“I don't require such things anymore,” he explained serenely, fingers absentmindedly tracing the complex patterns of his arm. “This body doesn't feel cold, or hunger, or want. It is pure of all the desires the man I once was might have had.”

This morning, a side blog of mine got shadowbanned. It isn't even the first time it happened. It is my kink blog and it got shadow banned around the end of last year/start of the new year and when I tried to appeal for it, it got deleted for apparently having art of "underage characters in sexual depictions". Thing is, my kink blog is one of the most harmless in the community and it is tagged and names are censored and I make sure that only people of the community should find it and not someone random who didn't want to see it. You have to know, other blogs of our kink have blatant IRL gifs of kink behaviour and sex and sometimes you can see downright genitals. IRL genitals! The only genitals I had on my blog were reblogged fanart and they were all tagged with nsfw so that people had something to block. And because this happened again, I am pretty sure that someone tries to damage me and reports my blog and that someone must be from within the community. I have no clue who it is and if I find them, I will block, it is just... When I saw the block shadowbanned, I was like "Man, that sucks" and moved on with my life. But over the day, I got really upset about it. And that was when it dawned on me... All the stuff that happened lately... I was barely hanging on a thread. My husband still in hospital -> Fine My cat got sick -> Fine My car is damaged -> Fine My stupid kink blog is shadow banned -> The end of the world. disable your likes as being visible & disable  the blogs you're following from being visible

The reason for the previous bullet points  is that the Tumblr like is not the same as other social media - it is used as a bookmark button.  Often times people will bookmark content to look at it later (videos, long textposts, etc.) but it is not an endorsement of the content.  Information on this website is much more dense than it is on Twitter which is more bite sized, so not everyone will have read the texts or watched the videos of posts they "liked." People can and they will use your likes against you. and just like Twitter, if you happen to be following someone and that person says something the people don't agree with, if you are following that person you can get pulled into the situation even if you know nothing about it.   so for this reason pretty much all of Tumblr has unanimously agreed to have their likes and follow blogs  hidden to prevent unnecessary infighting. 

 Choosing not to see other peoples likes on your dashboard follows the same principle and it is one of respect for your fellow user

The above may seem deeply weird to Twitter users but we have far less drama on this website. It is significantly more peaceful because we have decided to curate the community in this way.  You don't necessarily have to hide your likes or your follows, but that's the reason why we as a community do that.  It used to get as bad as it gets on Twitter, but it doesn't anymore. We have learned to live in harmony here. fighting still occurs certainly but not nearly to the same extent.

make sure that you  set the toggle that enables you to see content that is filtered on iOS. This is entirely safe for work content  that was filtered out by mistake but Tumblr hast to keep in place to appease Apple or some thing like that but it does hide lot of content and prevents users from communicating with one another.

 If you are 18 or older make sure to input your birthday to prove your age and have "mature content"  set so that it either appears on your dashboard as normal or that it appears blurred.  A lot of content is mistakenly marked as mature as a form of censorship even if it is not graphic in the slightest. I have seen text posts that use the word "fuck" that have been marked mature

YOU CANNOT POST PORN HERE. YOU WILL GET BANNED. if you post something that isn't porn and it gets flagged, you can usually appeal it. but if it is actual porn (irl or illustrated), you're in hot water. do not tag posts as "NSFW" or "NSFT" (not safe for tumblr, an alternative many porn blogs used). invent a different acronym for reblogging dirty jokes, or you may get shadow banned. i use NSFM, personally.

 That said,  you're technically able to say whatever you want on this website within reason. It's not like Twitter where if you say you want to  guillotine the rich you get suspended or something.  But do be aware that like Twitter, all text  can be picked up by Tumblr search.  So if you type something like " I want Stede bonnet to crush my  head with his thighs like a watermelon"  there is a chance that other users will see that post if they look in the stede bonnet tag. (hi all!)

most celebrities do not use this website so you're able to talk about them without censoring their names. Just be aware  that fans of that celebrity may see your post.

 likewise do be careful if you're talking about groups that perpetuate transphobia, because those groups do use Tumblr  just like they use Twitter. if T*RFs reblog or comment on your posts, block and ignore. do not platform them by arguing. you put your followers (and accounts you follow) at risk when you engage them. you also reenforce their held beliefs that trans people are aggressive. it isn't up to you to deradicalize them. you can report people for bigotry on this website but most of the time the reports don't actually do anything. So your best friend is the block button.

The difference between commenting in the tags, commenting in the replies,  and commenting directly on the post is thus: 

commenting on the tags is the equivalent to sitting in a room with thousands of people and commenting to those at your table. Other people might overhear you,  but the message is intended for those at the table, your friends.

 Commenting in the replies is the equivalent to standing up  and walking over to  the person who just gave a speech.  It is intended for them.  Other people can overhear it and they definitely will - which means that some people might stand up and walk over to you and start talking to you. Especially if you say something really rude.

 Commenting in the reblogs is the equivalent of standing on top of the table and shouting to the entire room.  you don't do this unless you feel like you're contributing to the post in a comedic fashion or you're adding information that others may find helpful. Otherwise, you look like a clown.  Also by commenting on a post, as with the replies, you are opening yourself up to a response from anyone else in the room. So if you're rude on someone's post, or you're spreading misinformation,  people are going to want to have a word with you.  You don't get to use the response "this is my blog and I say what I want" - because you've made the decision to go on to someone else's post.

 Now with every form of communication, the OP of the post will be able to read everything. So if you're writing in your tags  and you start trauma dumping or writing lurid sexual fantasies or otherwise being a weirdo, the OP of the post may block you.  the OP  (or anyone) may also choose to highlight your tags  or otherwise respond to them depending on what is said.  Sometimes someone will write something very funny or very thoughtful, and that's usually why.  They want others to see the contribution.

 There is also the notion of "prev tags."  culturally, this is a relatively new development and a lot of people were mad about it at first.  But the purpose of prev tags is  to nod in agreement at the metaphorical table.  You're keeping the conversation amongst you and your friends.  Whereas screenshotting  someone's tags and adding them directly into the post is the equivalent of shouting "HEY GUESS WHAT THEY SAID!" so it's entirely contextual. prev tags is also used as a meme.  For example someone may say something deeply absurd.  And so people will blog that post and say "prev tags" in a chain, encouraging people to follow that chain to the inevitable conclusion. A funny example I saw recorded in video form, was a text post that said  something about white haired anime boys.  And there was a chain of like 20 people encouraging you to work your way through the reblog. And the punchline was "Santa Claus."

although there is an option now to automatically shorten posts, it is considered proper etiquette to tag long posts as such. this post will be one.

when you reblog  a post and you tag it, there are three primary things you are doing.  One is to comment on it, one is to apply any categorization you wish so that you can find the post again, and one is to add filter tags for your followers who don't want to see that type of post. The last one is normally reserved for triggers -  things like blood or violence or flashing images.  People have different policies on this, but most users are willing to tag their posts if you ask them to.  So if you were deathly afraid of frogs, you could ask someone to tag frogs for you.

and yeah Tumblr filtering actually works. If you block a tag, you will get a pop-up that obscures the content if someone blocked a post with that tag or keyword in it,  giving you the option of whether or not to engage.  But if you are looking in Tumblr search, those posts will be screened out automatically so you won't even see the pop-up.  I think it's because Tumblr assumes that when you follow a blog you're following someone you trust, whereas Tumblr search is the wild west and it's full of strangers -  so they're like "nope we are not showing you your triggers at all."

as for the second use case, you don't need to reblog a post  and add  1 million categorization tags.  Because other people aren't going to see your reblog  in the Tumblr search. so you're wasting your time if you're like "#ofmd #our flag means death #our flag means death stede #ofmd stede #ofmd stede bonnet #our flag means death stede bonnet" -  you look silly. this only works  if it is the original post.  Also because of the way that Tumblr works most of those tags a redundant because if you so much as mention a keyword in your post it's probably going to end up in the tag

do not tag an original post with unrelated hashtags.  You will clog up the tags and people will hate you. 

 it is recommended that you have anon asks disabled  because a lot of people use them to be cruel. But a lot of people leave them open for people who are too shy to talk to them otherwise.  There are also a lot of ask games that circulate which makes use of anon.  Like having your friends give you compliments, but you don't know who they are. so it's a personal decision and you can change it any time.  But if people are being cruel to you, don't let them. It is OK to close anon asks.

while twitter makes  great use of alt text, it is much more common on this website to write image/audio descriptions, which are pasted directly into the body of the post. Either in the original post itself, or in the replies. If someone transcribes your post for you, the etiquette is to thank them, copy their transcript,  paste it onto your original post, and add a credit for the person who transcribed it. A lot of people volunteer their time doing this for people who otherwise do not have the spoons to do it themselves.

