I've been thinking about it, and there's only one thing I want to see on Critical Role the week after next (since we're getting the live show next Thursday).
I want to see Sam coming up to the table, props for the next ad read ready to go...only for Marisha to already be there, with her own props and whoever else from the cast that she's asked to help, maybe wearing the hot dog costume, all ready to do the ad read herself. And they stare at each other for a long moment, eyes narrowing as neither one of them is going to back down or give in.
Long story short, I want an ad read custody battle, Sam vs. Marisha.

heyyyyy lovely lovely tumblr user dainty, itās me again with a stiles req because I just canāt seem to be normal. it would be sooo awesome if you graced us with some jealous stilesā¦ I was listening to woman by harry styles and I was like ā¦ hmm I want a man to want me to look at him so bad he would kill another man over it.
OH AND I WANTED TO SAY your writing is the absolute perfect balance of powerful horny and pathetic horny and okay Iām done elaborating ilysm
powerful horny and pathetic horny are literally those two wolves in that picture that's like, inside you there are two wolves- and it's true, those are the two wolves inside of me (i wish stiles was inside of-)
i'm envisioning this as a best friends or at least close friends type of scenario. specifically because of the opening lines of the song, "Should we just search up romantic comedies on Netflix and see what we find?"
stiles, assisted by scott of course, has managed to crush every guy's hopes and dreams of being with you, throughout the years. and of course, it kind of crushes you're confidence a bit because you know you're pretty, but why won't anyone ask you out?
of course, stiles is always there to comfort you, tell you that they just don't deserve you. and you think it's bullshit, just a cliche cause he doesn't know what else to say. but in his eyes, it's nothing short of the truth. those guys truly don't deserve you, which is why they'll never have a shot. why he has guaranteed that they will never have a shot.
but once the werewolf stuff starts happening, things change within the social hierarchy of the school. and someone slips through stiles' brick wall he has so carefully constructed.
now, to appease my heart, this person happens to be the infamous issac lahey. yes, that's right, the former loser turned werewolf model who is holding nothing back anymore. issac's had a crush on you for years, and being a part of the lacrosse team means that he's heard a thing or two from the other guys about how stiles says that you just aren't interested in guys your age, or whatever excuse of the month the spaz has decided upon.
so, when stiles isn't practically glued to your side for the one class of the day the two of you don't share, issac starts enacting his plot to make you his. it's a tad bit cheesy, and throws you off at first, but how could you say no to such a pretty face? you guys slowly start hanging out, and of course, he's a nice guy.
but when scott catches of whiff of issac's scent lingering in your room one night, stiles is the first to hear about it. and god he is FUMING! how could you? how could he not have realized? why didn't you tell him? you tell him everything- why not this thing? did you know?
he's all too paranoid, but the anger and jealousy are winning. stiles isn't the type for outright confrontation, so you won't notice he's ignoring you for a few days. mainly because you're too tied up with issac, which only makes his blood boil hotter. but when you do realize, you feel almost guilty? and by the way, stiles won't even look at you, makes you feel like you are guilty. but guilty of what?
stiles knows that he's guilty. that what he's about to ask of you is unfair on every level, but so what? he can't stand to see you with another guy. of course he could ask you out himself, but he's just a silly little guy idk man.
if you want me to talk to you, you have to get rid of him.
a mix of confusion and fury graces your face. what? the? fuck? it's hot the way he says it, so possessive. so unlike him. but who was he to say some shit like that. still gawking at him, he continues, he is going to hurt you. and I'm warning you now, when he does i won't be there to pick up the pieces. it's me or him. I'm just doing this for your good. plus you're a smart girl, right? make the right choice here.
you tell him to fuck off, storming away with tears brimming your waterline. why couldn't he just be happy for you? later that night, you cry to scott about it all. he tries consoling you but ultimately sides with his best friend. which makes you feel even worse, cause you know who you'll pick. but how are you going to let issac down?
well, luckily scott had that problem handled a few hours later when he literally fights issac to defend your honor over some bullshit that the male had spoken. scott's right at your window after the fight, showing you the damage issac did and what he said about you. it's almost unbelievable, but scott's the most trustworthy person you know- so of course he wouldn't lie. right?
scott is on the phone with stiles after leaving your house, talking about how the plan worked and how he should expect you at his house any minute now. sure enough, the phone call ends with a doorbell ringing.
you're there, as promised, at stiles' doorstep practically falling into his open arms. he brings you inside, closing the door with his foot, and sitting you both down on the couch. with how close you are holding him, you're in his lap. and he can feel tears slowly soaking through his shirt. what's happened?
you're a blubbering mess, i'm sorry for making ignoring you. i should have never talked to him in the first place.
if you hadn't just cried before you said that, you wouldn't have missed the way stiles lips curled up for just a split second. he catches himself, opting to bring his hands to cup your face, bringing you to eye level, what happened?
this time the question is asked more firmly, and the grip he has on you brings you back down to reality. you tell him what scott told you, still crying a bit. who knew the new werewolf would be so cruel?
stiles knew. stiles always knew. and he makes sure you'll never forget it. i told you, but i know you never listen.
you're saying sorry like it's a prayer, and stiles takes it like he's god.
****
A/N: was this ooc? yes. but was it really? no. there's like a multiverse of stiles' in my head and slightly sadistic stiles decided he had to make his debut on this one. i didn't proofread this so if it sucks, I'm sorry <3

So I've decided to go ahead with watching the latest episode of the Flash. Spoilers below.
Blaine is such a fucking idiot. Wow. Like, that's how he's gonna break Caitlin's dead to the team? And has he considered, even once, that the version of Frost he brings back might not be the one he knew? Frost didn't meet him until after she split from Caitlin. The remnants of Frost in Caitlin - if there are any - may not have the first damn idea who Mark is. But what she will know? Is he killed her sister, that she sacrificed her life to save, in order to bring Frost back.
Oh wow, what a complete and utter moron, I hate Blaine so damn much.
Where's Hartley, I'm tired of the Snow plotline already.
Oh, there he is. Flirting with his boyfriend and they're adorable. Oooh, do Hartley and Roderick own this club? The flirting made it sound like they do. Or at least Hartley does. He and Roderick being adorable together is so great. This is everything I've wanted for those two since Roderick stopped being Sleeping Beauty in S6. (Gosh has it been that long?)
Pied Piper vs. the Fiddler - I do like the way their sound tech interacts and the fight, though short, is fun.
(No seriously can someone just stab Mark Blaine a few times. Whoops, he's dead, how terrible, let's forget about him immediately? Like, is he just being particularly awful in this episode or has what little tolerance I have for him eroded entirely after skipping most of S8?)
Anyway, Snow does not seem thrilled about Mark's plan. She's probably afraid to die and is too 'new' to life to be able to admit it. And I have to wonder if really she's just Caitlin with amnesia and Frost's powers?
Anyway, seriously, just fuck Blaine.
Thank goodness Hartley still knows where all the stuff in Caitlin's lab is. Or at least has a general idea, anyway. Though I'd like to think sometimes he just hung out with Caitlin for old times sake.
Oh no. Barry please do not make excuses for Blaine. I'm so tired of this guy. Though Barry being all cryptic on 'we have to go' is hilarious.
Chester - TECHNOBABLE
Iris follows that so much better than I did. She's so smart and awesome and let me just fangirl over her a bit.
Hartley muttering at, and cussing out, his gloves as he tries to repair them. Most relatable moment on this episode so far.
Snow certainly has Caitlin's desire to help people, worrying about Hartley clearly being hurt. And she realizes how worried about Roderick Hartley is. Listening to him worry about Roderick. Awww
But Snow makes a good point. Change is something you have to choose for yourself. Trying to force a change for someone else isn't going to work. *staring right at Blaine* But Hartley has already changed - while having Roderick back in his life may have made choosing to change easier, Hartley made that choice before Roderick was saved and thought there was no way to save Roderick. He made that choice when he went to save Barry from Godspeed. Everything after was just follow through.
Everyone fighting over who Snow should die to resurrect. Do any of them even hear themselves? How awful and, quite frankly, like bad guys they sound? She's her own person now and she deserves to live, even if the way she came into the world was awful.
>_<
Okay, so Iris' reasons for choosing Frost are kinda dumb. *sigh*
Snow loves nature. (Sky High anyone???) Snow is very sweet, but I do think they're spending too much time drawing out this plot line. That said I'm so glad that Cecile at least actually takes the time to ask Snow what she wants.
All this retconning with Thomas Snow. Seriously, none of that fits in the established Caitlin&Frost timeline. How much did the multiverse reboot change Caitlin and Frost's origins? But whatever, at least they finally decided it should be Snow's choice.
(No, really, what would make more sense is if Thomas had considered using a CRC type machine to get rid of Icicle but ultimately was too afraid Icicle would use it to kill him instead. Then that could have been a development that happened later when he locked himself away to try and find a 'cure' to Icicle. And a brain scan from Caitlin's childhood? What did they want to do, restore Caitlin to a twelve year old's mentality? Brains change over time. Oh wow, so much was not thought through in this retconning.)
Oh no! Roderick! Hartley, seriously, learn to ask for help when you need it? Lucky him, Barry came anyway and showed him what he needed to do to save Roderick.
Hartley - You figure it out, I'm busy. *grinning at Roderick because awwwwwww look he's so in love*
Snow picking the name Khione - I'm so glad she got to pick her own name.
That said, seriously. Who is gonna tell Cisco about all this? He's gonna be so pissed off.
Hartley destroying the CRC. Yes, finally, someone with some sense around here. Well, if we can't have Cisco and Caitlin friendship this season, I'm liking the Hartley and Khione friendship. Blaine threatening Hartley... is it bad I'm hoping something comes of that so Hartley can kick Mark Blaine's butt? Since clearly Hartley's the only one with any sense whatsoever.
Let's hope Hartley sticks around for more episodes. *finger crossed*
Iris, yes, make fun of Barry's dancing more please. Someone stop him. And Chester. Please. This is the kind of dancing Angel was terrified of dancing like on AtS.
Oooh, looks like Hartley will be in the next episode too. (checked out the trailer for ep 3) Guess I'll be checking in for that one too.
So it does seem like no one is properly upset or grieving over Caitlin or really mourning her which... is disappointing. Barry at least feels guilty over their last interaction but Blaine's just like 'let's kill her extra dead for Frost's sake'. Ah yes, what a wonderful person he was for Frost to date.
All the 'this is what Caitlin would want' going on just sounds like them handwaving over the fact that Caitlin was grieving and depressed, never got the help she needed for the multiple traumas and deaths of loved ones she endured, and she was not in any way, shape, or form thinking clearly when she tried to resurrect Frost. Her death was a terrible and preventable tragedy and it's like no one wants to look too hard or else they'll have to accept their culpability in failing one of their friends. But sacrificing Khione to resurrect Caitlin or Frost would have just been repeating Caitlin's mistakes so... it took them way too long to come to an answer that should have been obvious as the only ethical choice from the start.
Anyway, I want more Hartley and Roderick being cute together because they're now the cutest couple on the show. Sorry Barry and Iris, but you've been usurped by the cute and flirty duo. But then Barry and Iris were only the cutest couple on the show 'cause Cisco and Kamilla left, so... *shrug* (Grant and Candice do what they can with the show's writing, but 'babymoon'? They're not spinning that as romantic, there's just no way. But at least they're acknowledging that Iris should be pregnant sometime relatively soonish.)
(I did actually go back and watch Ep1 before this. And, um... it had some good parts. But I also skipped around a lot 'cause I got bored. It was not the best time loop episode i've ever seen. It was middling of the road as far as episodes went and reminded me more of the reasons why it took me so long to start shipping Barry/Iris on the show in the first place. Namely, did Iris ever actually choose Barry? Or did she, after Eddie died, let herself get pushed into a relationship that she didn't necessarily want because everyone was pushing Barry as her destiny? Not that she didn't clearly find happiness with Barry, but... well, this is one of the reasons why i say canon does them dirty. Barry/Iris has been hit and miss as a result and it's not a good sign that the final season started off with something that felt more like a miss than a hit.)
#kitkatt0430 watches#the flash#season 9 episode two#hear no evil#season 9 spoilers#so does it seem like blaine is being set up to be a villain later in the season?#'cause i've got that impression now#and i want hartley to kick his butt#once again team flash struggles to do the ethical thing because protagonist centered morality means they must always be right

Hi hellooooo and thank you <3 Putting my responses under the cut~
I remember seeing a post!! About Vivi's weapon! And for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere but you linked the post underneath the comic where he first met Ardbert!
Here you go! I posted it a bit earlier on tumblr, that's probably why.
Also here are Alisaie's weapons that don't have a name yet. Essentia is a name just for Vivi's spear, yes, but several people began referring to the whole concept by that name whoops. That's my mistake as a writer, I'll take it as a lesson in the original lore delivery.
Their duel looks awesome. It looks so Fluid. Idk how you did it bc it's a comic and not animated, I never know how comics do it actually, but it's always so impressive.
I'm glad that you think so!! It's probably because of the smears (blurry actions) and stretching/squashing. Like for example their hair looks longer than normal in this panel, we're used to seeing this trick in art and animation, our brain suggests quick movement.
This scene was totally unnecessary and self-indulgent, yet I wish I'd make it even longer hahah. Just two elves frolicking around and chatting nonsense. This form of communication's much easier for Alisaie than holding hands and talking feels.
"you still can't duel for shit" interesting! So does Vivi have a weakness in battles where he has to fight one other person, or is it only in sparring? Does he have anyone else that he naturally works with? Does he have an easier time when he's fighting multiple people at once? :O I just realised I've never really seen what his fighting style looks like in a fight where his life is at stake.
Vivi can't see the telegraphs if there's no actual threat to his life, a bit of silly ingame mechanic interpretation for the Echo. Alisaie has no intention to harm him and would stop before her sword reaches him, so he's kinda blind, only relying on his actual (average) combat skill :'>
Once he realized that Hydaelyn's gifts carry him when shit hits the fan, he started dismissing the real training/skill. Vivi doesn't see the merit/appeal in being a cool fighter, the world-saving happens anyway while he's present, so why bother. But I fear I'm getting too far ahead of the comic plot.
"You STILL can't duel" implies that they've gone through this before. Even if it's been 1 year for Alisaie, for Vivi just about a week since their separation, hell knows when did they spar last time, he obviously didn't undergo some massive training in a week, Alisaie mustn't expect much from this lil dance, it's simply better than standing and twiddling her thumbs.
Gotta acknowledge how much value I get from our convos, aside from the happy brain juice. You're bringing up many points that make me realize how and where I could improve my work. We indeed haven't seen Vivi in a "real" fight, I thought it wasn't worth the screentime because the comic's focused on daily life and feels, YET! As time goes on, it becomes more of a sore thumb, a missing beat, a solid chunk of Vivi's life unjustly shoved aside. This's important, and I'm already looking into fixing it. There's plenty of opportunities to show a page or two of combat without changing my script.
"This Crystal Mystel tends to get broody when left alone for too long" HI??? HELLO?? I'm in SHAMBLES
Wehhhhh ;w; <3 I received so much love for this line aaaaaa. Thank you so much. Their casual greeting and body language indeed hint at a shared past, I'll be sprinkling in more of their interactions and flashbacks throughout the years.
Anyway I apologise for taking so long, I've been trying to commit the entire comic the memory before I say anything so I can Really talk abt it >:'3 I give you, the author and artist, a flower as well for all your hard work šŗ
Please never apologize or feel obliged to comment on every episode!! I'm taking great joy in reading and replying to these posts, I can babble on about Fragments for hours, but I don't want this to feel like a job for you ;3;
Also time to give back some flowers, catch~ šøš·š¼š¹šŗšøš¼š»šøšŗš¹š¼šŗšø
ā§ā¦ā§ āFragmentsā - episode 27 ā§ā¦ā§
A little girl bested Vivi with her left hand. Exarch's still impressed for some reason. (reason: oblivious fanboy)

