One of the things that I LOVE about Shadows Blinding and marks it as one of my favourite fics ever, is the relationship between Sakumo and Kakashi.

Lots of spoilers (obviously)

In most fics, Kakashi’s feelings towards Sakumo aren’t really explored in a complex way. Mostly they go as far as him missing his father, we see his grief and loneliness deepening with each lose of a loved one over the years, until as an adult he heals and grows to understand his father’s decision and forgiving him. Which is completely okay! I love those fics, I love the progress as we see Kakashi healing over time. But most that I’ve seen don’t usually dwell into Sakumo’s suicide that much and the heavy impact it would have on a child at that age, that would later follow them to adulthood. Choosing instead to focus on the impact either team Minato or team 7 had on his life (which, fair, it is A LOT, but you get my point).

In Pesto’s (author) interpretation, things go a bit differently: Kakashi does miss his father, but at the same time he still deeply resents him for what he did, just like he did when he was a kid and trying to not be like his father. Except he hasn’t exactly grown out of this bitterness. For scarring him for life and leaving him alone at such a young age; for sending him to what’s essentially a cult, leaving him trapped with a family he’s not familiar with; for leaving such a deep mark, that even if he tries to escape him and the clan, they’re in every little part of his life. Such as his most signature quality, his mask, only existing because Kakashi reminded Sakumo of his brother. He hates all of this.

This Kakashi never healed from what happened, so caught up in all the deaths happening around him that he never really had time to even process it. He doesn’t even allow himself to miss his father because of all this resentment, and that’s not something that just goes away. This is why I love his relationship with Kosuke, the way Kakashi wishes he’d allowed himself to miss his father despite what he did like Kosuke does. (OH AND THAT SCENE THEY HAD AT THE END. KOSUKE MISSING KAKASHI IN SPITE OF THAT HE DID, LIKE HE MISSES HIS FATHER 😭😭😭😭😭 OUGHH IT’S SO SADD ❤️‍🩹🥀⛓️🚬🐺)

That sense of hate is engraved in him, and it is amplified by the fact that Sakumo giving him that seal essentially made him loose everything he’s known and loved once again. His whole world is destroyed, the people he loved have forgotten about him (also they are dead) (and let’s not even mention Obito). All this time he’s had his team as a source of light at the end of the tunnel, something to fight for. But he’s lost that, and with his clan that’s basically a cult and that wrinkly bitch Nana running around ruining everything, he really has nowhere to go. That one split-second decision, even if done in good faith, ruined his life.

YOOO THAT’S WHY THE SEQUEL’S GONNA BE FIREE 🔥 🔥🔥🔥 Kakashi expecting to come back to a wasteland and being prepared to start digging graves for his dead friends (everyone bro) and instead finding an alternate-timeline Sakumo. We’re getting that deeply awkward and uncomfortable father-son bonding YEAHH 💪💪

Oh and don’t even get me started on this new timeline bro. How baby Ino appearing in the epilogue implies that this is at a point in time shortly after what would’ve been the Kyubi attack (we don’t know how Kannabi went so idk if it even happened) Rin and Obito would be around 14, 16 max. And Minato and Kushina would be around 22-24. Kakashi here is like 30, he is NOT getting his team back. And that’s without counting that with Kakashi dying by birth on this universe, there would be another kid in his place. Knowing that no other kid their age was jounin at the time, they might’ve not even been assigned for the Kannabi Bridge mission or at least done it with Minato, which already elevates their chances of survival.

He might not even get to meet team 7 personally. They’re babies rn and he’s a complete stranger to the village, a stranger on Kage level might I add (I don’t think it’s too far fetched to say that, he’s VERY powerful now, and he did become the sixth hokage without this power-up so 🤷‍♂️). They’re NOT letting him near the babies bro ❌😿

He’s alone with his father (whom he kind of hates and doesn’t know) in a world that doesn’t know him AT ALL. We have all the time in the world for group therapy, Kakashi’s gonna be demanding ANSWERS. Or maybe he’ll say “fuck this” and become a kind-of-missing-nin-but-not-really-bc-he’s-not-from-THIS-Konoha that stalks the village to make sure his loved ones don’t die this time. Yeah, I could see that happening tbh.

Aoi: Why must I go out of my way to tell you anything?

Aoi: Are you sure you're the one who should be saying that?

Uta: Sigh. I didn't even know he was so sensitive about his tails. Owner was smiling, but he was seething on the inside... But he still didn't even break a sweat.

Uta: Damn... I'm so pissed! I bet he was going easy on me, too.

Madoka: It was beautiful to watch, with all those flower petals flying around. The fact that they were poisonous creeps me out, though...

Hanabusa: I told you that I would observe the matches, but I'm going to fight in the fourth one. You're probably best suited to go against Onibi.

Hanabusa: Extinguishing spirit flames is your specialty. Make sure to win.

Aoi: ...Don't worry, sir. Kyubi-no-Kitsune may have been a formidable yokai, but Onibi is relatively low class...

Onibi: That's mean! Are you talking smack about me!?

Aoi: .....! Where did he come from!?

Onibi: I'm pretty strong, y'know? After all, I'm a superstar in the human world, and I've even been on TV!

Karasutengu: When you do, it'll all be over! Your troubles will disappear. You won't have to fear that human or any of the katanashu ever again!

Shikamaru was really about to shit the bed when he watched Shizune rise up, I’m fucking slfmdkkakwndmzkakalkdmdmxms 🤣🤣🤣

I’m over the moon about all this screen time Shikaku is getting (not to say it’s a LOT but considering we went probably 200+ episodes straight not seeing hide nor tail of him yeah, I’m pretty damn happy) and I also love how pleased he is with Naruto for defeating Pain. He doesn’t know how or why things turned out the way they did but he chose to put his trust in the boy just because his son believes in him and it paid off in a way I don’t think even he was expecting. Dead people coming back to life? No one could’ve ever anticipated that and given his long history of battle - both in the third war and in his regular duties as a shinobi - I bet he was already resigned to the major loss of life the invasion had no doubt incurred so this came as a huge relief for him. If Shikaku didn’t genuinely believe in Naruto before this then he certainly does now.

And that’s fucking big. That’s powerful, considering how everyone else shunned him and treated him like a pariah. Shikaku certainly has his own grudges against the Kyubi, I’m sure. I’d be willing to bet good money on that. It was his generation that had to fight it after all and many people lost their lives in the attack, plenty of them probably his friends and most if not all his comrades. But rather than hold Naruto in contempt, even when the boy was a child, he still ... didn’t really condemn him. He didn’t exactly go out of his way to help him (which seems a bit out of character considering the sort of man he appears to be) but I’m sure he had his reasoning. If anything, based on Yoshino’s reaction when Shikamaru brought up Naruto over breakfast, I’m inclined to believe that Shikaku didn’t step in on Naruto’s behalf for his wife’s sake. He’s clearly the sort of guy who puts his family above all else and I think that no matter how much his heart went out to Naruto, he’d never do anything that might jeopardize their wellbeing. But honestly Shikaku seems like one of the ONLY people who actually saw Naruto as a person right from the get go and was able to distinguish him from the Kyubi long before he ever became an asset to the village (which is kind of bullshit, what a hollow accomplishment) and you can really see his coolheaded impartiality reflected in how Shikamaru then in turn approached Naruto.

