You Change Your Aesthetic Constantly : Stray Kids Reactions
You Change Your Aesthetic Constantly: Stray Kids Reactions
.
Chan:
As someone who's wardrobe is literally all black… he can not relate, lol. However, he doesn't mind it. It's a nice change to his constant look. However, you can kiss matching couples outfits goodbye. Though he's not so secretly very into the idea. 10/10 probably tries to match the 'vibe' out of your outfits through accessories… though it's not necessarily obvious. You probably can't even tell but he knows and it makes him happy to know it. Makes him giddy as fuck to know that you wore all silver jewelry today with black ripped jeans and combat boots and so did he. Probably snaps a picture of ya'll's boots together or your hands laced together with all the silver rings glittering in the light.
Minho:
Insists that you get the cats matching outfits. No but like seriously. You post your outfit of the day and he just starts posting #ootds of the cats and tagging you. He didn't intend for it to become such a thing but suddenly all the Stays are posting pictures of their pets and tagging you both. Next thing you know the hashtag #ynthestayfashionmom/dad/parent is trending and you're giving him the stink eye. He has the gall to look innocent. But you continue to post your styles, he continues to post the cats and all the Stays continue to dress their pets.
Suddenly, you become a mother to millions. Sigh. However, you get revenge because eventually… you force him to join you because… "It's a fucking family event, babe. And you started it. So suck it up and put on the duck shirt." He pulls a face but actually that picture with him, you and the cats in a duck themed outfit is literally his phone background.
Changbin:
Well as a self proclaimed lover of dark things… Idk if he's going to be matching you if you decide to go sweet kawaii. However, he's definitely down to match on occasion. He probably not likely to match you super often. However, he probably would enjoy the process of watching you lay out your outfits for the week and hearing your concepts for each of them. Changbin strikes me as a very open person when he loves someone. So I feel as if he'd very much enjoy lounging on the bed watching as you pick things out. He'd offer his opinion if you asked but mostly he just enjoys hanging out and watching you express your creativity. It's hard to bare your creative passions in front of someone. It's vulnerable. So he appreciates that not only do you not mind him being there but also value his opinion enough to include him. He likes the time and inclusion. It's more about the time and the meaning but he looks forward to the lazy Sunday afternoons where you pull out the clothing rack and start crafting each outfit.
Hyunjin:
100% steals your outfit ideas. Not even a joke. Specifically waits until you get dressed and then will literally copy it as close as he can get within his own wardrobe. You didn't want a twin? Too bad. Has literally went into your wardrobe and online shopped the exact items. The package arrived and he's pulling out the exact same shit in your close in his size. And you just mean mug him. "Outfit stealer." you accuse. "I'm lazy and you're stylish." he'd defend with a shrug. "Don't try to flatter me!" "That wasn't flattery. That was factual information. If I was going to flatter you I would've said that those pants make your ass look good enough to eat. Matter of fact, lemme just-" "Hyunjin!"
Han:
Well, truthfully he probably finds it refreshing because in a way he gets it. His hyperfocus has him into something like crazy for a while and then he's done. So probably vibes with you on this. He gets it. Definitely expect him to take spontaneous burst of matching with you for like a week straight and then wearing the complete opposite for a like a month until one day he decides he wants to pick your outfits out for you like two weeks, lol.
Felix:
Honestly? If you're happy, he's happy. Let's just call it what it is. This little sunshine just wants you to do what brings you joy. If you like dressing goth one day, cottagecore the next and naturecore after that, cool! He thinks it's great! He'll even help and make outfits with you. Bonus, I could see him LOVING matching with you if you're ok with that. Like that's epic couple goals and he'd likely to do anything to further that. Precious. He will plan them out with you. He will get a calendar. He will make posts. He is all in.
Seungmin:
Definitely going to tease you for it. "Jagiya, can't you make up your mind?" "Are you going to settle on one style this time?" It's all in good fun of course. He's only teasing. And he makes it a point to let you know how lovely you look each time. But he's definitely gonna tease you a little about it.
Jeongin:
10/10 thinks it's adorable.
10/10 kinda wants to join you.
10/10 too nervous and anti social to actually do it.
Lucky for him, you just kinda do it for him.
And because you know him, you take the blame when his hyungs tease him.
"It was my idea. I just wanted some of those cute couple photos, you know."
And when they inevitably tease him for the couple shit it's an instant, "Well, at least he has a partner."
That little mother fucker's chest puffed out so big that you thought he'd explode. Suddenly, he'd all in because he realized he can rub this in their single faces.

After the juicy "Celebrimbor not talking to any of his family" take, you've hit us with another equally juicy (but probably controversial lol) take of Russingon which is something I've been riding for a while now, @spiritofwhitefire spoke nothing but facts. Still, on a serious note (no offense, I really love that ship so much) the constant characterization of Fingon as blindy forgiving, and always siding with Maedhros (or like being desperate to be with him) was probably what made me sour a bit on Russingon. Fingon has other personalities and motivations besides being Maedhros' love interest or being his hype man but seriously, he's Fingolfin's son, and seeing how close and loyal Fingon was to Fingolfin, I am sure, he would be genuinely pissed at Maedhros. I can't imagine him instantly forgiving Mae or something, and even if he did, does his forgiveness mean something to Mae because, at the end of the day, Maedhros is still doggedly loyal to Feanor. Anyway, this is just me being fixated on your tags, "not wanting maedhros to die a miserable death at morgoth's hands doesn't necessarily equate to total instant and complete forgiveness, "honestly a huge fan of their friendship never fully recovering..." please tell me more. I love your headcanons.
I don't mean to be in opposition to so many popular fandom takes 😅I'm usually not this bad about that...
Sure, maybe Fingon is a saint who harbors no resentment...but I'm not particularly interested in that take. #1, Fingon is presumably made a kinslayer in Alqualonde for the sake of the Feanorians, whom he believed were under unjust assault, but who were, in fact, the aggressors. #2, Although Maedhros does not partake in the burning of the ships at Losgar (something it's implied Fingon learns eventually), neither did he make any effort to stop it, and that decision of the Feanorians' helped condemn the rest of the Noldor host to the Helcaraxe, where, among other things, Fingon's sister-in-law dies. I would say he certainly has grounds to be angry with Maedhros and furthermore, to distrust him going forward.
Not to say these specific things are entirely or even primarily Maedhros' fault...but I think it would be very hard not to be angry with a cousin/close friend who had helped to put you in these positions, particularly depending on how Maedhros handles the situation after their reunion (i.e. whether he apologizes or doubles down or tries to pretend nothing is wrong).
This definitely relates to my general feelings on Maedhros becoming the center of everything in this fandom but yes, the way Fingon orbits around him in so much fanon gets quite old. I'll be honest and say I don't ship Russingon even a tiny bit so it's doubly grating to see Fingon reduced to either Maedhros' hype man (if alive) or his angst-generator (if dead) and have that romance be cast as so core to everything Fingon (or Maedhros!) does. And I do think there can be plenty of crunchy drama even without the romance aspect (Anyone who's had a friendship go sour can probably attest to this).