Do not tag with "epilepsy" -  that prevents  epileptic users from communicating with one another,  because their tag  is full of content that can hurt them. it doesn't eliminate the problem entirely, but it's part of a cultural shift to make those spaces  safer in the future.

if you like a post,  you should reblog it.  That allows your followers to see it and gives the post more reach. The likes  as I said before, function as a bookmark. They are also used to show emotional support to a friend.

 Tumblr has recently introduced the concept of unrebloggable posts.  You can make a post unrebloggable from the get-go or  you can edit it later. you can also make it so that the original post remains rebloggable, but an individual reblog of it  cannot be shared. So for example, I could make a shit post that takes off and people enjoy. And let's say someone was rude to me in response to the shit post. I could reblog my own post, say " don't be an asshole" - and then make it so that the "don't be an asshole" edition is not shareable, but leave the original shitpost to be shared. some people may choose to make their original  post and unshareable  if they are receiving too many notifications, they are being harassed, the original post had misinformation,  or simply for fun. Some people have started a sort of "you can only reblog this post  until x  date" game.

Tumblr has a feature known as the read more.  Read more is actually a lot more complex than most people realize. The read more allows you to hide  a long string of text under it, sparing people on your dashboard from having to scroll a long time.  But a read more  is not a drop-down button. It is a redirect link that takes you to the original post. And because of this, if the original post is edited, you will always see the most up-to-date version under the read more.  This makes it an excellent format for news posts with developing stories.  But because of this set up, if the original post is deleted or the blog is deactivated/banned, the information underneath is lost forever. it is important to be aware of that. Even if you reblog that post,  whatever is underneath is entirely determined by whether or not the original post can still be accessed. So if you want some thing to be archived, do not put it under or read more. If your blog gets wrongfully deleted, that information is gone and cannot be recovered unless you have cache  on the way back machine.

do not use a default profile picture and do not have a blank blog (blog with no reblogs).  You will scare the user base and they will block you on site.  The first thing you should do upon joining Tumblr is immediately changing your icon and then finding a or two to reblog.  This tells people that you are a human being, and not a bot. 

you can have sideblogs on this website. In fact there is no limit to how many blogs you can own. The only limit is how many sideblogs  you are permitted to make per day. Side blogs allow you to organize content by fandom or theme.  However the side blog will always be tied to your main blog.  You cannot delete your main blog and keep your sideblogs, you cannot select a sideblog to be your new main.  And when you send someone an ask,  comment in the reply section of a post, or click like on a post, it will display as your main blog.  So total anonymity is not possible.  You can, however, send and reply to DM using your sideblog,  as well as answer asks directed towards the sideblog,  and reblog a post (and comment in the comment section + tags)  as that blog. 

URL hoarding is when someone makes the decision to save a username by making a blank sideblog so other people cannot use it. this is considered kind of an asshole move, especially if you have a lot of URLs hoarded,  but I think most users have at least one or two that they have saved for a rainy day.  I know for a while I had a lot that were Spock themed. you are able to change your user name, but that releases it into the wild. So some people will hoard their previous usernames  to prevent identity theft (as well as to redirect to their most current username if people are looking for them.) This is a different thing, but some people view them as being the same.

 Tumblr does not use "OOMF" or "moots" -  we usually just say the entire word of followers and mutuals. Some people might be confused if you use Twitter terminology here

A little long thing on censorship and boundaries on the internet

Okay prefacing this by saying this post is only written for tumblr and ao3. If you go beyond those I have no knowledge for you unfortunately, but maybe people can chime in in the notes.

Starting off, each person is responsible for controlling their own internet experience. We’re lucky that tumblr does not have an algorithm that forces unexpected things onto your dash (aside from blazed posts and based on your likes, but more on that later). You are in complete control of the content that appears on your dash, based on who you follow. Likewise, on ao3 you’re able to filter searches so you see what you want to see, and no one is making you click on the things you don’t. No one owes you anything with their content, aside from the ability to avoid it if you choose.

Follow up, you are responsible for making your content avoidable for people who don’t want to see it. If you’re writing the kinkiest fic out there, that’s fine. That’s yours to write and share as you wish. But you’re responsible for tagging it so that people who aren’t after that kind of material don’t see it if they want to. That way you get people who are happy to see/read your works, and people aren’t confronted with 50 Shades of Gray when they were really just looking for some PG hand holding.

Basic tags for those who aren’t used to tagging systems are whether it’s NSFW, any particular kinks, and any potential triggers (things like gore, underage, no con, suicide- if there’s an archive warning for it on ao3, it’s probably something you should tag so people can avoid it). Make sure that you spell the thing out without typos or euphemisms or @ny w31Rd $tuff that would lead to it NOT being filtered. (We don’t Unalive here, we kill, and Unalive will show up even when kill has been filtered out.)

What if someone I follow reblogs something that I don’t want to see or find problematic? If it’s something specific you’re trying to avoid, tumblr has tag filtering. You can block tags related to that thing, and it won’t show up on your dash uncensored. In case you ever want to see what’s behind that censor in spite of the tag, you’ll have the option to view it anyway- you won’t miss that the post exists entirely. If it’s something that hasn’t been tagged, it might be a good idea to (kindly!! Respectfully!!) request that the person tag it appropriately. If they refuse, you might want to unfollow them so you don’t have to see it anymore.

I unfollowed someone whose content bothered me, but my mutuals keep reblogging it so I still see it on my dash. You can block them! Then reblogs won’t show up on your dash, no matter how many mutuals reblog it. Blocking someone does nothing to them- try not to see it as something aggressive or offensive. You have the right to control what you see online, and blocking is a way to do that more effectively. You can always unblock them later if you change your mind!

Things from people I don’t follow keep showing up on my dash. This could be a couple of things. If it says “based on your likes!” or “tags you follow”, that’s something you can disable in settings (I can edit this post later with the exact locations) and tumblr won’t show you those anymore. That said, those are still subject to tag filtering, so that’s also a good approach if you don’t want those things to go away completely.

Now that blazed posts are around, there’s a chance you might get something you don’t like through that, but I’m not sure if there’s a way to filter those out. I haven’t seen a blazed post from tags I block yet, so… so far so good? If anyone knows, please chime in!!

Some content shouldn’t exist online, even if it can be blocked/filtered/avoided. This is the most important point on this post. I do think that some things shouldn’t exist online. My mother also thinks some things shouldn’t exist online. However, we don’t agree on what those things are, and we both agree that there are some cases where we would make exceptions to our rules. If we start purging content that we don’t agree with, it’s going to become a question of who is disagreeing with the content. Gotta be honest folks, in that scenario, I’m pretty sure the voices that get listened to will be straight, cis, and white.

TL;DR: Internet freedom disappears when we allow censorship, but we do still need to protect each others’ boundaries when we’re online. The best way to do that is to tag your content (no tag limits on tumblr or ao3, so don’t hold back! Only the first five count for searches on tumblr but the rest can be used for filtering blocked tags), block and filter things you don’t want to interact with, and unfollow or block people who you can’t trust to respect boundaries.

We are moving out in a few days because we cannot afford our living situation, and we will become homeless for the time being. We will move to a shelter that is a city away because they are the nearest shelter that supports us LGBT folk. V's mother will be going elsewhere, thankfully.