Basically what I’m saying is that this is juicy stuff and if Kishimoto wasn’t a hack he’d have explored the Nara clan and especially the head family at length for that sweet sweet vindication of Naruto’s treatment in the village. Like, we could’ve had some really interesting sociopolitical commentary, delicious lore into how the clans function and some world building that I personally think Naruto as a series desperately needed. Imo the Nara pose a really interesting angle in the Konoha political climate as they’re clearly a powerful family who could have easily run everything from the shadows (haha, get it?) and yet they ... were really just content with what they had. The forest and the deer. That’s it. They didn’t want fame or glory or spotlight attention. They really just wanted to exist. And I think getting some insight into how they worked towards that goal while not losing foothold in the comings and goings of the village would’ve just made for some really exciting plot points that could’ve easily been woven throughout the overarching story.

It would’ve been nice to see more of ANY of the clans, not just the Nara, but I am biased. I stan a whole goddamn family smh.

Writer Nonnie and one more yo: Shiro gets Alien X, Keith gets Hunan Torch, Hunk is... IDK The Thing(Fantastic 4), Pidge is either Poison Ivy Lite or Groot, Lance can be that Chaos blob thing from Sonic(even though it's "concentrated energy" and not water despite it's appearance). OH! And Allura's can be like the Anodites(also from Ben 10)! Maybe change the color but besides that one line about "pink is the color of the fallen" or whatever pffft IDK. Ah, or did you already have ideas?

I was thinking a bit more along the lines of Naruto’s True Kyubi form—all glowy and badass, but they’re still themselves; and a bit more “barely contained inner power”.

So, having Hunk glow like he has a magma core and a touch of stoneskin over his human skin (because Earth as a substance moreso than the philosophical element is essentially a Terrestrial Planet. So both the “classic terrakinesis” and bending actual magma along with super strength.)

While Keith is the pure chaos of a flame in all its colors, but mostly the carbon-orange. (Heh. Keith with blue and white flames. Or occationally violet and green. But the varried flames and focused or spread flames would definitely require...well...Patience Yields Focus.) (Oh...and everchanging flametongue patterns on his skin. And if Shiro gets wings, then Keith has a tongue of flame streaking after him like a cloak or comet tail. Especially when in speedster mode.)

Pidge...would be nuts. Barkskin that’s similar to Hunk’s stoneskin, an insane healfactor, and even the “nice” plants wage chemical warfare. So...a toxin queen with both close contact, sap covered weapons, and airborn particulates. And you know how leaves glow that almost golden-green when the sun shines through a canopy? Yep, that’s her glowup. (Less controling plants, and more she IS the plant.)

Lance’s glowy eyes are that blinding clear when the sun hits water or ice just right, and ever-changing wavelike patterns on his skin glowing that same light, only a bit more subsued. And of course, hydrokinesis with liquid water, ice, and water vapor. (He can make an iceskin, but it takes him a bit to get it to not melt or shatter almost immediately. But once he gets it...freezeburn on contact. “I’m so hot that I’m cool!” [everybody groans])

Anodite does sound pretty perfect for Allura, both from an alchemic sense, and leaning into her LionGoddess status (and being the White Paladin of Light (albeit thematically dawn-pink)). But, probably not quite so featureless, her hair just does that cool waving-in-water thing, and probably sprouts wings of pure light in addition to her alchemy and making alchemic constructs. And of course her eyes, marks, and hair all glow...naturally xD

Mr Barton appeared all the way back in the first game—he told you to talk to Lucas in the main story quest "Kyubi the bully" but I think that's his only role there, so he wasn't all that memorable. Mr Barton appears and does things more frequently in later games tho—and no, I don't think he ever appeared in the anime, Mr Johnson's (homeroom teacher) the only one. It's a pity honestly, I love the yokai watch NPCs and it sucks that they're reduced to side characters or never turn up in the anime.

Kinda surprising that he gained a lot of popularity though despite not appearing that often. I’ll be sure to look out for him when I’m going through the playthroughs, thanks for informing me of all this!

However, Itachi instead informs senior Konoha officials, as he and Hiruzen Saurtobi, the Third Hokage, attempt to sort matters out otherwise. But Danzō Shimura's actions resulted in Itachi taking credit for the death of Shisui Uchiwa, a member of the Uchiha clan against the revolt, moving away from his family. He has distanced himself from those close to him, including his own family, although his father knows he did not commit the act. However, Itachi took a dark turn when Danzō ordered Itachi to slaughter his entire clan, promising to save his little brother Sasuke Uchiwa's life. Having no other recourse, meeting Tobi who was helping him, Itachi proceeded to assassinate his entire clan. Only his parents were left and they accepted their fate, as Itachi reluctantly killed them on their orders. When Sasuke arrives, eager to do penance for his crime, Itachi uses his genjutsu to make Sasuke see a version of the massacre that places his brother as a heartless murderer with the desire to win the Mangekyo Sharingan . With the image implanted, Itachi tells Sasuke to live in hate and become strong for the day they fight to the death. 💀 Although Sasuke attempted to kill him when his Sharingan activated, Itachi places his brother in a temporary coma before seeing Hiruzen and the other high places. While asking Hiruzen to ensure his brother's safety, Itachi threatens Danzō to honor his promise or he would expose the conspiracy before letting Konoha escape . However, still loyal to his village, Itachi joins the Akatsuki to keep an eye on the organization and the threat it poses. Unfortunately, in addition to the progressive blindness side effect of his Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi contracted a deadly disease that he managed to contain so Sasuke could kill him before she did. Despite the trauma he suffered from killing his own family, Itachi did not blame those among Konoha's rulers who entrusted him with this mission. Although he did not trust Danzō on a personal level, he knew that Danzō only had the best interests of the village at heart.. But Itachi, in part because of the necessity of his mission to join Akatsuki, changed a lot after the massacre, rarely, if ever, showing any emotion. He became more prone to shows of force and allowed certain violent habits from his partner, Kisame, under the pretext that it furthered Akatsuki's goals. 🦈 Itachi couldn't and wouldn't completely change his pacifist habits, and he would shun confrontation or hold Kisame back if the likelihood of collateral damage got too high for him or others. Even though Kisame sometimes protested, he considered Itachi a good friend and listened to his instructions. Itachi also had a decent partnership with his former partner Jūzō, showing him respect and, after his death,