But in terms of actual character motivation and reactions--I think it's just a lot more interesting if there are actual consequences to Maedhros' actions in terms of a relationship that was really important to him, rather than Fingon just completely forgiving Maedhros everything always so that there's no friction in the relationship.
For one, as I talked about here, their relationship already had problems before the rebellion of the Noldor. How bad things got between them in Tirion is really up to our interpretation, but it is very apparent things were not kosher between them even before Losgar happened, and before Alqualonde. I can't imagine that doesn't color later events between them.
For another, Fingon's motivations in seeking Maedhros out in Thangorodorim were political. They were also personal, but the first motivation mentioned in his decision to seek Maedhros as Melkor's prisoner is to reunite the Noldor. And as I mentioned in those tags, just because he didn't want Maedhros to die a miserable death or experience indefinite torment at Melkor's hands doesn't necessarily mean he forgave him, or even still considered him a friend. MOST of us would not want to see someone we know suffer Maedhros' fate, regardless of what they had done to us.
"Then Fingon the valiant, son of Fingolfin, resolved to heal the feud that divided the Noldor, before their Enemy should be ready for war...Fingon had been close in friendship with Maedhros...Therefore he dared a deed which is justly renowned among the feats of the princes of the Noldor." ("Of the Return of the Noldor")
If nothing else, I imagine their relationship was always complicated after this. To your point above, Maedhros is deeply committed to fulfilling the oath of his father, and as the Nolofinweans and Arafinweans were there when the Feanorians swore to deal death on anyone handling a Silmaril, they have to be aware of at least the possibility that that may cause trouble someday (I'm sure they did not anticipate the scale or severity).
So Fingolfin, Fingon's father, is king (thanks to Maedhros)...but Maedhros is loyal to his oath above all else. And Maedhros still holds considerable sway over the Feanorians (I would venture to say it's a common theory if not outright knowledge that, should push come to shove, the Feanorians will obey Maedhros, not Fingolfin). How does Fingon feel about that?
To me, these things, in addition to Maedhros' earlier behavior (being part of the initial kinslaying at Alqualonde, not trying to stop the burning of the swan ships) mean that Fingon can never fully trust Maedhros again. There will always be at least a sliver of doubt and mistrust there, wondering at Maedhros' ulterior motives, at his end-game plans. And I don't think Maedhros is very good at making this not the case because he is always trying to play 5-D chess, and he's not always sneaky about it.
That bit above about how the Feanorians are loyal to Maedhros over Fingolfin? I imagine that goes doubly when Fingon becomes high king. Whatever respect the sons of Feanor might have had for Fingolfin as their elder they almost certainly do not have for their young cousin. And I do love takes where Maedhros (successfully or unsuccessfully) sees Fingon as far more malleable than Fingolfin and is trying to manipulate him from behind the scenes. (Particularly if this interacts with any insecurities Fingon may have about his abilities as king--to think that even Maedhros sees him as a weak ruler/weaker than his father!)
I don't mean to suggest they were never close again after the rebellion (although you could perhaps make the case), but that there was never the same level of trust, ease, and companionship in that friendship that there had been before. Forever after, there was always political calculus involved, because of the kingship, because of the oath, because of Maedhros' refusal to disavow the actions of his family (Admittedly--we don't know what position he took on Alqualonde or Losgar afterwards; it's never stated or even implied, iirc. However, based on his response to Celegorm and Curufin's attempted coup against Finrod [nothing] and the attempted assault of Luthien [nothing] and attempted murder of Beren [nothing], I will extrapolate the headcanon that he was not keen to admit to either of the earlier instances as being a mistake.)
Anyway to me it's sooo tasty if they stayed (sort of) friends and yet there was this unspoken mistrust that was always there after that, perhaps alongside a kind of golden nostalgia for the "old days" of their friendship.
(Also juicy drama to me if Fingon becomes a lot closer with Finrod than he had been in Aman due to Helcaraxe trauma/responsibility bonding and Maedhros has to grind his teeth and live with the fact that Fingon trusts Finrod more than he trusts Maedhros now. And lots of love for fans who also explore Fingon's canonical friendship with Aegnor and Angrod! )
There's also the fact that Fingon bites the dust before the worst of Maedhros' actions. I simply cannot see Fingon justifying the assault on Doriath, or Sirion, or the kidnapping of Elrond and Elros, or the assault on Eonwe's Elven guard. Absolutely, there is grief in seeing someone you loved and valued become someone you cannot support, but I can never buy into post-Mandos takes where Fingon just handwaves everything Maedhros did after Fingon's death.
So yes, there it is. Maedhros and Fingon's political drama charged friendship fallout.

That's fair, if it makes you feel better I experienced the opposite in a way (I was pretty much directly told I'd have to quit my job, which if I think about it is obvious, but I'm still so sad- I love my job and the people. Part of me is like "it's okay, I can quit my job, go to school, ask for my job back <3" as though It makes any sense to go back to my CASHIER job after completing four years of nursing school)
And that's completely understandable, everything is one day at a time. I'm sure the future will be better!!
I would love for that to be something I'm capable of but instead I'm way too?? Bad at consuming media. Like TWO of my friends LOVE sandman so I was like "okay I'll watch it for you guys" put it on and didn't pay attention to a single second.
I honestly judge that one less I tried so hard to watch Titans so go off. I know she appears in some Wonderwoman comics because I opened volume 8 and she was PISSED about something I missed because I only had volumes 1,2 and 8. But it was definitely largely important. (It should've been the new 52 run) hopefully you like the one you have open!!
I use it a lot at work to make my hands feel right again, that's it. But you're right!! It's all personal and that's what matters.
i have a tag on the first book so I know when it's available and then I'll probably try it. I'm glad you've been enjoying it! And that makes sense I get that (personally if I DO start reading it I'll probably google all the vibes because I hate suspense- it's why I got yelled at the last time I read a book my friend recommended. Apparently I "spoiled the end of Gideon" and "found out the whole thing harrows trying to figure out in Harrow" and I was like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but now no surprises)
I went to the library yesterday!! I had to go to work to get something so I just kept running errands so I went to the library and I asked for an online library card. I spent like all night after that just *looking* at my options now. I picked a sad book (my favorite kind) that I need to remember to read and tagged a bunch for later (including, like I said, the Raven Boys- audiobook I think)
i got to issue 11!! I know that's not a huge jump but I decided I was gonna read a couple and then I did. (because your site is so linear, and like just automatically goes to the next issue, it's a lot harder to stop lmao)
Did you read the annual with Harley and Lobo? On my old old site that was counted as something else but not yours so I imagine you did?
and tbch I haven't read ground zero yet, I own it but I just haven't cracked it open. That all sounds great though.