The Uno Reverse Adoption Saga Comments Q&A
Iām so sorry I took so long :(
questions and answers below the line
Firstly: Things I clarified and feel could have caused some confusion:
Clarification 1: I do take suggestions! So long as no one is rude I love hearing other peopleās thoughts/ideas/feedback/speculations/etc. ^_^
Clarification 2: The trio are all halfas. How? Why? What am I basing their abilities off of? Go read Third Time by DarkNympha, I genuinely cannot write anything better than that to capture the astoundingly awesome ideas and emotions than they did. I tried to write my halfa trio as close to how they were depicted there as possible because it is such a work of art. 20/10 would recommend!Ā
Secondly, Questions:
1 Q: How did the trio die?
A: See 10 Q or refer to Clarification 2 :)
2 Q: What was the Scramble Incident?Ā
A: A plot device. The scrambled tech is a challenge for the trio and it does indirectly cause a lot of opportunities/problems I can capitalize on in the story. Currently, fleshing out the incident over time and defeating the scrambler is planned be sort of like a ālook how everyoneās changedā deal.
3 Q: Sam and Tucker have mechanical parts integrated to their ghost forms- do they get special functions?Ā
A: Yep! Samās camera can take a picture of a person and the picture it shows is of their death! If it is a place it will show who or whatever died their last. She can control it to some degree by filtering out certain kind of death, like if she only wanted to see victims of drowning at a place, or if she only wanted info on cats that have died recently instead of whatever has died recently in general. They mostly used the camera in the scant old, unsolved cases to help some ghosts find peace (No one really gets murdered in Amity now a day so its old cases).Ā
Tuckerās PDA is a living extension of himself and so it canāt really be hacked since he can just adjust things on the fly. Anything he has on his PDA is something he can remember. Say he used his PDA and texted someone a month ago- heād remember the conversation clearly. Additionally he doesnāt have to focus as much as other ghosts to overshadow tech since the PDA acts as a catalyst (in a sense). I havenāt planned out the details of Tuckerās PDA as much as I have Samās camera as the camera becomes important sooner rather than later. Donāt be surprised if I tweak what the PDA can do ;)
4 Q: Has Jason mentioned Sam to anyone from the family yet? The Anti Ecto Acts seem like something Batman should know about.
A: He hasnāt! He looked through the acts, read the Fentonās āresearchā and realized that he fits the description of a violent non-feeling (he only really expresses anger or irritation these days) ghost pretty well. He doesnāt trust the others, especially Bruce, to see that āresearchā and still think of him as a person. Heās not going to risk subjecting the trio to Batman either. It gets worse once he has access to the Amity side of the web and reads whatever bs the GIW has been spewing.Ā Itāll get better though
5 Q: Danny has an ice core, so what cores do Sam and Tucker have?
A: Iāve combined strong electricity and fire into a plasma core, and that is what Tucker has. Sam has an earthy leaning nature core. Bonus info- Vlad has either a frail plasma core or a strong combustion nature core, Dani has an aqueous leaning nature core, and Clockwork has a temporal core.
6 Q: How old is everyone?Ā
A: The trio are 16 and that makes Jazz 19 as she is 2 ish years older than them. Jason is legally 26, and I know that he was dead for 4 years so heās arguably 22. He and everyone else considers him 26 in story though. I havenāt decided on anyone elseās ages as of yet but Damian is probably going to be 14 because Jason needs more crises for me to address later on.Ā
7 Q: Are the Mansons/Jason worried that Sam is gone?
A: Addressed in the last 2 chapters! Directly: Jason was worried and now heāsā¦ still worried. Indirectly: The Mansons, and the other party guests, are unconscious/unaware and are being carted off to hospitals. Thisāll come up later.
8 Q: Is this on AO3?
A: Yes! You can goĀ hereĀ and if that doesnāt work here is the link:Ā
9 Q: Sam is Jewish. Why are her parents so concerned with Christmas?Ā
A: This is less about religion and more about influence! They worry about the Christmas Gala because itās a prestige thing to be invited and they care about their image too much not to go. It can be seen as a snuff if you donāt go and then Upperclass Politics Occurs. Additionally itās a great time to socialize and do fancy rich people connections stuff. So yeah, their approach is based more the social aspect of the party than a religious one.Ā
10 Q:
Referring to this I assume: āPeople who died with conviction strong enough to become an obsession or who died traumatically enough to became ghosts did so with fully matured cores.ā
A: When I wrote that I was focusing on how someone died and the events leading up to their death in my mind. For example, if someone was convinced they were being stalked for days beforehand and then is murdered they might have more emotional buildup than someone who gets murdered suddenly out of the blue. I feel like there would be a limited window after a person dies that outside events could still impact if they become a ghost- like if the murderer from the previous scenario hid the body after doing the deed the person might gather more ectoplasm and linger because they want their body to be found (more emotions basically).Ā
The death of the trio is the portal accident but Sam and Tucker got hit. I used Third Time as the basis for the trio (I highly recommend that read, I enjoyed it a ton). There are differences in abilities but for the most part I yoinked the fic as the background for the trio. I justā¦ I did try to write a one shot in the same vein and then later when I was working out the details for the Halfa Trio I found myself just regurgitating Third Time in various ways. DarkNymfa knocked the ball out of the park. I just canāt do better than the original.
As far as Jason and his resurrection goes, I have not yet worked everything out and donāt want to say much on what I have decided on as that mystery is something that can act as a great tool to move the plot forward. Mysteries arenāt fun if they are figured out too quickly.
11 Q: Is Scarecrow a ghost?
A: Nope! He is liminal and the reason the trio mistook him for a ghost (besides his ghostly appearance) was that Jason, who was in the attic below them, triggered their ghost senses. They realized their mistake when Scarecrow/Crane didnāt fight Batman like a ghost wouldāve. No intangibility, telekinesis, etc.
And thatās all. Iām sorry that some of these have been sitting in the comments for for months ^_^ā
Iām going to try to get back into replying to comments so weāll see how that goes.

Youāre doing a LoK rewrite, correct? Would be really interested in hearing how you plan on fixing Suyinās character and the Lin-Suyin conflict becauseā¦ā¦. oh boy. Man thereās a lot to unpack there. This is what happens when we donāt let Toph just raise her fucking kids for the sake of pushing a stupid as hell narrative about working women and single motherhood.
I am indeed!
In... you know, the way I'm doing most of my big potential projects, in that I have a folder with some documents that have plot notes and... some day I may actually get full, finished fics out of them (h2o AU is in there, as is my voltron!atla fusion AU, and uhhhh my book 3 atla rewrite, and a few other things), so... but I will say that the docs I have for my LoK rewrite so far amount to roughly 4.2k words of just Plot and Character Notes, which may some day turn into words of Story, hopefully.
ANYWAY, POINT IS: yes, this exists, and I have Many Many Thoughts.
Including how the Gaang kids would shake out! Cause I know I'm doing Zutara, and maybe Tokka???? Although I don't wanna just leave Suki out either... maybe a throuple??? Or Sukka having an amicable breakup before Sokka and Toph get together--maybe she already has Lin by then, and Sokka helps support her through the grief of losing Kanto???? Idk honestly, I haven't actually figured any of that out definitively yet except that Aang was perfectly happy to settle down with an Air Acolyte from one of the rebuilt temples because he grew up and out of his crush on Katara pretty easily once he hit puberty and matured a bit.
UHHH none of which is actually an answer to your question, because it's a valid one! Which is why I've been sitting on this a while (10 days I'm so sorry) bc I haven't made any solid decisions but I've been letting it percolate around my head a bit. And the more I think about it, the more I really like the Sukka -> Tokka idea (and I don't want to kill off Suki since the kids all deserve their awesome Kyoshi warrior auntie in their lives, and also I want a Sukka kid to be besties with Iara [zuko and katara's youngest] so maybe she gets with someone else after she and Sokka split? I could be talked into Ty Lee/Suki actually, the more I think about it....), but obviously having a stable father figure and a Toph who is... not what LoK made her out to be will dramatically change the Beifong family dynamic.
That said, I think I actually have a solution. (I'm so sorry for what I'm about to do.) Toph has Lin with Kanto--and he passes away when Lin is two or three, which is why she has very few memories of her father. (Although none of this 'she doesn't even know his name until she's 50+ cause Toph didn't tell her daughters about their fathers' bullshit.) Sokka is there for her through it all (all of the gaang is, of course, but you know that it sometimes just hits different when it's someone you're also starting to fall in love with, especially when there are older and much more deeply buried feelings there that are now resurfacing, because at least in my version Toph was deeply in love with Sokka when they were teenagers, but he was in love with Suki and she also loved Suki so she didn't want to mess up anything about their family or the group dynamics by making her feelings anyone else's problem), they fall in love, get married and have Suyin.
(Sokka may jokingly refer to it as a shotgun wedding, but the truth is he wanted to propose well before he found out she was pregnant, his attempts just kept getting messed up in increasingly comedic fashion.)
Throughout all of this, Republic City has been established, Sokka is Chancellor, Toph is something of a defacto police chief--mostly because, at the time, no one else was willing to volunteer, and she jokingly offered to whip the law enforcement, but unfortunately everyone else at the meeting took her seriously. However, she is also the founder of the probending league, and basically her feelings about law enforcement are complicated and she actively discouraged her kids from joining the force which is part of why Lin did. How else do you have a teen rebel phase with a parent like Toph? (Which, in this instance, means tough and firm but fair, with a 'you break it, it's up to you to fix it' attitude and very little desire to actually control her daughters and their behavior.)
Ah, but here's the rub.
Suyin is ten years old when Sokka dies, and Lin is sixteen. I'm not sure how he's killed--maybe by Yakone, to tie it into my plans for Amon and book 1. (Note that I'm not sure when the Yakone bloodbending trial happened in canon, but it doesn't matter. The timeline I'm gonna build will be completely different post-comet, and I'll eventually write it all down so that I can keep things straight.) Which would incidentally provide excellent means of having Katara have a very personal stake in the Amon conflict, and perhaps color the fight between him and Iara, but I'm getting off track. And I think Sokka being killed by Yakone, and Toph being unable to protect or save him, or deliver her own brand of justice to avenge him (because Aang is there to stop her and.... shit probably got ugly, I suspect she didn't talk to Aang for at least twenty years after Sokka's death--and this isn't to say I think Toph is particularly violent or murderous, but in that moment, she absolutely wanted to kill the man with her bare hands, and however much she may have regretted it afterwards, she took a very long time to forgive Aang for stopping her in the first place), is what results in Toph stepping down as police chief.
She didn't withdraw from her daughters or fuck off into the swamp or anything (words cannot express how much I hate that part of her canon history), but she did grieve for a very long time. Lin, meanwhile, felt like it was up to her to keep her family together, while also feeling a desperate need to... prove herself, I think. And because her mother was so adamant that she not join the police force, that's exactly what she does. I think Lin completely misread Toph's intentions, too, and believed that the discouragement was because her mother didn't think she had what it takes, when in reality I think Toph was scared of Lin losing herself in the job like she herself had begun to, and eventually coming up on something she couldn't change or fix and making the same mistakes she had.
(I think Toph and Lin have communication issues largely because they are both headstrong and willful, but where Toph thought she was giving her daughters the room they would need to make their own way, what Lin desperately craved was direction and she felt like that was something her mother simply couldn't understand.)
Suyin, on the other hand, fell in with a bad crowd like in canon. I think that what she desperately needed was attention, similar to Lin craving direction, and Toph was trying so hard not to be her own parents that she went a little too far in the other direction and Suyin began to feel like it didn't matter what she did, her mom wouldn't care, or get angry, or discipline her, or anything. Lin and Suyin butted heads a lot growing up, too, especially after Sokka's death, because Lin tried to rein in her sister's behavior and this was met with resistance and derision because Suyin felt like Lin was trying to be both mom and dad and she was neither but her big sister would never admit to being just as lost as she was and it made her furious.
So when Suyin is sixteen, and Lin is twenty-two and new to the force, The Big Rift happens. Lin catches Suyin and her gang, tries to apprehend her, gets a scar on her face in the ensuing conflict. But instead of abusing her power and sending her problem child off to her mother before fucking off to the swamp to avoid the consequences of her actions, Toph tries to actually fix things. Suyin cools her heels in prison for a while, because she was paralyzed by guilt at the time when she hurt her sister (a few inches lower and she could have slit her throat), and was still there when Lin's backup arrived.
Uhhhhhhhhhhh..... I'm so sorry I rambled for so long, BUT THE UPSHOT IS: I think Suyin learned a bit about culpability and taking responsibility for her own actions, Toph realized that her daughters had different needs than she did at their age (and I think a lot of the problem was that grief clouded her own ability to connect with her daughters, and in trying to not be her own parents she lost sight of how to be the parent her own daughters needed), and Lin, I think, had to realize that she had never fully processed the loss of not one but two fathers and had turned to her job in order to avoid actually confronting the grief that had overshadowed her childhood.
However, she did not forgive Suyin, at least not right away--and she wasn't forced or expected to. Suyin understood that she crossed a serious line, she took her lumps and did her time, and no one shamed Lin for her anger. I think, as a result, she had less reason to hold onto that bitterness, and perhaps by the time the story actually begins, she and Suyin are on much better terms, though I haven't worked it out exactly yet.
UHHH yeah I went on for days lmao. All of this is subject to change, too, depending on the needs of the story whenever I get around to actually writing it all down, BUT these are my initial thoughts, at least.

wishful thinkingĀ ā harry potter
pairing: harry potter x female!reader
request:Ā Hey you know the dancing scene between Harry and Hermione in the deathly hallows part 1? I was wondering if I could request a one shot with Harry but he's dancing with the reader instead, and when they stop dancing Harry confess his love for her and kiss her?? ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø It would be awesome if you could do it!
a/n: probably not gonna be able to post as much as i used to since iām starting an online summer program thing tomorrow :(
It gets overwhelming, sometimes, the whole Boy-Who-Lived business. The only one to ever survive the Killing Curse, the boy who defeated the Dark Lord before he could even walk and talk, savior of the wizarding worldāHarry Potter.
Whenever people say his name, they either speak of him as if he's a saint or an annoying teenage boy desperate for attention. It's either he's the slayer of Lord Voldemort or that kid who thinks too highly of himself just because he got lucky enough to not die. He's many different things to many different people depending on which side of the story they heard and who they heard it from.
But Harry is.. well, he's Harry. Just Harry.
And Harry is a boy like any other. Harry doesn't spring up out of bed and start plotting Voldemort's downfall; he's a seventeen-year-old boy who finds joy in things like spending summer days playing Quidditch and joking around with his small circle of friends out by the Hogwarts courtyard just like anyone else. He loves and hurts and hopes and laughsājust like anyone else.
And Harry feels pain, too. Just like anyone else.
But what sets Harry apart from an ordinary teenager is that his eyes have seen far too much death than anyone his age is supposed to. Harry has witnessed it countless of times knowing that some, if not most of them were his fault. He has loved people only to lose them in the end; he has carried the burden of grief on his shoulders for as long as he can remember. And after all of those losses, it's only inevitable that he starts noticing:
Everyone close to him dies. One way or the other.
So when he starts noticing his heart growing too close to herāwhen he finds his gaze lingering on her far longer than necessary, when images of her smiling face sneak into his head in the dead of nightāHarry decides to put a stop to it. He has to, while it's still early.
But feelings like these don't just go away. No matter how hard Harry tries to convince himself that [Y/N] is a friend just like Ron and Hermione and every other, his feelings linger like an echoing noise inside his head that surfaces whenever he lets his guard down; loud and incessant and unwilling to go away.
And so two years pass with him having a tug of war in his head between letting himself succumb to his feelings or pushing them away to protect her. Because really, no matter how much he feels for her, he is scared that one day he will wake up and hear that she has been captured and killed like so many before her, just because she is close to Harry.
He wishes he could be selfish. He wishes he could think to himself that, okay, you've been through a lot and you deserve thisāyou deserve to love and to be loved, but he can't risk putting her life on the line like that. He has risked far too much and lost too manyāhe can't add her onto that list.
Except it doesn't get any easier to restrain himself.
Every waking moment he spends with her he is left in disbelief because Harry has never thought that he could feel this happy and this miserable at the same time. Happy because he feels like he's at home and at peace, but miserable because he knows he can never have her.
Harry wonders if he will ever let himself feel love the way it's supposed to be felt someday.
He wonders it now, sitting in silence with her in the tent they've been sharing on the run for quite some time. It's at times like these that everything that has happened to them for the past few months starts to pile up on his shoulders; terror and pain and loss that has been set aside too often but now demands to be felt.
They've run from Snatchers and escaped the clutches of death more times than Harry can count. Each time, he inches ever so closer to losing her, as he has feared for so long. And he feels it now, stronger than ever beforeāthe fear.
He stares at her from a few feet away. [Y/N]'s gaze is fixed on the floor, eyes gazing absently. She looks tired. Her cheeks have gone hollow and there are tiny scars on her face and on her arms that hadn't been there months ago, some fresh and some just beginning to heal. Harry wants to reach out and press his lips to each one of them in turn like this will somehow heal them, one by one.
But instead he sits there, staring, hoping against hope that she can't see the love threatening to burst right out of his chest.
It's the kind of love you hold between your lungs and your ribcage and hope that no one can see it glowing through your skin. The kind that you keep to yourself. The dangerous kind.
But the night is quiet and so are the pair of them. There is a song playing on the radio. [Y/N] and Harry are the only living, breathing souls for miles and miles aside from a rabbit or two, and there are no Snatchers around nor anyone hoping to kill them.
For the first time in a long time, Harry feels like he is allowed to breathe.
So he pushes away all of the burdens resting on his shoulders. He will acknowledge them at a different time. For now, he isn't the boy destined to bring about the Dark Lord's downfall, and for now, he isn't trying to protect anyone. [Y/N] included.
For now, he is just Harry, and there is nothing else in the world but him and [Y/N] and faint music crackling through the radio.
Harry gets to his feet and walks over to her. It takes [Y/N] a brief moment to realize that he is standing in front of her. Once she has snapped herself out of her reverie, she looks up at Harry, who has his hand held out.
"Care for a dance?" Harry asks her, and his voice is quiet but there is a ghost of a weak smile on his lips.
She blinks once. Twice. And then she lets out a long breath, nods, and lets Harry take her hand and pull her to her feet to the middle of the tent.
They are slow, at first. Hesitant. Neither of them quite know what they're doingāHarry definitely doesn't. The practice he received from McGonagall for the Yule Ball all those years ago is of little use, so he finds himself stumbling a little on his feet and repetitively stepping on [Y/N]'s toes by accident. But somewhere along the fifth time he does this, [Y/N] starts laughingāand once she starts, she can't seem to stop. So Harry starts laughing, too. And then he raises her arms and twirls her, over and over, laughing all the while as they dance erratically to the music until she spins back into his arms and stays there, hands on his shoulders, his on her waist as the song fades to a close and the moment of uncontrolled joy vanishes.
[Y/N] rests her head against his, silent.
Harry closes his eyes, waiting for her to pull away but not really wanting her to. As if she has heard him, she stays where she stands. And then, quietly, as though this brief moment of peace will slip away if he speaks too loud, Harry whispers, "What if we just stay here?"
She doesn't respond. Harry knows whyābecause it's impossible. There are too many people counting on them; too many lives to be saved and too little time. But Harry hopes, anyway, because it brings him even the slightest bit of comfort to envision a world where there is only him and her.
"We can grow old here together," Harry says, voice soft, and his chest aches. There's a lump in his throat and a painful prickling feeling behind his eyes as he keeps going, "We can stay and hide here until the war blows over." He doesn't mean it. But Harry can't quite have what other young boys doānormalcy and love and a life safe at homeāso he is at least allowed to imagine. "We can stay and stop trying to find Horcruxesāstop trying to kill You-Know-Who."
"And leave everyone to die," [Y/N] finishes quietly. He both hears and feels her take a deep, shuddery breath; his grip on her waist tightens.
Harry wishes the world was differentāor at least his. He never wanted to be famous. He never wanted his parents, nor anyone, to die for him. He wishes he could have grown up with a family he felt safe with, wishes he could have had more than a few months in his mother's arms and that he could take back all of the lives that had been sacrificed for him. And most of all, right in this moment, he wishes with all of his heart that he could love as freely as he wanted without having to worry about the consequences.
But those are just wishes, and nothing in the world can grant them. Not even magic.
Maybe that's why, when he pulls away and leans his forehead against hers, a single tear slips out of Harry's eyes. It's not like he doesn't know; he has known for a long time that some things in life he just can't have. But he's frustrated and desperate and the love in his chest that he has been trying to reign down for so long finally spills out and has him admitting, voice a hushed whisper, "I love you."
And then his lips are on hers, hesitant and slow and gentle, and it feels like finally as much as it feels like I can't do this.
He half-expects her to pull away. But she only moves his lips over his, just as slow. Harry tastes salty tears on his tongueāwonders whose tears they are, his or hersāand then she breaks away a little and replies in a mere whisper into his lips: "I know."
And for now, Harry thinks to himself, that is enough.