We have several bags and a pillow to carry on our person.

Our body is weak and it's a huge strain.

We have no money, but we will make it.

V has two uncles and an aunt to crash with. We will then be driven to the capital. That is where the shelter is.

If only this body was as strong as we wish it could be, as moving out is extremely difficult for us physically. Alas, our deficiencies and other issues are deemed our fault, so we do not get help, no matter how debilitating.

I am not used to being fat as a [now] former Diamond Dog, I've never been fat, but I am of the belief that, no matter how much of it is someones fault, that it should still be treated with care, similar to a disability. Clearly we are not disabled, but we do lack ability due to our size among other things, and that shouldn't be treated with hostility.

Similarly, our body is somewhat hydrophobic. Not in the medical sense, we just cant stand to drink water on its own. That plus a soda addiction, makes things very hard. We are dehydrated, and while that is our fault, we should not be ridiculed for it when we are pushing our body to its limit.

Maybe this isn't the right way to think about it, and that is a fault of my own. I just think inability, whether its disability or something as simple as weakness should be treated with similar care, and they shouldn't be harshly criticized no matter who is at fault. Even if it isn't permanent or requires work to undo I think tending to folks with lesser ability in some areas is a good thing. Forgive my wording if it's incorrect or off, I am getting old and I don't know all the words. Oh my god, how old am I technically? ...Dear god, I'm 90 by today's standards! I'm glad we don't tend to age anymore...

V's mother also will not use our collective pronouns, nor V's pronouns at the very least. He/him is not that hard to use. We all can use, or at least don't mind he/him. There is a 50/50 chance for V's mother to use Oliver [V is short for Oliver] or his deadname.

Veil... A good codename, if I were still in a life of war. That's his codename for emergencies now. I've decided it. For more serious use, I'll keep a secret one in mind, though I doubt it will be needed. Can't ever be too cautious.

Let’s Talk About Trackers...

Because of the major talk about them yesterday and how an anon tried to throw me under the bus, I want to make an informative post about the specific tracker I use and certain others do too (assuming they still use these). This will also go under a keep reading so you don’t have to scroll in case you read it and then don’t wanna scroll past it a second time.

I personally use a site called statcounter. What is stat counter? Well, let me explain with an excerpt from Wikipedia!

“StatCounter is a web traffic analysis website started in 1999. Access to basic services is free and advanced services can cost between US$5 and US$119 a month. StatCounter is based in Dublin, Ireland. The statistics from StatCounter are used to compute web usage share for example. As of May 2019, StatCounter is used on 0.9% of all websites. StatCounter statistics are directly derived from hits—as opposed to unique visitors—from 3 million sites, which use StatCounter, resulting in total hits of more than 15 billion per month. No artificial weightings are used to correct for sampling bias, thus the numbers in the statistics can not be considered to be representative samples.”

Statcounter I find has some cool features too if you do run a business site, which I aim to do in the future, here’s some of the cool analytics stuff they have if you’re a business marketer:

This tool here provides where the majority of your people come from, so it will help businesses to have features such as this, so StatCounter is cool to use for business and marketing.

But that’s not why we’re here, are we?

StatCounter says they provide you with IPs in hopes of blocking/banning them from your site and/or stopping fraud on your website.

Sure, that’s useful as I personally use that to block people’s IPs if they send me hate anons. But here is how it’s an issue... This specific tab, which I know M/C uses quite often from my former friendship with her: Visitor Activity

Now, let’s go there and break it down. I will be censoring sensitive information like people’s locations and IP addresses to protect them.

I want to also address the “xxx is now using 100% of its log space” too.

It may be hard to read, but it says the following 

“Your Project Bara Shikki is now using 100% of its log space. This means that your website traffic data for detailed stats older than 7 months* will be overwritten to make room for new data. You can upgrade for $9/month to increase your log to 10+ years*. If you don't mind losing this old data for detailed stats, then no action is required on your part. Summary Stats are included with all plans and are unlimited.

* Estimated based on your current traffic”

For my other blog @ / dialoving-lemons, it deletes this info in 7 days due to the high demand traffic (it is a LOT more popular than any of my other blogs despite me being on hiatus there).

So while that is good, this information stays for a while. If someone is paying for this service, they can keep this info for a long time.

Now onto the part we are mainly addressing, addresses and IPs. I will use my own visits for the example (the white censor). And yes, you can appear on your own tracker as it picks anyone up who visits the URL.

I color coded this so we can do a breakdown. 

Yellow is my city. Green is the state (will be providence if you are in another country). Then you see “United States” as the country it says I’m from. Your country’s flag also appears before your location.

^^^This here is already pretty accurate and sensitive information, and we haven’t even gotten to the second line yet.

For the second line, we have these: Purple is your internet provider. White, that’s your IP. See that tag next to it? You can click on that and make notes in it for when that person returns to your url. You can even sign up for notifications to get emails or alerts on your phone (if you have the statcounter app). How do I know this? This is how:

Idk about you guys, but that’d make me uncomfortable to know someone could just get a ping saying I’m visiting their page. Again, I don’t know what features M/C uses, so I can’t say if she has this or not.

So not only can you find someone’s location, internet provider, and IP (which I think is enough for someone who hack or screw you over somehow, idk. I’d want to look that info up) but you can also stalk when they’re on your blog. This is a big YIKES.

Now back to the breakdown of the image from earlier...

You can learn what device they used, their browser, get a timestamp, and also how long they were on your page. I personally don’t care sharing this info, many of us use the most updated browser of our choice and most of us are on windows 10 for computer users.

So... yeah. While I use statcounter myself to block haters and redirect their IPs so they can’t get on my page anymore, I feel this site does give out too much information. On top of that, the one we all know who uses this software also has some software that checks who unfollows her. She uses these to get dirt on people and to expose them, it is not for her safety.

Now some tips on how to be safe if you don’t want to be tracked thanks to me testing things out:

Use the tumblr app.

The tumblr app uses coding for mobile usage. It does not rely on urls, but another form of code. StatCounter cannot log this code, so you will not appear on the visitor activity tab.

View blogs in side view

This is side view for those that don’t know. Side view acts a lot like the app in terms of the coding. So viewing like this is safe for you to not appear on trackers.

StatCounter relies on you typing in and clicking on urls on someone’s tumblr page (if installed on a tumblr).

As long as you are on a way that doesn’t rely on url systems, you are safe from appearing in someone’s tracker.

And a final note, if you are going to use one like I do, for blocking haters’ IPs, then I highly recommend putting a disclaimer in your description. I immediately did that when I installed mine so people knew they’d get rerouted if they started crap with me. I personally feel that keeping it secret that you have a tracker is violating someone’s consent as you are gathering info without their permission. By saying you have one, them being able to use ways where they won’t be tracked is very useful and helps them feel at ease knowing they can decide if they’re fine popping up on your tracker or not. Here is an example disclaimer you can put if you do put one in. Feel free to copy and paste too!

"Disclaimer: I use a tracker that allows me to see visitors’ IPs so I can block them if they cause problems for me, proceed at your own risk"

Okay by that logic, why are we allowing all these other shippers doing their thing? The people that ship with Sans from Undertale that is a skeleton? I mean he is still just a skeleton linking him strongly to the image of death so necrophilia much?

What about the people shipping with inanimate objects? The people shipping with transformers? Those are aliens and or vehicles? Yeah that is mechanophilia.

But I have seen posts catering to FUCKING WRITERS saying “pls keep nsfw out of ur imagines and reader fics :)))) for the minors, otherwise I cant reblog it.” If you want to cater to your minor audience sure, but I can not stress enough how you can not tell others how to run their shit. Yes, you can suggest that to the imagine writers or writers in general but it is their right to say “no I run it like I want to” and proceed with their shit. And there is nothing you can do about it. Besides if minors really want some nsfw, trust me they WILL find it. Should we therefore police everyone and stuck them into horny jail? No.

I don’t OWE it to you as much as writers and others don’t owe their trauma to you just so you can “give them permission” to deal with their trauma through selfshipping or writing. Who do you think you fucking are?