Konoha's Infiltration Arc

When news of Hiruzen's death reached him, Itachi feared Danzō would take advantage of it. Itachi took advantage of a mission with his partner Kisame Hoshigaki to capture Kyubi's current Jinchuuriki, Naruto Uzumaki, as an excuse to show that he is still alive and that he still poses a threat to Danzō. Itachi is confronted by Kurenai and Asuma alongside Kisame and Kurenai has entered the fight, but Itachi is quickly revealed to be the best user of Genjutsu and effortlessly fends off the illusion of Konoha's ninja. Even when Kakashi arrived, Itachi was superior and crushed all three of them without fighting at full strength and ultimately left Kakashi helpless in the face of Tsukuyomi . However, Itachi's appearance reached Sasuke as he ran to Naruto's location and confronted Itachi as he was about to capture Naruto. Seeing that Sasuke still wasn't strong enough despite his Chidori, Itachi effortlessly beats him and brutally nails him to the wall. He motivates him to return to the path he had placed him on before knocking him out with Tsukiyomi. Soon after, Kisame and Itachi were forced to leave because Jiraiya arrived . Itachi later reaches the Akatsuki reunion following Sasuke's departure from Konoha.

Capture de Shukaku

While Shukaku is captured, Itachi is tasked with delaying Team Kakashi so that they cannot find their lair, and uses one of Sasori's spies to fight them from a distance. He subjects Naruto to a genjutsu by raising his finger, though he eventually comes out and kills the Sleeping Agent with his new giant rasengan. 🌌 When news of Sasuke's victory over Orochimaru reaches him after helping Kisame 🦈 capture the Four-Tailed Demon Roshi's jinchuriki, fearing his brother's urge, Itachi decides to put his plan into action as the disease begins to win over. By sending one of his clones to Naruto as he searches for Sasuke, Itachi questions the boy's resolve, even with the possible threat Sasuke would pose to the Konoha. Impressed by Naruto's response, Itachi has a crow with Shisui's eye implanted into the boy's body before leaving.

Itachi vs Sasuke

At this point, another Itachi clone appears in front of Sasuke to tell him that their final battle will take place in the Uchiha Hideout. Asking Kisame not to intervene, Itachi waits for Sasuke to arrive. After a genjutsu exchange and a conversation about Madara Uchiwa , Itachi reveals his failing eyesight and the only way to restore it is to take Sasuke's eyes to obtain an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan . Once the conflict becomes more physical, using several of the abilities he gained from absorbing Orochimaru, Sasuke manages to use his Kirin ability to deal significant damage to his brother. However, only his Akatsuki cloak having been burnt, Itachi reveals his true secret weapon, the Mangekyo Sharingan's ultimate ability: the Susanoo . At this point, Sasuke has lost much of his chakra as Orochimaru reappears through his secret Eight-Headed Serpent Jutsu and attempts to steal Sasuke's body. However, Itachi has his Susanoo beheaded the seven serpent heads before impaling the last one Orochimaru came out of. From there, Itachi has Orochimaru sealed with his Susanoo, removing the cursed seal from Sasuke's body. How Itachi died?

However, the fight took a long time for Itachi, as the now helpless Sasuke found himself against a wall as he approached him, appearing to want to reach Sasuke's eyes. But instead, he touched Sasuke's forehead and smiled at him before saying, " Sorry, Sasuke ... but it's over " before submitting to his illness and dying. Despite his good intentions, Itachi's hopes for Sasuke are dashed when Tobi later tells Sasuke the truth about Itachi's reasons for betraying the Uchiha clan. However, the crow that Itachi placed in Naruto was going to counter this event by the time Sasuke obtained the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

The Fourth Great Ninja War

Itachi was revived during the Fourth Great Shinobi War by Kabuto who used the forbidden soul reincarnation jutsu to convince Tobi to join in the war he declared. After parting ways with Kakuzu, Itachi carries Nagato as they discuss how they were brought to their eyes and are nothing more than weapons. The last two cross Naruto and Killer B. 🐙 Itachi is surprised that the first can now use the power of Kurama. While forced to fight against his will, Itachi is horrified when he learns of Sasuke's actions after his death while begging Naruto not to reveal the truth behind the Uchiha clan slaughter for the honor of his clan. . When Itachi activated his Mangekyo Sharingan, he brought out the crow he had placed inside Naruto and implanted Konoha's protective command to override Kabuto's control over him. Itachi helps Naruto and Killer bee defeat Nagato before destroying the crow, so that Shisui's eye does not fall into the enemy's hands. Telling Naruto to entrust Sasuke to him, Itachi tracks down Kabuto to force him to release the Reanimation Jutsu. However, Itachi finds himself joined by Sasuke and ends up promising to tell him the whole truth before they fight Kabuto together. The two brothers are vastly outmatched until Itachi uses Izanamito trap Kabuto in his own mind. With their enemy willing, over Sasuke's objections, Itachi explains that he has nothing left, while stating that it was an honor to protect their home one last time. After using his genjutsu to force Kabuto to release the Reanimation Jutsu, seeing his brother still adamant about the destruction of Konoha, Itachi uses his sharingan to show Sasuke all of his memories. Explaining to Sasuke that things would have been different if he had never lied to him, Itachi tells him that he doesn't need to be forgiven but that he will always love Sasuke, no matter what path he takes. will choose. After a moving speech, Itachi bids farewell and returns to the afterlife. 👼🏻

Rock Lee: The Twists of a Budding Ninja

Itachi appeared in the chibi spin-off of Rock Lee  : The Adventures of a Budding Ninja in  Episode 38, along with Kisame, arriving at the hideout. When Lee and Tenten saw him, they realized that the group they met was none other than Akatsuki himself, despite their stupidity. Itachi, seeing him, asked his other teammates who told him that Lee is a newbie recruited by Zetsu. Like Kisame 🦈 he doesn't trust Lee either, so he uses his Sharingan and places Lee under a genjutsu, who is defeated by Tenten so he can continue to disguise himself. Once released from the genjutsu, Lee then saw Itachi covered in crows droppings all over his body. Later, after Deidara unintentionally starts a brawl within the group, Itachi, unlike everyone else, tries to stop them from fighting, but fails completely. Later, after Tobi admitted the truth, Itachi and the rest of Akatsuki beat Deidara for not saying Lee was a spy. Itachi makes an appearance in Episode 46, where Jiraiya classifies him as an occasional pervert, alongside Sasuke and Yamato. In Episode 51, Itachi is briefly mentioned by his brother, Sasuke, who teams up with Akatsuki to destroy Konoha. 💥 One could suggest thatItachi might have died before the episode .