His name IS Jake. HOWEVER he got the nickname Music Man because he just started playing music out of his pocket because the radio wasn't good enough so I started calling him "music Man" and then I heard his co worker call him Jake so boom Music Man Jake. But if it helps I have to physically restrain myself from instead calling him music man *Kyle* for some reason. (I believe it's because of the existence of Theatre Gay Kyle and Crackhead Kyle already in my life)
I know of that too but I also don't remember where it's from. And she IS in fact significantly better than all of them. Everyone knows boys drool girls rule. She can fuck'em all up and I love her for that.
I think, in all honesty? I don't know how much you'll *like* year zero (Dinah's in it but not largely, Diana Might have a larger role? But iirc it's not really the marks you're trying to hit) HOWEVER that being said, it's a very short run so I'd say go for it. I'd you don't like it and it's hard to get through just stop.
Have a good day <3
boy howdy my life has been busy, apologies for my delay in response.
as it turns out, and now i can say it bc before i was paranoid somehow someone would find my blog and relate it to my job and learn the news this way, i am losing my job in the sense that my place of work will be closing end of january. i’m gonna miss my coworkers most of all and a good amount of the dogs as well but i’m otherwise handling this news pretty well i think? idk like i’ve said i’ve been so burnt out and i thankfully have the fallback of being able to go back to living with my parents while i recalibrate. i have a feeling i will be sadder the closer it gets to closing time but for now i’m putting emotions about it on a shelf for later.
oh that’s totally fair. i definitely don’t consume every media friends like/recommend bc i don’t have the time and tbh not everything interests me but if the interests vaguely line up i do try. or at least im trying to try. and sometimes trying to try things that don’t necessarily sound particularly interesting but sound like they could be surface level fun and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying something at surface level. idk. its hard to commit to starting new things to be invested in. there’s just not enough time in the world.
(personally if i ever end up in a time loop i will be fucking around and consuming as much media as possible before looking for a resolution.)
i think i honestly stand by the fact that titans has some really good moments. but it just also has some really bad moments. i wouldn’t say it’s balanced necessarily but god the good stuff is so good to me and i am willing to suffer through the bad. (and to some degree. some of the Bad honestly became comedic to me-though bald connor will never be one of those that shit was god awful. boy needs his hair, i’ll say it.)
congrats on going to the library!!! huge step and i love that for you!! you are SO valid re googling the vibes. i didn’t feel like there was a whole lot of suspense in the first book personally but i also was not surprised by two of the “dramatic reveals” but i may have also been potentially over analytic of the first book so i’m not sure i’m the best judge of character.
ALSO!!!! the locked tomb!!! love that series!! they make for great audiobooks though a little confusing and confusing stuff is harder in audiobook format bc i can’t easily reread bits until my brain has digested them. but it’s so much easier for me to get through an audiobook because i can do it while doing other stuff.(i feel like i’ve already talked about audiobooks so i’m not gonna continue on the ramble that’s forming in my head and move on instead.)
i try to make it my philosophy that any progress no matter how small is still progress so congrats on making it to issue 11. i definitely agree that it’s a little too easy to just keep going thru the issues on that site bc i’ve definitely been like “i’ll read a few” and then binge a whole lot. ah well.
i did read that annual! all the annuals were put at the start of each year so i read them before each year.
ground zero is definitely fun if you can put aside the joker of it all! would recommend!
i have not done any more reading of the injustice verse because again. life been busy. but i do think i’m gonna give year zero a try before starting on injustice2 just because it is so short. i keep telling myself i should start on it and then i am so easily distracted and lately i’ve been on a sudoku kick. my sister also shared this house flipping game with me and it’s fun but very frustrating bc it doesn’t run well on my computer so i don’t know how long i’ll keep up with that game.
ahjsjd that’s valid. i take it he was playing it out of his phone in his pocket and not a very small but very cool tiny instrument in his pocket anksdjs
life has been hectic but i’m hanging in there and doing relatively well right now. hope you are also hanging in there and doing relatively well!!

Believe it or not but the statements "Janus is a manipulative person who has deeply hurt Roman and the others to get what he wants and needs to be held accountable for his behavior in future Sanders Sides episodes" and "Janus wants what's best for Thomas and is an advocate for self care" are both very true statements that can coexist.
#Was scrolling through the criticism tags for the three characters that seem to get it the most on my dash: Logan Remus and Janus#And. hi sarah!! please can you help me?? 🙏 I know it's a delicate question so if you'd rather not answer just ignore this. I thought I should try as people tag you in a lot of things so you may have dealt with it before (or I'm wrong) but anyway: let's say hypothetically. someone tags you on their edit but it comes from a blog you don't sympathise with or the edit involves something you don't personally agree with. like an invasion of privacy, shipping real people, etc. it's not that it's a bad edit or anything, it just rises an eyebrow because you don't share that pov so you don't want it in your blog. makes sense? what would you do then... reblog it anyway? only like it or saying something in the notes? would you contact the person privately and let them know why you haven't reblogged it? or simply pretend you didn't see it and move on?... the thing is my tag isn't as filled as yours and I'm reblogging the rest of edits so I can't do that without it being obvious. whatever I end up doing I'm gonna feel bad ig 😓 also sorry for being on anon, I don't want that blog or anyone to feel it's about them. but thank you so much even if you just read this! 💕
oh i definitely understand and have dealt with this for sure! if i get tagged in something i don't personally align with i just don't reblog it. at then end of the day one reblog won't stand out to them as much as you think it will. you know that saying 'people arent paying as much attention to you as you think they are'? it's kinda like that. it probably won't stand out to them as much as your anxiety is saying it will.
it's important to remember that at the end of the day it's your blog. i completely understand the struggle of wanting to support editors and wanting to reblog as many things as possible, but also not wanting certain things on your blog and not supporting some ideas. your blog is essectially a display of things you like and want to be vocal about, so why would you have somehting that is the opposite of that on your blog?
if you reblog this one thing, other people might see you supporting it and tag you in other related things as well, it might cause an avalanche affect too. i even don't reblog edits of shows i don't watch or celebrities i don't know, because why would i want something on my blog i don't know?
this is just a good exercise of trying to just subtly stand your ground and not compromise your morals in order to make others happy. they tagged you in something, which is amazing and sweet, but it is not a command at which you have to follow. they had the choice of tagging you, but you have the choice to not reblog it. kinda reminds of of someone asking you out and you know you don't like them, but you feel an urge to make them happy because society tells you to be flattered but it would just be a waste of time for the both you if you accepted something you know you dont want.... that kind of thing...

The online fretting at them not discussing anything related to S2 is making me a little sad. Nobody knows what's going to happen next season, but I the creative team 100% knows that the Twitter teens are a minority. A sucky minority, sure, but a minority. If Marvel listened to Twitter stans, Steve and Bucky would be canon and Wanda would have been written out 3 movies ago lol
Under read more bc this got too long, sorry.