Fiction is not reality. And I am sick being stuck in medevial dark ages europe where people believed everything on a stage to be real life. Where actors were not allowed to exist and the people that did act and depicted a bad guy were generally shunned and hated by everyone bc they didn’t distinguish between fiction and reality.

Does fiction have an effect on reality? Yes. Jaws had repurcussions. Even the german novella “Die Leiden des jungen Werthers” had about a dozen suicides following the lead of the main character. 50 shades had an effect. 13 reasons why had an effect. But that doesn’t mean what you believe it means.

In the end I can not take the role of these minors parents to educate them and look after them. It shouldn’t be my job. And yes there are a lot of scummy adults on the internet. Like a LOT. But you need to understand that the internet will NEVER be a child safe place. And most adults take precautions already!

But fics aren’t for morality lessons. Fics aren’t for sex education. Fics aren’t there to be a fucking HOLY BOOK. Fics are just creative writing. And selfshippers are just there to have a bad time. And if they act out SURE call them out but otherwise just leave them tf alone?

It all always boils down to entitlement. Y’all need to understand that you can’t just run around demanding everyone to cater to your bullshit. You can not run around accusing people of pedophilia just because they would like to see themselves date a fictional character, but in their age.

If it makes you uncomfortable then don’t follow and interact with those people but you don’t need to pretend to have some moral high ground so you are the better person. You can just... have dislikes?

Even so, as I make this post I can not speak in broad terms because each case, each person is individual. Maybe some get off on shit and endorse it, how should I know? Maybe someone out there is fighting for not policing and censoring stuff because they actively want more pedo content, I don’t know, I am not the CIA or FBI?

It’s also none of my buisness. Is it aweful that these people exist? yeah. Are they prone to be on tumblr? probably? Are they that selfshipper that ages up their f/o so they can smooch? Unlikely.

People have their reasons. Their backstories, and none of that should have to be layed open just to get a strangers “okay” for shipping with the fictional character that makes them happy.

[you have probably already seen the first half of this because I am dumb and I posted it without making sure it was saved in full. I apparently am REALLY bad at making Tumblr work. Not that I am surprised by that, but still.]

Hi, I know, long time no see, I’m still a tinhat-wearing garbage-can who has no idea how to properly use Tumblr and English still isn’t my first language so kindly forgive any mistakes, but I’ve been on a good omens lockdown for the past two months and unfortunately I have Big Thinky Thoughts

The point is- book!Aziraphale&Crowley are very different from TV!Aziraphale and Crowley. But not in the sense that they’re different characters: they are the very same characters you see in the book, it’s just… They act differently. I’ve spent the last fortnight turning in bed, asking myself WHAT made them feel so different from the book and WHY it was. And then it hit me: the TV show characters operate under a system of beliefs that the book characters have already overcome. This makes sense, because while the book characters to me feel more settled and “static”, in the same way two old dudes who are just waiting for retirement have already grown into their skin and mostly know who they are, TV!A&C feel a lot younger to me, and we have the pleasure of watching their character as they develop, as they become more and more aware of who they are and what they want. Because THAT ultimately is the point: neither of them is really, completely AWARE of the point they’ve “gone native” up until the last episode.

I think it’s way easier to see in Aziraphale: in the book, he doesn’t shy away from bad deeds, he seems to acknowledge his “”“moral greyness”“” and the fact that his loyalty to Crowley overrides his loyalty to heaven -and that this isn’t something he is supposed to do, but his loyalty to the Arrangement is way more profound than his acquiescence towards heaven. His identity is not just formed around the fact that he is an angel: that’s just part of it, and that’s what makes it easier for him to be aware of his “bit of a bastard”. It doesn’t come as a surprise, for him, just as the spark of goodness isn’t surprising for Crowley. It’s just something they avoided talking about because, well, if anyone else had heard them, it wouldn’t have ended well. (But we’ll come back to this later on.) TV!Aziraphale, instead, seems to base almost all of his identity (what he consciously decides it’s his identity) solely on the fact that he is an angel: he HAS to be good, he HAS to do what is right. All those things he does that he knows are frowned upon in Heaven are quickly discarded, considered outliers, because they cause such great cognitive dissonance he cannot bear it. At first, he seems to be starting to question the Great Plan, but around the time Crowley comes asking for the holy water¹, he seems to realise fully how dangerous everything they’re doing is, and sweeps all of his doubts under a big, heavy rug of denial. Because it’s either that, or being wiped off the face of the Earth (and the whole creation) or completely losing his identity by Falling (because he wouldn’t be an angel anymore, and he’s based on this facet of himself like 99% of his identity), which is A Huge Effing Deal, especially since it’s the narrative of himself he’s been building for almost six millennia. So, Aziraphale has put in place a system of beliefs which says: God created Angels. God is perfect, and since The Almighty created Angels to be good, they are good. Therefore, I am Good, and I cannot be anything else. Does this take into account that “Good” is a broad definition that changes with the point of view? Nope. It doesn’t take into account, either, the fact that Heaven and Hell are, in truth, just names for sides, and not that different at all. Another mistake Aziraphale does it’s an attributional error: he thinks that everything good he does it’s because he’s an angel, and therefore supposed to be good, and expects other angels to be like him, when often it’s really Aziraphale *as an individual* who does Good Deeds.

Belief systems aren’t inherently Bad: they give us fixed points² in the sea of change, and it’s vital for us to have them. Belief systems become Bad the moment they don't serve their purpose anymore: that is, when instead of being helpful, they hold you back from understanding, from exploring possibilities. And that's what happens to Aziraphale and, to some extent, Crowley: they both cling to their beliefs even tho they're shown time and time again that what they think it's wrong, and they choose to cling to them because the alternative is to float in the sea of the unknown.

It is only once Aziraphale confronts the falseness of his beliefs (the moment he faces the Angels and they tell him they won't prevent the Apocalypse) that he is able, once and for all, to eradicate his belief system and integrate in a new sense of Self all of those traits he usually denied about himself.

What about Crowley, then? His belief system looks a liiittle bit more grounded in reality... Except not really. While, yes, he seems less bound to Hell, and justly distrustful, he doesn't fare all that better. It's just more tricky to recognise, because it's more about Crowley himself than it is about heaven or hell.

Book!Crowley, since the beginning, is literally a very tired, very old, very uncool entity who is just waiting to retire from a job he hates to spend his time tending to his plants and doting on his adversary-slash-bestfriend-slash-husband. He is pretty much aware of the fact that, while he loves mischief, he doesn't like actively harming anyone, is really repulsed by the idea of hurting deeply someone. He knows this, and knows Aziraphale knows this. He just doesn't like stating it out in the open because he is a paranoid bastard afraid anyone will overhear them -and rightly so, I might add, because, as stated beforehand, there will be Consequences. When Aziraphale tells him he is, after all, nice, he's resigned, because being nice doesn't make being a demon very easy. But that trait is already stark clear in his Self-image, and he acts accordingly.

TV!Crowley, tho? The moment he is dubbed "nice" literally explodes in anger.

This is not about "telling the whole blessed world", this is about Crowley not having the faintest idea he has the spark of goodness inside himself. He has convinced himself that since he Fell, since he is a demon, he must be Bad. And this, imho, is reflected in the way he takes credit for the Really Bad Stuff humans have done, as well: he is trying so bad to uphold the image of a Big Bad Demon, he tries to rejoice when people do bad stuff, even though it's clear he doesn't like it one bit.

And that's because if his and Aziraphale's belief system have one thing in common, is their trust in God: if the Almighty cast him out of heaven, there must have been a reason, and that reason is that, deep down, he isn't good. Crowley's self image is built all around that, as much as his acts of kindness probably end up mislabeled as selfishness³. And that is because he cannot accept that his Fall, something that still plagues him after six millennia, that has left him with such a scar that his plants take the brunt of it, was just over "asking questions". The punishment doesn't fit the "crime", and it's difficult, if not impossible, for the human, or occult, or ethereal mind to accept that sometimes events so painful happen for no reason.