I forgot to comment :(
I keep remembering Ingrid is dead š And we forced Shamir to join us by threatening Catherine š
Keep remembering then, because those plot points will be, uh, totally relevant later on. I mean, as relevant as anything can be in a BE route.
Why, though? Edelgard just said in her support with Balthus she intends to conquer all of Fodlan. Does she see Claude as the least threatening? Iād like to know why Claude thinks itās a good idea too.
No sheās just after Rhea!!!
Given how Claude accepted to side with her - instead of being folded - it seems like a good move on her part, but remember who weāre talking about, the lady only had one supply line :)
Iām having Shez be such an ass. He turned down sparing with Holst and made things awkward.
Holtz is a disappointment looks and character wise, so I donāt think Shez is being an ass here lol
Edelgard just called it an āinvasionā too. So at least sheās honest.
But only because they took RhEa in bcs sheās BaD and the reason why the war started!!!
Surprisingly enough, this isnāt only parroted by die hard edelstans :(
I love how Hubert is spinning Dimitri wiping out the Western lords as some evil thing. But, like, those people organized a genocide.
When it comes from Hubert, itās hilarious because Papa Vestra was killed off-screen for, uh, reasons we will never know, and weāre not supposed to care. I love how Hubert brings out the double standard in his routes (remember the Dimitri BaD in CF bcs he didnāt came to salute them before fighting to their deaths in Tailtean?) - but if he is the one supposed to play it straight, the game didnāt get the memo that, hey, itās Hubert. He isnāt supposed to be the most, uh, neutral narrator out there!
Claude, Edelgard, Linhardt and just about everyone else is bemoaning all the people who are going to die in the war. for daring to ā¦ defend their lives But my girl Dorothea is the only one who seems to realize that her side is the cause of the bloodshed. Not the people who would never have to fight if Edelgard didnāt force them too.
Mhh. Did you get her support with her beloved leader?
āWhen people think someone is after what the possess, they respond with fear - even if the thought is all in their head.ā - Ferdinand. Except, itās not?
Ferdie and Caspar were really butchered to make sense in Nopes as characters who cannot defect, so now Ferdie acts like, say, someone making statements that are completely wrong about everything.
IIRC he has a line in the game where he mentions the Kingdom values CrEsTs more than the Empire, and thatās why there are more crested generals/peons in the Kingdom than in the Empire... Except that someone compiled the data for the npcs, and lo, the Empire still has more npcs/generals with crests than the Kingdom lol.
Edelgard openly wants to rule their lands with absolute authority. Sheās already stolen everything from one of her enemies, why should the Kingdom believe they wouldnāt get the same treatment Rhea did?
I will not spoil, but... no, I wonāt spoil!
I wish the game would make it clear what Edelgard would do to Dimitri and co if they did surrender. Because, like, does anyone really think Hubert would leave them alive? Or Edelgard for that matter? If she wants to rule the Kingdom, Dimitri and most of the Blue Lions would HAVE to die. Wouldnāt she throw Dimitri and his supporters out of their homes and replace them with Empire nobility at best? Itās not in their heads.
This made me think, in CF, Edel specifically asks for Dimitriās death.
Hey, at least this is the first interesting thing thatās happened in SB since the prologue lamo. I hope itās not just back to CF now except Claude is now Edelgardās toady.
Mmh.
The ending is particulary awesome too, very shonen-esque.
Weird support. Ferdinand is getting respected and admired by a Black Eagle instead of being the butt monkey. Caspar is thinking and questioning having something in his life other than furthering his reputation via killing people. I like it.
Well... Given how Caspar was retconned to be the dumb bloodthirsty muscle, this support sort of works, even if I suppose it would also have worked in FE16, but with a different setting.
He wants to defend Edelgard because her promoting him changed his life.
Remember how he sort of chewed her out for starting her war in the C support? But now, Shez only looks after his own hide and thanks her for giving him a promotion. Itās way more down to earth and sort of materialistic, but Shez is Shez.
Iād like to hear your opinions about him when youāll finish all routes!
Sorry, but this was boring af. Never thought Iād say that about a Hubert support.
Imagine if Hapi discovered Hubie was in cahoots with Cordelia, who experimented on her - oh wait, this is a BE route.
Instead of tackling the elephant in the room, letās talk about coffee instead.
I honestly really donāt like CF!Caspar, but SB!Caspar seems even worse, like heās just his dadās little killing-happy puppet.
When you remember in FE16 his paralogue was all about him leeroy jenkins against the Death Knight, who captures and kills (?) young ladies - Caspar used to be the stupid shonen sidekick raving about justice (remember his catherine support?) but now he dgaf and wants to kill with daddy. Yay.
Have you done their paralogue? Itās very, uh, interesting meritocracy wise.
Randolph is still a little shit. He WANTS to invade the Alliance. IDK, I just cannot fathom wanting something like that of any country let alone an ally
Randy is a weird case, we hear all those things about how great and nice he is supposed to be, but when we see him, he wants to invade his allies, and disses on Edelās army that is made up of commoners...
Lamo, Edelgard literally just said might makes right.
What can you expect from #Nemesisdidnothingwrong and #Nemesiswasachampionofhumanity ? Might makes right was his motto (completely with the hypocrisy of defeating a sleeping/comatose Sothis, but hey)
Hilda legit just asked Claude why heās made a strategy that limits casualties. Are people from Faerghus the only ones who donāt love killing people? She is doubting the Empire at least. She really doesnāt like Edelgard, lol.
Eh, Hilda is a character that is... complicated, to say the least.
She is doubting the Empire, so thatās cookie points for her, but wondering why Claude is limiting casualties... is it because she doesnāt care about other people dying? I think itās developed in one of her supports, but Iāll wait until you unlock them in GW!
Not seeing Ingrid with the others hurts. Theyāre really out here just trying to stop everyone else from trying to murder them
#toxicmasculinity #chivalrybad
Theyāre BaD for not accepting Adrestian rule!
See this is why Dimitriās the best one - āThe old ways must die - with that I agree. But shove that down the peopleās throats, and you risk breaking the very land youāre trying to rule.ā
To some people, this line means Dimitri doesnāt want to change the status quo thus is centrist, or some other thing.
But it takes an entire new meaning when we realise Dimitri might be talking about Lambert, he died because he tried to push reforms, and some people in Faerghus planned for a regicide, effectively breaking the land (until he came)...
Anyways, Faerghus BaD. Donāt forget it, itāll be important later on in this route!
Iām guessing Jeralt gives Byleth his sword in every route
:)
Letās say Good OlāJerry forgot to return Rheaās sword when he bailed out some years ago.
I canāt imagine this is going to be anything but nauseating.
:(
Ohhh, wow, they really went there. Edelgard tells Monica to her face that she only rescued Monica because it suited her, didnāt plan on it, and would let Monica die if it helped her goals.
And of course, just like in CF, when she reveals she had been using people and planned on letting them die to reach her goals, she is met with opposition, distrust, anger and maybe people bailing out on her?
Learning this changes exactly nothing about Monica.
At this point idk if itās a thing about Monica, or the games not being able to write a character being angry at Edel and having face the consequences or backlash of her own actions without Hubert acting as a proxy
In case you didnāt read my GW reaction, I was quite pleased to see Byleth actually pissed about someone almost hurt their dad given how little they ask Edelgard about her involvement in that in CF.
Thatās why I was talking about with theĀ āHubert proxyā, Edel promises Billy to tell them more about the agarthans, but itās Hubert who does, in his paralogue. Not Edel, never her, of course :)
The Byleth plot is very interesting, as you might see in other routes, because it opens another can of worms that was, sort of, retconned in FE Heroes!
I love how they go from celebrating the deaths of Faerghus to lamenting their own loses, without any acknowledgment that THEY are responsible for all of this or that the people they killed were just as āaliveā as they are.
:)
:ā)
Scarlet Blaze Ch 10
I don't remember if there's 13, 14, or 15 chapters per route in this game, but here we go with SB Ch 10.
STORY
I keep remembering Ingrid is dead š And we forced Shamir to join us by threatening Catherine š
Oh, boy, Claude just became Edelgard's bitch boy. Can't say I didn't suspect this.
Why, though? Edelgard just said in her support with Balthus she intends to conquer all of Fodlan. Does she see Claude as the least threatening? I'd like to know why Claude thinks it's a good idea too.
So I take it this time Claude is getting shoe-horned into Edelgard's story rather than Byleth's? I wonder if we'll see this in AG and GW too. Or if it'll be a bit different.
I'm having Shez be such an ass. He turned down sparing with Holst and made things awkward.
Is Claude still king in this route?
"We'll be invading Fraldarius" no šš.
Edelgard just called it an "invasion" too. So at least she's honest.
I love how Hubert is spinning Dimitri wiping out the Western lords as some evil thing. But, like, those people organized a genocide.
DOROTHEA, my beloved!!! THANK GOD.
Claude, Edelgard, Linhardt and just about everyone else is bemoaning all the people who are going to die in the war. for daring to . . . defend their lives But my girl Dorothea is the only one who seems to realize that her side is the cause of the bloodshed. Not the people who would never have to fight if Edelgard didn't force them too.
"Whatever our intent, we're the instigators here. We can't expect the enemy to do anything less than defend their land with tooth and claw." Dorothea is queen. A hypocrite, but at least the game realizes who's really at fault.
"When people think someone is after what the possess, they respond with fear - even if the thought is all in their head." - Ferdinand. Except, it's not?
Edelgard openly wants to rule their lands with absolute authority. She's already stolen everything from one of her enemies, why should the Kingdom believe they wouldn't get the same treatment Rhea did? I wish the game would make it clear what Edelgard would do to Dimitri and co if they did surrender. Because, like, does anyone really think Hubert would leave them alive? Or Edelgard for that matter? If she wants to rule the Kingdom, Dimitri and most of the Blue Lions would HAVE to die. Wouldn't she throw Dimitri and his supporters out of their homes and replace them with Empire nobility at best? It's not in their heads.
Hey, at least this is the first interesting thing that's happened in SB since the prologue lamo. I hope it's not just back to CF now except Claude is now Edelgard's toady.
CASPAR & FERDINAND A SUPPORT
Ok guys, for anyone who's curious, this is where I picked up after finishing FE Engage. Feels a lot less daunting knowing I'm already a good numbers of ch into every route.
Weird support. Ferdinand is getting respected and admired by a Black Eagle instead of being the butt monkey. Caspar is thinking and questioning having something in his life other than furthering his reputation via killing people. I like it.
Ferdie called himself a master of none and admired Caspar back.
LINHARDT & DOROTHEA A SUPPORT
Wasn't this B support the one where we learned Edelgard had a single sole supply line? Lamo.
Dorothea's not going to keep taking notes for Linhardt lol.
She got hurt, so Linhardt took notes for her. She's surprised, but pleased.
She told him he had his own charm, and he's like "please, no." I love him.
I don't think this support really showed a new side to the characters, though. It felt like an emptier version of their OG one.
SHEZ & EDELGARD B SUPPORT
Shez wants her to trust him. She says she does now.
He feels purposeless and wants to be her bodyguard.
Lamo, one of Shez's response options is "stand there slack-jawed." I forgot how much I liked Shez.
He wants to defend Edelgard because her promoting him changed his life.
HUBERT & HAPI A SUPPORT
Hapi is trying to make nice with Hubert.
They're bonding over coffee.
Now they're having coffee and talking about it. I'm more of a tea person, tbh.
Sorry, but this was boring af. Never thought I'd say that about a Hubert support.
CAMP + SIDE BATTLES
Dimitri took Cornelia down in this route too. Badass.
Ashe is so miserable, poor dude. Mercie isn't happy either.
I honestly really don't like CF!Caspar, but SB!Caspar seems even worse, like he's just his dad's little killing-happy puppet.
Randolph is still a little shit. He WANTS to invade the Alliance. IDK, I just cannot fathom wanting something like that of any country let alone an ally.
Lamo, Edelgard literally just said might makes right.
Shit, I just remembered that Ingrid's dead in this timeline.
Hilda legit just asked Claude why he's made a strategy that limits casualties. Are people from Faerghus the only ones who don't love killing people? She is doubting the Empire at least. She really doesn't like Edelgard, lol.
Not seeing Ingrid with the others hurts. They're really out here just trying to stop everyone else from trying to murder them.
See this is why Dimitri's the best one - "The old ways must die - with that I agree. But shove that down the people's throats, and you risk breaking the very land you're trying to rule." If Edelgard had her way, there'd be nothing left to rule except the Empire.
Yeah, the reason you can't work with the Empire, Dimitri, is that Edelgard wants to rule all of Fodlan. Her alliance with Claude has made it really clear that the Empire still intends a hostile take over of even their own allies. Which, honestly, I do appreciate SB for being a bit more honest than CF.
I really don't want to fight Rodrigue. I do think it's funny that your enemy always hires Jeralt though.
I'm guessing Jeralt gives Byleth his sword in every route.
SHEZ & BERNADETTA B SUPPORT
Starts with her screaming and shrieking about something.
Anna showed up! She's selling something to Bernadetta that will help her with her shyness. Also sells her something shifty. Or tries. Because Bernadetta assumes Anna's up to no good (probably true) and buys nothing.
Shez calls her judgmental lol. He's not wrong.
BERNADETTA & FERDINAND C SUPPORT
This is their only support. Kinda weird given their past history.
She's eating plants. Ferdinand is concerned she's eating bad stuff. Ferdinand wants to have a competition over who collects the most edible plants.
Poor Bernie. His "competition" really reminded me of those guys who are like "oh, prove it, name xxx!" when I say I like this sport or that fandom because I must be lying to impress them or some shit. (except I don't think Ferdie is being sexist here, just annoying af).
Bernie gets hurt and one of Ferdie's plants can help fix it.
Also, he lost.
EDELGARD & MONICA B SUPPORT
I can't imagine this is going to be anything but nauseating.
Haha, Edelgard just said in another world they may have lost Monica forever (to TWSITD).
Edelgard says she only saved Monica because it was the best move lol. And like, we know this is actually true because, well . . .
Ohhh, wow, they really went there. Edelgard tells Monica to her face that she only rescued Monica because it suited her, didn't plan on it, and would let Monica die if it helped her goals.
I know a lot of times people play off Edelgard's harshness as "oh, she's just insecure and saying that!" But here you can't really make that argument because it happens in Houses lamo.
She literally didn't rescue Monica because she needed TWSITD soldiers.
Learning this changes exactly nothing about Monica.
It added some stuff to Edelgard, but Monica is still horribly one-note.
FERDINAND & DOROTHEA B SUPPORT
I know a lot of people like their Houses support chain, but I kinda don't? It's drama over something really silly.
Edelgard is here. Ugh. I want Dorothea, not her.
Oh, good grief, it's going to be about the same annoying thing. Ferdinand is remembering seeing Dorothea and being stunned by her beauty.
(like, imagine getting pissed off that someone stares at you when you're butt-ass naked in public and dripping wet)
Dorothea's a lot more reasonable this time, getting flustered hearing this.
MAIN BATTLE
Every time I log back into this, I remember that Ingrid's dead :(
Oh, God, please tell me that I'm not killing Rodrigue and Felix now.
They go from "oh, bummer, we have to kill people to! Let's go Empire!!!" Bit of a whiplash, but Dorothea's the only one who seems to realize they're killing people and not NPCs lamo.
Same conversation between Shez and Arval. Guessing I'll get it in AG when it's time for recruiting Byleth too.
Ok, like with Golden Wildfire, I'll try to unlock Byleth. But unlike with GW where I reset and tried a few times, I'm only trying once. Because I really want to finish this and get to other games. AG is the only route where I'll put in real effort to get Byleth because I care more about those characters getting a fully happy ending than the rest.
I think I failed again lol. It changed from a side goal to the main goal to fight Byleth. I didn't move around the map fast enough.
God, I love Rodrigue.
Rodrigue died. I'm guessing if I recruit Byleth, that doesn't change? How many other Blue Lions does SB force me to kill?
Cut scene time. So who dies in SB?
LAMO, it's Randolph. OFC it's Randolph. This guy is just allergic to surviving.
Is it bad I'm more upset that Rodrigue died? He's a WAYYYYY better person than Randolph.
In case you didn't read my GW reaction, I was quite pleased to see Byleth actually pissed about someone almost hurt their dad given how little they ask Edelgard about her involvement in that in CF.
I like how they expect us to care about Randolph. Like, Judith, makes sense. She's close to Claude. She's cool. Randolph is really unlikable and has no special connection to anyone except Fleche.
Does this mean Fleche will cause a level where she goes crazy against Byleth?
This conversation falls so flat compared to the GW one. Because in GW, you were talking to Claude. Here, it's . . . Fleche. In GW it was actually an emotional moment (and made me feel a bit guilty). Here, not so much.
I do feel bad for Byleth and Alois though.
Ok, the Sothis-Byleth merging happening.
I love how they go from celebrating the deaths of Faerghus to lamenting their own loses, without any acknowledgment that THEY are responsible for all of this or that the people they killed were just as "alive" as they are.
Haha, even SB lets you recognize that Randolph means very little personally to you or any of the main cast.