Appearance of Itachi Uchiha

Itachi is a tall 21-year-old young man with long dark hair tied in a ponytail that was usually hidden by the high collar of his black akatsuki coat, onyx eyes, and pale skin. 👦🏻 One of her most identifiable features are the lines running from her eyes to her cheeks and her almost constantly active Sharingan.

Itachi's motivations

After he is butchered his clan, Itachi has become virtually emotionless and unfriendly. A man perfectly in control of his emotions, Itachi only expressed surprise during battle if his opponent was stronger or caught him off guard, and even this could be interpreted as a deliberate act to deceive his ally Kisame . Unlike most of Akatsuki's other members, Itachi didn't display the more typical aspects of a villain like arrogance. He treated his fellow Akatsuki members with the same respect. In fact, he goes so far as to respect and compliment his opponents for their skills and abilities. He is able to back up his claims because he has the power, not because he is He does not like combat sport and does not indulge in violent bloodshed, preferring to hasten to end his fighting as quickly as possible. Even in such a state, Itachi can still display vestiges of his kindness, expressing his distaste for Orochimaru's actions . All of his supposedly nefarious acts were so many tricks to encourage Sasuke to kill him while he cared deeply for his younger brother. Facing Naruto, he sees hope in the young ninja and entrusts him with the task of pulling his brother out of the vengeful darkness he has embraced for all these years. Indeed, Itachi (although emotionless from the outside) was unhappy, sad, discouraged, and in pain from within.

Itachi: a ninja prodigy

A talented and very powerful ninja, Itachi was a prodigy, his intelligence and abilities blossoming from a young age. He had already graduated and became a Jonin by the age of twelve and obtained the Sharingan by the age of seven. He quickly rose to Anbu's rank and even became captain of an Anbu squad . Itachi's prowess was recognized by Orochimaru as superior, Itachi effortlessly crushing the Sannin. He was also perfectly capable of killing Sasuke if he wanted to despite his illness, with Sasuke still unable to beat Itachi despite the latter's resistance.

Chakra and Itachi power

As a Uchiha, Itachi's chakra was naturally strong, but his chakra stores became very low, exacerbated by his illness. This kept him from participating in long clashes and limited his use of the Mangekyo Sharingan techniques to three times a day before he needed a significant rest, at which point even his Sharingan deactivated. To compensate for this limitation somewhat, Itachi had very refined control of the chakras, able to perform his techniques with one-handed seals. Although rarely getting involved in such fights, Itachi was very good at taijutsu, enough to easily defeat three members of the Konoha Military Police at the age of eleven. He had impressive speed and reflexes, especially with the movements of his hands. He felt like he could perform his techniques without seals, even skilled Sharingan users found it difficult to keep up with him. His speed allowed him to attack first in a fight , then immediately move to where his opponent was retreating before he even realized he was gone, giving him no chance to launch a counter. attack.

Itachi's Sharingan

Naruto Episode 1 (Part 1)

Episode Review:

We start Naruto like how much most series do with exposition. Oh, how we love exposition. I am not going to rant too much on this as most series do start with exposition. Avatar the Last Air bender opening Theme was a little over 40 seconds of exposition and it told us everything we need to know.

There are benders and there is an Avatar who can control all elements but he disappeared long ago when the world needed him most. There was a map of the world giving us understanding of how the world was bit. We understood there was war and Aanga is the Avatar and the adventure we are about to watch is him growing and becoming “the Avatar” and stopping the war. It is something that catches your interest right way.

My issue with Naruto’s exposition is well it kind of starts explaining the world then stops.

Like yo there is a demon he is destroying everything, this all happened twelve years ago, yo.

In the words of our “Narrator” he explains that the Kyuubi was “Crushing Mountains and creating tidal waves”

Before you think I am nitpicking this I am just going to point out. Konoha is nestled in the mountain I don’t remember ever seeing an ocean near Konoha. How is Kyuubi creating Tidal Waves? With the River? I did a little study on that and they are called tidal bore. So the Kyuubi is making imaginary tidal waves.

I will give Naruto credit as in the first episode it does look like the Kyuubi is attacking just a much of leaves in mountain but I blame it more on the budget than anything else. I know in later episodes it is drawn with him destroying the village. But I will point out I don’t feel anything as the of the plot so far and everything that was shown as not led me to feel much of anything.

I will acknowledge that they are throwing Kunia but look at the pose and the way he threw it is like he is throwing pokeballs and my favorite line at the moment. +

“Hold the Attack, Wait for the Fourth Hokage”

Thumb up Their Ass: 1 (This is what it sounds like. Whenever the main character, the village or an important character sits and does nothing because they are waiting for someone else to do it or an easy solution they get a count. This is going to be a high count I feel)

In the world of Naruto the Village Hidden in the Leaves   does what it does best in having their fingers up their ass. I will rant about this more in later episodes but as of now. Just sit with your fingers up your ass Konoha and wait for orders.

We continue the story on and see the fourth with a giant toad. We really don’t see the fourth just maybe that he has blond hair. And sacrificed his life and the words they use “A human body”

What?!  So not only did the Kage sacrifice himself but a human body as well. Not only that a baby. SPOLIER ALERT HE SACRFICED HIS OWN SON!!!!!!!!!!!! What if didn’t work out. Like demon was like this Jutsu is weak and breaks out. Then what? More Spoiler Alert we are a young readers just getting into Naruto. We have yet to learn who the Fourth Hokage is and that he is well Naruto’s father. The idea of putting a deadly demon inside a random child just seems cruel. No, this won’t get a Super Saiyan ranted about this enough.

We see the picture of the sacrificially lamb I mean baby Naruto.

Our next shot is of Naruto running around the village while trained…I repeat trained Ninja’s are chasing him. Keep in mind Naruto is not Ninja yet, he is not out smarting one ninja but four- five of them. They are just having a hard time getting him.

Naruto You Asshole: 1 (This is for every time your Naruto does something asshole like  )

It seems like Naruto the “Prankster” is vandalizing the president’s  the Hokages heads and just disrespecting the great leaders of the village.

First off Naruto wasn’t that creative.  I don’t get what point he is trying to make but when I first watched this I though Naruto just didn’t care and was just saying “F.U” to the village leaders. I mean he drew shit one of their faces. When I was little I used to draw a big pile of shit on people or things I hated. How wrong was I.

Any way Naruto decides to speak and I can’t help but love the words he elegantly tells the Ninja’s chasing him. They are “losers/wanna bes” and “they don’t have the guts to do what I did?”

Just leaving this here…not trying to prove a point or anything like that.

My question remains as to what? Vandalism? I don’t know Naruto, doing something doesn’t take guts but a lack of brain power. Is that the joke? Be an asshole, cause inconvenience to others by vandalisms. Because it missed the joke as a child and I am sure a lot of others did as well. What Naruto just did was wrong and disrespectful.