It's imperative, then, for the dismantling of his disfunctional belief system, that he confronts the truth: there is very little inherently Evil within himself. And that moment occurs when a desperate Crowley talks to God Herself (Themselves? I'm not sure if the Almighty uses they/them or she/her, sorry) and admits that the only wrong thing he did was asking questions. From then on, he slowly becomes able to face his own spark of goodness, to admit it in his own Self-image.

In conclusion: while it makes sense that the book characters had their moment of acknowledgement in the middle of the action, as it's a truth they already knew from the beginning and, since they were about to face Consequences anyway, they might as well voice it aloud, it is just as apt for the TV characters to say it at the very end of the story, because for them it's a starting point to the rest of their existences: they finally fully know who they are and what they want, and they will start the rest of the journey with that knowledge.

A letter to my followers:

     First of all - Thank you. Thank you so much for having followed my art account and leaving wonderful comments and sending sweet messages. Every single note and comment praising my art is cherished. You guys are so incredibly supportive - I love all of you!

     That said, I’m sure many of you are aware I haven’t posted anything on my art blog in a few months. When Tumblr began the mass-censoring of innocent content, I declared that this was the final straw and that I would no longer be using Tumblr to post my art.

This is still true.

     I do not plan to come back to Tumblr as a platform for my art... But I wanted to take some time to address the messages I have been receiving since I left, as well as explain why I feel the need to stay off of Tumblr. Please think of this as a Q/A post.

“If you really plan to stay off of Tumblr, why didn’t you delete your art blog?”

Because I don’t want anyone else to use my domain name. UdonArt is the brand name that I chose for myself, and I don’t want it to be used by someone else in case someone looks for me here. I want them to see the links to my active media sites. 

“There are other artists posting on here, and their stuff is showing in the tags! Won’t you consider coming back?”

This may be true for those artists. However it is important to me to include links to my other social media in my art posts, and as of right now Tumblr still auto-censors posts in the tags with links attached. Some of you may have seen my posts ranting about Tumblr’s broken tag system in the past. I have had problems getting my posts to show in the tags for years - long before the mass-censoring began. I researched all the possible reasons that my art wasn’t showing up in the tags and followed all the advice. I even wrote a letter to the support staff asking for help - they responded with the same list of things that I’d explicitly stated I’d already tried... Then they closed the ticket as if it was fixed. Tumblr is fundamentally broken and inconsistent in many ways. 

“You said you moved to Pillowfort, but you almost never post on there.”

Correct. There’s a few reasons why... Pillowfort is still a fledgling website and as such it does not have the same capacity for image file size or number of images you can put in a single post. As a result, a lot of my art literally can’t be posted on that website because 1) The files are too big, or 2) It’s a comic that has more than 3 panels (you can only post 3 images in one post). 

Going off of this, I currently don’t have a desktop website that I can comfortably call home for my art. But if I find one in the future, I’ll be sure to let you guys on here know about it. 

“You’re really active on Instagram, but I don’t have/want Instagram because it’s too easy for people to steal your art on there.”

It’s true - reposters are all over Instagram. But the fact of the matter is, my art was being stolen and reposted onto Instagram long before I even made an account on there. Now that I’ve built a presence on there, more people are recognizing my work as mine - in fact, people alert me when they see my work reposted without credit. I have also started watermarking my work, which helps. 

Tumblr’s system of reblogging is great because it keeps the op as the source, but as I said earlier... this site is broken in so many other ways. I’ll be lucky if people even see my work at all! 

For those of you who might say that’s not true, I have the numbers to back it up:

I started this art blog at the exact same time as my art Instagram. It’s been a little over a year since then, and here’s the facts: My art Instagram got 3 times the number of followers as my art Tumblr. A post on my Instagram was consistently getting 6 to 10 times the number of notes as the exact same art post on my Tumblr. 

I repeat: Tumblr is broken.

On the topic of Instagram, some of you have said you don’t like it because it’s too small for you to look at my art on your phones. You can view my Instagram on your computer as well. Just go to Instagram’s website and search for me - you’ll be able to see all my stuff!

Every single like, reblog, comment, and message is cherished. The ONLY thing that made it hard for me to leave Tumblr was all of you! I’m trying to grow myself as a brand, and exposure is important. And while our community was lovely, it really wasn’t growing. All of your encouraging comments about my art are so so appreciated, and I would never take those for granted. But it’s frustrating as an artist to post your art knowing that it won’t reach nearly the number of people that it should. At the end of the day, maybe it is selfish... I need a place to vent so I’ll do it here

TWs in the tags

So I have a friend, who we’ll call F1 because I’m absolutely uncreative, and a few other friends (F2, F3), plus someone I still hold a grudge against (P1) and my ex (EX). As well as two victims (V1, V2)

I used to use discord very frequently, but up until my chromebook updated to Version 100, the site lags like hell. (I use, and have used, the website since 2018 when I got the chromebook) More on this

Now I just browse Tumblr and Twitter, and I occasionally check up on Discord. And from what I’ve seen, F1 has no restraint from bullying the shit out of people but cant say or complain their issues directly to the person.

V1 is in a fandom that F1 and I mutually dislike, but I have no aggressive hatred for everyone who is ever in the fandom, because I used to be in the fandom. V1 has a character in the fandom that is their comfort character, I have no problem with this, but to F1, V1 is a nazi because of it.

V2 is someone in a server who has a high WPM (word per minute) and is a friend of F2. This has so far been sort of resolved, but I’ve seen how much attitude and obvious dislike F1 directs towards V2. I have no grudge against them either, but F1 drags me in whenever they decide to go and mass bully this one person. It’s a witch hunt I don’t want to be apart of.

You see, I dont usually hold grudges, especially if the person has done literally nothing wrong. But if F1 doesn’t like talking about V1 or V2 I wont ever bring it up.

However

P1, they are homophobic and transphobic and has said is outwardly. I’m pansexual, in a happy relationship, I’m also transgender, and they hate me for it. They have gone out of their way to say that they don’t like Pride Month because they “don’t get anything out of it” or “it’s not like christmas”. This is completely fucked up in my opinion. I’ve stopped talking to them, they’re stopped talking to me. 

P1 has become almost a trigger for me, memories of the shit they’ve said and stuff they’ve purposefully done to me to get me angry or crying surface whenever F1 brings them up or sends screenshots. 

I have told F1 the issues, I have asked them to at the least censor them, don’t send screenshots of P1 and theirs conversations. But do they listen? No, they don’t. 

I listen to their triggers, I respect their dislikes, etc. They don’t respect anything that triggers me though. For example; Bugs. I hate bugs, they make me nauseous. But they and their friend (F3) purposefully mentions or sends pictures of bugs to me, and I personally don’t understand it.

I have very very few triggers, but they purposefully fuck around with them. F1 has every single trigger you can ever list, and I don’t know where they come from. Sometimes I think they just put up with me for god knows why, they don’t like Polysexuals and are so obviously poly(phobic?) and just down right mean to them. 

Again; I have no issues with poly people, as long as all partners are comfortable in the relationship. But F1 says its all cheating, it’s just cheating with extra steps, it’s cheating cheating cheating. 

I’m getting tired of it, I’m getting tired of all of this.

And to add onto all of the stress of my moral clash, my ex ends up texting me bragging abt their boyfriend. And it hurts, we were so close and they tossed our relationship because they weren’t good enough for me.

I tried to get them to stay, I tried to tell them that they were good enough for me, that they were perfect. They still left, and for months it rolled around in my head, it still does.

I’ve considered coming out as aro/ace, to be completely honest I just don’t find any romantic or sexual attraction anymore. Not with anyone. I’m fine with being in a relationship, but in the way that the relationship is like this exceptional person that I like (but not heavily romantically or sexually). But I don’t know how to tell this to my S/O. 

I fear that this may destroy our relationship, and we’ve been together for so long (5-6 year relationship). 