Yeah, I'm sorry but the doom and gloom discourse that happened yesterday's so ridiculous. I worked 11 hours yesterday, was exhausted beyond words, still excited for the panel even though I was aware we're likely not getting anything new bc that's how Marvel rolls and then to see people freaking out over something so meaningless was both confusing and annoying.
I thought it was pretty obvious the RTS twitter was posting only a few quick bits and pieces from an overall 1+ hour long panel. And people completely lost their shit over the lack of content and thought that short thread was it, when in fact...there's so much more stuff and we're getting it soon.
People freaked out over Sophia only answering two questions in that thread, but then it was later revealed she was actively engaging with conversation the entire time and she wasn't ignored at all.
People freaked out bc apparently they didn't talk about Sylki and it's all doom now, but then it turned out they actually did talk about the ship lol
So...I truly don't get some ppl sometimes.
The event in itself focused mostly on writing, casting, random bts stuff, y'kno, pretty much the same old thing. I've said it before on Twitter but I'm still waiting for someone to mention He Who Remains/Kang or talk about that character in these new interviews, but it's unlikely to happen until promo for S2 and/or Quantumania starts. They basically haven't mentioned him at all in months. And he and the mere implications of his character and are enormous and huge deal for both Marvel and the show and no one's discussing him in interviews. Does that mean the character is dropped, erased, gone?
Like, it's pretty obvious that there's a clear set of stuff they're allowed to say at these interviews. The fact that they're not even discussing their own characters that much should be a clear sign that there's no deeper meaning to this, other than studio mandates, to keep stuff as vague as possible and focus on other things.
We won't learn new important things about season 2 at these events. We will learn that through casting, extras casting, bts info, potential pap photos and eventually whatever they decide to show us via promo footage.
And yeah, the crew definitely knows twitter is a minority lol. Even Eric called it an echo chamber months ago.
It's amusing that they think Marvel listens to what stans have to say because...nothing could be farther from the truth.
If Marvel listened to stans Stucky and all similar popular fanon ships would be canon. Steve's ending would be different. Tony wouldn't have died. Loki wouldn't have died. Natasha wouldn't have died. Characters would have vastly different arcs.
I remember people disliked Ragnarok bc they changed Loki and Thor's characters too much and they made petitions, hate tagged Taika, argued with fans who loved Ragnarok and thought it was great and what did Marvel do? Instead of catering to the demands of people who wanted Loki and Thor to revert back to their old personalities, they did the exact opposite and made sure Loki and Thor got stuck with that characterization for good, because it worked, the general fans and the public loved it.
Marvel caters sometimes by giving the fans some ripped-straight-from-comics refs or quotes, "avengers assemble" and similar stuff but catering to them on a larger level, one that affects the plot and the project's overall story? lol no

hello on today's post I will be yapping for 10 minutes about voice of th broken
I never exactly paid attention to Broken any more than I paid attention to the other voices but reading this post and these tags made me remember how much I relate to Broken because of how he is in the game
broken to me is the embodiment of that feeling you get when you were confident you were gonna do something but then it all falls apart so horribly that you're left completely shattered over the realisation that you can't do it. broken is the definition of "just give up" to me. to me he is if "why should I not just give up?" was a person and he captures that feeling so, so well. I have not interacted with the fandom so I don't know if they treat him as just a sopping wet baby but if they do then. qhuh. What . he is not a sopping wet baby . just like the rest of voices are kind of a specific feeling if it had a voice and thoughts of it's own, broken is helplessness.
and to elaborate on that, im gonna be looking at eeer.. the tower! since that's the easiest example I can think of where he acts beyond wanting to do nothing because there is no purpose in doing anything
i'm not gonna bother with a full analysis or anything but i just wanna say i absolutely get how he acts during the tower ? take this post still lightheartedly and as fun ranting, but broken, personally, acts exactly like how I do in certain situations. i absolutely get what it's like to try to beat something only to realise you can't do it, and the only way to make yourself feel better is to embrace the fact that who you're trying to beat is better in every way possible, which is why the tower turns out. you know. Like That. broken thinks of the princess as this being so, SO beyond his reach that he'll never be able to beat her, so the only solution is to give in and accept whatever she says as gospel because resisting will just lead to feeling even worse and to failing again
I wouldn't exactly say he's just depression? if it was that I feel like he'd act... I dunno, different? if anything, cold without the apathetic aspect would be depression. broken is more specifically 'giving up'.
I haven't played stp in ages so I can't remember how many interactons stubborn and broken share, but I guess I should also say stubborn and broken are in a way kind of. opposites while not being opposites? they're opposites but at the same time they could probably cause eachother. thinking yourself to be the best there is only to fail Can lead to acting like broken after enough failure so there's probably an interesting dynamic to be had there not only judging them as 'emotions if they could talk' but also as their own characters since in that regard they're literally "giving up" and "pushing through", more or less.
if I had to pick a true opposite to broken maybe I'd say hunted? because giving up, most of the time, also comes with abandoning strive and desire and instinct. and hunted is, well, instinct. hunted is fight or flight, hunted is the feeling that you HAVE to survive no matter what it takes, pure adrenaline. broken is the feeling that there's no point in surviving, and also adrenaline usually leads to at least some sorts of energy and desire. broken is usually low energy iirc and has no strive. So opposites
if anyone disagrees please elaborate on why, I wanna hear opinions also this is all from memory and a bit biased since. projection-ish.
humming. i can't say i mind broken being mischaracterized but i do it's a pity his more interesting traits tend to be left unexplored or scrubbed away entirely
#throwing my thoughts out into the void#i dont tihnk anyone iwll read this but i like writing so urmm

How important is Misha in Jensen's social circle?
Another fan and I were talking about the nuts that J2 had to deal with at Chicon during their main panel. They dispatched the first nut with the Castiel Winchester question hilariously. But the one that came after her, was way more rude to them and even got defensive. She snapped at Jared for not understanding her dumb question. Like, who the fuck are you? The conversation segued as conversations notoriously do, into problematic Misha fans and Misha's part in the troublemaking. The person, that I was talking to, said this:
''Yeah, I wanted to reach thru the screen and throttle that cosplayer. As for Misha, they've all maintained that they're friends, so I'm not going to disbelieve them... but I do agree that he should take a stand with J2 when this shit happens....''
I completely agree on all points. The focal point in this statement, however, has to do with friendship. If they say that they are all friends, then we should respect that. However, there are reason I cannot completely buy that J2 are friends with Misha. I also think the definition of the word ''friend'' should be determined. What does Jensen mean by friend? I am going to use Jensen for this one, because he is the center of hellerminion focus. Plus, I have to admit, it is fun putting together this Jensen-oriented jigsaw puzzle. First, Jensen uses the word ''friend'' a lot. More specifically, he uses the word ''buddy'' a lot. As far as friendships go, I think he is cordial with everyone. If he doesn't like someone, it shows. Case in point, Jessica Alba, although she apologized to him years later [or so the rumor goes]. He is a popular person due to his comely demeanor. He is also informal and not snobbish about how he interacts with people he works with. Like Jared, he doesn't have leading man ego. So he uses words like friend or buddy offhandedly. Does it mean that he has a hundred friends? No, I don't think that is emotionally sustainable. People cant psychologically branch out that much.