RWBY Volume 8, Episode 14 - The Final Word
Thoughts on the final episode of RWBY Vol 8 under the cut.
Also, I will from now on reblog spoilers for Volume 8, which will be tagged withĀ āRWBY v8 spoilersā if you want to blacklist them.
tw: Since the episode itself had the same content warning, I should mention that I will be discussing themes of suicide in this post.
Also, everything Iām about to say is *my* personal opinion. Iām not trying to tell anyone else that theyāre supposed to feel the same way about anything in this episode. In turn, please donāt tell me how to feel about it either.
- I should start by bringing up what I said in my post about episode 13, because all of that is going to become relevant now:
So... that all aged... interestingly.
- Next, I should say that I actually did end up getting spoiled about Pennyās death. I was trying really hard and didnāt go into any tags, but literally one day before this episode was released to the public, Tumblr recommended me two blogs with the titles āPenny deserved betterā and āJustice for Penny Polendinaāā¦ so I drew my conclusions from that. And while I think those blog titles are valid sentiments, I do wish people would wait a week before putting spoilers in a blog title. But then again, I was weirdly glad to get spoiled this time, because it meant I was more emotionally prepared.
- And now, on to my very controversial opinion about this finale: Iā¦ uhmā¦ I actually liked it. There, I said it. I liked it. Iām seeing a lot of takes from people who hated it, and thatās totally fair, but personally, to my own surprise, I liked it. (Itās kind of interesting that last time I said it would be āawful writingā to kill Penny now, then it happened, now the whole fandom is complaining about it being awful writingā¦ and Iām here going āactuallyā¦ that wasnāt so badā.) Thatās not to say that Iām a fan of everything in this finale, especially re: Penny ā but overall, the good outweighed the bad *for me*. (Stressing again that this is just how *I* feel.)
- I think the main reason I feel that way is because I honestly expected way worse. If you read that thing I wrote last week^, you see I expected multiple character deaths. I was incredibly nervous. And after Iād already spent a few minutes genuinely thinking Yang died (because of a badly worded episode 13 spoiler I accidently saw), I had to think about the kind of deaths that would be a dealbreaker for me and make me drop the show. (Letās say it like this: If either of Bumbleby ever died for real, I would be done with this show immediately.) So, in short, I was terrified of the finale and expected it to be the kind of finale that ruins the show for me (which has happened in far too many fandoms so far) ā and it wasnāt. I have mixed feelings about how they handled Pennyās story, too, but this finale didnāt ruin the show for me and I honestly felt way worse after the Volume 3 finale. Maybe thatās because I wasnāt prepared for it at the time, but this time I spent a whole week being super anxious, so when Iād actually finished the finale, I just felt overwhelming relief.
- Okay, so letās talk Penny: Back in Episode 12, I already wasnāt a huge fan of the idea to make her human (if that even is what she was?), but I think I said Iād reserve judgment on it until we see where they go with it. Obviously, it feels unsatisfying to have the show just kill her off after everyoneās been trying to save her all volume. And of course, itās never fun to see a favorite character of yours (and Penny is definitely a favorite of mine) get killed off. The way it happened (a character whoās been trying to sacrifice herself the whole volume finally doing so through assisted suicide, even though there could have been several potential ways to still save her) feels incredibly unsatisfying and depressing as well. The āheroic sacrificeā clichĆ© isnāt new, but thereās still a difference between a sacrifice that feels necessary and like it really was the only way (Hazel, Vine) and one that feels more like a character being over-eager to sacrifice themselves even though there might have been alternatives (Penny). So really, I understand why people donāt like this, especially because the narrative, so far, seems to validate Pennyās choice by having her plan work. And that does send the opposite of the āfight for every lifeā, āno one is replaceableā message this volume had been going for until then.
- And this is why, I think Pennyās death is meant to be awful. Volume 9 might prove me wrong on this, but I think we havenāt seen the end of this storyline yet. For me personally, itās too early to judge this plot-point by itself because it depends a lot on how they deal with it in the aftermath and how things go from here. (For instance: I hated Pyrrhaās death at first because going into a fight she knew she couldnāt win also felt like a needless heroic sacrifice to me. It was only how the aftermath of it was handled from there that made me be okay with it.) So basically, what Iām asking is: How will the other characters handle Pennyās death now? Will Ruby (or anyone else) get angry at Jaune for agreeing to kill her? How will Ruby grieve in general? And, most importantly: Will the narrative really treat Pennyās choice as the ārightā one or will it challenge that view? (And was there maybe more going on that we know because Iāve been reading those āPenny is aliveā theories andā¦ oh boy.) So yeah ā for me it depends on how it gets handled from here.
- Also, I just want to say that I really appreciate RT putting a suicide trigger warning in the beginning of the episode and I wish people wouldnāt twist that into a bad thing. (Iāve seen some takes along the lines of āIf they had to put a warning, that means they were aware itās a harmful message, so that makes it worseā andā¦ please donāt do that. Content creators putting trigger warnings on things is a good thing. Also, this might be a controversial take, but I donāt think fiction always has to āsend a good message and teach you a lesson.ā The important thing is that RT were aware that this episode could be upsetting/distressing to people and thatās why they put a warning and the suicide hotlineās number in the description.)
- Anyway, Iāve been rambling for too long. My point is: I understand the criticisms and agree with some of them, but I hope the writers know what theyāre doing here and I want to believe that they do. I also love all the theories about Penny coming back (in Winterās mind, for example) and I think theyāre not actually that unlikely. And if Penny doesnāt come back, then honestly, Iām okay with that, too. At the end of the day, sheās a fictional character. I can always go and read fanfictions where sheās alive and lives happily ever after with Ruby and nothing that happens in canon can ever take that away. Canon only has as much power as you want it to have. I can enjoy the canon show and the story theyāre telling (even if Penny is dead for good this time), while still also enjoying my AUs where sheās fine. One doesnāt harm the other.
- (Also, let me take this moment to shamelessly promote my favorite cartoon show because I think this is relevant to the interests of anyone who hates the āperson whoās been trying to sacrifice themselves the whole time ends up doing just thatā story: The main character in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is self-sacrificial to the point of it being unhealthy, but the show explicitly doesnāt treat this as a good thing. When she tries to sacrifice herself for the greater good in the final arc and says itās better that way, this is treated as a problem, and the lesson she ends up learning in the end is her life has value, too, and that she deserves to be happy. (The showās also very gay.)
- I donāt know if brought any of this across properly. Basicallyā¦ Iām not happy about where they went with Penny either, but I am okay with it. I still enjoyed the finale and will continue to enjoy the show. And I want to focus on the things that make me happy about RWBY and made me happy about the finale, so Iāll talk about the rest of the episode now (while rewatching it because Iāll forget stuff otherwise):
- Have I mentioned I really love the Volume 8 opening? Because I really do.
- That shot of the destroyed whale is still awesome.
- I love how the episode opens with all the fights we left off with (Winter vs. Ironwood, Penny vs. Cinder, Harriet vs. Qrow, Ruby vs. Neo) and cuts between them. Also, the music is amazing!
- Elm admitting that Harriet is their friend and that being what finally gets through to her was a nice conclusion to their little arc, I guess. Vineās sacrifice and his admittance that theyāre his friends and heās doing this for them were touching. Honestly, Harriet is right to blame herself for his death. That said, while this volume made me strongly dislike her, I do hope she now gets an arc about actually dealing with her grief and changing. I think that would be way more interesting to see than still having her be bitter, especially after what happened in this episode.
- Qrow causing good luck to stop the bomb was a nice little moment and honestly makes sense. Good luck and bad luck are just a matter of perspective, after all. Whatās bad luck for yourself will be good luck for your enemies and vice versa. So, maybe Qrow technically caused ābad luckā for the bomb? Either way, I like the idea of him realizing that his semblance is more than what he thought.
- Cinder breathing fire during the fight was awesome. I need GIFs of that.
- Blake was amazing in this episode! I love that she didnāt let her grief over Yang consume her, but got up and kept fighting, kicked Cinder in the face and told Weiss to get up. Good stuff!
- I wonder if Cinderās āYou should have never been bornā line to Ruby was just a generic āI hate youā line or meant something more.
- Do people honestly think that Cinder betraying Neo was unexpected or likeā¦ super unreasonable for a villain? Neo did threaten her ā most typical villains donāt react well to their underlings threatening them, so I really donāt see why some people are so shocked or downright offended about this (is it just because they like Neo?).
- Weiss being the last one standing and using Blakeās weapon in the fight was absolutely amazing.
- The tragedy of Jaune sending Nora to bring the Huntsmen and Huntresses back through the portal while not knowing the portal is a one-way dealā¦
- Cinder knowing that Salem is back because her Grimm arm started hurting was a super interesting moment. And Weissā shocked face in that moment was quite interesting, too.
- I wonder if Penny really meant dying when she said āLet me choose this one thingā. To me, it sounded more like she meant choosing the next Winter Maiden. Also, her ātrust meā to Jaune is an interesting line. Between that and us not seeing how that conversation goes on, I wonder if thereās something we donāt know here. (*puts on my āPenny is aliveā tinfoil hat*)
- Iām glad they at least didnāt graphically show Pennyās death ā which is an interesting choice again, because this show doesnāt usually shy away from making deaths graphic and portraying them in all their brutality. So, the fact that we donāt see the act itself and then just cut to Pennyās conversation with Winter was interesting. (But I am glad about it because I didnāt want to see that.) It might honestly just be because of the nature of Pennyās death that they didnāt want to show it too much (and thatās fair).
- āYou were my friend.ā Gosh, this rewatch is making me cry now š. (I also think itās interesting that Winter calls herself a machine and Penny is now the one who corrects her. Itās a nice callback to Ruby telling Penny sheās their friend and ānot just a machineā.)
- I was also just reminded that Penny died thinking Ruby was deadā¦ ouch. This possibly hurts me more than Pennyās death itself.
- People have also pointed out that when Penny transfers the powers to Winter, her aura looks yellow (like Jauneās) with only some green sparks (like Pennyās). Hmmā¦ I really wonder if thereās more going on here.
- āI wonāt be gone. Iāll be part of you.ā Whoās cutting onions in here?
- Honestly, the main reason I kind of forgave them for killing Penny was because THAT MOMENT of Winter opening her eyes with the powers while that epic music plays was just amazing to witness. And her fight with Cinder? EPIC. BREATHTAKING. BEAUTIFUL. Iām not even that into the idea of Winter as the Winter Maiden (I honestly thought Penny, the robot girl, becoming the Winter Maiden was a much more interesting plot), but the way it was done in this episode was great. Iām glad weāre finally getting that rivalry between Winter and Cinder, because their arcs parallel each other in so many ways. And I love the symbolism of Winter only getting the powers that Ironwood chose for her after she betrayed Ironwood. I like the idea that she only became worthy of them after turning on Ironwood (which does work well with her Volume 7 arc).
- Oh, by the way, I really hate the āTeam RWBY will become the four maidens eventuallyā theory. Even if it didnāt require characters to die, I just think it would be cheap and way too obvious, and I think itās boring to throw all the magic powers at the main characters. So, if they only made Winter the Winter Maiden so she can eventually die and pass it on to Weiss, Iāll be very annoyed. (But I hope thatās not where this is going.)
- Iām also just realizing that Cinder asking āHow am I supposed to take her power if sheās dead?ā about Penny a few episodes ago was foreshadowingā¦ damn.
- Jauneās sword breaking was a really cool and symbolic moment, too.
- Winter trying to save Weiss from falling and not reaching her in time really got to me. Iām mostly not that affected by any of Team RWBY falling into the void becauseā¦ come on, we know theyāll be fine. But Winter thinking her little sister just died isā¦ oof. Maybe itās because I have two younger sisters, but stuff like that really gets to me.
- Also, Winter going through that portal and seeing her family after she just (as far as she knows) lost Weissā¦ ouch. They never got to all reunite with each other (yet).
- I absolutely LOVED that final scene between Salem and Cinder. Theyāre both such fascinating characters and I just live for their interactions. Cinder talking herself down (even though she got the relics, so she knows she succeeded at the most important part) was amazing on her part. She did learn from Salem! Itās also interesting that even though she got what Salem wanted, Cinder didnāt get what she herself wanted (the Maiden Powers). I feel like thatās eventually going to become important.
- I wonder if Salem believed Cinderās lies or not. Iāve seen some interesting opinions in both directions here. (Also, again, I donāt get why some people are so shocked and offended about Cinder lying? Iāve seen so many āI hope she pays for her liesā takes andā¦ really? Thatās her biggest crime in your eyes? Lying to another villain?? I donāt think any of you villain-haters feel bad for Salem here, so whyā¦ oh. Oh, nevermind, I just understood. Theyāre not mad that Cinder lied, theyāre mad because they wanted Salem to kill her. Gosh, thatās so dumb. Face it, people: Thatās not going to happen because Salem still needs the Fall Maidenās powers. Sheās not going to kill Cinder anytime before Cinder opens the last vault.)
- Cinder killing Watts with the staff was kinda funny, tbh. Also Salemās proud little smirk in that scene kills me.
- āAnd thatās checkmate.ā THAT. Okay, THAT was the best line in the entire episode, I donāt make the rules. What an epic moment!! Gosh, have I mentioned I love Cinder to death? What a queen! This volume really completely changed my opinion on her. Iāve already said that sheās my standout character of the volume, and I stand by that. It was her volume in so many ways and itās so fitting that she gets to say the last line. Itās also such an interesting line in so many ways: 1) Because this episode is called āThe Final Wordā, is the only episode in this volume that doesnāt have a one-word title, and the actual final word of the episode is ācheckmateā, it implies that āCheckmateā is the real, hidden title of the episode. And that fits so well! They could have easily just named the episode āCheckmateā, but revealing it like this works even better. 2) I also love the chess symbolism in this volume in general. There was a really great analysis about it on here somewhere, but basically: Salem is the king, Cinder is the queen (the king canāt die and barely moves, the queen is out there getting rid of opposing player pieces). And the interesting thing about that here is that the king canāt actually checkmate anyone else, only other chess pieces can. So, itās very fitting that Cinder is the one who says ācheckmateā. Also, in a game of chess, you often have to sacrifice your own pieces to win, which is what Cinder did. 3) I also LOVE the realization on Ironwoodās face when he realizes that heās been so paranoid about Salem, but heās actually been playing Cinder all along. (Someone else on here pointed out that thereās something super poetic about Cinder, someone who was very much a victim of Atlasā systemic problems, being the one to defeat Ironwood and destroy his kingdom. Ironwood was ready to sacrifice all the poor people from Mantle for his own goal, and a poor person who was hurt by people in Atlas is the one who destroyed him. Yeah, yeah, Cinderās evil and all, but I love it! 4) Itās also really interesting to me that Salem said āThis game is not yours to win, itās mineā to Cinder in the first episode of this Volume, but in the end, Salem ended up being gone for the entire last part of the volume and Cinder is the one who got to say ācheckmate.ā ITāS JUST SO GOOD.
- And ngl, Iām super happy for Cinder. She really got it all. Yeah okay, she didnāt get the Maiden Powers (and I hope she never does, because one person being two maidens at once is lame), but she got the relics, got rid of her enemies and co-workers (or so she thinks), destroyed the kingdom that she was a slave to, got back into Salemās good gracesā¦ good for her! And apparently one of the buildings that you see being flooded was the Glass Unicorn? Amazing. Love that.
- (Yes, Iām team āredemption for Cinder pleaseā, but come onā¦ it was never going to happen this volume. And if it never happens, thatās okay, too ā Iām loving her as a villain as well!)
- Also, I hope that all the people who were specifically criticizing Cinder for not being a competent enough villain are very happy now. Because there you have the competent villain you said you wanted! I mean, Iām saying this as someone who used to criticize Cinderās character for not being interesting/deep enough. I used to say that Iād like a backstory or something that makes her more interesting/compelling to me. But as soon as we got that backstory, I happily switched sides to team āI like Cinder nowā. So, I better not hear any complaining from the āI just want her to be a more competent villainā faction now!
- Yeah, I admit Iām getting annoyed with the Cinder hate. Everyone has a right to their opinions, but it gets frustrating when youāre going through the tag of a character you like and half of the tag are people talking about how badly they want that character to die. (Maybe use a seperate tag for it?)
- (Iām just realizing that I said āWell, at least it was only one character deathā earlier, but people like Ironwood and Watts actually did dieā¦ I just didnāt count those because I donāt care. Sorry not sorry.)
- We decimated Salemās faction quite a bit this volume, didnāt we? Thereās only Cinder, Tyrian, and Mercury left. I wonder if Salem will get some new people on her side.
- Overall, while I did like this episode, I feel like Volume 8 got weaker towards the end. Most Volumes were at their best towards the end, but I feel like episodes 8-11 were the strongest parts of Volume 8, while episodes 12-14 were still good, but not as good.
- My prediction is that Volume 9 will (of course) be Tearm RWBYās way out of the void (or whatever that place where they ended up is called) ā And I quite like the theory that we wonāt see the other characters at all and itāll be focused only on whatās happening in the void.