I have a horrid fear of losing people that are close to me, that’s why it hurts so much for me to lose friends, or people that I was with.

im like so confused because me trying to go on the proper anti skye parkin tag and your posts get on it. its a genuine confused state of mind like, cool this person likes skye but i don't and i purpose am searching for people who also don't. have you figure out a way to get them not in the anti tag? /gen

Okay, that is...distinctly weird. And that should not be happening. I have no idea what may have caused that, I can only guess. The Tumblr search system is held together with paperclips and string. It's basically three smaller search engines on top of each other's shoulders in a trench coat. So my guess is that my posts came up because they mention Skye at all? I think I'm one of the people who has, on average, more posts about her than other blogs. Like she's a character for whom I wouldn't be surprised if my Ask Responses make up a high percentage of the tag.

That could be why, but that still seems like it isn't enough...y'know what, I've probably referenced Skye Antis in those posts, and words like "Anti-Skye" or "Skye-Anti" got picked up in the filter. I mean, that shouldn't be happening, if you ask me. They shouldn't go into the Tag unless I specifically mark them for it. Sorry you had to see all of that, I'd imagine that was frustrating. Still, I'm afraid I don't really know what to do about that short of being careful not to mention Skye-Antis in future posts about her? Which does feel a bit like being censored, but it's not your fault anymore than it is mine. I suppose I can go through my post history and try to edit older posts to remove references to the Antis, but that would take forever, and again, this search engine is nothing special, so I'd likely miss several of them.

I hate that this is the best advice I can offer, but, if you dislike Skye, maybe you can get around this by blocking the neutral tag? Just, like, "Skye Parkin" minus the quotes. Because that should filter out mine.

He’s a minor himself but that does NOT excuse him from literally sexually assaulting other minors and putting them in danger within multiple group chats.

He sexually assaults other minors:

It’s been my personal experience of being with him in group chats that many times he has just been asked to stop talking nsfw/kink because he’s a minor or it just made people/other minors uncomfortable. However, most of the time, he either refused or said he’d stop... only to continue. That’s all I’ve experienced. This obviously isn’t enough to warrant a callout post, however...

HE HAS RECENTLY WENT SO FAR AS TO MASTURBATE WHILE ON CALL WITH A MINOR (15) WHO WAS TOO FUCKING SCARED TO TELL HIM TO STOP.

I’ve been given permission by the person he assaulted to say who they are: it was @t4ilgate he assaulted.

It started off with someone messaging me about it:

Note that @/harmacysts aka @fckhand (now @toroidion) fakes being a system in order to get out of most of the shit he starts. Ie. “oh my other alter did that, not me, so I can’t take responsibility for my actions!”

I later got proof of his sexual assault and harassment on a tumblr user by the URL of @t4ilgate (again, permission was given to make their url public):

JUST BECAUSE THIS PERSON DIDNT SAY NO AND FELT PRESSURED INTO IT, DOESNT MEAN ITS OK. THIS WAS FORCED UPON THEM. THEY LITERALLY SAY THAT THEY DIDNT SAY NO BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO FUCKING SCARED TO SPEAK UP.

He later tried to defend them not speaking up as them “giving consent”:

“I’m genuinely trying to get better” YOU WOULDNT FORCE NSFW/KINKS AND YOURSELF ONTO OTHER MINORS IF YOU ACTUALLY WERE.

And here it is CONFIRMED that they were pressured and scared/forced into this shit:

BADGERING SOMEONE UNTIL THEY GIVE IN IS NOT CONSENT. YOU ARE A FUCKING SEXUAL ASSAULTER AND YOU’VE POTENTIALLY TRAUMATIZED A MINOR FOR YOUR OWN SEXUAL GRATIFICATION.

And here’s him being asked to leave, saying he’s “so sorry” for sexually assaulting someone, (note: the person telling him to leave says that he’s done this to MULTIPLE PEOPLE SO HE IS A REPEATED OFFENDER AND DANGER):

As you can see, him asking “are you sure you want me to leave [after sexually assaulting a member of your chat]” outright shows that he’s not even considerate of how others feel LET ALONE THE PERSON HE ASSAULTED. He asks after sexually assaulting someone if they really want him to leave. Which, no shit asshole who WOULDNT want you to leave.

As a trauma survivor myself, this utterly disgusts me that this person @/harmacysts aka @fckhand (now @38) who is also the owner of @/ctnet would go so far as to WILLINGLY TRAUMATIZE ANOTHER MINOR FOR SEXUAL GRATIFICATION.

That’s cocsa even if it’s not physical or in-person, it’s still a form of sexual assault and harassment and I feel so fucking bad for the person (people?) he’s sexually harassed.

Him making nsfw blogs to literally stalk and harass other minors sexually and to talk about them sexually is fucking creepy. He was asked to stop multiple times but DID NOT EVER STOP. This is harassment, this is cocsa, and this is disgusting.

Nothing is outwardly nsfw but his ex is clearly very VERY uncomfortable and tries to literally escape the situations he puts them in MULTIPLE TIMES to the point where they feel SCARED of him.

There were also a few other instances of him forcing nsfw/kink onto people:

He has posted pictures of himself wearing a collar in a group chat he used to be in. This made a lot of people very uncomfortable as he’s a minor so they had to delete the pic he sent. During the time he was wearing it/sent the pic, he kept talking about how “age regressed” he was and then later on called his age regression “pet regression” (possible fetishization of age regression and trauma?)

After being called out about it, instead of apologizing and trying to make things better, he deleted most of the shit he sent and ran from the situation and left the group chat, unable to take people telling him to stop posting nsfw things.

Most of it was deleted including the picture he posted, but here is where he sent it:

He’s made EVERYONE both minors and adults uncomfortable. He forces nsfw/kink shit onto minors. He forces it onto adults too. No matter how much people ask him to stop, he doesn’t.

He’s caused multiple minors harm and has even triggered quite a few of them into panic attacks with his blatant sexual harassment.

I can’t stress it enough that even though he’s a minor himself, THIS IS NOT OK --- LET ALONE THE FACT THAT HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED ANOTHER MINOR!!

however, despite harmacysts/fckhand’s claims, he actually HAS NOT changed and continues to sexually harass and perhaps even groom other minors:

I'm going to be roleplaying with someone and they want to do a mother/son relationship, like not in the usual way. Like, what is the ACTUAL relationship between Gabrielle and Lestat? What is it really? I want to do a thread, but I don't want to trigger anyone or make it look all grim and incestuous. And I sincerely apologize if I've offended you by asking the question. I just dunno.

I am a little wary that this is a bait set out by those who see things in RP/fiction as “promoting” something in real life. A bait set to invite the kind of anti-shippers who are looking for a way to tear me down regardless of how I respond, when all I ever want to promote is:

The 3 Laws of Fandom.

(And I’ll quote a relevant piece of it from @ozhawkauthor, but please read the whole post):

“Much (though not all) fandom is about shipping. There are as many possible ships as there are fans, maybe more. You may have an OTP (One True Pairing), you may have a NOTP, that pairing that makes you want to barf at the very thought of its existence.

I want to make it very clear that I’m answering this as someone who supports exploring dark themes and taboo topics in fiction/RP. As long as you are not violating real living person’s rights, or invading any real living person’s space*, then you are doing nothing wrong. I’ve been blocked. I try to tag for things that can be triggering/upsetting to others, but I will not self-censor to appease everyone, so I absolutely support ppl unfollowing/blocking me if what I post makes them uncomfortable.

*Posting your fic/RP with the appropriate warning tags is a form of respecting others’ space and rights. If they don’t like your writing, they can block you, too. Their dashboard is their responsibility.

Re: Concern about triggering anyone, I’ll repeat myself, it is everyone’s responsibility to curate their own fandom experience and as long as you are tagging and putting content under cuts, it is their responsibility to protect themselves. If they are incapable of that, then they should ask a trusted person to monitor their internet use. 

People are triggered by many things, not just taboo and darker themed writing. This person’s triggers are Jello, Popsicles, Soup Broth, please read it! And to quote from that post, “a lot of ‘activists’ on tumblr aren’t looking to actually help anyone or make anything better: they’re sadists cruising for new victims.”

