The energy I cultivate is that I try not to fuck up, but when I do, friends come to tell me I've fucked up.

Like, they trust me enough to know I won't blow up or double down, and that I'll try to fix whatever mistake I made.

I just wanted to say I really admire how effortlessly masculine you are but how you also love so many traditionally "feminine" things. I am working on coming out as a trans man and dread people telling me I'm not allowed to knit and stuff anymore

One of the annoying aspects of transition is you become this walking litmus test for weird gender essentialism - even in progressive folks - and you're gonna learn just how much people deprive themselves of personal joy because of it.

I cannot tell you how many well-meaning people ended up shitting on my hobbies out of a desire to give me "man lessons" that I never asked for in the first place.

All I can say is, stick to your guns. Sure, knitting has also historically been a masculine activity, but to acknowledge such feels like giving credence to the argument that you have to drop "unmanly" interests. Knit because you like to knit, not because you are "allowed to" based on some gendered technicality.

Don't feel like you need to sacrifice parts of yourself in order to transition. If the best version of you is a man who knits, or a man who likes pink, or a man who enjoys wearing makeup, resist the urge to destroy these pieces of yourself.

Detractors will attempt to weaponize everything about you in an attempt to de-legitimize who you are. The most radical thing you can do is show them how your passions only make you stronger.

The dread is real, but it gets easier to assert yourself over time. You might even find yourself becoming an ambassador to other men wrt your hobbies. Good luck!

so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!

Bad Ending - Side B

A freshly widowed Anabel decides to force herself up the ranks of Interpol's higher echelon.

Mizrak is someone who is incapable of confronting his own insecurities and doubts in a healthy way, and I almost can't blame him for that. He's discovered that the order he pledged himself to was a tool for evil, that he was a tool for evil. And this further causes him to doubt his own place in God's kingdom: what does it mean for his soul? What does it mean about God's mercy? These questions are broad and big and scary, and he doesn't have the tools around him to properly grapple with them: the Abbott is a lost cause, Tera is dead, he doesn't know Juste or Alucard enough to confide in them these things, and Maria and Richter are children.

So what does he do instead? He takes it out on Olrox.

Mizrak is downright vicious with Olrox. He repeatedly calls him an animal, an evil creature. When Olrox opens up to him about the Spanish invasion of his homeland, Mizrak responds with disdain that his gods must not have been powerful enough. I don't think these jabs are truly about Olrox (however pointed and vile they are; plenty of others have pointed out how loaded it is for Mizrak to call Olrox (an Indigenous man) a soulless animal, when that kind of language was used to justify the genocide of Indigenous people. And responding to Olrox speaking about the genocide of his people with a derisive "your gods were wrong" is also uncomfortably in line with rhetoric used during these ethnic cleansings). I think Mizrak is externalizing his own insecurities and projecting them onto the closest, most convenient punching bag. He can't confront his own insecurities about his soul (not until he's on his deathbed at least), so he tears at Olrox's instead. He can't outright say he's doubting his own God, so he insults Olrox's gods instead.

And though I'm sure Olrox did what he thought was a kindness, sparing Mizrak's soul, cheating the Devil for him...based on how we have seen Mizrak react to other vampires, I doubt he'll see it the same way (at least at first.)

Because now, Mizrak, Mr "Loves Projecting His Own Problems Onto Other People" is going to have the perfect reason to double down on using Olrox as his punching bag for his own fears.

Now Olrox is the one who damned him. Now Olrox is the one who barred him from God's Kingdom.

And what's even sadder, is based on how he's handled Mizrak's previous barbs...I think Olrox is going to let him.