So could you please explain Sessrin to me? I'm not in the fandom nor have I watched the show but from what little I've been told the antis (as usual) have completely mischaracterized the whole thing.
P. S. Can we please ban grooming from the fandom lexicon? It lacks semantic meaning other than age gap bad.
Well, itās been a while since I last saw/read Inuyasha, and Iām super-behind on Yashahime, but I doĀ love SessRin and am pretty bummed about the amount of hate this ship has been getting lately, so Iām going to do my best to share why IĀ love these two so much.Ā
First off, anyone who uses the wordĀ āgroomingā either doesnāt know what that word means, or was not seeing the same story I was. The definitionĀ of grooming isĀ ābefriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child, and sometimes the family, to lower the child's inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse.ā This never happened.Ā Sesshomaru did notĀ look at this traumatiized child and goĀ āhmm, how I can I best get her to trust me so that I can convince her to sleep with meā or whatever-- in fact, a large part of their dynamic is Rin choosing, over and over, to stand by him even as he is actively trying to push her away.Ā (And considering that I suspect many of these antis are alsoĀ Sesshomaru fans, the fact that theyāre so quick to launch such a serious and out-of-character accusation at him is rather strange.)Ā
Hereās their story in a nutshell (and, again, I may be slightly misremembering details, itās been a while): Rin, whose entire familyĀ was slaughtered by humanĀ bandits, comes across Sesshomaru in the woods and is initially terrified because, you know, demon. However, despite her fear, she realizes that heās been injured and incapacitated, and does her best to try and help him (cleaning his wounds, getting him food and water, etc).Ā Sesshomaru, who, up until this point, has been a fairly typical demonic antagonist with your standard mindset of,Ā āhumans are stupid, selfish, and weak,ā is understandably bewildered by this, and tries to scare her off. It doesnāt really work. This goes on for some time. (Several days? Weeks? IDEK.)Ā One day, after Rin returns to her village, a tribe of demons arrives and kills everyone. Rin tries to run back to the woods and escape, but the demons eventually catch and kill her. Sesshomaru finds her body, and, for some reason even he doesnāt understand, decides to use his magic sword that brings people back from the dead (yes he has one of those) to revive her. (This is significant because up until this point he has never even usedĀ the sword, as he hated the fact that heādĀ gotten the stupid healing sword while his little brother got the cool, killing sword.)Ā And Rin, who has no one left and no home to go back to, decides to travel with him.Ā (One of the interesting things here is that, despite the fact that sheĀ was killed by demons, Rin is actually more afraid of humans, because theyāreĀ the ones who murdered her family.)Ā
Their relationship throughout the course of the story is fascinating. At first glance, it might seem like Sesshomaru is always the one saving her, but she saves him too. Rin forcedĀ him to acknowledge that the world wasnāt black-and-white, that humans were complex, that just because he didnāt likeĀ someone or something didnāt mean it didnāt have a right to exist. Sesshomaruās arc is subtle, but by the end of the story, heās fighting side by side with the heroes-- something that would never have happened if he hadnāt met Rin.Ā
Now, the thing here is that, for most of the story Rin is eight years old. Their relationship is never, everĀ shown as sexual, but thereās clearly loveĀ there, and the implication the story ends with is that they will likely get together once Rin is older. Iāve heard antis say that theyĀ read the relationship as being more along the lines of āSesshomaru āadoptsā Rin,ā which explains a lot. However, I personally never saw it that way. They were partners-- just because Rin didnāt take out a sword and fight off anyone who tried to hurt Sesshomaru doesnāt mean she she was primarily on the receiving end of the relationship.Ā (In a story about battling evil, where nearly all of the characters are these awesome fighters, itās pretty cool to see a character who is not a warrior, who just gives and loves and trusts and cares, and is never treated as lesser by either the characters or the narrative because of this. I really love Rin.) I think itās a cultural thing-- people are usedĀ to the narrative of ācoldhearted bachelor meets and adopts lovable scamp who reminds him how to love againā and are primed to see it even in a story from an entirely different culture set five hundred years in the past.Ā
(Part of it is also about shipping wars-- many of the antis ship Sesshomaru with other characters, particularly Kagura, and would rather make the argument about morality versus just saying that they would prefer something a little different.)Ā
Hereās where I admit it gets a little bit sticky: How much of this is Rin just imprinting on Sesshomaru and using him as an excuse to avoid her trauma surrounding other humans?Ā And the narrative did a greatĀ job of resolving this dilemma. Near the end of the story, Rin leavesĀ Sesshomaru. She goes to live among humans, to learn how to beĀ human again, so that once sheās an adult, she has the agency to make an informed decision about what she reallyĀ wants.Ā
There happens to be an audio-drama CD that was released in Japan sometime after the show ended, which is set just after the original story ends (when Rin is eleven). In it, Sesshomaru says something to Rin which is referred to by one of the other characters as a āproposal.ā Now, I donāt follow anti discourse, so Iām not sure if they know about it, but I can imagine theyād have a field dayĀ with that one.Ā āOmigoodness, he proposed to an eleven year old, thatās so creepy.āĀ However, thereās some contextĀ involved. The wordĀ āproposalā is used by one of the other characters-- who happens to have time-travelled from five hundred years later (that is, the present day). The whole plot of the CD starts when she complains to her husband/lover/whatever-their-relationship-status-is-supposed-to-be that he never actually proposed to her, and since he doesnāt know what a proposal isĀ (because, again, culture gap), he thinks itās some sort of monster she wants him to go fight for her before they can actually be married, and hilaraity ensues. She calls Sesshomaruās words to Rin a proposal as inĀ āsee, thatāsĀ what a proposal is supposed to look like.ā It has very little to do with SessRin in and of themselves.Ā
For reference, hereās what Sesshomaru actually said in this so-calledĀ āproposalā (thanks to @inu-drama for the translation):Ā
āRin, have you grown accustomed to life in the village?Ā No one is bullying you or anything?Ā Did you make a kimono out of the cloth I gave you the other day?Ā When you are troubled, or anxious, or sad, or any other time, feel free to call on me.Ā I will come to you immediately.Ā Even if we are far apart, if you call my name I will absolutely come flying to you.Ā If you cannot speak, you can whistle. Whistle through your fingers, if you like.Ā Distance is no object. Our hearts are tied together.Ā With the power of trust, there is nothing to fear.Ā Simply having that feeling should be enough to fill your heart.Ā That is why it is fine for things to remain as they are for now.Ā We have plenty of time.Ā You can examine your heart at your own pace.Ā Until then, take care of yourself.āĀ
(Is there something inherently creepy or predatory about that?)Ā
To me, SessRin is about love, in its purest form. Itās about believing in someone when the rest of the world is against them. Itās about choosing the person who chooses you. Itās about learning and growing and changing together.Ā
Whatās that quote-- I think it was from Dawsonās Creek or something?Ā āWhat's a soulmate?ā āIt's uh... Well, it's like a best friend but more. It's the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person. Actually, they don't make you a better person, you do that yourself - because they inspire you. A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did, or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you will always love them. Nothing can ever change that.ā Yeah, that one. Thatās what SessRin is about.Ā

(requested by anonymous; liberties taken with Gavial and the Great Chief Returnsā plot)
āWeāre going to Acahualla?ā Gavial beamed at the mission dossier. āI havenāt been home in awhile.ā
The Doctor shrugged, looking around the room of gathered Operators. āI figured itād be a nice place for a vacation.ā
āVacation?ā Ceobe was confused - werenāt these brown envelopes supposed to have work in them?
āYep, a vacation.ā He stretched his arms behind his back, letting out a long yawn. āIām not getting any younger, and you only get so many chances in life to romp around in the jungle with your friends and coworkers, so I figured Iād make up an excuse to take some folks with me to Sargon. Gavās from Acahualla, so weāre going there. Any other questions?ā
Blaze raised her hand. āShould we bring swimsuits?ā
āI will literally buy one for everyone here who doesnāt have one. Yes, Utage?ā
āWeāre still bringing our weapons, right?ā The Nue patted her sword, leaning against the table next. āItās not a vacation if I canāt take Shishiou with me.ā
He chuckled. āI mean, if we donāt, Kalātsit might catch onto us, so donāt forget your gear...but I know Iām changing on the plane to save the time later. Anything else? No? Alright, we meet at the airstrip at 0900. Letās make this a āmissionā to remember!ā
Of course, things didnāt entirely go to plan - for one, a certain fat-tailed Archosaurian managed to locate a rocket launcher, and for another, she managed to land a shot on RIās expensive airplane - but despite the crash landing, the group did end up roughly where they wanted to be, in Acahualla proper. All they had to do now was get to a lake and-
āGAVIAL IS BACK!!!ā Unfortunately, the natives had other plans.
āHey, put us down!ā The Doctor couldnāt really be heard over the roar of excited Archosaurians, to be fair. āHey, Gav, are you really this popular?ā
Being right next to him in the crowdsurf (by choice), she could easily reply, āI guess they missed me...Unless-ā
āGavial!ā A particularly thick-tailed Archosaurian approached, leading to the crowd setting their āguestsā down.
āDamn.ā He turned to the Medic. āFriend of yours?ā
She nodded. āTomimi. Iāve known her for a long time now.ā
āGavial, youāre back! Who are these folks?ā The newcomer gestured to the arrayed Operators.
āTheyāre from the company I work at, Rhodes Island. Weāve got Ceobe.ā Here the Medic started going down the line. āBlaze, Utage, Lancet-2, Dylon, and my fiance.ā
At āfiance,ā the Doctor waved at Tomimi. āNice to meet ya.ā
ā...Fiance?ā The Caster cocked her head, tapping the stick in her hand on the ground a few times.
āIs that a problem, Tommy?ā She looked back at their plane and frowned. āHey, where are those guys taking our engine?ā
āTommyā pointed at the Doctor with her stick. āIāll fight you for her.ā
āYou. What.ā So many things for Gavial to pay attention to, so little time.
To his credit, the challengee was game for it. āSure. Right here, right now?ā
āNo, itās not the right place.ā Tomimi looked at her cronies. āWeāll take them to Mahuizzotia.ā
āThe Mahuizzotia?...Do you all still not have a chief?ā
One of the guards walking next to Gavial shook his head as they began the escort mission. āSince you beat everyone, and then left, we havenāt had one.ā
āHmm.ā The Medic glanced around their group. āAnything stopping me from teaching Tommy a lesson, then?ā
āYeah: I wanna do it.ā The Doctor cracked his neck as he said it.
She sighed. āDoctor, no offense, but youāre not a brawler.ā
āIām not?ā He chuckled. āSo last night wasnāt a brawl, then?ā
āNot the way it wouldāve been if I was serious.ā
It was at this point that a smaller group of Archosaurians, along with a few Pythians, sidled up to Tomimiās human procession towards the back. āHey, you. Come with us.ā
āMe?ā Dylon couldnāt look ahead, thanks to the number of tails in between him and the Doctor, so he looked at Lancet-2. āWhat do you think they want from us?ā
āData insufficient. Excuse me, but where will you be taking us?ā The robot turned her camera to the one whoād asked for them to split off.
The Python gestured behind them. āChief Zumama loves machines. We think sheāll want to talk to you. She also has your engine.ā
āOur engine?!...Hey, Doctor! Lancet and I will meet you back at the plane when youāre done!ā
āSure, Dylon!ā The Doctor had more pressing issues on his mind. āSo, Tomimi, you think that if you win, Gavial will want you instead?ā
The Caster nodded. āThatās how it works.ā
āUh-huh. Who told you that?ā A sideways glance at his fiance told him she didnāt know.
āI read it.ā That elicited a stifled gasp from Gavial. āInamās given me all kinds of books to read.ā
The Medic groaned as the dots connected. āOf course it would be her.ā
āGotcha. This is gonna be a straight hand-to-hand fight, right? A proper duel?ā
āI was gonna use my stick,ā Tomimi admitted, ābut we can do that. As long as I win.ā
The Doctor smirked. āNow thatās a tagline if Iāve ever heard one...Speaking of, whereād Kay run off to? Blaze?...Utage?ā
āDid they all leave?ā Gavial didnāt think it was that easy to get lost in the jungle.
āI guess so. Ah well.ā He looked back ahead to the Caster. āSay, Tomimi, whatās your favorite thing about Gavial?ā
The Gavial in question gave her fiance a sideways glance. āDoctor.ā
āI...How do I choose?! Wh-whatās your favorite thing about Gavial, Doctor?ā
āHer attitude.ā She elbowed him, and he chuckled. āWhat? Iām serious. Youāre the kind of person who knows what they want and doesnāt beat around the bush. Besides, no matter how tough you are, youāre a total sweetheart, too~ā
Tomimi nodded. āShe really is. Back when we were younger, she saved my life.ā
āOhhh. So this is who you were talking about all this time, then? Huh. I can definitely see it.ā The Doctor laughed at the dagger-eyes his fiance gave him.
āShe talks about me?ā Tomimiās procession stopped in its tracks to hear the answer. āWhat did she say?ā
The Medic shout-whispered, āDonāt do it, Doctor.ā
āGavial told me the reason she became a medic was because she realized after saving your life that helping people was much more worth her time than hurting them - even if she does plenty of that still. Oh, and she mentioned your tail, which now that Iāve seen it for myself, I can see what she meant, but Gav, I still stand by what I said.ā
āYou really went there.ā She sighed. āJust so you know, Tommy, the Doctorās a thick-tail guy.ā
Where the procession had stopped to listen in before, they were now stopped to freshly hash out the debate as the Caster turned around to face him, knocking over two of her tribesmen in the process. āYou are?ā
āAny tailās a great tail as long as the person itās attached to is awesome...but if weāre talking about preferences?ā Heād caught himself staring a couple times on their walk already, and he didnāt stop himself now (partially to make his point...partially).
āO-oh.ā Tomimi looked from one to the other before settling on the Doctor. āB-but isnāt mine too much? I mean, itās so hard to make it look good.ā
He cocked his head. āYou think so?ā
āYou donāt?ā
āA thick tailās a beautiful thing on its own - no offense, Gav.ā The offense had been taken before this conversation started, donāt worry, Doctor. āI imagine itās a burden at times, but...can I touch it?ā
As the Caster gasped, Gavial smacked him on the back of the head. āBabe!ā
āWhat? As if you didnāt tell me about all the times you did.ā Now they were facing each other, enthralled in an old argument.
āSo? I used the past tense for a reason.ā She glanced over at Tomimi. āThen again, it has been a while...ā
Then the Doctor, surrounded by brawling Acahualla natives and in full view of his fiance, walked over to their ācaptorā and lifted her off the ground. āWow. Gotta be real careful where I put my hands, I guess.ā
āEeep! Youāre a lot stronger than you look!ā Tommy was holding onto him in turn - because she was scared sheād fall, of course! No other reason!
āHeās the kind of guy who just sweeps you off your feet if youāre not careful,ā Gavial admitted. āHey, are we going to Mahuizzotia or not?ā
Tomimi and the Doctor looked each other in the eye as he told his fiance, āI donāt think we have anything to fight about anymore. Say, Gav...Can we take her back home with us?ā
āYou want to introduce the rest of RI to your vacation girlfriend?ā The Medic had to admit, it would be nice having her around again, but honestly, could he be more obvious right now?
āGirlfriend?ā The Casterās eyes lit up. āIf Iām Gavialās fianceās girlfriend, does that mean...Iām also Gavialās fiance?ā
Her carrier looked back to the third party in this negotiation. āI mean, she does make a fair point, Gav.ā
ā...Alright, but only because itās her, okay? This wouldnāt be okay with anyone else.ā
āI wouldnāt dare with anyone else.ā The Doctor licked his lips. āThis is a very special case.ā
At this point, Dylon and Lancet arrived with another contingent of Archosaurians and Pythons led by another person that made Gavial gasp. āGreat news, Doctor! We got our engine back!ā
āAnd we recruited someone. Zumama, this is the Doctor, and you said you know Gavial already?ā
āI do.ā The engineer looked from her to her fiance, whose attention was entirely on their new third wheel. āThey told me the designer of this amazing Lancet is back at Rhodes Island, yes?ā
The Medic shrugged. āPretty sure thatās Closure, yeah. Youāre coming with us, then?ā
āMhmm. Is she?ā
āMhmm.ā Man, everything was coming up Gavial today. āWell, now that thatās figured out...Doctor, you wanna find a pool to cool off in?ā
He nodded. āWhoever can take us there, lead the way. Except you, Tommy.ā
āOkay~ā Why would she want to, anyway? She was perfectly content where she was.
Zumama took charge, leaving her entourage to take care of Tomimiās crew (most of whom were unconscious by this point) while taking their guests to a waterfall with a crystal-clear pool beneath it. āHere we are.ā
āAwesome.ā The Doctor, whoād carried the Caster all this way, finally set her down. āCan you swim in what youāre wearing now? I have a couple spare swimsuits if you need one.ā
āWill any of them fit me?ā Her tail slapped the ground, sending dust flying as it did.
The Medic waded into the water, followed soon after by Zumama, Dylon, and- Ceobe? āOh, Kay, there you are. Everything okay?ā
āThirsty.ā She dunked her head into the pool for a bit before shaking herself off. āThirsty.ā
āOh, hey, there they are!ā Blaze and Utage cannonballed in from near the waterfall, followed by a Liberi and a few others.
Gavial looked around the gathering before focusing on her fiance. āThis the vacation you were hoping for, Doctor?ā
āHell yeah!ā He was waiting by some trees for- ah, there she was. āEverything feel alright, Tommy?ā
āIt was made for me. I...I feel pretty.ā She twirled around, knocking over a thin tree in the process.
Best. Vacation. Ever.

