i'm not usually a fan of the headcanons people have for what jobs the characters will have post-canon because it always just feels like taking one defining character trait and directly translating it over to what they will do for money for the rest of their life. i feel this with anthy especially, it's always "she takes care of plants, she must become a florist" or "she likes animals, she must become a vet" or "cooking is important to her arc, she will be a cook/baker/whatever" and it's just . idk i guess people do sometimes make their hobbies into a professional career and that is cool, but the idea that if you like something then that has to become The Thing You Do is just unappealing to me. and uncreative in this case.

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.

most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.

it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Π��μπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.

and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).

i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.

grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.

like did the same person or group of people say all those things, or could those actually be separate people with differing beliefs whom you are conflating in order to better construct a narrative such as: society hates us more nowadays than they used to. or, these people will say this and then say that, they are so hypocritical/don’t realize they are proving themselves wrong!!

there are so so many people out there. groups of bigots that have one hateful view in common will also have many views that make them different from, even incompatible with, each other. other people’s age, backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences will result in their thought process being so different from yours in ways you cannot realize! “how can they think this and believe it?” because they don’t have the same mental processes of verification as you. because it wasn’t framed that way to them when they were introduced to it. because they don’t know the people you do or experience the things you have, and surprise, you don’t know theirs!! because they may have a fundamentally different way of understanding the world!

if you can find them, or whenever you come across them, watch documentaries or read accounts and Q&As/AMAs of people who, say, escaped cults, or gave up extremely hateful belief systems. note how deeply they had to relearn how to understand the world around them, on a shockingly basic level.

look at their families and communities, or better yet, think of your own: does every individual have the same exact beliefs as each other? or does it only seem like they do, and if so, why is that? when they have doubts or questions, are they open about them? is that celebrated, encouraged, discouraged, or met with active hostility?

how do all of these things contribute to a narrative of group beliefs and belief trends? how do they encourage us to assume this narrative as real, and/or become less likely to have actual (verifiable) conversations with someone else about what we believe? what effects might come from having this conversation in the format of public posts or tweets that address both everybody and nobody at the same time, instead of person-to-person discussion? who really benefits from this?

i literally don’t even have all the answers. sometimes noxious or harmful beliefs do pop up and gain traction and it is worth talking about. but i think. it is a helpful habit when you see one single tweet and the claim “look where society has come,” to ask stuff like this. is this the current state of society (vague, feels unchangeable like the weather)? or is this a fucked up thing someone said that you are trying to dissect to prevent it being taken at face value (clear, attributable to individuals with individual beliefs, opens more direct conversation)?