TL; DR: Anon, do what you and your partner are comfortable doing.** If RPing it as a ship squicks you both out, don’t do it. If Rping it as a ship is exciting to you both and you want to explore that taboo, go for it! Just be sure to tag it with the right warnings, and add cuts so that ppl will be protected from content they may not want to see. You can also RP privately however you like, there is no rule that says RP must be done publicly. 

**If your RP partner is pressuring you to RP something you are uncomfortable with, then I would suggest not RPing that with them, and similarly, if you are pressuring your RP partner to RP something they are uncomfortable with, I would suggest not pressuring them into it.

Is there a “usual way” to RP? If you’re suggesting in the ship way, it is something I’m sure exists.

Ppl RP with canon in mind, or without it.

That is a question with a ton of landmines, so I’m not going to say that they are definitely a ship or definitely not, it’s up to the individual reader/RPer to decide based on their reading of canon, or diverge from canon and write the characters however they see fit. This kind of exploration is one of many ways to engage with the characters and I see nothing wrong with canon-compliant or not canon-compliant writing, either way.

Personally, I can see both sides of the argument.

It’s easy to not ship them, so I don’t really need to provide further canon evidence, they are, biologically, mother and son! There’s nothing more to add to that.

A) He becomes her maker, which changes their relationship to him being more of the “parent.” 

- During the initial phase of Lestat turning Gabrielle in TVL, as he’s taking her life, he says she’s no longer his mother (to be fair, this is the kind of intimacy a vampire feels when feeding on anyone, but still, worth mentioning):

Myknowledge dimmed and flickered and there was no mother anymore,no petty need and petty terror; she was simply who she was. She wasGabrielle.

- Then, once she’s turned, she insists on being called by her name instead of “Mother,” so some take that as proof that she doesn’t see herself as being his mother anymore, in the mortal sense of the word. 

B) The act of making a vampire is extremely intimate, it has been compared to childbirth. It’s the most intimate act a vampire can share with anyone. I believe in fanon that it creates a physiological bond between maker and fledgling, so one could extrapolate to say that the act itself could create a ship. 

Note: In most maker/fledgling relationships, there is some assumption that turning the fledgling is done to bind maker and fledgling as a ship; essentially making the fledgling into a companion for the maker and the maker into a companion for the fledgling. In this case, Lestat turned Gabrielle in order to save her life, not knowing if he would even survive the act, so I don’t think this was a factor here, neither of them necessarily intending to be in a relationship together, but the physiological bond discussed above would still be a possibility.

Also worth mentioning is that he asks for her consent, as he had not been asked for consent himself, and the question is very clear:

No words again, just the silent thrust of it, and the question, more immense than could ever be put into words, Do you want to come with me now? DO YOU WANT TO COME WITH ME INTO THIS NOW? I hide nothing from you, not my ignorance, not my fear, not the simple terror that if I try I might fail. I do not even know if it is mine to give more than once, or what is the price of giving it, but I will risk this for you, and we will discover it together, whatever the mystery and the terror, just as I’ve discovered alone all else. With her wholebeing she said Yes.

^This could be construed as him wanting her for a companion and her agreeing to it. 

C) LET’S TALK ABOUT SEX. This is a point of debate for many fans, whether the Ricean vampires can have penetrative sex. In my opinion, in canon they cannot, and while penetrative sex is NOT A REQUIREMENT to a relationship (there are relationships where there is no penetrative sex and they are no less valid than those which do have it, in my opinion), the incestuous aspect of a Lestat/Gabrielle ship is alot less squicky for me knowing that they aren’t able to literally bone in the mortal way. Some would argue that the bloodsharing is more intimate than penetrative sex, and that’s fine, but still, being unable to literally bone is just so much less squicky, in my opinion. But ppl made fanart of essentially that and it was still very funny, to me! 

Call it what you will, but the first bloodkiss shared in canon is between Lestat and Gabrielle on the night she is turned.

^^^ALL THAT SAID, I wouldn’t shoot anyone down who ships it, they are both adult fictional characters. One could argue that there is some canon evidence to support it, but canon evidence is unnecessary. 

Again, Anon, do what you and your partner are comfortable doing. If RPing it as a ship squicks you both out, don’t do it. If Rping it as a ship is exciting to you both and you want to explore that taboo, go for it! Aho-Girl - First Impression Anime about stupid people are usually an even mix of funny and cringey. You laugh at their mistakes while shrivelling up on the inside from secondhand embarrassment. But you know what? Aho Girl is NOT one of those anime. IT'S WORSE. I wasn't even enjoying her idiocy after a few minutes; I was not only cringing, I wanted to fucking drop kick her and end the episode. Her poor childhood friend deserves better. I can't watch this entire anime. I'll get high blood pressure.

Ballroom e Youkoso - First Impression BeY was one of the most hyped anime of the season. The manga is very popular, and I actually read 4 volumes before the anime started airing! I'm not in love with BeY, but I do think the anime will be fun and intense to watch, if it's anything like the manga. The dance moves and competitions are very fast-paced, and it'll be very cool to learn about ballroom dancing. There's a lot more to it than just romantic, sexy movement! I think BeY does a great job explaining the technical aspects of the sport, and I can't wait to see it all animated! I'll also be promoting this anime a bit extra, since YoI's awful fanbase is attempting to tear it down for being--and I quote--"aggressively het," among other things. (The Tumblr drama is INSANE.)

I wasn't very impressed with this episode. I was expecting something similar to Demi-chan wa Kataritai except with even more demi-humans, but this first episode really fell flat for me. There wasn't much good music, the voice acting felt very bland, and the art wasn't very good. It is interesting to see all the different types of students, but I just...can't seem to care much about them? Something about the show just lacks charm, so I don't think I'll even watch the next episode.

Dive!! - First Impression I wasn't tooo impressed with episode 1. I'm pretty selective about which Yuki Kaji roles I like, and this isn't one of them. But as long as I can learn some technical stuff about diving--and maaaaybe get a little bit of eye candy as well--I'll be happy! Usually these kinds of conflicts happen later in a series once we're already attached to the characters, but I'm hoping that the boys' endeavor to save their club will give us some insight into their personalities. Episode 2 was definitely more promising, so I look forward to seeing how Tomoki improves!

Enmusubi no Youko-chan - First Impression UGH. One of the WORST pilot episodes of the season. I checked out the anime because of the romance tag, but the characters were insufferable, the voice acting was pretty bad, and the plot was just stupid. And the whole "arranged marriage because girls are useless" trope is SO overdone. That's really all I have to say about this one. Not watching anymore.

Isekai Shokudou - First Impression The first two episodes were pretty cute. I was still on the fence after ep 1, but ep 2 pretty much sold me on the anime! I really like the main chef (Junichi Suwabe <3) and the girl who joined as a waitress. It was interesting to hear about the discrimination she faced, and I look forward to seeing if she will be able to regain her confidence by serving customers who are just as odd as she is. I also love seeing the variety of customers who visit, and of course, the food looks delicious!!

Jikan no Shihaisha - First Impression Based on what I saw on the forums, people weren't too crazy about episode 1? But I liked it! I like the two main characters, Victor and Wu. The first episode has already established what they do and why they do it, and I appreciate having that information in the first episode. I also loved the plot twist at the end of the episode; it really got me thinking! As for Koyuki, I thought her struggle with death was very valid. My only complaint is--who just leaves their precious violin on a bench and crosses the street?! You'd never catch me doing that to my violin! And then, who runs across the street without looking both ways?!?! Basically, my complaint is that the actual death scene was pretty stupid. But Koyuki's desire to bring her brother back to life, even if it hurt her in the process, was very valid. Obviously, there are more characters we have yet to meet. There's Mina Putin, who I'm guessing is Wu's sister. And according to MAL, there's also Blaze, Ice Radar, and Snake. I'm pretty excited to meet all of them, since I already like Wu and Victor! They're pretty amusing characters and they have a great dynamic, despite their sad pasts. I hope they can get their revenge against the Horologue that took their mother and cursed Victor!

