when she was first called a mudblood. where had she gone wrong? severus had described hogwarts as somewhere magical, somewhere inviting, a home away from home, and yet here she was just as equally criticized, ostracized, and bullied as back at cokeworth. severus ended up being her only friend for months as she tried to find a way to fit in, and a part of her almost resented him for that.
but of course, lily jane evans is not just going to sit back and accept a terrible fate. lily jane evans is a fighter, first and foremost. lily jane evans fought tooth and nail to be accepted within hogwarts, to be loved and, most of all, to be respected. and it didn’t take long for this to come true. lily was bright and cheery and had all the boisterous enthusiasm of her housemates, and for that reason she finally found friends outside of severus.
slowly, these friends became her best. they surpassed that of her sister, that of severus, and became her main priority. severus was not forgotten, of course, though perhaps he liked to act like he was. lily tried to keep their friendship alight for the first few years, but it was far too clear in this context that lily evans and severus snape were from two different worlds - they didn’t fit. they drifted and drifted until fifth year came - and everything came crashing down.
hearing severus call her a mudblood was not just heartbreaking, it was blood boiling. lily thought that she could trust this boy, this friend who had been there for her since she was eight, but that clearly wasn’t the case. he was done with her, and she was more than done with him.
after this incident, lily became a lot less trusting of people’s intentions. there was a tension bubbling in this exciting and mystical world she was now a part of and some people were always going to be on the wrong side - and she might not even know it. and so she was cautious, she chose her friends carefully, she learned how to let go. things were only going to get tougher.
proving herself tough and intelligent and a true leader at hogwarts, lily has been awarded the title of head girl in her last year, a role she takes very seriously despite some of her misdemeanours in previous years (punching someone for calling you a mudblood shouldn’t give you detention, anyway). she pushes herself hard in her final year, some would say to the brink, but she has a purpose now - the tensions are boiling over and she is about to be thrust into the real world, where life is no longer so protected...
MISCELLANEOUS
lily has a very black and white way of looking at the world. to her, there is good and there is bad, and you choose which one you are. a good example of this is what happened with severus - for the whole time she’d known him, lily had thought severus to be a good person, no matter his house or his limited supply of friends. he might’ve been odd but he was good, but the moment he called her a mudblood, something in her switched, and severus was bad. she went from trying to talk to him every day to never talking to him again, from viewing him as her best friend even in the toughest of situations to her worst enemy. lily feels everything very strongly (love, hate, anger etc.) and this only feeds this somewhat toxic way of thinking. basically - don’t cross lily. she will write you off in a second.
the only exception to this rule is petunia dursley - push and push and push enough and lily understands that petunia is not wholly good, but she cannot bring herself to say her sister is wholly bad either. lily wasn’t invited to her sisters wedding, she hasn’t even so much as met vernon yet because petunia refuses to see her, and yet still lily would drop everything if it meant she could spend the day with her sister. it’s very complicated. yikes!
another note: lily starts to move away from this type of thinking when she gets closer to james and realises that maybe her impressions of people are wrong but... we have to wait and see that one out, don’t we!
lily loves baking. no, she is not good at it.
lily taught herself how to cast a patronus last year, but she tends to keep this information to herself. she knows she is strong and talented, but she doesn’t feel the need to show it off.

( ciswoman | she/her | madelaine petsch ) — isn’t that LILY EVANS? yeah that is them, sitting there at the GRYFFINDOR table with those other SIXTH years. when sybill looks into that crystal ball of hers, she sees he sweet smell of rain after a storm, heart shaped cookies burning in an oven, promising forever only to be met with the end of the world, initials carved into trees that you wish would burn, smudged eyeliner, stacks and stacks of unread books. anyway i’ve heard they’re pretty DYNAMIC, HEADSTRONG, and DOMINEERING. apparently they’re A MEMBER FOR THE LIGHT and MUGGLEBORN but i’m sure that’s not related.

when minerva mcgonagall knocked on the evans’ door to explain to the family that magic really was real, lily couldn’t really say she was surprised. after all, sev had told her this day would come. she was over and done with the surprise and confusion and was now able to be wholly and completely ecstatic for her start at school.

now in her sixth year, some like to say that lily’s loud-mouth activism for muggleborns and half-bloods is a way to get back at severus - but that’s not ever even crossed her mind. when lily punches a slytherin for calling her a mudblood, or screams at a purist for spitting on a younger student, it is not severus she is thinking of. it is all those months she spent by herself, feeling ostracised by the community she was supposed to belong to, only to realise she was just as strong, if not stronger than anyone else. lily is proudly on the side of the resistance because she knows what it’s like to be hated for your blood - and she won’t stop until every purist scum is wiped off the face of the earth.