Amphibia: Night Drivers/Return to Wartwood ReviewĀ āMany Happy Returnsā
Hello you happy people. And Amphibia is back and that means my reviews are back! As for why this reviews a bit late despite it leaking, I wanted to wait for today, and long story short both focused on finishing a review that WASNāT time senstive, instead of finishing it Sunday, and overestimated how much time iād have to do two reviews on a day that included my first covid shot, grocery shopping, helping mom clean the car, and my friend coming over to watch Judas and the Black Messiah. Excellent film by hte way, as was the Sound of Metal which we watched after. Point is I done goofed and I will try to at the very least actually get the reviews of the episodes out on the same day they come out.Ā
But slip up or not iām happy to be back in the saddle, and back to Wartwood. Iām pumped for the heavier second half, with more secrets to uncover, some zelda style temple action, and some heavy drama with just a whiff of keith david, as well as to see the supporting cast from Wartwood again after far too long. So howād the mid-season premire pair fair? Join me under the cut to find out.Ā
Night Drivers: I was really excited by the Road Trip idea when first announced for season 2. A chance to expand the world and get the plantars out of their comfort zone was an amazing concept and it did lead to some really great stories and interesting locales.. mixed with episodes that had interesting locations but no interesting plot or character stuff. It was a mixed bag, and disappointing after close to a yearās wait to continue the plot that it really didnāt outside ofĀ āToadcatcherā. Anne never really dealt with her trauma and the show never dealt with hop popās poularity or anything else. Again there were GOOD episodes and ideas but it felt like the show stalled for a good chunk of the season till we got to Netwopia which while still having tons of slice of life stuff felt a lot fresher with it, and had a lot more fun playing with stock plots and gave us a fresh new setting to dig into.Ā
So I was a bit hesitant to go back to the road for an episode.. even if it was just one episode. Thankfully I was very wrong there as Night Drivers was a pretty good episode and would fit well among the best of the road trip arc likeĀ āTruck Stop PollyāĀ āFort in the RoadāĀ āAnne HunterāĀ āToadcatcherā andĀ āWax Museumā.
The plot is straightforward: Sprig and Polly are excited that their almost home to wartwood and if Anne and Hop Pop drive all night theyāll be there by morning. Polly will get pillbug pancakes and Sprig will see Ivy again. This is part of a long tradtion ofĀ āskiping over the journey home because weāre tired and we wanna go homeā in fiction. Jokes aside itās a resonable device used to prevent ending fatigue and in this case to free up episodes for the second half. We already saw the journey once, we usually donāt need to see it again. To Amphibiaās credit they have valid reasons for it: The journey is LITERALLY sped up, as Hop Pop and Anne have been driving for 20 hours straight.. and their on a timer. As was established last time.. well the last time that wasnāt a spooky halloween episode, The Plantars have to get back for the harvest and really donāt have time to sightsee, while they all have to be there for whenever Marcy comes back to take Anne to the first temple. Theyāve also traveled these roads before so while their going a whole other directoin, they know what perils to avoid.Ā
But as anyone whose taken a long cartrip can tell you, you canāt shotgun it forever and the two eventually tap out with Hop Pop telling Sprig and Polly not to night drive as itās dangerous and blah blah blah standard parental warning that will be swiftly ignored. So once Hop Pop and Anne are conked out they swiftly ignore it after we get their dreams.. which are the best gags of the episode: Hop Pop has a dream with weird, really cool looking monsters that represent his faults, only for it to turn Lucid and him to start flying and take his shirt off and whip it around Muscle Man style.Ā
While Anneās is about a yogurt world where thereās only one flavor... BLACK LICORICE. Yeah it quickly turns from Shopkins to the Lich From Adventure Time really fucking quick.Ā
So while Anne has a nightmare and Hop Pop becomes unto a god, Sprig and Polly drive all night, repreadtly running into a creepy hitchiker and realizing it is as dangerous as they said with bolders, even worse creatures than usual because of course theyeād be a lot of nasty things lurk in the dark why wouldnāt they on froggy death world, a nightmarish fog and nearly dying on said foggy road they took to evade the hitchiker. Naturally the scary hook handed hitchiker.. is a friendly one, simply trying to help them and saving them from going over a cliff. They do make it three miles from Wartwood and Hop Pop wakes up angry to find they disobeyed him.. but Anne gets him to back off as they clearly learned their lesson from the sleep deprviation and nearly dying, and our heroes head for home.Ā
Night Drivers isnāt an exceptional episode, but it is decent and still does belong with the other good road trip episodes, with some good dream sequences and a nice dynamic between Sprig and Polly. It was nice to have an episode with the two that was good unlike Quarallers Pass which made me want to run full speed into my nearest wall until I was given the sweet gift of unconciousness. While the Hook Handed man thing was a bit obvious it lead to some great gags. Itās a nice breather after the tearjerking mid-season finale and while weāve obviously had months and a haloween episode between that, the creators rightfully realized a lot of people will be binging the series in the future. The issue I had with the first quarter of the season was it was ALL break and only a little plot progression. Here weāve had a lot of plot progression in the last episode chronlogically, and are going to have a lot in the coming episodes withĀ āAfter the Rainā coming next week. Itās nice to take a break and see the forest for the hook handed ghosts.
Return to Wartwood: I was excited and terrified of this one. I was excited because I missed the supporting cast from season one, mostly Ivy and Maddie, and was delighted to see them again in full. But I was also worried the show might pull out a melancholy breakup plot and having gotten attached to Ivy/Sprig and Hop Pop/Sylvia I was worried. And I was delightfully wrong as instead itās another breather episode and an utterly fantastic one after the simply decent one above.Ā
Our heroes return, without being drawn by rob liefield or replaced by the Squadron Supreme first, and are happily greeted by the town. Aformentoined fears died a happy death as Sylvia squeezes Hop Pop and as for Sprig, Ivy unsuprisingly ambushes him. Everyoneās back and the Mayor, who I also badly missed is back using Toadie as a gong to get everyone back to buisness, with Swampy inviting them for a big dinner at his diner that night to celebrate and welcome them back.. and to give out their gifts.Ā
Sprig and Anne are equally confused while Polly and Hop Pop are sweating bullets. Turns out when they got the Fwagon they agreed to get a bunch of stuff for the town and forgot and now everyoneās on the hook for it and want to lie their butts off to solve it. In a nice show of character development, Anne has learned that the lying never solves anythingĀ āI think weāve learned that lesson by nowā. After SO many plots of the characters lying and it going terribly, itās nice to have someone speak up. Sprig also wants to lie but only becuase heās deeply afraid Ivy will break up with him as she wanted a Red Sun shell to go with the blue moon shell she gave him. Awwww. And oh crap.Ā
So our heroes head home to plan and kick Chuck out (āI grew tulipsā). So they do the natural thing... and decide to summon an edltich beast from the necronomicon... which of course Maddie gave Sprig as a present (āAww thatās niceā. Agreed Polly, agreed.). I also canāt help but love the lineĀ āWeāre all cull with practicing the dark arts to solve our problem right?ā So our heroes get the proper summoning horn, thing to go with the horn and some candles.. iāts not part of the ritual but Anne says it helps with ambience and itās right.Ā
So our heroes summon the Chikalisk, an edltich god thatās naturally basalisk in all but name, which dosenāt attack unless attacked and goes after gold. So they fake some golden presents, and the beast attacks at the party.. but the town naturally fights back, and our heroes are forced to help fight the monster as it stonifies people. So we get a truly glorious battle sequences as the whole town shows off how badass they are, with Maddie curing people, Sylvia showing she can keep up with Hop Pop and Ivy showing her already established badass bonafieds. Itās just awesome. Also the Mayor uses Toadie as a shield not realizing heās turned to stone which can only remind me of this.Ā
Once the townsfolk are freed they get into Chickalisk formation (āWe have a formation for that?āĀ āWe have a formation for everything!ā) And itās offended enough to just nope out. The townsfolk are depressed though the presents got destroyed and Anne glares the family into coming clean. And while the mayor seems mad at first... he just laughs with everyone taking it in stride: It was boring without them getting into trouble and learning lessons every week, and they missed them.Ā Ivy likewise dosenāt care about a gift she just missed her boyfriend.. and asks Sprig to take her on a proper date and smooches him on the cheek leaving both him and Anne catatonic, with Polly dragging Anne away and sprig just falling over before Maddie hits him with the potion. It dosenāt work that way, end episode.Ā
Return To Wartwood was a standout episode, with tons of great jokes, pacing and a nice plot that showed growth in anne. While Night Drivers was decent, this was the show at itās : Sweet, deranged and adventurous all in one episode. While Night Drivers was a good appitizer this was one hell of an entree. Or an appetizer sampler which I often use as an entree. Great episode and a nice high note to start on.Ā
Next Time: We get an Ivy focused episode!
And Hop Pop is finally forced to own up to his lies!
As the twin kermits sooth you if you liked this review, follow me for more, check the amphibia tag for more reviews from this season and join me on patreon. If I get another patreon, iāll add reviewing season 1 to my 25 dollar stretch goal so look out for that and my next one at 20 dollars, only 5 dollars away, nets a monthly review of a darkwing duck episode. Check it out and iāll see you at the next rainbow.Ā