Naruto You Asshole: 2

We continue on and it is just me or does Naruto sound like an old lady? Well that is because he is voiced by an old lady Maile Flanagan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maile_Flanagan. It is kind of easy to tell the moment Naruto opens his mouth and talks.

We jump from the Ninja’s chasing Naruto to two ninja’s tattling to the Kage. Yes I am using tattling because seriously he is only twelve years old. Why the fuck are you guys having a hard time catching him. Plus it also sounds like they are just whining.

The phrase they use at 1:20 “Lord Hokage we have an emergency!” The great and powerful Hokage’s answer is, “I hope you are not bothering me with something trivia, and don’t tell me it is Naruto, again,” Of course these great ninja’s do answer in their whiniest voice possible. “It is Naruto….”

I am going to agree with the Hokage, god damn you whiny ninjas do you bother him for everything Naruto does. I mean yeah I agree vandalism is a criminal offence but we don’t go calling the FBI or even president for something like that.

Thumb up Their Ass: 3

This gets two counts one because they had to bother the leader of the village. I mean they probably would bother the Kage if he was shitter. Two because Naruto vandalized four huge faces before someone took notice that Naruto was doing something to the great stone faces. If they respected the stone faces so much why did it take so long for them to notice?

This wasn’t a five-minute art project you give to a kid. This must of took all morning or something as he had to jump from face to face with different color paint in hand.

But if you put 1:34-1:36 on a loop it looks like they are dancing. I would say to the background music but really are dancing to techno.

We jump back to the same five buildings once again.  And Naruto is jumping from building to building and two ninjas are chasing after him and of course shouting his name in the most dramatic way possible.

We then have a confusing scene:

he jumps down okay we see that. And notice he has nothing in his hand just the paint bucket. 

here we see him jumping to the left of the screen. He is running. He clearly isn’t in that spot no more.

We get a second of this same spot. Meaning the Ninja’s are good distance away but they could see him and stuff

here they are they jump to the left of the screen to chase after Naruto. 

Then we get this. What is this? What is going on here?

Bam Naruto!!! My first question is how? How did he out smart a couple of ninja’s chasing after him? Two, where did the paint bucket go and where did that invisibility cloak come from. Did he steal it from Harry Potter? Harry is going to need to need that back you know fighting the dark lord and all. I can already sense a few of you are coming up with answers. No, he can’t use a clone jutsu because it was stated not even five minutes in this episode it is his worse jutsu, he can’t do it all. Don’t answer it is a cartoon, I don’t care if it is cartoon logic still has to work.

“I was the turkey”: 3

This gets the count because it is Kishi thinking he is being cleaver and going bam plot twist. He tricked the Ninja’s chasing him. He also tricked you isn’t that cleaver. Again Kishi if you want a cleaver plot twist here.

Black hole of Doom: 3

I don’t think I need to point out as to why this gets a count but I will. It doesn’t make sense plus it never gets explained how Naruto managed to jump from away from the screen to appearing in the middle. But seriously I want to know more about the “invisibility cloak” like is there mass production of them but it only works at a certain spot. How did he even get his hands on it?

Naruto reveals that he was the turkey and laughs. Or what is supposed to be a laugh and says, “That was too easy,”

You know that was too easy, I would I hate see what the village would be like during a crises situation.

-Whistles as she puts the picture away-

Dolphin man stands behind Naruto and I guess surprises him and Naruto does this weird sound effect but also defeats the laws of gravity and kind of just floats in the air for five seconds and it follows with cartoon sound effects. And Iruka is just watching while one of Newton’s law is being tested. And follows Naruto as he falls to the ground and Naruto manages to twist his body to face Iruka and so he could land on his butt.

This scene is memorizing I had to watch it a few times just to make sure what I heard and watched was correct. It was just so off putting.

Naruto ask in an accusing voice “Where did you come from Iruka-sensei? What are you doing here?”  Well you see Naruto when two people really love one another…. But really Iruka is a sensei (teacher) and really what is he doing outside of the classroom.

Iruka points, “No, what are you doing here? Your supposed to be in class,” as he points an accusing finger. No, really Iruka what are you doing here? Don’ t you have a class to teach. I don’t know much about the school in the Narutoverse but I always assumed Iruka was the one in charge of Naruto’s class so really what is he doing?  I guess we could say he chased Naruto during his lunch break.

We cut to our next scene of the classroom Let’s see who else failed exam all the characters.

Starting from the bottom left to right, we have bitchy one Ino, the one always eating because that is the joke Choji, cliché female Hinata, dog boy Kiba, the “smart” one Shikamaru and the one everyone forgets Shino. Two important characters,  Sasugay Sasuke, Bella Swan Sakura, Can you guess which character is important…psst it is the one with colors.

We get great exposition

How Naruto “failed the graduation test, last time, and the time before that” and how “tomorrow how /he/ has another chance”

Show don’t tell: 1 (Naruto is never complete unless Kishi is telling us what is going on. Kishi doesn’t depend on his readers to find out or let the conversation flow naturally no. We need a big all exposition dump. After all we as his readers are as dumb as his character )

Um…excuse me Iruka do you see the class before you? They are all Naruto’s age. I don’t get how this school works. I wish I did but for now I will point it out. If Naruto failed his graduation test so did all this kids sitting in Iruka’s classroom.

Black hole of Doom: 4

A count just for the damn school system that ever makes sense; It just leaves the readers more confused. Seriously I still cannot make sense of the school.

Naruto is like…so whatever man. 2:25 This Irks dolphins man so much he makes a cartoon sound effect. Seriously what is with the cartoon sound effects? I normally associates these sounds with American cartoons, not something at will later show blood and you know what add breast to it too. He punishes everyone because even he is confused by the sound he made as well and now “everyone will review the transformation Jutsu”

There is the beautiful because you hear the children groan and we get this weird PowerPoint flip transition. Again it is so off putting.

But we get to my and Kishi’s favorite character of the series Sakura Haruno or as I well like to call her the Bella Swan of the Naruto world. I will explain as I continue on reviewing this series but take note. Sakura only pay attentions to the hot emo guy. Bella’s only focus on was on the hot emo boy.

Any way Bella says her name and transforms into Iruka. Iruka praises her. Bella the strong independent woman we know she is turns to Sasugay and brags. If this was another series I wouldn’t care but as this is Naruto and Sakura and I know Sakura’s ending to me this is basically saying. “I as a woman will acknowledge my accomplishment if my man approves,” you think I am exaggerating. Haha, no it comes again in the very same season where Sakura is praised by Kakashi for controlling her Chakra and bashes Sasuke and Naruto and Sakura’s reaction is to protect Sasugay.  But I will get to that but this does start a new count can anyone guess what it is?