Every person has four social groups. Lets see which social group Misha fits into.
Primary
A primary group is a small group where people have an emotional attachment to others. They want to spend time together. They may have shared personal culture, for example doing things a particular way that is comfortable only to them, even though others don't ''get it''. The most telling thing about this group, is that they spend time with each other, because they want to, not because they have to. So, your bitchy aunt from Alabama, whom you despise, probably wont be in this group.
Jensen's close relatives and children would fall into this category. I would assume that Jared most likely fits into this category, because he and Jensen are neighbors and co-workers even though nobody forced them. J2 have a way of sitting during cons. They end every main panel with a fist bump. They both grow beards during hiatus. These are habits they developed over years. There may be others that I am not aware of. Does Misha fit into this group? No, Jensen doesn't have any social interaction with Misha unless work is involved. Of course, someone will mention the chilli eating debacle at a Chicago restaurant. Yes, that was during one of the chicon of past years. They didn't have a social engagement. They just looked for a place to eat tacos, and Misha tagged along. Of course, Jenmisheel fans will deny that instead of using logic.
In-group
In-groups are groups where an individual feels that they belong because of shared principles or interests. These are presumably the guys you like to hang out with because they ''get'' you. You don't have to spend time with them. You like to, so you make time. And you don't fall apart when these friends move away, because you don't have any emotional attachment to them like you do with the primary group.
For Jensen, this is a small collection of people that he has something in common with. Jason Manns, Christian Kane and Steve Carlson are the ones that we are aware of. They know each other since they were too young to drink beer [as one of them had tweeted out]. They have a clique. Although most of their time is occupied by ''adulting'', they make time for each other. Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum don't fall into this category. Jensen usually bumps into these two on the red carpet. He doesn't make time for them. Does it mean that he hates them? No, he refers to them as his ''buddies''. But if he doesn't see them for a few months, he is not going to flip out. They fit into another category.
Does Misha fit into this category? No, Jensen and Misha don't have anything in common other than Supernatural, and even then Misha is barely working while Jensen works all the time. Jensen likes sports, music and the cinematic craft of story-telling. Misha likes woodwork and confessed to not having any knack or desire for acting. So no, Misha is not part of Jensen's in-group. There would be nothing keeping that friendship going. Jared might fit into this category. Now that SPN is ending, we will see if Jensen and Jared spend time with each other regularly or only during holidays, once a year. Will Jared become one more of Jensen's buddies that he has to take out time to see?
Secondary
This group comes together for a specific purpose or goal. Once they complete their tasks, the group dissipates. The purpose or goal might include charitable causes and work-related activities. In other words, during normal circumstances, these people wont seek each other's company. They need each other for specific reasons. Presumably, this is a big group. The people in this group will generally ''get along'' because that task is what they have in common and they respect each other's efforts regarding said task. Or they may just put up with each other.
Every single person Jensen works with, from his manager, to the cast and crew of SPN, to the alumni that they work with during conventions, all fall into this category. If it were not for work, these people would never hang out with each other, let alone Jensen. Jensen is cordial with them. He doesn't burn bridges with previous co-workers, so Tom and Mike [his Smallville co-stars] will fit into this category. That is why he refers to these friendships as life long. Unless, they truly piss him off, he has no reason to sever ties with them. After all, he might have to work with them in the future.
These are the people Jensen may offhandedly call his buddies. Misha is in this category. That is why Jensen and Jared refer to him as a friend. He is not an enemy. J2's ignorance and overall gullibility might have something to do that. They have quite a few leeches in their circle. But he is not someone they miss or seek out. He is a work buddy. Also, you have to factor in J2's professionalism. If they get abrasive with a co-star, the workplace environment [where they spend most of their time] will become toxic and it will be their fault.
Out-group
These are people you don't want to be anywhere near. Essentially, it is the opposite of an in-group. The day Jensen and Jared learn about Misha, he will be in this group. Although, the way our resident savages have been shading Misha recently makes me wonder if they have already become wiser and put the bulgy eyed overlord into this category. I wont be surprised if this is the truth.

I will never get over the "i don't believe in love at first sight / but godamn" gifset for jyn/cassian, it's perfect. also, your tags on the partisan jyn rec have me imagining a persuasion au, this time with cassian as anne and jyn as wentworth (draven as lady russell, I guess??) I love Persuasion AUs and that fic is so good :)
Heeeh, I love it!
I hadn’t really thought of the details of an alternate AU, beyond thinking that captaincy and gender aside, Wentworth (careless, impulsive, generous, spirited) is the most like Jyn, and Anne (obedient, withdrawn, intense, faithful) the most like Cassian. But I think it could work.
(Completely scattered thoughts on the ‘how,’ but I definitely think it would be fun and interesting!)
Draven is definitely the obvious Lady Russell candidate (he could even be ambiguously positive in the way Ly R is, which would be an interesting take on him). Mon Mothma would be very interesting, too—I think she’s more of a Lady Russell-type personality (which would leave Draven as Sir Walter, omfg). And I think it would allow for some exploration of what’s the most interesting part of Persuasion for me.
The thing is, Persuasion never really answers the question of whether Anne was morally wrong or right to break off her relationship with Wentworth under Lady Russell’s influence. It feels wrong. It turned out badly. But morality is not determined by consequences alone, and here, there’s a complex system of obligations and risks at play. Anne felt an obligation to listen to Lady Russell’s advice—not to obey unthinkingly, but to strongly factor it into her decision-making process, given her own youth, Lady Russell’s role as her surrogate mother, and her deep respect for her.
And Lady Russell was right in believing there were real risks to Anne marrying Wentworth so young, risks to any children they might have, etc. His ‘I don’t need to save anything, I’ve always been lucky, I’ll always be lucky’ shtick did him zero favours—Mr Price probably thought so, too, and the fact that Wentworth’s luck did hold is … well, lucky. “I’m going to go fight Napoleon and make a bunch of money, everything’s going to be fine” is not a compelling argument!
On top of that, the winning point in Lady Russell’s argument—the thing that finally swayed Anne—was that the marriage would be bad for Wentworth. A young, delicate wife with no dowry and a collection of snobbish, expensive, totally douchey relatives would be a genuine disadvantage to a young sailor with no connections and no money. And that is also, in fact, perfectly reasonable.