Santa Slash is coming to town...
This fic is the Christmas-themed spiritual successor to my Easter Bunny AU.Ā Special thanks to @slashscowboyboots for supporting all my holiday nonsense!Ā
Four snapshots from Slashās Christmas prep marathon through the years:
šššš
Jingle bells. Ā
Fucking jingle bells.
There were FIFTEEN of them on the stupid-fucking-candy-colored costume he had to wear at this godforsaken excuse for a seasonal job.Ā āEarn some extra cash,ā they said. Ā āItās easy, you barely have to do anything,ā they said.Ā "You'll be perfect, you already look the part!" they said. Ā
"TheyĀ are about to find a size-ten jingle-toed bootie up their ass,ā Axl said ā to himself, as he rushed into the storage room turned "dressing room" and buttoned up his itchy red and green vest with one hand while sipping an Orange Julius from the food court with the other. Ā
āHey, Axl! Youāre barely late today, awesome!ā
And then there was this weirdo.
Axl could not for the life of him explain why a shopping mall in Indiana elected to hire a skinny dude in his 20s with a dark complexion and a nose ring to portray Saint Nick himself, but whatever the reason, Axl was stuck working with this fruitcake until Christmas Day. Ā Sure Slash was nice enough (oh yeah, and his name was Slash, or at least that's how he introduced himself without offering any explanation or even a last name), but he was way too enthusiastic about getting paid minimum wage to let strange kids sit in his lap at a grimy old shopping mall.
Uh, not in a weird way, Slash was good with the kids, really.Ā But sometimes... it seemed like he was taking his role a little too seriously.Ā Ā
"How come you don't have a beard?" the first customer of Axl's shift, a little girl in a Tweety bird sweater and blonde pigtails, asked suspiciously.
"That's a good question,ā Slash said, scratching at his bare chin. The neck of his Motƶrhead Beyond the Threshold of Pain Tour T-shirt was visible over the faux fur collar of the Santa costume, and his shiny black boots clearly came from a military surplus store. āI get asked that a lot but the truth is, it just isn't a flattering look, trust me.Ā I tried it once, and the elves could barely look at me in the eye." To Axlās incredulity, the girl actually accepted that answer.Ā "Now tell me, what would you like for Christmas this year, sweetheart?"
As usual, Axl tuned out at this point.Ā Fake a smile for the overprotective parents, take the painfully awkward commemorative photograph, try not to look like he would rather die than hear Slash try to gently explain that Santa will probably not be delivering a pony this year one more damn time, rinse and repeat ā until about an hour later, when the unthinkable happened.
The less said about about the incident, the better.Ā Suffice to say, one of the darling angels tossed his Christmas cookies, and some of the resulting mess wound up soaking into the front of Axlās elf costume.Ā As if he needed another reason to hate his job; this was just adding insult on top of injury (that is, the injury to Axlās pride as a result of being forced to wear the most ridiculous-looking costume heās ever had the misfortune of laying eyes on).Ā
āThatās it. I quit.āĀ He grabbed the elf cap off his head and slammed it on the ground, then stormed through the exit gate past the sign wishing customers a "Holly Jolly Holiday Season," the bells on his costume ringing merrily as he stomped his feet.
āHey, wait!ā
āNo,āĀ Axl growled, but he did turn around to look back at Slash, still sitting in the plastic candy-cane throne unbothered by the mess or the sniffling child now mostly placated by a peppermint candy.Ā "What."Ā Ā
Slash offered him a bright, beguiling smile.
"What do you want for Christmas, Axl?"Ā
-----
Nothing said "holiday cheer" like wandering the tinsel-adorned labyrinth that was a Walmart superstore a week before Christmas, with Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" echoing through the tinny PA system and surrounded by other last-minute vultures hopelessly scavenging the picked-over aisles.Ā Ā
In Izzy's defense, he actually finished all his shopping early this year, for once.Ā But then his two little brothers begged him to drive them around town to find the perfect gift for a girl at school that they apparently both had a crush on, and like a fool he agreed.Ā
He was regretting it now.Ā Anything would be better than subjecting himself to nearly an hour of top-40 Christmas music.Ā The jingle bells were jingling, the carolers were caroling, the B-list pop stars were spitting out god-awful covers of Christmas classics, and donāt even get him started on the commercials.Ā
He wasn't about to walk around in public with his fingers shoved in his ears (at least, he wasn't that desperate yet), but he did squeeze his eyes shut and pinch the bridge of his nose, trying to force himself to relax.Ā Just take deep breaths and think of The Rolling Stones...Ā
"Hey, uh, you doing okay?"
Izzy opened his eyes reluctantly.Ā In front of him was a young man wearing a concerned expression and a Santa hat, stuffed onto a massive pile of dark curls.Ā Ā
"I'm fine.Ā Just finding out if it's possible to die from overexposure to Christmas music."
"Ahhh."Ā The man nodded in understanding.Ā "It's not, unfortunately.Ā I've tested it, trust me."
"Do you work here or something?" Izzy asked. Ā A leather jacket and ripped jeans didn't look like an employee uniform, but his hat matched the store decor and he didn't have a cart or shopping basket.Ā Ā
"No, I'm actually a seasonal distributor.Ā Just checking in to make sure everything's in place before that last holiday rush, you know? Shit always gets crazy at the last minute."
"Tell me about it," Izzy responded, as if he knew a thing about marketing as a cynical 16-year-old.Ā But he had first-hand experience with last-minute crises, and as if to prove it, his brothers came running up to him at that moment.
"Jeff!Ā We can't find anything good, what should we do?"
"What's the problem?" the stranger in a Santa hat asked, looking genuinely concerned.Ā Ā
"We don't know what present to get for a girl at school," the boys explained.
"Hmm..." He tapped at his chin.Ā "Why don't you just ā oh wait, you're underage.Ā Well, how about you bake her some cookies or something?Ā That's what everyone does for me and I have no complaints."
Desperate to remove himself from this musical hell, Izzy jumped on the idea.Ā "Yeah, you could do sugar cookies!Ā And decorate them like horses, she likes horses right?ā The boys had only mentioned that a dozen times; Izzy was starting to wonder if this girl even had any other personality traits.Ā Ā
To his relief, a spark lit up in his brothers' eyes.Ā Cookies were a perfect idea, and suddenly they were dragging him away to look at cookie cutters and sprinkles.
Izzy turned around to shoot the helpful stranger a grateful look, but when he looked back, the man had disappeared with no trace, leaving not even a furry white pompom behind.
-----
Slash glanced out the window and grimaced ā it was cold as a witchās big bouncy tit outside, nothing but snow and ice as far as the eye could see. He pulled the blanket tighter around his shoulders and took another swig of hot Irish coffee.Ā Ā Damn the North Pole, there was a reason he took his summer vacations in Malibu.
But despite the miserable work conditions, Slash was nothing if not dedicated to his job.Ā In front of him was a sack overflowing not with toys but with the most recent letters to Santa, straight from the North Pole's post office.Ā With Christmas only a few days away, his daunting task was to go through the whole mountain of letters as quickly as possibly in order to take their special requests into consideration before it was time to start loading up the sleigh.Ā Ā
Well, there was no time like the present to get started.Ā Slash stretched his back and got comfortable in his coziest armchair (by throwing his legs over one armrest and slouching until his head rested on the other), absentmindedly tapping the end of his peppermint stick on the edge of an ashtray.Ā He grimaced when he brought the stick back to his lips and realized his mistake.Ā
With a sigh, he dropped the peppermint stick back in the ashtray already full of cigarette butts and ruined candies, and unfolded the first letter.Ā In barely legible green marker, the message read:Ā
Dear Santa Claus,
My name is Steven and I'm 5 years old.Ā Please give me a skateboard for Christmas.Ā My brother has one and he won't let me borrow it to learn tricks.
Hmmm.Ā Five years old was a little young for a skateboard.Ā Knowing Steven, he'd probably knock his teeth out by New Year's...
...Slash shrugged.Ā Why not?Ā All things considered, he would have killed for a skateboard when he was five, so who was he to say no?
-----
Duff was seven years old when his older brothers cornered him in the backyard and gleefully informed him that Santa Claus was a fraud.Ā It was all a lie made up by parents to convince their children to behave during the year, they explained, and the toys were made on factory lines not by magical elves.Ā Their mother gave them a hell of a scolding afterwards but it was too late, the deed could not be undone.Ā
He tried to play it cool, but the truth was, Duff was very distraught as Christmas Eve inched closer.Ā Could his siblings be right?Ā He didn't want to believe it, but if he was being honest with himself, he'd suspected as much for some time. Ā He braced himself to accept the hard truth come Christmas Eve ā but only if he was presented with definitive proof.
When the fateful night finally came, Duff and two of his brothers laid out their sleeping bags behind the couch, where they'd be hidden from view if anyone tried to approach the Christmas tree.Ā They all swore not to fall asleep, not even for a second until Christmas morning... And it wasn't until his brother started snoring that Duff realized he was the only one still awake and silently anticipating the moment of truth.Ā Ā
It was imperative, of course, that he stayed hidden and didn't make a sound, or else risk giving their plot away.Ā But... it was past midnight, dinner was hours ago and Duff's empty stomach was starting to distract him from the task at hand.Ā He couldn't stop thinking about all the food he would get to eat with his family on Christmas Day: the glazed ham, mashed potatoes, apple pie and Christmas cookies...Ā
In the dim light, Duff could just barely make out the plate of cookies for Santa, waiting in front of the tree.Ā The cookies were still there untouched, all six of them... Surely no one would notice if Duff ate just one?Ā Ā
He tiptoed over his sleeping siblings, as silent as the snow falling outside, making his way around the sofa to the plate on the coffee table.Ā But just as he reached out to pluck a gingerbread man from the assortment, he saw a shadow of movement out of the corner of his eye.Ā There, beside the Christmas tree in the flickering glow of multicolored string lights, was a mysterious figure in a fur-lined coat and a red cap.
Duff stared at the intruder, slack-jawed.Ā The cookie clattered back onto the dish,Ā and at the noise the stranger whirled around to face him.Ā
"Duff!Ā What are you doing still awake?" he demanded.Ā Duff took a breath to answer ā or more likely to ask how the man knew his name ā but before he could, the man peered over the couch, narrowed his eyes and frowned.Ā "Oh I see what this is. You thought you would catch your parents pretending to be me!" he accused.Ā "Well, here's the real truth: adults are always wrong and you should never do what they say!"Ā
The man ā could he really be Santa Claus?Ā ā he planted his leather-gloved hands on his hips as he scolded Duff.Ā "And don't even get me started on teenagers..." he griped, casting a stare over Duff's shoulder where his older brother's leg was sticking out from behind the couch, tangled in a blanket.Ā Ā
Tears started to well up in Duff's eyes.
"Please still give them Christmas presents!Ā I know they said they don't believe in you, but they've been good, I promise!" he begged.Ā Santa's expression softened.
"Aw, I know, kid.Ā I promise they'll still get their presents, alright?Ā Let me just finish up here and then maybe you can help me out with those cookies, sound good?"
Placated, Duff sniffled and nodded, scrubbing his eyes with his sleeve. He hopped onto the sofa, swinging his feet and watching with awe as Santa pulled beautifully wrapped gifts out of seemingly nowhere and stacked them around the tree, one after another until all eight of the McKagan children were represented. He took a step back to take in his handiwork, made a few minor adjustments, then turned back to Duff: āVoila! Thatās the magic of Christmas. Now pass me that plate, would you?ā
Santa sat down next to Duff and propped his boots up on the coffee table. When Duff held out the plate of cookies, he selected one decorated to look like Santa Claus, white beard and all, and promptly bit its head off.Ā
āI love my job, but delivering presents is exhausting,ā he sighed, accepting a glass of milk from Duffās outstretched hand. āIāve already covered Asia, Africa, Europe, and most of the Americas, so Iād say Iām due for a break.Ā Cheers, Duff.ā He held up his glass and Duff tapped it with his half-eaten cookie.Ā
āTo a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!ā

Mosaic (Disenchantment Fanfiction)
Summary: We are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are.Ā Bean doesnāt think she can love like everyone else but maybe thatās okay.
Fandom: DisenchantmentĀ
Word Count: 2K
Characters: Bean
Relationships: Bean/ Mora, Mentioned Bean & Everyone, Mentioned Odval/ Sorcerio, Mentioned Zog/ Oona, Mentioned Zog/ Dagmar
Warnings: Internalized arophobia, first person pov, some self-deprecation, sex mention, drug mention, mention of interspecies relationships in fantasy settingĀ
Other Tags: F/F, Mentioned F/F QPR, Reflection/ Self-Reflection/ Internal Thoughts, No Dialogue, Queerplatonic, Aromantic Character, Aromantic Homosexual Character, Arospec Character, Queer Themes, Unreliable Narrarator, S3E6, Oneshot, AroWriMo 2021
Authorās Note: My friend sent me the line āI am a mosaic of everyone Iāve ever lovedā about twenty minutes after I watched āFinal Splash.ā Iām working on the prompt for Week 2 of AroWriMo rn but I had to drop everything and write a short fic about this. Again, I didnāt really use the prompt but it kind of fits with week 1ās prompt romo/loveless & future.Ā
Iām headcanonnoning Bean as aro or demiro/ greyro. I think in the show it was implied she never experienced romantic attraction prior to meeting Mora because she likes women and I donāt want to erase that in any way but Bean still gives off a big aromantic bisexual homo(queer)platonic vibe.
_____________________
My name is Princess Tiabeanie of Dreamland and Iāve never loved anyone.
I mean, I love my dad and my friends and all that but Iāve never loved loved anyone. Is that weird to say? That makes it sound like I donāt really love my dad and Elfo and Luci and everyone. I probably shouldnāt say that then because I actually love them a lot. Theyāre my everything.Ā
One time, I was walking down Elf-Ally and this elf was sitting on the side of the road with some chalk. I feel like elves would really like chalk but Iāve never seen any of them use it, not even Arto, except this guy. Iād never seen anything like it before so I asked what he was doing and he said he was making this mosaic to show his love for this other elf he liked. I didnāt really understand it so he explained it to me like this: we are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are.
I still didnāt get it so I just laughed at him and he got kind of upset and threw a piece of chalk at me. It didnāt really hurt but Luci was with me and the elf started throwing stuff at him and you know how Luci gets when he hits his nose so we left. I couldnāt really forget what that elf said though.Ā
You see, a mosaic is a mix of a bunch of little pieces taken from different things that all come together to make one thing. Thereās this mosaic at the church and itās pretty freaking ugly but the mosaic this elf was making was just so beautiful. He used so many colors and he drew all these little pictures and hid these words I didnāt understand in them. Iād expect it to be all crude and gross like those scribbly pictures Derek would draw when he was younger that Oona pretended to love but it all came together so well. It didnāt even look like separate pieces. It was just one.
I couldnāt stop thinking about it. The influences of countless parts of my life, weaving together into an insanely complex mesh- That felt like me. I always felt like something was broken in me but maybe Iām just a mosaic.Ā
I think my dad made me who I am the most. Even if he wasnāt really present most of my life. Sure, we donāt see eye to eye sometimes but I think weāre better because of that. He made me strong. His actions guided me into becoming the woman I am today. He taught me how to keep fighting. Literally and figuratively. He taught me to keep my head up and he taught me how to stab people. Itās pretty cool. I remember this one time as a kid he took me out to the courtyard, stole this guyās knife, and taught me how to use it. I think I still have the knife actually. I donāt stab people with it anymore though.
(I hope heās okay. He hasnāt been the same in awhile.)
My momā¦ Well, I donāt really love her anymore but I did for a long time. She wasā¦ How do I put it? A constant in my life. Even though she wasnāt there. What I felt towards her, it kept me together for a long time. When I had nothing to fall back on, I always had her memory. Until she tried to take over Dreamland, obviously. Now I just say she gave me my love for alcohol and thatās pretty sweet too.Ā
(I still miss her. I bet sheās dead.)
You know those pictures where the guy has an angel and demon on his shoulders telling him what to do? Thatās Elfo and Luci, and itās literal for Luci. And maybe for Elfo? He did go to heaven that one time. It can be kind of annoying to hear them bickering all the time, especially since they almost never want the same thing, but I wouldnāt trade them for anything. Elfo keeps me safe and Luci pushes me to be more than I am. They make life fun. Fuller. Less lonely.
(Iām scared they might leave someday. I wouldnāt blame them.)
I donāt really like Derek but I still love him. Maybe a little less since he tried to burn me at the stake. Maybe a little more since he chickened out at the last second. And a little less because he still went through with it. And maybe a little more since it was an accident. We have a complicated relationship but heās still my little brother, as weird as he is. He reminds me of what I have to fight for, if that makes sense. I donāt really see him as the future of Dreamland or anything but heās still a little kid and I canāt really help but have a soft spot for him. Donāt tell him I said that.
(I wonder if heāll keep me around when heās king. Iād be lying if I said I was surprised.)
The same goes for Oona. I never liked her but I think I love her. Especially after she tried to save me from my mom. And since she became an epic pirate. Sheās awesome. Sheās the mom I always wished I had except she was actually there the whole time and I didnāt realize it. Iām happy with how things turned out though. I donāt regret it. Plus sheās got great taste in drugs. I still steal them sometimes.
(I donāt know if she loves me. Maybe she did once but not anymore.)
I kind of hate Odval and Sorcerio in a weird way where I like them at the same time. Theyāre not really family but always been there. Like theyāre kind of like second dads to me. Second dads whose the sex lives I know way too much about. My gay polyamorous uncles? But they kind of care under all that court properness and tradition nonsense so theyāve kind of wormed their way into my heart. Theyāve always made my life difficult but I donāt think I would be myself if I wasnāt challenged so much.
(I think theyād rather have me gone. They donāt hide it every well but I can pretend.)
Iām going to be honest, I was really bummed when Pendergast died. We were kind of the same age and he hung around the castle for most of my life. And my dad trusted him so we actually did stuff together sometimes. A lot of adventures that never really went anywhere. He could be kind of a stick in the mud but he never really minded that Iām a girl and let me tag along on crusades and helped me get better with weapons and stuff. And Pendergast was weirdly loyal to Dreamland, even after Dad forked his eye out. Or was it spooned? I donāt remember. Some kind of eating utensil. I wasnāt there when it happened. But it was nice knowing I could trust him. He could be kind of fun though when he was off-duty. Total lightweight though. He threw up on one of those little guys who carries dadās cape once.Ā
(I wish Iād known him better. I really miss him but I canāt tell anyone since Dad gets set off by anything that even reminds him of the guy.)
Who else is there? Thatās right, Mertz and Turbish. Turbish and Mertz. Two peas in a pod. Plus Mrs. Mertz. Donāt get me wrong, they are idiots. Totally incompentant. Itās a wonder theyāre still alive. But theyāre sweet. And they try. Theyāre not good at anything but they try. Sometimes I donāt want to try but they tell me I always can.
(Iām waiting for the day they realize they could have a better life. Itāll be weird not having them around the palace.)
I even kind of like Merkimer. As a pig, not a human. God, he was an awful human but heās a funny little pig. He lets Luci ride on his back sometimes. Both of them like it way more than either of them will ever admit. Itās cute. I think theyāre friends. If theyāre not, Elfo and I will start plotting until they are. Or maybe not. A Luci-Merkimer friendship might be too much for Dreamland to handle. Theyāre kind of a lot, even on their own. Merkimer always kind of had a big head and it only got bigger when he accepted his new life. Itās actually kind of inspiring how happy he is now.Ā
(I donāt want him to change but he already has. It makes me sad sometimes.)
And Bunty. Oh, Bunty. And Stan! The world doesnāt really deserve Bunty. Stan does though. I think theyāre the ones who taught me what real love is. Bunty always showed me love as a kid, she was like the second mom I never had but actually did have because Oona was there. But she gave me something neither Oona or Dagmar could. I didnāt really understand it until I saw her and Stan and their family together. I still donāt. Theyāre really sweet.
(Iād give them everything. I know they just see me as some spoiled princess though.)
I want what those two have. Or what Odval and Sorcerio have. What my dad had with Dagmar or Oona. What Elfoās had, and Luciās had, and Derekās had, and the knights have had. It feels like everyoneās had that kind of deep love at some point except me. I didnāt even realize until I was talking to Mora.Ā
Iāve had the chance to have it. Merkimer, that brother of his I accidentally killed, that one time Pendergast made a pass at me, that Steamland guyā¦ I donāt think any of it really wouldāve worked out though. Iāve had a lot of things with guys and thereās been kissing and touching and Iāve always enjoyed it but I think I always knew it would never go anywhere. That it will never go anywhere. And I canāt even blame my dad because itās all me. Itās always been me. And Iām okay with that? Maybe? I donāt think so but Iām not really good at understanding my feelings. Itās just another thing on the pile of things I wonāt work through.
I think I understood what I had with Mora though. It wasnātā¦ romantic but it felt like it almost was. We justā¦ clicked. It felt right. She was tough and funny and she didnāt hold anything back. She followed her dreams and didnāt let the world get her down. That one night we had together, I felt like we were alone in the world.
Mora gave me the ocean and the stars.
She was beautiful. Maybe thatās what was missing? None of the guys I ever screwed around with were beautiful. Not like Mora was. Not like a woman can be. I really felt like this was it but there was still that disconnect. Like something was there but not quite. Like something was missing. I donāt know what it was.
But then she just left. I had that dream and I just felt so happy. Iād never felt happiness like that. And I never felt pain like the pain I felt when I woke up and the necklace was gone. I definitely wouldāve cried if Elfo wasnāt there. I mightāve actually cried a little bit. Itās kind of hard to hear anything when Elfoās sobbing. Some of those tears might have been mine.
Did I love her? I donāt think so. Not like Elfo loved that boat. It wasnāt romantic. But it was real. It gives me hope. I donāt think Iām capable of the same kind of love everyone else seems capable of and thatās not even a slight at me. Itās just reality. But what I had with Mora, however brief and imagined it was, tells me thatās okay. I donāt need the kind of love everyone else has. Not when I have so many others in my life.
Still, I hope I see her again, even for a second, just to feel that kind of happiness again.
I think thatās what that elf meant when he said we are just mosaics of everyone we love and that mosaic shows everyone we love how beautiful they are. Mora was beautiful and she didnāt see it but maybe she would if she saw how I looked at her.Ā
Stars and the ocean, Iāll never forget them. Theyāll be a part of my mosaic forever.