Kakegurui - First Impression WOW. Of all the season anime I watched, Kakegurui gave off the best impression so far. Episode 1 & 2 were intense and exciting! I loved the soundtrack, the art was awesome, and I especially enjoyed the grotesque facial expressions. (They remind me of Psycho Pass!) In addition, I'm not a big Saori Hayami fan in general, but I was blown away by her voice acting. She did such a great job capturing that insanity that Yumeko flaunts, and I can't wait to see her performance in future episodes!! As for the actual plot, I'm curious to know who exactly Yumeko is. The girl with the blue lipstick clearly recognized her. In addition, the blue lipstick girl seemed to have some kind of quasi-lesbian tie with Yumeko in the OP, so I want to know if they have some kind of connection? And finally, I can't WAIT to meet all the other conniving bitches at this school and watch Yumeko take them all down!! >:D

Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun - First Impression Keppeki Danshi's pilot episode was the most disappointing for me. I may have mentioned in an earlier post that this anime was one of my most anticipated seasonal shows. I expected a fun sports anime with a quirky hero, but instead I got something...kind of in-between. This anime isn't taking the route of an intense sports anime, nor is it taking the route of a pure comedy anime. It yoyos back and forth between the two without really doing a good job at either genre. I didn't enjoy the games, I didn't like any of the characters (minus the obvious comic relief abs guy), and I especially disliked the forced character development Aoyama received at the end of the episode. The scene I'm referring to is when the manager/coach explained how much Aoyama must care about soccer because he was cleaning the soccer balls. I just don't see it at all, and I'm not sure if I'll even watch the next episode.

Knight's & Magic - First Impression I loved this first episode! I try to sample all the decent-looking mecha anime these days, since a lot of people are biased against the genre. I gotta say, I really enjoyed the first two episodes. The three main characters are so much fun, and Ernesti in particular is very interesting! Of course, I'd like to get a better explanation of how he was reincarnated into this magical world, but so far this seems like a pretty light-hearted fun mecha/action anime. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and we can always expect Ernesti to figure out a way to beat the odds. So far Knight's & Magic is one of the highlights of the season so far! <3

Konbini Kareshi - First Impression ...A below average, standard, cliche-as-fuck shoujo anime. I admit that I watched two episodes--mostly for the pretty girls--but I really dislike Towa (the blondie guy). He literally said that when girls say "no," they mean "more." And let me interrupt my anime post to say that NO MEANS NO. Doesn't matter the gender or romantic preference. NO MEANS NO. Anyway, the girls in this series feel very bland so far. And the romance between Towa and Mami feels very forced. Mami clearly dislikes the way Towa acts towards her--and he's not even her type!!--but I already know the show is going to try to convince me that 1) Mami was just embarrassed when Towa called her cute because she also thinks he's hot, and 2) Mami just avoided talking to Towa because other girls would get jealous or something. I'm calling it right now, and it's bullshit. I'm still watching right now though. I'm a hypocrite.

Made in Abyss - First Impression Episode 1 was pretty nice, but I'm getting nervous. I posted about Made in Abyss on Tumblr, and someone responded to my post by saying that the anime would most likely have to censor some of the gore from the manga. In addition, another post side-eyed the scene where Riko said that getting strung up naked was traumatizing to a young girl. Basically, I get the idea that there will be much more traumatizing events. I've also heard that the manga covers some uncomfortable, discourse-worthy topics. Honestly, I can handle a fair amount of suffering, but one of the things I won't really be able to stomach from Made in Abyss is rape. I don't know if that's a possibility, but hopefully the gore stays away from rape or sexual assault. :( (If anyone does know if that is something that will happen, please let me know! I'd at least like to be mentally prepared!) And this is just my prediction, but Nat (the boy Riko was with) is listed as a supporting character rather than a main one. If you all remember, Manato from Hai to Gensou no Grimgar was also listed as a supporting character, which clearly indicated he was going to die. I expect Nat to die as well too. (Please don't send me any explicit spoilers though!) Long story short: I'm scared of what is going to happen to these kids.

Nana Maru San Batsu - First Impression Ironically, the first two episodes of this anime have been more exciting than the debut of Dive!! and Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun. Even though this anime is about taking quizzes, I truly still classify it as a sports anime. It's about a competitive club, and it requires training and fast reflexes, which makes it sporty enough for me! I had no idea that the quiz takers had to anticipate the question material based on the syllables, and it's been really interesting so far to learn about the nuances of quiz taking! I also love that Shiki gets to participate in a high-energy club, even though he's the type of student who typically wouldn't get to do something like that. My only grievances so far are 1) the panty scene in episode 1 (but the rest of the episode was good enough to overlook it), and 2) Mari's voice actress is clearly VERY inexperienced. She lacks inflection and enthusiasm, and Mari is a pretty dynamic character. I'm all for supporting budding voice actors, but I still feel that Umika Kawashima wasn't the right choice for Mari. She needs more practice using more inflection. Luckily I'm still really liking the anime, but Mari's voice stands out to me often as just not emoting enough.

New Game!! - First Impression A pretty good first episode. I will say right off the bat that I wasn't happy with all the panty/butt fanservice. Can't we just have an anime about female programmers making a game? But aside from that, I liked this episode! The idea that Aoba could be the leade character designer is super exciting, and I can't wait to see what kinds of characters she creates! I'm excited for this season, but I remember how slice-of-lifey and fanservicey s1 got towards the end, so I really hope that doesn't happen this time.

Princess Principal - First Impression A pretty impressive first episode! With these kinds of "cute girls killing people" anime, you can never be too sure until the first episode airs whether the anime will take the dark route or the ultra cute route, and so far this anime seems to be going more for the dark route! Maybe not as dark as MahoIku, for example, but the first episode clearly wasn't trying to be moe at all. I appreciate that. So much... ;_; I really like the characters so far, and I was pretty surprised by the ending! I was impressed by how hard-headed all the spies are, and I Ioved watching them in action. Overall this was one of the strongest debuts of the scene as well, and I'm definitely looking forward to future episodes! ((Maybe this anime won't disappoint me the way Joker Game did :))))) ))

Shoukoku no Altair - First Impression ...This is the one anime that I just can't remember much about from the first episode. It was pretty unremarkable to me. People seem to like the manga, but so far Shoukoku no Altair just reminds me too much of Arslan Senki, except more boring. I'm not going to quit just yet though! I still want to find out if Mahmut will convince that other kingdom that they were framed!

Vatican Kiseki Chousakan - First Impression ...WOW. You know what, this is the dark horse of the season for me. I was not expecting this anime to be so interesting or exciting. I don't know what the anime community is saying about this anime--removing myself from that community has done wonders for my mental health--but I certainly did not expect ANYTHING good from this anime. I don't think I even bothered to put it in my season preview, because it was right at the end and the summary left me entirely underwhelmed. But here I am, singing Vatican Kiseki Chousakan's praises left and right! I can imagine that one issue people might have with the anime thus far is the very strong roots it has in Catholocism. However, as someone who grew up in a Christian home, I'm very familiar and comfortable with all the Catholic references. If anything, I'm glad to see religion discussed in an anime without being the butt of a joke. However, while I can understand people getting put off by all the religion, I think the mystery from episode 1 is genuinely interested. I'd really like to get to the bottom of it, and I'm fairly certain I will continue watching this anime!

Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou - First Impression The first episode of Youkai Apartment genuinely wasn't too bad, but it was just...kinda boring? I didn't care for any of the characters, and something about the art style was just horribly average. I don't plan on watching anymore.

Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e - First Impression This episode was actually not too bad. The colors were pretty (albeit a little odd), and the twist at the end was unexpected. Obviously I don't really like the main character--a lot of people don't from what I've seen--but the premise was pretty cool. It kinda reminded me of Danganronpa, but I'm confused about why the genres are "comedy" and "romance." This anime could easily turn into a drama/psychological anime, so why the comedy tag? If the show ends up being really generic and light-hearted I will definitely drop it, but I'm hoping it'll take a "Lord of the Flies" route! :D