So it’s not simply a snobbish woman dissuading a weak-willed girl who then develops a stronger sense of self through suffering and maturity. Snobbery absolutely played a part in Lady Russell’s motives—all of this would have been much less pressing if Wentworth were someone more like Colonel Fitzwilliam, who would double as a Worthy Alliance and bring powerful, wealthy relations into the picture. Anne may very well have been less swayed by Lady Russell’s arguments if she hadn’t faced uniform opposition from her family, hadn’t been so young and uncertain. But nevertheless, those arguments were largely reasonable, and in the end, Anne’s view is that she wishes she hadn’t taken Lady Russell’s advice, that she would never give the same advice, but that morally she was right to take it.
I mean, there’s a lot going on there, ethically, and the book doesn’t offer clear conclusions. (UNCLEAR ETHICAL DILEMMAS
ANYWAY, MULTIPLE PARAGRAPHS LATER, that’s not something I often see confronted, even in full-on adaptations. (Particularly, one might say. >_>) And I think it would be interesting to play with it—something where Draven/Mothma/whomever have entirely valid reasons (but also dodgy ones) for their interference, and where Cassian has a real obligation to consider their opinions, and where the killing blow (as it were) would be that he is bad for Jyn (only too easy to believe he’d find convincing!).
It’s even … like. I can definitely see Draven being profoundly unenthusiastic about his 23-y-o prodigy spy suddenly getting entangled with a 19-y-o Partisan who is also the daughter of an Imperial collaborator. But I think it’s very possible that the likes of Mothma and Draven would probably not care that much about the flings of teens and 20-somethings. The kind of concerted, intense effort leveled against Anne in Persuasion might need something more.
But Cassian, despite his sidelines in assassination and field command, is primarily a recruiter. So. Suppose that his ostensible mission is rebuilding ties with the Partisans and working out some mutual support arrangement. But in reality, the judgment of Intelligence is that the Partisans are doomed by their extreme insularity, drastic collateral damage, unclear objectives, and attraction of Imperial attention. Coordination with the Partisans is an acceptable start, but the actual goal is to draw as many of Saw’s highly-skilled fighters into the Alliance as possible before the whole organization self-destructs or gets obliterated, but without turning Saw actively against them.
Of course, it’s not a secret that the Alliance is generally out to peel off as many recruits as they can get, and ofc the Rebel agent is going to be trying to draw people into the Rebellion. But what they don’t know is that this is why Cassian is there.
Okay, anyway, this is what 23-y-o Cassian is up to. It’s a task of extraordinary trust, and he’s on guard against almost everything. But falling madly in love with Saw’s foster daughter was not one of those things. And it’d be one thing if he was just pining (it would be awful, but—), but no, this ferocious, shining supersoldier is (for some reason) also in love with him.
On top of that, they’re both very much older than their ages, but in some ways younger—they were never able to be kids, to have silly crushes, anything like that. So they’re dorky and overwhelmed and unrealistic, just swept off their feet. They hold hands and talk about … running off together? But they can’t stop fighting the Empire. Cassian would never make a Partisan, but Jyn could join the Rebellion. And then they could be together!!!
(I suspect that at heart, Jyn wants out; large-scale collateral damage is not her gig.)
Anyway, Cassian would get a very sharp reality check, because the point was to draw away as many useful soldiers as he could without completely antagonizing Saw, and wow is “seducing away his best soldier and, oh yeah, DAUGHTER” not included in that description. Of course, he’s horrified because It’s Not Like That, but also … well. Yeah.
And while Jyn is brashly sure that of course she’ll succeed at whatever she does, she always has, he’s increasingly doubtful that she’d be at all happy in the Rebellion. The Partisans are her family, the only life she knows; she doesn’t know anyone else in the Rebellion at all, she’d chafe under the command structure, she’d lose everything, and have nothing to counterbalance it all but one tormented spy.
They’re not going to demand that a talented soldier not join the Rebellion, of course, or involve themselves in the obvious affair. But they don’t have to; once persuaded, Cassian does the dirty work himself. He persuades Jyn to stay with the Partisans after all, breaks things off, and leaves, having carefully arranged for a good number of Partisans to defect to the Rebellion over the next several months. Jyn, naturally, feels furious and betrayed (all the more after some of her friends leave).
And that’s where it starts, lol. Now I’m thinking—like, taking ‘little sister’ and running with it, Sophy would be Baze and Admiral Croft would be Chirrut (AMAZE). While I don’t see Cassian getting winded by a long walk à la Anne, he could be hiding an injury or something that Jyn notices (and hates that she notices, and hates more that nobody else does).
I don’t know at all who would play the Louisa Musgrove role (it’s not my favourite element of the plot tbh, but kind of necessary). And I don’t know how the scene with Wentworth helping Anne with her nephews would play out but it needs to happen, it’s my favourite. And of course the gender politics wouldn’t really work. (Though Wentworth/Jyn coming to their senses via competence kink would, lol.) And we’d need some terribad teammates or something to serve the role of the Elliots.
(Draven would really be the best bet, if not already taken as the Lady Russell. That really works best as someone that Cassian is actually close to, though, which is… like, nobody. And honestly, Lady Russell is the only person Anne is close to, but—OMG, KAY. IF KAY IS LADY RUSSELL … JESUS. HAHAHA WOW. That’d even work with Kay and Jyn being super chilly at each other, and Cassian could overhear Jyn talking ~idly~ with some of the rest of the team about a mission that went hilariously-in-retrospect wrong thanks to Rebel!Mary Musgrove this shitty commander. They’d have much rather had Andor, since SpecOps do serve under Intelligence now and then, but couldn’t get him. The rumour was that [x] talked him out of it. And Jyn’s like, huh, he’s very easily persuaded, isn’t he? And they’re … not really? That damn droid and direct commands are pretty much the only thing that stops him.)
((For bonus awful: during their brief honeymoon phase, the idea had been that Jyn would join up with SpecOps and once he made captain, they could build a joint Intel/SpecOps team.))
Oh, and Benwick is a former Partisan who was in love with a civilian in Jedha who died before they could settle down. I think the Harvilles joined the Rebellion (probably Cassian’s not!recruits, in fact). Also, there definitely needs to be a way of working in the ‘even when hope is gone’ speech (though as above, the gender politics don’t work at all).
Ha, even the ‘I should not have known her’ slam could work? I mean, it’s absurd to talk about Cassian as ~faded~, but he is definitely prematurely aged, and Jyn could easily make a snide remark about hardly recognizing him.
I can’t see Jyn writing anything so melodramatic as Wentworth’s letter, but it’d be sort of hilarious if she types up her vision into a datapad and then is trying to figure out a way to casually leave it lying around, but not so casually that Cassian doesn’t notice. (As if, but Emotions.)

Maybe it's degrading to you, but the reality is Kishimoto wrote her in a way that she doesn't have an opinion on much everything, and that she generally makes dumb decisions. The only version of Hinata that exist is the one Kishimoto wrote, that is what I'm talking about. I'm not gonna talk about what fans wish she was like.