Stupid Girl: 1 (Sings: Baby if I act like that maybe he will me back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR4yQFZK9YM Normal voice: This is based off P!nk’s song stupid girl. If anybody listened to the song it is basically talking about girls that have no dream or ambition but to act stupid and get guys number)

And another point here

You sexist, asshole: 1 (Kishi is sexist and I am going to prove to everyone every time he does something sexist with his female characters. “But their clothes aren’t falling off and the girls don’t show a lot of skin, so he can’t be sexist,” Wrong it is the action of the female characters that make Kishi sexist.)

Iruka calls “Sasuke Ue-chiha”  Sasuke Ue-chiha turns into Iruka not at all impressing Iruka as he just kind stared at Sasuke Ue-chiha saying “good.” I am going to take a random guess and Sasuke Ue-chiha is the cool emo boy that every girl wants to date.

I mean look at his slumped shoulders, and I don’t care expression and his hands in his pockets.  –Waves hand in front of her face- So cool, he is the bad boy every girl wishes to date no wonder why Bella Swan likes him and people ship them together. Hopefully he doesn’t try to kill her in later episodes.

I don’t know about you fangirls but that screams romance to me.

Iruka calls Naruto next and we get well just a couple of characters pissed off Naruto.

Shikamaru voices all our thoughts we have at the moment in of the show. Not even three minutes in, “Naruto, this a total waste of time,” why yes Shikamaru it is, I don’t know about you guys but I love it when shows are self-aware. Yes, everything about Naruto is a waste of time but we still do it anyway.  We get Ino giving us more exposition. “We always pay for your screw up,”

Naruto You Asshole: 3

No Naruto the trouble maker he is just answers with “Like I care” I have an issue with this as well. Again in the hands of another author I wouldn’t have a huge ass problem with the trouble maker who has a hard time making friends and screwing things over but, with Kishi it ends up being a problem for me. We are supposed to like Naruto and later on in this episode sympathize with this character who everyone one hates. The issue comes is Naruto is always fucking up and causing problems for his classmate and just being a huge dick about it. What Naruto does is play into people’s emotions, we don’t feel sorry for Naruto because we like him. We feel sorry Naruto because Naruto wants sympathy. There is no build up.

Naruto You Asshole:4            

Hand Holding: 1 (This should be pretty self-explanatory but I will explain it. Oh the Irony of this comment. Kishi has a tendency of holding his readers hands when we are watching/reading Naruto. He basically just in the end repeats what we already know into our head just to make sure we get the idea. This is different from Show don’t tell as hand holding is Kishi is walking with us in the story. Show don’t tell is Kishi just writing shit but not showing it.)

This gets a count because we already know Naruto is a screw up. I can hear some fans saying “But this establishes character for Shikamaru and Ino” . –Sigh- No it does not, you could basically replace these characters in this scene with dish soup and bucket, we would still get the point.

I forgot to add a point to this, because before Naruto was asshole to Iruka as well, which led to the punishment of the classroom.

Keep in mind, we are supposed to like this character. Just bear in mind we are supposed to like all these characters. This is going to be a long series.

Oh, by the way fans we are about three minutes in and we got the names of our “main characters” (I use the term lightly as most of you reading this know why) but you should forget about them because they don’t appear for another two episodes.

We meet our Dandere character, Hinata Hyuuga I dislike her too. I dislike her a lot, I dislike most of Kishi’s females. I wish they would have a personality of their own away from the lead males. But us vagina people we only think of love. And yes Kishi did say that not from his mouth but Kakashi’s you will see when I get to that episode. Stupid vagina people.

As Hinata wishes Naruto “to do his best” I can’t help but wonder about this guy

what his story he looks so happy while everyone looks pissed. Did his friend say something funny? I wish I could no more about him.

Anyway back to the story we expect Naruto be all series as he suddenly has blue light around him. (I know it is chakra but as a newbie watching this this wouldn’t know).We get Kishi’s version of fan service. Kishi is really stretching the bar to get his female fans, naked woman who really is a twelve-year-old boy, a love struck tween. 

Naruto turns in a sexy female with boobs, hips and curves, he/she whatever we call it at the time looks “sexy”. The sad part is his female form more personality than any of Kishi’s vagina people. -Rolls eyes- She is fan service for nine-year-old boys, he/she uses her body to get what she wants.

The creepy thing is Iruka gets turned on, aroused. I am going to remind everyone Naruto is a twelve-year-old boy.  It is obvious it is a jutsu and that it is Naruto as Naruto’s sexy form

He still has his damn face mark.  On another note for an artist who claims he can’t draw females and that is why Sakura looks the way she does he drew a fucking sexualized version of female Naruto not even five minutes in.  I know this is the anime and someone else probably drew the picture but I will mention this, this episode is a plot based off the first chapter and it is alike in a lot of ways including this seen.

Iruka has a nosebleed (cause that is normal) because clearly he doesn’t get enough action if he gets turned on by that. I am creeped out a bit I will remind everyone Naruto is a twelve-year-old boy turned into a naked female and Iruka got turned on.

Kishi has a fetish and I don’t want to know any more than that.

Naruto turns back to normal and Naruto is laughing because an adult male getting turned on by that is normal. No seriously it is normal, the hokage, turend on by it, Kakashi, Yamato other male characters. I really hope this Jutsu dies off and is never used for anything important and ruins the emotion of the last arc.

We pan out the longest still frame ever, of staring in front of the school. I could have made coffee in that time. It pans to the hokages faces and we see Naruto mumbling while cleaning the faces of the hokage how much it stinks.

Dolphin man is like “you aren’t leaving till you cleaning all the faces”

And Naruto is like, “So what it is not like anybody is waiting home for me,”

Show don’t tell: 2

This gets a count because Kishi is telling us Naruto doesn’t have a family. In case all of you missed it Naruto doesn’t have a family. No one is waiting for him he doesn’t have a family, I am surprised Kishi didn’t straight up tell us Naruto is an orphan. This could have been easily summarized in scene and showed more emotion to Naruto coming home to an empty house and having dinner by himself. It is a cliché yes but it isn’t like Kishi himself is very creative from the start and isn’t a bad cliché it shows us that Naruto doesn’t have a family. I need to rant about this, but I will rant about in chapter three.

World’s tiniest Violin:2

Just so you know you are too feel sorry for Naruto he doesn’t have a family. If it wasn’t clear enough he doesn’t have a family or anybody waiting for him. We see Iruka deep in thought or as deep in thought Naruto characters before inviting Naruto for some ramen ‘the good stuff’.

So I get the point of telling Naruto he has to clean the faces of the hokage’s faces. He “disrespected” the leaders. But to reward the child after the mistake by treating him for some ramen, seems counter protective.  Sure Naruto had to clean the faces of the hokage’s faces he just graffitied, that no one noticed till he hit the last face. But he will get rewarded with some ramen.