Five Favs of 2020
I was tagged by the amazingly talented @mercurial-madhouseā to do this and I thank you for it as its been a while since Iāve looked at my fics or any of my work really....so here goes :D
RULES: itās time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work.
1-Hang there like fruit, my soul/Till the tree die
Fic summary;
''You still want me?'' he asks, voice thick. ''Yes,'' Harry's answer is absolute, almost defiant. ''But my hands are empty,'' Louis shakes his head. ''I've got nothing to offer you.'' ''I don't care about that. Do you see my hands?'' Harry asks before he cups Louis' face. His touch is gentle. He's always gentle when it comes to Louis. ''When I'm not holding you, I feel empty, but like this,'' he presses closer until their faces are inches apart. He caresses the apple of Louis' cheeks and that's when Louis realizes that he's spilled tears and Harry's wiping them. He didn't even notice; too busy looking into Harry's kind, kind, kind alpha eyes. ''I feel like I'm holding the world and I don't feel empty anymore,''
Louis knows he's a defective omega. He knows its also not his fault but it is what it is. He takes the world head on even when the world is unkind to him. Not Harry though; stubborn as he is, he doesn't back down, not when it comes to Louis
Note;
Those who read this fic know that this is my first ever abo fic. I wrote this in a time when I thought the world was ending. I had been on lockdown like the rest of us with not much to do and yet all the time in the world to finally do what Iām truly passionate about, which is writing. I donāt know if anyone noticed this but the difference between this fic and my latest one was six months (aside from a 16 chapter fic which I was writing almost simultaneously withĀ āāHang thereāā so for it to get any kudos or comments at all is quite unbelievable to me and I am really proud of the journey it took me on. It was one bumpy but amazing ride.
2-As the snow flies
Fic Summary:
ā'I canāt sleep without you anymore. Got used to you.āā Harry is always like that, so transparent with his feelings, so abundant with his love. He cuddles Niall the most, always stares up at Zayn like heās something cool and out of this world, always attentively serious with Liam and always helping Leona out in the kitchen. Heās not so different from the shy, timid boy heād first met, still stands pigeon toed when heās waiting for Louis and the lads to go home after school, still stands with his shoulders all hunched but then he sees Louis and suddenly heās taller, brighter, smile and dimples on full display.
Heās so beautiful.
-Or the fic in which Louis and Harry are foster kids who get separated long before they could even understand what loving each other means. They were so young and since then, circumstances had made Louis tough, had forced him to harden up. What happens when he and Harry meet again?
Notes:
Probably the easiest fic Iāve ever written because the idea had been swirling in my head for years, I just never had the time to sit down and put pen on paper (or letters on a word document hahah). Itās not for the faint of heart, I know, but Iāve always wanted to write it and flush it out of my system and when I did finally start writing it, it wasnāt as hard as writing my other fics. Like, I knew how it would end, I knew what scenes I had to cut out, what fit, what did not fit and I have to say, even though the outcome is not the way I had imagined it at first but it is everything it was meant to be in the end :D
3-The Boy with the Tin Chest and a Glass Heart
Written for the @bottomlouisficfestā
Fic summary:
Alpha Harry Styles, world-renowned author of fairy-tales, is being persuaded by the Beta, Liam Payne to hire a new illustrator. Since Harryās own illustrations are too graphic for what is supposed to be childrenās stories, Liam feels the need is dire. Omega Louis does not agree with Liam since he believes that Harryās stories are fine just the way they are. Of course this has nothing to do with Louis being totally biased or totally head over heels for Harry. It certainly has nothing to do with being jealous of the mysterious omega illustrator Liam has in mind to team Harry up with. Seriously, it has nothing to do with that at all. Nothing, absolutely nothing, zilch, nada. Yeah...
Notes;
During my time of self isolation while the world tore itself apart, I busied myself with writing and watching k-drama series to distract from being anxious and swept by it all. It did wonders for me, occupying my time like that as I have always loved writing and this year, I found a new love for korean actors and their dramas and I have to say, their stories have such amazing plot lines. This fic is heavily inspired by one k-drama series calledĀ āāits okay not to be okayāā starring Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea-ji (I hope I got the names spelled right). Please do watch it if you havenāt already :D
4-The Importance of being Earnest
part of the @1000feelingsficsā
fic summary;
Harry cannot help but pay extra attention to Louis' order, even if it is just a warm cup of tea with a dash of milk and no sugar. He also makes sure that the Danish Louis asks for is warm and fresh from the oven and not the one in the display, even if it means delaying Louis a bit when he fetches said Danish from the kitchen. It's all worth it when Louis smiles his crinkly smile at him before he rushes off to work.
Man, he's hot, he cannot help but think.
Or Harry is a barista who's been harboring a crush on Louis for months. Little does he know that Louis actually likes him back.
Note:
I donāt know if Iāve ever mentioned this before but this fic was included in a podcast which has never happened to me before and I am so so so happy and proud that my fic got that type of attention (or any attention at all hahahaha) so like, it is quite special to me and honestly, a lot of the fics written for the @1000feelingsficsā challenge are really, truly incredible
5-Bed of Nails
fic summary;
Louis has been keeping a secret for a very long time. The boys donāt know because he doesnāt tell them, not because he doesnāt want to but because he doesnāt think they need to know or be bothered by his troubled past. When they find out, they look at Louis differently. But Harry doesnāt. No, he loves Louis and will do anything in his power for his love to find its way through the cracks.
Or the one where Louis has a troubled past that catches up to him and Harry does his best to save him from it.
Notes:
This is my longest fic ever, not just in chapter count but in time (it took me actual years to finish it, whew, what a journey). A lot of things happened while writing this fic but one event that stands out among the rest; I lost my younger brother back in 2016. He was only 23 years old. I started writing this fic in 2015 and finished it January 2020. Losing George crippled me both mentally and emotionally. I had no power, no inspiration and definitely no will to do anything but try and seem okay for the sake of my grieving parents. I bottled it all up to try and seem strong in front of them and in return, I forgot about anything else, including my passions and my hobbies. It took me a herculean effort to finish this fic and I mostly did it because writing to me, is like an itch. I can stop writing sure but every once in a while, that itch that nags at you like an incessant person knocking, begging you to just open up the door on the swirl of words blasting your brain in the middle of the night, begging you to just do something, doesnāt ever completely go away. So, I didnāt ignore it and decided to finish it, no matter how long it took. The itch to write went away after that and a sense of calm and accomplishment took over instead. I miss George till this day. Nothing will ever turn off that feeling but writing to me, in any form, whether in my journal or fics or whatever, does have the power to push me through the day.Ā
And there goes; my 2020 fics. I want to tag a lot of people but I think most people I know here already did it but if you see this or read this, take that as your cue to do it too. We all need some self love in this world and self love is what we deserve.Ā
Happy new year everybody :D

ah, if you're still doin the character thing, how about Lenalee? (I didn't see anybody asking about her, but if sb did, sorry! maybe Johnny then?)
Iām sorry for the delay on replying to this one! This is probably the last ask thingy Iāll be doing for the Character Questions, as they take me some time to type and Iāve been busyĀ šĀ But thank you all very much for the interest in these, I really love writing for stuff like this! Iāll be covering both Lenalee and Johnny in this one - so, a two character reply again! I was hoping someone would give me Lena so the OT4 was complete, but I also really love Johnny... šĀ
Lenalee
My otp for them: With Lavi! I had never paid much attention to the two of them as a couple, but after I reread the series last year, they have grown on me. Lavi has been Lenaleeās emotional support many times and itās clear he cares about her. People would consider that the time he snapped at her for grieving overĀ ālosing Allenā was bad, but I quite donāt think he meant harm; rather, I think he kinda acted on impulse because he wanted her to feel better. He marvelously made up for that during the following arcs (āI didnāt come here to stop you; this is your decision to make. Just let me come along.ā - 150th Night). Those interactions made me like them a lot as a pairing. My brotp for them: Miranda!Ā She played a big part in Mirandaās life, and Iām sure they got really close thanks to that. Imagining them doing all the girly things together without a care in the world makes me so happyĀ š„ŗ Itās like getting to see the happy girl Lenalee could have been, if she werenāt another victim of the war. I also used to ship them because I have no self-control apparently, so. XD Any other ships: Have you all ever considered her and Emilia?Ā š¦ Both share guts and very strong legs, it seems. I can picture them bonding easily over shared interests and it makes me weak. I also love Lenalee and Kandaās relationship, so they also get the cake here. As for Allen, they make a beautiful pairing, but only when it comes to appearance to me; imo they would need to work many things out, personally speaking, to work in a healthy way for both. Their best friend: Miranda, Jeryy and Kanda! Miranda, for the reasons stated above; Jeryy, because he was herĀ āmotherly figureā when she was growing up and needed a feminine, understanding input from someone she could feel comfortable around. And Kanda, due to their relationship asĀ āchildhood friendsā, in a way. Lenalee loves everyone close to her, but I see these three being the ones sheās the closest to. My favorite nickname for them: āLenaā, given by Kanda. It just sounds so cute and delicate; it suits her. My favorite AU headcanon of them:Ā People often say they would like to see Lenalee abandon the Order and join Allenās side. I say the opposite; she should stay. She could be a big helping hand on throwing a rebellion of sorts that could benefit him from the inside. That way she wouldnāt need to abandon the people she loves for Allenās sake, but would still be on his side, on her own way. My favorite outfit they wear: Lenalee has the cutest chinese themed outfits! The ones I love the most are the one she used during the Zombie arc, and this one I saw her wearing on Gray Log. She looks so darn cute, too precious for this world. *gross sobbing* Defining color:Ā When I think of her, I think of several shades of green, namely Fern (#4F7942) and Pine (#01796F). I also think of deep red (#D30000), because of the ribbons she uses on her hair and the shapes of her Crystal Type Innocence. Would I date them:Ā Lenalee is a strong, amazing girl! However, I wouldnāt date her. She can also be headstrong, and so am I hahah At times, I find myself thinking weāre similar in the way weāre insistent (at the risk of being unreasonable) about some things and I quite donāt see that working out at allĀ š
First impression: Bland. Nice character, but her design didnāt interest or stand out at all to me. Dark Boots are an awesome Innocence though! Current impression: I really like her. Not one of my favorite characters, and I have a lot of criticism when it comes to Lenalee, but I love her design and the development she got so far. I started taking her more seriously after the fight against Eshi; it was one heck of an awesome fight! The way she put everything on the line on that suicidal move was impressive; so badass. Hogwarts House: As much as I would love to assign her to Gryffindor for her commendable courage, Lenaleeās home is in Hufflepuff! Before anything else, she cares deeply for the people she loves, and will sacrifice herself for them without thinking twice. Loyalty and kindness are her most prominent trait, but that doesnāt make her a pushover in the slightest. Which Pokemon starter theyād be: Torchic! According to the PokĆ©dex entries, Torchic feels warm to the touch and this makes it very huggable. I have this type of impression about her, warm and welcoming. It also develops a fighting type upon evolving, and Blaziken are well known for their strong legs and jumping capacity!
Johnny
My otp for them: With Cache! Iām very weak for couples where the woman looks (and is) stronger than the guy, and weāve seen her carrying Johnny to the medical wing before - an occurence that, according to her, happens a lot. He seems to have a crush on her, seeing his reaction (fidgety, blushing) when he was saying goodbye to his science friends. According to Vol. 27ā²s Discussion Room, the scrunchy heās using to tie his hair used to be hers, and I love how Allen wentĀ āhmm, I see...ā when he told them she had given it to him hahah (itās alright, Allen; I ship it tooĀ š) My brotp for them: Allen, hands down. Differently from what people say, Johnny has always supported and cherished Allen, what heās doing for him now isnāt out of the blue. It was actually what Johnny told him that started to change his perception on things and realize that his heart longed to be with the ones he loves despite the hardships (āAs Johnny Gill and your friend, Iām going to help you!ā, - 215th Night). He loves him, and I can tell how important he is for Allen too; he was able to come back from Neaās inner world thanks to Johnnyās calling that reminded him of his ties with everyone in āHomeā. This part has some of my favorite scenes from the entire series; Johnny didnāt even bat an eye, he simply jumped for Allen. I called it Allen would avoid their fall, but Johnny patting his head in happiness and relief and then hugging him, to which Allen returned, as relieved and happy for having come back... It was so sweet and hopeful. It brings good tears to my eyes!Ā Any other ships: I donāt have any~ Their best friend: I think Johnny is friends with pretty much all of his buddies from the Science Division, but I notice him being closer to Reever. I would like to mention Suman as well; despite him being deceased, Johnny still seems to hold a fond memory of him. And then comes Allen whoās clearly someone important to him, and it doesnāt seem to be one-sided, judging by the time they (used to) spend together having fun. My favorite nickname for them: I donāt have one! But Johnny deserves cute nicknames, letās give him some, Hoshino-sensei? š My favorite AU headcanon of them:Ā I donāt have one because Johnny is already perfect as a character and for the plot as he already is imho. All I wish is for him to survive until the ending. Hang in there, Johnny! Allen needs you, but for all youāve been doing, you deserve to make it out alive and earn your own happiness! My favorite outfit they wear: Out of all the characters, I feel like Johnny is the one that has the mostĀ āstripped-downā style, quite modern looking. But I love his current outfit the most! He looks great in vests and the long coat definitely reminds me of the lab coats he used to wear while in the Order. I also like a lot more how his hairdo is atm, it looked a little painful to have tied for too long in the previous style (similar to pigtails). His new frame glasses are also pretty! Gives him a more serious look. Defining color:Ā Curiously enough, I think of an array of varied colors when I think of Johnny? I canāt seem to be able to pick one. There is black, yellow like Mustard (#FEDC56), brown like Cherrywood (#CB6F36) and blue like Maya (#73C2FB), to name some. Would I date them:Ā But of course! Johnny is the sweetest guy Iāve ever seen. He gives off all the geek vibes, but not on the annoying way; he looks like the type of person that would talk lots about things that make him happy, excitedly, while youād look at him go, feeling blessed with all the bright energy vibes emanating from him. Heās also shown to be extremely supportive, and honestly, everyone deserves someone like him š„ŗ First impression: Regular geek scientist guy? Current impression: *incoherent sobbing* I love him so much! Why does Johnny not have more appreciation?! Why do people think heās annoying??? Anyone who loves Allen gotta admit this guy is the MVP. Heās the trope youād expect for a smartsy science guy, and at the same time, heās not only that. Iāve babbled enough on that in the reply under this question. Hogwarts House: Iām in a tie between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, but I think I would give him Gryffindor. People would be quick to place him in Ravenclaw for his smarts and his love for learning, but this guy is extremely courageous. Despite being seen asĀ āweakā and fragile, he was the one to stand up for Allen in multiple occasions throughout the series. Heās also the one who confronted the Earl to ask him what he wanted with the 14th (196th Night), while no one had really questioned or directly talked to him. He left the Order to go after Allen, knowing he was awakening as a Noah (which is already dangerous on its own) and would be in constant situations of peril because of Akuma and other Noah. Johnny, theĀ āregular guyā, did all that, having no care as to what could happen to him. So, Gryffindor for his extreme courage, but maybe Hufflepuff for his honest loyalty and goodness. Which Pokemon starter theyād be: Grookey! The way Grookey and its evolutions handle wood makes me think theyāre skilled PokĆ©mon that can craft things and know how to use them as instruments, just like Johnny does with his scientific creations. The tiedĀ āhairā also reminds me of him!