"She definitely may have" headcanon based on no evidence.
"Fans responsibility to fill in the blanks" with their headcanons based on wish fulfillment instead of evidence.
If you want to create a character from nothing and pretend that's how she's like in canon/the manga as in this meme, then yeah people are allowed to point out it's not accurate. Because in the end you are creating an oc. She's not sassy, and she's not "intelligent" for not having a crush on Sasuke. People don't have a problem with Sakura, Karin and Ino having a crush on Sasuke, they have a problem whenever they act like dumbasses due to it. Which Hinata has also done in regards to Naruto. If Naruto suddenly became something you found "stupid" I quarantee Hinata would act just like Sakura when it comes to him. Because unlike Temari or Tsunade for example, who are headstrong and smart about their love interests, both Hinata and Sakura are written to be doormats who only care about their crush. Even their body languge around their crush shows weakness, something we don't see from Temari. Temari also cares about both of her brothers deeply, while Sakura disrespected her parents everytime they were brought up, and Hinata was getting wet over Naruto's big hand when Neji's body hadn't even gotten cold yet. At some point you just have to accept Kishimoto can write a female character to have dignity, he just never meant Saku and Hina be like that.
I don't want to be rude, but I really cannot relate to this need to pretend a character is complete opposite of what they are in order to like them. It only shows you do not actually like them. And since I was in the shitpost tag, I felt compelled to comment.
Day 13 of iconic naruto memes

The ICD-11 mentioning something about it is a small starting point but as said more clinical research needs to be conducted, collected, and analyzed on more than *15 people* like someones google doc cherry-picked mess.
Way more people need to be involved. Or as it says by survey planet: "However, a sample size of at least 500-1000 respondents is recommended for online surveys."
You're talking about completely different types of research.
This is an interview study, not a survey. And for this type of study, 15 is about the norm.
And frankly, I don't think a survey would make much sense without these sorts of interviews first. Otherwise, researchers wouldn't even know the types of questions to try to ask in a survey.
What you're complaining about is just... a completely normal study with a completely normal sample size...
Also, Varieties of Tulpa Experiences includes a survey of tulpamancers with 141 participants. 🤷♀️
I feel the part saying “you can be plural without a disorder” (6B64) is taken little bit out of context, or at most misunderstood. I feels like it’s saying in the case with having an alter ego (not a system, think superheroes with their hero identity, or like Hannah Montana, Lady Gaga's alter ego of Jo Calderone. Again not systems, or even plurality) or as it’s describing in the text “mediums” which are entirely different; they are psychics, y'know by a definition: "relating to or denoting faculties or phenomena that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, especially involving telepathy or clairvoyance." Not systems.
I really see no reason to interpret that text as alter egos like you describe.
If you think about the specific effects of mediumship (rather than purported spiritual component,) I think that paints a more accurate picture of what that's supposed to be about.
Spirit channelers report hallucinatory/pseudo-hallucinatory phenomena including hearing the voices of other agents. Sometimes outside of their head but also in a way that reflects mindvoice communications by systems. They also frequently engage in dissociative rituals that involve letting those agents possess or control them.
Look past the spiritual claims and this is what you're left with. An experience of other autonomous agents that can commune with the main fronter internally and possess the body.
That's clearly the baseline for what this is referring to when it mentions this as an example of experiencing the presence of multiple "distinct personality states."
But with another meaning of "systems without trauma" while trying to wiggle their way in traumagenic spaces and spreading harmful misinformation is where I feel is disgusting
It was just a cultural spiritual belief like otherkins or even therians (which is what we are, at least me... Wyvern is a spiritual past-life wolf therian) they need to come up with their own terms and their own space WHILE respecting others.
I find this take to be a bit revisionist.
Fully endogenic systems (not mixed origin) entering traumagenic spaces is largely... not really a thing. If a server is exclusively for traumagenic systems, you won't generally see non-traumagenics trying to get in. You also don't usually see non-traumagenic systems invading traumagenic tags like anti-endos have done to general plural spaces.
Nearly 30 years of syscourse shows the opposite trend.
A group of non-disordered systems grew up in a world that told them multiplicity was inherently disordered. They rejected this notion because they knew they were multiple and didn't have a disorder or trauma.
They started creating their own websites and their own vocabulary that didn't rely on medicalization. They started calling themselves plural instead of multiple, which had connections to MPD. They started calling the people in their head headmates instead of alters. Fictive and factive were borrowed from the endogenic soulbonder community.
It was endogenic and pro-endo communities that created resources for plurals like Simply Plural and Pluralkit.
The history of the endogenic community has always been a history of making our own spaces, making our own terms, making our resources and making our own communities. All while anti endos invade our spaces, steal the resources we built, harass us, and try to push us out of the communities we made.
It's literally in the ICD-11!
@svnwolves
The DSM sort of implies this but doesn't make it quite as explicit. But the ICD-11 makes it painfully clear that you can be plural without trauma. Of course, "plural" is a community term, so it doesn't use that word. What it says instead is that DID is characterized by having "two or more distinct personality states."
Then it establishes that you can experience the presence of two or more distinct personality states without a disorder in its boundary with normality:
(Normality in this context means it's not pathological or a disorder. Not that it's common.)
This is about as clear as you can expect a diagnostic handbook using clinical terminology to get to "you can be plural without trauma." Or at least to "you can be plural without a disorder." (Although I feel the lack of trauma as a cause for this non-disordered plurality is also implied.)

okay i was gonna put this in the tags but it's too long now so it's becoming a full ass reply lol
anyways, putting this under a cut so it's not too long-
To extrapolate on this: I read an analysis yesterday detailing the relationship between c!Dream and c!Tommy. It explained how c!Dream fixates on c!Tommy very early on in the smp, before roleplay and planning and lore was really an established thing, where it was all pretty much improv and vague ideas for the next interesting event. It explained how c!Dream grew to obsess over c!Tommy for whatever his (at the time) unknown motives were.
So, what if you're right? What if Tommy (someone who genuinely values other people's thoughts, opinions, and feelings under all that trauma related distrust and self-protective aggression) was Dream's (who does operate with other people's thoughts, opinions, and feelings in mind, but not because he values them, but to manipulate and direct them to his end goal) narrative AND LITERAL opposite? Dream's failed clone? Someone similar enough to you that even just a minor difference in how you're reared can result in a completely different person? Someone who, for instance, has grown to develop ideals and morals that might clash with your own?
What if I presented the idea that perhaps... Dream doesn't know that Tommy is his clone.
Would you not be initially interested in someone that looks like you (you wear a mask all the time, no one knows what you look like other than yourself and maybe someone else before you go off the deepend), someone who maybe even sounds like you (but british asdgjhjkl thanks Wilbur)? If you were someone paranoid enough to constantly wear a mask, would you not want to spend some time with and against this person, get to know them, learn about them, learn how they ticked, learn what kind of an Influence they had on the people around them?