This of course excites Naruto who says what a great motivator this is. And cut the kage’s faces and finally we see the title card of episode. Four minutes in and thirty seconds and I am not sure why it took so long. Nothing of real importance happened in these four minutes.

Dororo – 11 – A Family Reunion

The two sons of Daigo may be meeting face to face for the very first time, but of course neither of them knows that, so their interactions don’t go too far beyond Dororo and Hyakkimaru’s usual dealings with people: kill a demon, collect a reward (and a handsome one at that). Hyakkimaru does, however, take an extra-long look at Tahoumaru’s soul: it’s “clean”, with no hints of red people get when they’ve killed another human.

Dororo and Hyakkimaru enter Daigo’s prosperous trading town and, after travelling around the sticks for so long, are positively overwhelmed by the sheer amount of sights, products, and activities. But someone spots them: a very disheveled woman who despite appearing like a lunatic to everyone around her actually has it exactly right: the “demon child” is alive.

While watching a play depicting Lord Daigo’s victory over the demons (ironic considering he actually struck a deal with them) Dororo spots Biwamaru, who sad to hear the news of what happened to Mio and the orphans. He’s there to check out what we know of as the Hall of Hell, where the Demons Daigo is believed to have defeated dwell.

Hyakkimaru overhears (now that he hears and all) rumors about the “curse of Banmon” being to blame for the lack of rain lately (little do the townsfolk know the reason is actually Hyakkimaru). Meanwhile, Hyougou and Mutsu report their encounter with a young lad with prosthetics and a small boy boasting that they’re high-level demon hunters. Needless to say, Daigo is concerned.

Dororo and Hyakkimaru pay a visit to the “Banmon”, the last survivng segment of a wall that was breached and destroyed by Daigo’s armies in his victory over Asakura. A young lad named Sukeroku is trapped on the wrong side of the border between the warring clans, and just wants to get back to his fam. He feeds Dororo and Hyakkimaru, so they agree to help him out.

Daigo informs his wife Nuinokata that their firstborn has most likely returned to their lands. He’s determined not to let anything, including him, spoil his prosperity. When Nuinokata voices her concerns that the two of them are going to properly pay for what they (really he) did to their son, Daigo dismisses her, making a remark about women “not knowing anything about politics.” Tahoumaru overhears everything, only increasing his curiosity.

Once the Asakura sentries call it a night, the site of the Banmon becomes a battlefield between Hyakkimaru and an ever-replenishing number of angry fox spirits, who eventually combine into one massive demon fox, or kyubi. He’s about to be overwhelmed when a volley of arrows hastens its retreat.

Just as Tahoumaru and his aides find the “crazy” woman in town, who is one of the midwives present for Hyakkimaru’s birth and knows what they did to him, Hyakkimaru is confronted by those who fired the arrows: the entourage of no less a person than Lord Kagemitsu Daigo himself.

For the first time since his birth, the firstborn and his father are finally face-to-face. I wonder if Tahoumaru will have something to say about what should be done with Hyakkimaru; considering what we’ve seen of him, it doesn’t seem like he’d hold his brother’s very existence against him considering what was done to him. But if he’s to adopt a sympathetic position regarding Hyakkimaru, he’ll be defying his lord father.