I love Donna and Jackie, but it irks me how sometimes they call women ‘sluts’ ‘skanks’ and ‘whores’. I feel like since it was the ‘70s, they grew up with a more outdated view on sexuality.

bubble bubble toil and trouble / i heard rumors that [ lily evans ] is part of [ the order ] ! [ she ] is/are [ a cis woman ] and [ twenty ] ! they are often mistaken for [ ludovica martino ] and known to be [ assertive and overemotional ] ! i wonder if they’ll survive the war.
LINKS: pinboard, stats page CHARACTER PARALLELS: lois lane ( dc ), jane sloan ( the bold type ), katarina stratford ( 10 things i hate about you ), leslie knope ( parks and rec ), donna pinciotti ( that 70s show ), sam ( the perks of being a wallflower ), trish walker ( jessica jones ).
HISTORY
lily is born late january, 1960, as the second child to jonathan and miranda evans, a pair of muggles who have found the perfect balance between standing out and being ordinary. she grows up running after ( and sometimes in front of ) her sister, petunia, her best friend for most of her youth. her father works as a bank teller and – like many – hates his job. her mother is a stay at home mum, who mostly spends her free time tending to the family’s garden — their pride and joy.
lily has many memories of that garden. plucking flowers for her teachers, playing hide and seek, digging through the dirt with her tiny fingers, having barbecue’s and picknicks, laughing at her father’s deep hum of a voice as he complains about customers, crying in her mother’s arms when she scuffed her knees.
so life was ordinary and happy and simple. sure, lily was able to make flowers grow with a touch of her fingers if she concentrated deeply and caused small explosions when she raged ( which was often — lily was an energetic child, but an explosive one, too ). they explained it away with laughter, and kept on living. and then there was severus, whom she met when she was nine, who explained it all.
lily was a witch, and she loved it. she didn’t quite understand it, but she loved it. her parents seemed enthusiastic enough, too, even if they didn’t start believing it until a witch showed up on their doorstep. severus was a new friend, someone who’d help her brave this new world. and petunia … petunia was withering away from her life, slowly taking steps back and back until things seemed beyond repair.
going to hogwarts was confusing, at first. when she stepped on that train, something between her and petunia was changed forever, and lily shed a few tears before she met up with severus. once arrived, she was sorted in gryffindor in a matter of seconds. honestly, i don’t know what to say about hogwarts what wasn’t stated in canon — lily was a great student?? loved learning, had natural skills, was charming, etc. she wasn’t perfect, of course — she was prone to starting debates in class, to going on tangents, cursed quickly and easily and very … creatively
what i’m trying to say is she definitely wasn’t a goody two shoes?? yes, she cared about her education, but no, she was no stickler to the rules. lily was and is a firecracker, someone with fire, and there were plenty of times when she chose to disregard rules, or to go against what was asked for her. not out of spite or just because, always for a good reason, but still. also got into plenty of fights, mostly verbal, mostly with purists, but also with plenty of other people.
lily excelled in charms and potions, specifically. was a big fan of herbology as well, and transfiguration merely bc of mcgonagall.
and then, things seemed to shift. severus called her a mudblood. he was the only person who’d been part of her life before and during hogwarts, and now she couldn’t look at him any more without feeling nauseous. tensions were rising all around her, too. lily started wearing her blood status as a badge of pride even more than before. she became unforgiving and angry and determined to see change. she worked hard in her classes and worked hard on her friendships and tried not to combust with her rage.
and she somehow fell for james potter too, what a fucking tool. both of them. ugh. such a sappy story!!! but yes. they became a thing, and i stan.
lily graduated and had no clue where to go, until it dawned on her — her voice, her anger, her need to find truth: she could use that all. screw having a particularly magical job; lily applied at up and coming news site and magazine lumos and started interning there the summer after graduation. lily as a journalist is very important to me. her whole need for truth is in all honesty the most important thing about her so excuse me as i am about to go on a RANT.