An Influence that could rival your own?
I'm not even done! What if I went even further with this clone conspiracy and offered the idea that Dream himself is a failed clone of someone?
Of DreamXD?
Yesss yessss, hopefully my rambling conjecture has successfully lead you to realize that The Green Text had another purpose other than being thematically dramatic. I'd also seen a post somewhere that theorized that DreamXD's ultimate goal was acceptance (which I think was literally said by him in canon, on stream, word for word?), Something that might carry over to his failed clones.
So if you're pickin' up what I'm puttin' down:
DreamXD desires acceptance (what for and who from, idk yet, we haven't gotten that far in regards to DXD's lore and I have to start collecting evidence and data for everything else)
DXD creates Dream, either to become someone to accept him, or to help him achieve that acceptance
Dream fails that purpose, or something happens to Dream, or Dream escapes, or something something nobody knows yet! Hell, Dream could've failed his purpose, got DNA yoinked and then banished! Who knows!
I don't know when, but Dream definitely meets Ranboo and uses his fledgling Demi-God Influence to instill the Lessons in Ranboo, or to make Ranboo whatever he is today
TOMMY probably fails his purpose, or something happens to him, or he escapes, or yadda yadda yadda We've Seen This Before - Tommy gets banished to SMP Earth since apparently SMP Earth was canon i think?
Hop, Skip, And a Jump to the relative present, and Dream finally meets Tommy and immediately notices Something Is Up.
Perhaps Dream, reminiscent of his failure for his creator and how damn Familiar Tommy is, internalizes how easily Tommy can get people to Accept him (whether for better or for worse, really), becoming increasingly frustrated yet obsessed with what's essentially his long lost brother.
Maybe he doesn't remember everything, maybe he Can't Remember everything, who knows, but all he knows is that Tommy is important, 'Tommy Is The Key', Tommy creates attachments, Tommy creates Long-Term Emotional Acceptance
Cue the entire events of the SMP but pay close attention to how much c!Dream pays close attention to c!Tommy. How much he does in order to get Tommy under his control. How much he does in order to get the Key To Acceptance Attachments under his control.
Then, remember that someone is trying to make friends with people. Remember that someone is looking for acceptance from one of Dream's closest friends. Remember that DreamXD is back here. :)

Hc/au or whatever
Ok so I'm pretty sure its canon that Tommys character was made in a lab, so idea.
Hes a failed clone of Dream, and thats why Dream hates him. Hes all his imperfections and flaws and he hates that. That's why they're so similar. That's why Drista, puffy, and foolish take an interest in him, hes basically the younger version of a boy they once knew
#babe wake up new au ideas just dropped#OKAY JOKES ASIDE#GENUINELY GOOD HEADCANON OP MY GODS I AM THINKING#i was wondering if i could make a hopefully developed spin off of your headcanon? 🥺👉👈#the rusted gears are finally starting to crank and spin in my head#its been so long since i've had something that made me want to draw and scheme and write and cackle evilly to myself#i will ABSOLUTELY be crediting you as the muse to my machinations don't you worry a hair on your pretty little head#I don't know if I would want to make it canon compliant or canon divergent#yknow in the case in which Something Is Realized#idk if this is an AU or just a theory/a different lense to see the DSMP through#this is so much fun honestly :)#dsmp#dream smp#dreamwastaken#dream mcyt#tommyinnit#tommyinnit mcyt#dreamxd#dsmp failed clones au

Preserving @xcziel’s tags for posterity, because I co-sign aaaaaaall of them. Also, go read the story; it’s aces.
liu sang pingxiesang definitely you should read this entire series bc it is amazing i love this liu sang to an unhealthy degree he is so very prickly and resigned yet wanting to care and be cared for second guessing his own value to others but absolutely certain of his inherent worth despite that like the part in this chapter where he's like ok they're willing to do this for me but for /how long/? how long until i am too demanding until it's too much effort and i'm no longer worth it? and like who /hasn't/ felt that at some time in a relationship? (any kind of relationship not only romantic/sexual) liu sang-of-this-fic is SO incredibly relatable the stuff about personal autonomy and independence hit me HARD and the first chapter of this fic kinda took my breath away like there was a post just recently about how a lot of published literary fiction (by men) just completely fails at sex scenes and i IMMEDIATELY thought of this fic bc it is an exquisite example of combining a sex scene with character development and narrative while also being insanely erotic - it's in exact opposition to the limp navel-gazing sexual introspection of a lot of novels and also to the escstatic breathless throes of passion where characters forget all else other than the moment and overwhelming sensation rarely do i come across a sex scene that can also expertly and movingly double as a character study - and only ever in fanfiction and then this chapter! again liu sang's motivations and underlying insecurities are laid out so clearly all while suffused in this the recognizably warm and comforting awkwardness of a difficult topic being purposefully avoided i just - the narrative is so clear! i can follow everyone's concerns and lines of thought so easily but without a strain on the overall mood of care and underlying trust? it's so hard to explain in words how MUCH i appreciate and how we're lead to intimately understand liu sang's inherent NEED for his boundaries and the hard work he has put into constructing his life to be respected - even by people he would *almost* be willing to abandon a level of self-respect for - the fact that he so clearly WANTS to be able to trust and to abandon himself to both pleasure and caretaking but is prevented from that by a sense of self-preservation that kicks in when he begins to feel that wu xie and xiaoge see him as slightly less-than or 'second place' in their relationship which - 'may be true but hey at least don't rub it in his face!' - gives him a justified basis for his very real anger that is *not* lessened by his 'better something than nothing' logical reaction i've said before that i love the idea of liu sang being dommy and demanding but i could never have the genius to imagine it as the result of a swallowed-down frustration at being turned aside from his ideal fervently anticipated reunion sex and a desire to both enjoy every bit of both of them that he can and also both express his displeasure and stake his intended claim in an unequivocal way i just love EVERY BIT OF IT OKAY??? i can only babble about how i REALLY enjoyed the first two parts of the series but this one is just it takes all of my complicated 'liu sang as an independent competent but lonely professional' feelings and wraps them in amazing sex and character exploration while also making me adore xiaoge and wu xie anew! (xiaoge as the emotionally insightful one!) (did not see that coming!) and like at first i thought chapter one was a whole complete perfect one-shot but to find there was more?????

#liu sang#pingxiesang#fic rec#it’s cheating a little#because I’ve had the very good fortune#to not only be the gift recipient of the first two stories in this series#but to beta this third one#and I have been flailing verbally at momos for weeeeeks#about the delicious pleasure of LS asserting bodily autonomy#and still!#being!#desired!#after making what feels to him unreasonable demands#that he is loved BECAUSE of his character#not in spite of it#and now they’re gonna bang it out#and it’s gonna be so emotionally satisfying for everyone#good stuff#is what I’m saying