Rise and Fall Chapter 2

Ayame didn’t cope well with cabin fever. About noon, grey clouds had gathered outside and it was promising to rain. The grumpy Tanuki was clambering around the house, growling and flopping down at random points before getting up, kicking something -mostly a wall- and storming along. She’d been pacing for a couple hours and finally yowled. “I CAN’T TAKE IT ANY MORE! I AIN’T A PRISONER SO WHY MAKE ME ONE HUH?! WHAT’D I EVER DO ‘TA DESERVE THIS?!?” She shook her fist up at the ceiling angrily, then paused. “Waitasec.” A devious smirk crossed her face, pink eyes narrowing in glee as it dawned on her exactly how she could cross the stupid barrier that Riku set up without him being alerted that she had passed through it. The roof wasn’t shielded, and since they lived on a two-lot area, if she jumped far enough then she’d land in a nearby tree. All she had to do was make sure that she was back before dark and she could go party her tail off! So, rubbing her hands together and making sure AJ was still asleep and Panko was too busy watering the bonzai trees to notice anything, she made her daring escape. She slipped out onto the porch carefully and then expertly clambered up onto the roof. The tree was waving in the growing wind and was a further leap than one could expect but, steeling herself, Ayame attempted it. She ran on all fours and leaped with all her might and, sure enough she landed on the first branch. She clambered down the trunk on the other side of where the talisman was placed and she smirked. “Haha! Honestly Riku, you think you can outsmart-?” That was as far as she got before hands clasped around her and hoisted her up! ________ AJ woke up with a start when she heard the scream, and wobbled upwards. “AYAME!?” She shouted and rushed out of her room, almost tripping over Panko as he came running by her doorway! “Did you hear her?!” “Yes miss! Quickly, we must go and make sure she’s alright!” He gasped and the two ran outside, calling out their Tanuki housemate’s name repeatedly. That’s when AJ spied, outside of the barrier, an all-too familiar backpack. A tiny pink one with a black skull to be exact. “That’s Ayame’s. AYAME!” She yelled her name, AJ venturing close to the border of the barrier to try and see if she could see any other clues. “Ayame! If this is some stupid joke, come out right now, you’re scaring us!” There was nothing. “She’d never pull something like this, not this long.” The human realized and looked back at Panko. “I’m going outside.” “Lady AJ, please do not attempt such a thing! If Ayame was grabbed as soon as she crossed, then there might be Nobiagari or worse awaiting you to be lured out of safety.” Panko warned and AJ sighed. “You’re right. But, I have to do something!” She had no weapons and only enough combat training to allow her to defend herself from a single attacker. This wasn’t going to end well if she did cross and Panko was right. So, swallowing her pride, she reached out her hand and stuck it outside of the barrier, trying to alert Riku before drawing it back. “Okay, let’s see if this works!” ________________ Riku made sure his hood was fastened over his head and his hair was pinned back. This area of Kyoto wasn’t reputable. Many temples in this area were ill-kept, and this attracted all sorts of borderline-to-full-on Daku Yokai. Several species which his kind had done harm to or suppressed were violent types, and if they saw him… well, it was curtains to him. He walked through the marketplace-like area, and approached a small shoddy shop, and entered, shutting the door and locked it behind him with his tail. “Ahh, if it isn’t my favorite customer-!” “Stow it Koh. You almost had my mate killed.” He growled, piercing blue eyes locking onto the tall thin man. The Itachi Yokai looked like most of his kind in human form: lean, with slicked-back hair and as professionally yet cheaply dressed as a con man. That’s what they were famous for, being dishonorable tricksters yet with some coercion, could prove to have the dirt on almost anyone and anything. “Mate? I didn’t know you had a-!” He tried again and choked on his last word as Riku almost flew across the room and pinned him to the wall by his throat with a single hand. “You lied to me. That Yokai wasn’t the right species.” “I-! I had no idea-! I-I was only told it was a-! A Rokuro Kyubi, n-not what type it- it was!” “Who gave you this information-?” Before he could finish, he froze and dropped the weasel and lifted up his sleeve, exposing a glowing list of kanji on his arm and he snarled out a curse word. “We will continue this later. Expect my wrath to come soon.” He left Koh choking on the ground, teleporting to the barrier and stared into the eyes of a panicking AJ. “What happened?!” “Ayame’s gone.” She gasped out and immediately pointed at the pink backpack still sitting out there. Riku almost scoffed. “I should have known she’d worm her way out of this. Okay, let’s see what we have.” He stepped outside of the barrier, kneeling down and took a whiff. His tail fluffed up and he growled in his throat. “Kitsune.” “What’s a Kitsune?” AJ asked, staying back so she didn’t disturb any of the scents. “They are Fox Yokai, one of the five clans that once governed our species in place of the Emperor.” Panko briefly explained as Riku focused. “Sheesh, you guys really kept me out of the loop on politics.” “With you wishing to go home, it does not really concern you. Apologies for being blunt.” “No, I get it.” AJ sighed, and Riku looked away, down the street. “He went that way, towards the mountains. He took Ayame with him to his camp.” “Okay, wait. Are Kitsune a type of Daku Yokai?” “No actually.” Riku told AJ, stepping towards the house and she followed. “Kitsune are more like the gypsies of our culture, many are half-blooded from American skinwalkers that took on the forms of foxes. However, they’re known to go rogue and corrupt.” He stepped into his room, opening his drawer and tossed AJ a katana. “Keep it close. This is the last I have and it’s a family heirloom.” “Roger- wait. You’re taking me with you?” “You said that I wasn’t letting you have any chance to use your training. A Kitsune will not be too much trouble as long as I am there.” He explained, and AJ nodded. “I’ll go change real quick. Don’t leave without me.” _____________ It was close to three in the afternoon when the two made it into the mountains. It had began to drizzle, and the collective fear between the two was that Riku would lose the scent. But as luck would have it, there was a break in the trees. “It should be right-!” Riku began to say as he stepped out of the bushes but then froze. “Dammit.” AJ peered over his shoulder at the clearing, remnants of a recent camp being close. A river, swollen at it’s banks was rushing closeby. “You mean they left?” Riku kept sniffing and ventured out, AJ close behind him as she looked around. The rain started to come down heavier and the Neko-Mata cursed under his breath. The sky seemed to darken suddenly as the storm erupted into something more fierce, a flash of lightning illuminating their dimmed surroundings. Neither were expecting to see the Nobiagari approaching on all sides. The tall, black figures of their enemies, dozens of them were closing in around them! “Oh lord.” AJ whispered, grabbing her katana and pulled it out. “We’ve been tricked.” “AJ, stay close to me.” He ordered and the girl nodded. Riku let the blue flames appear in his hands, a bright glow in the dimness. Lightning flashed again as it began to rain harder, illuminating their surroundings. The Nobiagari were closing in quickly. The first one to get the closest, was the trigger. Riku and AJ attacked, charged and ready. Her green soul aura flashed and glowed, cutting down the Nobiagari faster than she could count. Her feet slid in the mucky earth, soaked badly by the torrents of rain. Both she and Riku were soaked, but they kept going, slaying all who stood in their way. They only seemed to keep coming, as if respawning somehow. This was their element, Riku realized to himself in horror. The darkness, the rain and low visibility made it easier for them to strike. They’d planned on luring them out here this whole time! He lost sight of AJ not a moment later. His shout of her name was dulled with the crack of lightning, and he saw her being surrounded, still slicing away and deflecting her attackers. But that wasn’t what startled him. Riku saw the river was rising rapidly, threatening to break it’s banks! They were luring her to a place where she couldn’t escape, so the moment she tired they could grab her! No. He wouldn’t let that happen. Riku roared her name and lunged, moving rapidly towards the group of Nobiagari surrounding his beloved… The boom of thunder above almost drowned out the other noise that caught his attention. AJ had been backed to the riverbank. She hadn’t tired yet, but that wasn’t the problem. It was the roaring wave of water ripping through the treeline upstream! AJ was right in the line of a flash flood! “BEHIND YOU!” He screamed in horror, unwillingly frozen in place by fear. His worst fear. “AJ LOOK OUT!” In a split second she looked up and let out a scream as the water reached her, knocking her off her feet and swept her into the current! “NO!” Riku ran towards the river, another flash letting him see her being carried away rapidly-! There was a hard blow to his head, and his world went dark. _________ AJ was coughing, struggling for air as she bobbed through the water. She couldn’t breathe… she kept being pulled under. She clawed for something, anything- there! The katana! She gripped the handle and fought against the current, stabbing it haphazardly into the water, trying to use it as an anchor. Finally she managed to plant it firmly into the side of the river and tried with all her strength to hold herself up, gasping for the precious air she needed. Lightning crackled above her head and she saw the outline of an incoming branch. AJ kept her grip, but reached out towards the object to try and pull it in. If she could get that, then maybe she had a chance of pulling herself out! Luck was not on her side. As she grabbed the branch, her grip on the katana slipped and she let out a scream of horror as she was dragged along again. She choked on the water but quickly used the branch as a flotation device. There had to be another way to escape the river! She heard the faint roar and her head shot up. “Oh no.” Was all she was able to gasp out. She was headed straight for a waterfall! AJ let out a primal scream as she was pulled over and fell… falling… falling… She felt her body hit the rocks below and bones crack. The air was forced out of her lungs and she inhaled water, but bobbed to the surface by some miracle and was pulled along. Here, the current was weaker, and she felt her body be pulled towards the bank. With the last ounce of her strength, she dragged herself with the sheer force of adrenaline up to safety, and collapsed, her legs still floating in the water. That was the last thing she felt before her throbbing head forced her to knock out. __________ AJ came partially to. She faintly heard the sound of crows, or ravens. She didn’t know which. The flapping of many wings and they had surrounded her. She couldn’t move anything, her body wasn’t responding. This was how she officially would die, eaten alive by a murder of hungry crows. Ha-ha, the irony. Not even a moment later did she hear an even bigger pair, far too big to be real and the crows scattered. She opened her eyes and through bleary vision made the outline of someone looming over her. AJ choked. “H-help… help…” She weakly begged, not able to say anything else. She just couldn’t. “Hush now.” A stranger’s voice murmured, male and calm. “I have ye. Be not afraid.” Before she passed out again, she felt her body be gathered in arms and wings flap, bringing her up higher and higher…