i mean, lily herself is honest. brutally so. she can’t lie, either, and barely ever sees cause to. it’s partly just nature, but also a bit of nurture, i think. her sister, for example, so caught up in her lies and her wish for perfection seems altogether untrue because of it. severus, who hid true thoughts from her. her father, who never told his customers how annoyed he truly was. so many blood purists in the world, keeping their views carefully quiet. this war is based on lies. the world wizards live in is based on lies, and lily hates it. she seeks truth, always has, always will. it’s part curiosity, part anger.
her job as a journalist allows her to seek truth. it also allows her to cover the war, to talk about it, to hold interviews and seek out sources, to think of good questions, to be critical and empathetic and clever. all things lily likes and loves and wants to do.
lily also joined the order. i mean, what other option was there to fight? her family, her friends, she herself — everyone was in danger because of this damn war. there was no bone in her body that thought about sitting still, and when she was approached about the order, she didn’t think twice before saying yes. there is no way that lily ever accept the reality these death eaters want. no way. she’ll die before she sees that happen.
where her and james are at is still something i’m discussing with liz, but they’re def happily in love! lily is about to get pregnant too and she’s going to freak
CURRENTLY & PERSONALITY
okay so i know i’ve mentioned lily’s anger a lot, and i think that’s an important thing to talk about? lily is a very feeling person. she’s compassionate and kind and empathetic. she cares about others, and does so easily. she does so deeply. and she feels deeply too, always has. she cries easily, laughs easily, rages easily. combine those two things and the fact that there’s a war going on that’s fueled by such sickening bigotry … well, of course she’s fucking angry. her anger comes from her kindness, it comes from her compassion and her warmth. her motivation isn’t her anger, per se — it’s her wish to see the world different, to see it be good, but her anger is a huge drive.
lily loves muggle shit so much. she came into the lumos office and dropped a whole lot of muggle office supplies on her desk and said: “if i cant work on paper then im walking” and they were like … dude its ok lol wtf. she’s kind of very extra abt it but in this current economy she’s so set on being PROUD of being a muggleborn and she just loves muggle stuff too — i mean, wizarding fashion is Nothing compared to mom jeans and plaid shirts??? she loves muggle music too, especially indiepop and classic rock and just everything by Cool Ladies.
was raised catholic and still practices it but in a v liberal and modern way because she has seen a lot that with the more traditional views. so yeah, her thoughts on religion and especially the way it’s practised have shifted a lot. she still prays, goes to church every now and then ( but definitely not ever sunday ) and sticks with it, even if it’s hard to cling to faith when the world looks the way it does.
cannot cook to save her life, help her
a big fan of white wine and rose, lolol. will also drink loads of beer if the occasion calls for it. a fun drunk, but also a mama bird when drunk, holding back your hair and drying your tears.
honestly lily is slightly dramatic, full of rage and a downright good person. such a good friend, holy shit. so blunt. so extra. so loving. dances and fights through life. laughs wildly and loudly. gives great hugs. supports blanket forts, always. loves loves loves.

Actress Tanya Roberts is still alive, according to her publicist
Pingel said he was notified Sunday evening by Roberts’ partner, Lance O’Brien, that Roberts had died.
In a phone call Monday evening, O’Brien told CNN he was distraught after saying goodbye to Roberts at her bedside and left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center believing it would be the last time he saw her.
On Monday morning, O’Brien was notified by the hospital that Roberts is still alive, according to Pingel and O’Brien. They said it was a coincidence that O’Brien was doing an interview with Inside Edition when the hospital called.
“I’m so happy,” O’Brien told Inside Edition when he got the call.
Roberts was hospitalized in Los Angeles on December 24, after she collapsed at her California home following a walk with her dogs. She remains in critical condition, according to Pingel and O’Brien.
Roberts’ career in television and film spans more than 30 years.
She played geologist Stacey Sutton in ‘A View to a Kill,’ opposite Roger Moore and appeared in “That 70s Show” as Donna Pinciotti’s mother.
