This is another example of 7/8 through the whole thing, 3rd time I’ve posted one like that in a row! (to be fair that has probably happened before on this blog many times given that 7/8 is very high on the list of “most common uncommon time signatures”, whatever that means)

The specific composer for this track isn’t known but I’m 99% sure it’s Manabu Namiki, I know his extremely distinct style well and this is exactly that style. Those gigantic thick chill full chord clusters and that slap bass, all super Namiki stuff.

Sorry if you already know, but Nicalis actually straight up bought the cave story ip a while back from what I've heard so idk... I can't really trust their releases anymore especially crossover stuff like this...

I knew about that and it’s weird how it’s listed on their website among the games they’ve made even though they’ve only ported it. Makes it look like they’re taking credit for making it which is just misleading. The fact they also removed the Studio Pixel name from the title screen of their ports is also pretty dirty.

I can’t actually tell if they’re good at making games since their list of games also includes ports of games that weren’t originally made by them.

I’m out of the loop on Cave Story so I don’t know what lies ahead for the franchise, but it would be a bit concerning if they decided to make a sequel to it. The original game is fine how it is and covers everything it needs to cover so a sequel made by someone else would just feel wrong. 

Again, I haven’t looked much into this and I don’t know the full story of how this went and if Pixel wanted this to happen.
